  1. Good morning, Christ

  2. Community Chapel.

  3. Pastor Zach here.

  4. And if you're new here,

  5. I want you to know

  6. we're doing something

  7. a little different

  8. this weekend.

  9. Usually our teaching team

  10. consists of Pastor

  11. Joe and myself.

  12. We alternate on about.

  13. And every other week basis,

  14. which I love.

  15. We love

  16. not just getting

  17. to preach to you,

  18. but also getting to listen

  19. to the other guys.

  20. One of my favorite things

  21. that we do.

  22. But there are actually six

  23. other staff pastors

  24. who serve this church

  25. really well.

  26. They just don't always

  27. do it on stage.

  28. And by preaching.

  29. Except we're going to flip

  30. that this weekend

  31. and actually going to do this

  32. four times this year.

  33. We're calling it

  34. Staff Pastor Weekend.

  35. There'll be

  36. a different pastor

  37. preaching in every service.

  38. And in every venue

  39. Thursday night

  40. in the weekend,

  41. East Hall

  42. and West,

  43. giving you a chance

  44. to get to know

  45. some of your other pastors

  46. and to hear

  47. a different perspective

  48. on the same passage

  49. with the same outline,

  50. just a different guy

  51. delivering it.

  52. So would you join me in

  53. welcoming your staff pastor

  54. in your venue to the stage?

  55. This guy works really hard

  56. to love

  57. and care for you, and I'm

  58. so glad

  59. you got a chance

  60. to hear from him

  61. as he teaches

  62. from God's Word.

  63. Enjoy the service.

  64. Yeah.

  65. Now we're talking.

  66. All right.

  67. Welcome, to the weekly

  68. gathering of Christ Community

  69. Chapel for our very first

  70. service of 2025.

  71. Happy New year.

  72. Yeah.

  73. Even more hoots and hollers.

  74. Good. I like the energy.

  75. Let's be honest.

  76. It's, It's January 2nd.

  77. So it's

  78. just after the holidays.

  79. It's cold.

  80. It's dark, and you're here.

  81. We're going to tell you

  82. when we get to heaven.

  83. You're getting

  84. the good rooms, all right?

  85. You're committed.

  86. You're committed.

  87. I'm so glad that you're here.

  88. For those of you

  89. that I haven't had

  90. the privilege of meeting yet.

  91. My name is Ken.

  92. I'm one of the staff

  93. pastors, as Pastor

  94. Zach just alluded to.

  95. I've been on staff here

  96. for about five years.

  97. Prior to that, I was,

  98. practicing attorney.

  99. I practiced

  100. law for a decade before,

  101. God called me

  102. to a full time ministry.

  103. And I've been married

  104. to my wife, Jamie,

  105. for a little over 16 years.

  106. I have three daughters.

  107. They are eight and six.

  108. And two.

  109. Kamiya, Skyler and Lily.

  110. So pray for me.

  111. I got three little girls,

  112. is what I tell people. You.

  113. If you know me,

  114. you've heard me say this.

  115. In this season of life,

  116. I don't sleep.

  117. I'm not funny.

  118. And I'm never right.

  119. That that is me

  120. in a nutshell.

  121. But really,

  122. thank you for being here.

  123. Thanks for making the time.

  124. Especially if you're here

  125. and you're visiting here

  126. and you're new.

  127. We're so glad that you're

  128. joining us.

  129. You know, that

  130. being the new year, 2025,

  131. it's time for New Year's.

  132. What new year's

  133. resolutions, right.

  134. New year, new you.

  135. Time to pick something up.

  136. Time to drop something.

  137. Maybe drop a few pounds

  138. that you picked up

  139. over the holidays.

  140. But it's an opportunity

  141. as you look ahead to the year

  142. to say, I'm

  143. going to do

  144. something different.

  145. I'm going to

  146. change something.

  147. And New Year's

  148. resolutions are good.

  149. They can be great.

  150. But I'm going to challenge

  151. you tonight to consider

  152. something

  153. that is transformative,

  154. not just for you,

  155. not just even for us, but for

  156. the region,

  157. for the communities

  158. around us, for the world.

  159. And I hope you say

  160. yes to that.

  161. I hope you'll say

  162. yes to that.

  163. And if you're here

  164. and you're

  165. not yet a Christian, I'm

  166. going to invite you

  167. to consider something too.

  168. So stay tuned.

  169. In our passage tonight,

  170. which I'm going to

  171. read in a moment,

  172. we're going to be looking

  173. at a church

  174. that said yes

  175. to something

  176. transformative and changed

  177. the world.

  178. And so let's

  179. turn to that now.

  180. It's acts chapter

    Acts 13 chapter mention

  181. 13, verses one through three.

  182. Chapter 13, verses

  183. one through three.

  184. You can find it

  185. in your pew Bibles, or

  186. pull it up on your phone.

  187. But but,

  188. let me let me

  189. read this for you.

  190. And then

  191. and then we'll,

  192. we'll zoom in.

  193. All right.

  194. Here it is,

    Isaiah 13 chapter mention

  195. chapter 13, verses

  196. one through three.

  197. Now, there were in the church

  198. at Antioch, prophets

  199. and teachers

  200. Barnabas, Simeon,

  201. who was called Niger,

  202. Lucius of Cyrene.

  203. Monaghan,

  204. a lifelong friend of Herod

  205. the tetrarch.

  206. And Saul,

  207. while they were worshiping

  208. the Lord and fasting,

  209. the Holy Spirit said, set

  210. apart for me

  211. Barnabas and Saul,

  212. for the work

  213. to which I have called them.

  214. Then, after

  215. fasting and praying,

  216. they laid their hands on them

  217. and sent them off.

  218. And we're going to spend time

  219. in those verses tonight.

  220. Let me give you the larger

  221. picture, the context briefly,

  222. so you can kind of,

  223. understand how

  224. how we found ourselves

  225. here, in the book of acts.

  226. Really.

  227. We're we're really

  228. the story is picking up

  229. post Jesus's life,

  230. death and resurrection

  231. and acts opens with

  232. Jesus before he

  233. ascended into heaven,

  234. giving a charge

  235. to his disciples.

  236. And I'm going to read

  237. that charge

  238. because it's

  239. gives us

  240. some pretty crucial context.

  241. It's acts chapter one

  242. and it's verse eight.

  243. This is what Jesus says.

  244. But you will receive power

  245. when the Holy Spirit

  246. has come upon you,

  247. and you will be my witnesses

  248. in Jerusalem

  249. and in all Judea and Samaria,

  250. and to the end of the earth.

  251. And then Jesus ascends

  252. and the mission continues

  253. through the power

  254. of the Holy Spirit.

  255. The local church is formed,

  256. and we see the gospel

  257. go forward.

  258. Now in acts chapter 13,

    Acts 13 chapter mention

  259. verses one through three,

  260. we are right on the brink

  261. of the global church

  262. being launched.

  263. It's an amazing,

  264. an amazing moment.

  265. This church is stepping

  266. into the mission

  267. to take the gospel

  268. to all corners of the globe.

  269. And by the way,

  270. that mission is continuing

  271. through the book of acts,

  272. through the balance

  273. of the New Testament,

  274. through to today,

  275. to this very moment.

  276. And who is God

  277. using to do this?

  278. He's using the church

  279. at Antioch.

  280. He's using Paul.

  281. He's using Barnabas.

  282. And how it happened, how

  283. this church stepped

  284. into the mission of God,

  285. how God use them.

  286. That's really important.

  287. Understanding the ingredients

  288. that were involved,

  289. not just for

  290. the church at Antioch,

  291. but but for us here and now.

  292. And so as we walk

  293. through these verses, I'm

  294. going to walk through them

  295. using the three ingredients

  296. for the mission of God

  297. to move forward.

  298. There are three things there.

  299. My three points for tonight.

  300. Here they are.

  301. How does the mission

  302. move forward?

  303. Number one, open hearts.

  304. Number two, open hands.

  305. Number three, open doors,

  306. open hearts.

  307. Open hands, open doors.

  308. Let's start with open hearts.

  309. If you were to

  310. look at this passage,

  311. something very important

  312. for us to understand

  313. that every single person

  314. mentioned here, and in fact,

  315. every single person

  316. in the church at Antioch,

  317. had said yes to Jesus.

  318. They said yes to Jesus.

  319. It's a church

  320. because it was comprised of

  321. Christians.

  322. They've opened their hearts

  323. to the truth of the gospel,

  324. to the good news of Jesus.

  325. And when I say open hearts,

  326. when we talk

  327. about open hearts,

  328. what I mean is hearts

  329. that have been transformed

  330. by what I'm going to call

  331. supernatural surrender.

  332. Supernatural surrender.

  333. All right. Two things.

  334. You need them both,

  335. for your heart

  336. to be fully open.

  337. All right,

  338. let's talk about that.

  339. Supernatural peace first.

  340. Coming to faith

  341. in Jesus

  342. requires an act of God.

  343. Full stop.

  344. It requires God to act.

  345. He must do something.

  346. That's the supernatural part.

  347. Now, if you look at Paul,

  348. God showed up

  349. in a pretty amazing way.

  350. The conversion story of Paul

  351. is pretty incredible.

  352. He's an enemy of the church.

  353. That's an understatement,

  354. by the way.

  355. At one point,

  356. the author of acts says

  357. Paul is breathing

  358. threats and murder.

  359. I've been married

  360. for 16 years.

  361. If I knew

  362. my wife was breathing

  363. threats and murder

  364. against me, I would run

  365. threats and murder.

  366. He he has just tacitly

  367. or explicitly approved

  368. of the execution of someone

  369. just a few chapters

  370. back, he's

  371. going home to home,

  372. dragging Christians

  373. for imprisonment or worse.

  374. And then he is struck down

  375. in what

  376. I can only describe

  377. as the original come

  378. to Jesus moment

  379. comes face to face

  380. with the risen

  381. Christ and is changed,

  382. transformed.

  383. God acted

  384. in a supernatural

  385. way, and Paul's life

  386. post conversion is marked

  387. by powerful evangelism,

  388. incredible obedience,

  389. remarkable suffering,

  390. all because God worked

  391. in his heart

  392. in a powerful

  393. and personal way.

  394. Open hearts

  395. require an act of God.

  396. That's the supernatural part.

  397. But they also involve

  398. something in our part two.

  399. And that's the

  400. surrender piece.

  401. To be a Christian

  402. means that

  403. we have to acknowledge,

  404. first and foremost,

  405. that we're deeply broken.

  406. There's

  407. something wrong with us,

  408. and we can't

  409. fix it on our own.

  410. And we need someone,

  411. not ourselves, to intervene.

  412. We need a savior.

  413. I have three little kids.

  414. We talk about Jesus

  415. as the rescuer.

  416. We need to be rescued

  417. from our broken,

  418. sinful state.

  419. By the way, surrender

  420. might sound like it's easy.

  421. It might sound like

  422. it's weak. It's not.

  423. Surrender is hard.

  424. It's active.

  425. How many times

  426. have you surrendered

  427. in an argument

  428. with a spouse or a friend?

  429. Let's speak for myself.

  430. It's not easy to surrender,

  431. to throw up your hands

  432. and say, fine, you win.

  433. How much more?

  434. So when it comes

  435. to the God of the universe,

  436. when we have to say

  437. the way I've been

  438. living my life.

  439. I can't do it anymore.

  440. You win, God, you win.

  441. C.S. Lewis has a great quote.

  442. I'm going to paraphrase it.

  443. Basically he says, look,

  444. people aren't just imperfect

  445. human beings

  446. that need to shape up a bit,

  447. dust themselves off.

  448. They are rebels

  449. who need to lay

  450. down their arms.

  451. Strong language.

  452. But I think it's apt.

  453. We need to surrender

  454. supernatural surrender,

  455. open hearts

  456. that come from

  457. that supernatural surrender

  458. and act of God and response

  459. from us.

  460. Now, if you're here

  461. and you're Christian,

  462. you might be thinking, okay,

  463. sure.

  464. For Paul,

  465. I mean, this conversion

  466. story

  467. is really one of a kind.

  468. That's true to an extent.

  469. But,

  470. you know,

  471. while you probably,

  472. I'm guessing,

  473. weren't actively

  474. persecuting Christians,

  475. dragging them

  476. from their homes,

  477. you probably weren't

  478. struck down in route

  479. to Damascus.

  480. You probably weren't

  481. rendered temporarily blind.

  482. Let me ask you, who were you

  483. before Jesus.

  484. How did you think?

  485. How did you speak?

  486. How did you act?

  487. Do you remember

  488. what was life like before

  489. Jesus?

  490. You know, elsewhere

  491. in the New Testament,

  492. Paul writes

  493. of us as dead in our sin,

  494. children of wrath.

  495. Rebels

  496. that need to lay

  497. down their arms.

  498. So maybe you weren't at odds

  499. with the church

  500. per se,

  501. in the way

  502. that Paul was, but.

  503. But you were

  504. absolutely at odds

  505. with the God of the universe.

  506. And you know what it took for

  507. you to be made right

  508. with God?

  509. Jesus living the life

  510. that you couldn't, dying

  511. the death you deserve

  512. and raising from the dead.

  513. I'd say that's pretty

  514. supernatural, wouldn't you?

  515. It took God in your

  516. moment of surrender

  517. when you finally laid

  518. down your arms and said,

  519. you know what?

  520. Not my way, but yours.

  521. Not my own kingship, God.

  522. But but yours. Jesus.

  523. You sit on the throne

  524. in that moment of surrender,

  525. God transforming your heart

  526. from unbelief to belief.

  527. Supernatural.

  528. The ongoing work of God

  529. through the Holy Spirit

  530. in your life

  531. even now,

  532. making you more and more

  533. like Jesus and less and less

  534. like the old you.

  535. Tell me what

  536. isn't supernatural

  537. about all of that?

  538. As I was preparing

  539. this sermon,

  540. I had to face

  541. a sobering reality.

  542. I'm going to

  543. ask you this too.

  544. When is the last time

  545. that you just stopped

  546. and marveled

  547. at the work God has done

  548. in Jesus, in you?

  549. It's an incredible thing.

  550. It's an incredible thing.

  551. So the supernatural

  552. surrender.

  553. It's what leads to

  554. open hearts.

  555. It's true

  556. of every single person.

  557. The church

  558. at Antioch, here

  559. in this passage, it's true

  560. of every Christian.

  561. It's true of you.

  562. It's true of me.

  563. We are

  564. walking miracles.

  565. Let's not

  566. forget that.

  567. And by the way,

  568. if you're here

  569. and you're not yet

  570. a Christian,

  571. I have not

  572. forgotten about you.

  573. Thank you for being here.

  574. What I've just described

  575. isn't you yet.

  576. But it can be.

  577. To acknowledge

  578. the work of Jesus in his life

  579. and his death

  580. and his resurrection.

  581. To surrender to his kingship,

  582. to invite God

  583. to transform you

  584. and to be made more

  585. and more like Jesus.

  586. You can have that.

  587. God has acted.

  588. Will you surrender?

  589. Will you surrender?

  590. The mission of God

  591. moves through open hearts.

  592. That's the first ingredient.

  593. And then open heart.

  594. Open hearts.

  595. They lead to open hands.

  596. That's my second point.

  597. Open hearts

  598. lead to open hands.

  599. I think it follows

  600. that if we really, really do

  601. embrace the magnitude

  602. of what

  603. God has done for us in Jesus,

  604. that our response

  605. will be this,

  606. this overflow,

  607. this abundance

  608. of of gratitude,

  609. of joy, of a, of a

  610. desire to obey and to follow.

  611. And to

  612. say, Jesus, what you want,

  613. I want what you love.

  614. I'll love.

  615. I want to follow you.

  616. My hands are open

  617. to whatever you want,

  618. whenever you want,

  619. however you want.

  620. And that's

  621. what's happening here

  622. in acts chapter 13,

    Acts 13 chapter mention

  623. verse two.

  624. It says,

  625. while they were

  626. worshiping the Lord

  627. and fasting,

  628. see what they're doing.

  629. This this church

  630. is abstaining from food

  631. from their physical

  632. needs in order

  633. to more fully commit

  634. to prayer,

  635. in order to earnestly seek

  636. God's guidance

  637. because they want

  638. what he wants.

  639. They want to love

  640. what he loves.

  641. Their hands are open.

  642. Now the idea,

  643. the idea of wanting

  644. what someone else wants

  645. and loving

  646. what someone else loves.

  647. It's not just true

  648. in this context.

  649. It's actually true of

  650. of anyone with whom

  651. you're in a relationship,

  652. anyone you care about.

  653. I've been married

  654. for 16 years.

  655. We dated for five years

  656. prior to that,

  657. and I can tell you

  658. there are things that I want

  659. and love

  660. now that I never thought

  661. I would.

  662. Never in a million years

  663. never wanted to travel,

  664. had no desire to do it,

  665. and that Jamie

  666. and she,

  667. she changed my perspective

  668. on that.

  669. I love to travel now.

  670. Of course we have little kids

  671. so we don't travel now,

  672. but maybe again one day.

  673. I'm glad you're

  674. sitting down for this.

  675. I watch

  676. documentaries sometimes.

  677. It's true, it's true.

  678. If you knew me pregame,

  679. you'd be like, no you don't.

  680. Sometimes I do,

  681. and I even enjoy them.

  682. I've come to love them

  683. because Jamie loves them.

  684. NPR podcasts

  685. I don't listen to those.

  686. I'm not Jesus, but.

  687. But I listen to Jamie

  688. when she talks about them,

  689. and that's something.

  690. If you have

  691. kids, if you have kids,

  692. you know this is true.

  693. You know that.

  694. That you want what they want.

  695. You love what they love.

  696. I got an eight year

  697. old, a six year old,

  698. two and a half year old.

  699. Okay?

  700. I find myself on some random

  701. Saturday morning

  702. wearing a tutu

  703. and dancing to Kidz

  704. Bop volume 84.

  705. Sure.

  706. Let's do it.

  707. It's what they want.

  708. It's what they love.

  709. Let's go.

  710. I dressed up in an inflatable

  711. T-Rex costume

  712. and walked the neighborhood

  713. a couple of years ago.

  714. People were

  715. not a joke, people.

  716. I think I almost caused

  717. an accident.

  718. People were stopping

  719. dead in the street

  720. just so they could

  721. take a picture.

  722. What I'm about

  723. to share with you

  724. next is is really not

  725. Sunday service material.

  726. I'll be honest, it's

  727. more of a Thursday story,

  728. so I'm going to share it.

  729. A couple of weeks ago,

  730. just think, Sunday

  731. evening, Sunday evening,

  732. Jamie's, cooking dinner,

  733. playing with the girls

  734. were being silly.

  735. We got we got music on.

  736. And at some point,

  737. I decided it's a good idea

  738. to play the Baywatch

  739. theme song.

  740. Anyone remember Baywatch?

  741. Yeah.

  742. Don't hassle the Hoff. Right.

  743. Okay.

  744. All right.

  745. If you don't know Baywatch,

  746. just understand that,

  747. everything that follows

  748. is the opposite

  749. of what that show was.

  750. Okay, in so many ways.

  751. So I decided to be funny

  752. to play

  753. the Baywatch theme song.

  754. And I'm slow motion

  755. carrying my children

  756. through the kitchen.

  757. Right.

  758. Just just trying to get there

  759. laughing. Jamie's laughing.

  760. Shaking her head,

  761. she says offhandedly.

  762. Well,

  763. the only thing

  764. that would make

  765. this better is if you

  766. did that in swim trunks.

  767. Or you betcha.

  768. You betcha.

  769. We have a bay window.

  770. Yeah,

  771. you don't have to groan.

  772. I mean, come on,

  773. like I know what I did.

  774. You don't need to.

  775. So if you happen

  776. to be walking by our house

  777. a couple weeks ago

  778. between like 515 and 530,

  779. I am deeply sorry

  780. to send your counseling

  781. bill to me right?

  782. It's nuts.

  783. I know it's nuts,

  784. but you know what I want?

  785. What they want.

  786. My wife, my kids.

  787. I love what they love.

  788. Some ways

  789. I'm totally unlike myself

  790. now because of them.

  791. Open hands,

  792. open hands.

  793. That's the church at Antioch.

  794. God, what you want?

  795. We want what you love.

  796. We're going to love, too.

  797. And let me say this.

  798. When your hands are open,

  799. when your hands are open,

  800. sometimes it means you're

  801. letting go of stuff too,

  802. right?

  803. You know,

  804. with my family, it's

  805. a certain amount of freedom.

  806. With kids, it's

  807. definitely sleep.

  808. Occasionally my self-respect.

  809. But you know what?

  810. My priorities have changed.

  811. Same is true

  812. when you have open hands

  813. with God.

  814. When your heart's been opened

  815. and your hands are open.

  816. It's not just how you think

  817. and act.

  818. It's how you spend your time,

  819. your energy, your money.

  820. It all changes.

  821. Your hands are open.

  822. Whatever you want.

  823. God, I'm in.

  824. I'm in.

  825. By the way, it's

  826. actually not a secret

  827. what God wants here.

  828. We don't have to wonder.

  829. It's why

  830. I read acts 18A

  831. few moments ago.

  832. What does God want?

  833. He wants them

  834. to be his witnesses

  835. in Jerusalem,

  836. all Judea and Samaria,

  837. and to the end of the earth.

  838. Church are

  839. are we a church

  840. of open hands?

  841. Whatever you want,

  842. whenever you want,

  843. however you want.

  844. Jesus, you have it.

  845. I want what you want.

  846. Do we love what God loves?

  847. Do we love who God loves?

  848. Are we an open handed church

  849. key ingredient

  850. in the mission of God

  851. moving forward?

  852. So if our hearts are open

  853. and our hands are open,

  854. what happens?

  855. Well, what happened here

  856. in acts

  857. 13, it's my final point.

  858. The third ingredient.

  859. Open doors, open hearts.

  860. Lead open hands, open

  861. hands lead to open doors.

  862. This is what acts

  863. 13, two and three says.

  864. While they were worshiping

  865. the Lord and fasting,

  866. the Holy Spirit said, set

  867. apart for me

  868. Barnabas and Saul

  869. for the work

  870. to which I have called them.

  871. Then after

  872. fasting and praying,

  873. they laid their hands on them

  874. and sent them off.

  875. You see,

  876. when our hearts and

  877. our hands are open,

  878. God opens doors.

  879. That's what he did here.

  880. And there are two things

  881. I want to mention about this.

  882. Two things. Number one.

  883. Number one,

  884. when it comes to open doors,

  885. it's a wee thing,

  886. not a meat thing

  887. or a heath thing

  888. or a sheep thing.

  889. I know

  890. that's a lot of pronouns, but

  891. you need to hear me on this.

  892. It's a wee thing

  893. because sure,

  894. sure, God

  895. calls Paul and Barnabas.

  896. To take the gospel

  897. to the ends of the earth.

  898. But it's the church

  899. at Antioch

  900. that he uses to do it.

  901. It's the church.

  902. The praise for them.

  903. It's the church

  904. that lays hands on them,

  905. that commissions

  906. them, that sends them.

  907. So while Paul and Barnabas

  908. are walking through

  909. that open door,

  910. the church,

  911. in a very real way,

  912. is walking through

  913. that open door behind them.

  914. It's a wee thing.

  915. And just like behind Paul

  916. and Barnabas was the church

  917. in Antioch.

  918. Truth is behind

  919. every dynamite.

  920. Senior pastor

  921. and every dynamite

  922. lead pastor.

  923. Behind every Joe, behind

  924. every Zach is a church.

  925. It's a wee thing.

  926. They'd be

  927. the first to tell you that.

  928. When God opens doors,

  929. we walk through them

  930. together.

  931. That's the first thing.

  932. Here's the second thing.

  933. Seemingly small moments

  934. can change the world.

  935. Seemingly small moments

  936. can change the world.

  937. In this passage,

  938. you have one church,

  939. two missionaries,

  940. and kind of a vague directive

  941. to go.

  942. And from that,

  943. the launch of the

  944. global church.

  945. I don't believe this

  946. church knew

  947. what God was about to do.

  948. But he's working

  949. through these

  950. seemingly regular people

  951. in a seemingly small moment

  952. to change the world.

  953. And a

  954. step of faith

  955. with open hearts.

  956. With open hands.

  957. They walked through the door.

  958. He opened.

  959. Do you know what I love

  960. maybe most about this passage

  961. in the grand narrative

  962. that God

  963. is writing in the story

  964. of the Bible?

  965. Things like this

  966. aren't the exception.

  967. They're the rule.

  968. Again and again and again.

  969. God uses

  970. seemingly regular people

  971. in seemingly small moments

  972. to absolutely change

  973. the world.

  974. With Abraham,

  975. all the families of the earth

  976. would be blessed.

  977. He took David,

  978. the runt of the litter.

  979. A shepherd made him a king,

  980. and from his lineage

  981. came Jesus.

  982. And from this church

  983. at Antioch

  984. we have the global church.

  985. I asked you

  986. at the beginning

  987. of our time together,

  988. if you'd consider saying yes

  989. in 2025

  990. to something

  991. that would be transformative,

  992. not just for you and for me,

  993. but for the region

  994. to have a far larger

  995. impact.

  996. Saying yes

  997. to an open door.

  998. Next week

  999. we're going to start

  1000. a new message series.

  1001. And I don't think

  1002. I'm overstating this.

  1003. When I tell you

  1004. that we believe it's

  1005. one of the most

  1006. important series

  1007. we're ever going

  1008. to preach here,

  1009. because we believe

1010. that God is up to big things

1011. right here and right now,

  1012. that he's

  1013. using regular people

  1014. in seemingly small moments

  1015. to change the world.

  1016. Will that be us?

  1017. Will that be us?

  1018. I hope so.

  1019. Open hearts,

  1020. open hands.

  1021. Let's in 2025, let's commit

1022. to walking through the door

  1023. that God opens

  1024. and inviting him

  1025. to use us

  1026. to change the world.

1027. Would you pray with me?

  1028. Heavenly father,

1029. as we sit here on

  1030. January 2nd, we don't

  1031. know what's coming tomorrow,

  1032. let alone

1033. the balance of the year.

  1034. But I pray

  1035. for me

  1036. and for every

  1037. single person here

1038. that our hands would be open,

  1039. and that when

  1040. you open a door,

1041. we choose to walk through.

1042. You have done so much for us,

  1043. shown us

1044. that we can trust you,

1045. help us to follow you

  1046. wherever you lead us.

  1047. We love you, Jesus.

  1048. It's in

1049. your name that we pray.

  1050. Amen.
