Revival Until the Kings Arrival

God is good. And I have one scripture that I

want you to go to with me. And it's, the subtitle

is called The Prophet's Prayer from the book

of Habakkuk. Or Habakkuk, I don't know. Some

people pronounce it Habakkuk, some Habakkuk.

I'll tell you what, we'll just call it Habakkuk

tonight. Is that alright? That's right. Chapter

3 and verse 2. I'm reading from the New King

James. Oh Lord, I have heard your speech and

was afraid. And here's the key part. Oh Lord,

revive your word in the midst of the years. In

the midst of the years, make it known. In wrath,

remember. For the next few moments, I'm going

to be speaking to you on the subject, Revival

until the King's arrival. Revival until the King's

arrival. How many of you believe that? You may

be seated in Jesus' name. I don't have to go

into much detail. To convince you or let you

know that we are living in very perilous times.

As a matter of fact, the Apostle Paul, when he

wrote to young Timothy, the pastor, he told him

that in the latter days, these would be perilous

times. We live in a very wicked world. We live

in a very dark world. I'm so glad that I came

to City Light Church. Because you are the light

in this city. You are the light in this community.

Amen. You're penetrating the darkness that surrounds

this city with the name of Jesus, with a powerful

gospel. And I am just anxious to see in the coming

days, weeks, months, and even years, if the Lord

tarries, to see what revival is going to happen

here and what it's going to produce. In Jesus'

name. Revival until the kings arrive. The devil

wants us to think that we have no influence whatsoever.

That we don't mean much in this world. That we

are, of course, in the minority. accomplish much

for Jesus. And that's where he's dead wrong.

The devil is a liar. The father of lies, Jesus

called him. We are going to have revival until

the King's arrival. I can see in this church

the prodigals coming back. I can see people lining

up to get baptized in Jesus' name. I can see

the Holy Ghost being poured out in an unprecedented

manner. I can see in this church signs, wonders,

and miracles occurring. And as the brother that

was directing service, he was... leading us in

worship and in praise, setting the atmosphere,

setting the tone for everything else that God

wants to do. If you read the book of Habakkuk,

in the first chapter, he's having a dilemma.

He's not understanding some things, but the enemy

is like beating up on Israel. They're having

a hard time. They're going through some stuff

that the prophet doesn't... I don't understand.

I thought we were your people. We're not going

to get into that. I'm going to give you some

homework. Go and read. It's only three chapters.

You're like, ooh, you're going to have to read

the Bible. Three chapters, bro. In chapter one,

the prophet is, he's disgusted. He is going through

a moment of pleasure, moment of depression. And

then he comes to chapter 2 and he says, Lord,

I have heard your speech. Because in chapter

2, God changes the tongue. He begins to speak

to Habakkuk in a more positive way. Isn't that

our God for you? God's not concerned about who's

in the White House. He's not concerned about,

you know, the government shut down. Because in

the kingdom, nothing was shut down. We might

have had a shutdown, but not in God's kingdom.

Anything can happen in Washington and all over

the United States and all over the world, but

God's in control. Jesus for a mighty move of

God. An unprecedented latter rain outpouring.

And so all of a sudden the prophet changes his

tune and he says, oh Lord, I have heard your

speech and I was afraid. And then he says, oh

Lord, revive your work. Bring revival in the

midst of the years. In the midst of the years,

make it known in wrath, remember. could pour

out indignation and wrath at any moment. He's

capable. He's almighty. He's all powerful. He

could bring down judgment all over this world.

But in wrath, he's remembering mercy. There is

a generation that still needs Jesus. And why

don't you and I focus on that generation tonight?

Why don't we say, Lord, those prodigals that

once were in in the Father's house, bring them

back. Hallelujah. And those souls that are lost,

bring them in, Jesus. In wrath, remember mercy.

And so, we the church, the body of Christ, the

salt of the earth, we're not the sugar of the

earth, we're the salt of the earth. City light.

Why don't you shine in this hour like never before?

Let your light shine for Jesus. Because in this

community, there are many lost souls. Some of

them don't even think they are lost. They don't

consider themselves as lost, but they are lost.

And you and I have Acts 2 .38 message that they

need. They may not Lord, Lord, I want revival.

I want to see revival. And in the 30 years that

we pastored that church, we saw revival. We saw

a church grow to over a thousand members. We

planted three additional churches. And from those

three additional churches, they planted churches

in Mexico and in Central America. We saw the

move of God. We saw signs, wonders, and miracles.

And if that could happen in Phoenix, it could

happen right here. to be shouting for you. I'm

going to be in the amen corner and laughing at

the devil. Because revival is coming. It's going

to come until the king's arrival. Hallelujah.

We're living in those times of revival. Where

God is doing things out of the ordinary. It's

not going to be church as usual. The pastor may

feel like preaching and then they're going to

sing. It's not a sin. He's going to grab the

microphone and say, we'll sing later. I've got

a word that I'm busting at the seams to share.

It doesn't matter how the service runs. The important

thing is that Jesus is in it. Amen. I believe

this church, beginning with your pastor, is sensitive

to the Holy Spirit. That's so key for revival.

The Lord wants to do the extraordinary. It's

not going to be church as ordinary. Church as

usual. wants the people here to be sitting on

the edge of their seats anticipating what's going

to happen next. Isn't that beautiful to come

to church with that attitude? You don't know

what God's going to do from one moment to the

next. But you do know that He's present with

outstretched hands to heal the sick. Restore

the backslider. Hallelujah. And save sinners.

When I pastored another church, I began to pray

for prodigals. Remember that, Scott? I said,

where did that come from? I just wanted to know.

When Saul's work prodigal started. I said, Lord,

restore the prodigals. I was in my And somebody

knocks on the door, a total stranger. He says,

are you the pastor? I go, yes, I am. I was driving

by your church and I heard the voice of God tell

me, go in there and give my servant the word.

This was the word. You have been praying for

prodigals to be restored. And in the next few

months, you're going to see it with your own

eyes. Pastor, we saw. We saw backslides that

nobody wanted. That were at one time in apostolic

churches. All padded out with tattoos. I didn't

care. Bring that man in, Jesus. I almost reached

a point in the church where I said, you need

a five tattoo limit to even be a national hero.

But in the church where we were in, they were

all tatted. But we didn't care because they fell

in love with Jesus. syndrome's got to go. He

hears the music and what's going on here? Haven't

you heard? Your little brother's back. And he

marches to his dad's office and goes, hey dad,

I want to talk to you. Listen, you never threw

me a party. I'm paraphrasing. You never threw

me a party. But this, your son, you didn't even

call him brother. This, your son, you killed

him. fatty calf and you're going to throw a party.

You know what the father says to his son? You've

always been here. In other words, he says, you

never asked. You never took advantage of what

was available to you. But this my son was lost.

But now he's found. many times one of our problems

is self righteousness Nice we look. Look at how

faithful we are. We don't need anything else.

We just need those doors to open with people

that have been kicked around by the world. That

are sick and tired of being sick and tired. And

marching through this aisle and coming to this

altar. That we can pray for them so they can

be refilled. the power of the Holy Ghost. Under

Pastor Anthony right now in Phoenix, we are seeing

backsliders come back. Entire families that at

one time went somewhere to church. They're calling

Pastor Anthony, what time is your service? We

need to be there. We're desperate. This is the

hour. This is the hour for revival. Reviving

the dead. Reviving those that are alive. Hallelujah.

Baptizing people with a burden. You have brothers

and sisters. You may even have parents, grandparents

that need Jesus. Well, they know where the church

is at. If they want to come, they can come. you're

going to see these pews fill up in no time. Because

we're talking about a revival until the King's

arrival. We won't take anything else. We want

revival. We want God to, a mighty move of God

that will stir this city. In 1995, while I was

pastoring there in Phoenix, I had a professional

sign made. The year of the harvest. Every once

in a while I would go, I like my sign. I love

that sign. 1995. You know how many baptisms we

had that year? Zero. I could hear the devil laughing

at me. And a few brethren. They would say, well,

our pastor's sincere, you know. Kind of. talking

out of his mouth and saying things that are not

practical or probable. I told him, go ahead and

laugh. You'll see. In 1996, we had 135 baptisms.

kept water in the baptistry. Because we were

saying, you know what? I remember preaching in

some churches and I had this kind of habit of

going like this. I would see hymn books, you

know, old Bibles back there. We would keep the

baptistry full. And brethren would say, hey,

Pastor, how come the baptistry is full? Because

we're going to be baptized at any moment. And

we did, and Pastor Anthony has too. This year,

there at Pastor Anthony Romo, we've had 58 baptisms.

You know, we're trying. Phoenix is the fifth

largest city in the United States. Do you know

that, Pastor Jake? Wow. Number one, of course,

is New York. Number two is Los Angeles. Number

three, Chicago. Number four is Houston. And number

five is Phoenix. God is challenging. But we're

meeting that. We want to meet that challenge.

I believe that if you're a city light. You can

meet that challenge. Get behind your pastor's

vision. When he speaks about revival. You get

in there. Say amen pastor. We believe it. We're

with you. Get into the worship. Don't sit and

say, well, they're not singing my favorite songs.

They're not for you. First and foremost, they're

for Jesus. And He loves them. He loves them.

Do you remember that one service, honey? Where

we had an interpretation in tongues and the Lord

says, where's my incense? The Spirit of God is

speaking in loud tones. Where's my incense, church?

We fell and we wept and we asked God for forgiveness.

He would say, where's my incense? In other words,

he would say, where's my worship? Where's my

praise? You know, he relishes praise and worship.

He loves it. That's why... We have to come to

church with an attitude of gratitude. You come

in here, you don't think about what your boss

is going to say on Monday. Who cares? He's going

to yell anyways. You come in here with a grateful

heart. With a worshipful spirit. The happiest

people in church, I've discovered, are the worshipers.

Are the praisers. with them. Everything is all

positive because they're worshipers. They're

praisers. They're not focusing on sister so -and

-so's problems, brother so -and -so's situation.

They're not focusing on any of those things,

what's happening in the other church, what's

happening down the road. They come to worship

and praise Jesus. That's all that matters to

them. And what you will do is, God says, I can't

help but bless this church. I can't help but

heal the sick today. I can't help but heal people

with the Holy Ghost today. Speaking in other

tongues. I can't help but restore backsliders.

I can't help but heal and save that entire family

in the back row. We're the salt of the earth.

We're not the sugar of the earth. We're the salt

of the earth. Salt causes thirst. In Bible times,

salt was an antiseptic. They didn't have medicines.

They would pour salt on wounds. It would sting,

but it would cure and heal. Praise God. I remember

going to Chicago in the cold of winter, I don't

know what got into me. I accepted an invitation

to preach. Oh my God, 50 below zero. I got to

Arizona, think about it. And they were throwing

salt on the roads. What in the world? What's

going on here? Salt causes the snow to melt.

I said, what an analogy. City Light Church, you're

salt. Create a thirst. And your job. I used to

be an automotive machinist. Before I went full

time in the ministry. We used to work in an engine

rebuilding place. We would rebuild tons of engines.

And they were delivered all over the United States.

And I would have the opportunities. there to

witness to my co -workers, to my bosses. Do you

remember the search for truth charts? Do you

know what that is? Have you ever seen those or

remember them? I had a big one and a miniature

one. I would take the miniature one to work.

And I would tell the guys, listen, you eat your

burritos and let me teach you the word of God.

I had like seven or eight guys just eating their

burritos and hearing me teach a word of gospel.

I got to take them to church. When I was called

to full -time ministry right after that, after

what, 13 years of working there, my boss comes

down to the office and goes, friend, what's this

right here? I go, he was a Jew. Mr. Warner, yeah,

you heard right. I'm leaving. raise I don't know

you need new tools do you need a promotion I

go no Mr. Warner I have to take this step because

I'm called to ministry it's Frank he goes it's

too bad that I have to wait so many years to

tell you you're one of the best employees we've

ever had let's do this Frank okay Mr. Warner

what do you have what do you want to say in fact

Ministry deal out there doesn't work out. Come

back. You'll always have a job. I'll get you

those new tools. I'll make sure you get a promotion.

I said, Mr. Warner, I don't think so. I walked

away never to come back. Because I had a calling.

And I feel like the Holy Ghost right now to tell

somebody, you have a calling. And kind of you've

been running from that calling. You've been hiding

from that calling. Your pastor needs you. And

you've been shunning it. You've been saying,

well, you know, it's not me. It's somebody else.

It's you. If you will heed the call, you'll see

how God will give you the anointing and the kiss.

power to be used. Praise God. You're looking

right here at a volume guy. I grew up in the

volume. I used to sell drugs in high school.

In the 70's I had hair down here. That was a

style. I never even imagined that I could amount

to anything. I was baptized at the age of 19

without even knowing one time to church. I had

never been to church before. My parents got baptized

in February. I got baptized in March. But the

night that I went, I told my mom, God, those

girls wear those long dresses. That's too bad.

the girls for. And mom, what's that thing they

wear on the beds? It's called a veil. Okay. But

that night, the Holy Ghost got a hold of me.

March the 24th, 1973. Some of you weren't even

born yet. I was baptized in the name of Jesus.

A few months later, I got filled with the Holy

Ghost at youth camp. Which meant that I got a

free camp the following year. That was cool.

That same year, my pastor felt led to sit me

aside to the ministry. He calls me into his office.

I want to talk to you. Whoa, what did I do? I

began to think, what did I do wrong to deserve

a trip to the office of a pastor? Sit down. my

pastor was in those days. He said, you know that

I've been praying for you. Thank you. Let me

explain. You keep popping up into my mind about

ministry. What is that? I didn't even know what

it was. What is that? We're going to set you

aside. What does that mean? And later on I told

somebody, I'm going to get set aside. They're

going to put you on layaway? Nice! I go, is that

another way of saying it? They're going to put

me on layaway? I got set aside. I'm with my father.

We both walked the same time together. And then,

because we had elections. That's kind of a passe

now. And that's okay. The pastor knows who's

qualified and who isn't. I got elected the youth

president. And in that time of youth president,

I saw this young lady right here. Sister Stella.

Raised in church. With her nice standards. And

I would say, Lord, I need somebody like that.

I became the president, she became the secretary.

Done deal. Mind you, I was baptized in 1973.

We were married in 1976. Which means we've been

married 49 years. Because ministry is not a piece

of pie. It's not easy. Because there's a devil

that's always looking. Over my dead body, you're

going to have revival. Over my dead body, you're

going to reach your community. Over my dead body,

you're going to reach your relatives. You know,

the day after I got baptized, the devil With

liquor and drugs. Frank! Let's go. I go, where?

You know. You know you love drugs. You love alcohol.

I used to. Not anymore. What happened to you?

What happened to your long hair? Going to the

army? I want to get back with you. I don't. And

I tell him, I'm in love with somebody else. Who

is she? And I make the mistake of saying, it's

not a she, it's a he. Wrong answer. But I fixed

it up. The he is Jesus. Hallelujah. I became

a fanatic, man. I wasn't the kind of Christian

that just went up to the river and dipped their

toes in there. I did belly flops. I would tell

people, get out of the way. You know, I've learned

that that's the only way to serve the Lord. criticized.

You know, I may lose some friends. Really? Are

those really your friends? You do what the Lord

is telling you. And in this revival, God is already

speaking tonight. There's somebody. Let go and

let God have His way. If you were talking about

a revival until the King's arrival, folks, and

the Holy Ghost. With signs, wonders, and miracles.

I can tell you in my travels I've seen so many

miracles, so many signs, so many wonders. I have

about 70 pictures of children that were not supposed

to be born. That when I prayed for those women,

they send me pictures later of those babies.

I was preaching for a friend of mine in Tijuana,

Mexico. Richard Veloso. That name rings a bell

to anybody? Young pastor. I preached in his church

and all of a sudden I looked at his wife and

I said to her in the Holy Ghost, Sister, you've

lost several children. You've had two miscarriages.

I didn't even know. But this time, those children,

plural, that are going to be born, you're not

going to miscarry. I said to myself, after the

service, why did you say children, plural, in

my humanity? Come to find out, she gave birth

to twins. They were so excited and happy that

when those twins were born, they invited inviting

me back, and I dedicated them to the Lord. That

was like 14 years ago. We've seen people get

out of wheelchairs. I was preaching in a small

church in Texas, and all of a sudden this brother's

in a wheelchair going, brother, how long have

you been in that wheelchair? 12 years. Do you

want to get up? He goes, of course, then get

up. And he gets up. stop preaching right there,

but we church. And you know, at City Light Church,

God wants to do the same thing. We've seen cancer

victims completely healed. Paralytics. All kinds

of diseases and sicknesses. Well, I'm supposed

to be a dead man for those of you that didn't

know. I'm not even supposed to be here because

of what happened in 2015. The pulmonary embolism

in my leg went to my lungs and produced cardiac

arrest. I flatlined in the emergency room three

times. The doctors told my wife he's going to

die. He's not going to die. I couldn't hear anything.

I couldn't see anything. I wish I could tell

you, you know what? All of a sudden, I went through

the middle. I heard angels playing horns. I heard

angelic voices. I didn't hear or see anything.

And that disappointed some brethren afterwards.

What? Oh, okay. I'm alive! or not, I'm alive.

Get excited. But the Lord healed me. One doctor

told my wife, if he lives, which we doubt, he

won't walk, he won't speak, and he won't have

brain function. I talk more now than ever. and

the nurses were clapping. Behold the miracle,

the walking miracle. didn't do it soon. Thanks.

Young lady, young man, surrender to the Lord.

There's a ministry waiting for you. There's an

anointing waiting for you. There's a calling

upon your life. Don't worry if it's not this

great calling, this great evangelist. Because

we're enamored with that kind of stuff. I want

to preach at a convention. I want to sing at

a convention. That could happen, but if it doesn't

happen, don't worry about it. You shine where

you're planting. You do what you're planting.

My wife doesn't talk much. She's a soft -spoken

woman. Not at home. Just kidding. Just kidding.

when she ministers to the ladies and the young

lady, watch out. I just feel a burden right now

for the young people that are here. Surrender.

In this revival, surrender. I want to hear about

a young man or a young lady in this revival.

You know what? I've had it. I want to go in a

different direction. You've chosen the right

place and the right time to do it. Where's the

preachers? Where are the potential preachers?

Are you here? The potential teachers. The potential

leaders. You're here. It's just somebody told

you, well, you know what? Nobody in our family

has ever been a minister. Nobody in our family.

So you can forget it. Don't forget nothing. You'll

be the first one in your family to step into

this dimension of ministry and calling. And like

I said, the only thing you're going to regret

is that you didn't do it sooner. I turned my

church over to Pastor Anthony. He's my pastor.

My son. When he introduces me, I don't say, thank

you, son. I go, thank you, pastor. And they call

me bishop. I haven't been a bishop since the

mid -90s. In function, anyway. But they all call

me bishop out of respect. And I don't feel belittled.

I don't feel like... Well, I'll share something

with you. When I first retired, Almost four years

ago, on a Tuesday, I needed to go get something

that I had left in my old office. And I saw cars

parked out there. So I go, what's going on here?

Oh, they're having their meeting. Remember those

meetings? I go, and they didn't invite me. And

she goes, you're done. You're through. Deal with

it. I have no quarrels. I have no regrets. I'm

happy. I turn it over to the right person. I

handed the baton to my son. Here you go, son.

It's your turn now. Hallelujah. One of these

days, if the Lord tarries, Pastor Jacob Rodriguez

is going to turn the baton to one of you. Are

you going to be ready to receive it? Are you

going to be responsible to receive that baton?

Because in a relay race, every runner is important.

Every runner in a relay race is important. You

can get disqualified just like that. Or passing

out a turn, stumbling, dropping the baton, overrunning

the situation. But when you're in the right place

at the right time, Run. Anthony, Pastor Anthony

is running the race right now. Him and his wife,

Aiko, and their family. Pray for them. They have

a tremendous desire to see the kingdom of God

grow in Phoenix, Arizona. But we're here at City

Light Church challenging a few folks here tonight.

He said, well, I don't have enough experience.

I didn't have any experience. The church that

I pastored for 30 years, when the president of

the assembly called me, we want you to take the

Phoenix Church. You know what my response was?

I'm comfortable for a man. And in those days,

they were more hardcore than today. They didn't

meet around the bush. Right, sister? She knows

what I'm talking about. He goes, he pauses and

then he says, God didn't call us to be comfortable.

I go, hey, you're right. And then I thought,

you're the boss. You're the president of the

assembly. I'm arguing with the boss? He goes,

I'll go, just let me let my wife, I want to let

my wife know. I want to let my wife know. He

goes, no! Because see, that's the church we came

out of as young people. And now we're going to

go back to pastoring? The day of the transfer,

this older minister comes up to me and goes,

instead of saying welcome, we're going to be

praying for you. He goes, we'll see how long

you last here. I go, thanks for those words.

They were challenging to me. I didn't accept

them as a defeat, as a put down. I accepted them

as a challenge. Because a few years later, that

preacher sat in my office sharing marital problems

that he was having. And then a year later, I

preached his funeral. Listen, be careful that

you don't speak out of turn. And especially about

the Lord's anointing. We're not supposed to speak

against the Lord and do the prophets no harm.

And you have a man here that's leading you to

greener pastures. You don't think he has moments

of doubt? Moments of let down? Along with his

wife and family? The pastoral family is not perfect.

God gave us four kids. Three girls and one boy.

And they would do pastor's days and yeah, they

would get their gifts. But there were times when

my kids would go, what are we doing here, Dad?

The brothers want us to be perfect. I don't know

why I'm going in this direction. Is that okay?

And they would put down our kids. They would

speak against our kids. And they would come crying

to us. I said, don't worry. a part of the job.

It's all part of us. Don't worry about it. We're

going to be okay as a family. Not everybody understands.

Well, the children and the pastors would be this

way. Let me ask you the million dollar question.

How good are your kids? Uh -oh. Come on. They're

not perfect. I'll tell you what, though. I baptized

all four of my children in Jesus' name. And now

they're in ministry with their spouses. I baptized

our first granddaughter, Nevaeh. She's 17, full

of the Holy Ghost. And being used by God. My

grandchildren are fifth generation apostolic.

My children are fourth generation apostolic.

My wife and I are third generation apostolic.

Our parents were second generation apostolic.

Our grandparents were first generation apostolic.

You can't get it better than that. But it takes

a commitment. It's not a popularity contest.

We could care less what people think. I used

to tell the people all the time, you know what?

I don't lose an hour of sleep about how you feel

about me. I am going to sleep and I'm going to

snore. I'm going to snore it up tonight. And

I'm not trying to be sarcastic. I'm just saying,

you know what? It does us no good. Pastor Jacob

pacing to the floor, honey, at midnight, at one

in the morning, what are we going to do? How

are we going to get out of this jam? How are

we going to get out of this situation? Listen,

I would tell the pastor, if you sleep, pastor,

you deserve it. Revival is coming. to be poured

out on the priests and prophets, there was a

crushing. A crushing. In the New Testament, it's

the same way. There has to be a crushing. If

you want to go to the next level, you have to

be crushed. Oh, but how sweet it is. How good

it is. Brother, I feel like telling you something.

I don't know you. You really don't know me. But

I just felt right now. You're going through crushing

right now. Am I correct? You're going through

crushing and it kind of confuses you because

you're a dynamic worship leader. But God is stirring

some new things. some greater things in your

life. Don't be afraid of that. Don't back off

and say, Lord, what do you know? Say, Lord, here

I am. Praise God. The crushing has to occur in

order for the anointing to flow. And that's what

God is. Is this your wife? Both of you. You're

going through a moment of crushing right now.

But the enemy's self is going to be good. Anybody

else going through a crushing moment here? You,

sister? I don't even remember you. You used to

be in all the end times, huh? You've heard me

preach a bunch of times, huh? Please. I hope

I wasn't too boring. I remember her from day

one, a worshiper. But you've had some brokenness,

right? And some of the people that I know that

are the greatest worshipers are the ones that

have been through the greatest brokenness in

their lives. Not everybody has got, you know,

$20 an hour job and a nice car and a nice home.

Everybody loves him and pats him on the back.

It's not always them. Sometimes there's broken

people that have to pick up the pieces of their

lives. But the Lord anoints them with fresh white.

How many of you need a fresh anointing? the bottle

of oil on the pulpit. I picked it up, opened

it up. It stunk. I told him, I should throw this

away. It's a stale. And the Lord spoke to me.

He goes, that's how some of the people are. Frank

Romo, don't you ever become like that. I want

to anoint with fresh oil. And I've come to tell

you in this revival, God wants to anoint us with

fresh oil. So that we can have arrived. You know

why you're singing so good, brother? Because

you're going through the crushing. These folks

don't know what you're going through. But you

do. And there's moments in your ministry where

you say, God, I don't feel like singing. But

then you get up there, it just flows. And people

will come That song just did it for me. I needed

that song so badly. And you're like, God, they

don't even know what I'm going through. Sometimes
