  1. We welcome you to the Via Zion Sermon podcast.

  2. We are a church based out of Chennai, India.

  3. We are thrilled that you're tuned in today and hope that you

  4. will be refreshed, revived, and energized by what you hear.

  5. Our desire is that you will live life with a renewed sense of

  6. purpose that stems from a vibrant faith in Jesus.

  7. The year 2025 is 1 where we will be positioned by God to possess

  8. our promise. We are believing that God is

  9. bringing us into our place of promise.

  10. It is now time to take the land and to do so we need to get our

  11. spiritual posture in place and stop looking back so that we can

  12. face forward with courage and faith.

  13. Let's get going and possess our promise.

  14. Amen. We are taking the land.

  15. This whole year, 2025 was being positioned to possess the

  16. promise. That was what our team was.

  17. And we believe that as we've completed the month of

  18. September, we're entering the month of October.

  19. We are entering it strong, knowing that God has now

  20. positioned us and now it is time to take the land.

  21. And I believe that God is calling us into this place.

  22. Of really, you know, claiming that which is ours in the

  23. Kingdom. Many times when we look at

  24. claiming, we look at land and we look at the things that

  25. sometimes seem to really catch our fancy, which could be, you

  26. know, claiming a property, claiming an inheritance,

  27. something like that on a physical realm.

  28. But I believe that, you know, on a spiritual realm, the things

  29. that we have access to, the things that we that are meant to

  30. be ours and sometimes just out of reach because the enemy is

  31. probably sitting on it. Probably it got removed

  32. generations before God wants to restore.

  33. It could be peace in your marriage.

  34. It could be restoration of joy that you lost over the past

  35. years. Could be the health that you

  36. lost because of an ailment, because of a set back.

  37. It could be the. The sense of oneness you had

  38. with your family that has been lost.

  39. But I believe there's a season when God is going to recompense.

  40. He's going to restore it, and that is what it looks like to

  41. take the land. And we're going to be looking at

  42. the book of Joshua. It's personally one of my

  43. favorite books. I remember 7 years back when I

  44. was going to walk into surgery, I was meditating on the book of

  45. Joshua then. And little did I know, seven

  46. years later, God would bring my attention back to this book.

  47. And as Geshav and I have been studying this book, it has

  48. brought back fresh insight into the plans of God.

  49. You know, because all of us have been through wilderness seasons.

  50. All of us have gone through those barren, fruitless seasons,

  51. but still, things were happening.

  52. Life was happening. We kept doing the things we had

  53. to. But then God indicated that that

  54. season is over and spring has come and you know, God is doing

  55. a new thing. And as we look at the book of

  56. Joshua, we're looking today at Joshua chapter 1, where, you

    Joshua 1 chapter mention

  57. know, there's the season which has ended.

  58. Moses has just died. And Moses before he died, gave

  59. this long sermon which is recorded in the book of

  60. Deuteronomy, where he blesses the people.

  61. He reminds them of God's word. He reminds them of all that God

  62. has done for them, reminds them of their trespasses, the times

  63. they messed up and said, hey, listen, you're going to enter

  64. the land now. This is what is expected of you.

  65. And he prepared them for what laid ahead.

  66. He told them about this land with which was flowing with milk

  67. and honey. But he also said there's a

  68. propensity for you to sin. There's a propensity for you to

  69. wander off. So keep your eyes on God, love

  70. him with all your heart. Serve Him alone.

  71. He kept reiterating that. And then Moses is taken up by

  72. God. You know he.

  73. Goes up to this mountain, he dies, no one finds his body.

  74. And then God meets with Joshua, God talks to him.

  75. And then we're going to read the whole chapter, just about 18

  76. verses, but I want us to read it to understand what this actually

  77. is going to look like. What is taking the land look

  78. like? Here was Joshua.

  79. He had always been in the shadow of Moses.

  80. Moses was one of the greatest leaders Israel had had up until

  81. then. He was a prophet, He was a

  82. leader, He was a judge, and he was also a military leader.

  83. He led them into a couple of conquests.

  84. And yet this season was going to look different.

  85. Moses had died. They were on the cusp of the

  86. Promised Land, this land that they had heard about for 40

  87. years. An entire generation was wiped

  88. out from entering the land and prevented because they were

  89. unbelieving, because they were doubtful of God.

  90. They had seen God's hand at the Red Sea.

  91. They had. Seen God, God's hands in the 10

  92. plagues, and yet they feared when they saw Kanan and its

  93. giants and they backed off. And so 40 years of wandering to

  94. their entire generation was wiped out.

  95. And then a fresh generation rises up and Joshua is leading

  96. them. Joshua's from the old guard, but

  97. he's called into this leadership position and he's being told

  98. what's coming up. And there's a repetitive verse

  99. that God keeps that he keeps speaking over him, which is do

  100. not be afraid. Do not be discouraged.

  101. And the thing about this is the new season, many times when we

  102. look at new, we think it's good and it's just it's, you know,

  103. trouble free. But I want to encourage you to

  104. remember this. A new season has new challenges.

  105. It has new opportunities, yes, but he'll have new burdens.

  106. It'll have new struggles, but it'll have a special grace.

  107. It'll have a special anointing. And so I want to encourage you

  108. that as we're talking about the season of possessing that which

  109. is ours, of stepping into the promises that God has spoken

  110. over us, you need to be prepared for fresh opposition.

  111. You need to be prepared for certain giants because it's

  112. going to be inevitable. But the beauty of what we're

  113. going to be looking at today specifically is Joshua one where

  114. he's saying there's this land which has been given to you,

  115. meaning it was assigned to you for generations already.

  116. When Abraham received the word, God was telling him, hey, you're

  117. going to get this land. He even gave him a time when the

  118. sin of the Amorites will reach such a level, when I will bring

  119. my people, I will drive these guys out and your people occupy.

  120. This was a land that was promised and yet it required

  121. that they go in and take possession of it.

  122. It just wouldn't come automatically to them.

  123. It was not deeded to them and given over for eternity.

  124. No, they had to fight for what was theirs.

  125. And I want to remind you that some of you, you may be already

  126. feeling like you're on the land of promise.

  127. You have a cushy job. You have the money income that

  128. you've longed for. You have the house, you have all

  129. the the stuff in the house, which is great.

  130. You're living your best life. But I want to ask you, have you

  131. got complacent about the new frontiers that God is calling

  132. you to? Some of you have been so

  133. discouraged with the lack of anything happening, you found it

  134. so unfruitful. The last few years that you're

  135. saying God, I really don't believe this is the time.

  136. I thought every year this was the time and didn't come.

  137. But I want to encourage you that you would, you know, be

  138. expectant for what God is going to do because this is the thing

  139. in Jesus, Joshua and his people lived in the old covenant.

  140. They are a good model for us to model how we take the land.

  141. But here God is not calling us to wipe out a people group.

  142. God is not calling us to put people under our feet.

  143. He's calling us to fight the enemy and take back the the

  144. inheritance of the enemies stole from us.

  145. The enemy is not a person. The enemy is not a people group.

  146. The enemy is not someone we don't like.

  147. The enemy is the Devourer. He's the enemy of us, so he's

  148. the accuser of the brethren. He is the one who's under our

  149. feet and in our lives in. All our lives the enemy has

  150. taken certain things and literally shown us that he's put

  151. it under lock and chain. It could be your health, it

  152. could be your prosperity, it could be that that one addiction

  153. that you have been unable to beat.

  154. It could be the generational curse you have inherited and you

  155. don't know how to get rid of. But I want to encourage you.

  156. This is a season when God is saying those things that the

  157. enemy has marked off and said is his is actually yours.

  158. You can ask back for it. God is saying I want to give you

  159. abundance of soul. God is saying that it is for

  160. Christ. It is for freedom that Christ

  161. set you free. Freedom is yours.

  162. He says you, I am your peace that has broken down every wall

  163. you've been lacking. God is saying that is your

  164. inheritance, don't give it up. Maybe you've been saying I don't

  165. have joy. I don't laugh as much.

  166. I don't, I don't relish every moment when God is calling you

  167. back into a place of tremendous joy, tremendous joy.

  168. You have felt like prayers have not been answered.

  169. When God is saying, when you ask according to my will, everything

  170. you ask for I will do according to my perfect will.

  171. This is what our inheritance is. We have been making it so small

  172. by saying, God, if you give me that house back, if you give me

  173. that money, I lost back. Lord, if you.

  174. Would only get me married Lord, if you only would give me

  175. children. But God is saying no ask me, ask

  176. me for the bigger things. Ask this huge prayer Lord, let

  177. your will be done. Let heaven come down to earth.

  178. Lord, give me the nations as my inheritance.

  179. Lord, let the the nation's gates be opened.

  180. Lord, I pray. That you will enlarge my

  181. territories or that we would start praying those prayers that

  182. delight God and put them into action on another level.

  183. What is it that you and I have lost?

  184. What is it that you and I have been craving for deep down?

  185. That we maybe you've been craving, craving significance.

  186. But you have significance in your identity in Christ.

  187. And God wants you to get rid of that tract of land of orphanness

  188. and says come in and occupy the the space of sonship.

  189. You see what I'm saying? The inheritance is so big

  190. because when you start living like a son over a slave, when

  191. you start living like, like a child of God, the way you live

  192. is different. The way you look is different,

  193. the way you act is different. Everything changes.

  194. For some of you, this land of promise could be God bringing

  195. you into a family. God giving you a spouse could be

  196. giving you God giving you children.

  197. For some of you, God could be giving you a career that you

  198. have felt called to. It may not pay you much, but God

  199. is calling you into a new career.

  200. For some of you, God is opening a space for you to serve the

  201. Kingdom better. He could be giving you a Kingdom

  202. idea for your business. For some of you, God is bringing

  203. healing and restoration in your body because you've been

  204. struggling with the sickness for a long time.

  205. He's going to give you victory. He's going to give you

  206. restoration of a mental health issue, whatever it is He is

  207. taking you and maybe into a place of wholeness.

  208. Where you will. Overcome addictions and walk in

  209. freedom. For some of you, the promised

  210. land could be God induced friendships, Kingdom friendships

  211. that help you grow into the likeness of Christ.

  212. It is going to be amazing. But The thing is this, it's our

  213. time to possess. But are you in a posture of

  214. possessing, or are you in a posture of complacency?

  215. Are you in a posture of discouragement?

  216. Are you saying I don't even read the word because I've waited for

  217. so long? I have used to claim the word.

  218. I used to pray the Scriptures, I used to meditate, but now

  219. nothing's happened. So I'm deciding to rest.

  220. Too many people have quit just before their miracle.

  221. Too many people gave up just before the situation turned a

  222. corner. Would you be one of those

  223. people? Or will you push through till

  224. you see the land on which you are meant to put your feet?

  225. Imagine that you were just before it turned the corner and

  226. the promised land was at the doorstep and you just gave up

  227. then. What a tragedy, What a tragedy.

  228. I think it's about time that we set about claiming.

  229. What is rightfully ours? What promise did God give you?

  230. Maybe it's a dream that you had 10 years back to start something

  231. to pioneer something. This could be your time.

  232. This could be your time. As we look into the book of

  233. Joshua, Joshua chapter 1 reading from verse one on, I want you to

    Joshua 1 chapter mention

  234. ask the Lord to stir up within you.

  235. What it is he's calling you to possess?

  236. Ask him, Lord, what is the old? What is the new?

  237. Show me the partition here. In the story, the River Jordan

  238. marked the boundary. As they crossed the Jordan, the

  239. old was gone. The new had come.

  240. They were in the Promised Land, but there's a preparation that

  241. happened to Joshua before he stepped in, and that's what

  242. we're going to be reading about. After the death of Moses, the

  243. servant of the Lord, the Lord said to Joshua, son of Nun,

  244. Moses is aid. Moses, my servant is dead.

  245. Now then you and all these people get ready to cross the

  246. Jordan River into the land. I'm about to give them to their

  247. Israelites. I will give you every place

  248. where you set your foot. As I promised Moses.

  249. Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon and from

  250. the great river, the Euphrates, all the Hittite country to the

  251. Mediterranean Sea in the West. No one will be able to stand

  252. against you all the days of your life.

  253. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you.

  254. I will never leave you nor forsake you.

  255. Be strong and courageous because you will lead these people to

  256. inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.

  257. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law

  258. my servant Moses gave you. Do not turn from it to the right

  259. or the left, that you may be successful.

  260. Wherever you go. Keep this book of the Law always

  261. on your lips. Meditate on it day and night, so

  262. that you may be careful to do everything written in it.

  263. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

  264. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous, do not

  265. be afraid, do not be discouraged, for the Lord your

  266. God will be with you wherever you go.

  267. So Joshua ordered the officers of the people go through the

  268. camp, tell the people, get your provisions ready. 3 days from

  269. now you will cross the Jordan here to go in and take

  270. possession of the land the Lord your God is giving you for your

  271. own. But to the.

  272. Reubenites, Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh.

  273. Joshua said. Remember the command that Moses,

  274. the servant of the Lord, gave you after he said the Lord your

  275. God. God will give you rest by giving

  276. you this land. Your wives, your children and

  277. your livestock may stay in the land that Moses gave you east of

  278. the Jordan, but all your fighting men?

  279. Ready for battle must crossover ahead of your fellow Israelites.

  280. You are to help them until the Lord gives them rest, as He has

  281. done for you, and until they too have taken possession of the

  282. land the Lord your God is giving them.

  283. After that you may go back and occupy your own land, which

  284. Moses assumed of the Lord gave you, east of the Jordan toward

  285. the sunrise. Then they answered, Joshua.

  286. Whatever you commanded us we will do, and wherever you send

  287. us, we will go. Just as we fully obeyed Moses,

  288. so we will obey you only. May the Lord your God be with

  289. you as he was with Moses. Whoever rebels against your word

  290. and does not obey it, whatever you may command them, will be

  291. put to death. Only be strong and courageous.

  292. I love this passage. Joshua 19 is something that has

  293. just stayed with me all these years.

  294. But wherever I go, whatever season I step into, it's like

  295. God reminds me, Be strong and courageous.

  296. I am with you. I will be with you wherever you

  297. go. If someone is watching this

  298. right now and you have been feeling so insecure, God, I'm

  299. going to a new country, I'm moving to a new city.

  300. I'm doing something totally out of my depth.

  301. I want to encourage you, Joshua 19 is for you.

  302. He is with you wherever you go, whatever you do, He is with you.

  303. And you can be bold and courageous, right?

  304. And when we look at this whole chapter, God speaking directly

  305. to Joshua, possibly the way, you know, we when we sit with the

  306. word, we hear God speak to us. And it's probably that.

  307. But what I love at the end of the chapter is God confirms his

  308. word to Joshua through the lips of leaders who are going to

  309. surround him for the rest of his life.

  310. These are people who have already got their land.

  311. They've already got their inheritance.

  312. And I want to speak specifically to those of you who feel like

  313. you're already in the promised land, Praise God.

  314. But would you still inconvenience yourself just

  315. about a little so that you could pray with those who haven't yet

  316. made it? Would you pray for those who are

  317. waiting for that destiny moment? Will you pray for those who are

  318. waiting for those things that God has promised them, rather

  319. than being complacent in where you're at, happy with what

  320. you've got? What if you were to say, Lord, I

  321. want to stand with them? What if I will stand shoulder to

  322. shoulder and contend with them for their medical, contend with

  323. them for their breakthrough, contend with them for their

  324. inheritance? What if we were to do that?

  325. What if you and I could do that? Coming back to this entire

  326. passage, there are three things that I want to leave with you in

  327. order to actually take the land. There are three important things

  328. you and I need to do. It's actually 3 verbs, almost

  329. three things that we must do right.

  330. A lot of times, like I said, at the end of a wilderness season,

  331. we're sometimes so exhausted and weary.

  332. Yeah, we're so, you know, just discouraged.

  333. We're practically lying on this couch, and we're just like, God,

  334. do whatever. I'm here for it.

  335. But the posture must change for taking the land.

  336. We cannot be in the posture we wear in the previous season like

  337. we looked at the season of the harvest.

  338. The harvest was when God did a mighty work in US more than

  339. anything we were doing. It was us exposing ourselves to

  340. Him and Him reaping the harvest in our lives.

  341. Him taking what was sown in generations and and seasons

  342. before and bringing the harvest. It was Him who was doing the

  343. winnowing and the threshing. But now?

  344. But now it's coming to a place where we need to do something to

  345. take the land. And I want to encourage you

  346. before we go any further that taking the land is God's work.

  347. Actually giving back things to us that we lost over years or

  348. generations is God's job. Even fighting those enemies and

  349. pulling them down is God's job. But there is a part you when I

  350. play in it and our posture matters how what we do in the in

  351. the interim matters. And I believe that I'm just

  352. going to leave it as ABC with you today so that it sticks in

  353. your mind throughout the season. That comes because you are

  354. called to take the land. But the first thing you need to

  355. do is arise in the NKJV. It says this.

  356. This is what God says. Moses, my servant is dead.

  357. Now, Therefore, arise. Go over this, Jordan, you and

  358. all this people to the land which I am giving them.

  359. Arise. It's possible that Joshua was

  360. discouraged, possible that Josh was afraid.

  361. Think about it. Here's a guy who always LED

  362. behind Moses. When Moses left the Tabernacle,

  363. he lingered. He caught the glory cloud on

  364. Moses. He he interacted with Moses.

  365. He fought when Moses told him the battle strategy.

  366. He fought in that valley of Gibeon and Moses heard and Aaron

  367. stood on the top and they mediated for victory.

  368. Joshua had seen Moses at very close quarters.

  369. He had seen the leadership ability, and yet he saw the

  370. apostasy of the people. He saw the disobedience and

  371. rebellion of the people. And now Moses has died and

  372. Joshua has to handle these people.

  373. Can you imagine the magnitude of the task that was on?

  374. It must have been so daunting. And he knew that the Promised

  375. Land was just there. He knew it was his job.

  376. But here was God reaffirming and say go, arise.

  377. Get up. Go.

  378. And I love this verse from Isaiah 60, which I believe is

  379. very pertinent to the season where in Isaiah 60 verse one in

  380. the amplified classic, it says arise from the depression and

  381. prostration in which circumstances have kept you.

  382. Rise to a new life, shine, be radiant with the glory of the

  383. Lord, for your light has come. The glory of the Lord has risen

  384. upon you. When we looked at the season of

  385. the harvest, we looked at. How the glory of God is what is

  386. the weight on us, So that in the winnowing, what keeps us going

  387. is the glory of God which is in US and on us.

  388. That is what is evident to people.

  389. When people are observing you in a work situation, at home, in

  390. your neighborhood, when they see you behave different, it's God's

  391. glory which is shining through you, right?

  392. And the beautiful thing is that God is calling you and me to

  393. rise up. Whether we rise up or not is on

  394. us. But the call on all of us is to

  395. raise. Too many of us have been

  396. slumbering when we need to stand on that watch post for our

  397. families, for our marriages, for our churches and and pray and

  398. stand in the gap. Too many of us have been

  399. sleeping when we needed to stand at the end of it.

  400. Then we say, Oh well, it's too bad my marriage ended.

  401. Oh well, my child has gone astray.

  402. What were you doing? Where you on that watchtower

  403. calling out to God night and day?

  404. Where you in a position of standing ready with your

  405. weaponry, the armor in place, ready to take back what the

  406. enemy stole today, No matter what kind of slumbering you've

  407. done. Maybe you've been slumbering out

  408. of it for a couple of years. Maybe you just started getting

  409. exhausted. Maybe it's been a couple of

  410. months. You're just so tired.

  411. You're like not 10th month and nothing has happened.

  412. Still, what's going on? Am I praying to a living God?

  413. I want to encourage you that now's the time for you to rise

  414. up, arise from that depression, that prostration because of what

  415. life has thrown you because God is doing a new thing around the

  416. globe. God is doing a new thing.

  417. You hear the stories of people encountering Jesus in every

  418. situation, walk of life, It's amazing.

  419. God's glory is evident. God's glory is evident.

  420. What are the new things God is calling you to step into?

  421. Unless you rise up and get in, you can't really do it.

  422. You know, with COVID, so many jobs moved online.

  423. And recently, recently talking to a friend of ours is in a high

  424. position in a company, and he was just telling us how

  425. difficult it is to convince people to come back into work.

  426. They're so comfortable sitting with a shirt and just, you know,

  427. they're jockey shots or briefs in meetings and then log off and

  428. do their own thing. He said it's harder to get

  429. people to get up and come into work.

  430. And I wonder whether that apathy has also, you know, kind of

  431. seeped into our spiritual life when you know about God.

  432. I'm sure that you're not speaking to me directly to the

  433. Bible. So I'll just, you know, listen

  434. to a podcast and maybe some word there will resonate with me or

  435. maybe I'll just go to, you know, a place where you know other

  436. believers are and let the vibe kind of rub off onto me.

  437. Have we gotten too complacent? Has your weariness got you to

  438. sleep when you needed to be awake and alert?

  439. The The apostle Peter writes about needing to be alert

  440. because our enemy is like a. Roaring lion waiting to pounce

  441. on someone. And while we don't want to give

  442. him too much credence, I want to be.

  443. Alert to what God is doing. I want to be alert to what God

  444. is doing in the earth, what he's doing in my world, what he's

  445. doing in my family. I want to be alert and awake.

  446. You need to get up. It's time to get up.

  447. You cannot do the things in the new season if you're on your

  448. back. You need to get up.

  449. You need to be alert, you need to be praying, you need to be

  450. standing. So the first thing is arise,

  451. arise. Second thing is be bold a arise

  452. BB bold, be bold. Why?

  453. Because God is with you. You have to understand the other

  454. nations who had heard that Israel had was crossing the

  455. Jordan to come to them. We're afraid, Rehab tells them.

  456. Our hearts melted in fear when we heard of what God had done

  457. for you. They were not afraid of the

  458. Israelites, Percy. They were afraid of the God who

  459. was with them. You can be bold because of the

  460. one who is with you, The one who is in you.

  461. Greater is he that is in me than he that is in the world.

  462. Why should I be afraid? Why do I live in such anxiety?

  463. I'm asking myself this. When the one who is with me is

  464. almighty, the one who is for me is a mighty man of war.

  465. This is the God I serve. And yet sometimes we're just so

  466. afraid. We're so afraid.

  467. And The thing is this, you have to understand, like I said, the

  468. new land is going to have new challenges.

  469. It's going to have new burdens, it's going to have new

  470. obstacles, it's going to have giants.

  471. And therefore there's a need for you to be bold.

  472. I when I read Joshua 19, as much as it's encouraging, it always

  473. kind of scared me because it felt like God was prepping

  474. Joshua by saying be brave, be bold, be courageous because

  475. there's going to be a ton of reasons for you to be scared.

  476. And that is the truth of our lives as believers, as we

  477. mature, as we grow into the likeness of Christ, as he gives

  478. us more in our hands to do, as he entrusts more of the Kingdom

  479. to us, as he gives people to us to to shepherd and serve, the

  480. responsibility increases, The mantle gets heavier.

  481. I need more of him. I'm going to have many reasons

  482. to be afraid. I'm going to have many reasons

  483. to tremble. I'm going to be discouraged many

  484. times. But he's saying be bold.

  485. Be strong, don't be discouraged, don't be dismayed.

  486. Why? Because I am with you.

  487. The book of Proverbs, Proverbs 28 was one.

  488. It says the wicked flee when no one pursues them, but the

  489. righteous are as bold as a lion. Both the wicked and the

  490. righteous have people chase after them, have enemies pursue

  491. them. The wicked run even though no

  492. one's pursuing, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.

  493. If you watch Nat Geo videos of lions and lionesses with their

  494. Cubs, even baby lions know who they are.

  495. Even a cub is fearless. They don't tremble in the face

  496. of opposition. And the thing that the lion does

  497. is it stands bold and strong in the face of all enemies.

  498. It knows its strength. It knows its power.

  499. You and I are children of the Lion of Judah.

  500. By definition, we are lion Cubs. Why are we trembling when we

  501. need to be standing bold? Why do we stand trembling?

  502. The reason we stand trembling? When I was looking at the word

  503. for bold, the righteous are as bold as a lion, I was studying

  504. the word bold. And the bold.

  505. Word bold actually means to trust and to be confident.

  506. And by, you know, association, it also means to take refuge in.

  507. So what does that mean? I would be bold when I trust or

  508. rely or I'm confident or take refuge in a very strong person.

  509. The reason many times I'm not bold is because my confidence is

  510. in myself. My trust is in someone.

  511. My refuge is nowhere. I think that I can handle it,

  512. and I stand there completely defenseless, wondering what to

  513. do. But The thing is, it shifts.

  514. The righteous are as bold as a lion.

  515. You and I are clothed in the righteousness of Christ.

  516. We're hidden in Christ if he is my refuge.

  517. If he is my refuge, I don't have to fear a thing.

  518. I don't have to fear a thing. If you've ever seen these,

  519. these, you know, funny videos of, you know, large dog and a

  520. small dog. So if there's a really tiny dog

  521. and the big dog is barking at something, the little dog stands

  522. and it's sure, you know, shadow and it kind of just mooches off

  523. it's power. Too many of us have taken refuge

  524. in the wrong things. We're not actually trusting or

  525. having confidence in the right person.

  526. What if you and I were to get like Psalm 91 says, get into the

  527. shadow of the Almighty? If my refuge is Christ, I have

  528. every reason to be bold. I have every.

  529. Reason to be courageous. Joshua was had already faced 2

  530. big kings Org and King Sihan of the Amorite org of Bastion.

  531. He had fought people. Moses had LED that charge.

  532. But Joshua was on the battlefield fighting.

  533. He had faced these two guys. He had wiped them out but they

  534. were long battles. But what was coming was he was

  535. going to be fighting 33 kings to take over their territories.

  536. These were the Canaanite kings. These guys were strong, they

  537. were vicious, they were powerful, they had iron

  538. Chariots. These guys were ruthless and God

  539. was saying this land belong to you.

  540. Now I'm giving it, you go take it.

  541. This is very interesting thing. It says over there, this is the

  542. land that I'm giving you. The Lord your God is giving you

  543. this land right in verse. Where does that come?

  544. Yeah. Verse 2, he says I am the land

  545. which I'm giving to them. Verse 3, every place that the

  546. sole of your foot will tread upon, I have given you past

  547. tense. So one is I am giving you

  548. present continuous, but I've already given it to you.

  549. What is he saying? He's saying this is a victory

  550. that is already won, but you have to enforce the victory, and

  551. for that you need to be bold. What is my boldness today?

  552. My boldness is that God is with me.

  553. My boldness is that in Christ I have the victory.

  554. We are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus, that wherever He

  555. takes me, we're walking in victory.

  556. I carry the aroma of Christ. That is the reason for my

  557. boldness. Without boldness, their hearts

  558. would have melted in fear. You and I in the new season need

  559. to infuse this boldness consistently into us.

  560. We need to know who we are in Christ.

  561. We need to know who Christ is, Reveal in that, dwell in that.

  562. And from that place comes a boldness saying, Lord, anything

  563. that happens, I know you're with me.

  564. I know that all things work together for good, that for them

  565. that love the Lord. I trust you.

  566. Your timing is perfect God, your timing is perfect.

  567. When I was reading this one verse in Exodus, it says he

  568. brought them out 430 years later from, you know, Egypt.

  569. He brings them out in the Exodus to the very day that God had

  570. promised Abraham. And when I read that, I realized

  571. why am I worried about time or a lot of times running out?

  572. Why am I worried? This is a God who is in the

  573. detail. This is a God who does things to

  574. the very minute of his plan. So if you have been saying God,

  575. I, I'm so scared. I don't know when you're going

  576. to do what you're promised to do I'm I'm, I'm feeling like, you

  577. know, you're, you're, you know, kind of gone back on your word.

  578. He's not a man. He doesn't lie.

  579. If he said it, he will do it. His arm is not too short.

  580. It will save you. But the season will require that

  581. you keep choosing courage. You keep staying bold, you keep

  582. trusting, you keep taking refuge in me.

  583. I was reading this verse this week which encouraged me so

  584. much, which was I think from Isaiah 57.

  585. It says they that take refuge in me will inherit the land and

  586. possess my holy mountain. It is only when you and I take

  587. refuge in Him. Trust Him.

  588. The righteous are as bold as a lion.

  589. They trust in Him. You will inherit that which is

  590. yours. Who is your refuge?

  591. Who is your refuge today? The reason we need to be bold is

  592. so that you will possess what is rightfully yours.

  593. You will not run when you need to go and stand and possess.

  594. It is so that you will obey God to the fullest.

  595. If you're fearful, if you're melting in fear, you cannot obey

  596. God because everything God is saying will sound like no way.

  597. God is definitely not asking me to do that.

  598. And you will turn tail and run. The reason you need to be bold

  599. is to prosper and be successful. Look at this in verses six to

  600. seven. He says be strong and courageous

  601. because you will lead these people to inherit the land.

  602. Without boldness, no inheritance.

  603. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law

  604. that Moses gave you. Without boldness, you will not

  605. choose not to obey. You will take the ones that you

  606. want to obey and you'll discard the rest.

  607. He says, obey all of it, right? And then He also says over

  608. there, then keep this book of the law.

  609. Meditate on it so that you will be prosperous and successful.

  610. Obedience to God's Word will directly create a season of

  611. success and prosperity because you are in His Word, you are in

  612. His will. Too many of us want the

  613. prosperity and the success without the obedience, without

  614. the boldness. How?

  615. Courageous are you to stand up for Jesus in your office?

  616. The time is coming when we need to stand and be bold and say,

  617. hey, I'm a Jesus follower. I cannot come to this event.

  618. I follow Jesus. I, I kind of live a set apart

  619. life. It may not work for you.

  620. So I'm going to step out of this.

  621. When will you live with courage? When will you live with

  622. boldness? Because if not now I don't know

  623. when. The righteous are as bold as a

  624. lion. Courage of conviction, courage

  625. of who you stand for, the courage for of what you stand

  626. for. God is calling us into a season

  627. of courage. The third thing A was arise.

  628. B was B bold. C is chew, chew on God's word.

  629. It's another word for meditation, you know, and with

  630. all the Eastern, Far East meditative techniques, this got

  631. such a bad rap. But meditating on God's Word is

  632. everything. Look at what He says.

  633. He says. Keep this book of the Law always

  634. on your lips. Meditate on it day and night so

  635. that you may be careful to do everything written in it.

  636. This may be the key to even the New Testament portion which

  637. talks about how the Word is now written on your heart.

  638. How is it? Written on your heart when it's

  639. on your mouth, when it's in your brain bouncing around, when you

  640. have consumed it so much that it becomes one with you.

  641. And The funny thing is, what you meditate on is what you live

  642. out. If you're meditating on the

  643. stuff that you're constantly consuming from all kinds of

  644. platforms, from constant non-stop entertainment, your

  645. life is kind of driven by that. I remember growing up, 2000 was

  646. when Friends came out, you know the sitcom.

  647. And I remember that all of us in that season, we were all 1617

  648. year olds, a whole bunch of our friends circle started dating.

  649. A whole bunch of us were hungry to go to a coffee shop.

  650. We didn't have money on us, but we wanted to go to a coffee

  651. shop. And that's when coffee Day

  652. began. We were so driven by what we

  653. were being, what we were consuming.

  654. What we meditated on became a mantra.

  655. It became the lifestyle choice, the way we dressed.

  656. We wanted haircuts like the actors.

  657. It was because of what we were consuming.

  658. What are you and I consuming today?

  659. Are we meditating and chewing on God's word?

  660. You look at cows, they chew the cud.

  661. They're chewing and chewing and chewing.

  662. It's constantly in their mouth. And I believe God is calling us,

  663. he says so that you may be careful to do some of us live in

  664. this worry of I know God's word. We're not actually living it

  665. out. Maybe the, the, you know, the

  666. gap is that we are not sitting with the word.

  667. We're not meditating on it. In Revelation 320, you know,

  668. Jesus says, behold, I stand at the door and knock.

  669. If anyone hears and listens and heeds my voice and opens the

  670. door, I will come into him. We'll eat with him and he will

  671. eat with me. Jesus is calling me to a

  672. veritable feast in his presence when I open the word of God

  673. every morning. What I'm technically doing is.

  674. I am entering the the banquet hall and sitting down where

  675. Jesus is already waiting for me. He's sitting there, he's waiting

  676. as I read the Word, as I sit with it, as I allow it to soak

  677. in, as I chew on this one or two scriptures I train myself to

  678. hear from. He says this very clearly.

  679. If anyone hears and listens. The problem is, we find

  680. ourselves at a buffet of God's Word.

  681. I take what I like, I leave what I don't.

  682. And I walk. Away God is calling me to a

  683. banquet where he serves me. He says I know you need this, I

  684. know you like this, but now I want to give you all that is my

  685. treasure trove. And that's what a banquet looks

  686. like. And he's saying he wants to sit

  687. and eat with us. He wants to meet with us.

  688. You need the word to be explained to you by the word.

  689. Jesus is the living Word. Without Him sitting with us and

  690. explaining this, this will just be words.

  691. This could be misconstrued to fit my political understanding.

  692. This could be misconstrued to just stick in my fancy.

  693. But to understand it in the context for which it was

  694. written. For such a time as this, I need

  695. the living Word to explain the written word to me.

  696. When you chew on God's word. He explains things.

  697. To you, He teaches you how to live.

  698. He teaches you how to appropriate it, how to live it

  699. out. I was watching this beautiful

  700. video of a little boy. He in this is somewhere in this

  701. in Central America, and a mission organization is working

  702. there with this tribe, which has so many people, little children

  703. who are born deaf. And so this little child is

  704. finally in this organization. They're fitting him with a

  705. hearing aid and they fit. I think he's just about two or

  706. three years old. He has never heard people's

  707. voices clearly. In fact, when they put him in

  708. play school, he was shunned by other kids.

  709. Teachers had called him restless and you know, they had.

  710. They call them all kinds of things and say, you know what we

  711. can't handle and we can't do anything.

  712. And he'd grown. Then when he first came to the

  713. place, he was just about 3 or 4, two or three.

  714. But then as he grew and they started fitting him for the

  715. hearing aid, around 5 or 6, they fitted him with this hearing aid

  716. and the joy on his face when he could hear the doctor and his

  717. parents voices. And not just that, the doctor

  718. would had actually forged a bond.

  719. And she had heard the struggle he was having at school.

  720. She had heard how he had been bullied.

  721. She had heard how teachers had written him off, called him

  722. stupid, called him dumb. And the first thing she said to

  723. him was this, which was very interesting.

  724. She said you are loved by God, you are intelligent, you are a

  725. good boy. Three things that she says to

  726. him. First words that he hears

  727. clearly, tears running down his face.

  728. He hugs this teacher, hugs his parents, goes back to school.

  729. She meets him a couple of months on and years later sees a steady

  730. increase in his ability, social interaction.

  731. All because he could hear again. All because he was able to

  732. concentrate on what was being said.

  733. Too many of us have been listening to the negative voices

  734. of the muffled hearing we have. We've gotten used to it.

  735. I, I, I hear God's word, but my childhood voices are louder.

  736. The rejection sounds louder, the orphanness sounds louder, the

  737. abuse sounds louder, the trauma sounds louder.

  738. And so the voice of God is still so dim and diminished, but God

  739. is saying, Hey, I want you to better hear my voice.

  740. And for that you need to chew on my word issue, on his word,

  741. dwell in it so that your hearing is tuned to the voice of God.

  742. This new season is going to require us to listen to the

  743. audible voice of God. God is going to speak to you.

  744. He's going to speak to you about your marriage.

  745. He's going to speak to you about your health.

  746. He's going to speak to you about your children.

  747. He's going to speak to you about your future.

  748. He's going to speak to you about your job.

  749. He's going to speak to you about those things that you have

  750. dreamt of pioneering and yet haven't seen the light of day.

  751. He's going to dream. He's going to talk to you about

  752. dreams that you've had. What if you miss it because you

  753. don't know how to identify his voice?

  754. His voice always sounds in line. With His word.

  755. So if you haven't been meditating on His word, you

  756. could miss it. You could miss it.

  757. And I, for one, don't want to miss His voice.

  758. I don't want to miss the time when He's speaking to me to

  759. catch what he's saying. So as you arise, as you are

  760. bold, as you chew on God's Word, He is going to surround you with

  761. people. If you look at this, this was 2

  762. 1/2 tribes that had already got their inheritance.

  763. But Joshua was saying, hey, you guys made a promise to Moses

  764. that you will settle your families, but you will come with

  765. us to reclaim the land on the other side.

  766. And these guys say, we're with you all the way.

  767. God is going to bring you people for the new season who will

  768. rally around you, who will come around you and say we are with

  769. you. We're going to pray you through.

  770. We're going to see you through. God is going to bring those who

  771. will confirm his word to you. I love that.

  772. Everything God said to them, they they said only be strong

  773. and courageous. They were confirming what God

  774. had already spoken. How much it must have cheered

  775. Josh. Joshua's hard to go.

  776. I didn't mishear God. I didn't mishear God.

  777. God is going to bring people who will confirm God's word to you.

  778. They're all He's also going to bring people who are going to

  779. help you. Take the land.

  780. Because let's face it, taking the land was not a solo man's

  781. job. It wasn't Joshua's job alone.

  782. He had an army with him. They did everything together.

  783. The priests were helping the people who are helping artisans.

  784. Everyone. It takes a village is true.

  785. To take the land. You will need your people.

  786. God's going to bring them in. As we close, I just want to read

  787. from Isaiah 43. You know, many times we read the

  788. scripture, Isaiah 43. We're going to read from verse

  789. 15, 15 to 20. As we read that, I want to just

  790. give you an indication of what this season is going to look

  791. like. He says I am the Lord, your Holy

  792. One, Israel's Creator, your King.

  793. This is what the Lord says. He who made a way through the

  794. sea, a path through the mighty waters, who drew out the

  795. Chariots and horses, the army and reinforcements together, and

  796. they lay there never to rise again, extinguished, snuffed out

  797. like a wig. Forget the former things.

  798. Do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing now.

  799. It springs up. Do you not perceive it?

  800. I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the

  801. wasteland. This is our God.

  802. This is our God. And this is what he's leading us

  803. into. I love in the NLT, it says the

  804. title says the Lord's promise of victory.

  805. And for those of you who are wondering, this new season, is

  806. it going to be a season of defeat?

  807. No, it's going to be a season of victory because you have God

  808. with you. You have Jesus with you.

  809. But here's the thing, he says it's important.

  810. Like forget the former things. Do not dwell on the past.

  811. The way we remember the past matters.

  812. The way we release the past matters so that we can actually

  813. step into the new thing. God is calling when he goes into

  814. the new season. Joshua doesn't have the benefit

  815. of sitting and mulling over the good times with Moses.

  816. He doesn't have time to think, oh wow, what a good leader Moses

  817. was. I miss him.

  818. He didn't have time. He was on mission.

  819. He had to take land, distribute it, and then he would enter his

  820. rest. So for many of us, we're in a

  821. season when we're still living in the past and therefore

  822. stepping into the new fields too much like too much of work.

  823. But the command to us is forget the former things.

  824. In NLT it says forget all that, all that.

  825. It is nothing compared. To what I am going to do, for

  826. I'm about to do something new. See, I have already begun.

  827. Do you not see it? I will make a pathway in the

  828. wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry

  829. wasteland. God is calling you and me to

  830. remember the past. Yes, but how do you and I

  831. remember the past? You know I have a problem when I

  832. look at the past I have. Two hugely different ways of

  833. looking. Either I look at it and look at

  834. all the terrible things that happened and look at it like a

  835. victim. Oh, I was a victim of those

  836. circumstances, those terrible things that happened.

  837. Oh, what a hard season. Or my other extreme is to say I

  838. came out on top. It was amazing the way I had

  839. grit, I had courage, I had, you know, the strength.

  840. Both of these ways of looking at it turns out are not the best

  841. way to look at it. Reason being, if you look at the

  842. NLT, it's very clear I won't reel from NLT.

  843. It says I am the Lord, your holy one.

  844. OK, I am the Lord who opened away.

  845. I called forth the mighty army of Egypt.

  846. I drew them beneath the waves. Who's the focus on?

  847. It's on God. It's on what God did.

  848. It's easy to look back at our past and just look at the

  849. terrible tragedy of things that happened.

  850. Or I can choose to look at the tragedy closer and find God's

  851. hand in it. I can also look at the way I

  852. walked through it with strength, with boldness, and not make it

  853. about me, but about God. God, it was you who extinguish

  854. that enemy. Lord, it was you who made the

  855. the seas part. It wasn't me.

  856. Yes, I walked through on dry ground because you enabled me to

  857. see that day. Our problem is that many times

  858. we make ourselves the victim or the victor.

  859. When God is the hero of our past.

  860. He's the hero of the story and the way we remember it is very

  861. important. Why do I say this?

  862. Why do I say this? I noticed from my life, when

  863. I've looked at the past through the lens of me being a victim, I

  864. feel powerless to look into the future.

  865. When I look at the past as me being the victor, I look at the

  866. future and think, what if I fail in the future?

  867. What if I'm not as strong in the future?

  868. What if I can't withstand it like I did?

  869. Then I can't be the hero of my own story.

  870. Because I'm so frail and so weak, I have not arrived.

  871. But when I look at the past through the lens of Jesus and

  872. say, Oh my God, I went through that traumatic and incident, but

  873. Jesus, how you redeemed it? God, how you walked with me

  874. through that grief. Lord, how you walked with us

  875. during that difficult time when I changed the lens, how it

  876. changes everything. So then I look at the future and

  877. I remember how I didn't collapse in that season because God was

  878. literally holding me up. I didn't give up because God,

  879. you strengthened me with your word.

  880. You strengthened me through your people.

  881. Then will I look at the future? I have so much faith because the

  882. one who led me then will lead me again.

  883. I look at the back at the back story of this and I think, wow,

  884. if He held me up, then He will hold me up again.

  885. How I remember is important, but this is the thing.

  886. You remember it, you release it because now it's going to happen

  887. differently. The way God is going to work

  888. things out is going to look different.

  889. It's not going to be the same as before.

  890. It's going to look different. He's going to make pathways for

  891. you that you have not seen possible that you've not

  892. imagined. How you remember the past will

  893. dictate how you look at the future, Jesus says in Revelation

  894. 21, Five, He says, the one seated on the throne says, see,

  895. I am making all things new. He is making all things new.

  896. New means better than before. He's restoring it to such a

  897. place. It's going to be better than

  898. before. Your marriage, Should you stay,

  899. should you put the hard yards in, is going to be better than

  900. before. The children you've been waiting

  901. for will come. It's going to be better than you

  902. imagined it might be through a route you didn't picture.

  903. God is going to take you into new frontiers where all dreams

  904. are going to be revived and the way he unfolds it is going to be

  905. so different, so unique to you. Many times our discouragement is

  906. because we plan our miracles, we plan how the breakthrough should

  907. happen, but God is going to demolish those plans and do

  908. something way better. It's going to blow your mind.

  909. No mind has seen, no ear has has heard what God has conceived for

  910. you, what God has planned for you and me.

  911. It's going to be so amazing, but it requires that you arise.

  912. It requires that you be bold. It requires that you chew on

  913. God's Word so that you hear him and take the land.

  914. I'm believing for us that God is taking us into a season of

  915. increase. For some of us, it's going to be

  916. a shedding of old routines and old paradigms and stepping into

  917. new rhythms. Matthew 1128 to 30.

  918. If you read it in the message, he says, I will take you in the

  919. rhythms of grace. You're not going to be running

  920. around like a headless chicken saying you're busy.

  921. You're going to find time to rest and enjoy God.

  922. For many it's going to be a season of increase.

  923. Like I said, Isaiah 54 where he he talks to the woman, he says

  924. barren woman who's not given birth.

  925. Stretch wide, your tense. He's going to stretch wide those

  926. tents. For some it's going to be a

  927. season of surprises. He's going to do things that you

  928. didn't picture. Things are going to get shifted.

  929. You won't have time to even prepare, but it's just going to

  930. happen. In Amos 9 it talks about the

  931. hills flowing with wine. It talks about the ploughman

  932. beating the Reaper beating the planter.

  933. There's going to be things happening.

  934. So far as message version says, your head is going to swim.

  935. God is going to do these things. For many.

  936. It's going to be a season of new wine and new wineskins.

  937. Many times God is doing something new.

  938. But I want to do, you know, hold it in the old wine skin of my

  939. tradition, my methods, what works for me.

  940. God is saying I don't need the old wineskin, I'm doing

  941. something new. New wine needs new wineskins.

  942. You're going to overhaul things. For many, you're going to see

  943. new things in God's Word that you didn't see before, new

  944. treasures amidst the old. Matthew 1352 talks about that,

  945. that the teachers would bring out new treasures amidst the

  946. old, that God would give you the ability to see new things for

  947. many. And I believe this, that we're

  948. going to be the channels of bringing many into the Kingdom

  949. where they will experience a new creation that is in.

  950. Christ. The old is gone, the newest come

  951. second Corinthians 517. God is going to do something

  952. new. But how ready are you?

  953. Are you still lying down on that bed of depression?

  954. Are you lying down in that bed of discouragement and saying I

  955. can't get up, I can't do anything?

  956. I haven't seen God, but I want to encourage you to start

  957. looking at your past. Change the lens.

  958. When you go to an optometrist shop, they first put that

  959. wireframe. You look like a bug eyed person

  960. and then they start fitting in the lens.

  961. And you know what? Sometimes they give you 2

  962. powers. They try it on and they say is

  963. this OK? Or they remove it and they put

  964. another set of lens and is this better?

  965. For many of us, we have the right lens on but we don't know

  966. whether we're looking at good or better.

  967. God wants to give you what's better, but you need to change

  968. the lens. How are you looking at the past?

  969. Is it through the? Victim mentality, of all the

  970. things that you went through, is it at a victim mentality where

  971. you think you were the hero of that story?

  972. Would you pivot and say, Lord, I want to see you in that story.

  973. Show me where you were present in that story.

  974. Once you have remembered, want you to let it go and be ready

  975. for what it's coming. God has a plan that is going to

  976. blow our minds. Can I just pray for you?

  977. Mother, I just thank you so much for what You are doing in our

  978. lives. We are so grateful, Lord, for

  979. all that you've done in the past.

  980. Every story has had purpose. Every barricade and obstacle we

  981. faced had a purpose called. You have redeemed and are

  982. redeeming things. Help us to remember it right so

  983. that we can release it and step into the new.

  984. Father, I pray for those who've been slumbering for too long,

  985. those who have been sleeping on the job, those who have been so

  986. discouraged they haven't been able to lift the head and stand

  987. in guard. I pray right now that they would

  988. arise. They would arise and let their

  989. light shine. Father, I pray for those who

  990. have been cats on the wall for too long.

  991. They haven't been bold about their faith.

  992. They haven't been bold in battle.

  993. God, they have turned away. Father, I pray that today they

  994. would rise up and courage. The righteous are as bold as a

  995. lion. They would be like lions.

  996. Or Father, unwilling to let go of the promise till they see it

  997. fulfilled. Unwilling Lord to stand in

  998. defeat but a step forward in victory.

  999. Father, I pray for those who need help to chew on your word.

1000. I pray for a love for your word to be deposited and those

1001. watching right now. I pray for those in the service

1002. that Lord, a deep love for your Word, a deep love for your

1003. voice. Once we hear it, Lord, there's

1004. no turning back. I pray for.

1005. Those who used to hear your voice but have completely gone

1006. deaf right now spiritually, I pray that you would open deaf

1007. ears so that they would hear your voice and they would be led

1008. by you and you alone. We cover ourselves with your

1009. precious blood. Lead us, guide us and go before

1010. us into this new season. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

1011. Amen. Just want to wish you an amazing

1012. week ahead, that God would really speak to you from what we

1013. have spoken. That God would show you what it

1014. is that you have to take possession of.

1015. What is the land you must stand on, Stake your claim and say

1016. this is given to me by Jesus, this is mine.

1017. As you go into this week, I want to remind you of this that

1018. whoever finds Jesus. Minds, Life, God bless you.
