  1. We welcome you to the We Are Zion sermon podcast.

  2. We are a church based out of Chennai, India.

  3. We are thrilled that you tuned in today and hope that you will

  4. be refreshed, revived, and energized by what you hear.

  5. Our desire is that you will live life with a renewed sense of

  6. purpose that stems from a vibrant faith in Jesus.

  7. This summer we are going deeper into heartwarming movies to find

  8. gospel gems and Kingdom truths for our everyday life.

  9. As you listen in, we hope that through these familiar

  10. characters and sweet stories, you have a fresh revelation of

  11. the victorious life we have in Christ.

  12. The sermon title for today is called Learning Mode Activated.

  13. How many of you feel like you're placed in a place like that and

  14. you're completely clueless? All those who are working, how

  15. many of you feel suddenly the workplace you went to look

  16. familiar and now with AI and everything, it feels uncharted

  17. territory. Some of us probably feels a

  18. Homer like that. We need to learn.

  19. How many feel like your marriages need learning more

  20. activated by the laughs of it? I'm guessing all of us are there

  21. that same place. So one of the things that we see

  22. in this is he's sent into that environment.

  23. He's unable to communicate, He's unable to do what he's required

  24. to. He seems useless.

  25. And there's a mode that he goes into activate himself.

  26. And now as I was preparing the summon, I just felt like, God,

  27. we're always in learning mode when it comes to your word.

  28. What what more is there, God, for us to learn?

  29. But I felt that we have resistant many a times to

  30. learning. Like every Sunday we seem to be

  31. hearing God's word, yet we feel like we lack faith.

  32. How many of you feel that we hear keep hearing God's word?

  33. We also struggle to get away from that sin pattern.

  34. How many of you we are hearing God's word, but yet we fail to

  35. become doers of God's Word. How many of you feel that?

  36. And so today, as we look into this, I just want us to come to

  37. a place of a renewed understanding that we're going

  38. to learn no matter what age group.

  39. Is that a settling thought? Some of you might be thinking,

  40. man, only if I can get over college, I'm done.

  41. I don't have to study. But you'll be surprised how much

  42. you're to study after getting into work because if you want to

  43. climb up the ladder, you need to write that certification course.

  44. You have to do this, you have to do that.

  45. There's always learning. So I pray and ask that as we

  46. move into a different spheres, the more older you get, the more

  47. you have to learn. Just imagine your grandparents.

  48. They lived at a time where, you know, it's always baffles me

  49. where the phone was something very distant.

  50. It was never in their house. You have to go place a call

  51. trunk call. You have to go there.

  52. There are you used to talk exactly to the minute, because

  53. the minute it crosses over that you have to pay for the next,

  54. next bracket, the pay bracket, you have to pay.

  55. They've shifted all through that.

  56. And today suddenly they're doing, if they're doing UPI,

  57. just imagine they don't have to go and take that passbook.

  58. That's the bane of that, that era.

  59. They have to get the passbook updated.

  60. How many of you had grandparents who said that?

  61. And I have to go to the bank today.

  62. I have to get my passbook updated.

  63. So learning mode is there throughout our life.

  64. As long as we're living in this world, as long as we're not

  65. building a Tower of Babel, learning mode is there.

  66. The minute we build a Tower of Babel, we can be assured we're

  67. not learning anything. We are so full of puzzles.

  68. So one of the verses I wanted to like, just keep as our keywords

  69. was from Proverbs 19 eight. The one who gets wisdom loves

  70. life. The one who cherishes

  71. understanding will soon prosper. In fact, in the passion, it says

  72. this, do yourself a favour and love wisdom.

  73. Learn all you can then watch your life flourish and prosper.

  74. You know, a lot of times, especially in the Christian

  75. world. On Thursday, I was part of

  76. pastors group and as we were, it was a luncheon meeting and as we

  77. were there, one of the pastors was was concluding a meeting.

  78. He ended up praying Lord, we thank you.

  79. We believe you're seated on the throne.

  80. We believe you will establish the right government.

  81. We thank you for the new government.

  82. And he told that and he finished it and came then all the other

  83. pastors are like, I thought we are praying for the existing

  84. government to continue. What is this new government?

  85. And he just realized how that one syllable can and change the

  86. entire narrative, you know? And so today I want us to be in

  87. a place, whoever God seats, whatever happens in my career,

  88. whatever happens even in life, you know, for those of you who

  89. are seated here, we've been through COVID, so now we can go

  90. through anything. LPG shortage, yes, it's getting

  91. worse. We think the war is going to get

  92. over. It's not getting over.

  93. There's confusion in the world. Through all of that, God will

  94. enable us to continuously keep learning and applying what He's

  95. asking us to learn. And so today, as we look into

  96. our own lives, if learning mode is activated in our life, we

  97. can't have too much of God. We can't have too much of His

  98. promises. We can't have too much of

  99. something of Him that sustains us.

  100. So I pray that we'll come to a place of realizing.

  101. God help me change my perspective.

  102. How many of your first culture generation you've been brought

  103. up in the city, you've stayed in the city, you got married in the

  104. city, you're doing your life in the city.

  105. How many of you are there like that?

  106. OK, a few of you are there like that.

  107. How many of you are second culture where you're from

  108. another city that you moved within the state and you've come

  109. here, That's second culture. How many of you are third

  110. culture kid? Your father and mother from

  111. different states. You were born brought up in a

  112. different state and we have here, we have a couple of you

  113. here. The learning mode that we have

  114. to walk through is one of third culture.

  115. And when I was just reading through that phrase, third

  116. culture, it it it talked about those who've spent a significant

  117. part of their formative years outside their parents passport

  118. cultures in an identity formed by blending elements of the

  119. birth culture, adopted culture and a unique shared third

  120. culture. And so as I was reading through,

  121. I was just looking through what are some of the culture elements

  122. that we as Christians have to follow?

  123. And I know which culture you're still stuck at.

  124. If it's a first culture, all of us are born into this world.

  125. How many of you agree? Irrespective of whatever, let's

  126. say religion background or whatever faith background you're

  127. coming from, you're all born into this world.

  128. Can we agree to that? Yes.

  129. And so that is our first. The second culture is where we

  130. actually in the world, we start realizing that is right and

  131. wrong. How many of you if we've not

  132. come to that place of understanding between right and

  133. wrong, everything is warped. Like for example, today morning

  134. we the question was asked and I used should we pay taxes to the

  135. government? Yes or no?

  136. It's not laughing. A lot of you are laughing.

  137. Yeah. The the whole there will be

  138. holes in the roads. Do we still pay taxes?

  139. Yes. So there is there is certain

  140. definite things like is abuse right or wrong?

  141. So can you see the there's a definite understanding of the

  142. second culture. We are making decisions

  143. irrespective of our faith. How many of you know that those

  144. who don't, there are so many who don't follow Christ yet are

  145. living lives of integrity. There are so many who don't even

  146. follow Jesus and yet are doing the right things.

  147. During COVID, one of the first responders to give food and aid.

  148. They, when you look into the thing in our country was, was

  149. the Jain community and the Sikh community, people have already

  150. been doing good for them. Doing good was just an extension

  151. with respect of what was currently happening.

  152. And so in the second culture, the third culture is where we

  153. realize that we are aware of sin, but salvation is at work.

  154. And suddenly you're put into all these three different cultures

  155. to go and live out your faith. Once you realize what Jesus has

  156. done for your life, he's not saying, hey, go live in a silo,

  157. live in a world. No, he's putting you out there.

  158. He's saying go back into the world.

  159. You came now put this into practice.

  160. And that's what I wanted to draw our attention to because a lot

  161. of us are struggling in between these four walls on a Sunday and

  162. struggling to be our being what crisis called as in our third

  163. culture between a Monday to a Saturday.

  164. How many of you say it's a hard struggle?

  165. Lot of us if you have a bad boss, it's worse if you're

  166. having a person who's making you compromise certain positions.

  167. It's hard if you're if you're if you're not put in an environment

  168. where you can, but God will test your faith.

  169. He will put you in situations where you will have to trust him

  170. alone for this. And so today, whether it's

  171. inherited first generation or growing in learning mode, we'll

  172. need to understand that these three perspectives that we are

  173. in the world, we are aware of sin and because of salvation,

  174. God's continuously renewing us. So he goes back in to all these

  175. different formats and the suddenly you'll see one thing

  176. we've been talking is God will take you into society back to

  177. change one aspect of society. The problem is we've so in tuned

  178. in our education system to do that one thing that will bring

  179. success. How many of you took CSE in your

  180. engineering because CSE was the hot thing or did or took ECE?

  181. When I was in engineering, ECE was the hot kick like you should

  182. take ECE. Why?

  183. Because we suddenly see, hey, if this is the road that everyone

  184. is going, this is where success is, But God will soon his

  185. learning mode in your life and it gets activated will be for a

  186. specific thing in the society that God's wanting you to

  187. change. That is your plan and purpose.

  188. One of the things we had in our BBS thing on Thursday, they had

  189. something called this dream station.

  190. Circle of Dreams and dreams. OK, makes sense.

  191. Yeah. Circle of dreams and, and one of

  192. the things they, they were teaching them, in fact, when we

  193. thought about that session, they were saying earlier on we had

  194. done it differently. But as they were planning, they

  195. realized kids aren't dreaming anymore.

  196. And today with with all that's happening with with such well

  197. informed machine language and all that all that is good, but

  198. God wants the God depose a dream that he's put on your heart for

  199. you to follow as you grow older, because that's where he'll be

  200. able to see his glory come through far bigger than what

  201. you've imagined. And so today three things I

  202. wanted to post before I will give before you when my learning

  203. mode is activated, because that's a struggle.

  204. All of us are learning. If I have to tell you if home,

  205. if you've actually taken learning as a challenge because

  206. of your ego is hurt. All of how many of you because

  207. that person said that I will learn that and go and show.

  208. No, we've we've all had that. The how many of you've taken

  209. cooking like that as a challenge?

  210. Lot, lot, lot of, lot of us are there in that space.

  211. But as I'm, as we are in this learning mode activation, I

  212. believe a lot of us are unable to put what we are called, what

  213. we are learning into practice. And so that's what I wanted to

  214. draw attention to the environments that God has placed

  215. us in. So the first one is we need to

  216. be poised in our reality during learning mode, poised in our

  217. reality. How many of you are fluttering

  218. in our in your reality today? How many are feeling jittery in

  219. your reality? If the Prince of Peace is with

  220. us, he will give us a place of calmness and realise what a

  221. reality is, whatever that situation is.

  222. And if that situation lacks something such as courage,

  223. strength, patience, endurance, he'll give that.

  224. He'll give that. When I was just going through

  225. the meaning of poise, it says calm, confidence in a person's

  226. way of behaving, ready to move or prepared and waiting for

  227. something to happen. So as you keep learning, God

  228. does the inner work in you. He changes your spirit alignment

  229. entirely. You suddenly aren't shaky.

  230. You suddenly are on firm foundation, firm footing.

  231. And so today when we see in this entire situation when Raw's the

  232. robot, you know, it's funny to say I'm taking an example of a

  233. robot. But when that robot has learnt

  234. the external circumstances, it's comfortable in the reality that

  235. it's placed in. And I want to ask you today, are

  236. you comfortable in the reality that God's placed you in?

  237. You might be thinking, Yeshua, mine is a outcome of certain bad

  238. choices, but God saying, no, I'm still, I'm the one who's writing

  239. your story. I'm not done with you yet.

  240. I'm still working in you to take the story to a better place.

  241. Would you be calm in this reality?

  242. And I want us to draw our attention to the life of Samuel

  243. from one Samuel chapter 1 was a 17 to 28.

  244. And this is Samuel's mother. In fact, we'll spend the time

  245. reflecting on Anna's life because Hannah seems when you

  246. look at the story, El Kana is the name.

  247. Yeah, El Kana had two wives. And now that's not a teaching

  248. that we're doing in church where you go for your second spouse.

  249. No, but in this biblical character, he happened to have

  250. two wives. Hannah was the 1st and then a

  251. second, and then the second had children.

  252. And so she's barren in this time and she's going to at the yearly

  253. visit as they go to the temple. She's she's poised in a reality

  254. in the sense she doesn't have what she has, but she knows

  255. where she can take it to. And so that's where I want us to

  256. draw our attention to one Samuel 1 was a 17 to 28.

  257. This is where she's prayed. And then Eli the priest answers

  258. and says, Eli answered, go in peace.

  259. And may the God of Israel grant you what you have asked of Him,

  260. she said, May your servant find favour in your eyes.

  261. Then she went her way and ate something, and her face was no

  262. longer downcast. Early the next morning they

  263. arose and worshipped before the Lord and then went back to their

  264. home at Rama al Khanna made love to his wife Hannah, and the Lord

  265. remembered her. If you can underline that word

  266. line, if you have all this, mark that the Lord remembered her.

  267. So in the course of time, Hannah became pregnant and gave birth

  268. to a son. She named him Samuel Singh

  269. because I asked the Lord for him.

  270. When her husband Elkanah went up with all his family to offer the

  271. annual sacrifice of the Lord and to fulfill his vow, Hannah did

  272. not go. She said to her husband after

  273. the boys weaned, I will take him and present him before the Lord

  274. and He will live there always. Do what seems best to you.

  275. Her husband Elkanah told her, stay here until you have weaned

  276. him only may the Lord make good his word.

  277. So the women stayed at home and nursed her son until she had

  278. weaned him. After he was weaned, she took

  279. the boy with her, young as he was, along with the three-year

  280. old bull, an ephah of flour and a skin of wine, and brought him

  281. to the House of the Lord at Shiloh.

  282. When the bull had been sacrificed, they brought the boy

  283. to Eli and said to him, Pardon me, my Lord, as surely as you

  284. live, I am the woman who stood here beside you, praying to the

  285. Lord. I prayed for his child, for this

  286. child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him.

  287. So now I give him to the Lord. For his whole life he will be

  288. given over to the Lord. And he worshipped the Lord

  289. there. And every mother is like, why

  290. would she do something like this, giving up the child

  291. entirely to the Lord? And so there are two things

  292. which I wanted to ask is when we are poised in our reality, we

  293. will realize what we are asking of God and we'll be obedient to

  294. what He's calling us to do when we are poised, when we are

  295. poised. And so that's it's interesting

  296. that when she made that prayer, the only affirmation she got at

  297. that time was from the priest who was there who was saying go

  298. and made be granted. And if you look at her, she knew

  299. that what she what she bought, what burden she carried, she

  300. left it at the feet of the Lord and she walked out of that, not

  301. with the burden of that what she's left.

  302. She walked out and was normal with what God had called her to

  303. do her purpose. It says that clearly early next

  304. she went, she ate and her face would no longer downcast.

  305. There was a certain amount of peace that resonated that God

  306. had hurt her. Early the next morning they rose

  307. up before the Lord went back to home and she continued on the

  308. life and God remembered her and blessed her.

  309. And so today I would ask you because am I pulling back of

  310. things because God has not come through or am I continuing to do

  311. sing God. You will do it in your perfect

  312. time, whatever that looks like, whatever that looks like,

  313. because many a times the miracle something like this.

  314. What she had asked was to leave the boy in the House of the Lord

  315. and imagine there's no you don't read of any conflict going on

  316. here. Alkana knew this was God-given

  317. and she knew if the mothers decided I'll go with that.

  318. There's a lot of wisdom that will come when we seek, when our

  319. learning mode is activated from God's Word.

  320. If you've been struggling, if as a couple, if you're struggling

  321. with the decision, let God allow God to come in.

  322. I love God to have him because he's the one who's brought you

  323. together. He's the third one who's united

  324. you like a court that cannot be broken.

  325. Consult him. Consult him and you will see

  326. things taking shape the very fear that a that a parent might

  327. have the other person will have faith for what that God will

  328. take care. And so in a situation like this,

  329. what what do we see? We see that God when you look at

  330. the grand scheme in the in the bigger story, God had started

  331. raised up Samuel to actually lead Israel and this is the back

  332. story of him. So we don't know how the story

  333. is going to turn out today. May we realize that in our

  334. position that God's placed as when we are continuously putting

  335. what we're learning to practice, He will keep us in a place of

  336. calmness to realize this is what I am calling you to do.

  337. I am calling. It's interesting when you read

  338. the next chapter. She sings a song of praise and

  339. it goes on to say, my heart rejoices in the Lord, in the

  340. Lord. My horn is lifted high.

  341. My mouth boasts over my enemies for a delight in your

  342. deliverance. There is no one holy like the

  343. Lord. There is no one besides you.

  344. There is no rock like our God. Her exclamation is the one who

  345. provided her her Son. And imagine this, that as this

  346. is happening, she is giving praise to who has come through.

  347. He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash

  348. heap. He seats them with Princess and

  349. has them inherit a throne of honor.

  350. She didn't even know that the one who she had borne will be

  351. actually anointing. Kings will be actually in

  352. courtrooms because till then there were only judges.

  353. So I pray and ask that when God is calling you to learn and walk

  354. in that you will be in a posture of utter calmness today.

  355. The world will tell you that you don't have to be, that things

  356. aren't going as per your time. How many think there's a world

  357. you're, you're following either God's timeline or the world's

  358. timeline? The the world's timeline is

  359. really wonky. It gives you a false sense.

  360. I don't know how many of you have, I think I've talked about

  361. this earlier. They talk about this this much.

  362. If you have, you can retire at 40.

  363. How many of you have seen those YouTube videos or probably are

  364. following some finance with someone?

  365. Or this if you, you might think, oh, if I can just retire that

  366. much. We don't know.

  367. Our storehouses can't be, can't determine what God has in store

  368. for us. If there's one thing I've learnt

  369. about storehouses is the fact that every season God wants to

  370. empty our storehouses so he can fill it so that that's what is

  371. in the storehouse is fresh. How many of you buy actually

  372. have the habit of turning and buying, looking at the expiry

  373. date before buying? Few of you, some of you we

  374. don't. Some of us in our house, we we

  375. the other day we were using the tomato ketchup.

  376. We didn't realize and then someone said it's tasting of we

  377. saw it was like past six months, you know, and so, so then we

  378. realized we have to buy a new ketchup.

  379. So many a times we are we are the timeline that we are in are

  380. in. There's a running joke in our

  381. family, especially my brother and my brother-in-law when we

  382. early on married, they said hey, just be careful in their house.

  383. You don't know what all is expired because you know

  384. whatever you're taking from the kitchen.

  385. It was that bad. The more the more we actually

  386. look at what when God comes through, we realize we're on a

  387. heavenly timeline. There's a heavenly timeline.

  388. So for those of you who are still single, pray and ask God

  389. that right person will come in. Don't lose hope.

  390. Don't look at your neighbor and think, oh, how did she get

  391. married or how did he get married?

  392. Ask God. God, let me have faith, give me

  393. discernment. Today we can be having every

  394. information possible in front of us.

  395. For those of us especially who are who are married, ask God

  396. early on, God, what is the plan for our marriage?

  397. As much as, yes, you want to get a house, you want to get a car,

  398. you want to do an international holiday, you want to do all

  399. that, don't subscribe to the timeline of the world.

  400. Subscribe to God's timeline because you don't know how it'll

  401. end. It'll be fruitful.

  402. Fruitful doesn't tell you the quantity of how much that tree

  403. will bear. It'll keep bearing.

  404. And so when you see here, when you see Hannah giving praise,

  405. what will happen? It says in verse 9, he will

  406. guard the feet of his faithful servant, but the wicked will be

  407. silenced in the place of darkness.

  408. It's not by strength that one prevails.

  409. Those who oppose the Lord will be broken.

  410. The Most High will Thunder from heaven.

  411. The Lord will judge the ends of the earth.

  412. He will give strength to his King and exalt the horn of his

  413. anointed. And so when we see here what we

  414. sing, praise to God is very important.

  415. Even as Tabita LED worship today, I was just thinking, God,

  416. what a privilege for us to come here and exalt you in our own

  417. words, in our own language, in our own circumstances.

  418. Each and everyone of our circumstance is so unique.

  419. Lot of us don't have everything going.

  420. But Lord, in the midst of this, I can still choose to lift you

  421. up. One of the deepest

  422. encouragements for as I was serving this VBS was to see

  423. across the age group serving the old to the young were serving

  424. and I'm grateful that each one has found the their place to

  425. serve in God's Kingdom. As I mentioned, when we are when

  426. we are poised, when we when we have that calmness in the in

  427. that learning mode and are following what God's asking us,

  428. we will be able to experience God's blessing.

  429. And then it goes on to say in one Samuel 2 verses 18 to 21.

  430. But Samuel was ministering before the Lord a boy wearing a

  431. linen E4 each year his mother made him a little robe and took

  432. it to him when he when she went up with her husband to offer the

  433. annual sacrifice. Eli would bless El Khanna and

  434. his wife saying may the Lord give you the children by this

  435. woman to take the place of the one she prayed for and gave the

  436. Lord then would to the Lord. Then they would go home and the

  437. Lord was gracious to Hannah. She gave birth to three sons and

  438. two daughters. Meanwhile, the boy Samuel grew

  439. up in the presence of the Lord. He didn't grow up with daddy

  440. issues or mommy issues. Just imagine know he grew up in

  441. the in the wholeness from the House of God.

  442. He grew up in a place where there was definitely a lot of

  443. wrong happening. Yet at an early age, God turned

  444. his ears at an early age, he made the leader teach Samuel

  445. what to say. When you read on to the next

  446. passage, it's interesting. He didn't suppress Samuel.

  447. He didn't he didn't push him down.

  448. He he realized God had chosen him to do something through him

  449. that he was literally coaching him was disciple him through

  450. those seasons. And so today I want to ask you

  451. today, is my faith just a mouth utterance or is it really living

  452. out through my existence today? Is faith just a mouth utterance

  453. or is it really today, am I just telling my wife I love her or am

  454. I really behaving like I love her?

  455. Those are two different questions, two different thought

  456. processes today. Do I am, I do I tell my kids I

  457. will look after you and care for you, or I just say that, but I'm

  458. not doing it. And so today in our learning

  459. mode, maybe be really clear that what we believe in should also

  460. be seen in how we conduct ourselves.

  461. Hannah did a couple of things. She participated in what she had

  462. according to a circumstance. She did not sit herself out.

  463. She had every opportunity to tell El Khanna, God has not

  464. blessed me. You go, you go.

  465. She knew if there's only one person who can bless her is God,

  466. so she chose to be there. So I pray and ask that in your

  467. learning mode, don't sit yourself out.

  468. Please keep coming back to God's house.

  469. It's in this you will see what God wants you to really take on

  470. for your life. Participating is showing up.

  471. Don't hide behind what has happened in the past.

  472. Don't hide behind. But you know what this is?

  473. This is my family history. No, you're not called to live

  474. history out. You're called to live out this

  475. new creation. That's who are who you are in

  476. Christ Jesus. Second thing we learned from

  477. Anna's life is when learning modus, you need to be careful of

  478. where you're pouring your grievances.

  479. How many of you have that one friend who you can tell

  480. everything? I hope it's your spouse, but I

  481. would say that it's not if you don't have a spouse, if you're a

  482. single person, I understand. But many times today we're

  483. living in a world which is telling us go give, talk your

  484. grievances. The only person if you're in

  485. Christ, who'll understand your grievances is Christ.

  486. That's where you can pour your heart out.

  487. Tell him everything that I was listening to a podcast this week

  488. as I was driving for that meeting, which I mentioned and

  489. the speaker was talking and saying post COVID lot of pastors

  490. will come and say this week I sat with my counselor and this

  491. is what happened and everything. And she said, you know what?

  492. We've come to a place of glorifying someone in the

  493. physical that we forget that we have the spiritual director with

  494. us. We forget we don't.

  495. Revelation is good, but revelation doesn't dictate where

  496. I'm heading. The spiritual guy director

  497. dictates where be informed of what you're feeling, but let not

  498. that be 1 which dictates you. And so as she was saying that, I

  499. realized many a times if we don't give room for the Holy

  500. Spirit, because the Holy Spirit will tell us to take that step

  501. where there is where there there may not even be a step and that

  502. is faith. He'll say, do this right now for

  503. my glory. And we, he'll say, Geshom, don't

  504. quit your job. Just stay, don't he'll tell

  505. he'll he'll tell. He'll say sometimes be quiet in

  506. this place. I'll fight your battle.

  507. Are we willing to listen to the counsellor who is the Holy

  508. Spirit? And the third thing we see in

  509. her life is with her learning more.

  510. She stuck to a promise. What she told God she did, what

  511. she told God she did. And so today I want to challenge

  512. you church, other things that you've told God that you'll do,

  513. that you refrain from because sometimes the blessing of God

  514. over our lives is at a standstill because we've not

  515. done our part. He's done his part.

  516. And so whatever that looks like to you today, you know, I think

  517. next week is Mother's Day, isn't it?

  518. Yeah. Just imagine Hannah dropping her

  519. child in a temple and coming back just the next time for

  520. sacrifice again, not knowing, trusting God.

  521. But I believe that's where sometimes we have to come to a

  522. place of realizing that God, I will trust you no matter what,

  523. trust you no matter what. When we read from Samuel's life,

  524. it's evident that we need to take God at His word.

  525. Poised is when I can take God at His word.

  526. Voice is where Isaiah 55 when we read it says a lot of us know

  527. this worse For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are

  528. my your ways. My ways declares a lot.

  529. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher

  530. than yours, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

  531. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not

  532. return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and

  533. flourish, so that it will yield seed for the sower and bread for

  534. the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth.

  535. It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I

  536. desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

  537. You will go out and join me LED forth in peace.

  538. The mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and

  539. all the trees of the field will clap their hands.

  540. Instead of the thorn Bush will grow the juniper, and instead of

  541. the briars, the mortal will grow.

  542. This will be for the Lord's renown, for an everlasting sign

  543. that will endure forever. I want to ask you, Church,

  544. today, if you want to give thanks for the big things that

  545. God has to come through, start with what He's already done.

  546. Start with all what he's already done, Hannah to come to a place

  547. of actually starting from her, her Baroness, her, her struggle,

  548. her dryness. That's where she came and she

  549. gave thanks and said, Lord, this is what I'll do.

  550. And I'm sure her praise after that looked different every year

  551. when she went to the temple of the Lord.

  552. So I pray that we will, as you take this verse from Isaiah 55,

  553. go back and think through every plan that you've drawn out for

  554. your life. My thoughts, my ways.

  555. Last week, as Tina was talking, we had this huge thing between,

  556. you know, both of us about our son's college, where he has to

  557. admit as you're talking about it, suddenly the, you know, the

  558. as a couple, you'll know, the equation will suddenly turn

  559. different. The the parenthesis will

  560. suddenly become very enclosed. She suddenly thought, as a

  561. engineering student, I was taking a dig at a art student

  562. and I said, bro, that's not the fight, you know?

  563. But you see, suddenly in our course, we suddenly put brackets

  564. and we suddenly stick ourselves into that and we start.

  565. But then to come to a place in God, we are learning also.

  566. You know, one of the things when I was preparing the sermon, I

  567. was saying God, irrespective of which government comes tomorrow

  568. or which forms, irrespective of whether the FCFCRAS are coming

  569. in or not, Lord help us to be always be in learning more.

  570. God will destabilize everything that we want stabilized here on

  571. this earth. He's coming for us.

  572. He's not coming for the earth. A lot of us are thinking, oh,

  573. he's coming for the building, He's coming for.

  574. No, he's coming for us. We are the ones.

  575. So which means we will always be in that mode of learning,

  576. undoing, leaving, going. There are so many things when

  577. you look in this Christian world, we are building

  578. securities. God saying I am everything for

  579. you. The second thing when we see

  580. when my learning mode is activated is we pivot in the

  581. direction where God is present. The first one, we are poised.

  582. The second, we learn to pivot in the direction where God is

  583. present. How many of you realize you've

  584. pivoted out of Josh and realized God was not there?

  585. Have we? There are circumstances, there

  586. are decisions, split decisions we've made thinking, you know

  587. what? I think this is a God thing.

  588. And we went there and then suddenly we realized God was

  589. absent, but He wanted us to go through that.

  590. But He's asking us, will you also still be learning?

  591. You know, I think I've mentioned the story to you many a * 4

  592. years back before we got this place, we were in meeting in the

  593. party hall and then you want to find a place.

  594. And I still remember we saw the place and it didn't work out.

  595. But quickly I had to realize God, you who's called us is

  596. faithful. I had to pivot in my mind before

  597. I could pivot because a week later I was still starting to

  598. look for places. Tina was like you've gone mad.

  599. We've just lost money here. We've done this isn't worked

  600. out. Why are we looking?

  601. It's it just felt I had to really activate my faith when I

  602. when even when that came God, you told this is a time for us

  603. to move God and you won't believe we moved from there.

  604. We came here a month into it. The service Rd. got extended

  605. because they're building the metro and there wouldn't have

  606. been any parking for us to meet in the Dalita party hall.

  607. God is so good. He wants us to be pivot, which

  608. means he wants us to carry things light.

  609. How many of you pack light? How many of you pack light?

  610. If you pack heavy, you can't pivot.

  611. Your baggage has to come with you.

  612. God saying when you're pivoting your baggage, leave the baggage

  613. there now trust me and come. I'm asking you, Christian life

  614. is hand carry luggage only. You're not sending cargos here.

  615. God's like leave the cargo, move in faith.

  616. I'm your provision, I'm your sustenance, I am your

  617. everything. The second character I wanted to

  618. reflect as I was looking at this is a life of rehab.

  619. What is pivot? Pivot is a central point.

  620. I have are science scientists here.

  621. It's very difficult to give any scientific terms right now, but

  622. pivot is a central point or a pin or a shaft with which a

  623. mechanism turns literally just turns.

  624. It makes a hard turn. So today, what is God asking you

  625. to pivot from? As we read from the life of

  626. rehab, it's interesting Joshua to it starts off the king of

  627. Jericho was told, look, some of the Israelites have come here

  628. tonight to spy out the land. So the king of Jericho sent this

  629. message to rehab bring out the men who came to you and entered

  630. your house because they have come to spy out the whole land.

  631. When you read these first 2 verses, if you're thinking Rehab

  632. was quite an influential person, isn't it for for her name to go

  633. into the courtroom of the king and for king to send word?

  634. But it's interesting here, even though she because of the nature

  635. of her work and the nature that she was doing, she knew what was

  636. happening outside the walls of Jericho.

  637. She was aware because travellers were coming and she knew that

  638. the Jericho won't last longer. It might seem like she was

  639. selfish, but she pivoted towards the God of Israel.

  640. In fact, when you read that, when she's talking to the spice,

  641. before the spice laid on for the night, she went up to the roof

  642. and said to them, I know that the Lord has given you this land

  643. and that a great fear of you has fallen on us, so that all who

  644. live in this country are melting in fear because of you.

  645. We have heard now the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for

  646. you when you came out of Egypt and what you did on Xion and all

  647. the 2 kings of the Amorite east of the Jordan, whom you

  648. completely destroyed. When we heard of it, our hearts

  649. melted in fear and everyone's courage failed because of you.

  650. For the Lord your God in. For the Lord your God is God in

  651. heaven above and on earth below. Now then, please swear to me by

  652. the Lord that you will show kindness to my family, because I

  653. have shown kindness to you. Give me a sure sign that you

  654. will spare the lives of my father and mother, my brothers

  655. and sisters and all who belong to them, and that you will save

  656. us from death our lives. For your lives.

  657. The men assured, if you don't tell what we are doing, we will

  658. treat you kindly and faithfully when the Lord gives us this

  659. land. Rehab had a very short, you

  660. know, a window of opportunity to respond to her occupation

  661. enabled her, enabled her to hear what God was doing and the

  662. stories of victory God gave her. Nature would have been

  663. transactional. That's her inert nature.

  664. Because of what she was doing, everything was transactional.

  665. But here she realized she wasn't about building a Kingdom, it was

  666. about saving her life. It wasn't about making her own

  667. storehouse. It was literally saving her own

  668. future. You see her when she's asking,

  669. she's not asking for just her and her family.

  670. She's asking father, mother, brother, sisters and all who are

  671. with them. Yet in this inadequacy, what was

  672. she actually looking for? She was looking for freedom.

  673. She was looking for freedom because whence imagine she goes

  674. out, She's no longer bound by the laws of these walls.

  675. And so today the pivot that you and I have called to make is 1.

  676. Whether you let go of a baggage there, Jericho walls have to

  677. come down. Your baggage walls have to come

  678. down so you can pivot. What is holding you back today?

  679. What is holding you back today? Church Because if you and I have

  680. to walk into the promises of God is to face every Jericho wall

  681. that's there head on and say it's in crisis.

  682. Come to give me freedom and I'm pivoting towards freedom.

  683. I'm not pivoting towards captivity.

  684. I'm not pivoting towards stronghold.

  685. I'm pivoting to a place of seeing his Kingdom come.

  686. Are we holding back today and making the pivot after we've

  687. heard God, we've heard his word, testimony, everything.

  688. It might seem hard, like when you look at through Joseph's

  689. lens, he had these dreams and the pivot that he had to take

  690. was completely different. But when he came through to the

  691. end, he says, God had prepared me for a time such as this so I

  692. can save an entire nation. And so today you and I can we

  693. realize what is God calling us. It's very comfortable, very

  694. comfortable right when you want to make the pivot, the job offer

  695. will come for you to stay right when we had decided in 2014,

  696. when we had decided God, the next step is for us to go back

  697. to India. We came here, we got trained and

  698. it was hard because the company, the part time job that I was

  699. working for, they said, we, we love you as a video editor.

  700. We would like to sign you up as a full time.

  701. And the thought was, wow, it'll be nice.

  702. We can just settle off here as a family with three kids.

  703. You know that that that conflict is going on.

  704. The wrestle is going on, but God's saying no, I've called

  705. you. And so to do the full cycle, we

  706. came, stayed in service apartment and to end up giving

  707. up the house and then to a week in the service apartment as

  708. you're leaving, we came as four, we're going out as five.

  709. I just realized, God, I will still do this again because what

  710. I was called for was ministry and nothing else.

  711. And so God keeps reminding me time and again, even when when

  712. the business side of it was going through a slump last

  713. couple of months back, God, he told Geshom, I've called you for

  714. ministry and not for making money.

  715. Don't get confused, I'll provide.

  716. Will you trust me for that? And I had to pivot.

  717. There are certain things I don't have to take up as project

  718. because he said I'll provide. Don't calculate.

  719. You don't calculate, trust me. And it's been hard because the

  720. seasons were hard. Dryness is hard.

  721. Looking at the soil, which is not, and not even that small

  722. growth happening is hard. But God saying, will you still

  723. pivot? Will you still show up?

  724. Pivot is all about obedience because it's all about God.

  725. In Philippians it says in 214 to 16, do everything readily and

  726. cheerfully. No bickering, no second

  727. guessing. This part I'm really working on

  728. no bickering and second guessing, guessing.

  729. Tina's laughing because she's the one who gets to hear it.

  730. Go out into the world uncorrupted, A breath of fresh

  731. air in this squalid and polluted society.

  732. Provide people with a glimpse of good living and of the living

  733. God. Carry the light giving message

  734. into the night. So I'll have a good cause to be

  735. proud of you on the day that Christ returns.

  736. You'll be living proof that I didn't go to all this work for

  737. nothing. And the interesting thing about

  738. rehab, she's mentioned in the hall of Faith in Hebrews Chapter

    Hebrews 11:31

  739. 11, verse 31, it says by Faith the prostitute Rehab, because

  740. she welcomed the spice, was not killed with those who are

  741. disobedient. As I was thinking of Rehab's

  742. plight, what she wanted, the freedom after that, it doesn't

  743. talk about her, what she did in terms of her work or anything,

  744. but what the family would have experienced was ultimate freedom

  745. from every captivity. And you and I today, as we

  746. pivot, God is saying you will experience freedom.

  747. And the third thing he's saying is when my learning mode is

  748. activated, will you be persistent toward what God has

  749. called us for a lifetime? Would you be persistent to what

  750. God has called us for a lifetime?

  751. You know, today we have. When you look at these titles

  752. that all these CEOSCFOS and the C-Suite give, it's interesting.

  753. Each C-Suite person thinks they want to come up with something

  754. interesting. They feel like they're solving a

  755. person's world, you know, a world problem.

  756. They call themselves something I know someone will say, I think

  757. one person says he's a gardener. One person says he's something

  758. like the EE, All the chief people, officer, chief, they'll

  759. all come up with different things.

  760. But again, there's a timeline for that.

  761. God's not asking us for that time.

  762. Within that, he's saying, hey, would you be my son and daughter

  763. throughout? Would you be persistent to what

  764. I'm calling you to do? And so today as you and I are

  765. joining in this life, I want to ask you, would we be persistent?

  766. Because when we are persistent, one of the things is it's

  767. difficult to get rid of. Who will actually attack us

  768. most? Satan, he'll be the one who'll

  769. call us out, who'll want to take us out.

  770. If I can only dissuade them with discouragement, their

  771. persistence will change. They'll grumble and then they'll

  772. sit over there. They won't move today.

  773. He's like asking, would you be persistent in everything?

  774. And I want to look in the life of Paul as I talk about this,

  775. because Paul knew why God had actually set him apart, why he

  776. was saved. He was not saved to bring the

  777. gospel as much as he was a Jew. His focus was the Gentile.

  778. And it's interesting as he's doing his entire ministry, his

  779. end objective is to go to Rome. You know, when you read through

  780. the entire book of Acts and all that, it's interesting that his

  781. focus is to go to Rome. And his mission was that to go

  782. there and to take the gospel all the way there.

  783. He knew that was a seat of culture.

  784. And so everywhere he was learning.

  785. Just imagine he they did church planted it, moved on to the next

  786. told God, God takes them. If you read in Acts chapter 13

    Acts 13:46

  787. verse 46, it says then Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and

  788. declared it was necessary that we first preach the word of God

  789. to you Jews. But since you have rejected it

  790. and judged yourselves unworthy of eternal life, We will offer

  791. it to the Gentiles for the Lord gave us a commandment.

  792. He said I've made you a light to the Gentiles to bring salvation

  793. to the farthest corners of the earth.

  794. When the Gentiles heard this, they were very glad and thank

  795. the Lord for this message and all who are chosen for eternal

  796. life became believers. So the Lord's message spread

  797. throughout the region that throughout that region.

  798. And when you read you read in Acts chapter 19 was a 17 to 22.

    Acts 19 chapter mention

  799. We read about Paul being in Ephesus.

  800. He says that that when this became known to the Jews and

  801. Greeks living in Ephesus, they were all seized with fear.

  802. In the name of the Lord Jesus was held in high honor.

  803. Many of those who believe now came and openly confessed what

  804. they had done. A number of them who had

  805. practice sorcery brought their scrolls together and burned them

  806. publicly. When they calculated the value

  807. of the scrolls, the total came to 50,000 drachmas.

  808. In the In this way, the word of the Lord spread wildly and grew

  809. in power. After all this had happened was

  810. 21, Paul decided to go to Jerusalem, passing through

  811. Macedonia and IKEA. After I have been there, he said

  812. I must visit Rome. Also, he sent two of his

  813. helpers, Timothy and Erastus, to Macedonia while he stayed in the

  814. province of Asia a little longer.

  815. It's interesting when Paul is standing in the midst of

  816. Augustus and Felix, he says I appeal to Caesar.

  817. He didn't want to play The Dirty politics that they were playing.

  818. He says, I want to appeal to Caesar.

  819. He was clear with the mission that he had to go.

  820. So today as I, as we as we come to a close, I know where you

  821. find yourself in all these three different things because each of

  822. our life stages can be thing. But I, I know many of us are

  823. struggling to be persistent in what God's called us.

  824. Can we realize what he's called us is unique?

  825. What each and everyone of you is unique.

  826. What he set you up is unique don't discount yourself.

  827. Don't set yourself. Don't don't The age has no bar

  828. Be persistent. Realize what you're called to

  829. do. You know, the, the the person

  830. who is listening to a podcast, she's a she's a very like, what

  831. do you say, a preacher of God's word.

  832. She's really held different positions and she's doing great

  833. things. And she said in that podcast,

  834. she's talking if I had to take a step back and every time

  835. question was this, as a woman, was I able to do this?

  836. I would have not been able to do anything that God had called me

  837. to do. I had to push through.

  838. She was the country's National Youth director and she said she

  839. was the only woman till date who has held that post.

  840. After that, no one else has held it.

  841. But I had to go through everything.

  842. Yes, where the insults, where the scoffing, where people

  843. looking down was, was there mansplaining, all that?

  844. Yes there was. But what God had called me was

  845. far bigger. This, The earth will never have

  846. the right environment for you to complete God's Commission.

  847. It's meant to prevail through everything that you're going to.

  848. So if you're going through work, struggle, push through it,

  849. persist through it. Some of us get these words mixed

  850. up, mixed up. You're serving God, you're

  851. working out there. Work well, serve God well.

  852. Serving God is a lifetime. Everything that we learn here is

  853. for a lifetime. You're working on it.

  854. When you read the New Testament, it says your earthly masters

  855. obey them. They tell.

  856. They tell you to come at 9, show up at 9.

  857. Don't go there at 10. When they say deliver you as a

  858. Christ image bearer, deliver. Ask God.

  859. God, I really am struggling. Give me the skill.

  860. He'll give it to you. He'll give you situations to

  861. practice it. Well, start it.

  862. It might look but age like when you look at Paul, I'm amazed and

  863. by the way in which he goes. He gets shipwrecked in that also

  864. he's ministering salvation. Malta, they're doing great

  865. things, goes into Rome. He's in captive and in

  866. captivity. He writes some of the best

  867. letters that have gone out to the churches.

  868. He writes Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, and

  869. Philemon, pivotal chapters. My favorite verses in Ephesians

  870. 320 and I realized what circumstance to write in.

  871. He was persistent throughout till death.

  872. So today you and I, what stage are we in and we are saying God,

  873. I just I just want to enjoy retirement and she's in that

  874. podcast. She was telling she's turned 60

  875. and she just feels 60 is a new 30.

  876. That's what she's saying. There's much more to be done if

  877. the, if the enemy is out there, which means I have to be out

  878. there. That's the spirit that we need.

  879. The position may not be there in respect of the position.

  880. If I have to serve the next generation, I'll serve that.

  881. If I have to do something else for the people who are in the

  882. front and I have to be in the background, I'll do that.

  883. And that's what we see Paul modelled.

  884. You know, we read the we read the story of the talents which

  885. Jesus talks about and somehow we take comfort in the fact that

  886. I'll just bury it and keep because it doesn't make sense.

  887. But God sing to whom much is given much is required.

  888. So I pray that we'll be faithful this week.

  889. As we were reading, we were doing a Bible plan with couple

  890. of the youth guys and it says that be faithful where your feet

  891. are. Lot of us want to be.

  892. Oh Geshum was faithful. No, but be faithful where your

  893. feet are. If it's in Torepakam Omar, 2nd

  894. floor upper room, be faithful here.

  895. When I'm in Karapakkam at home, be faithful there.

  896. Just imagine if every Christian lived that out.

  897. Faithful where my feet are. And so I pray and ask that as we

  898. meditate through this, God will work in and through us.

  899. In Psalms 145 four, it says that each generation tell its

  900. children of your mighty acts. Let them proclaim your power.

  901. When we read through judges, when we read through Joshua,

  902. it's interesting. After Joshua's time, that grew a

  903. generation who didn't know the Lord.

  904. And they say Joshua could be considered a failure because

  905. they were so fighting battles, battles that they didn't get the

  906. next generation ready. Today, you and I, what are we

  907. overcoming that we're telling the next generation you can

  908. overcome. The problem is a lot of us in

  909. our 40s have not overcome bullying ourselves.

  910. We've not overcome the our own identity.

  911. We still have identity with the colour of our skin, with the way

  912. we look. What will we pass down to the

  913. next generation? What will we pass down to the

  914. next generation? Should go back and say God, I'm

  915. learning right now from you if you made me in your image.

  916. It's interesting. We we say we've been woven, he's

  917. woven us in in our mother's womb, all that yet we fail to

  918. understand wow God, what uniqueness is We think unique is

  919. just this one aspect. No imagine if you and I are

  920. already created in the image of God.

  921. What does uniqueness look to Christ?

  922. What its uniqueness look to God, it looks entirely different.

  923. What our minds can't comprehend, what we can't understand.

  924. So today this persistence that I'm asking you is we have to

  925. wholly give up, give ourselves up for the mission so that the

  926. mission is accomplished. I was watching this show, I

  927. think a couple of weeks back about these Delta forces of how

  928. they go in to these places to do whatever they are supposed to

  929. do. But one of the critical things

  930. you see is they don't just give up in the mission halfway.

  931. They give up only they they finish the task and then they

  932. get out. And that's what we all have to

  933. be as Christians. He's saying, would you be ready

  934. to take up the task, finish the task?

  935. And the problem is a lot of us today are fighting the battle

  936. internally, as I conclude, which I feel is very important as

  937. you're always trying to measure up.

  938. Christian life is not about measuring up.

  939. Else it has been the easiest for us.

  940. It's all about God up. You're measuring up is you're

  941. measuring up to someone else's standard in the world.

  942. You're measuring up to someone else's.

  943. You're probably like looking at your the C-Suite person in your

  944. office thinking I need to measure up to them.

  945. But gossaic. No, I have far bigger things for

  946. you. Ask me those hidden treasures,

  947. I'll tell it to you. You're trying to measure up in

  948. your role as a father. You're trying to measure up in

  949. the role of your as a husband. Ask God, God, these are roles

  950. which you have given take put me into.

  951. Let me measure up to you, not do anything else.

  952. So today too, if you're a struggling father, if you're a

  953. doubtful mother, if as a husband, if you're struggling

  954. today as a wife, if you're struggling to be happy as a son

  955. and daughter, I would say don't measure up, would you God up so

  956. that God can lead you into that role and fulfill the role that

  957. he's given you so that nothing else can shake you from that

  958. place. James one concludes this.

  959. It says blessed is the one who perceives under trial because

  960. having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of

  961. life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.

  962. So I pray and ask Lord, even as we're here today, as we receive

  963. your word that we would be in a place, Lord Jesus of saying,

  964. God, we are completely in this learning mode activated.

  965. Lord, I pray especially Lord, for those who are like, Lord,

  966. I'll, I'll just get tidbits of your learning here and that no,

  967. God is asking, would you be committed to my learning?

  968. Because when you when you're committed, would you be willing

  969. to change? When you're really willing to

  970. change, Will you be able to live out what I've called you to live

  971. out? So I pray and ask, Lord, for all

  972. of us who are struggling in this learning mode, constantly

  973. activating it and deactivate, I pray right now we make a

  974. commitment to be fully activated for you, Lord Jesus, whatever

  975. stage we are in, whatever role we are in right now, we ask Lord

  976. that we will activate it so that we'll be the best person.

  977. You have marked us out, Lord Jesus, that we won't just

  978. measure up. Lord, we will look to you for

  979. everything. Lord Jesus, we will look to you.

  980. We will ask you, Lord, to make us the version that you intended

  981. us, Lord, when you created us. I pray and ask even right now,

  982. Lord, as we receive the communion in our hands, that

  983. we'll also realize that if we've been troubled and if your words

  984. have not been sitting in US, Lord Jesus, we've been unable to

  985. be poised because of our circumstances.

  986. We take your life giving word and speak your Shalom into our

  987. hearts, Shalom into our minds, Shalom into our spirits that

  988. we'll find comfort in You. Lord, I pray especially, Lord,

  989. for those of us who are struggling to pivot in the

  990. direction you're calling us. Lord, I pray right now faith

  991. will be injected in Lord Jesus. I pray we'll be able to see the

  992. fruits that you want us to bear through eyes of faith.

  993. I pray and ask, Lord, you will show us, Lord, if we can let go

  994. of our Jericho right now, we can take that step of faith and

  995. pivot to what you're calling us. Lord, we'll be able to do that.

  996. Lord, we'll be able to do that. I pray, Lord, for those of us,

  997. Lord, who were on this journey, but we tapped out some time back

  998. because it was getting hard, I pray, Lord, that we'll be

  999. persistent through it. Lord, we'll be persistent to the

1000. call that you've given us. Lord Jesus, we'll be persistent

1001. to what you want us to do. We thank you, Lord, Thank you,

  1002. Jesus. Thank you, Lord.
