Father, we thank you.

God for what you've given us today.

We thank you for your Holy Spirit.

We thank you for the access that we have into your wonderful throne room of grace where we can find forgiveness of our sin and fellowship with you, incredible fellowship with you.

We thank you for your word that it's truth and it leads us into freedom.

Lord, would you presence yourself with us today as we learn from your word in Jesus' name, amen.

Amen.

Well, thank you for joining us today.

And for those of you who have been participating with us on the 21 days of prayer, what a wonderful 21 days, an incredible 21 days of prayer.

Uh we've concluded those 21 days of prayer with people coming to church this Sunday.

And for those of you who weren't able to register in time and the seats all filled up, we're going to do our best to make room for you next week as we're encouraging people to come by weekly.

But we've got two services happening on Sunday, 9:15 and 10:30.

But we're warming the house, we're warming the house of God up with the bodies of the saints, and that's pretty cool.

That's you and I coming to church and just uh coming into the house and making it feel like home and bringing people together.

I'd also like to announce that we've also got our connect groups here starting.

And this is for the fall season, so if you go to kccgroups.ca, you're gonna find a list of all of our Kinect groups, and uh we're encouraging each person to and each family to be a part of a Kinect group because Sunday is wonderful, big church is great, but Monday through Saturday is a whole other whole other uh experience, and we want you to experience that in the life of small groups.

I'd also like to just say a quick thank you to all of those who are continuing to faithfully give.

The church is moving forward, and if you've been faithfully giving, thank you so much.

We couldn't be doing what we're doing without you and your support.

I know you may not be present in the building, but we know your heart is with us because your treasure is coming here.

It's coming to the Lord's house, and that's wonderful.

Uh, we've also wanna remind you that we do have committed missionaries on the field, and so what an encouragement it is for them to be able to receive like a quick text message or or uh email from you or even a quick or a Zoom call to those who are on the field.

I know we've got people in Mexico and Kenya and and uh all over that are just loving the church from afar, and we get to see them join us online from Katelli, Kenya.

It's wonderful that the time uh matches up when they come online.

Uh we go or when they are up, we're starting our service online, and so we're able to talk to them and just welcome them to church.

It's incredible that people can be far, but they're close to our heart, and that's what's so awesome about the technology that we're able to have right now.

Now, this is a new season, and it's a new season, and with this new season, we believe there's a fresh anointing.

Twenty-one days of prayer gave us a great opportunity to be able to seek the heart of God and ask him what he wants to do in this new season, where so much of the world has been turned upside down, we're believing that God is going to start something new and do something new, where the world was caught, captured in a spirit of fear.

We're gonna move forward in a spirit of faith.

When when the world has become isolated, we believe that we're gonna actually join stronger and become better together.

And if you've been feeling it, like I'm sure as I have been, I'm sure you're excited too.

The winds are changing.

And I can feel it in the atmosphere, I can feel it in the church, I can feel it in conversations with families and people that I can that uh come by the offices and and I'm connecting with.

I know that things are changing.

And believe it or not, despite what the media says and the world is saying overall, we're on an uptick.

We're taking off.

We're not landing, we're not dragging our heels, we're taking off.

God's got incredible things for us.

So this message is really about you.

This message is about you and your part in the ecclesia of God, the assembly of God, God's government, God's society on the earth, heaven, come to earth through anointed individuals, you, me, the older, the younger, the men, the women, the young men, the young women, the children, all doing their part, assembling together.

And if you're listening, you may even hear the whisper of God saying, Listen, you are anointed, and you're not alone.

You're not alone.

You've got others with you that are joining uh arms with you to do something incredible in your nation.

And for us, that is our city of Kelowna, and that is our nation of Canada.

Now, you are the one.

I just like you to say that.

You are the one.

Now it sounds really narcissistic to say it, but I do believe that God has anointed you.

And so what do you think of when you think of the word anointing?

The word anointing is that or to be anointed.

It's really a strange word.

We don't use it too often.

But what does it look like?

What does it look like to be, as the scripture says, anointed?

Is it something that just a few people experience?

Is it something that a few special people experience?

But I wonder if you too believe that you are anointed.

And I wonder if you can believe that God can use you to make a difference in this world.

I want to read today from the first text in 1 Samuel chapter 16, verse 11, starting verse 11 to 13.

1 Samuel 16:11

And it's a story about David, and surprisingly, he's the last son of a family of seven sons from the house of Jesse.

And the scripture starts off this way as uh Samuel is looking to anoint, appoint a new king over Israel.

And he comes to the house of Jesse and he says, Are all these the sons that you have?

Are these all the sons you have?

And Jesse says, They're still the youngest.

He's tending the sheep.

One of the translations said, He's the runt of the litter, like he's the little one.

No one really thinks about him.

The youngest.

And Samuel said this.

He said, Send for him.

We will not sit down until he arrives.

So they sent for him and they brought him, and he was glowing with health, had a fine appearance and handsome features.

And the Lord said, Rise and anoint him.

This is the one.

This is the one.

When God anoints you, it's it's that experience where where you've got someone looking you in the eyeballs and looking down at you and saying, This is the one.

You are the one that God's going to use to make a difference.

You are the one.

Now you may not do it independently, you might do it as part of the ecclesia, the church of God, but to know that you are the one is a powerful, powerful understanding and revelation.

So Samuel, he took this horn of oil, a bottle of oil, and he and in front of the presence of his brothers, he anointed him.

And from that day, the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David.

One translation says, it was like a mighty rushing wind went through David and empowered him from that day forward.

Now we know the story of David.

We know that he went back to the field and for years as an anointed king of Israel, ended up having to tend sheep.

But there came a point where he was called into the king's uh chambers to play for the king, play music for the king, to comfort the king, because the king was going through anxiety and distress.

And then there came a point where he stood before a giant Goliath.

And he stood in front of that giant, he called that giant out and he took that giant's head.

The anointing still rested upon him from that moment as a young, uh young, handsome, glowing with health, fine appearance, a young man, the runt of the litter, the seventh of seven sons.

God used him.

And when the Spirit of God entered him, and this is what happens when you're anointed.

The Spirit of God enters you, and you're anointed.

And then your life is changed, and your life begins to be lived according to the promises of God.

We live as though we're truly the one, and you believe it, and you recognize that you are the one that God can use.

And what I'd like to do during this season is wake up the church.

Wake up the house of God.

Give the house of God a resounding kind of like shake, and just remember the fact.

Remember where you've come from, remember who the Father is, remember who your God is.

Remember what he's done for you.

Remember that he has anointed you.

Have knowledge of this.

Understand this.

So this is what happens when you're anointed.

The Spirit of God enters you, and you're anointed, and then your life, your life begins to be lived according to the promises of God, and we live as though we truly are the one that the Holy Spirit can use to make a difference.

And so this is the incredible part of the anointing of God, and it's an incredible revelation for the church.

It's why the church exists, to push back the gates of hell and make a difference in the world, to do good works and to bring justice to the world and to bring mercy to the world.

And that is why we exist, and it's going to be the anointed ones that make that difference.

When I had the experience of being ordained, I was anointed.

And what happened is I had this little bottle of oil, and this little bottle of oil, they would tip it over, they put a dab on their finger, and I would think, you know, they just come and touch you on the head, is what I've seen in at other times at church services, and and uh you've seen it perhaps in movies, etc.

But when I was anointed and I was ordained to be a minister in the church, I remember getting dressed up, I had my suit on, I had a new suit, I was I was going to be prayed for, and the church surrounded me, and the pastors and the and the leaders in the church surrounded me, showing their support for me, and they prayed for me.

And at one point they were going to anoint me with oil, but they did it the way they did it in the scripture.

And the Bible says, or the Bible says with Aaron is that they took the oil and they poured it upon his head.

And the Bible says it ran down, the anointing, which is unity, came down over the head of Aaron, through his beard, over his cloak, down to the floor.

And that's what they did with me.

They took the oil and they dumped it on my head.

Now, my hair was full of oil, and it went down my head, onto my suit jacket, down my shirt, down my pants.

It was down running through the bottom of my feet.

I was anointed.

I was totally smeared.

I was totally covered with this oil.

And that's what the word anointing means.

It means to be covered fully, to be smeared, to be fully enveloped.

And what I need you to see, and what I want you to see, is that God has fully, fully embraced, fully covered you, fully pulled you together so that He can use you.

There's not a part of you that God isn't intending to use.

He wants to use your gifts, your talents, your time, your abilities, your passions, your style, your leadership style to be able to make a difference in the world.

The way we anoint people could be different today, but back then it was clear to everyone that you were anointed.

And when God wants to bless you, he doesn't just dab you, he fully covers you.

Scripture further says about Aaron, it says that it went down his beard, and that's where the Lord actually commanded blessing, even life forevermore.

Now that's an Old Testament idea of the anointing in the New Testament, the new covenant we have through Christ, we're all anointed with the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God.

And to live anointed means that no matter what comes up in our world, regardless of what you may be experiencing, regardless of the challenge, you're the one that God can use.

The Bible says the anointed, they can run through a troop, they can leap over a wall, they can do things that are supernatural.

The anointing takes you places where you would never on your own be able to go to do things that you would never be able to do, to experience things you'd never be able to experience.

That is the anointing.

So what you see today doesn't mean that that same thing you see today is going to be the thing that you need to see tomorrow.

You can become that change agent when you realize and recognize who you have with you, who is on your side, who's with you through this journey of your faith.

If you want to live in this blessing, live in this anointed place, then you need to walk with this blessing.

Live in this blessing, find that life forevermore, find that place where God commands blessing, then you've got to walk in that anointing.

And you need this revelation in your heart, and I need it in my heart, because the world tries to squeeze it out of you that you're gonna be limited, you're gonna be capped, you're gonna be pulled into a corner.

But God's saying, I've got more for you, the church, more for you, Brody, more for you.

Things that you haven't even seen or heard or can even think about, God has got those things planned for you.

You're the anointed.

Now the church, rise up, the church, realize and recognize you have been anointed.

And I do believe when we're talking about from the head to the heart, the anointing is one of those experiences.

It's something that you can be taught, but it needs to be caught.

It goes from information to a transformation, and you really have to believe it.

But there are these points from here to here.

They call it the 18 inches, the greatest distance in the world, to move from knowing something or hearing something to believing it.

You know what I mean?

Someone says I love you, you're like, you hear it, but do you believe it?

I forgive you, I hear it, but do I believe it?

When God is saying, I anointed you, do you hear it?

Do you believe it?

This anointing means to be smeared, to be covered, to be drenched.

But what we hear in the world, and oftentimes the world tries to do, is to smear and cover you and and label you uh with shame and guilt and with a false anointing.

Identify you with something that's false.

So for every reality, for every truth in God, the enemy wants to do something, a false, uh wants to create a lie.

And so there are many people walking around thinking, I'm nobody, I can't do things, I can't make a difference, uh God could never use me, I'm not worthy, I'm not equipped, I'm not good enough.

Where God says, I've anointed you to be a king, I've anointed you for fellowship, like a priest that has fellowship with God, a king that has rulership and capability to do all sorts of things.

Whatever God has purposed for you to do, you can do because of the anointing.

We can't live under that lie of the of the enemy that says, yeah, you you you were smeared once with God, but now I'm gonna smear something else over you.

And it's gonna, it just it takes away, negates what God has done.

No, the truth is God is more powerful, God is bigger, God is better than that.

Just like in the Old Testament, David was anointed to be king, Aaron was anointed to be priest, but God called uh a community, a people who are kings and priests, and we walk in that anointing today, anointed.

I can't imagine what David would have felt like.

Youngest of seven brothers, young, could be handsome, could be in good shape, but out in the field, and I can't imagine him out in the field with a bunch of sheep, and he's sitting there under with his staff, walking through the rocky crags, and he's he's thinking, I've been anointed king, and he didn't see it.

He didn't see it, but God has an anointing for us, and we need to see it just as much as he needed to discover it.

We need to discover this.

The anointing is the possession of every believer, and I believe God has anointed you.

I firmly believe that that God has anointed you if you if he's given you a business to take care of, God's anointed you to be a business person and to take care of that business.

And if that business is functioning for the purposes of God, then God's going to be with you through that.

If I believe that if God has given you children and you've been anointed, if you've been to be a parent, then every skill set, every need you have can be satisfied in the fact that God's purposes, God's ability is there for you.

If you're anointed to think as things creative, and you're just a creative thinker, I believe God's going to use that for his purposes when you submit it to him.

God anoints his people, he anoints them on purpose.

And to understand this is so powerful.

The anointing is the possession of every believer.

You've heard Jesus called the Christ.

Jesus Christ, and Christ wasn't his last name.

Christ actually means anointed one.

It was part of who he was.

He was He was the anointed of God, He was the chosen, the smeared, the He was drenched, He was put on this earth on purpose to make a difference.

And this spirit still lives within us.

In Colossians chapter 3, verses 1 to 4, there's a powerful scripture that actually changed my life.

Colossians 3:1–4

When I read it and understood it, it says this since then you've been raised with Christ.

Set your heart on things above where Christ is, seated in the right hand of God.

So seek Christ.

Set your minds on things above, not on things of this earth.

Start thinking from a heavenly perspective.

For you died, and your life is now healed.

Hidden with Christ in God.

When Christ, and here it is, He is your real life, who is your life, appears, you will also appear with Him.

We take on the name.

We take on that same spirit.

The fact that as He was anointed, we are anointed.

When we are in Christ, when we walk as those who have been called in Christ.

So we look at each other and we celebrate one another.

We honor each other as ones who are anointed.

Hello, you hello, hello, anointed one.

Hello, businessman who's here to make a difference in this world beyond what we can even we can even dream of.

Hello, parent and teacher and and occupationalists and all these other occupations and creative people who've got talents and opportunities.

God wants to use it to make a difference.

I want you to realize the room that you're in.

Even in your own home.

Realize the room you're in with the church.

You're not alone.

Together, we're better.

Together, when we link together, we can make a difference.

This church is covered in Jesus, covered to make a difference in the world.

And we're just beginning.

We're just beginning.

When God anoints people, he anoints people through and through.

I'm just going to share a few of the illustrations in scripture, stories in scripture that really helped me realize the potential and the power of this anointing that rested on people, not Jesus, because we know Jesus was anointed, but sometimes when we think of Jesus, we're like, wow, you know, you're asking me to act like Jesus.

It's quite a high bar.

But what about people like Elisha?

Elisha was a prophet, a prophet of God.

He traveled from point to point, and he spoke the message that God was speaking to him for the people.

And he did incredible things, but the scripture says that he was anointed.

Anointed.

And it came to a time when he had passed away.

And they put his body in a sepulchre.

And his body, of course, began to break away, and his bones were laying in the sepulchre.

And the scripture says that there was a time in 2 Kings 13, 21, where the Israelites were burying someone.

So they were near the grave site, and a marauding group came and was trying to rob from them.

And they ended up picking up this body that they were going to bury and started running off until this body got so heavy that they threw the body into the sepulchre where Elisha had been buried.

And the scripture says that when the body actually touched the bones of Elisha, touched Elisha's bones, the man came to life.

He stood up on his feet.

The anointing of God was resident in the bones of Elisha.

Like this is when God anoints you, it's not just a dab dab dab.

God saying, I have you here for a purpose.

Don't you forget it.

Don't you think about it that anything other than the fact that you are anointed.

I've made you a king.

I've made you a priest.

I've given you my precious Holy Spirit.

Go into the world.

Make a difference.

You're fully ready.

You're fully prepared.

Anything ever comes your way, you've got it.

You're fully covered with the anointing.

In the New Testament, Jesus, of course, has returned to heaven, and his disciples are there.

Now, these disciples, they're not like Saint Peter of the day.

These were like coarse fishermen, just coming from a point where they had denied Christ.

Peter, particularly, to a little girl.

Don't you know Jesus?

No, I don't know Jesus.

No, I don't know Jesus.

No, I don't know Jesus.

Three times.

And yet God anointed him.

The anointing was on him.

And when Peter realized that, the the whole group of people, like so many people realized that he was different.

And they said, aren't these just fishermen?

Aren't these like the riffraff of the community?

Can these guys actually be the ones that are here to make a difference?

They're turning our cities upside down.

It's because they had walked in this revelation that God called them to make a difference and to do something in the world.

And from these 21 days of prayer, I realize that the church is not just a small like corner, corner building in a community.

But it is a cornerstone that Christ is the head of, that holds the world together and holds society together.

And when we lean on Jesus and we lean on Christ and He sends us out with His anointing to make a difference in the world.

Wherever you may go, I don't want to pigeonhole anyone.

This is what it looks like for individuals.

Wherever you're going, God is going with you to make a difference.

Peter in the book of Acts, chapter 5, verse 14 says that people were bringing people to large numbers of men, women were coming to know Jesus, like 5,000 one day, 3,000 the next day.

Acts 5:14

And as a result, they started bringing their sick to Peter on the streets, and they were laying them on mats so that when Peter walked by, that his shadow would fall on the people who were sick.

And when the shadow landed on the people, they would get up and they would be well.

And the scripture says all of them were healed.

All the sick were healed.

All those who were tormented with thoughts and imaginations and evil things, they were made clean.

Paul, another example in scripture, and you might think, well, Paul was pretty extraordinary.

Well, the Bible actually says that he was like he was great with a pen and paper.

He wrote some pretty incredible things, and he was a great debater, but to meet him in person was actually very uh unremarkable.

And he wasn't much of a man.

When you think of P with Paul, he wasn't a strong centurion, he was a small man.

He was, but he had an incredible anointing.

And this anointing allowed him to do incredible and extraordinary things.

In Acts 19, verse 11 and 12, they said that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him, they would touch him, and they would take the handkerchief and the apron to the people who were sick, and they would lay them on the individual, and the people would get well.

Acts 19:11

Now, religion has taught us like, well, that's just the clergy, that's just the pastors and the people of title in the scripture.

And we're just the simple laity, we're just the simple people.

But Ephesians chapter 4 says it differently.

Ephesians 4 · chapter mention

It says in the body of Christ, there's apostles and prophets and pastors and teachers and evangelists, and they come together and their gifts get stirred up so that they can go into the world to make the difference.

Let me say again to you, you are the one.

You are the anointed of God.

You have been created on purpose, you've been appointed, you've been drenched, you've been covered, you've been, you've been called out.

And God has chosen you for a purpose.

And God has chosen you for a time and a season.

And that time and season is today.

It doesn't matter if you're seven years old, eight years old, six years old, or if you're 60, 70, 80 years old.

God has a purpose for you today.

And I'm so excited that the church is rallying together, coming together as the ecclesia of God, the assembly of God to make a difference in the world.

And I just love you.

I love being with you.

And I'm excited when we come together, we're going to be stronger than when we were separated.

When we we're going to come together and we're going to be stronger than when we were separated.

God's got us in his hand.

Amen.

That's just the start.

That's just the beginning of this message.

God has so much more for us in this time and in this series.

And I'm looking forward to being able to share with you more next week.

So if you're here today and you realize that you've never placed Jesus first in your life, and you've never experienced this sense of purpose that you know that you were created for, it comes, the first step is just accepting Christ and accepting him into your heart and into your life.

And you do that by recognizing that you recognizing that you have been adrift, that you've done life your way, and you want to turn to him and submit to him.

And we we express that as making Jesus your Lord and saying, I want you to be Lord of my life.

I need you to be Lord of my thoughts.

I need you to be Lord of my words.

I need you to be Lord of my friendships and my resources.

I need you in my life to be Lord of all.

And recognize that by being Lord of our life, we can give to Him all of our all of our past faults, all of our past problems, and we can say, Lord, thank you for carrying those for me at the cross.

Thank you for taking care of me at the cross.

So and providing for me a new way, a new beginning.

So I'm gonna pray with you a prayer.

This prayer is gonna be at the bottom of the screen, and it's gonna walk you through this invitational process.

So would you do that with me if that's you today, whether you're at home or joining us on any kind of a stream or even in service today, would you uh follow me in this prayer?

And it goes like this Lord Jesus, and say this in your own heart today.

Mean it with all your with all your intent.

Thank you for coming to earth.

I believe you died and that you rose again so that I could be forgiven and have a friendship with you.

And right now, I ask you to forgive me from all my sin.

And I let the past go.

I ask you to come into my life, be my savior.

I receive you today as my savior and my Lord.

Make me the person you created me, you made me to be.

In Jesus' name.

Amen.
