Romans 12.
-
Here we go.
-
Romans 12, verse 2.
-
This is the verse that we have been just leaning on through this whole year.
-
If you've been coming recently and you say, well, we seem to be reading the same verse to start the sermon, it's because that we are.
-
The Lord dropped in our heart at the beginning of the year that this would be a year of transformation, a year where we would want to see change in our lives, change in maybe specific areas or much of our lives, because change is always needed.
-
We always need to be trans to be transformed.
-
Change never stops.
-
Transformation is continuous.
-
Romans 12, 2 tells us, do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
-
Now, we want to remind you, transformation requires a change of thinking.
-
Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
-
Transformation is necessary, it's beautiful.
-
We're called to transform to become more like Jesus Christ.
-
But in order to get there, in order to accomplish it, there has to be a change in the way we're thinking and our thought patterns and our belief systems, a change in the way we perceive things, a change in even our outlook, which all takes place within the mind.
-
For the first 10 weeks, we talked about just transformation and the necessity of it.
-
Transformation and how we all need it.
-
Transformation and how it doesn't matter how long you've been saved, you're still being transformed into to be more like Jesus.
-
Say amen to that.
-
Tell your neighbor you're still transforming.
-
Tell your neighbor you're still transforming.
-
Tell the other neighbor the one you don't like, you too, okay?
-
You're transforming too.
-
I pray that over you.
-
We're all being transformed.
-
We're all being transformed.
-
That's our call to be transformed, to be changed.
-
The goal, what's the goal?
-
What's the bullseye?
-
To be more like Jesus.
-
Amen?
-
To be more like Jesus Christ with the help of the Holy Spirit.
-
And we talking, we're talking about this transformation in those first 10 weeks, just the need for these last 10 weeks, uh, before today, or I mean even beyond that, about 12 weeks now, we've been zoning in on the mind, how the mind works and how the mind needs to be changed, and how the mind needs to be, as the Bible says, renewed, changed, renewed, worked on, renewed, fixed, how it needs to happen within our mind so that we can see that transformation come to pass.
-
These past few weeks, I will admit, have been a little different.
-
We've just been led by the Spirit.
-
We've been kind of stuck in this Romans 8 part.
-
So we're before I read Romans 8, let me remind you now where are we?
-
In part 23, I believe, is where we're at.
-
Let's go to the next slide, I believe.
-
Is it part 23?
-
Part 23.
-
Now, there we go.
-
We call it my our Jordan week, part 23.
-
All right.
-
Um last few weeks we've been here in Romans 8, Romans 7, and Romans 8.
-
And um, I promise you, this all has to do with the mind as well.
-
But uh last week we just kind of had a stop in Romans 8, 3 and 4 because there was just these words so now that spoke to us, and wanted to share that with you.
-
But even with that, we tie it to the mind.
-
If you're here last week, listen to last week's message.
-
But I want to go ahead and kind of continue on in Romans 8 here as we talk about the necessity of the mind, the the renewing of the mind, the changing of the mind, the working in the mind.
-
And you're gonna see a special, we'll call it a special component that's gonna assist us in all this today.
-
Really, it's a person, but I don't want to ruin the surprise, but we'll get there.
-
All right.
-
Let's say a prayer.
-
Father, thank you for your word today.
-
According to Acts 242, your word is received gladly.
-
According to Acts 19, 20, your word will prevail.
-
I pray now, Father, that even as I stand here, the Spirit of my Father speak through me, according to Matthew 10.20.
-
I ask you now, Father, that your word be quick and powerful today, according to Hebrews 12.4, Father, it shall not return void, according to Isaiah 55, 11.
-
And Lord, your words are spirit and life today, according to John 6.63.
-
I pray, Father, that I will decrease and you will increase, according to John 3.30.
-
And Father God, that everything said from these lips is said without air and with excellence according to your desire.
-
For we gather to hear the truth of your word, and not the opinion of man.
-
We give you the honor and glory.
-
In Jesus' name we pray.
-
Amen.
-
Why don't you compliment your neighbor real quick?
-
Tell your neighbor, man, you look good today.
-
Tell your neighbor, looks like you're losing a little weight.
-
That's always a good one.
-
Looks like you're losing a little weight.
-
You look good.
-
Husbands, score some bonus points with your wives right now.
-
I like your shoes.
-
Can I have them?
-
You know, don't be shy.
-
Let's go to Romans 8.
-
And like I said, we've been here for the past few weeks, and um, we're gonna move through it here.
-
So let's go to verse 1.
-
Remember in chapter 7, Paul was enlightening us and giving us almost some insight into that personal battle.
-
The thing I don't want to do, I do.
-
The thing I should do, I don't.
-
You know, oh wicked man that I am, oh wretched man that I am, this battle I have within.
-
It's not me, it's my flesh that that wants to do these things.
-
And at the end of seven, chapter seven, he he gives us that encouragement, right?
-
But there's an answer to this, and the answer is Jesus Christ.
-
How many are grateful for the answer in Jesus Christ today?
-
I'm grateful for that answer.
-
And then he leads us into Romans 8 with that answer that is Jesus Christ.
-
And verse 1.
-
So there's no now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.
-
We've been reading this.
-
Verse 2.
-
So now there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.
-
I have it here.
-
Let's see.
-
Who?
-
And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.
-
The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature.
-
So God did what the law could not do.
-
He sent his own son in a body like the bodies we sinners have, and in that body God declared an end to sin's control over us by giving his son as a sacrifice for our sins.
-
He did this so that the just requirement of the law would be fully satisfied for us, who no longer follow our sinful nature, but instead follow the spirit.
-
Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about that things, those things that please the Spirit.
-
So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death, but letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.
-
And there's a phrase or a point, I'd rather say like that, of a point that I've been emphasizing to you for the past few weeks.
-
Let's put it on the board.
-
Is that Jesus did not move us past warfare, Jesus made warfare possible.
-
That is, when we got saved, the war against sin did not end.
-
The battle still goes on.
-
The war against the flesh and the spirit did not cease.
-
The war goes on.
-
Before Jesus, hear me, you and I were losing that war.
-
We were losing that war completely.
-
But the answer in Jesus Christ now at least gives us a fight now, a battle in that we can now at least get into this fight and into this battle.
-
But even more than that, in the name of Jesus, we're gonna win this battle.
-
Say amen to that.
-
And now I want to remind you that one of the reasons put on the board that we desire a renewed mind is so that we can win our battle with sin.
-
Part of winning this battle is renewing the mind.
-
That's the transformation, that's the change so that we can act differently, do differently, speak differently, so that we can be different.
-
And that renewed mind helps us to accomplish that transformation, but it's all possible because Jesus gave us life in this battle with sin.
-
He gave us a chance now to win this battle, which again, with the help of the Holy Spirit, we will win.
-
And in Romans 8, here, as we're gonna learn today, Paul highlights the role of the amazing Holy Spirits.
-
Now we're gonna have some fun today.
-
When I say Holy Spirit for the next, let's say two minutes, you're just gonna go wild and crazy, okay?
-
So he Paul highlights the role of the Holy Spirit.
-
Yeah.
-
If I would have said wimba yamba, you would have been louder than that, probably for some of you.
-
Yeah.
-
Paul highlights the role of the Holy Spirit.
-
And he's making it clear to us in chapter eight that there is a need for the Holy Spirit.
-
In case you haven't caught on, we believe in the Holy Spirit here in this church.
-
Say amen.
-
Oh, yeah, I didn't even catch that one.
-
Good job.
-
We believe in him, we need him.
-
He's the gift given to us by Jesus Christ.
-
And I tell you today, put on the board, while the power of sin influences us towards destruction, the power of the Holy Spirit.
-
Alright.
-
Two minutes are up now.
-
Good job.
-
I'm proud of you.
-
The power of the Holy Spirit influences towards life.
-
One pulls one way, the other pulls the other.
-
I think it's so beautiful that we have this battle that we're in.
-
But we have, as one version says, the advantage in the Holy Spirit in our lives.
-
And as Paul goes through chapter 8, as we read earlier, there's no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.
-
You once belonged to sin.
-
You were once under that control of sin, but now the power, the life-giving spirit, has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.
-
And then in verse 3, put verse 3 of the Living Bible on the board.
-
And I remind you, like I said last week, in the Living Bible, it says we aren't saved from sin's grasp by knowing the commandments of God because we can't and don't keep them.
-
We fell at this attempt on our own to live up to God's standard.
-
But God put into effect a different plan to save us.
-
He sent his own son in a human body like ours, Jesus Christ, except that ours are sinful and destroyed sin's control over us by giving himself as a sacrifice for our sins.
-
Church, never forget that Jesus was the sacrifice for our sins.
-
And our sins are forgiven.
-
Our life can be changed, transformed because of the answer to Jesus Christ.
-
Sin's control over us in verse 3 has been destroyed.
-
Isn't that so beautiful to hear?
-
But after this beautiful reminder in verse 3, Paul goes into now what I'll call we'll call it a challenge, we'll call it a motivation, a drive that he's trying to put within the hearts of the people as we read in verse 4.
-
After verse 3, read verse 4 with me in the Living Bible.
-
So now, those are those two words.
-
Sin's control is destroyed.
-
So now we can obey God's laws if we follow after the Holy Spirit and no longer obey the old nature, evil nature within us.
-
Sin's control over you is destroyed.
-
So now you can obey God.
-
So now this reinforces what we've been saying.
-
I think many of you are just taking this with you in this series, part of our series.
-
Jesus did not move us past warfare.
-
Jesus made warfare possible.
-
Sin's control over us is destroyed.
-
So now you and I, we can obey God's law if we follow after the Holy Spirit.
-
Church, put it in the next slide on the board in verse 3.
-
Sin's control over us is destroyed, but we don't stop in verse 3.
-
We notice those first two words in verse 4.
-
So now sin's control over us is destroyed.
-
So now when we read that sin's control over us is destroyed, hear me.
-
We cannot think there's nothing left to do.
-
Sin is destroyed.
-
Hallelujah.
-
And I mean that.
-
But listen, the job's not over, it's not done.
-
So now means there's more to be done.
-
That's what I emphasized to you last week.
-
Hear me.
-
What more in this instance, specifically in verse 3?
-
What more can be done now that sin's control is destroyed?
-
What more can now be done?
-
So now what can be done?
-
We can now obey God's laws.
-
Sin's control, hear me, defied God's laws.
-
Sin's control went against God's commandments.
-
Sin's control fought against the will of God.
-
But church, because of the power of Jesus Christ dying on the cross, the control of sin is now broken over our lives.
-
We, you and I, can obey.
-
And maybe for some of you hearing that is like, that's a stretch, Pastor.
-
You don't even want to know what I was doing last night.
-
We can obey.
-
You can obey.
-
Tell your neighbor real quick, you can do it, man.
-
You can do it, or woman, whoever you are.
-
You can do it, lady.
-
You can do it.
-
You can do it.
-
And hear me, just some encouragement.
-
Some of you may say, Man, you know, you don't know my parents, my grandparents, you don't know my bloodline, you don't know my battles, my addictions.
-
I don't, the Lord does.
-
And I'll tell you today, the power of God can destroy every curse, destroy every addiction, destroy everything that is not of Him over our lives, because that control of sin is broken by the power of Jesus Christ, and there's now a new power operating in our lives.
-
Church, be aware, you and I, with help, can obey.
-
And with that thought, since there is now no control of sin, the the control of sin, since the control of sin has been broken, what more can be done?
-
We can obey God's laws.
-
Well, I submit to you.
-
Since we can now obey God's laws, in verse 4, hear me.
-
Paul gives us a challenge.
-
He said, Listen, listen.
-
Sin's control over you is broken, it's destroyed.
-
So now you can obey God's laws.
-
But let me challenge you.
-
I'll give you the challenge, and it's right there in verse 4.
-
Show verse 4 for me, the living Bible.
-
What's the challenge?
-
If, if, if, if we follow after the Holy Spirit.
-
If we follow after the Holy Spirit, obedience is possible.
-
What more can be done?
-
You can obey God's laws, but hear me, man of God, hear me, child of God.
-
You can't do it on your own.
-
You need to follow after the Holy Spirit.
-
You need relationship with the Holy Spirit.
-
Paul is now directing us towards, you want to see life change?
-
You want to see now how you can live, how it's possible to live now that sin's control is destroyed over your life.
-
You want to see how good life can be doing God's will.
-
You want to see how good life can be as you're changed and transformed and becoming more like Jesus.
-
Do you want to see that come to pass?
-
Well, if you do, here's the challenge.
-
Follow after the Holy Spirit.
-
Follow after him.
-
Follow after the Holy Spirit.
-
And I'll tell you today, I've learned that can be challenging at times.
-
That can be challenging to think that daily, daily, every moment by moment, and I am one to admit I felt that daily, moment by moment, we are called to follow after the Holy Spirit.
-
And it's so important, it's so important.
-
Why?
-
Put it on the board now.
-
I'll say it again.
-
Jesus made the warfare possible, but hear me, but you and I must recognize our role in the war.
-
We have a duty in this too.
-
We have an assignment in this too.
-
Hear me.
-
The Holy Spirit's not like sit out, I'll take care of all of it.
-
The Holy Spirit's like, hey, get up.
-
We're gonna do this together.
-
It's not like go take a break, I'll take care of it all.
-
No, get up, man of God, get up, woman of God.
-
We're gonna do this together.
-
Stay together.
-
You are never alone.
-
You are saved, and the Holy Spirit is with you every day, and he wants to do everything together.
-
Go to work together, be married with your husband and your wife together.
-
Raise your children together.
-
Handle your boss together.
-
Handle the crazy person at HB with 25 items and the 10 item or less lane.
-
Handle them together.
-
People cut you off on the road, handle it together with the Holy Spirit.
-
Everything we're called to do in life is to do it together with the Holy Spirit.
-
Never a day without them, never a moment without them.
-
And trust me, we all fail at it.
-
But good news is this the grace of God is real, the mercy of God is real, the compassion of God is real, and to every person here, the Holy Spirit is still here saying, I'm ready to do it together with you in every area of your life.
-
And I think to myself here, I have a role in this thing.
-
I have a part in this thing.
-
If we're gonna overcome sin, Holy Spirit's not just looking at you like, I got it.
-
No, we have a role in this.
-
I want to change.
-
Holy Spirit, help me change.
-
Get up, you have a part in this.
-
Holy Spirit, I want transformation.
-
Get up, you're gonna do your part in this, but we're gonna do it together.
-
Together, we do it.
-
Our role, what is our role?
-
Hear me.
-
It's right in verse four.
-
Our role is to follow.
-
Follow after the Holy Spirit.
-
Well, what do I do in this war?
-
Follow after the Holy Spirit.
-
Okay, but what about when things get hard?
-
Follow after the Holy Spirit.
-
What about when I don't know what to do?
-
Follow after the Holy Spirit.
-
What about when I'm a little confused?
-
Follow after the Holy Spirit.
-
My boss gets mad, follow after the Holy Spirit.
-
They're judging me and talking about me.
-
Follow after the Holy Spirit.
-
Kids walk down on me, follow after the Holy Spirit.
-
Husbands mad at me, follow after the Holy Spirit.
-
Wife's mad at me, follow after the Holy Spirit.
-
Dog, don't stop barking, follow after the Holy Spirit.
-
I laid a hand on my dog and prayed for her the other day.
-
My wife will tell you, she's been acting up.
-
I don't know if it's the baby on the way or what.
-
But I'll just like, and I'll and she'll tell you that I'm like the soft one.
-
Because she'll act up, and at the end of that through yellow at her, I'm like, let me sneak you a treat though, real quick.
-
I put it on my wife there, and I told the dog, she's gonna send you the pound, dude.
-
She's not.
-
Lay the hand on that dog.
-
You think it's listen?
-
I was just being led, to be honest with you.
-
Someone told me, Father, pray for him.
-
Really?
-
Pray for my dog?
-
Yeah, pray for him.
-
That wasn't anyway.
-
I believe that's the Holy Spirit.
-
Pray for him.
-
Why?
-
Pray for all things.
-
Pray about everything.
-
Side note, pray about everything.
-
AC don't work in the car, pray about it.
-
Your home looks home's smelling funny, pray about it.
-
God, give me wisdom.
-
Ants everywhere in your house, pray about it, and then do something about it.
-
I was out HB there today, not 10 item or less lane.
-
Hold on.
-
I don't know about you, but I've been had all I've had a hard time picking good watermelons lately.
-
Follow every rule in the book.
-
Get home, spit it out.
-
Like, what's this trash?
-
It's not good.
-
Bought a Walmart the other day, put my hand on that sucker.
-
I did before paying for it.
-
I said, you will be sweet in the name of Jesus.
-
You will.
-
You will be sweet.
-
I got home, cut that thing open, and lo and behold, it was the sweetest watermelon I bought in a long time.
-
Now, my theory is it wasn't sweet before I prayed for it.
-
I guess I'm saying I'll let's say this, just a side note.
-
When you follow after the Holy Spirit, sometimes you're gonna be led to do things that may seem a little odd.
-
What?
-
By the way, what why?
-
Just do it together with him.
-
That's our role, to follow after him.
-
You want to obey God's laws?
-
Follow after the Holy Spirit.
-
You follow after him.
-
Put it on the board, the next slide.
-
Because Jesus made warfare possible, but we just recognize our role in the war.
-
That's our role, to follow after him.
-
So that my question becomes: are you willing to follow after the Holy Spirit?
-
Because if we have a role in the war, if we have a role in this war, if we want to win it, we got to do our role.
-
We have to.
-
And I think to myself, those words follow after, and we'll get ready to wrap this up.
-
Follow after.
-
We look at them in the Greek.
-
It's simply this to live according to or to be in line with.
-
To live according to the Holy Spirit or to be in line with the Holy Spirit.
-
Following after.
-
Sin's control over you is destroyed, so now you can obey God's laws if you live according to the Holy Spirit.
-
If you are in line with the Holy Spirit, you can do this.
-
You and I, together with him, we can do this.
-
And I saw a little visual recently, and then I took a little twist on the visual that I want to kind of show you today.
-
And I've never done this before, and and I and I'm gonna need a partner here in a second because these words just kind of stood out to me and I couldn't get past them.
-
Follow after the Holy Spirit.
-
That is to live according to the Holy Spirit, his desires, his ways.
-
We easily live according to other things in our lives.
-
According to how our parents did it, according to our grandparents did it, according to how our boss wants it, according to man, according to how my children want it.
-
Can I remind you, your children don't reign over you, you rule over them.
-
You know, like but we'll we will do things according to what society thinks or what culture says or the latest trend.
-
We'll come into line with things that maybe we're not even sure do I agree with it, but everyone else does.
-
So I'm just gonna fall in line.
-
And we have to be careful because then we bend to truths and lot or so-called truths, and they're actually lies that we bend to because we come in line with them or live according to them.
-
And here is simply put by Paul, you live according to the Holy Spirit's ways, his desires, his will, what he's longing for you, what he's persuading you, driving, motivating you to do.
-
You come in line with the Holy Spirit.
-
If the Holy Spirit agrees with it, that's what I want.
-
You come in line with it, but I'm not gonna lie to you, it can be a little tricky and a little difficult at times, especially when you first get saved.
-
I uh so, real quick, I think the best way I can describe this to you is, well, a couple ways, but here's one.
-
Um, Rick?
-
We didn't rehearse this, but come on, we're gonna be alright, okay?
-
All right, come on stage with me.
-
Give Rick a hand clap, all right?
-
All right, all right, don't move.
-
Don't move.
-
That's wrong.
-
All right, here we go.
-
Together.
-
And we're gonna have to do this.
-
Me and the Holy Spirit.
-
Uh you want to be the Holy Spirit?
-
I'll be I'll be the Holy Spirit.
-
Together, Rick.
-
Alright.
-
Don't step on my Georgians, man.
-
No, it's fine.
-
I just play.
-
I just play.
-
I just play.
-
I'll just play.
-
I'll just play.
-
I'll just play.
-
No, no, no.
-
No.
-
Come on.
-
Okay.
-
Think about it.
-
This can be the battle sometimes.
-
Okay, wait.
-
Oh, I got you.
-
Just wait.
-
Okay, fine our okay, off.
-
Yeah.
-
And and and this is this is what we're called.
-
Together, join with the Holy Spirit.
-
We live our life.
-
Let's go.
-
Okay.
-
We go.
-
And I tell you what, this is the beauty of it.
-
You want it enough, and you pray, and you seek him, and you long for him, and you you make it clear, nothing in life without you.
-
At first, to get those few steps going can be a little tricky, especially the new safe, lully safe person.
-
But you know what happens?
-
Go ahead.
-
You start to kind of catch your rhythm.
-
You start to kind of go.
-
And now you're like, man, you know what, Rick?
-
This is pretty cool, man.
-
We're gonna do this together.
-
Wherever you go, I go.
-
Whatever's in our way, we'll get through it together.
-
At first, it was a little weird, it was a little rough.
-
Oh, even corner, corner, corner, corner, corner, corner, corner.
-
Oh, look at that.
-
We got through it.
-
Every battle, every fight, everything we go through, no matter where you're at, Rick, the Holy Spirit wants to be with you in that moment.
-
And at first it's kind of hard, but no matter where you go, we will be together.
-
Here's the thing you can't fight me.
-
If you want to go that way and I want to go this way, go ahead, go, go.
-
If you want to step with this one, but I want to step with that one, we're gonna step to my Jordans again, man.
-
I'm just playing, I'll play, I'll play.
-
I really am.
-
But but we pray.
-
And even when even if you or I fail, he's still saying together.
-
Together.
-
Come on, together, together.
-
That last step was a little weird.
-
But we're gonna keep going now.
-
Together.
-
That last step was funny.
-
Stop.
-
Rick.
-
See?
-
Still with you.
-
That one decision was a little rough, but I'm still with you.
-
Church, our goal is in line, according to.
-
You better believe, let the Holy Spirit lead.
-
Because I tell you today what I've learned.
-
Are you willing to follow the Holy Spirit?
-
Put on the board.
-
Because we follow Holy Spirit, because He will never lead us wrong.
-
She won't.
-
I'm gonna be honest with you though, Rick.
-
As great as oh, you know what?
-
Wanna try something cool?
-
Let's go backwards.
-
How about that?
-
Oh, oh, oh, ooh, ooh.
-
Man, he said he whispered, you make a good dancing partner.
-
You don't want to see me dance, Rick.
-
Trust me.
-
You're not ready for that.
-
But you know what I've learned though, unfortunately?
-
Can you take that off of me, Rick, if you don't mind?
-
What I've learned though is sometimes, and I hate to kind of take a little turn here, but I've learned that if we're not careful, you're fine.
-
I'll just play.
-
I've learned that oh no, Rick, we're not done, buddy.
-
So thank you though.
-
I've learned if we're not careful, we will kind of go ahead and shut that off.
-
We will we will want connection and togetherness.
-
But to be honest, sometimes we want it in our own way.
-
I claim relationship with him, but am I really connected with him?
-
I claim relationship with him, but am I really together with him?
-
Because I've learned that you can say he's in me.
-
Holy Spirit, you're present, but I can be over here doing whatever I want in my own little world.
-
There's enough, there's enough compromise, there's enough separation, not enough connection.
-
Here's where I'm guilty of too.
-
But I need you, Holy Spirits.
-
That was nice.
-
Now I'm gonna go do my own thing a little bit more, though.
-
Holy Spirit, I need help.
-
They're going, it's going horrible today.
-
Thank you for the help.
-
I'll catch up with you later, though.
-
And we kind of create our own funny version of following after the Holy Spirit, of living according to the Holy Spirit.
-
And I've learned unfortunately, I'm guilty of it.
-
He almost becomes a convenience to us.
-
It's convenient that he's with us.
-
It's not convenient that he's with us.
-
Church.
-
It's gotta be, come on, mandatory that he's with us.
-
It gotta be connected here.
-
Because you know what happens?
-
Go ahead one more time.
-
Did you see that part in verse four?
-
You're doing great, Jennifer.
-
Go back to verse four of the Living Bible.
-
Did you see where it says in the Living Bible, verse four?
-
So now we can obey God's laws if we follow after the Holy Spirit and hear me, and no longer obey the old evil nature within us.
-
You know the danger in this?
-
You're good.
-
There's a lot of room for the old evil nature right here.
-
There's a lot of space for the old evil nature to operate.
-
And hear me, separate us from the convictions of the Holy Spirit, separate us from the leading of the Holy Spirit, separate us from the, hear me, hear me, the transformation that's being directed by the Holy Spirit.
-
All this operates, that evil nature operates.
-
And church, I tell you today, don't get me funny.
-
You could be saved 30, 40, 50 years, and I guarantee you, there's moments like this in our life.
-
But thanks be to God, right?
-
Church, there doesn't have to be this convenient distance with the Holy Spirit.
-
Come on, Rick.
-
Holy Spirit, I want you every day present with me, going with me, helping me, and in the name of Jesus, there's no distance between us.
-
We're gonna do life together every single day.
-
And here's the thing as we close, when there's that transformation desired in our lives, when we want to see that change, that old evil nature destroyed in us, this is necessary.
-
This has to be operating in our lives.
-
Praying, seeking.
-
We'll talk more about next week.
-
Being honest.
-
Why?
-
Because I want to live according to the Holy Spirit, in line with the Holy Spirit.
-
And church, when we are living according to and in line with Him, that's when we will truly see great success in our lives, great blessing in our lives, because we're doing it not apart, we're doing it together with the Holy Spirit.
-
Give the Lord a hand clap today.
-
I am done.
-
Thanks, Rick.
-
I appreciate you, man.
-
Give Rick a hand clap for me if you don't mind.
-
All right.
-
Thank you, Rick.
-
Appreciate you.
-
Worship team come up.
-
And I want to just remind you today.
-
That's the challenge of Paul.
-
Hear me, look at me, look at me.
-
That's the challenge of Paul.
-
Since control was destroyed.
-
So now you can obey God's laws.
-
If the challenge, if we follow after the Holy Spirit, if we live according to the Holy Spirit, if we are in line with the Holy Spirit, we can do this with the help of the Holy Spirit.
-
So hear me.
-
You can either follow after the Holy Spirit or follow the evil nature within.
-
Let's be honest across the board, real quick, by show of hands.
-
How many would admit, yeah, Pastor, I'm guilty of following my evil nature within?
-
I've done it.
-
Raise your hand.
-
If you didn't raise your hand, you're a liar and you just did it.
-
We've all done it.
-
We've all had that battle and we've lost.
-
Following that evil nature within, my answer or question to you is very clear.
-
Which one do you want to follow?
-
After the Holy Spirit, who leads to life and peace, or after the evil nature that leads to death and destruction?
-
I know what I want.
-
I hope you want the same.
-
I want to follow after the Holy Spirit.
-
And I tell you today, that's how you can prepare yourself to answer Paul's challenge daily, moment by moment.
-
Holy Spirit, I need you.
-
Why?
-
As we close.
-
Because the Lord's doing a work in my life.
-
Say amen to that.
-
Tell your neighbor, He's doing a work in your life.
-
Confess that over your neighbor.
-
He's doing a work over your life.
-
Find two or three people.
-
He's doing a work over your in your life.
-
He's doing a work in us.
-
There's a work taking place in us, church.
-
Look at me.
-
Today, you may feel far from God.
-
You may feel like you've lost a lot and that you messed up too much.
-
But today I'll speak over you.
-
There's a work happening within you today.
-
I haven't been to church in a long time.
-
Today begins a work within you in the name of Jesus.
-
I've fought and I've battled and I'm ashamed of some things.
-
Today begins within you a work in the name of Jesus.
-
And even if you've been saved a long time, today the work continues within you in the name of Jesus.
-
There's a work happening within us.
-
That transformation is taking place, but it has to be through the renewing of the mind.
-
So, church, I implore you today, daily, when you wake up, put a hand over your head, a hand over your mind as you go through the day.
-
Take a moment, put a hand over your mind, a hand over your head in the name of Jesus.
-
Holy Spirit, you're working in this mind.
-
Holy Spirit, I'm connected to you.
-
We're doing it together in the name of Jesus.
-
Because there's still more work to be done in your life.
-
Young man, young woman in college is ahead of you.
-
There's a lot of work to be done in your life.
-
Do it with the Holy Spirit.
-
Parents that are about to be people are about to be parents.
-
Great work's ahead of you.
-
There's more work to be done in your life in the name of Jesus.
-
Newly wet people, there's more work to be done in your life in the name of Jesus.
-
People who are about to become grandparents.
-
There's more work to be done in your life in the name of Jesus.
-
People are starting new jobs, new ventures.
-
There's still more work to be done in your life in the name of Jesus.
-
Why am I saying that?
-
Because there's more work to be done, therefore.
-
There's still a working to be done on this mind.
-
There's still work to be done in this mind so that this life can shine for the honor and glory of Jesus Christ.
-
Because in the end, church never forget.
-
It's all about him, not about them.
-
It's all about him, not about you and me.
-
It's all for the honor and glory of Jesus Christ.
-
Why are you different?
-
Because the Lord is good.
-
Why are you happy?
-
Because the Lord is good.
-
Why are you always smiling?
-
Because the Lord is good.
-
How did you get through the battle?
-
Because the Lord is good.
-
How did you raise great kids?
-
Because the Lord is good.
-
How are you still married?
-
Because the Lord is good.
-
How are you getting through these things?
-
Because the Lord is good.
-
He's working in me, working in this mind.
-
And he's gonna do it with the help of the Holy Spirit together, living according to his ways, in line with him.
-
Can I pray with you right now?
-
Let's do that.
-
Put them a head over a hand over your head.
-
And Father, I pray today that these minds ready?
-
Let this mind be thinking in accordance to the Holy Spirit.
-
Let this mind be in line with the Holy Spirit.
-
Today we surrender heart, soul, mind, and body.
-
Saying, in the name of Jesus, mind, come in line with the Holy Spirit's desires.
-
Mine, come in line, follow after the Holy Spirit.
-
Mine.
-
Let's think according to the Holy Spirit's.
-
Every suicidal thought, depressing thought, every thought not of you.
-
God, in the name of Jesus, we declare it is removed in Jesus' name.
-
Every thought of hatred and negativity and self-criticism and every thought, Father, that is that is against your will in the name of Jesus, you go.
-
Holy Spirit, here's my mind.
-
And with the word and the spirit, let this mind be renewed day by day.
-
For my desire is not to live following after the evil nature.
-
With the help of you, Holy Spirit, I will live following after you every day of our lives.
-
In Jesus' name we pray.
-
Amen.
-
Good Lord, a hand clap.
-
I am done.
