Still becoming more like Jesus Christ.

Say amen to that.

So Romans 12, uh do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

That is, be changed, be a changed person, become different by the by the changing of your mind, by changing the way you think, that you will prove what is that good, acceptable, and perfect will of God.

I believe I have the new living translation for you today.

I haven't shown you a different translation in a while.

Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.

So let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.

Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

So there's a goal that heaven has, a goal that our Father has to transform us, to change us, to make us into a new person.

And uh you may like you currently, and I like the current you, but what if the current you could be a better you?

Or I'll say it like this what if the current you could be a godlier you?

I think we should all sign up for that.

Look at your neighbor and tell your neighbor, I'll sign up for that.

All right.

And if you don't think you are, I'm gonna confess it over you this morning.

You're gonna you're gonna sign up for that.

A more godlier you.

Now, um I'm gonna kind of go a little different route today.

Let's go to James, and I'm gonna read to you a familiar portion of scripture, probably.

And uh you'll see where my heart's at here as we go through this morning.

Still on the topic of transformation and renewing the mind, changing the way we think so that we can become a new person, more like Christ.

Now, James 1, 2, 8, and uh a few weeks ago, I have to just say, um, this is what happens if you don't come to the Bible study.

Uh Sister Adam Hernandez brought a Bible study uh on James chapter 1 a few weeks ago, and I'll tell you right now, she did a wonderful job on James 1.

And as I was reading James 1 uh this past week, and a few weeks for a few weeks now, I thought to myself, I I don't think I don't think I could do better than Sister Adam did.

And I truly mean that.

So I'm gonna give it a we're gonna give it a shot today.

For those of you maybe think that Tuesday nights aren't doing nothing, you're missing out.

I'm telling you right now.

Now, James 1, verse 2.

James 1:2

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds.

So consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance, and let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding faults, and it will be given to you.

But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like the wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.

That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.

Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.

I think we're in week 26.

Father, we thank you for your word.

According to Acts 2.42, your word is received gladly.

According to Acts 19, 20, your word will prevail today.

According to Hebrews 4.12, your word is quick and powerful, and I pray, Lord, today, Father, that even as I stand here, the Spirit of my Father speaketh through me, according to Matthew 10, 20.

Lord, I ask you now, Father God, that you will give us a heart to hear ears to hear and a heart to receive, Father.

That the seed of your word take root in the soil of our heart, and we shall see the fruit of it in our lives, Father.

For Lord, you are the one speaking today, not I.

So use these lips of clay to speak your word with excellence and without error, for we gather together to hear the truth of your word and not the opinion of man.

And Father, as we are four weeks from opening kickoff day, I pray for the Chicago Bears.

I thank you that this is the year of the Super Bowl in Jesus' name.

Amen.

You've been saying it a long time, you Cowboys fans.

It's my turn now.

This is it.

I haven't said it ever.

So don't mock me because you're saying it every year.

This is it.

I'm gonna pray about it all season long.

This is the year.

Say amen to that.

You're gonna join me in this faith.

Can I ask you a question?

How many of us have ever had needs in our lives that we're praying for?

Raise your hand.

How many of us have breakthroughs that we're waiting for, believing God for?

Raise your hand today.

Don't let me hang you.

I'm not the only one.

How many of you, how many of you ever found yourself in a place where you came to the realization all I can do is trust God right now?

That's it.

No, I I mean really in that place where it's like, man, I I've cried, I've yelled, I I I've I've just I've done I've spent money, I've done everything I can.

All I can do, God, is trust you today.

Who really's been in that boat with me today?

Like God, like I I said all I could think of.

I've I've done everything I could think of, Lord.

Now, God, it's just up to you, God.

That's some a place in life sometimes where if you've never been there, I tell people, then you just haven't been living long enough, then.

Because we all get to that place.

Am I right?

Say amen to that.

We all get to some of us are in places like that right now.

If you are, say amen to that.

And I think we all are.

I am really under this conviction that God allows us all to have moments in seasons where it's like, son, daughter, you're just gonna have to trust me.

Like, like you're just gonna have to rely on me.

You're just gonna have to believe in me.

But there's good news.

When we're praying for breakthrough, and and we have needs in our lives and desires that we're praying for, things that we're longing for, we want to see done in the life, we want to see come to pass.

I'm waiting for God to move in certain areas amongst my family, amongst my marriage, amongst my children.

God, I'm just certain breakthroughs I'm waiting for that that God only you can do it, Lord.

I'm encouraged and I'm reminded to go back to Scripture.

And can I show you a few verses today?

Jeremiah 32, 17.

O sovereign Lord, you made the heavens and earth by your strong hand and powerful arm, and say it with me today.

Nothing is too hard for you.

Wow.

Next verse.

Can I show you one more?

Simple verse, Luke 137.

For with God, say it with me, nothing will be impossible.

If you believe it, give them a hand clap today.

And today, I'm honestly, I'm burdened, and I just have this as I was praying this week, and this was actually the second message that I wrote this week, because the first one I just wasn't at peace with.

And I was like, Lord, what do you what do you want to share?

What are you burdening me with here?

And I think today what the Lord was just wanting me to uh share with you and remind you today and tell you today, church, let us not forget we serve a powerful God.

Like a powerful God.

I mean, He can do anything, nothing is impossible for Him, nothing is too hard for Him.

Church, he made the sun, He made the moon, He made the stars, He made everything we say, He made you, He made me, He is God on the throne, undefeated, champion, cannot be competed against.

He is God, God alone.

Other gods have come and other gods have died.

People who claim to be God have come and they've died.

Church, there's only one God.

He is our God, Yahweh, El Shaddai, Jehovah Elohim, he is God and God alone.

So if you're wondering today what I'm excited about, I'm excited that I serve a God who can do anything in the name of Jesus.

He can do anything in the name from Genesis to Revelation.

You know what I learned?

He can do anything.

Absolutely anything.

From creation to parting a sea uh to saving a man in a fiery saving men in a fiery furnace to saving a man in a lion's den, to helping a little boy defeat a giant.

The list goes on and on and on because I tell you today, we serve a powerful God that can do anything.

And isn't it nice to know that this God is for us?

He's on our side.

He's on your side.

You ever been at the uh on the playground and you knew you're on the team that was no good?

No shame.

We're gonna lose, man.

I know this team.

I see you, you, you, you.

We're gonna lose.

But you're on the team that wins, amen.

You know why?

Because you have God on your side.

He is for you.

And by the way, don't leave him on the bench, get him in the game.

How?

Pray, seek him, call on him, say, God, I need you every day of my life.

Why?

Because he is for us.

I'm so grateful I'm on Team Jesus.

Are you grateful to be on Team Jesus today?

We're on Team Jesus.

And for the past few weeks, I I know, I know we have been kind of beating this drum, and it's it's all for purpose and it's all good.

I pray you agree with me.

We've been kind of beating this drum about the necessity of renewing our mind because we are in a war against sin.

And hear me, that war is real.

You were in a war against sin this past week.

You're gonna be in a war against sin today.

You'll be in a war against sin tomorrow.

The war doesn't stop because Satan doesn't stop.

He keeps coming and luring and tempting because we're in a world that tries to entice us and persuade us.

The war doesn't stop.

We're in this war, but with the help of the Holy Spirit, as we've been learning, and with transformation in our lives that is renewing the mind, we will see, we will see our behavior different, we will see our acting different.

So let's not take it lighthearted, this war against sin that we're in.

Remember, when Jesus died for us, when he saved us, he made warfare possible.

He didn't take us out of the war, he made warfare possible.

And I tell you today, as much as we've been emphasizing need to renew our minds so that we can win this war, change the way I think, change my perspective, change my mindset because I want to see transformation in my life.

Hear me today.

I want us to be careful, and here's the encouragement I have for you.

Put on the board.

I don't want us to be one-dimensional in our view of renewing the mind and transformation.

I just don't want us to see like this one part of it that, well, I need to renew my mind so that I can transform, so that so that I can just behave better and be better.

That's part of it.

Yes, I want to honor God and I need to renew my mind to do that.

I want to serve God with holiness and righteousness and walk in his ways, and I need to renew my mind to do that.

But but hear me, I'm learning this is that when we think of renewing the mind, there's more to it than just that, actually.

There's another facet to it.

There's another, I'll call it, dimension to it.

And here's what I want to tell you today that if we serve an all-powerful God who can do anything, if we serve an all-powerful God who is for us, then church, look at me.

We need to believe in him.

We need to have faith in him.

Say amen to that.

We we need to have that.

We can't just go about and thinking, oh, God's gonna do it.

No, no.

I need to have faith in him.

I need to believe in him, I need to speak that faith, declare that faith.

I I need to know his word and know that that word is giving me faith, producing faith in me, because I want to have the faith in this God.

I want to have a belief in my God, and that faith must be current, it must be present.

I have to have that faith.

But I'll be the first to admit, and maybe if you don't want to, that's fine.

Hey, sometimes it can be a struggle to hold on to that faith sometimes.

Sometimes it can be a struggle to hold on to that belief sometimes.

And here's what I'm trying to share with you.

Put on the board that renewing the mind can actually help us with many struggles in life.

It's not just this battle with sin, which is important, it's not just renewing the mind to become more like Christ, which is important.

It's not just renewing the mind so that I can see change in my behavior and the way I act, which is important.

I tell you today, there's different struggles in our lives that renewing the mind is gonna assist us in.

And to all of us here, don't look at me funny.

I think all of us here have had battles with our faith and belief at some point in our life.

Don't leave me hanging.

Have you ever had a battle with your faith and belief?

Raise your hand.

And if you didn't raise your hand, you're better than me, then, man.

I will be the first to admit I I've caught myself.

I I've literally said things like, that'll never happen.

Or that could never be.

I've said things like that.

Have you ever said things like that?

Have you ever given up?

Have you ever said words like there's no hope, man?

I'm guilty of those kind of things.

I'm there with you.

I've been in that place before where I suddenly, without even realizing it, I'm declaring unbelief and doubt.

Why would I say never?

Why would I say there's no hope?

Hear me, if I serve a God who can do anything.

Why would I say it can't be done?

Why would I say it's never gonna change?

If I serve a God who can do anything, and I will find myself without realizing it, thinking, maybe there is a little struggle with my faith and my belief, at least considering this matter that I'm in.

And I think to myself, where's that struggle at?

Where's that struggle with faith and unbelief taking place?

I tell you today, the struggle, hear me, is often in the mind.

It's right here.

In other words, put on the board, your faith is impacted by your mindset.

And hear me, I and we'll talk about this more next week, but it's funny because you can have a lot of faith for one thing and have no faith for another thing.

You can truly believe for one thing and find yourself not believing for other things.

That's a mindset issue.

There's a problem there, there's an issue within the mind that needs to be unpacked.

And James actually speaks of it a little bit here.

So we read James and we didn't just read it for fun.

I'll take you again to verse 5, next slide.

Look what he tells us.

If any of you lacks wisdom, what should you do?

You should ask God.

And God who gives generously to all without finding fault, he will be, it will be given to you.

Man, isn't God pretty cool?

But then verse 6 But when you ask, read it with me today, you must believe and not doubt.

Oh, wait, what?

You can actually ask and still have doubt at the same time?

You can ask and still have unbelief at the same time?

It says, here, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea blown and tossed by the wind.

That person, hear me, this this verse like struck me.

I never noticed it, and it's a simple thought.

Verse 7 that person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.

And at first you think, I thought we were just talking about wisdom.

Why does James say anything then?

You shouldn't expect to receive anything from him.

Not just the wisdom you're asking for, but anything else you're asking or need.

Hear me in verse 8.

Powerful statement.

Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.

I don't know about you.

Call me a lot of things.

Call me a jerk, call me a bozo, call me crazy.

Don't call me double-minded.

There's something about that double-minded, I'll be honest with you, it hits me weird.

What do you mean, double-minded?

And we'll get into that more next week, but I'm just gonna lay it out for you right now.

Don't be double-minded.

How profound of a statement, right?

Look at your neighbor and tell your neighbor, especially you, dummy.

And I'm just gonna tell them that.

Well, go ahead and tell your neighbor, don't be double-minded.

Tell your neighbor, don't do that.

Don't do that.

Just don't do that.

Don't be double-minded.

And some of you may think today, I'm not pastor.

We'll talk about it next week a little bit more.

Me?

Double-minded?

Listen, according to James, we are literally told, go to God.

If you need wisdom, go to God.

If you lack it, go to God.

Ask God.

However, do not doubt.

Do not have unbelief.

Ask believing.

Ask with faith.

Because the one doubting is like a wave.

Again, a little precursor next week.

Unpredictable.

Unstable.

High than low.

He's like a wave.

And then he says in the very end, you know what the issue is?

You know what the problem is with this person?

They're double-minded.

They have an issue in the mind.

I think to myself all the time, I'll be honest with you.

When I battle doubt and unbelief, I really prayed and said, God, help my mind with this unbelief.

Help my doubt.

Help my mind with this doubt that I'm battling.

And I and I submitted to you today that I hope we'll bring a little bit of insight into your heart and life today.

That when you see doubt and unbelief trying to creep up in your heart or in your life.

Be quick.

Look at me.

Be quick to lay hands on your head and begin to pray and say, Lord, this mind is battling and struggling right now with some doubt and unbelief right now.

There's a problem here.

Hear me.

As much word as I have in here, there's a problem.

As much as pastors encourage me and I receive it, there's a problem here.

As many good things as I've seen God do in my life, there's still sometimes a problem here.

How many have seen God do some good things in your life?

And yet, isn't it funny?

There can still be a problem here.

I think to myself, God, truly, my faith is impacted by my mindset.

So this is why I smile to you today and I let you know that renewing the mind and transformation, it's so vital.

And hear me, it's not one-dimensional.

There's much taking place when you renew the mind.

I'll submit to you like this, put it on the board.

Renewing the mind does not just produce right actions, transformation.

It doesn't just produce right actions.

Hear me.

Renewing the mind promotes and sustains a mature faith.

And church, I don't know about you, I don't want just any kind of faith.

I want a strong, consistent, mature faith.

I want a faith that that can speak to mountains and help me move.

A faith that if I lay hands on sick people, they're gonna be saved.

A faith that when I go to my house, I pray for peace and joy in my home.

And God, there's gonna be peace and joy in our home.

There already is, right, babe.

But there's gonna be more peace and joy in our home.

That that when that when I go out to speak to somebody with faith in my heart, that Lord, somehow the gospel is gonna touch their life and they're gonna be impacted by God.

I want a faith that is mature, that is strong.

Because hear me, within our minds, if there is anything within our minds that can bring down our faith, we gotta be careful about it.

Because listen, renewing the mind, again, it's not just about changing our behavior.

Renewing the mind has to do with even changing the way we believe.

Did you hear me?

Not just changing our behavior, changing the way we believe.

Say believe.

You believe for big things, how about believing for even bigger things in the name of Jesus?

If you believe for certain things that come to pass, God, I'm believing for it all, Lord.

And you know what?

If I die not seeing it, then I'll see it in heaven one day as I look down because that's how big my belief is.

I'm gonna see it come to pass because I just don't want to just change my behavior.

God, work on every part of this mind because hear me, hear me.

Work on every part of this mind, work on every part of my thinking process, work on every part of my thought process, work on every part of my mindsets, hear me, because I am not just renewing part of my mind, I want to renew my whole mind, all of my mind, every part of my mind, God renew it.

The front, the back, the side, the corners, every part of this mind, God, I want to see it renewed in the name of Jesus.

Every part of it, because hear me, I don't want just small transformation, I want a total transformation in Jesus' name.

Don't hear me.

Don't believe God for just small transformation in your life.

Our God does big things.

Let him do a big transformation in your life.

I mean, a transformation where even your spouse look at looks at you a year from now and says, Who are you?

And they do it in a good way.

Like, man, you're such a better husband, you're such a better wife.

Your children look at you, mom, you're a better mom, you're a better dad, and you'll know in your heart it wasn't you, it was God doing the work inside of you.

It was God helping you.

Look at me.

I know that may sound weird, but hear me.

I I not everyone knows my family's background, my dad didn't.

Wasn't always saved.

And trust me, I saw my dad before he was saved.

He was an awesome father, but I saw him before he was saved.

But I remember the moment it clicked in my head.

He's never heard me say this.

I remember the moment it clicked in my head.

I was about eight years old, and we were headed seven, eight years old, and we're headed to a baseball game, which we were constantly going to baseball games, which we love.

Actually, I need to stop speaking about baseball after what happened at the gender reveal, but that's another story.

We're headed to a baseball game.

And I remember at the baseball, he probably remember this.

At the baseball game, somebody was there was some people that were being very rude amongst like our team and stuff like that.

And I remember my dad just looks at them and says, Lord blessed them.

He wasn't this horrible man, but he wasn't the man that was blessing people who were being alright.

Like he had even going to church and he didn't even deserve, and he didn't even think it wasn't even all you're worshiping.

I remember thinking to myself, he's different.

Even your own family comes as easy as it is.

It's no longer I who live.

Christ who lives in me.

Total transformation.

And you know what?

Put on the board.

Part of the transformation of our lives is the transformation of our faith.

That's part of it.

That's part of it.

The things you would have never believed for or had faith for then, you believe for them now.

You have faith for them now.

One of the best examples I can think of, anybody, don't raise your hand, but if you have family that you look at and you think to yourself, my God, if you could save them, you could really save anybody.

Some of you raised your hand.

You're like, I know you have to raise your hand.

God, if you can save them, you can save anyone.

And it's like, Lord, I don't know, God.

Well.

You know what you need?

You need some more faith.

You need some more belief.

You need to begin to push out that doubt and say, God, in the name of Jesus.

I don't just declare they're saved, I see them saved in Jesus' name.

I see them worshiping you.

I see them serving you.

I see them praying for other people.

I see them laying hands on people.

I see them encouraging other people.

I see them with the Bible.

I see them at home reading their Bible.

I see them praying to you.

My God, I see it, Lord.

Church, let's get a faith that that's just saying, let's get a faith that sees it in the name of Jesus.

That I believe it so much that when I close my eyes, I see it happening in Jesus' name.

And I want to encourage you today and just close this up today by telling you if there's anything that is hindering our faith, there's anything that's kind of blocking or stalling the faith and belief in us.

Listen to me.

Admit it.

Just admit it.

Admit it to God.

Maybe admit it to a friend.

Admit it to your partner.

Admit it.

There's been some doubt and some unbelief in me in these areas.

But today, in the name of Jesus, hear me.

Let's expose it.

Let's confess it.

And let's start seeking the word of God so that our mindset can change.

Let's continue to renew our minds so that our mindset can change.

And hear me, we're gonna break down James 1 in the weeks to come, but we'll break it down for the next couple weeks.

But I'm burdened today to simply remind you once again as we close, why?

Why do I tell you if anything's hindering, get it out?

If anything's blocking, get it out.

Because I don't want you to miss out on the great things God can do in your life.

I don't want you to miss out on those prayers being answered, on those breakthroughs coming to pass.

Church, our God still does signs, miracles, and wonders.

We don't want to miss out on any of them.

I don't want to miss out on a single thing.

And by the way, and not just for my family, not just for my home, I don't want to I don't want you to miss out on it.

I want to see God move in your family, in your home, in your children, in your neighborhood, because what God does for you, he can do for me too.

So I have a mindset that has faith that God's not just gonna work in my life, he's gonna work in your life as well.

Look at your neighbor and tell your neighbor, God's gonna work in your life as well.

Tell your neighbor, tell your tell the other one, the one you, the neighbor you don't like, tell them too.

God's gonna work in your life too.

He's gonna work in all of our lives, and we're gonna see him do signs, miracles, and wonders.

If you believe that, I tell you today, nothing's gonna be impossible in Jesus' name.

So, my question is as we close, do you have a mindset full of faith and believing, or do you have a mindset that's questioning?

You have a mindset that's battling a little bit here, or and we'll talk more next week.

I believe for one thing, but this thing I'm having trouble for.

Church, I say today with a smile and remind you, we need to have faith.

We need to believe.

But hear me.

Not just for a moment, not just for a specific thing.

We need to have faith and believe at all times.

Every day.

Monday, I believe.

Tuesday, I believe.

Wednesday, my faith is strong.

Thursday, my faith is going.

Friday, my faith is still good.

Saturday, my faith is higher than Friday.

And on Sunday, if it's going down a little bit, today we refuel it in the name of Jesus.

A faith for every day.

So, what does that mean?

Renewing my mind, renewing my mind, renewing my mind.

I heard doubt today, I heard negativity today, I saw something today.

Hear me, how about this?

I saw something today that goes against the thing I'm believing for, but I'm not gonna allow what I saw to begin to bring doubt and unbelief in my life.

My faith is stronger, my belief is stronger.

I know the power of God is still operating.

So, church, we're not gonna give up.

God is still gonna be working in Jesus' name, He's still gonna be doing it in Jesus' name.

So, believe at all times.

Doctor said bad news.

I still believe.

They're walking out on me.

I still have faith.

Lost my job, it's still gonna be a good day.

Oh my god, all hell's breaking loose against me.

Well, thank God heaven is standing up for you in the name of Jesus.

Faith and belief at all times, at all times, say it with me at all times, every day, at all times, and hear me.

Why every day?

Why at all times?

Listen, because this doubt and belief doesn't quit, man.

It wants to come into your life every single day, every single day.

Something wants to try to bring doubt and unbelief into you.

It creeps up on you, it's not gonna go anywhere every day.

Reminder all the way back to the Garden of Eden.

What it's saying, Talive.

Did God really say doubt, unbelief brought questioning to her mind, telling her, did God really say?

So, church, I tell you today, we are in a war against doubt and unbelief.

Hear me?

We are in a war against doubt and unbelief.

You thought the war was just against sin?

Oh man, listen, hell's armies has all kinds of weapons, has all kinds of pawns, it has sin, and I tell you today, it has doubt and unbelief.

But in the name of Jesus, put it on the board.

We are gonna renew our mind, and renewing the mind is gonna prepare us to win the daily war against doubt and unbelief.

Why?

Because this word is more powerful than the lies of the enemy.

This word is more powerful than the strategies of the enemy.

This word is more powerful than every lie he's ever spoken to me or anyone around me.

Church, we have the word, we have Christ, we have the Holy Spirit, we have the Father.

Our army is loaded up, and we're gonna win this war in the name of Jesus Christ.

Not just today, but every day in Jesus' name.

Lift up a hand to heaven.

Father, I pray today doubt, you are gonna begin to be ceasing in our life.

Unbelief, you are gonna begin to be canceled in our life.

Close your eyes.

Some of you, you're battling this, you're fighting this.

Can God really do?

Can God really help?

Can God really save?

Can God really do something here?

In the name of Jesus, we join our faith together, we bring our trust in the Lord together.

And today we declare, God, nothing's impossible for you.

To everyone who is here today, I say, faith arise, hope arise, trust arise.

Never stop believing in the truth of God's word.

Get that word in you, and you're ready?

When that word gets in you, you're stronger.

When that word gets in you, you're gonna be ready.

When that word gets in you, like it is right now, you're gonna be able to go about every single day, not defeated, not weak, with victory, with strength, with encouragement.

Because once the word is inside of you, all things are possible to them who believe.

So today, in the name of Jesus, doubt you must go in the name of Jesus.

Unbelief, you must go in the name of Jesus.

Our minds are being renewed.

That means a transformation of faith is taking place in my life.

God, just don't change the way I act, just don't change the way I speak, just don't change the way I do.

God, change the way I believe.

I believe for small things, I'm gonna start believing for bigger things.

I believe for little things, I'm gonna start believing for greater things.

Because to our God, nothing is impossible.

So, Lord, let the impossible come to pass in the name of Jesus.

Work on this mind, go to work on this mind.

Put a hand on your mind real quick.

Let's close.

Mind line up with the word of God, mind believe what he says, mind believe what God has spoken, and mind you are told and spoken to today, that doubt and unbelief shall not linger.
