You're listening to a message to go from acts church.
-
We hope this message will light up your tea.
-
A horse that has been tested has been broken, means
-
that the horses the will is not a wild will,
-
but a will totally submitted to the master who rides
-
it for his purpose. It's for his will, it's for
-
his plans, his purposes, and he has got great plans
-
for your life and mine. Can I hear a good amail?
-
You know? In this world, people go for skill, they
-
go for talent, strength, experience. Oh, people go for brains
-
and beauty, ability, and of affluence. That's how the world works, right,
-
isn't that true? That's how we choose. God chooses broken people,
-
but we choose perfect people. We choose people with all
-
the skills and all the talent. When God wanted wanted
-
to choose musicians, he chooses broken musicians because broken musicians
-
bring about the best, most beautiful music and lyrics. You know,
-
Compare one who has never suffered and he writes a song.
-
And compare and compare to one who has suffered so
-
much pain and brokenness and he writes a song or
-
she writes a song. See which of the songs touches
-
you more, goes further ministers, and gives God more glory.
-
When broken people step up to do what God has
-
called them to do, they create more than just excellence
-
and eloquence. They release an anointing, don't they, As David
-
did when he ministered to King Saul with music. It
-
David didn't have perfection. David, you know, was probably rejected
-
many times. The father almost forgot that he had the
-
eighth son. You know, when the prophet asked for all
-
the sons to pass by, and God was choosing the
-
next king had the prophet had to ask, do you
-
have one anymore sons? And if other you know, oh yeah,
-
one more. He's not around his he's out there taking
-
care of a few sheep. And the prophet Prophet Samuel said,
-
we won't sit down until he comes. Youngest RADI looking,
-
you know, inexperience. David played the harp, and he didn't
-
just play as one who was like known to be
-
a top musician. But when he was playing, annoying and
-
came forth removed the distressing, depressing spirit from King Saulile
-
first disciple first is truly counterculture to go against the
-
ways of the world. That always just looks at perfection
-
and beauty and talent and skill. God looks at the heart,
-
you know, friends, something of God is produced in us
-
only through brokenness. That's why it has to happen. It
-
only happens, you know. Like for example, when you think
-
about the pearl, the pearl can only be formed no
-
other way except that some irritant, some dirt goes into
-
the oyster. And what happens is that there is a
-
chemical that is released and a protection mechanism comes about,
-
and it begins to form a beautiful, precious pearl. That
-
peerl doesn't happen without the irritation. That which God wants
-
to bring about in our lives, that is more precious
-
than God, doesn't happen until brokenness happens. It cannot be
-
obtained in any other way. And that which is produced
-
in us is exactly what God needs to fulfill his
-
plans and purposes in and through our lives. What is
-
God after? It could be humility, It could be compassion.
-
It could be patience. It could be respect. It could
-
be disciplined. It could be submission. It could be forgiveness,
-
The ability to show mercy and not be so judgmental.
-
When we don't go through brokenness, we still hold on,
-
you know, to things that we feel. We are we
-
have the right to feel, and we feel like you know,
-
that guy doesn't deserve this. He doesn't deserve my forgiveness,
-
He doesn't deserve my mercy. You know, we still have
-
an amount of arrogance, but we don't call it arrogance.
-
We call it and cover it with another name and
-
give it an excuse, and see, I have every right
-
to feel this way. Blah blah blah. But it's only
-
when we are broken that something is produced. We begin
-
to see things in a very different light. In the end,
-
it's really the breaking of our will. Our will is
-
very strong, so breaking happens so that our will can
-
be broken, so that God's will can be done in
-
our lives. Remember what Jesus said, nevertheless, not my will,
-
but yours be done. How many of you have ever
-
seen a beautiful painting of wild horses, Oh, they are
-
the most beautiful things. Wild horses are only good for paintings.
-
You will never be able to ride a wild horse
-
into war. A general will never ride a horse that
-
has never been tested. And what is a horse that
-
has been tested. A horse that has been tested has
-
been broken, means that the horse's will is not a
-
wild will, but a will totally submitted to the master
-
who rides it for his purpose. Don't just be a
-
beautiful painting where people just go and look at you
-
and go like wow ooh my miye so nice, but no,
-
godly use You know when breaking is complete, when you
-
don't go back to who you were before. If you
-
find that after the breaking of a few weeks, maybe
-
you know, let's say, for example, you were rude to
-
your wife, or maybe you were so impatient, very impatient
-
with your children, and then you find you know, you
-
are humbled for a few weeks, and then by the
-
fourth week, you know you think that okay, now I
-
think I'm better. I think I'm better, I think I'm better. Okay, God,
-
i think I've learned it. Let's already now, can you
-
please end the breaking? And then you know the law
-
is very silent. And then three hours later your children
-
do something and then you find yourself backing at them
-
because maybe it's still in you. It's still in you,
-
and God is still working. So really, at the end,
-
they don't tell God when he should finish. He knows
-
when he's finished. And this is what you need to
-
be looking for. You look for this. I don't want
-
to go back to who I was before, and through
-
all the testing you find. Yeah, I think I really
-
have got it now. I think I really have got
-
a better hold of my temper. Now I think I
-
got a better hold of my mouth. Now I think
-
I've got a better hold of my thoughts. Now I
-
think I've got a better control of the way I react.
-
Now I am really changed. No, no, but not because
-
I say it. I'm changed, but because God allowed the time. Again,
-
Please don't short change God. Don't be impatient, learn to surrender.
-
God knows exactly. Okay, there will be a version two,
-
if not a virgin three of you and me. It
-
will be a much better version. Somebody say, Amen, so
-
much better version, and we will be more ready to
-
do God's will. Amen. Now remember the woman Mary of
-
Bethany who broke the Allah bastar flash. What happened? You know?
-
It was so costly the disciples even thought what a
-
waste the woman broke. It takes the breaking alabaster flask
-
filled with costly spikenard perfume. You know, when she broke
-
that and anointed jesus head with that precious oil. Can
-
you imagine the fragrance. It's not just Jesus could smell it.
-
It's not just the woman who could smell it. It's
-
not just the people who are seated nearby. If you
-
want to fill a room with the fragrance of the Lord,
-
then take the opportunity that God has given you and
-
I the opportunity of breaking. And let that breaking not
-
bring bitterness, not bring anger and a shout, what a waste.
-
But let that breaking, it is happening in your heart
-
and my heart, be one that will bring about a
-
costly fragrance is a fragrance from a broken life and
-
being in Bethany, says Mark, chapter fourteen, verse three, six
-
eight nine. Being in Bethany at the house of Simon
-
the Lepper, as he sat at the table, a woman came,
-
having an alabaster flask of very costly oil of spikee nat.
-
Then she broke the flowers hallelujah, and poured it on
-
his head. There was no other way, ladies and gentlemen,
-
There was no other way for this fragrance to be
-
experienced by everybody, except that the thing that held the
-
fragrance be broken. She broke the flowers and poured it
-
on his head. But Jesus said, let her alone. Why
-
do you trouble her? She has done a good work
-
for me. You know, friends, when I think about brokenness,
-
I think about this very thing that God allows is
-
not just for us, but it's for him. Think about
-
it for a moment, because too many of us always
-
think about ourselves. Right, Why me? Why now? Why are
-
the inconvenience? Why so hard? Why the burden on my
-
loved ones? Why? Why? And it's a lot of us
-
me And it's not totally wrong, because it's natural. But
-
the supernatural way of seeing it is that God allows
-
breaking and brokenness because at the end of the day,
-
it's for him. It's for his will, it's for his plans,
-
his purposes, and He has got great plans for your
-
life and mind. Can I hear a good amen? She
-
has done what she could. She has come beforehand to annoying.
-
There you go again, what annoyed? That's what breaking is
-
for my body, for burial, As surely I say to you,
-
wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world. What
-
this woman has done will also be told as a
-
memorial for her. Remember that Jesus was let into the
-
wilderness to be tempted. But remember this also. I said
-
it before, I'll say it again. What God allows, Satan
-
will take advantage. So when God allowed me to go
-
through this injury and to go through this time of
-
recovery and through this time of waiting, and I have
-
been in pain, and I have been broken, and I
-
have been you know, crying out to God, I have
-
all those times up and down. And as God allows this,
-
the flies will come. You know, like when you cooked
-
a really good meal. You put the plate of good food,
-
good smelling food on the table, and then the flies
-
start coming. The flies didn't come when the dish is
-
not done. Satan like a fly. By Elzeba, the Bible
-
calls him lord of the flies. He is a fly.
-
He's the lord of the flies. All right. We don't
-
like flies in our kitchen. We don't like flies in
-
our home and our lives. All right. When you see
-
all those countries where there's poverty and there's illness and
-
all that kind of stuff, you see flies is coming
-
onto people's faces, faces of children. Right, that's a very
-
demonic picture. Really, and we don't want flies, We don't
-
want The Lord of flies bells them, but we don't
-
want him. But he will come. The Lord would allow,
-
and Satan would take advantage. Remember the forbidden tree in
-
the garden of Eden. God allowed the tree to be there,
-
you know, and that very one tree broke Adam. And
-
if God allowed it, but who was taking advantage of it? Satan?
-
God would allow you some people are people be asking
-
of today? Why did God allow the tree to be there?
-
If he knew you shouldn't be eaten? Well, that's how
-
people get broken. Meaning you say that Adam and Eve
-
didn't need you sin. But just by saying no, I
-
can't take this fruit, No I can't, that's a level
-
of brokenness because if you can say yes to everything,
-
then we don't have to feel pain suffering, we don't
-
have to feel inhibited, we don't have to feel anything
-
except yay, I can do anything I want to do.
-
I'm a lord of my life, you know. God put
-
a tree there to say no, you are not God
-
of everything. I am God of everything. And so just
-
by saying no and bending your will to God's will,
-
that's a form of brokenness. But listen, the devil came
-
and tried to short change that brokenness and told them
-
and Eve that they can do anything, they can be
-
like God. So instead of being broken God's way, they
-
were broken by Satan, ultimately by a lie. Don't listen
-
to Satan's lives. Now, let's look at Luke four one, thirteen,
-
and fourteen. Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit,
-
returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit
-
into the wilderness. Or even Jesus himself, the son of God,
-
was brought led by the Holy Spirit into a place
-
of breaking. That's what wilderness and desert is is not
-
a party, is not a buffet. It's a place of isolation, nothingness.
-
But Jesus was led by the Spirit. Now, when the
-
devil had ended every temptation, says verse thirteen, he departed
-
from Jesus until an opportune time. Now I underline opportune
-
time because I have recognized opportune time to mean that
-
Satan came when Jesus was being broken in the wilderness.
-
That is the first opportune time. And so the next
-
opportune time will be when Jesus will go through breaking again.
-
And so the devil is an opportunist. He will take
-
opportunity in an opportune time. But maybe you didn't understand
-
what opportunity time meant is because we don't go through
-
breaking every day. We don't go through breaking even every year,
-
or maybe some level of it, but not always painful,
-
not always desperate. So the devil knows that he can
-
only get to you, can he can really really get
-
to you at the opportune time, meaning the opportunity and
-
time that God allowed something to happen. That is his
-
opportune time God allowed it. Otherwise you will always be
-
protected by God. Right, you will always be covered by God. Right,
-
God would allow nothing bad to happen to you. But
-
when God allows something that seems to be bad in
-
the eyes of the world, you see because at all
-
other times, you're always covered, you're always provided for. And
-
then sometimes God just allows something. You know that opportune
-
time Satan is waiting for because that's when he believes
-
he can get you. Are you going through a breaking
-
time now, a brokenness, a painful suffering time? Now be
-
careful because this is this is an opportune time for
-
Satan as well. But don't allow him to have any opportunity. Amen,
-
But you and I can take the opportunity in Christ
-
to do what. Let me read the last verse there,
-
verse fourteen. Then Jesus returned in the power of the
-
Spirit to Galilee, and news of him went out through
-
all the surrounding region. We will come back with power,
-
ladies and gentlemen, brothers and sisters. Are you listening to me?
-
Do you hear my heart? I also believe in Christ
-
that I will come out of this suffering, out of
-
this brokenness, out of this cave, out of you know,
-
my time of recovery, with the power of the Holy Spirit. Now,
-
if I read this to you again, you will see
-
three things. It says in verse one, Jesus, being filled
-
with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was
-
led by the Spirit. So verse one already says phil
-
and Lead. Why is the Bible so specific? Because sometimes
-
we can be filled by the spirit, and many of
-
you are, but not Lead. It's not complete. We all
-
want to be filled with the Holy Spirit, but we
-
also want to be led. So don't just be filled. Everybody.
-
Come on, in the name of Jesus, I pray that
-
God will fill you more and more. Even those of
-
you who are not filled, lift up your hands say yes, Lord,
-
I desire to be filled. But number two, we want
-
to be led by your Holy Spirit. Lead every decision,
-
every direction that we can take or should take. Oh God,
-
we want you not only to fill us, but to
-
lead us. But number three, listen, there's a difference being filed.
-
That's a difference being led. And finally, there's a difference
-
being or having the power of the Spirit. Feel led
-
and empowered.
