  1. Hello and welcome to the Arise Church Podcast.

  2. We are so glad you're here and want to thank you for joining us

  3. today for the audio version of our Sunday morning message.

  4. We want to invite you to join us in person at our Sunday morning

  5. celebration every Sunday at 10 AM.

  6. We are located on Old Jenks Rd. in Apex, NC.

  7. Of course. All right, if you have a Bible,

  8. let's grab it. Let's get into the Word.

  9. I'm going to have to tighten this and go as fast as possible,

  10. but if you'll go to first Samuel, actually why don't y'all

  11. go to First Chronicles 13 and I'll just summarize for Samuel.

  12. But First Chronicles chapter 13 Chronicles is in the Old

    1 Chronicles 13 chapter mention

  13. Testament. Sometimes people get it confused

  14. with Corinthians, which is in the New Testament.

  15. But First Chronicles Old Testament verse or chapter 13.

  16. As you turn there, I want to talk about today the Tabernacle

  17. of David, the Tabernacle of David.

  18. And I want to start by kind of giving you a quick overview from

  19. first Samuel chapter 4, which is where I was going to have you

    1 Samuel 4 chapter mention

  20. turn. But in this instance, this arc

  21. of God, which a couple weeks ago when I was talking about the

  22. glory of God and the Tabernacle and how the ark of God was just

  23. beyond the veil and the holy of holies, that really furnish

  24. meant that furnish furnishing that piece of furniture which

  25. was like a wooden box, and inside of it had all kinds of

  26. things that God said should be in there.

  27. But it represented the presence of God, represented the presence

  28. of the Lord. So wherever that was, the

  29. presence of God was, well, in first Samuel chapter 4, that was

    1 Samuel 4 chapter mention

  30. taken captive. They lost it, they lost it.

  31. Israel lost the presence of God, God's chosen people, the ones

  32. whom he said, I want to dwell with you, I want to be with you.

  33. They've been on this whole journey coming out of Egypt and

  34. then the promised land. They have the presence of the

  35. Lord. God gives them their promises

  36. and they lost it. They lost it.

  37. Have you ever felt like you lost it?

  38. Any Christian who has been in this for any amount of time, I'm

  39. sorry. You may be as holy, as holy as

  40. holy could be, but at some point you probably lost him.

  41. And maybe it wasn't taken captive, but maybe you just

  42. yourself got distant or somehow you found yourself in this

  43. place. Well, the children of Israel

  44. lost the presence of the Lord. They lost it was taken captive.

  45. And in fact, in the middle of all of this happening, there was

  46. a, a woman who had a child. And because she had had this

  47. child in the middle of, of Jerusalem being ransacked and

  48. the the ark of God being taken, she called her child Ichabod for

  49. the glory had departed from Israel.

  50. The ark of God had been captured.

  51. So Fast forward quite a bit. David becomes king and and it is

  52. hot on David's heart to get the ark back.

  53. Why? Because it's the presence of

  54. God. He wanted the presence of the

  55. Lord back. He wanted the glory back.

  56. He wanted to experience what Moses had experienced.

  57. He wanted to experience what all the priests got to experience

  58. when they had that that that first temple, when they had the

  59. the Tabernacle before he, he wanted the presence of the Lord

  60. so badly. Most of the Psalms are written

  61. about that. His hunger for the presence of

  62. the Lord. All that I might dwell in the

  63. House of the Lord forever. That's David.

  64. So in First Chronicles chapter 13, David has made major moves

    1 Chronicles 13 chapter mention

  65. to bring the ark back. And in fact, after some time,

  66. the ark of God was in, in a, in, in a certain part of Israel and

  67. it kind of stayed there. Well, David wanted to bring it

  68. back to its rightful place to Mount Zion.

  69. And here we find that in First Chronicles chapter 13, verses

    1 Chronicles 13 chapter mention

  70. one through 8, if you don't have your Bible, you can follow up on

  71. the screen. This is what it says.

  72. Then David consulted with the captains of thousands and

  73. hundreds, and with every leader. And David said to all the

  74. assembly of Israel, If it seems good to you, and if it is of the

  75. Lord our God, let us send out to our brethren everywhere who are

  76. left in all the land of Israel, and with them to the priest and

  77. the Levites, who are in their cities and their common lands,

  78. that they may gather together to us.

  79. Verse 3. And let us bring the ark of our

  80. God back to us, for we have not inquired at it since the days of

  81. Saul. Then all the assemblies said

  82. that they would do so. For the thing was right in the

  83. eyes of all the people. Notice that, For the thing was

  84. right in the eyes of all the people.

  85. What was right that they bring this ark back, that they bring

  86. the presence of the Lord back to them, that they could inquire of

  87. God again? Verse 5 So David gathered all

  88. Israel together from Shahor to Egypt, or in Egypt to as far as

  89. the interests of Hamas, to bring the ark of God from Kirjath

  90. Jirium. And David and all Israel went up

  91. to Bala to Kirjath Jirium, which belonged to Judah, to bring up

  92. from the there the ark of God, the Lord who dwells between the

  93. cherubim, where his name is proclaimed.

  94. And they carried the ark of God on a new cart from the House of

  95. Abinadab and Ouza, and Ohio drove the cart.

  96. Then David and all Israel played music before God with all their

  97. might, singing with, on harps and on stringed instruments, on

  98. tambourines, on cymbals and with trumpets.

  99. So notice that David, I mean, he is so intense, he called

  100. everybody together, We're all going to do this together.

  101. And they're worshipping and they're singing.

  102. So the Lord and they, they're, they're, they're, they're, they

  103. have symbols and they have tambourines because they weren't

  104. forbidden at that time. And those are forbidden in our

  105. sanctuary. But you know, they had

  106. tambourines just, unless someone was like, oh, thank you, Lord

  107. Pastor gave me permission. Please, please, just at home.

  108. Do it at home, do it at home. But they're doing all of this.

  109. But verse 7 gives the real nuanced, interesting detail that

  110. they put the ark of God on a new cart, on a new cart.

  111. Now, if you know your Bible, you know that the ark of God was

  112. meant to be carried on the shoulders of priests.

  113. But David in his zeal and his his such a desire to to have the

  114. presence of the Lord back, he built a new cart because that's

  115. more efficient. It's a long journey from Kirjath

  116. Jerium and I'm trying to get up to the hill.

  117. So why don't we build a new cart for it?

  118. Honestly, I think the American church is full of new carts,

  119. well meaning people, well meaning.

  120. I think of many people as zealous for the Lord as David,

  121. but they have built new things that God said will never work,

  122. they'll never work, they'll never work.

  123. And you know, it's easy to point the finger at others, but what

  124. things have you built out of efficiency?

  125. I know some of us were real efficiency minded and there's a

  126. lot that's in our culture right now that's trying to make things

  127. more efficient. But just beware that some old

  128. things are meant to still work. We call it old school now, like

  129. the anointing oil it. I just happen to believe it

  130. still works. I still happen to believe that

  131. speaking in the language of the Holy Spirit still works.

  132. I happen to believe that camp still works.

  133. Hello. There are some things where it's

  134. like better not change it. Don't put it on a new cart.

  135. Don't put it on. I was thinking earlier today I'm

  136. like, oh, do I want to wade into this today?

  137. And y'all are in luck because I'm going to.

  138. So I was watching a very popular churches youth conference this

  139. week and teenagers. OK.

  140. And I'm watching these preachers up there the 1st and I, I popped

  141. in a couple times and honestly, I wasn't popping in to like

  142. critique, but sometimes it's like if it looks like a duck,

  143. quacks like a duck, smells like a duck, walks like a duck, it's

  144. a duck. OK.

  145. So. I look in and these are

  146. teenagers and there's some man preaching and he's got whatever

  147. jacket zipped down to here and he has no shirt underneath.

  148. These are teenagers. It's gross.

  149. No, but in a new cart world, it works.

  150. I tuned in again a couple days later.

  151. And then there's another guy who has basically, you all know,

  152. like the the like the long underwear that you wear during

  153. the winter. OK, he was wearing that kind of

  154. shirt and it was super tight and see through and he's, he had to

  155. be my age or maybe he could be a couple years younger, but

  156. somewhere around that and he's teaching teenagers, trying to be

  157. sexy to teenagers. It took everything in me not to

  158. throw down in the chat. It took everything.

  159. I'm Lord. I Lord, I don't know these

  160. people, I don't know their hearts, I don't know where

  161. they're coming from. But this is nasty.

  162. But in a new cart world, it's working.

  163. And by working, I mean it's rolling for a little while and

  164. there's all the hoopla, there is the songs, there is the screens,

  165. there is the smoke, there is all the stuff.

  166. And it works until it doesn't. Second Samuel chapter 6, verses

    2 Samuel 6:7–8

  167. 7-8. Then the anger of the Lord was

  168. aroused against Ouza, and God struck him there for his error,

  169. and he died there by the ark of God.

  170. And David became angry because of the Lord's outbreak against

  171. Ouza, and he called the name of the place, Perez Ouza to this

  172. day. Why did Ouza die?

  173. Because the ark, this fancy little contraption that they

  174. made very efficient to roll the cart, didn't have to be carried

  175. by anybody. Something happened on the road

  176. and it began to fall, and Ouza stretched out and grabbed it and

  177. he died because he wasn't supposed to be touching that.

  178. He reached out and he touched it and he died.

  179. I remember there was one time where I was on staff at church

  180. and there was a ministry that I remember wasn't doing that

  181. great. And I was in a leadership

  182. meeting and I wanted to speak up about helping that ministry.

  183. And I remember the Lord telling me don't touch that.

  184. Don't touch that, don't touch that.

  185. And I knew that's not for me. I knew that that one's not for

  186. me, though I wanted to, I wanted to help.

  187. I think it was a the right heart was like, I want to help.

  188. But there are some things that you're not supposed to touch.

  189. And you better be mindful of the Holy Spirit so you don't get

  190. involved in doing stuff, building carts that you're not

  191. supposed to build, being helpful where you're not supposed to be

  192. helpful because it's not for you.

  193. And the anger of the Lord was aroused and he killed a man

  194. because of this error. God is no joke.

  195. And that's why I watch what's happening in the United States

  196. today. And there's like a fear of the

  197. Lord that kind of like grabs hold of me because I'm like,

  198. except by the grace of God, there I go.

  199. I. Hello.

  200. And so you're like, Lord help me to not error in any of these

  201. things as well in haste or in a good heart or being zealous.

  202. I need to know the difference between what does scripture say

  203. we should approach it and what is the modern day, you know,

  204. wisdom of man say I'm supposed to do to approach a thing.

  205. And if you're not careful, you'll get under the sway of

  206. this world system and all of a sudden you're building carts for

  207. God. Lord have mercy.

  208. Go ahead and just say that Lord have mercy.

  209. Have mercy. Verse 9 still in second Samuel

    2 Samuel 6 chapter mention

  210. chapter 6, David was afraid of the Lord that day and he said,

  211. how can the ark of the Lord come to me?

  212. Imagine his disappointment. He had made all this hoopla.

  213. He had gotten all of Israel together.

  214. I mean, they're singing, they're shouting, they're tambourines,

  215. everything is going. And then you, Can you imagine

  216. how awkward when the dude dies, the tambourine, you know, it's

  217. like a, it's like, it's like the, it's, Can you imagine?

  218. There's the way like you put the tambourine and it just kind of

  219. like just kind of shakes until you like put it away.

  220. You're like, you know, I mean, it's just awkward.

  221. And then poor David, he's like, how can the ark of the Lord come

  222. to me? How am I going to approach the

  223. presence of God if if he's like this again, he had a zeal about

  224. him. He had the right heart, but man

  225. did he do it wrong. And he was confused about what

  226. was going on. Verse 10.

  227. So David would not move the ark of the Lord with him into the

  228. city of David. He was like, uh, uh, I ain't

  229. touching that. The last dude who touched that

  230. was dead. I am not moving that.

  231. But I think more than that, he was disappointed, he's

  232. disappointed and I've noticed that disappointing,

  233. disappointment will keep you from the presence of the Lord.

  234. Disappointment will cause you if you're not careful to just put

  235. that over there. See that's what David did.

  236. It says that he he he took it inside the House of Obed Edom

  237. that get tight. I'm like, what did that dude do

  238. to David where he's like you, you going to keep it because,

  239. you know, maybe you'll touch it and die too.

  240. I don't know what Obed Edom did to David, but he was like you,

  241. it's going over in your house. And honestly, you think about

  242. it, he was like, I don't want it.

  243. You can have it over there in your house.

  244. I'm like, what did you do Obed to David anyways?

  245. So, but, but, but he's David basically is like, I'm just

  246. going to put it over there, 'cause I can't, I, I don't know

  247. what to do with that. Have you ever been through that

  248. kind of season? I mean, if we're talking real

  249. today, have you ever been like hot on fire for the Lord and

  250. then disappointment strike something unexpected and you're

  251. like, I'm just going to put that over there for now because I

  252. don't even know what to do about this.

  253. I'm just going to back up a little bit.

  254. Oh, I have been there 100%, 100%.

  255. Do I am I proud of that? No.

  256. But have you ever felt felt like I got to sort some stuff out

  257. first? So I'm just going to put you

  258. over there like on a shelf. I'm just going to shelve that

  259. for a while. But if you're not careful,

  260. shelves, things can turn into years, they can turn into years,

  261. they can turn into long term disappointment.

  262. And now all of a sudden, you know, you're vulnerable,

  263. vulnerable to the enemy. But look at this so Obed enum.

  264. It worked out real good for him. Look at verse 11.

  265. The ark of the Lord remained in the House of Obed Edom.

  266. The get tight for three months and the Lord blessed Obed Edom

  267. and all his household. Now it was told to King David

  268. saying the Lord has blessed the House of Obed Edom and all that

  269. belongs to him because of the ark of God.

  270. I'm pretty sure David was surprised, Like, oh, man, I

  271. thought that was going to kill him.

  272. But all right, blessed him. OK.

  273. I mean, it's funny how this worked out.

  274. I mean, he was surprised. Otherwise, I'm fairly certain

  275. David would have brought the Ark of God up to the City of David

  276. right away. But says David went up and Brock

  277. brought up the Ark of God from the House of Obed Edom to the

  278. City of David with gladness. Can you imagine the relief?

  279. Oh, that's what I thought it would be.

  280. That's what I thought it would be.

  281. You know, sometimes it takes someone else and their journey

  282. to reveal to you what's possible with God.

  283. Someone else's testimony oftentimes can be the thing that

  284. will soften a hard heart. Oh, what you're experiencing is

  285. not what I thought of God. I thought God was harsh and I

  286. thought God was mean and I thought God wasn't wanting to be

  287. with me. But because I see you now, it

  288. makes me know, Oh no, he really is good.

  289. And what I heard about him before was the truth and was

  290. real powerful. Powerful what your story could

  291. do for someone else, maybe undo what they thought about God.

  292. Or powerful what someone else's story could do for you.

  293. Remind, you know, that's who God really is.

  294. And so it gave David gladness. And he, he goes up and he brings

  295. Obed the ark out of Obed Edom's house.

  296. And so it was when those bearing the ark of the Lord had gone 6

  297. paces. So notice this.

  298. Guess what? David went back to old school.

  299. Those bearing the ark ain't no cart in this story.

  300. Did you hear me? They took it off the cart.

  301. Why? Because he saw the error.

  302. No, don't put my ark on a cart, I'd said, put it on the

  303. shoulders of priests. So those bearing the ark of the

  304. Lord had gone 6 paces, and he sacrificed oxen and fatted

  305. sheep. Then David danced before the

  306. Lord with all his might, and David was wearing a linen ephod.

  307. So David and all the House of Israel brought up the ark of God

  308. with shouting and with the sound of the trumpet.

  309. What's interesting to me as I was really processing this,

  310. because sometimes when I'm studying, I'm kind of like on a

  311. journey, like I just stay curious and I let the Lord kind

  312. of lead me through scriptures. And I, I, some of you would, I

  313. don't know if you would be inspired or concerned about the

  314. way that I study because I kind of like, I just, I just do these

  315. rabbit trails through scripture and I just allow the Lord to

  316. show me where they lead. And what's interesting about

  317. this is they were shouting and dancing and singing and doing

  318. all that the first time. What was the difference?

  319. How they carried, how they how they carried the presence of

  320. God, how, how we as a church arise church carry the presence

  321. of the Lord is going to really matter.

  322. If you're not careful, we'll think that it's the singing and

  323. the quality and all of that stuff, which you know, I love, I

  324. love quality. But if we're not careful, we'll

  325. think that's the mark. Like that's what really shows.

  326. That we're doing it right. But that's not how we carry the

  327. presence of the Lord is important.

  328. Well, how how do we know what to do?

  329. The Bible tells us. The Bible tells us.

  330. David would often say that he would he he wanted to come

  331. before the Lord with clean hands and a pure heart.

  332. Create in me a contrite spirit like he, he, he, he.

  333. He knew at some point it the light bulb clicked and he

  334. realized, oh, it's not all the shouting and the tambourines and

  335. the cymbals and all of that. That is the marker.

  336. The marker is clean hands, pure heart.

  337. Clean hands, pure heart. Clean hands, pure heart.

  338. And I'm not against a party. God loves a good party, OK?

  339. He loves a good party. He loves the sound of joy and

  340. shouting and Thanksgiving. But the marker could be lost in

  341. all the noise. Verse 16 Now as the ark of the

  342. Lord came into the city of David, Michael saw his daughter

  343. look through a window and saw David, King David, leaping and

  344. whirling before the Lord. And she despised him in her

  345. heart. So they brought the ark of the

  346. Lord and set it in. Its placed in the midst of the

  347. temple that David had erect, or in the midst of the Tabernacle

  348. that David had erected for it. Then David offered burnt

  349. offerings and peace offerings before the Lord.

  350. There's another account of this in Scripture that says David

  351. despised him. Michael despised David in her

  352. heart. And then when he came back and

  353. she talked to him, she said, oh, there was the king twirling

  354. about and all of this. And the Bible said she was

  355. barren from that day forward. And I've always thought we

  356. better be very careful how we judge someone else's worship.

  357. I think many churches have become barren because they

  358. become judgmental, judgmental even.

  359. I get I checked myself even what I said about the man with the

  360. the type that the but you know what, all that earlier, you

  361. know, I have to sort out like, what's me being judgmental and

  362. what's me saying? No, that's not right, and things

  363. that are righteously need to be said, but they bring in the ark

  364. of the Lord. And so this is what I want you

  365. to see, that verse 17, David erected a Tabernacle.

  366. What does that mean? David didn't do the Tabernacle

  367. of Moses. The Tabernacle of Moses was very

  368. detailed. And by this time, all of those

  369. furnishings, who knows where all of that even was?

  370. And so all he had was the Ark of God.

  371. So there's really no schematic for how the the Tabernacle of

  372. David laid out. But for most accounts and most

  373. scholars, it was an open tent and it had no veil.

  374. So if you imagine if I put up on the platform this tent that just

  375. kind of arced up, you know, kind of pitched right here and came

  376. down and the face of it was open right here.

  377. And you are all looking. And where I'm standing is the

  378. ark of God. That's kind of how the, the,

  379. the, the Tabernacle of David was.

  380. It was an open tent and everybody was singing and

  381. shouting and doing all of that on the outside of the tent, and

  382. the presence of the Lord was there.

  383. Inside of the Ark of David or in the Ark of the Lord and the Ark

  384. of the Covenant, it was there. And so David was so happy

  385. because though there wasn't a temple built yet and the full

  386. Tabernacle wasn't done yet, though that was in his heart to

  387. do, he was just relieved that I have the presence of the Lord.

  388. I have the presence of the Lord. In fact, look at Psalm chapter

    Psalms 132 chapter mention

  389. 132, verses four and five. It says I will not give sleep to

  390. my eyes or slumber to my eyelids until I find a place for the

  391. Lord, a dwelling place for the mighty one of Jacob.

  392. Verses 13 and 14 say, for the Lord has chosen Zion, He has

  393. desired it for his dwelling place.

  394. This is my resting place forever.

  395. Here I will dwell for I have desired it.

  396. This is David. He's he knows he's like I know

  397. where God wants to be. It's on Mount Zion.

  398. And so David went after it. Now this I'm I'm I'm prayerful

  399. that I'll be able to tie all this together because David had

  400. a zeal for the Lord that I think we're all supposed to have.

  401. Do you hear me like a hunger for that David said I won't give

  402. sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids until I find a place

  403. for the Lord. You know, I I, I, I can relate

  404. in a way, though I still I'm like, Lord, help me be like

  405. this, because that's whole nother level.

  406. But I have felt that for our church, like I know this is the

  407. will of God for our church, for this property, but also for us

  408. as individuals. I've known it.

  409. So it has felt sometimes like scrimping and clawing and, and

  410. like commando crawling through the muck and the spiritual

  411. warfare and all that it takes. Why?

  412. Because I'm like, I can't rest until we see it.

  413. I can't stop until I see it, until I see it with my own eyes.

  414. And I experienced a level of this at our church in

  415. California. But I think there are other,

  416. there are other levels. Glory to glory.

  417. There's a there's more. And so it's like, you know, I

  418. feel like this Arise conference is part of that.

  419. It's like it's, it's taking steps, It's just being obedient.

  420. It's just continuing to. Do what we.

  421. Have to do and by the way, this is me commando crawling unless I

  422. look, you know, weird to you, but I'm not going to like lay on

  423. the ground and do it. But you know what I'm saying?

  424. Like crawling through the muck to get to where God has for us

  425. as a church. Psalm chapter 63, verse 2 says,

    Psalms 63:2

  426. so I have looked for you in the sanctuary to see your power and

  427. your glory. The Lord loved the Tabernacle of

  428. David because there was something audacious about David

  429. to think like, oh, I don't need all the other stuff.

  430. I'm just going to set up the presence of the Lord right here

  431. on top of Mount Zion because that's where he wants to be

  432. anyways. And I'm just going to make it

  433. work. And there was something about

  434. that, though God didn't like the, the, the new cart that

  435. wasn't good. But there was something about

  436. David's heart for the presence of the Lord that pleased God,

  437. that pleased God. I mean, most of us know it that

  438. he says that talking about David, that David was a man

  439. after his own heart. What does that mean?

  440. David was after it, He was going after it.

  441. He was that I won't give sleep to my eyes nor slumber to my

  442. eyelids. It was tenacious.

  443. And though he's he's suffered setbacks, 3 months, he let the

  444. presence of the Lord rest over there because it's like, I'm

  445. disappointed. But yeah, after three months,

  446. his heart wasn't so hard that he couldn't let a testimony melt.

  447. All that hardness, that disappointment.

  448. And he's like, all right, I'm going to go after it again.

  449. Do you hear me? He, he's not some superhero that

  450. we can't identify with. I can identify with that.

  451. I'm like, OK, I can hang, I can hang.

  452. I can keep going after it. Dave, the Lord loved the

  453. Tabernacle of David and there was there's something so

  454. prophetic about about this and who who knows?

  455. I mean, we don't have indication of did David.

  456. I mean, David had to have seen some things to know that this

  457. was really how God wanted to be long term, that the temple and

  458. the Tabernacle were really set up as as one, one, one way of

  459. approaching the presence of the Lord.

  460. But there was something that David caught that was like, but

  461. there's a different way. There's a different way.

  462. And it was prophesying of of something to come.

  463. In fact, Amos Chapter 9, verse 11 says this.

    Amos 9:11

  464. On that day, I will raise up the Tabernacle of David.

  465. This is prophecy which has fallen down and it's and repair

  466. its damages. I will raise up its ruins and

  467. rebuild it as in the days of old, that they may possess the

  468. remnant of Edom and all the Gentiles who are called by my

  469. name, says the Lord, who who does this thing.

  470. I will raise up not the temple of Solomon.

  471. I will raise up the Tabernacle of David.

  472. Now I love reading about the the the temple of Solomon.

  473. I mean it was glorious and and so much splendor, but the

  474. humility and the the the humble nature of the date, the

  475. Tabernacle of David. God says I'm going to raise that

  476. up which what was that it was the unencumbered access that

  477. people had to the presence of the Lord that even the Gentiles

  478. will one day the other non Jews, which is most of us in this room

  479. will have access to that place. What we see this show up again

  480. in Acts chapter 15. Read this Acts chapter 15.

Acts 15 chapter mention Acts 15 chapter mention

  481. The same prophecy shows up. I'll start in verse 12.

  482. Then all the multitude kept silent and listened to Barnabas

  483. and Paul declaring how many miracles and wonders God had

  484. worked through them among the Gentiles, and after that they

  485. had become silent. James answered, saying, men and

  486. brethren, listen to me. Simon has declared how God at

  487. the first visit of the Gentiles to take out of them a people for

  488. his name. And with this the words of the

  489. prophets agree, just as it is written.

  490. After this I will return and we'll rebuild the Tabernacle of

  491. David, which has fallen down. I will rebuild its ruins, and I

  492. will raise it up so that the rest of mankind may seek the

  493. Lord. Even all the Gentiles who are

  494. called by my name says the Lord who does all these things.

  495. This is wonderful because you know, hundreds and hundreds of

  496. years before this was said here, before James said this, Amos had

  497. said this. And so it's still the intent of

  498. God that he rebuild the Tabernacle of David.

  499. Well, what is it? What is it about this Tabernacle

  500. of David, this Open Access where God would dwell with us?

  501. Well, I want you to look at John chapter 1.

    John 1 chapter mention

  502. And I'm going as quick as I can and I hope you're catching this

  503. and we're going to, you're going to see it plainly in a minute.

  504. But John chapter one verse 14 and the Word became flesh and

  505. dwelt among us and we beheld his glory.

  506. The glory is of the only begotten of the Father, full of

  507. grace and truth. See, when Jesus came, it was

  508. God, Emmanuel, God with us. So think about that wasn't the

  509. splendor. He didn't come as a, a, a king

  510. with the title, with the crown. He didn't come in on the White

  511. Horse. He came in on a donkey.

  512. He was lowly, Isaiah said. He was stricken, smitten that he

  513. was. He was.

  514. He wasn't anything that any of us would have noticed as a king.

  515. And yet that's exactly how he came.

  516. He came very similar to the Tabernacle of David.

  517. Humble, humble, humble and open. We beheld Him, we beheld Him, we

  518. saw Him. He moved among the people and

  519. most people didn't recognize Him as the Son of God.

  520. Most people didn't recognize Him as the glory of God, and yet He

  521. was the full glory of God revealed to mankind and there

  522. were some who saw him. What does that mean?

  523. There were some who didn't have a veil over their eyes who

  524. couldn't see. There were some who's that veil

  525. was removed and they could see like Peter who said you are the

  526. Christ, the Son of the living God.

  527. To him it was that presence of the Lord was like right there.

  528. It was right there. There was a there was a temple

  529. at that time with all the things going on, going on, going on.

  530. There was the sacrifices were going on.

  531. The priests were going on, all of their work was going on that

  532. the the ark of the covenant was inside the temple.

  533. And yet here's Jesus moving in and out of the people all the

  534. time. The presence of the Lord that he

  535. dwelt among us. He dwelt among us.

  536. I want you to notice that he dwelt among us.

  537. So the presence of the Lord, the glory of God that we're talking

  538. about, it's sometimes you may not even catch it unless the

  539. veil is removed, unless you have eyes to see, unless you have a

  540. hunger like David, who says I won't slumber and I will not

  541. sleep until I see it. There's a connection here.

  542. David saw something of how this would eventually work out, that

  543. he was after hundreds of years before Jesus ever walked on the

  544. earth. He was searching for that, He

  545. was clawing for that. He was commando crawling for it,

  546. trying to find it. And yet here John is saying, And

  547. the word that came flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld

  548. his glory, we beheld his glory, we beheld his glory, we beheld

  549. his glory. Who, Jesus.

  550. Jesus. Jesus.

  551. Jesus Second Corinthians chapter 3, verse 9.

    2 Corinthians 3:9

  552. I'm just pumping you a scripture today.

  553. Some of you, if you haven't read your Bible this year, I just

  554. caught you up. You're just really, you're like,

  555. you're right on track. Just start today.

  556. Second Corinthians chapter 3 verse 9.

    2 Corinthians 3:9

  557. For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, someone

  558. call that the law. The ministry of righteousness

  559. exceeds much more in glory. For I am the righteousness of

  560. God in Christ Jesus. OK, so that exceeds much more in

  561. glory. For even what was made glorious

  562. had no glory in this respect because of the glory that

  563. excels. So in other words, when you

  564. compare the two, one seems like like no glory compared to the

  565. glory that excels, which is to those of us who are in Christ

  566. Jesus. I wish we could catch it.

  567. Lord help us. There's a lot of revelation in

  568. here. So I just pray that your eyes of

  569. understanding be open. For if what is passing was away

  570. was glorious, what remains is much more glorious.

  571. In other words, when we read a couple weeks ago about the glory

  572. of God that filled the temple with Solomon, the Bible is

  573. telling us right now that has passed away, what remains is

  574. much more glorious. Like what?

  575. You and I have the ability, and I'm not saying we've all

  576. experienced it yet, but what you have access to what you and I

  577. have access to, what we have the ability to experience.

  578. That kind of glory is much, much, much, much more glorious

  579. than that glory we read about in the old temple.

  580. That's what this is saying. They're explaining this because

  581. they're having to peel away some from trying to go back to the

  582. former, trying to seek after, well, what, what, what, what I

  583. want what they had, but they're saying no, for what if, for if

  584. what is passing away was glorious, what remains is much

  585. more glorious. Verse 12.

  586. Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of

  587. speech. Unlike Moses, who put a veil

  588. over his face so that the children of Israel could not

  589. look steadily at the end of what was passing away.

  590. Catch that he he put a veil over his face so the children of

  591. Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing

  592. away. In other words, they didn't even

  593. see the full glory. They saw the remnants of glory

  594. that was fading from Him when he went up the mountain to Mount

  595. Sinai and he met with the Lord there.

  596. When he came down, His face shone so much it scared them.

  597. He put a veil over his face to not scare them.

  598. Well, God's saying that was only a remnant of the glory and it

  599. was passing away. And so he, he, he had to put a

  600. veil over that. But verse 14 But their minds

  601. were blinded, for until this day the same veil remains unlifted

  602. in the reading of the Old Testament because the veil is

  603. taken away in Christ. Notice I said the Tabernacle of

  604. David had what? No veil?

  605. How is that possible? Jesus, Jesus.

  606. And So what we have access to is much more glorious than what

  607. they experienced in the 1st and 2nd temple where the Shekinah

  608. glory showed up, where the where the Kabat glory fell and it was

  609. so weighty. The priest just fell on their

  610. faces. What we have access to with

  611. unveiled face is so much more glorious than that.

  612. Come on, somebody say Amen, say Amen by faith, because some of

  613. us were like, I don't even know what that means for me yet, but

  614. I want it. You know, because the veil is is

  615. taken away in Christ verse 15. But even to this day when Moses

  616. is read a veil lies on their heart.

  617. Whose they the Jews. That's true today as well.

  618. For those that haven't made Jesus Lord of their life,

  619. there's there's still a veil. They cannot see that Jesus was

  620. the Messiah. Jesus is the Christ.

  621. Verse 16. Nevertheless, when one turns to

  622. the Lord, the veil is taken away.

  623. Now the Lord is spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is, guess

  624. what, there is liberty. What does liberty mean?

  625. There means there's no veil. There's no distance, there's no

  626. separation. There's no, I'm going to put you

  627. over there in Obed Edom's house. Now there's full fellowship.

  628. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

  629. Now most of us have have proclaimed that and I think it's

  630. still applicable that, you know, when God's here in this place,

  631. there's no, there's no oppression, there's no bondage,

  632. all of that. That's true.

  633. I believe that. But I see this also as very

  634. relational. Where the Spirit of the Lord is,

  635. there is liberty to fellowship with him.

  636. There's no distance, there's no veil, there's no blockages,

  637. there's no filter. I'm not held back anymore

  638. because of my sin. Why?

  639. Because I'm now under the ministry of righteousness.

  640. So listen, all of those of you who have made Jesus the Lord of

  641. your life, you now have full access to the presence and the

  642. glory of God. You're no longer on the outside

  643. looking in. You're no longer wishful like,

  644. oh, I wish I was a certain kind of way.

  645. No, if any man is in Christ, he is a new creation.

  646. Behold, all things have passed away and behold, all things

  647. become new. So now you're standing before

  648. him, a new creation. So now you have the ability to

  649. come to this Tabernacle of David and worship Him freely, worship

  650. him freely. You get to worship him in the

  651. glory of His Holiness. That's how we get to have these

  652. moments in church that just, you can just tell we just ascended

  653. somewhere. We just went up.

  654. That's the best way I can say is there are times in worship where

  655. I'm like, I'm not here anymore. I'm there.

  656. I'm like, I ascended, I went up the there's, there's several

  657. psalms that are called the Psalms of ascent.

  658. And it's like there's these songs that we go up and now

  659. you're in the presence of the Lord and you're like in that

  660. Tabernacle, the Tabernacle of David.

  661. And it's humble and sometimes it doesn't look glorious to man's

  662. eyes, but yet to the Lord. Oh, His glory is so there.

  663. It's so there. Nevertheless, when one turns to

  664. the Lord, the veil is taken away.

  665. And now where this now the Lord is spirit, and where the Spirit

  666. of the Lord is, there is liberty.

  667. But we all with unveiled face. We all, we all with unveiled

  668. face. So in other words, who am I

  669. relating to the unveiled? I see, I see clearly now.

  670. I'm not blinded anymore. I was once blind, but now I see

  671. I'm not blind anymore. I with unveiled face, beholding

  672. as in a mirror, the glory of the Lord.

  673. Me, I'm I'm beholding as in a mirror, the glory of the Lord.

  674. Or being transformed into the same image.

  675. What image? What I'm beholding, what I'm

  676. looking at. So imagine Tabernacle of David,

  677. imagine everyone's on the outside and they're beholding,

  678. they're beholding the presence of the Lord for us, we don't

  679. have this a wooden box anymore with gold in layer or anything

  680. like that. We, we come into the presence of

  681. the Lord and he's spirit. So now we don't see him with

  682. flesh and blood eyes. We, his spirit just here.

  683. OK, That's what the scripture is saying.

  684. And so we where, there's where his spirit is, we behold him so

  685. many times I just close my eyes and I'm like, I just behold him.

  686. I just behold him and, and I don't have to make up imagery.

  687. My spirit goes there. I don't have to imagine him on

  688. the cross. My spirit goes there.

  689. My spirit goes to a place of worship of him and beholding him

  690. and, and loving him and, and, and, and then this says that as

  691. you do that, you're transformed. And then all the sudden you

  692. become like him. And all the sudden that glory,

  693. the glory of God, that weighty presence of the Lord transfers.

  694. And now that glory is not something His presence, not

  695. something that's over there. His presence is something that's

  696. right here. And that is when you're

  697. transformed. Because when you have to still

  698. come to this place to be in His presence, you haven't yet been

  699. transformed. Because when you're transformed

  700. into his glory, Tabernacle of David, when you're transformed

  701. like that, then you realize, oh, I become his glory.

  702. Therefore, when I walk away, He's with me.

  703. And when I get in the car and I drive home, He's there.

  704. And then I sense His glory in the car.

  705. I can sense it in the cubicle. I can sense it in the delivery

  706. truck. I can sense His glory, manifest

  707. presence there. Why?

  708. Because we all with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror,

  709. His glory, the glory of the Lord.

  710. We're being transformed into the same image from glory to glory,

  711. just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

  712. Are you all catching what I'm saying today?

  713. Oh, this is deep. I know it's deep.

  714. So I know like put on your face mask and go submarine with me

  715. today. We're going a little deep.

  716. That's OK. John, chapter 17, verse 22.

    John 17:22

  717. And Tim, if you'll come, and in fact, if you just be Tim, not

  718. the rest of the team, just Tim, the glory which you gave me,

  719. this is Jesus talking. The glory which You gave me, I

  720. have given them. The glory which You have given

  721. me, this is Jesus talking to Father God.

  722. The glory which You have given me, I have given them.

  723. The glory which you have given me, I have given them.

  724. We as with unveiled face, beholding Him, beholding Him,

  725. beholding the glory of the Lord, we are transformed to become in

  726. the same image. The glory you have given me.

  727. I have given them the glory I see.

  728. Most of us, we're not here yet. And I pray in the name of Jesus

  729. that veils come off today so you can see.

  730. Oh, I have been living subpar. I've been living on the outside

  731. looking in. I've been living, appreciating

  732. the presence of God, but not beholding to where I become

  733. transformed, to where I become like that.

  734. And something is transferred, something is transmitted and

  735. then I'm transformed. I'm not, I'm not the same

  736. person. I'm different.

  737. I'm, I'm like Moses whose face shone.

  738. My countenance is different because I've been in his

  739. presence, because I've beheld him.

  740. I've taken time to to be, to be changed.

  741. See, honestly, we don't have enough time in Sunday morning

  742. services for that level of transformation to take place.

  743. This beholding has to happen on the regular.

  744. It has to happen at home. It has to what's, what's the

  745. time frame on it? I don't know, but it's probably

  746. more than we're doing. And there's a beholding that God

  747. is saying, OK, you really want my glory.

  748. You have to behold me. You have to look at me.

  749. You know, it's like a child if they were to come up to you and

  750. you know, you're like doing the dishes and they're wanting your

  751. attention. You're like, you know, I'm just.

  752. And they kind of take you and they take your face and they

  753. steal it and they're like. Look at me, could it be that God

  754. is? Taking a rise church and he's

  755. taken us by the face. And he's all Look at me.

  756. You want my glory, look at me. Look at me, behold me, take it

  757. in. Stop rushing.

  758. Stop. Stop being distracted.

  759. Stop. Building new carts.

  760. Behold, behold me, behold me. So as I was preparing for this,

  761. it was like our foundational scripture made a whole new made

  762. sense in a whole new way. Arise, shine, for your light has

  763. gone, the glory of the Lord has risen upon you, the glory of the

  764. Lord has risen upon you. How Jesus?

  765. And you behold him, and you look at him, and you, you worship

  766. him. And we don't have to go to Mount

  767. Zion anymore. We just pause and we welcome

  768. him, and then wherever we are, he comes.

  769. Wherever two or three are gathered together in my name, I

  770. am there, I'm there, I'm there in the midst.

  771. And right there in that place, the two or three gathered, you

  772. behold Him, you worship Him. We honour Him.

  773. So if you would close your eyes, arise, shine, for your light has

  774. come in the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.

  775. For behold, darkness will cover the earth, in deep darkness the

  776. people, but the Lord will arise over you, and His glory will be

  777. seen upon you. Listen to me with your eyes

  778. closed, His glory will be seen upon you.

  779. I prophecy that over you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

  780. No matter how deep you feel you're in it, no matter how

  781. discouraged it's been, the glory of God Himself will be risen
