You're listening to a message to go from acts church.
-
We hope this message will light up your day.
-
If you only fast and not pray, it's called a diet.
-
Sometimes the enemy has got what you need and you
-
have to knock. That door has to open, and you
-
have to tell the devil gives me what is mine.
-
When you really want to see a breakthrough, you don't
-
worry about the knob. Fast, Really, ladies and gentlemen, brothers
-
and sisters, is a kind of prayer. When you read
-
the Bible, especially in the Old Testament, they don't often
-
say fast and pray. We use it now because we
-
want to make sure all of us get it that
-
we don't just fast, we pray because if you only
-
fast and not pray, it's called a diet. So in
-
the Old Desctament, as soon as a person say fast,
-
they mean pray, because fast is a form of prayer.
-
In fact, it is the highest form. It's the is
-
the kind of prayer that is really deep. When God
-
sees a person fast, he knows you mean business, I
-
said earlier. He knows you are serious. Because people will
-
simply fast if they don't need to. I assu you
-
with me because life carries on, especially.
-
Here in Malaysia.
-
How to fast, ladies and gentlemen, How too fast you wakened?
-
You know?
-
To tell you seriously, wherever I travel in the world,
-
I want to come back to Malaysia.
-
I tell you where. We'll provide you.
-
Road China at seven am, you know, and chuck it
-
out at eight you know, and.
-
Whatever you know. I mean, this country is so blessed.
-
You know.
-
The day I left Melbourne was the day this few
-
days ago, was the day they declare that Melbourne the
-
most livable city.
-
Well I left. I want to announce to you.
-
I left the most livable city to come to what
-
I believe is the most livapool.
-
Come on, come on, somebody with convictions. Amen, Praise the Lord. Yeah,
-
I'm hearing claps. Good good. We must be proud of
-
what God is given us. Amen. God is so good. Hallelujah.
-
So But to fast in Malaysia not easy. The sacrifice
-
is higher. God knows so fast when you fast. When
-
you fast, it's prayer. The deeper kind of prayer is
-
the key in the as k Do you know what
-
Ask and you shall receive, Seek and you shall find,
-
Knock and it shall be open to you. I believe
-
that us is just God. Please help me ask see
-
if you know you go seeking for the answer. But
-
knock is where you're desperate because it's not coming. You
-
don't know when it's coming. You know, last time when
-
I was prepregnice message, you know what picture the lot
-
gave my mind? And maybe if you're from overseas or
-
you're so young here, you've never seen a wedding, especially
-
a Chinese wedding here in Malaysia.
-
Let me try to explain something to you.
-
Now. When I was married thirty one years ago, I
-
didn't do it. I didn't do it. I thought it
-
was just very my fun and my fun in translation
-
just means very inconvenient to go to your girlfriend's house
-
soon to be your wife, to go and receive her,
-
to go and collect collect her. So have you been
-
in this kind of an event before.
-
It's called cheap suddenly long.
-
Oh you thought we didn't speak in tongues here, right.
-
Cheap suddenly long means you go and receive, You go
-
and bring your woman to yourself, You go and collector
-
you go and receive it. Okay, So you understand that
-
you've got to go to the house where she stays.
-
Usually it is her parents' house. Yes, how many of
-
you have done?
-
She suddenly, long before coming limits your hands confess Now, yeah,
-
it is fun.
-
It's fun. I love to see it. I don't love
-
to do it because it's torture for the guy.
-
Torture, you know. And so the guy goes to the house.
-
Have you done it? And your your your husband? Did
-
he do it for you? You? When did you come? Noah?
-
Or you're the maxalit meet you at the chapel.
-
Hey, okay, so we're going.
-
We're going. The guy is going.
-
Okay, and and and the whole team rogers, I know,
-
and the whole team of guys, right guys, guy friends.
-
They call him Hintai means buddy, the best buddy all
-
following the delegation, and they're horning and become a real
-
nuisance to.
-
The whole communit. But we are very forgiving, you.
-
Know, because we know that you only get married once,
-
hopefully and and uh, and you're holding The guy is
-
excited right that he gets to the house and he's
-
horning more more morning and he's.
-
Screaming, Ah, you know, we're here to get the bride.
-
We're here to get the bride, okay, and then they
-
park in front of the house. And then as the
-
guys have hinged eyes, which is best buddy guys, the
-
women have got Giemi, which is best buddy girls. And
-
the best buddy girls exist just to torture the guys.
-
That's just their purpose for that day. And so the
-
guys come with the first a ask can you open?
-
I want to get my wife to be and they
-
have to do a series of things like it's sand.
-
But you know, just go to go through challenges.
-
Give me twenty push ups, you know, and sometimes you
-
know the bright groom, uh, you know is spared from
-
doing it sometimes and then his best buddies, his hing
-
ties have got to do it. You know they're doing that.
-
Okay.
-
Now you know jam over fire, now you know, uh,
-
kiss the dog. You know, they just rogers. What was
-
your worst one? What was your Just tell me? I know,
-
I'm sure they did.
-
Something to you. Let's card you for life.
-
Rogers dancing, right, so they forced you to dance to
-
how can music?
-
Okay? All right? Jaho is it now? Hock can music? Okay?
-
Okay, okay, So anyone can tell me of the experiences
-
one more or two more, let's make it fun.
-
What's the worst you have ever heard? Anyway?
-
One now you are still thinking, Oh, I'm so embarrassed.
-
You don't want to say.
-
But one of my friends got married, right They asked
-
him to drink the father. The father asked him to
-
drink whiskey or brandy neat on an empty stomach, right
-
early in the morning. Had to finish a whole glass,
-
not a little bit, the whole glass he drank and
-
almost couldn't make it for his wedding. Serious, if we
-
had bring the nurse and all the other You look
-
at all his suit, his tie, his shirt because they
-
had to sponge him down.
-
Crazy sometimes this crazy. You know.
-
Anyway, ask and you shall receive. But you know you
-
now have to go into the house and seek. Do
-
you know that the answer was always in the house,
-
So you ask. The front gate is open. Now you
-
have to go in and seek. Do you know that
-
when God wants to answer you, but he causes you
-
to seek, it's not because he hasn't answered you.
-
It's already there. The answer has always been there.
-
The woman that you're seeking for in that house, he's
-
always been in her room. But Finally, as you seek
-
and get to her room, you have a door you
-
have to knock because the answer is right behind that door.
-
Sometimes the enemy has got what you need and you
-
have to knock. That door has to open, and you
-
have to tell the devil give me what is mine,
-
let it go. Amen, You've got to You've got to
-
tell the enemy.
-
Okay.
-
Now I'm not saying that the woman behind the door
-
is the devil.
-
She's your wife.
-
Okay, all right, So this is fast thing? Is the
-
key is the knock?
-
You with me?
-
And when you knock, you know, the Bible says, right,
-
even if the king it was a wicked king, he will.
-
Still get up.
-
Even if it's a wicked king, he will still get
-
up because you're knocking incessantly, a non stop knocking is
-
causing him to not be able to sleep. But our
-
King Jesus is not wicked. He is good, and that
-
door will be open. Can I hear good?
-
Amen? Is the kind fast thing?
-
Is the kind of prayer, the kind that skips the norm,
-
just to focus on the need.
-
What is the norm? Eating is the norm?
-
You know you're focused so focused on the need, skipping
-
the norm becomes the norm. You're so focused on the
-
need as you're praying. You know, when you're focused on studying,
-
you forget to eat. Sometimes when you're focusing on repairing something,
-
you forget to eat because you want to get it done.
-
You're focusing on the deadline. You're so focused on the need,
-
the norm passes by. Let me tell you a little
-
bit more about Passandra's illness. The last four days so
-
because she was in pain, I mean every five seconds
-
she was moaning.
-
Oh.
-
And as a husband, I just couldn't take it. The
-
last thing a husband wants to see his wife go
-
through is pain. So I prayed for her, prayed for
-
her again, pray for her again, pay for her again.
-
And then she said, I can't sleep on the bed.
-
The pain is too much. I can't breathe. So the
-
whole night she slept on the chair in the hotel.
-
So I tried to prop her feet up. I put
-
a chair there. I said, you prop your feet up.
-
She was having chills, so you know, you try to
-
cover her up, But how do you sleep on the chair?
-
You know, for the whole night she had to but
-
she was in such pain. And the next tilve hours
-
is going to be crucial. The doctor already said, if
-
you are worse tomorrow morning, we got to admit you.
-
Right.
-
We both wanted to come back so badly. So I
-
tell you what happened. Prayed for her. Seven thirty pray
-
for it, eightyy pray for it, ninetyty pray for it,
-
t toty pray for her.
-
And then she didn't eat because she had no appetite.
-
So I knew that sometime in the morning, early morning,
-
should be awake, and I cannot afford her to not
-
eat when she's hungry, because then the guests could be worse.
-
So I stayed up right from Yeah, seven thirty eighty
-
d is not no problem.
-
Ten thirty no problem.
-
I mean most of you stay up quite late. Cholf
-
thirty I saw her closing her eyes and going uh.
-
And from then I decided I will not sleep. So
-
I went on my bed, I looked at her, and
-
I just prayed in tongues.
-
Charles. The ty became one thirty, one day became two thirty,
-
two thirty, giving three thirty.
-
And I don't know why, but I could stay awake
-
no one time be my eyes closed because I really
-
needed to see a breakthrough in her life. And then
-
once or twice she broke into a snore because to
-
tan one. And after I heard her hear her snore,
-
it was the best noise I could hear. Because when
-
you want your wife to sleep, I say, Lord, let
-
her snow. Please louder even better, because that means she's sleeping,
-
and I'm praying. I'm saying, God, have mercy on my wife.
-
Three thirty, she woke up and her eyes were opened.
-
My eyes were really opened, right, so I look anything.
-
She said, I'm hungry. I got up and made her
-
some instant noodles, not the healthiest thing at a hotel.
-
We don't have a pantry, you know, So I just
-
made her instant noodles.
-
And fed her.
-
She could only eat like maybe five spoons or five
-
chop chopsticks full because every timer I said, no, you've
-
got to put something in.
-
And then she ate.
-
Then she fell asleep again, and then I decided because
-
the ugh, the morning, ugh, it has gone. The pain
-
is gone, and so she fell asleep, and then I
-
stayed up for another hour, so only by four thirty,
-
when I knew that the worst has passed, I then
-
fell asleep, only to wait, only to wake up again
-
at six thirty, you know, to do my quiet time.
-
But it was a tough night.
-
But I'm telling you right now, when you really want
-
to see somebody breakthrough, when there is a real need,
-
the norm passes by. You understand, When you really want
-
to see a breakthrough, you don't worry about the norm.
-
And eating is a norm, and social media is a norm,
-
and just picking up your phone and playing with it
-
is a norm. But you just so focused. And I
-
was so focused in getting my wife well. She had
-
to break through that morning. And break through she did,
-
praise the Lord. Fever left her, or that left her okay.
-
She still had the pain the next twelve hours because
-
again the gastric didn't fully get healed.
-
But she was past the worst.
-
And now both of us knew that we would make
-
that flight on Thursday afternoon.
-
I'll tell you what.
-
It was a supernatural strength, because I by myself cannot
-
stay up so long for four or five six hours,
-
just praying pray. I said to the Lord, I say, Lord,
-
thank you that when you want to help us get
-
things done, you help us get things done. And if
-
we just go by the natural, we will say it
-
cannot be done. But God is not just natural, He
-
is super natural. Sometimes fasting is known as intercession. That's
-
what I did actually that morning, I interceded for her.
-
What does interced mean? And you know the Bible speaks
-
about it. Inter Seed just means standing in the gap.
-
And you know when you stand in the gap, like
-
there's a gap and a person is trying to walk across,
-
but there's a gap. She can't get across, he can't
-
get across. But you stand in that gap. You know
-
what happens. You know when standing the gap ends. It
-
ends only when that person you're praying for crosses over.
-
And that early morning, my wife cross over from a
-
place of terrible pain to a place of bearable pain.
-
She crossed over. She was not going to be worse.
-
The next morning, and so therefore didn't need to be
-
admitted to the hospital.
-
She crossed over.
-
But someone has to stand in the gap. And the
-
person who's crossing over me had to step on you.
-
But that's what interced means. Let your intercession continue until
-
she passes to where she needs to go, the crossover. Everybody, okay.
-
Fasting is often known as the intercessory kind of prayer.
-
It's the kind that is reserved for the big things,
-
says the next life. The goliaths in our lives.
-
You don't simply do it. You don't do it any
-
time and every time. No no, no, no, no, no,
-
no no. We reserve it for the goliaths.
-
There are big things in our lives, big ticket items
-
that need us to fast. So let's look at this
-
quote that God gave me some years ago and is
-
found in my book Transpiration. And this is the quote,
-
I fast because I'm hungry. It sounds like such an opposite,
-
because people fast right when you're full. You eat when
-
you're hungry. But when I talk about hunger here, I'm
-
not talking just about physical hunger. I'm talking about a
-
hunger where there is a tinge of desperation, a level
-
of like, I can't do it, God, if you don't
-
come through, I can achieve this.
-
I can overcome this God by my own strength. I
-
need you. I need you.
-
And so you're hungry in your heart, in your soul,
-
in your mind and your spirit. You're hungry for something
-
that you know that no one else can fulfill, no
-
one else can feel, no one else can.
-
Do but God.
-
And if God does not move it will not be done.
-
So I fast because I'm hungry, and that's why people
-
get fast, because they are spread for something in their
-
lives or in the lives of their loved ones.
