The Anointing of God

Hello and welcome to the Arise Church Podcast.

We are so glad you're here and want to thank you for joining us

Some friends of ours have come into town and they've come by

way of California, but they're actually from Pakistan.

And Pastor Haroon and Esterbati, they are friends that we met

several years ago. In fact, How I Met them was

first Pastor Haroon would come through our church from time to

time and he just became real loved.

But after a couple times of coming, we got word that he and

his family were in danger and they needed to flee Pakistan.

So our pastor had me be in touch with him.

And because of the nature of what was going on, it had to be

pretty quiet and it was pretty quick.

So I think I remember, and you'll have to correct me,

Pastor Haroon, but it was real quick where he said we're

coming. And I think it was within a

couple days. Like basically we're on our way.

And I met them and their three children.

They were young at the time, you know, in the single digit sum.

And I think their son may have been an early teenager.

And I met them at Los Angeles International Airport, LAX and I

had a big car and they had everything that they had left

owned and they brought it with them and they had to flee their

country. And we welcomed them.

And that was how we got close. Was it was OK.

We got to find you a place to live.

We got to find, you know, just basic necessities.

I remember going again, gift cards so that they had something

because they had nothing to do, like nothing to, to, to be able

to sustain while they were here. And we just became close.

They ended up staying at that church and have been really a

part of that community. But throughout the time of human

being here, Pastor Haroon has stayed to the president of

Foursquare Pakistan. That was his role before.

He stayed in that role and he's still in that role now.

He's also leading a basically as a regional coordinator, an area

coordinator for South Asia. So he works with the other

presidents of the Foursquare churches of those nations and is

really a spiritual leader, an Apostolic leader for those

countries with Foursquare. And he is one of the most, he

and his wife, they're just the most humble, gentle people.

When you around them, you're like, I'm pretty sure this is

how Jesus is and this is what Jesus is like.

And they see miracles. They see the power of God flow

through them. So this morning I asked Pastor

Haroon if he would actually sit with me.

And we're going to teach you together and we're going to

teach you on the anointing of God and how to flow in the

anointing of God, how to receive the anointing of God.

And so before Pastor Haroon comes, I would love for Pastor

Esther. Would you stand so everyone can

greet you? Let's welcome Pastor Esther

Bhatti. Thank you for being here then.

Now, Pastor Haroon, if you'll join me, in fact, would you now

welcome Pastor Haroon Bhatti to come.

This is a man of God and a friend, and we're just so glad

that you're here. Crystal, will you help me get a

microphone to him? Thank you so much.

You may be seated. If you have a Bible, why don't

you grab it? We're going to definitely be in

the Scriptures this morning. But before we get into kind of

what we're going to teach today, Pastor Harun, will you just

greet everyone and maybe you just share a little bit about

the ministry that you have in Pakistan and some of the things

that have been happening recently in that country,

Because I think it will surprise people that God is on the move.

Yeah, greetings in the name of Jesus Christ.

It is a privilege for me and my wife, Esther, that we are with

you this week. And thank you Pastor Tai and

Pastor Lilia for your graciousness and love in

inviting us to your church and to your community.

Because me and my wife, we both were born in the country of

Pakistan. And when you say Pakistan, it is

all the time in the news. And the news that you get about

the country is mostly like not good things because you know,

news pick up only bad things. If you are doing great things,

good things for years after year, they don't present it on

the television. But if, if there is only one bad

thing happening, they present it on the television.

So there are many good things happening not only in the

country of Pakistan but around the world with the people of

God. Because the Spirit of the Lord

is moving on this earth. We have the availability of

power of God. We call it the anointing of the

Holy Spirit and people are moving under that power.

So marvellous things are happening.

We, I, I started early. I was nine years old when I

started walking with the Lord. I was 16 when I started my

evangelistic ministry with young people.

I was 21 when I planted my first church.

And through that one church, we eventually planted dozens of

churches in, in Pakistan. And also we, we realized that we

need to train more leaders. So the first church we planted

right away, we started a school with it.

And through the school, so far, we have trained through our

schools more than 5000 Christian leaders in the country of

Pakistan. And they are, they are from the

South where the Arabian Sea is up to the north on the border of

Afghanistan. And God is moving powerfully in

all those churches and in all those groups.

So this is a privilege for me to serve as the national president

or national leader in the country of Pakistan for four

square churches and in the region as the regional chair for

South Asia. So this is what we are doing.

Esther was there, I was there a month ago.

She just came back 3-4 days ago from Pakistan and she was

involved in encouraging women for ministry and for leadership.

And they last year she started a ministry among women that was

challenging and encouraging young leaders from all different

denominations and all different churches and groups in the

country. So this time when she was there,

they were expecting 300 women and registered 300 women.

But on the day of the event, 650 women showed up.

So it was, it was difficult to manage, but the even even the

venue we were using, they were so cooperating that they

accommodated everyone and placed more chairs and they they said

from where this these crowds are coming.

So they were astonished. So this is what God is doing

powerfully through us and in the country of Pakistan and using

many, many leaders there and they are getting stronger and

stronger. And the church in Pakistan is

not underground church. It's visible.

We have, by the constitution, we have freedom to, to do religious

activities and, and we try, we try to stretch it.

We have limits. There are restrictions, not by

the government, but sometimes some radical groups can make

some difficulties for the churches and the people.

But we try to stretch as much as we can and God is giving us His

grace to operate in that. Thank you Pastor Tai once again

for giving me this opportunity. Thank you for being here.

What's been just amazing and being around Pastor Harun and we

were even discussing the other night just about the power of

God, the anointing. And it's something that I have

felt stirred about lately. And so as we were discussing it,

I thought, OK, let's do this together.

But as we talk about the anointing, I think, and, and

even before we talk about what is the anointing, we both felt

like we need to start with having a hunger for God.

Because if if you skip having a hunger for God and you just

want, you know, all the outworkings and the power of God

and you want all the, the, the show kind of stuff, then you

really will miss the point and you really won't receive what

we're talking about today. And so we want to start by just

going there and talking about the need and the really the

priority of being hungry for God.

And even as I say that, I think if you just even paused and

examined your own life and heart, it would be OK for you to

acknowledge I'm not that hungry because at least you're dealing

in truth. You know, there's no need to

come into church and fake it and say, well, I'm hungry when

you're not hungry, you're not hungry for God.

You know, it's kind of like if we take you to a really nice

meal and it's a, you know, we lay out in front of you this

beautiful steak and mashed potatoes and carrots and all the

things. But all afternoon you ate

Doritos and the little pigs in a blanket.

You know, like the kind of what what they call it for a football

game or something, you know, where you're barbecuing out in

the parking lot or whatever and it's just junk foods.

Well, you're full. You're just full of junk.

And you know, many Christians are like that, so it's hard.

You come to church and we talk about being hungry for God and

you're like, I'm not really hungry.

And if you're not, if you're not, if you don't pause long

enough, you won't allow yourself to examine, why am I not hungry?

You're like, oh, I've been filling myself with other stuff.

So it's good just to start in truth, not to be condemned, not

to be like, shame on you. It's more of just at least we

now know. And just like with your physical

body, if you abstain for at least a period of time, you'll

get hungry again. And that's how our spiritual

lives work. That if you abstain from all

that junk that you're filling yourself with, some it's media,

some it's sports, some it's, you know, social media, some it's,

you know, it could be whatever is filling you.

That's not the Lord. If you abstain from that for at

least just, it could even be a short period of time, hunger

will start to grow almost immediately.

Amen. Some of you are like, I'm hungry

right now. Now see that's how it works.

You're ready for lunch. Well let your spirit man start

to get hungry in Jesus name. Amen.

Yes, we arrived here on the Thursday and since then we are

feeling that Pastor Tai and Pastor Lilia are feeding us all

the time, breakfast, lunches, dinners and I'm feeling too

full. And, and you know, this is the

condition of the church many times that we feel too full from

many unnecessary things and we need to empty ourselves and we

need to look for heavenly things because God has many blessings

for you in store from heaven. And if we are not seeking for

those things as Pastor Ty was explaining the verses that come

to my mind as you know, the Beatitudes chapter 5 of Matthew

and verse 6. It says blessed are those who

hunger and the thirst for righteousness for they shall be

filled. Not everyone.

And when I I tell my people, I I mentioned like blessed are those

who are hungry and thirsty for righteousness because they they

will be blessed. Not everyone here and there, but

they will be blessed who are thirsty and hungry for the God.

And, and most my, my most favorite verse about it is

Proverbs chapter 27 and verse 7. It says a satisfied soul, like

Proverbs 27 · chapter mention

you were mentioning Doritos and other stuff.

A satisfied soul loads the honeycomb, but that is sweet and

good thing to take. But to a hungry heart, hungry

soul, every bitter thing is sweet.

So if you are too full, even if we present best meal for you,

you will say no, no, no, I don't want to eat.

I'm good, I'm good, but if you are hungry and thirsty, then you

say, oh, I need more, I need more.

And this is, this is we need to seek and desire the blessings of

God. So even as we're talking this

morning and we're sharing for some, you may need to start

here. God help me be hungry.

You know, busyness will fill you.

Busyness will fill you. Maybe it's not media and all

these other things and maybe it's not sin, but busyness will

keep you feeling full, fulfilled.

It'll, it'll cause you to think like, oh, I'm doing good.

I have my meeting and you know, I got all these appointments and

you can tell sometimes when people live that way because you

come up and how are you doing? Oh, I'm just busy, busy, busy,

busy, busy. As if it's like some sort of

badge of honor, like, oh, that's and, and, and our culture kind

of celebrates it. Like, oh, that's great, great.

You know, that's good. You're glad you're busy.

Glad you got all that going on instead of pausing and be like,

well, what are you busy with? No one wants to say Amen.

That's OK. But sometimes it's good just to

pause and be like, I don't know if that's a good thing because

busyness can mask the deeper things that are going on and the

soul things that God wants to help and to heal and wants to

fill you with and the assignments that he has for us.

So sometimes when we're too busy for his assignments and then we

wonder, why don't we see the move of God?

Why aren't we seeing the Lord move in our life?

You're too busy for him. We just, our calendars just

squeezed him right out. And God's things take time.

Have you ever noticed that? Yeah, y'all can talk back this

morning. I'm asking good, easy questions.

Have you ever noticed God? Things take time.

TIME. Capital letters, highlighted,

underline, bolt. It takes time.

It's going to take your time. It's going to take calendar.

And some of us, we don't have margin, which again, if you're

looking at this from the angle of hunger, you don't have even a

little room for God to begin to move.

And so it's a catch 22. And that's, that's not even

including this. The enemy of your soul will do

everything he can to keep you from being hungry for God.

He will throw every kind of distraction your way to bait you

into filling yourself with that. It reminds me of the woman at

the well where Jesus came across this woman at the well and she's

drawn up water and Jesus asked her, will you pull me up some

water too? And then they have this exchange

and he's wondering, or she's wondering, why are you talking

to me, 'cause it was inappropriate at that time in

her mind for this man, a Jewish man, to be talking to her, a

Samaritan woman. And as they're talking, Jesus

perceived and really had a word of knowledge.

And when she said, oh, I don't have a husband, she says, you're

right that you don't have a husband, but you've had five

husbands and the man you're with right now is not your husband.

And she said, I perceive you're a prophet.

But this exchange they're having is around water.

And yet the Spirit of God is telling him she's thirsting for

something more than this water. And then he brings her to that

conversation, which is the one standing in front of you has a

water that if you drink of that water, you'll never thirst

again. And that's kind of the

conversation we're having today. Yeah, and Pastor Tai, I think we

are created by God and God has all checks and signs and marks

inside built in in our system. So, so there there is a like

great check. If there are any activities that

you are doing and those activities are making you tired

and you are feeling emptiness inside you, it means that you

need to cut it down. But when you are, you know many

things in this world. When we do it, we get tired

after some time. But as much as you grow in the

presence of the Holy Spirit, in the presence of God, you never

get tired. You are deciding for more every

day, every inch, every every, every moment.

You desire to go beyond your limits and boundaries.

You want to go more, you want to have more.

So so this is like a system check in US.

It's like a light that turns on or a red flag.

The things that are bogging us down are not the necessary items

that should be on our list. And we need to get rid of those

and seek the Lord and minister to, to, to him because even even

the precious good things like ministry sometimes bogs us down

because we are doing activities, activity after activity,

activity after activity. And we are getting tired of all

those activities. And God is saying no more

activities, come to me, surrender yourself to me, seek

me, talk to me because I am available.

And many times I, I believe in the West, the churches have

adopted so many activities, so many programs, this and that,

but there is very little connection with God himself And

he's he's inviting us to spend more and more time in his

presence. Amen.

Amen. By the way, I would be taking

notes because what he just did was prophetic.

So for those of you who may be new to this, there are sometimes

where someone will be sharing and they're saying something

that now transcends just good information.

But now it's God speaking. And so I really heard the Lord

when you were just saying there that that there's so many

activities. That and we lack connection with

God and God is calling us to have that more connection with

him and that will that is about what we're talking today.

And even what we're going to discuss about the anointing

cannot happen without this. And so in fact, let's just pray,

Pastor Haroon, will you pray over us that the rest of this

time that we're sharing. May each of us hear the Lord and

and take it to heart, and may it penetrate all hardness of art,

and may it create hunger in us for the things of the Lord.

Yes, Jesus, Hallelujah, Heavenly Father, we bless you, we praise

you Lord, thank you for these moments that you have provided

us, Lord, that we are learning from your word, Lord, and we are

discussing with each other's how we can desire more of you, Lord,

how we can surrender ourselves to the presence of you, O Lord,

the the glory. And Lord, I ask you to pour out

your anointing on your blessing and your glory to your people,

Lord, because we know you are available.

We are busy but You are available Lord we know that you

are the Creator, but even then You are making yourself

available for US 24/7. So Lord, help us to desire of

You more and cut down on things that are not heavenly Lord, so

we could seek You and we could spend more time in Your presence

and teach us Lord today through Your word in Jesus mighty name

we pray. Amen.

Amen. Well, some you're probably

already asking the first question that we want to

address, which is what is the anointing?

And throughout Scripture you'll see it referenced in many

different ways. There are words that are

interchangeable with one another, but a picture of it is

in the Old Testament when they would appoint a king, a new king

into position. Usually a prophet would bring

oil and they would bring a jar of oil or a horn of oil and they

would pour it over the head of the new appointed king.

And then that oil would represent now a new level of

authority, a new level of power, a new level of position that was

being ordained and appointed by God.

And then so that was the, that was one of the initial pictures

of it. And then they would anoint the

priests in the service of the Lord and the Tabernacle and the

temple, and they would anoint them with oil.

And that was the same representation, authority,

power, position for what was assigned to them for the service

of the Lord. Well, that continues on to where

even David, who is king of Israel, he says the Lord, he

anoints my head with oil. Another scripture, he says that

he anoints my head with fresh oil and he's talking about

receiving fresh strength. So now we see, well, it's not

just for that initial appointment.

There's fresh anointing that comes to keep us in our

position, to keep us having the power of God, to keep us having

the authority. So it's not a one and done

thing. Then Jesus came and then he said

an axe. He said, but you shall receive

power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.

And there's another representation, another way to

talk about that anointing, that power, authority position from

God. And he says when you do that,

when you receive that power, now you'll be witnesses to me in

Jerusalem, Judea, and to the Sumerian to the ends of the

earth. So the anointing is is

interchangeable throughout Scripture.

What it looks like, the oil that flows on you, physical oil that

God put there, but it's really a representation of the Holy

Spirit, of the power of God and the authority of God.

And so it's important that we distinguish that because it's

more represented in Scripture than just the word anointing it.

It weaves throughout. And this is one of the ways that

anyone that I have seen that operates in the power of the

Holy Spirit, they're also who I would considered anointed.

They're anointed people. They have received power,

authority and position from God to do his service.

And we believe every believer can operate with this anointing.

And this is available to every person.

So Pastor Roon, I kind of gave just a broad, quick overview,

but what do you see as the anointing?

Pastor, I believe the anointing is the empowering and enabling

power of God that sits on someone to do the work that he

is called to do or she is called to do.

So it's not just a force, it's just not any power.

It is a directed power because it pushes you towards the things

that you you are called to do. So it's not just a show of power

that you do something and people like it and you enjoy it.

It is for a purpose. So, so when it is released from

heaven, it pushes you towards your goal and target that God

has called you to do so it is enabling and empowering.

You know, Pastor Tai was mentioning about when the kings

and priests and the prophets were anointed.

So it is not just a position because people can operate in

positions and they can do stuff, they can do things out of their

position, but when they have the anointing of the Holy Spirit to

stay in that position, then they are really effective.

Many years ago God spoke to me and he, he He said that protect

your anointing because people lose their anointing before they

lose their position. Say that one more time.

People lose their anointing first before they lose their

position. You know, Saul was like that

when he lost the anointing on his life.

His position was gone. And many times people try to

save and protect their position and they don't know that they

have already lost the anointing. It's gone and eventually your

position will be lost or you will be ineffective in what you

are doing. So in in the Old Testament, we

know the prophets were anointed, the kings were anointed, the

priests were anointed. But in the New Testament, we see

more ministry offices. We we see more graces to

function in and each grace, each gifting, each ministry needs the

anointing to operate in it. So like if you are a teacher and

you need to have the teacher's anointing on your life, if you

don't have, you will be muttering words, you will sing

philosophical things and people will try to calculate here, but

it will not be pushing them forward to grow in righteousness

or to grow where they are reaching out to heaven and

touching heaven and receiving from God only words.

And they are, they are like calculating things here.

But as soon as you operate under the teaching anointing, you will

see people, people's like I have experienced in other people's

lives in my own life. Like when you you start teaching

in the anointing of a teacher, the the problems, the questions,

the the reasons that people have in their minds are sorted out.

Not only what you are teaching them, they will understand those

things, but many more things behind their their brains and

minds and in their thoughts are solved and straighten up because

the anointing of a teacher is working and functioning there.

So every, every grace in the New Testament and in this

dispensation of the Holy Spirit we see and experience has an

anointing with it, and we need to operate in that anointing.

So it is empowerment from the Holy Spirit to operate in your

ministry, in your grace, whatever God has graced you

with. Yeah.

And I will also say that there is this also for your role as a

wife, as a husband. This is for, of course, church

ministries we're talking about. But it's you're called when

you're a husband, you're called to be a husband, a godly

husband. And there's an anointing for

that. There is an enablement for that

also to be a wife. There's an enablement and a

power for that. There's an enable that to be a

parent to parent your child to parent to parent them to there's

so when when you tap into that and you're now flowing in the

power and the anointing of the Holy Spirit for these God-given

roles and assignment, it is a game changer.

Listen to me, it's a game changer because now you're not

operating in your own strength. I love what Isaiah says.

Those that weighed upon the Lord shall renew their strength.

They shall mount up like wings, like eagles.

They shall run and not grow weary.

They shall walk and not faint. That's supernatural.

This is not just talking about, well, we just do our best.

We just try. You just trust the Lord and

wait. All that just sounds lazy to me.

That's not it's not a lazy waiting.

This is an eager expectation that the anointing is going to

flow. And when it flows, I will have a

supernatural ability to soar, to go from strength to strength,

from faith to faith, from glory to glory.

And when you try to do it in your own strength, you will get

so tired. And you ever, anybody ever tried

to do something in your own strength and then later you

realize, oh, that was a mistake. In modern terms, we call it

burnout. You ever felt burned out?

I know I felt burned out. And usually the burnout came

from I was trying in my own strength.

But what you'll notice about people who are operating in the

anointing, yes, their physical body will sometimes get tired,

but you'll wonder how do they do all that they're doing?

And if you're not careful, you'll take your own approach

and your burnout mentality and you'll project it on, on an

anointed person and you'll think, well, something must be

off and you're projecting your own weakness on them.

But when you get around a real anointed person, which I can I I

consider Pastor Sarun and asked her to be that you're like,

there's a supernatural ability you're operating at in.

And it's like, I want to lean in and be like, talk to me more

about that rather than be like, are you OK?

Are you balanced? Do you have a balanced life?

You know, and there's important pieces to that.

But man, there's something that even as you're talking, I'm

like, Oh, man, this is this is so rich and we need it right

now. The world and the assignment

that we have requires us to operate in this anointing and in

this power of God. Yeah, I will use two

illustrations here. You know, the school of prophets

with Elijah and they took him to another place.

And there was a person who was using an axe and the axe head

was fallen and he was, he cried. Oh, it was borrowed.

It was borrowed. The axe was borrowed.

So I believe sometimes the people and even the ministers

are operating without the axe head.

The axe head is lost and they are playing with the stick and

what will happen if they are like smashing that stick on a

tree? It will not be cutting the trees

and secondly it will make noise and thirdly it will be hurting

the hands. So many people are hurting their

hands in ministry because the anointing is already lost or it

was never there. So, so we need.

So this is 1 illustration. Then I also like the

illustration of running a car without tires because you you

are like putting lots of gas in it and you are trying to run it

as much as you can and it is squeaking and making scratch

scratches on the street and making so much noise.

But it is not really going where you want to take it.

But when you are under the power of the Holy Spirit, moving in

the anointing of the Holy Spirit, you are on tires and the

the right amount of air in it and it is just flowing or like

flying. So, so anointing with anointing

when you serve it is not hurting you.

It is it there is protection in the anointing of God.

And you know, I want to clarify, many times it's like people

create hype about anointing and they think like noisy worship

could be a symbol of anointing or sometimes good or perfect

worship depicts the anointing. You know, anointing is not an

abstract thing. It's not something here.

Oh, I'm perceiving it as anointed.

I'm perceiving that God is moving powerfully and nothing is

happening. And that's why we see like dry

services, we see ministers not operating in the power of the

Holy Spirit and nothing is being achieved because they are trying

to do things without the power and anointing of the Holy

Spirit. So remember, anointing is

tangible. It is tangible.

You feel it. If I touch past the tie here, he

cannot say, oh, I, I don't feel anything because it is tangible.

So when God's power is on you, you feel it on your skin, you

feel it on your head, all over your body.

The veil is over you because God is blessing and doing things

with you. So it is tangible if I say you

don't feel. So sometimes people are mistaken

about it, that maybe I'm talking about feelings.

It's not feeling. Sometimes you feel things,

sometimes you don't feel things. But I'm talking about the

tangibility of the anointing. When it is over you on you, you

really feel it on your skin because you are created for that

touch. That's why God gave you skin to

feel things. And anointing is a tangible

substance that you feel on your skin.

Sometimes on early stages, initial stages, people don't

feel it, but eventually when they spend more time in the

presence of the Lord, they feel that anointing and the touch,

tangible touch of the Holy Spirit.

I want us to look at Luke chapter 4.

Luke chapter 4 and in Luke chapter 4, Jesus speaks to this

and he quotes out of the book of Isaiah and this prophecy that

was in Isaiah was him and Jesus recognized it as that.

He pulled out the scroll and let's look at verse 18 of Luke

Luke 4 · chapter mention

chapter 4. It says the Spirit of the Lord

is upon me because he has anointed me to preach the gospel

to the poor. He has sent me to heal the

broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, to

recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are

are oppressed, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.

So the second question we want to answer is what is the

anointing for? So what is the anointing was our

first question. Now it's what is the anointing

for? Jesus knew what his anointing

was for. The Spirit of the Lord is upon

me. Notice he puts these two things

together, which later he would do for us as New Testament

believers. When this Holy Spirit comes upon

you, you shall receive power to be my witnesses.

So it's similar type flow that he's quoting now here from

Isaiah and he's identifying this anointing is to preach the

gospel to the poor. This anointing is to heal the

broken hearted. This anointing is to proclaim

liberty to the captives. This anointing is to to have

recovery of sight to the blind and to set those to set at

liberty those who are oppressed. There was a purpose for the

anointing. This is very, very, very

important. And it's very important in our

charismatic Western mentality because many people think the

anointing is for goosebumps or the anointing is so we can hop

from conference to conference to conference and just whoop it up,

woo, woo, woo, woo woo. And no one gets healed.

No one gets set free, no one gets delivered.

Our blind eyes aren't opened. And we call that the anointing.

Jesus did not model that the anointing.

That was on him. He said it's for them.

It's not for me, It's not for me to roll around in Holy Ghost

gold dust. Oops, I just stepped on toes.

Sorry, let's roll back. But it's not for us, for these

these experiential kind of euphoria that I think could

really be distracting from real purpose.

The real purpose for the anointing that we're talking

about is for other people. It's for them to be saved.

It's for them to be healed. It's for them to be delivered.

And it does all that we've talked about.

It protects us, the the, the minister, it empowers us.

But why? Why?

For them, And that's how Jesus functioned.

He functioned in this, obviously, as the highest level

of anointing possible. And that's why when he would

show up on the seams, people would get healed.

When he showed up on the seams, demons screamed and ran.

When when when he showed up on the seam, demonized, people ran

to Him. And so this is good for us to

wrestle through that. Could it be that one of our main

obstacles in the church right now is we grossly lack the

anointing? And I'm talking about all of us.

And because we haven't been around people who are really

anointed, who are functioning at that level, we've just kind of

all been lulled to sleep. And so we talk about hunger.

It's like we don't even know that we're lacking.

So you need scripture. We need this to paint the

picture of what the anointing looks like on a human, on a

person, and what it looks like when they're operating in that

anointing and to remind us what it's for.

It's not for charismatic shouting, you know, services,

though. I, I love to be encouraged.

I love to be with the people of God, but the anointing is for

like yesterday I went to a hospital room with somebody in

our church and we began to pray. And as we began to pray, the

power of God started to flow in the room.

And then that person was able to do things after that prayer that

they weren't able to do before. And so we're just contending

that that power is going to keep working until they're fully and

completely healed. So that that's the beginnings of

what we're talking about. And so we both have many

testimonies that where we could say how the anointing showed up

and it was for other people, it was for the assignment in the

moment, it was for the God appointment.

We show up on the scene demonized person, they need

freedom and the thank God we showed up with a level of

anointing to address the issue or the the demonic presence.

Amen, as you mentioned Luke chapter 4.

Luke 4 · chapter mention

I see the the first verse of this chapter says then Jesus

being filled with the Holy Spirit returned from the Jordan

and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness.

So I believe the baptism of Jesus Christ was like the peak

moment for him, because Father is saying, oh, this is my

beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.

And the Spirit of the Lord is like a dove on his, on his

shoulder or upon him. And he is standing there as an

obedient child of God, as a obedient son of God.

So Triune God is showing himself there, but I believe this time

was the receiving time for Jesus.

Jesus received that power, being filled with the Holy Spirit,

returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the

wilderness. But if you go to verse 14, it

says then Jesus returned in the power of the Holy Spirit, in the

power of the Spirit. So there is a time to receive

and there is a time to go with go in that power and minister to

people. There was a minister he was

praying on on the toilet seat and he was bleeding.

God, Lord, pour out your anointing.

Pour out your anointing. And the Holy Spirit spoke to

him. Bobby Jaw, the toilet is not

sick. Toilet is not sick.

So sometimes we we are putting lots of pressure and we are

asking for anointing, but God is saying go out and touch the

people in your community around you.

There are lots of people on your doorsteps here from different

nations and God has brought them here.

Even remember the the people who did atrocities in this nation,

911 those, all those people were here in this country, but they

were never reached out by any Christian around them.

Otherwise the situation could be different.

So there are people around you, they are studying here in

universities, they are working here, they are doing things

here, and they have been sent by God for the church to be reached

to, to reach them out so that they may receive salvation from

God. Your anointing is important.

If you are going to speak dry words, if you are going to

preach dry sermons to them, they won't come, they won't be

reached out. But when you go seeking your

Lord and Savior in the power of the Spirit, then they will be

reached out. So don't preach to people your

empty theology. Speak, speak the power of God.

Because wherever Jesus went, he went in the power of the Holy

Spirit and it destroyed the yokes.

It released the people from bondage bondages.

It it blessed people with healings and lots of

testimonies. So wherever he was going, people

were being raised from dead, People were receiving healing

and they were being restored. Even the poor people were being

blessed. The poor at heart were being

blessed. So there are people around you

that you need to reach out. So church, don't only warm up

the pews, go out and reach out to the communities around you

because this is your call. Amen.

Amen. The last couple days we actually

rode around and just, you know, they got a picture of all the

people that God has brought to our doorstep.

In fact, we went to an Indian food truck a couple nights and

let's just say I couldn't hang with the spice level that they

could hang at. When my eyes started watering, I

dipped out. I was like, OK, I don't know,

this white guy can't hang with the Indian, the Indian spices.

But it's so true. I mean, and, and, and when you

feel like you're not empowered, it's intimidating.

But when that anointing is flowing in your life, it's not

intimidating because with anointing comes the love of God

and the heart of God. And these all work together.

You don't, you can't have the real anointing of God and lack

the love of God. They work together, they're in

tandem. They they're poured out

together. It's his love that's been poured

out in our hearts. So it's, it's, it's the mixed

together with one another. I remember when we moved to the

East Coast five years ago and we moved first to Maryland and I

had been used to being on a wonderful pastoral team, but and

I wasn't the senior pastor and we would have meetings together

all the time. And you know, in those meetings

we would pray, we would read scripture together.

And it was just a powerful environment to be in.

And when we moved in it, I was just me.

Now I, I heard the Lord tell me one one day and it was very

clear. He said you need your own

anointing now. And I knew what he meant.

I knew what he meant as soon as he said it.

I knew what he meant that I had the benefit of many years and I

believe it was the Lord. I had the benefit of many years

being around people who they themselves were functioning and

anointing. So I could draw off of theirs.

And, and I could, if I came to church kind of empty or, you

know, in a bad mood or in a bad day or whatever, you know, I

just rub up on them for a few, few few minutes in our meetings.

And I just, you know, I would get the benefit of their

outflow, their outflow, their outflow.

So some of it, it could mask my inadequacies of not fully

receiving from the Lord on my own.

So I was, you know, I could come not really ready for the day,

not really full for the day. But by the time I'm done

spending some time with him, I, I got filled up.

So when I was by myself, I realized, oh, I realized my

inconsistencies. I realized, you know, the, the,

some of the challenges that I had in myself.

And so I heard the Lord tell me, you need your own anointing now.

And I knew what he meant. He meant you don't have that

anymore, but you do still have the anointing.

And so I knew I had anointing before I knew I functioned in

it, but I had to grow in maturity.

I had to grow inconsistency. I had to grow in knowing like

right now is you and me, Jesus, and I had to build a pattern and

I had to build a rhythm and a habit of constantly receiving

that power of the Holy Spirit because I watched.

If I didn't do that, it it, it would not go a day before I

could. I would feel it because that

outflow was still there, still ministering, still operating in

that. But I realized, oh, I got to

increase my personal input. And so we want to just talk for

a couple moments of how to receive the anointing.

How do we receive that anointing?

Yeah, Pastor Ty. I think when our misconceptions

about the anointing are gone, then we better understand what

it is and how we can have it. Bible talks about anointing and

it gives the the symbol of oil. So it comes like oil in our

lives. He blesses me, my cup runs over

and he anoints my head with oil. And that anointing is the

anointing of the Holy Spirit. So I personally, the way I see

it, I believe that you are seeking the Lord with your cup

and you're asking Lord pour out your anointing and he pours out

one drop in your cup and you receive it.

And sometimes people have holes in their cups.

There are many things going on, hidden things that they don't

want to reveal to anyone, but God knows it.

So your cup should be sealed and there should be no holes

underneath so that you could contain it.

Because anointing is the power of God and it fades away very

quickly. You know the manner that people

were gathering every day, It was vanishing after 24 hours.

It was only for one day and anointing vanishes and fades

away very quickly. That's why I was inquiring God

and I was asking him, why Lord, why we need to pray every day?

Because you know, Bible tells us about First Thessalonians

1 Thessalonians 5:17

chapter 5, verse 17, pray without ceasing.

Another translation says pray every day or pray regularly.

So I was asking why every day? Why every day?

And God spoke to me and he said, when you come into my presence,

I pour out my blessing and my oil on your life and it sticks

with you, on you. It stays on you for one day and

you need to bring another layer of oil on your life before the

previous one is broken. So if you put another layer on

top of it, it becomes double. It's not broken, it's not fading

away. Next day it is 3 times, 4th day

it is 4 times. So it is becoming thicker and

thicker and thicker. So, so when you go to a service,

when you go to a church service or an evangelistic service,

people are worshipping, everyone is praising the Lord.

So God pours out his blessings on people and everyone sitting

there receives a portion and they they go out and there is

nothing because it fades away. And as soon as this anointing

starts staying on you, it becomes your anointing.

Otherwise it is a anointing. It is, let give me the freedom

to say it. It is a borrowed anointing

because you are borrowing from from a group of people.

You are borrowing from your leadership or your pastor or the

people in the congregation. But it is not yours anointing.

It become yours if it is sticking with you and it sticks

with you 24/7. If it is your anointing and you

have to keep that flow running all the time and praying on a

daily and frequent basis so that it is sitting on you.

So how to receive it? By coming into the presence of

the Lord and seeking God. You have it because it is

heavenly commodity. It it comes from heaven.

I give an another illustration. When you rub your yourself

against a newly painted wall, what happens?

Yeah, the paint sticks on you on your clothes.

So when you rub against God and heaven, the power, the marks,

the stains, the paint that sticks on you is called the

anointing of the Holy Spirit. So it stays on you.

So it will stay if you are continuing with it, but if you

are leaking the oil, it's not there.

Your cup will never run over because you are wasting the

anointing. So you getting it and utilizing

it on people around you it, it will fill you up more and more

and again and again. Really good.

My brain's going. Yeah, It's, it's so important.

And then even Jesus, you know, would often withdraw himself

from the crowd and he would keep the connection with the source,

which is Father God. And then when he would come from

that time, that's when we saw him operate so powerfully with

the people. So talk for a moment about that

regular daily connection with the Lord and how that connects

with staying full. Yeah, that daily connection,

even I was looking at the verses in the Bible, you know about

Jesus Christ. In Mark chapter 14, verse 49, it

Mark 14:49

says I was daily with you in the temple teaching.

So why Jesus was there, number one, teaching and secondly, to

receive more, because Jesus Christ, whatever he did on this

earth, you can explain it under the umbrella of the gifts of the

Holy Spirit, because he didn't use his divinity to perform

miracles. He used his humanity and the

gifts of the Holy Spirit to operate so that we could also

operate in, in those anointings and in those gifts so that no

one could say that, oh, Jesus was divine and I am not.

He could do it, but I cannot do it.

You can do it because it is provided for you from heaven and

it's not you, it's your Father, It's your heavenly Father who is

providing that anointing for you.

So he said I was daily with you in the temple teaching and you

did not seize me there. So it means that if Jesus needs

it daily to go into the temple or into a place where he could

pray, because Pastor Tai mentioned that he withdrew

himself. So whenever he felt that I need

recharging, he withdrew. Whenever he felt that I need to

go back to my Father's feet, he went back and he withdrew

himself. And we need to do it more often

so that we are receiving infillings during the day and

day after day, so that we are not operating empty and we are

operating in the power of the Holy Spirit.

You know, in another passage, Jesus, when he's talking about

the Holy Spirit, he said that there was a place where you

could be where I could be, where out of you will flow rivers of

living water. So there will be a place where

you're so functioning and flowing with the Holy Spirit

that it's, it's like you're a well where out of you will flow

rivers of living water. So on, on, on demand, really on

the need rivers, on demand rivers.

And that's a place that the Lord would have us head together as a

church, as a community, as individuals, so that we get off

the roller coaster that we no longer accept the lie.

Well, we're just living. We're just doing our best till

Jesus returns. And it's kind of like, you know,

we're just going to hopefully squeak by.

I don't know about you. I want to be in a place where I

get to where Jesus said was available that I'm, I'm living

from overflow. I'm living from out of me will

flow rivers of living water. So whether that's I show up at a

hospital room or whether I show up in a meeting or whether I

show up on a phone conversation or whether it's meeting, you

know, I run into you at the grocery store.

And in that moment, I pray that you find a pastor who has rivers

of living water at his disposal ready to go.

And that's not just for pastors. That's for every spirit filled,

Holy Spirit baptized believer. And so this morning we had more

we're going to we wanted to cover, but that'll be for the

next time you, you come. But I felt very, very strong

that we need to pray for any person that's asking for the

anointing of God to be poured out on them.

So I want us to all stand to our feet, if you would.
