Joshua chapter 1 and verse 1, we're continuing
Joshua 1 chapter mention
-
our Back to the Future series. It reads this
-
way. We'll read here, and then we got a verse
-
to read in the New Testament. But here in Joshua
Joshua 1 chapter mention
-
chapter 1 and verse 1, it reads, After the death
-
of Moses, the servant of the Lord, it came to
-
pass that the Lord spoke to Joshua, the son of
-
Nun, Moses' assistant, saying, Moses, my servant,
-
is dead. Now therefore arise, go over this Jordan.
-
Someone say Jordan. You and all this people to
-
the land which I am giving to them, the children
-
of Israel. And every place that the sole of your
-
foot will tread upon, I have given you as I said
-
to Moses. Now I'm going to skip to the New Testament,
-
Galatians. Chapter 3 and verse 29. Galatians
Galatians 3 chapter mention
-
3 and verse 29. And this one verse reads, and
-
if you are Christ, then you are Abraham's seed
-
and heir. Everyone say heir. According to the
-
promise. Amen. I've got a pretty cool title for
-
my message today. I've been waiting to share
-
it all week. Today I'm going to preach on this
-
thought, Air Jordan. I got a little wardrobe
-
change here. Hold on. All right. Maybe I should
-
have announced it to everybody. I thought if
-
I'm going to preach about. Crossing my Jordan,
-
I might as well wear them. Give God a hand of
-
praise. Is that all right? I might as well wear
-
them. You may be seated in the house of God.
-
Next time I promise to let you know when we're
-
going to have another Air Jordan service so you
-
all can join me. But I thought it would be fitting
-
to give you. an idea of what God is wanting to
-
do in in our lives and I feel really comfortable
-
right now I might preach a whole hour who knows
-
the scene before us is a vibrant one in scripture
-
and it's very familiar because what we see is
-
a very important transition in Israel's history
-
as they are now going from tent dwellers to land
-
owners from Vagabonds to heirs of divine promise.
-
This is a critical point in the journey of God's
-
people. Forty years spent in the desert, circling
-
and going through the motions. And during that
-
period of time, of course, they experienced many
-
things we read about. In Deuteronomy and Exodus,
-
we read about these things. But during that period
-
of time, a whole generation disqualified themselves
-
from being able to enter in. And so once that
-
generation passed, a new generation arose. It
-
was Joshua's generation. And we see a very...
-
prominent transition in leadership, prominent
-
transition in the mindset of God's people as
-
they are preparing to step into new territory.
-
A generation that had known nothing but desert
-
wandering and makeshift living is about to step
-
into something that is permanent, something that
-
is lasting, something that is sustainable. And
-
adding to this moment was the fact that Moses,
-
the towering leader of Israel's past, is now
-
gone. That familiar voice that they were so accustomed
-
to hearing on a day -to -day basis. legendary
-
figure in Israel's history, the one who called
-
plagues down from heaven, the one who parted
-
the Red Sea. We know that it was God that worked
-
through him. Nevertheless, he was the central
-
figure that led God's people, and so he was very
-
prominent, very important to the nation of Israel
-
in that time. In fact, his shoes were so big,
-
I don't think anybody could have stepped into
-
them. And to that end, they were struggling to
-
accept what was taking place before them. They
-
were struggling. They were in a state of bewilderment.
-
They were stunned and frozen in transition, unable
-
to take that next step. struggling to accept
-
the idea of moving forward without their trusted
-
leader. And perhaps they just could not imagine
-
what a future would look like without Moses.
-
Maybe they couldn't fathom what life would be
-
like without him. 40 years plus with this man
-
of God at the helm, they couldn't figure out
-
how tomorrow would look like without this leader.
-
guiding the way. And they were left with many
-
doubts and many questions about this new generation
-
that was rising up, particularly Joshua. Even
-
though he had learned and grown up under the
-
mentorship of Moses, he was still new. He was
-
untested in many ways. And so for that reason,
-
and for many others, they got stuck. at a very
-
familiar place, at a place where their ancestors
-
had come before, right there on the edge of the
-
promised land, right there near water's edge
-
of that Jordan, and they got stuck there. And
-
it seems as if, though, they forgot what this
-
was all about. They forgot that God didn't call
-
them just to go on a journey, but he called them
-
to arrive. Can I tell you today, God called you
-
to arrive. God didn't call us just to go in circles
-
and just go in cycles and just walk and walk
-
and walk and never arrive. God, he has called
-
all of us to arrive. There is a destination.
-
And I know we say things like, well, it's not
-
about the journey or not about the destination,
-
right? It's about the journey. Well, I come to
-
tell you, it's not just about the journey. It's
-
about the destination. We got to get there. Someone
-
say, I got to get there. I can't just circle
-
around this thing. We got to get there. they
-
seem to have forgotten or at least lost sight
-
of the ultimate goal as they were on the edge
-
of the Jordan River, and they just couldn't quite
-
move forward. They were stuck. They were stuck.
-
And I wonder if somebody today knows that feeling,
-
if you've ever been stuck before, if you've ever
-
been stuck in an emotion that you... are experiencing
-
stuck in a feeling uh stuck in a bad habit stuck
-
in a mentality uh stuck in some sort of circumstance
-
that you thought that by now you might be uh
-
beyond stuck in a season that that is Calendar
-
-wise, it's over, but you're still stressing
-
out as if though you're still there. It's still
-
stressing you out. You're long past that season
-
or that relationship or that phase of your life,
-
but somehow it's still influencing the way you
-
make decisions. It's still influencing the way
-
you love and the way you let people in. It's
-
still influencing how you go about your daily
-
life, how you pray and how you worship and how
-
you do the things. that you're supposed to do,
-
it's still influencing. You're just kind of stuck.
-
And sometimes we get to those places and we don't
-
even know why we're stuck anymore. We don't know
-
why we haven't grown to the next level, why we
-
haven't seen the fruition of God's promises in
-
our life. And we're just stuck. We're just stuck.
-
We're just unable to take that next step. It's
-
not that we don't know what it is. Sometimes
-
it's right there in front of us. But for one
-
reason or another, we can't just muster up whatever
-
faith. We need to take that step. We don't need
-
another Bible study about it. We don't need another
-
PowerPoint. We've seen all the reels. We've seen
-
all the graphics. We don't need a chart. We don't
-
need a Genesis to Revelation explanation. We
-
know already that there is this next level that
-
we need to take. But for reasons beyond our control
-
at times or for surroundings, we just get stuck.
-
I don't know if anybody has ever felt like that
-
in your life. This is where Israel was. This
-
is where they were. And that's why before God
-
told Joshua what to do next, he first had to
-
declare something that was so obvious to everybody.
-
He says, Moses is dead. Moses is dead. And this
-
is like one of those things where when you hear
-
it, it's nothing new, everybody. Everybody knew
-
that Moses was dead. But you know, sometimes
-
we don't need like a new and lofty revelation.
-
Sometimes we just need to be reminded of something
-
that is factual. Sometimes we need to be brought
-
back to our senses, not with some new revelation.
-
Ooh, that's something, man, I've never heard
-
it explained like that before. Man, the way that
-
I've never heard it like that. Sometimes we don't
-
need something brand spanking new. Sometimes
-
we need to be brought back to a realization that
-
the thing that you've been holding on to, the
-
thing that you've been stressing about, the thing
-
that's got your gears locked up, that thing is
-
over. Sometimes the greatest truth is not some
-
new revelation, but a realization. Of what God
-
has already done. Of a chapter he's already closed.
-
Come on, preach with me here today. Of a debt
-
that he's already canceled. Of a sin that he's
-
already forgiven. Of a threat in your life that
-
he's already removed. You're worried and stressed
-
and anxious about things that God has already
-
dealt with in your life. And I've come today
-
under the unction of the Holy Ghost to tell you
-
that it's all right to move on. Give God a hand
-
of praise right now. Hallelujah. God sent me
-
here today with an anointed assignment to tell
-
you it's all right. I give you permission. Take
-
that next step. You don't got to feel sorry about
-
it. You don't have to feel apologetic. Sometimes
-
we don't take that step because we feel that
-
by doing so, it sends a message to others around
-
us that we think we're better than them because
-
we're moving on. No, you moving on is not an
-
indictment on others who have not. It's you taking
-
ownership and responding to God's call in your
-
life and say, I don't have another year to waste.
-
Come on now. I don't have another month to waste.
-
I can't let another service go by. I can't let
-
another sermon. I can't let another opportunity
-
pass me by. This is the moment that God has placed
-
in front of me. And instead of looking at others
-
and what they're going to do, hey, are we all
-
going to like hold hands and jump at the count
-
of three? No. Sometimes you got to jump on your
-
own, my friend. But to get unstuck and get beyond
-
your Jordan, there are some things that we need
-
to do. Number one, you got to let. You got to
-
let old things pass away. You got to let old
-
things. Someone say old things. I like the song
-
we were singing, we got a new thing coming. But
-
some of you, you kept saying, I got an old thing
-
coming. I got an old thing coming. Because you
-
don't want to let go. That's not what the song
-
says. And that's not what scripture teaches us.
-
God's announcement. is that Moses is dead. And
-
it was a strong declaration that yesterday is
-
over. As great as Moses was, and we're not putting
-
him down. We're not trying to minimize or diminish
-
who Moses was and what he contributed. No. He
-
was a great man. But the fact of the matter is,
-
God has moved on. And where are we stuck where
-
God has moved on? It's like those that showed
-
up to the empty tomb. with their spices and to
-
worship, and the angel announced to them, he's
-
moved on. Sometimes we show up to places that
-
God has already moved on from. He's already on
-
to the next thing. He's already on to the next
-
person. He's already on to the next area of ministry
-
that he wants to use you in. So as great as Moses
-
was, he was gone and it was over. And that era
-
was marked, that era of Moses. And I feel bad
-
for him because he himself never got to step
-
in. He only sought from a distance. God allowed
-
him to see it with his eyes, but he never got
-
to step into the land that was promised to his
-
forefathers because he led a group of people
-
that for the most part most part they were spiritually
-
sick. They were disobedient and rebellious and
-
criticizing and they were ungrateful and they
-
were full of anger and then mostly they were
-
unbelieving for what God can do despite the miracles
-
that God had done through them, bringing them
-
through the Red Sea and feeding them manna from
-
heaven, leading them with a pillar of fire by
-
night and a cloud by day. all the miracles God
-
did, and still they were unbelieving. And these
-
are attitudes of the old nature. These are attitudes
-
of the flesh. These are attitudes of who you
-
used to be. But God is saying to us today that
-
season is over. Somebody say it's over. Like
-
Israel, God did not bring you to the edge of
-
promise just so that you can carry your old nature,
-
your old habits. You're all thinking into a new
-
season. God didn't bring you this far so that
-
you can carry that baggage into the next season.
-
Amen. Sometimes when you go places, you got to
-
get new things. One time I went on a trip and
-
they lost my baggage. Man, I don't know if that's
-
ever happened to you. But you know what? God
-
turned it into a positive thing. Because I bought
-
a whole new wardrobe. Praise be to God. Sometimes
-
it's a good thing when you lose your baggage.
-
Because I got something new for you to wear.
-
Some of you are thinking right now, man, when
-
I show up, I'm just going to lose everything.
-
So I can go to Macy's or Norsum's and hook myself
-
up and get a brand new. No, no, no, but sometimes
-
you've got to put on something new for where
-
you've got to put on Christ, got to put on a
-
new mentality. The old is out, out with the old,
-
in with the new. Those old cycles have got to
-
be broken. That old mindset has got to be renewed.
-
And let me tell you something. There's something
-
important that we cannot miss about this stage
-
of their journey, about how they're about to
-
go into it. As much as they loved what had happened
-
or as bad as it was or as good as it was, I call
-
it. the good, the bad, and the ugly. All of it
-
has got to be let go or else they cannot step
-
into where God is calling them to. The Bible
-
says this in 2 Corinthians 5 and 17. If anyone
-
is in Christ, he is a new creation. All things
-
have passed away. Behold, all things. Someone
-
say all things. All things have become new. If
-
you want to be new, if you want to be in Christ,
-
if you have yet to surrender your life to Christ
-
and say, I want that newness, I want to be new
-
and totally new, then this is the first step.
-
You've got to be born again of the water and
-
of the Spirit. You need to get your name written
-
in the book of life. You need to surrender, amen,
-
and be baptized in Jesus' name. name for the
-
remission of your sins. Hallelujah. So that those
-
old things can pass away and so that that old
-
man can be buried. If you want to step into the
-
newness, the first thing you got to do is bury
-
the past in the waters of baptism. I'm talking
-
to somebody here today and be born again of the
-
water. Is there anybody here today that's been
-
born again of the water and of the spirit? I
-
thank God. that when I went down in the mighty
-
name of Jesus Christ on that day, that when I
-
went down in the water, my old self, my old life,
-
my old mind, my old flesh, and my nature was
-
buried with Christ. And when I came up, my God,
-
I get excited. When I came up out of the waters,
-
I left that life at the bottom of the pool. I
-
left that life. Is there anybody a witness in
-
the house of God today? Woo, come on. How many
-
of you are glad that your sins have been washed
-
away? Thank you, God, of my sins. Every blemish,
-
every sin, every iniquity, every transgression
-
has been washed away in that watery grave. Don't
-
jump back in the pool for stuff that God has
-
already. Go fishing in the sea of forgetfulness.
-
Don't try to fish out things that God has already
-
buried in the water. The apostle Paul taught
-
us in Romans 6, we were buried. Somebody say
-
buried. We were buried with him through baptism
-
unto death. When you are baptized in the name
-
of Jesus Christ, you are buried with Christ.
-
You are symbolically. paralleling or mirroring
-
the steps, reflecting what Christ did in the
-
Gospels by being dying and being buried and being
-
resurrected to new life. And if there's somebody
-
here today that is contemplating and you hear
-
that call and hear this today, let this be God's
-
announcement to your life that this is the day
-
of salvation. God wants to save you. You, young
-
man, young lady, God wants your name to be written
-
in the book of life. God wants to bury the past
-
and bring you up into new life. It's for you.
-
But how about those of us that have already been
-
to the waters and have already been baptized?
-
What about us? Well, then you've got a responsibility
-
to remain in Christ. Because every day you wake
-
up, my friend, it's a choice to put on Christ.
-
It's a choice. If you can put him on, you can
-
take him off. Oh, Lord, help us when we wake
-
up some days and we don't put him on. I don't
-
want people to see me. I want them to see Christ.
-
And the only way that's going to happen is I
-
got to put him on. Got to put on Christ. Got
-
to remain in Christ and stand firm in the newness
-
of your identity. And don't let those old habits,
-
because the enemy will try to cause you to slip
-
back to where you came from. He'll try to sneak
-
in old lies and old habits creeping back into
-
your life. You need to remember, saint of the
-
living God, you need to remember you are a child
-
of God now. Hello, somebody. I said, you're a
-
child of God now. You're not just anybody. You're
-
the seed of Abraham. Oh, my God. You're the son
-
of the most high. Let me tell the ladies in here,
-
you're not just a woman. You're a woman of God.
-
You're a, oh, my Lord. You're a daughter of the
-
king. My God. You're somebody special. Men, you're
-
not just a man. You're not just a dude. No, you're
-
a son of God. Hallelujah. child of God. You're
-
a son of the king. You're a prince. Hallelujah.
-
And so since we have now received Christ and
-
have been born again and having our sins that
-
were a scarlet made white as snow, we have now
-
been called to a life of sanctification and holiness
-
under God, lifting up holy hands and guarding
-
our tongue, putting a brittle on our tongue and
-
being faithful unto the Lord and being who God
-
has called. Don't let nobody convince you that
-
you're anything but a child of God. You are a
-
royal seed. I wish I had. A witness. You say,
-
Pastor, why is it so important that I remember
-
who I am? Because that's the one thing the devil
-
wants to rob you of. The devil wants to convince
-
you that you're a nobody, that you're a has -been,
-
that you're a washed -up person. He wants you
-
to think that you're a loser, that you've got
-
nothing going for you, that you're at the bottom
-
and not at the top. But I've come to call the
-
devil a liar here today. I wish I had. I've come
-
to call Satan a liar. and say, Satan, I am who
-
God says that I am. If he says that I'm the head
-
and not the tail, that's who I am. If he says
-
I am above and not below, is there somebody that
-
believes what I'm preaching? I've got to know
-
who I am because if I don't know who I am, then
-
I can't access what belongs to me. Absolutely,
-
sir. Let's see some identification. You're like,
-
oh, well, come on, man, I'm him. Remember me
-
from last week? We don't do that around here.
-
We need to see some identification. You can't
-
even take out $5 from the bank account without
-
showing some form of ID. You got to prove who
-
you are. And every good thing, my God, every
-
good thing that God has promised to you, you
-
don't get to have it just because you dance and
-
shout. Anybody can dance and shout. You don't
-
get it just because you can run. Usain Bolt can
-
outrun all of us. You don't get it because you
-
can jump high. Michael Jordan. can jump higher
-
than all of us. You get it because you know who
-
you are. And even if you don't have strength
-
to jump and strength to run, even if you don't
-
have a voice to sing, all you got to know is
-
that I am a child of God and everything this
-
book says I can have, I can have. I don't got
-
to beg. Come on, somebody. I don't got to beg
-
for it. I don't got to cry about it. All I got
-
to do is claim my promises in the name. of Jesus.
-
I've got to claim it today. All I've got to do
-
is claim these promises that are mine. And saying,
-
devil, I'm not asking. I'm taking what belongs
-
to me. Oh, I've got to move on. Hallelujah. So
-
we've got to know who we are. We've got to let
-
those old things go and put on the newness and
-
walk. Walk in the newness. And there's a particular
-
way we must do this. Give me a few more moments
-
of your time because what the Israelites show
-
us is that we don't just rush into God's purpose.
-
We don't just run haphazardly or casually into
-
the things of God. When Israel reached the Jordan,
-
the leaders commanded the people. Watch what
-
it says in verse 3. When you see, Joshua 3, 3.
-
When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord
-
your God. and the priests, and the Levites. Then
-
you shall set out from your place and go after
-
it. The Ark of the Covenant symbolizes the glory
-
of God or his manifest presence. This was a symbolic
-
representation of the Spirit of God among his
-
people. And they were given clear instructions
-
that when you cross over this Jordan, you are
-
not simply jumping the river. You're not simply
-
to just dash across. You've got to make sure
-
that you follow the order that I have established.
-
God is a God of order. And he has ordered certain
-
things for us to follow. And he said, I want
-
you to follow this. And so for us today, this
-
means that you need to follow, number two, the
-
lead of God's glory. He must follow the lead
-
of his glory. Following the glory, following
-
the ark was not about logistics. It was not about,
-
in fact, if anything, it was anti -logistics.
-
It made things more complicated. It made things
-
a little more difficult to follow this heavy
-
ark across the Jordan. In fact, it made things
-
problematic. If you're looking at it, it's just
-
purely from a logical perspective. point of view
-
but this is what God has prescribed and sometimes
-
God will call us to follow him in a way that
-
doesn't always make sense to us in our natural
-
mind are you hearing me this afternoon he will
-
call us down a path or a direction that doesn't
-
always make sense don't try to understand God
-
Hello, somebody. Don't try to understand him.
-
The more you try to understand him, sometimes
-
his ways and his thoughts, the more confused
-
or discouraged you might be. But sometimes you
-
simply have to trust and not lean on your own
-
understanding, but acknowledge him in all of
-
your ways and he shall direct your... Oh, Israel
-
was learning a valuable lesson at this time.
-
They were learning that if you're going to enter
-
into the promises of God, enter into a greater
-
revival, enter into seeing your friends and your
-
family members saved, enter into seeing the miracles
-
of God come to pass in your life, enter into
-
a land that flows with milk and honey. If you're
-
going to step in, then you're going to do it
-
God's way. Someone say God's way. Come on, say
-
it again. Say God's way. You're not going to
-
do this on your own. You're not going to find
-
a back route. You're not going to find an alternate
-
route. You're not going to find a shortcut. You've
-
got to do it God's way. Hallelujah. And God has
-
a way. You know, there is a way that looks right
-
unto man, but the path thereof leads to destruction.
-
You better not be following your own intuition,
-
brother. Come on. You better not be following
-
your own God. I got good gut instincts. Your
-
good gut instincts got you into a bad relationship.
-
That's all it did. Hello, come on, somebody.
-
Yeah, I got good instincts. Your good instincts
-
got you signed up for something that you never
-
should have been involved in. I don't want to
-
trust my instincts in 2026. Come on. I don't
-
want to trust my intuition. I don't want to trust
-
what I'm hearing on Instagram. Just because you
-
saw a reel last night at 1 .30 in the morning
-
doesn't mean that's the will of God for you.
-
Just because there's a popular podcast. saying
-
this or that. I want to know what thus saith
-
the Lord. Come on, somebody. Just because you
-
found one or two people to agree with you over
-
a cup of coffee, that doesn't mean it's God's
-
will for your life. I want to be led by the glory
-
of God. Got to be led by it. Back in the day,
-
you know, people would consult horoscopes and
-
things like that. And it's concerning to me now
-
in the modern age. age and the social media age
-
and the Instagram real age and the clips that
-
we see, the viral clips and all these things
-
that are popping up in our feeds, what people
-
are being led. We're being led by people. I'm
-
talking to the next generation. Is that all right?
-
I'm going to say go ahead. You're taking advice
-
from people who don't have a relationship with
-
God. You're taking advice from people who consult
-
soothsayers and have witches in their life. You're
-
taking advice from people. who are not filled
-
with the Spirit of God. You're taking advice
-
from people who don't even agree with you on
-
the essentials of doctrine and salvation and
-
right living. You've got to be careful who you're
-
consulting in this hour. Let me tell you something
-
about the devil. Somebody say, go ahead. The
-
devil wears many different masks. He'll show
-
up on one day looking one way, and on the next
-
he'll use whatever mask works in your life to
-
get you to believe something that will take you
-
astray. So right now I am preaching to somebody
-
here today. You got to follow the glory of God.
-
What does God want for my life? And if that's
-
not what it is, then it's not going to work for
-
me. It might be a good thing. I don't want a
-
good thing. I want it to be a God thing. I don't
-
want a good opportunity. I want a God opportunity.
-
Come on. praise today. I'm preaching this today.
-
Somebody say, go ahead. I got to tell you that
-
you cannot be led. Don't follow your feelings
-
and expect God's favor. Don't follow your feelings
-
and expect God's favor. If you want God's favor,
-
you got to do it God's way. God's not going to
-
let you cut corners for you. He's not going to
-
bend the rules. If you want to be blessed, there's
-
a way. There's a pattern. Hallelujah. There's
-
a model that we ought to follow. Too many Christians
-
are self -led and they feel validated and justified
-
in what they're thinking, what they're feeling.
-
Because they found two or three people to agree
-
with them. Or like I said, they found a reel
-
that said, oh, I'm going to double like that.
-
I'm going to share it to my story. It doesn't
-
matter. I don't care if you share it to your
-
story or how many people you say. If it's not
-
God's will and if it doesn't line up with this
-
book. Come on now. Got a little quiet when I
-
said that. That's all right. Because the crickets
-
will praise God. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. But
-
I want God's best. How many of you want God's
-
best for your life? Amen. I want his best. Paul
-
writes, as many as are led by the spirit of God,
-
these are the sons of God. These are the sons
-
of God. Being born again, what does it do? It
-
qualifies you for inheritance. Being born again.
-
As I mentioned, you can't even pull out $5 from
-
the bank without knowing who you are. And it's
-
the same in the kingdom of God. You got to know
-
who you are. You got to be led of the spirit.
-
And yes, being born again makes you a son. Being
-
led of the spirit keeps you a son. I'm under
-
the covering of God. I'm under the protection
-
of God. Under the secret place, under the shadow
-
of the almighty. Hallelujah. The secret place
-
of the most high. That's where I am. And I don't
-
want to get outside of that covering. And that
-
covering includes the covering that God puts
-
in your life, such as the pastor and the spiritual
-
leadership. I've got to cover you. I've got to
-
help you. I've got to shepherd you. And you've
-
got to stay within that. And I know that's not
-
a practice in the 21st century, but we've got
-
to get back to a place of covering and say, Pastor,
-
we would like your help and your blessing on
-
this. I'm going to lose everybody now. I'm just
-
going to do it. No, pastor's not saying I'm not
-
a financial consultant. I'm not a real estate
-
agent. I'm not none of those things. So I'm not
-
going to give you advice and say, yeah, go do
-
this and then you're in debt. Pastor told me
-
to do it. No. But when is it wrong to ask for
-
prayer? Give me one verse in the Bible where
-
it says it's wrong to ask your pastor to pray
-
with you about this. I just feel something. I'm
-
just going to go there. Because if we're going
-
to do this thing, if we're going to do it right.
-
How do I come under alignment? How do I ensure
-
that I'm following the glory? Because some people
-
say, well, I don't need leadership. I don't need
-
a pastor. As long as I got a Bible. As long as
-
I can pray. There's a lot of people who are praying
-
and they're praying themselves right outside
-
the will of God. I'm going to tell you something.
-
I got a tweetable hot thing you can tell somebody.
-
Praying is not a substitute for obedience. You
-
can pray yourself to sleep every night and still
-
be disobedient in what God is telling you to
-
do. Feeling the Holy Ghost. Can I tell you, goosebumps.
-
Woo -hoo. Goosebumps. That's not confirmation
-
that that's God's will. You're going to feel
-
something if you step in a cold room. You're
-
going to feel something if you step into a hot
-
atmosphere. You're just responding to what you
-
feel. Come on. I was preaching now. I'm talking.
-
But we got to get back to that. We got to get
-
back to that. And whether we like it or not,
-
the glory, the Ark of the Covenant was being
-
led on the shoulders of the priests and the Levites.
-
And the people of God were to follow them. Now.
-
Before you criticize those that are upholding
-
the ark, that are helping to lead, understand
-
that those people are carrying a weight that
-
not everyone else is called to carry. And not
-
everybody's going to carry the ark. Not everyone's
-
going to have to have the burden, the responsibility
-
of carrying the ark. And this is why I feel God
-
leading me to mention these things, to understand
-
that. Let me just say something about ministry.
-
Is that all right? Ministry is not for those
-
who are talented necessarily. It's not those
-
who are gifted. Ministry is for those who can
-
handle the weight. There's a lot of people that
-
got all the gifts. All the talent in the world,
-
but they're not cut out for ministry. Why? Because
-
you put just a little bit of weight on them,
-
and they crumble. A little bit of responsibility,
-
a little bit of, hey, how come you didn't call
-
me and tell me you were going to, oh, man, you
-
know, these people are demanding around here.
-
You don't show up to work, and what happens?
-
Oh, man, I just had better get ready to come
-
up to the keyboard in a few minutes, sister,
-
because I feel something happening now. And he
-
said, well, man, this is. That's old school.
-
Yes, it is old school. But, you know, sometimes
-
the old school kept people in line, serving God,
-
loving him. And I don't always like what they're
-
asking of me. But you know what? But this is
-
the right way. And I'm not willing to take any
-
gambling. I'm not willing to gamble with my salvation
-
and with the future of my children. And so back
-
to the ministry, it's how much you can handle.
-
Amen. And hear me. Those that were carrying the
-
ark over, that was not comfortable. Imagine.
-
Because the water hadn't parted yet. So they're
-
walking into a river. I don't know, maybe they
-
had little fishes that were nibbling on their
-
ankles or something. I don't know. It wasn't
-
comfortable. The water was cold. And then they
-
got this heavy ark on them. And so the people
-
of God were instructed to follow the leadership.
-
Now, if one of those people falls and one of
-
those people, then. That's between them and God.
-
But my job as being a part of the nation of Israel,
-
being a part of the congregation, God's holy
-
people, I've got to follow this ark because this
-
is the prescribed way that God has given to his
-
church, to his people. So they begin to follow.
-
And as they begin to follow, something began
-
to happen. Something started happening. And my
-
third and last point here, and then we'll wrap
-
it up, amen, is that you've got to cross over.
-
Someone say cross over. You've got to cross over
-
in faith. Cross over in faith. Not in the flesh.
-
Someone say not in the flesh. But in faith. Sister,
-
if you can come. I need to just deliver this
-
final point to you. Is you got to cross over
-
in faith. It all came down to this moment. Israel
-
had their marching orders. And it was all or
-
nothing. It was do or die. This was it. This
-
was the moment that everybody had been waiting
-
for. But they would come to understand something
-
about the way God works. That God, God has the
-
right to change things and do things a little
-
different than the way they were done yesterday.
-
Because the last time Israel crossed the body
-
of water, The Red Sea parted both ways, and before
-
they even stepped in, the ground was already
-
dry. But this time, they're stepping into something
-
that has not quite parted yet. This time, they
-
got to step. Now, imagine if they said to themselves,
-
well, wait a minute. This is not the way God
-
did it for mom and dad. This is not the way God
-
did it. So while some things. Won't change. There
-
are some other things that can change. And God
-
is saying, is your mind, is your heart open to
-
the things that I want to do differently in your
-
life today? That's going to look different than
-
how I did it yesterday. Amen, somebody. Somebody
-
say amen. They were ready to take the land. They
-
were ready to step in. On the other side of the
-
Jordan, you know what was there? Houses that
-
they didn't build. Amen. How many of you want
-
to go into a house that you didn't build? I want
-
to live in the Bay Area, man. I need somebody
-
to get me a house that I didn't build. And that's
-
free and clear. Praise God. Hallelujah. Houses
-
that you didn't build. You know what I feel like
-
prophesying to this church? God's going to give
-
this church a house we didn't build. Hallelujah.
-
I said God's going to give us a house that we
-
didn't build. Pastor, what does that mean? That
-
means take a good look at this building right
-
here. This is where we are today, but it's not
-
where we're going to be tomorrow. God's got something
-
greater. God's got a promise. God's got a blessing.
-
A house that we didn't build. Stand up on your
-
feet and let's give God some glory today. about
-
you but i'm ready for a house that i didn't build
-
i'm ready for a vineyard that i didn't plant
-
my god my god my god can i preach like i want
-
to for a few more moments right now There was
-
houses that they didn't build. And those houses
-
represent structures. They represent places.
-
And I prophesied to this church and every member
-
and every believer and every friend and guest
-
here today that God's got a space for you. God's
-
got a place for us. And all we got to do is be
-
obedient to the word of the Lord. All I got to
-
do is take my marching orders and march my way
-
right in. into the blessings of God. All I've
-
got to do is do it God's way. And if God says
-
go right, go right. And if God says go left,
-
go left. But at the end of it all, I'm going
-
to be placing my feet on the other side of the
-
Jordan. Placing my feet on the other side of
-
that obstacle. I don't know what that obstacle
-
is today. I don't know what that fear is today.
-
That fear, that anxiety, oh, that problem, that
-
impossibility, whatever that thing is, I've come
-
to tell you in the name of Jesus, you are an
-
heir, Jordan. I got to cross over. I got to get
-
to the other side. I got to see the blessings
-
and the promises of God. Somebody worship the
-
Lord today. Somebody magnify his name. on the
-
other side is the marriage you've always wanted
-
on the other side is the family that you've been
-
praying for on the other side are the children
-
that you've been praying for on the other side
-
are the souls that God wants to give you on the
-
other side is the promotion Blessing, restoration,
-
revival. Somebody give God a praise in this place
-
right now. hallelujah i wonder if you could just
-
give god the glory i wonder if you could just
-
thank god right now thank you jesus thank you
-
jesus hallelujah somebody's saying well pastor
-
what about that jordan in my life i've got a
-
big barrier between me and where i need to go
-
let me God did not bring you to the Jordan so
-
the Jordan would stop you. God brought you to
-
the Jordan so that you can cross over. The Jordan
-
is not. Let me tell you something right now.
-
Stop letting the devil tell you that the Jordan
-
is a wall or a barrier that cannot be overcome.
-
The devil is a liar. The Jordan is not a barrier.
-
The Jordan is a vehicle. The Jordan is transportation.
-
The Jordan is. There's a way to get from here
-
to there. Don't let nobody talk you out of your
-
blessing. Don't let nobody talk you out of your
-
miracle. Don't let nobody talk you out of revival,
-
of joy, of peace. In the Holy Ghost, somebody
-
lift up your voice. Somebody magnify the Lord.
-
Somebody bless his name. Somebody thank his name.
-
Here's your name. Somebody lift up a shout unto
-
the Lord with a voice of triumph, with a voice
-
of praise. Hallelujah. Shout hallelujah. Hallelujah.
-
Oh, God. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah.
-
I'm going to tell you right now, I'm stepping
-
over my Jordan. I'm stepping over my Jordan.
-
I'm stepping over my Jordan. You know why? Because
-
I'm an heir of God. I'm a child of the living
-
God. I've got promises. My Bible says, Brother
-
Ben, that the promises of God are yes and amen.
-
That means it already belongs to me. It's already
-
got my name on it. It's already been designated
-
and set apart for me. And it's waiting on me.
-
To say it's mine. I wonder if there's somebody
-
right now that can shout it's mine. It's mine.
-
It's mine. Say it's mine right now. Now if it's
-
yours, I tell you right now, why don't you give
-
God praise for about 30 seconds.
