Finding Rest

I'm gonna uh read the scripture, raise a question, pray, and then we'll talk.

Sound good?

Alright, Matthew 11, starting in verse 28.

Jesus said, Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you, let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.

We've been in a series we're calling Well Done.

Uh, we're looking at what does it mean to live a life well done.

We want to do it the best we can.

So the first three weeks we started talking about things like dealing with stress.

Uh, how do you manage stress?

We talked about overcoming pain.

What do you do with life's pain?

Last week we talked about anger.

Uh brought up my sister who's a clinical counselor and looked at uh the healthiest way to manage our anger.

And this week I want to wrestle with the question: how do we find rest?

Uh living life well will have a lot to do with our ability to rest.

And maybe for you, you've found rest to be elusive.

And uh today I think I've got some things that'll help you.

Let's open in prayer.

Lord, we bring ourselves to you open.

Uh the soil of our hearts are fertile.

We want to hear from you.

So do what you do.

Speak to us collectively as a body, but also individually and custom.

We want to receive from you.

In Jesus' name, all God's people said, Amen.

2 Timothy 3.16 says that all scripture is given by the inspiration of God.

All scripture is inspired or God breathed and is profitable or useful for things like doctrine or reproof or correction or instruction in righteousness.

That men and women of God would be thoroughly furnished, would be equipped to do the good works.

In other words, God's word does a lot of things.

It's multifaceted and it's relevant to your life, not just an antiquated text, but a real life, living, breathing thing that will speak to you about what to do.

Hebrews 4 says the word of God is living and active and sharper than a two-edged sword, that it pierces into your heart.

If you've ever been in a service where it really did feel like somebody had crafted a message right for you, you're thinking, did my wife email the pastor with the notes?

Okay, you're thinking, Holy Spirit, this must be you.

Because I was just talking about this yesterday.

I was just praying about this yesterday.

This has been on my mind.

And Lord, you articulated something that's been floating around, is now crystallized.

That's what the Bible is.

When you think of the word of God, you think of two different things.

One is the Logos word, which is the written word of God.

Um, and even when we look at the written word of God and we understand it in its proper context and doctrine and principles start to speak to us.

But there's there's other, another type of word, which is what's called a rhema word of God, which is a right now word.

We actually find that in the book of Luke, chapter five.

If you remember the story where the fishermen, they're fishing and they're not catching any fish.

They're coming up empty.

And so Jesus says, Hey, you ought to cast your net on the other side.

He gives them a piece of advice.

Cast your net on the other side.

And the fishermen come back and they say, Well, Lord, we fished all night and we've come up empty, but at your word or at your rhema, we'll give it another shot.

In other words, this is situational right here, right now.

We'll do what you say.

And so in moments like this, God sort of uses all of this.

He uses the Logos written word, he speaks a Rhema word through the power of His Holy Spirit.

He causes things to be spoken to us.

And I have to tell you, as a as a preacher, pastor, I take the responsibility seriously.

And I live slightly paranoid that I'm gonna mess it up.

Because I do realize like I could be teaching something straight true from the Bible, and it's good, nice, hard truth, timeless, but sometimes timing, like if you don't strike the right note and the right tone at the right time, something uh that may be true can be discouraging, right?

Like, like I've been in seasons where personally I was energized.

I was feeling good.

Okay, I felt like I could go, I was ready to charge the hill.

And so if I hear a good sermon on seeking, when I'm energized, I'm ready to go, right?

Jeremiah 29, you'll find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Uh Jesus says in Matthew 6, 33, seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.

In Hebrews 11, it says, He rewards those who diligently seek him.

And so, you know, you get somebody preaching sweaty on seeking, and you gotta seek him, and then you seek a little harder.

But and so if I'm energized, I don't mind a little conquest, I don't mind a little expedition, I don't mind a little hide and seek.

But I've been in some seasons, I was so stinking tired.

You preach me a sermon about seeking, I'm like, Lord, you're gonna have to come out of hiding because uh I just ain't got it in me, Lord.

I mean, I Lord, I mean, I know I'm supposed to diligently seek.

I I know I'm supposed to earnestly seek, but I just don't have any seeking left.

If you don't, you know, ready or not, here I come, I don't have it.

I don't have it, I'm worn out, I'm tired.

And so you think about not just the written word of God, and sometimes you can speak truth, and it's true, but is it on time?

In the book of Matthew, chapter 11, we see Jesus.

If you read the whole chapter, you would see Jesus changes tone through the whole chapter.

He changes both topic and tone.

At the beginning of the text, a group of people come to Jesus and they're like, Jesus, we're disciples of John.

John's in prison, and he wants to know how seriously we should take you.

Are you the Messiah?

Jesus could have just said, Yes, but he doesn't.

He says, Hey, you know, go back and tell John the blind see and the deaf hear and the dead are raised.

If I'm one of the disciples, I'm like, it was a yes or no question, man.

Just like a simple yes or a simple no, but Jesus kind of sends them on a quest.

It seems that Jesus knows something about them and where they're at in that moment.

A little bit later, he's talking, and Jesus gets kind of confrontational, kind of in your face.

At one point, he's like, you know, this generation needs a talking to.

Oh, he does.

Oh, you got to read your Bible.

Matthew 11 is awesome.

He says, Here, let me tell you, he goes, let me tell you the deal.

You guys want everything in the package that you wanted, and anything that doesn't fit the package you want, you reject.

He goes, John the Baptist, this guy fasted, he didn't drink, and you called him a demon.

He goes, and then I drink and eat, and you call me a glutton and a drunkard.

He said, You know, we we play happy songs, you don't dance.

We play sad songs, you don't mourn.

And then he goes, Oh, you want me to name names?

He started talking about cities.

I go, I went to this city, we did miracles in the city, and you would think that they would fall to their knees and turn to God, but they harden their hearts.

He goes, if we'd done the same miracle down the road, they would have fallen to their knees and repented and turned to God.

So he's kind of like a little up in the business, a little bit of a fastball.

And then if you work your way, meander all the way to the end of Matthew 11.

Jesus changes his tone altogether.

And he says, Some of you are tired.

See?

Some of you are ready to charge a hill.

Some of you are ready for a quest and a conquest, and yet some of you are so depleted.

So I want to talk to you.

By the way, my message today is for those folks.

So if you're just like bounding with energy today, I'm going to disappoint you.

But you probably have enough, you'll get on the internet and you'll seek something out, okay?

This is for those today who are soul tired, mind, will, emotion depleted.

And Jesus says to them in Matthew 11, 28 through 30, come to me.

Come to me.

All you who are weary and carry heavy burdens.

And he said, I'll give you rest.

If you were to read that in the King James, he says, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden.

And with that, he sort of gives two different types of reasons for being tired.

So he says, Those of you who are who labor, in other words, you have responsibility.

You've taken on work.

You you took on that job.

You're laboring.

And then he said, and those who are heavy laden, in other words, you've had something heavy laid on you.

It wasn't your work or your job, but now it's been put on you.

So those of you that picked a tough job, and those of you who were handed a tough job, come to me, all you who are weary and you carry heavy burdens.

And he says, I'll give you rest.

What Jesus does is he initiates in verse 28 is he's saying, he's announcing himself as having both the authority and the empathy to help you rest.

What do I mean by authority?

Well, first of all, he commands it, come to me.

He doesn't say, you know, you ought to think about maybe coming to me.

Hey, I'm an option.

He says, You're tired, come to me.

And then he says, and I'll give you rest.

He positions himself as deity.

Hey, I'm not just a TED talker.

I'm just a content guy.

I'm not just an influencer.

He says, I have the ability to give you rest, to restore and to replenish you.

Later in the next verse, he says, he says, if you come to me, I'll do something in your life that will cause rest for your soul.

When they hear uh rest or restore your soul, uh, those listeners in that day would have heard two things.

Uh they would have heard familiarity with Jeremiah chapter 6 and verse 16, where ultimately Jeremiah is speaking on behalf of God and says, The Lord God will do some things and will restore your soul.

And so, as Jesus is saying that he's putting himself in that blank, I'm the one who will restore your soul, he's telling them, uh, I'm I'm fully God.

This is deity, this is divine.

It also would have hearkened them to Psalm 23, the Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he helps me rest.

He leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul.

So Jesus is telling them, if you don't know where to take your fatigue, come to me.

You know, there's something about emotional, mental fatigue.

You know what I'm saying?

It's not like your car, you're driving, and you're like, oh, it's on empty and a light comes on, or whatever, your bank account is is red with a neg, you know, a minus.

And so you know, like when you're emotional, stuff starts feeding back.

You know, you're like, man, I'm having like my appetite's changing.

Either I'm hungry or I'm less hungry, you know, or maybe your emotional starts spilling out.

When we were about three, four years into our this church plant, I went to speak at an event, and I was the second speaker in the lineup.

There was a guy speaking before me, and and I had this sermon preached.

It was militant, dude.

I mean, it was Acts 1.8, it was going to all the world.

Okay, I was ready to preach my hat backwards, so the back row stood up.

I was ready to pit stain in Jesus' name.

I was so fired up about mission, mission, mission.

And so I'm ready to just alpha mail this thing to the nth degree.

And the first guy gets up and starts preaching heart, pastoral.

And bro, got in my heart against my will.

I didn't even offer.

He's just in there in my heart, meddling around.

And I'm sitting there and I and I'm like, I start crying.

Like, I start like sobbing.

And I'm like, what is going on right now?

I don't even know why I'm crying.

To be honest, I didn't even, I can't remember what he preached about.

I don't even remember his text.

I don't remember any notable quotables, nothing.

I just remember the way he was teaching.

It was in my heart, and I start crying, and I that's not normal.

And I'm in there, I'm like, I gotta preach next, man.

I can't get up looking like I've been crying.

I'm like pinching my cheeks and stuff, or I've water in my okay, anything I can do.

But I but it was a signal to me, and I started to think about that.

I'm like, what's going on?

Because I don't normally respond this way.

And as I started to, I started to realize I'm exhausted.

It's about four years in the church plan.

I was giving, giving, giving, trying to build leaders, and I'm trying to make disciples, and I'm trying to solve problems, and I'm trying to counsel folks, and I'm praying for everybody, and I'm trying to prepare a message that's helpful, and I'm trying to build an organization, I'm trying to raise funds, and I'm trying to make sure everybody's needs are met, and I'm running, running, running, and I didn't realize, man, I was wiped, I was exhausted, not quite sure where to turn.

Ever been there?

Jesus says, Come to me, bring it to me.

All you who are weary, who labor and are heavy laden, he says, I have the ability, the capability to give you rest.

Well, that sounds good.

You're gonna give me rest.

Uh Lord, how are you gonna do it, Jesus?

How are you gonna give rest?

In the next line, he says, uh he says, Take my yoke upon you and let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you'll find rest, you'll find rest for your souls.

Okay.

Uh when Jesus says this statement, okay, uh, take my yoke upon you, he's he's using the word yoke as a homonym.

A homonym is a word with double meaning, right?

Let's take the word nail.

Nail, okay, and nail.

So so it's one word that means two different things.

When Jesus said yoke, their minds would have gone to two different concepts that Jesus used together to help them understand how to rest.

So the first one, yoke, uh yoke was a was a word that they would use for basically a rabbi's um interpretation of the Torah, the 613 laws of the Torah.

So you would have rabbis who would interpret, they would interpret the Torah in different ways.

What does it what does this mean by this?

What does this law mean?

What does it mean for now?

All of this.

So so these and they would call that their teaching or their understanding of the Torah or their interpretation, they would call that their yoke.

And this was really important because what was the Torah, but it was helping them define theology.

This is what God expects of me, and this is who God is, and this is what it means to live right for God, or whatever.

And so you would you would have a different uh rabbi and you would take their yoke on you, or essentially their understanding of the Torah.

And so when Jesus said yoke, that was one thing that they thought.

And so that's why he says the next line is take my yoke upon you and let me teach you.

Teach you.

So he's he's actually saying that proper understanding in theology is actually a huge component in you actually being able to find rest.

If I see God incorrectly, some of the lies that I believe about God or the confusion that I have about God can be a drain in my life.

Let me uh give you a couple of, let me give you an example.

There's a book called With by a guy named Sky Jathani, and he talks about five different views or points of view that people have about God.

Four of them are wrong, either way wrong or kind of wrong, and one of them is all the way right.

So the first view of God some people have is that they're above God.

So they think they don't need God.

They don't, I don't need God, okay, I'm but I'm my own God, uh, and that is all the way wrong.

There's another view is that I'm beneath God, which of course we're beneath God.

He's omnipotent, we're not.

He's omniscient, we're not.

But but the view is more than just that God's a superior being.

It's that God uh is looking for a reason to be angry with me.

It's that God wants to beat me down with a hammer.

It's it's that God, I disgust him.

I I angry, he's enraged toward me, that I'm a sinner in the hands of an angry God, and he's just, boy, he's got you dangling over.

He just can't wait to just give just give me a reason.

Just give me a reason.

And so they feel beaten down by God.

The third type of view of God is uh the from God view, which is uh, you know, um moralistic therapeutic deism.

Basically, give God what he wants, he'll give me what I want.

So it's like God is like a vending machine.

Put your dollar in, hit your button, get your potato chips, and go about your day.

I give him this, he gives me that.

Okay, yes, he's uh I'm all powerful and everything, but you know, everything he's just kind of a genie in a body, you just gotta rub him the right way.

And then and then there's the then there's the fourth view of God, which is for God, which is the sir, yes, sir view of God, which is okay, Lord, I don't need your help, I just need you to give me my orders and I'll go take the hill, which is I've fallen into this many times.

In fact, I live years like that, which is why I was burning out.

Because it was just like, Lord, what do you want me to do?

I'm a good soldier, I'm a good son.

Tell me what hill you want me to take.

And then I don't even, Lord, you got it's a big universe out there, and there's about 8 billion people that need your help more than I do, okay?

Because I'm I'm the guy you can count on.

So you just tell me what you want to do one day, Lord, you're gonna wake up in heaven, you're gonna look, I'm gonna be standing on that hill with a flag in that thing, okay?

How'd I do, Lord?

Running myself ragged.

The fifth view of God, which is the one that's all the way right, is the with God.

With God.

It's interesting because when Jesus came to earth, right, to usher in a new covenant and to help remove the mystery around what's God really like, he came to earth.

Here's how he was announced.

He'll be Emmanuel, God with God with us.

Jesus, even if you read just the verse or two before in Matthew 11, he's demonstrating the Father and the Son relationship and being together, that God is with you, that He understands you, that He's not dangling you, wanting to uh hurt you, He's not pushing you down, beating you down, He's not trying to wear you out.

Because there's a couple ways apart from God that you can wear yourself out.

One way to wear yourself out is by doing whatever you want to do, thinking you're above God, being your own God, and sending your brains out and whatever it goes.

Okay, if you happen to live long enough living like that, at some point you'll come to your senses like the prodigal and you'll go, well, that ain't it.

Okay, I'm not a very good God.

I have created a mess and chaos with my appetites and my limited perspective that I thought I could see more than I really could.

And so you create a depletion and exhaustion in just doing it all your way.

But, friend, I'm gonna tell you on the other end of the spectrum, if you swing the pendulum the other way, some of the most burnout, exhausted people in the world are people doing this, doing this.

And they believe, man, if I can just do a little bit more, if I can do a little bit more, if I could just win one more, if I could just go a little harder, if I could just give one more dollar, if I could just push a little, if I could worship harder, hands higher, jump a little higher, Lord.

Can I just be a little more moral?

Can I be a little more righteous?

Can I sin a little bit less?

Like you're trying to earn his approval.

And guess what?

That's exhausting.

Not knowing he's with you, not knowing he's with you, walking with you, understanding you, guiding you, leading you.

No, you just feel like you know, some of the people I know in my life, because this is a world I live in.

I'm around people on the verge of a nervous breakdown sometimes.

Pastors, preachers, leaders, servant-hearted folks who wake up sun up to sundown trying to serve Jesus, and they're just gassed.

It's just it's never good, their best is never good enough.

Their best is never good enough.

And they're ready to burn out.

And you know who it is?

It the people who feel like they can't do enough for God are the people I know who are doing the most for God.

So Jesus said, if you don't understand my yoke, if you don't get a correct view of God, you could fall into one end of the spectrum.

You could allow sin to create a chaos that would deplete and drain you.

Or you would allow legalism or trying to earn the approval of God or trying to get him to finally be happy with you, to finally look down and go, okay, finally it's enough.

Good job.

You have my thumbs up.

You're gonna run yourself ragged.

So he said, one of the ways that you will find rest is by sealing that up.

You find rest for your soul, that you see God correctly and you understand God sees you correctly.

See the other, so yoke was a homonym.

One, get your theology right and you'll start resting a little bit.

But two is he uses the term yoke in the way you probably thought of, which is an animal yoked.

When he starts out, the uh verbal imagery that he uses, he says, Come to me, all you who are weary and carry heavy burdens.

Go ahead and bring the first picture up.

He he's he's he's given this picture.

Come to me, all you who are weary and carry heavy burdens.

Those of you who are self-sufficient, those of you who have something heavy that you're carrying, a responsibility that you bear and you're trying to do it alone.

If you don't understand what really what he meant by yoke, outside of the theology part of it, when he says yoke, he's not saying, Hey, uh, I know you're pulling this thing by yourself, give me your burden.

And I'll give you another burden for you to carry alone.

When he says yoke, go ahead and bring up the next one.

He's giving them this imagery.

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me.

And then he says, For I'm humble and gentle in heart.

You'll find rest for your soul, for my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

He's saying, yoke yourself to me.

This isn't you're on your own, I'm gonna give you something a little bit lighter to carry.

He's saying, yoke yourself to me.

Come to me.

Let's yoke up together.

And this is what they would have understood with this analogy.

When you take two oxen and you yoke them together, and one of them is strong and it's experienced, that oxen will set both the direction and will bear the majority of the weight.

So if I'm yoked up by myself to this burden, I'm now in control of the direction.

You yoke up next to an ox that's stronger than you, it will take you in a straight line.

We're going the right direction, so it sets your direction, and then it bears the weight that you're too weak to carry.

In fact, the next part where he says, My yoke is easy, my burden is light, he's not saying my yoke is easy like it's not hard ever.

The word easy there actually means well-fitting.

My yoke is well-fitting.

In other words, you will have to do some stuff, but it will fit you.

The thing you're able to do.

And this isn't, again, back to like going through life.

It's not like I lay here and I don't move and God just, you know, animates me.

I do nothing except I'm his puppet.

No, you have a free will.

So there are some things you need to do.

You can't do everything.

There are some things that will overwhelm you, which will take you to your knees and cause you to cry out to God.

Like, Lord, I don't have this capacity.

It's it's too heavy for me, and you'll have to reach out for help.

But but it's not that you'll do nothing.

You'll carry the weight you're meant to carry, but he'll carry the weight that you're not meant to carry.

And he says, you know what, yoke up to me.

Come, yoke up to me.

I'll carry what you can't carry.

I'm gonna set the direction.

Follow me, come follow.

Isn't that even what he said from the beginning?

Why don't you come follow me, yoke up to me?

And the thing you can't carry, I'll carry it.

And I gotta tell you, friend, there are some times, nights that you think you're lonely, that no one else is around, and you're carrying a burden, a big step in the right direction for you being restored, having your soul restored, your mind, will, and emotions restored, is that you see in your mind's eye which is true.

This isn't you, you're not the first animal pulling this thing by yourself, that you're yoked next to Jesus, even in your prayer time, thinking about that.

Lord, I'm I'm I'm gonna bear, I'm gonna put on what fits me, and I'm giving you what doesn't fit me.

Lord, I I don't have that.

I don't have that resource, I don't have that knowledge, I don't have that wisdom, I don't have that energy, I don't have that solution.

Lord, I'm giving that to you.

And I I gotta tell you what'll happen is through the power of the Holy Spirit, through the Rhema word, through the Logos word, through the power of God, it will come along as He's living and active.

He shows up through His Spirit and will get you through some things you could not carry by yourself.

And he'll set a direction and keep you on course, and he'll carry what is meant for him to carry.

And you know what happens?

You know what happens to that other ox when they're yoked next to a stronger is they start to get stronger and they learn direction and they become stronger, and they become stronger.

And then Jesus is talking not only about you and him, but he's talking about us.

This is Matthew 11.

If you go all the way to Matthew 23, Jesus gets a little, he changes tone again when he's talking to the religious leaders and Pharisees.

And I want you to look through the lens of everything we just said.

Look what he says in Matthew 23, 2 through 4.

He says, the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees are the official interpreters of the law of Moses, of the Old Testament, the Torah.

He says, So practice and obey whatever they tell you, but don't follow their example, for they don't practice what they teach.

Verse 4, look at this.

They crush people with unbearable religious demands and never lift a finger to ease the burden.

So he said, Here's the problem.

These religious people, these spiritual teachers, they're up there spewing truth, spitting facts, speaking in platitudes, and he goes, You know, what they're saying is good, so you should listen to the words they're saying because they're speaking truth.

But he said, Here's a big gap, a big problem, is they're saying all this truth, but they don't lift a hand to help.

In Galatians 6, Galatians 6, uh, starting in verse 2, he says, share each other's burdens and in this way obey the law of Christ.

Bear one another's burdens.

When you do that, you'll fulfill the law of Christ.

His problem with the Pharisees wasn't that they weren't talking Bible, it wasn't that their bumper sticker wasn't true.

He said it's the fact that if you don't come alongside and yoke up, all you're doing is putting a burden on somebody.

Oh, but if they don't like the truth, I just say it like it is and they don't want to hear.

We just need more truth.

No, we need more help.

We need more help.

Are you willing to help?

He said, when you yoke up next to somebody, you're helping them out.

He said, It's fulfilling the law of Christ just as much as when you speak truth.

In fact, he says, if you speak truth and you won't lift a hand, you're doing damage.

So Jesus' beef wasn't that they weren't speaking truth.

He said, You're putting burdens on people.

So Jesus says, I'll tell you what God's like.

He said, I'll tell you what I'm like, humble and gentle in heart.

Bring your burden to me, yoke up next to me.

Let me let me tell you what this looks like.

This looks like us getting our theology right and understanding that God wants to do every step of your life with you.

With you.

The win, the loss, the stress, the success, the marriage, the divorce, the birth, the miscarriage, the promotion, the demotion, the delay.

With you.

He's with you.

Don't run around in sin, complicating your life.

Sin will take you further than you want to go.

It'll keep you longer than you want to be there.

Don't do that.

But also don't live your life running ragged.

Think maybe if I get one more, finally, dad will be happy.

Your Heavenly Father's happy with you.

He see, he created, he formed you.

You're in his image.

He loves you.

So see him right.

Seal up the energy drain in your life.

And then there are times you you bring your burden to him, and he's not handing you something else for you to carry by yourself.

Jesus has invited himself into your fatigue.

Welcome him.

Come to me.

He commands it.

All you who are weary carry heavy burdens.

I'll give you rest.

He has the ability to do that.

Take my yoke upon you.

Learn from me.

I'm humble and gentle in heart.

My yoke is easy, my burden is light.

I'll give you your part, I'll take mine.

And what's going to happen is you're going to walk through life, and the big ox is going to lead the little ox, and you're going to get stronger and you're going to learn direction.

And then some point in your life, Galatians 6, God's going to ask you to yoke up next to somebody else as the body of Jesus.

That's what we are.

It's all we are: the body of Jesus.

And you'll yoke up next to somebody and you'll carry a burden they couldn't carry.

You're not going to carry them because everybody's got to get out of bed and put one foot in front of the other.

You've got a free will.

You got to decide if you're going to live hopeful or hopeless.

I can't live your life for you.

We can't, nobody, the person next to you can't make decisions for you.

You got to make them for yourself.

But when you start being willing to do that, what happens?

We can start helping each other.

You know, I can't pay all your bills, I can help you with one.

I can't give you my car, but I'll give you a ride.

I can't adopt your kids, but I'll take them for a night so that you can have a night off.

Okay, I'll I can help you.

I can't solve all your problems, but I can listen and pray.

I can support you in the process.

I can make sure you're not alone.

I can't go have all your conflicts for you.

I can't make you stop crying, but I can wipe your tears.

So we yoke up next to each other.

How do I find rest?

How do I find rest?

One, get your theology right.

See God right.

You want to know what God's like?

Look at Jesus.

Jesus says, You've seen me, you've seen the Father.

I don't know what's confusing about him, humble and gentle at heart.

He has a way of getting you what you need when you need it.

And sometimes it's a confrontation.

Sometimes this is you know what this generation needs to talk into.

Sometimes this, you know, you got to get your mind right, and sometimes it's come to me, all you who are weary.

So wherever you're at today, whether you're ready to take the hill or whether you're going, I don't have any more hide and seek in me.

Trust Jesus to find you where you are.

Today I want to take a moment before we do anything else to quiet our hearts and minds and allow in this moment the Lord to show up in your weariness and your fatigue and to begin giving you rest.
