  5. Oh yeah, you can grab us hee.

  7. I'm glad you're here.

  8. Welcome to church, everybody, so glad you're here.

  9. Welcome to all of our first time guest returning friends.

  10. Some of y'all who ain't with Facebook official that you

  11. actually go here yet.

  12. It's all right. We not mad at you. No, I'm

  13. so grateful that you're here.

  14. Glad you take time out of your Sunday to be

  15. here with us. Thanks for coming to church on a running,

  16. on a rainy Sunday. Give it up for yourselves. Come on,

  17. you made it through the rain. It's also to be

  18. acting dramatic when it rains. We act like the city's

  19. gonna flood. It's just hilarious. It never happens. But but

  20. I'm very grateful to be in God's house today. I

  21. want to agree everybody watching online, Hey, everybody in Tulsa,

  22. can you make some noise for everybody watching online.

  23. Can you just cheer real quick? Literally you may.

  24. Not know this, but every single Sunday we have more

  25. than forty five thousand people that watch our service on Sunday,

  26. like live in the moment. So if you've ever been

  27. to be okay, like double that almost triple that. That's

  28. how many people right now. We just clap for so

  29. one more time. Can you celebrate everybody who's joining us

  30. watching online. We love you, so grateful for our family

  31. all around the world. And I said it, but I'm

  32. glad that you are here. And my name is Charles.

  33. Hello everybody. Technically Charles Henry Metcalf the third. It's not

  34. a big deal, but I will update the slide next week.

  35. I'm joking, but no, my mom it named me that

  36. my mom and dad. I'm named after my grandfather, Charles

  37. Henry Metcalf Junior.

  38. And I remember my mom growing up. She'd be like

  39. people would call me Chuck or Charlie.

  40. I had one football coach that called me chucky and

  41. I was like, I will hit you in your overweight face,

  42. like I will come on. Every sixth grade football coach

  43. is like, how did you become You're somebody's Dad, you're

  44. not a real football coach. Anyways, I'm sorry I have

  45. that joke offended you, But I remember and my mom

  46. she was like, if I wanted you to be called

  47. something else, I would have named you something else. Your

  48. name is Charles, so I always I am good to clarify

  49. that I'm Charles. And with my wife, we get to

  50. serve here as the campus pastors of our Tulsa campus

  51. and we're just honored and grateful that you're here and

  52. think that it's very important that you would gather and

  53. be with us today.

  54. And I'm just.

  55. So grateful for our church. I'm grateful for the diversity

  56. of our church. I'm grateful for our worship. Can y'all

  57. give it up for our worship team? Like it's just

  58. getting ridiculous at this point?

  59. Is that just to me?

  60. It's like, oh, Wow, every Sunday, angels are gonna join

  61. us in work.

  62. Wow.

  63. Okay, but I'm so glad you're here today. We're gonna

  64. be starting a brand new series.

  65. It's called the Word of God. Somebody say the Word

  66. of God.

  67. I'm excited for the next five weeks, we're gonna be

  68. talking about the best selling book of all time.

  69. That's a fact.

  70. The most stolen book of all time, that's a fact.

  71. It is the b I B L E. That's the

  72. book for me. Hello, somebody, come on, don't play me.

  73. But I'm before we jump into that, I'm excited. This

  74. is actually the fourth summer. I didn't realize it till

  75. my friend Kay he posted it. But for the last

  76. four years, every summer I preach a series. The first

  77. series I did was a series called the Paradox of Purpose.

  78. So anybody see that series Paradox of Purpose?

  79. We did that one Randomly, my daughter found a Paradox

  80. of Purpose sticker.

  81. She had it on her dress and I was like, oh, wow,

  82. where did you find that? But we did that one.

  83. Then there was one called Launch in Victory we did

  84. when we were opening up.

  85. And then last year, I think it was, I preached

  86. a series called Holy Rebellion. And this year here is

  87. the fourth one, The Word of God. I also realize

  88. I always pick the same colors for my series. It's black, white, yellow,

  89. and red, so if you go back and look, it's

  90. like they're all the same. Yes, but I have to

  91. stop and say thank you to our lead pastors.

  92. And here's why, because There are.

  93. A lot of people, a lot of people in ministry

  94. that feel the call to preach, the call to speak,

  95. but it takes a leader seeing it in them and

  96. giving them the space to do it for them to

  97. step in who God's called them to be. And I

  98. am just personally and grateful for my friend and our pastors,

  99. pastors Michael and Natalie Todd, for giving me the opportunity

  100. to preach. So can you celebrate our pastors, our leaders.

  101. I love you friends, Thank you. It's a big deal.

  102. I don't take this responsibility lightly. I've been praying and

  103. I'm grateful. I'm excited for the word I have today.

  104. Before we do that, I'm gonna do this every single week.

  105. I want to We're gonna be in the Word of

  106. God reading the Bible.

  107. We're gonna read a whole chapter of the Bible today.

  108. So if you ain't this week, don't go hug go

  109. thank goodness, because who knows what would have happened if

  110. you went to read the Bible. But I want you,

  111. I want to encourage everybody to bring your real Bible.

  112. As a matter of fact, anybody got a real Bible

  113. right now, like wave it in the air, Come on.

  114. That's what I'm talking about.

  115. Listen.

  116. By the end of this series. By the end of

  117. the series, the fifth week, come on, you can go

  118. dollar Tree. You can go find a Bible anywhere. If

  119. you happen to go to a hotel, you open up

  120. that drawer, they.

  121. Got one in there. God might understand. I'm not telling

  122. you to steal it.

  123. I'm just saying, if your heart's in the right place, ah,

  124. you know, God would know anyways. But I want to

  125. encourage you to bring your real Bible. I just think

  126. there's something special about it. I am old school in

  127. that way. My dad always preached out of his Bible

  128. growing up, and I remember he gave me his Bible

  129. and it was such a big deal. And then I

  130. got this Bible about eight or nine years ago. It's

  131. falling apart, but my life is in Hello, somebody hell,

  132. But I would encourage you Bible and to get that going.

  133. I'm actually gonna give away a Bible every single week.

  134. We have these represent Bibles that are super awesome and

  135. is this is this the one?

  136. Yes? This is it?

  137. Okay, So I wrote in this and dedicated this, and

  138. every single week I just be If you ever see

  139. me I'm just be walking around during worship.

  140. I'm not trying to be weird. I'm just praying.

  141. I'm praying for you, praying for your family, praying over

  142. the church. And during prayer, the Holy Spirit highlighted somebody

  143. to me and I was like, oh, that's who the

  144. Bible is supposed to go get so, oh yeah, are

  145. you back there in the back where you are?

  146. Come up here?

  147. Oh yeah, alry' come on, come on, come on, brother,

  148. give it up, come on, come on.

  149. He gotta make his way up here. Oh yay you

  150. How old is your baby?

  151. Girl?

  152. You got a baby girl? Right boy? How old? Five months?

  153. He just had it as your first baby? First baby?

  154. Can you give it up? You gonna need this bible?

  155. All right?

  156. Every single week we're gonna be giving away a Bible.

  157. So if you don't have a Bible, well maybe start

  158. praying now.

  159. Maybe God will make away. Now. Don't come up to

  160. me awkwardly and be like, hey about the Bible.

  161. But no, we're gonna are you all ready for the

  162. message today?

  163. All right, let's do it. Let's do it. Let's do it.

  164. Okay, we're gonna jump right in. I'm excited today. I'm

  165. gonna have to set up the series and pace myself

  166. because I have a lot of I've had all these

  167. message literally the next five week messages. I've had them

  168. since like five months ago, Like I literally had the titles.

  169. The team was like, do you have any idea? And

  170. I just text them all of it. I was like, yeah,

  171. there's everything if you want it. So I gotta be

  172. careful about to preach the other week's out of order.

  173. But today we're gonna set a little foundation. Somebody say foundation.

  174. We're gonna set a little foundation for why the Word

  175. of God is important. And if you are new to faith,

  176. maybe new to church, I think this is the perfect.

  177. Time for you to be here.

  178. There's no better time for you to figure out what

  179. this is all about than coming in a series while

  180. we're talking about why this book is one of the

  181. most important things in your life.

  182. As a matter of fact, if.

  183. You're new to church, new to church experience, I know

  184. everybody in here you've been saved since before you were

  185. out of your mother's womb. But there are some people

  186. in here that maybe you ain't been in church in

  187. a while.

  188. And I think sometimes we assume.

  189. Everybody knows what we're doing, and I bring friends to

  190. church that aren't in church. And one of the things

  191. they say all the time, my friend actually said it

  192. last week, is like.

  193. How does everybody know all the songs?

  194. Like I feel like y'all all are doing this like

  195. karaoke thing for God, and everybody knows the words except

  196. for me. And so if you're new to church, we

  197. do worship every single week.

  198. That's where we sing songs to God.

  199. Then in the middle of that worship, there'll be somebody

  200. who come up.

  201. It was Will today.

  202. They'll come up and tell you all the different ways

  203. you can get involved in church. Then we'll do worship again,

  204. just in case you weren't paying attention the first time.

  205. Hello somebody, or you're late. I see you.

  206. It's not a big deal. I'll be late too, So

  207. we're all right. That's why we do that extra song

  208. just for some of y'all who are like.

  209. Oh my gosh, I overslept.

  210. No, you didn't your plan, you stayed up late, you

  211. made bad plans, you didn't pick out your outfit.

  212. Hello, somebody and your kids went. It happens all the time.

  213. And then we go into the word, and that's what

  214. we're gonna open up this book and talk about the

  215. importance of it in our lives. And then at the

  216. very end, we actually do this. Every single week, we

  217. invite people to follow Jesus and.

  218. We pray for two groups of people.

  219. One, we pray for people who want to apply the message.

  220. So today, if this message hits you in a way

  221. that you're like, man, I really need to do something

  222. with that, I'm gonna pray over you. And then we

  223. always pray for people who want to accept Jesus into life.

  224. We pray a group prayer and that's beautiful. Happens every

  225. single week. I believe some of you you're gonna give

  226. your life to Jesus today. That's why you here. You

  227. just don't know it yet. And then after prayer, it's

  228. a beautiful thing. About forty six point three percent of

  229. the room is gonna try to rush out and get

  230. beat you out there for traffic.

  231. It was a joke. Calm down, You're like, oh, shoot,

  232. he sees me. I do no.

  233. I say that because one of the most beautiful things

  234. that happens at the end of service is a time of.

  235. Prayer and worship.

  236. And I'm saying this on purpose, and I know I

  237. made that joke and somewhere are like, oh gosh, you

  238. just got a little tight.

  239. It's okay, take a deep breath. You're fine.

  240. But I will say I think one of the most

  241. powerful things that could happen in your week is not

  242. rushing out when you could gain and fill up a

  243. little more peace before you go back into your workplace,

  244. before you go back into your house. And so as

  245. we go throughout service today, I'm gonna be locked in.

  246. I got my clock up there. It's green as if

  247. it goes red, then y'all can start getting up and

  248. walking out.

  249. Okay, so just calm down.

  250. But listen, it's gonna be a beautiful, beautiful service today,

  251. and I'm grateful if it's your first time. All Right,

  252. you all ready, Now we're really ready. Now you're ready.

  253. All right, here's what we're gonna do. I'm just gonna

  254. I'm just gonna fire off the top. I was gonna

  255. read a scripture, but I'm gonna have you write this down. Keys,

  256. Thank you very much. You got the spiritual tone. But

  257. I'm about to scream and it'll be like an awkward

  258. mix if I do that. So I mean, everybody, get

  259. your notes out, Get your phones out.

  260. Smartphones dumb phones.

  261. As our pastor would say, I'm not gonna say which

  262. brand is a dumb phone. You can determine that yourself.

  263. But where I need you to write down in your notes.

  264. The Word of God is the only foundation.

  265. That has the peace, purpose and power to.

  266. Sustain the human soul.

  267. If you get up and walk out right now and

  268. you live that out, I promise you your life would

  269. be different. The Word of God is the only somebody say,

  270. only foundation that has the peace, purpose and power to

  271. sustain your soul. Now, I want to be clear, you

  272. have options for other foundations. It's not the only foundation

  273. you could choose, but it is the only one.

  274. That could actually hold you up.

  275. There are a lot of choices when it comes to

  276. your foundation. A lot of people choose success, money, and

  277. their career as a foundation. So you figure, if I

  278. just get enough money, if I do my job, if

  279. I get enough promotions, I will build a life that

  280. is secure enough for me to stand on and it

  281. will outlast me. The only problem is money cannot hold

  282. you up. Let me take it a step further. Money

  283. can't heal you when you're sick. Money cannot change the

  284. dynamic of a situation that only God can intervene in.

  285. Money will come and money will go, but the Word

  286. of God stands forever. You can choose relationships a boyfriend,

  287. a girlfriend, a husband or wife for that to be

  288. your foundation. The only problem is people will always let

  289. you down.

  290. Always they're gonna let you down.

  291. People you love, people that you've been close with, friends

  292. and family members that you have.

  293. They will always let you down. Some people choose.

  294. Their gift to be their foundation, or what you do

  295. to be your foundation. You're you're super talented, or you

  296. have a certain gift to sing, or a gift to

  297. play a sport, or a gift to organize and structure,

  298. and you build your life on this gift is who

  299. I am. Only problem is is at some point you

  300. get older or at some point you're not using that

  301. gift and now you don't know who you are.

  302. Every foundation is going to cost you.

  303. Something you're not willing to pay.

  304. I'm gonna say that again.

  305. Every foundation you choose, if it's not the word of God,

  306. it'll cost you something that I promise you do not

  307. want to pay. Let me let me just I have

  308. to do this. I'm a little dramatic. Sometimes Okay, this

  309. is ooh, okay, you wasn't doing that. You wuldn't say

  310. that earlier when I was giving examples standing on this

  311. is what it is to build your life on money.

  312. You feel higher than other people, you feel better about yourself.

  313. But the problem is you can't go anywhere and get this.

  314. There's no space for anybody else on this foundation. There's

  315. no space for your family. There's no space for your children.

  316. So Dad's gotta go to work or Mommy's gotta go work,

  317. and I'll miss your game. It'll be all right, but

  318. I'll give you some money for your birthday. No, no, no, no,

  319. can't nobody else fit up on this foundation.

  320. I need something bigger than this my gift.

  321. And you know, God just gave me the gift to sing,

  322. and so I sing and that's all I do.

  323. That's who I am. Awesome, that's amazing.

  324. The only problem is what happens if your vocal core

  325. is just start acting a little sideways, a little funny.

  326. What happens when you don't get up on the stage.

  327. What happens when your call didn't ever have.

  328. To do with anything being on the stage.

  329. There's no space on this foundation, and the Word of

  330. God is the only foundation that has the peace.

  331. I want to stop on this.

  332. For a second because up here, the longer I stand

  333. up here, the more anxious I get. And some of you,

  334. the foundations you've chosen in your life. The longer you

  335. stand on that thing, the more you realize you have

  336. more to lose, the higher the fall is gonna be.

  337. What happens if the money goes out? What happens if

  338. the four to one K plan doesn't happen. What happens

  339. if I don't get into that school? Only one that

  340. has the purpose. Some foundations you can make money and

  341. be successful.

  342. You just don't know why you're on the earth.

  343. You get the job, you get the promotion, and then

  344. you got the corner office and you realize, oh.

  345. Man, I don't have any friends.

  346. Oh I cut everybody down getting up here, so now

  347. there's no one to celebrate with me. When I get

  348. the raise, you find no purpose. And the last one

  349. is it doesn't have the power. No matter how much

  350. money you get, no matter how much influence you have.

  351. There is only one foundation that can sustain your soul,

  352. and it is the Word of God. It's the only one.

  353. There's no other foundation that will outlast. The Bible is clear.

  354. It says, the grass withers and the flowers fade, but

  355. the word of God stands forever.

  356. It's what the Bible says.

  357. I want to read you another scripture out of Matthew

  358. about the Word of God. It says this, says, everyone

  359. who hears the word of mine and does not uh

  360. do and does them will be like the wise man

  361. who built his house on the rock, and the rain fell,

  362. and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat

  363. upon the house, but it did not fall because.

  364. It had been founded on the rock.

  365. And everyone who hears these words of mine it does

  366. not do them, is like the foolish man who built

  367. his house on the sand, and the rain fell, and

  368. the floods came, and the wind blew and beat against

  369. the house, and it fell. And it says this, and

  370. great was the fall. I'm telling you from own experience.

  371. I'm not up here talking to you about something that

  372. I am not living out. The word of God is

  373. the only thing that can keep you. The word of God.

  374. God is the only thing that matters in this life.

  375. And it's important we start with this foundation, because we're

  376. gonna go further in this series to talk about the

  377. Book of Galatians and the implications on our life. But

  378. if you don't value this book, it don't matter. If

  379. you don't understand the power of this book. Now, let

  380. me let me pause here, because I'm not just talking

  381. about a book.

  382. Let me be very clear.

  383. I'm not just talking about a book that you go

  384. by at a store. The Bible says that this book

  385. is alive and active. The Bible says, this is the

  386. very word of some of us. If this ceiling cracked

  387. open right now and God came down with whatever skin

  388. tone you think he had, even though we know where

  389. he was from and he definitely didn't have blue eyes

  390. and blonde hair. Anyways, that's a fake picture of Jesus

  391. in the hospital.

  392. But uh, if he came down and was like, I

  393. have a word for you, you'll be oh gosh, let

  394. me write it down. When in fact, this whole thing

  395. is his.

  396. Words to you, and it's not outdated, and it's not

  397. not relevant and it doesn't happen. It's not one of

  398. those things like ah, we need no, no, no no.

  399. This is just as relevant as when it was written

  400. as it is today. It is just as powerful as

  401. when it was written as it is today. And I

  402. want to encourage you to get a conviction around this

  403. being your foundation. How do I know if it's my foundation?

  404. When things start going sideways? What do you think you

  405. go to this? This is how you can tell who

  406. do you start asking questions to? Where do you go

  407. for your source of truth when things start going crazy

  408. and you're about to respond? Where do you get that

  409. response from? Is it from how you feel? Is it

  410. from how your family responds, is it how you grew up?

  411. Or is it what does the Bible say? Your kid

  412. comes to you, Hey, I have a question. What are

  413. we supposed to do without the well son? This is

  414. what the Bible says. Hey, what am I supposed to

  415. do about getting this job? And should I just take

  416. every promotion because more money means that God is definitely

  417. with me.

  418. I don't know what does the Bible say when we

  419. asked that question.

  420. It's building our life on a foundation. Now, I want

  421. to take a moment and I actually did this in

  422. the Bible Study.

  423. Shout out.

  424. Talk to my people who comes to the Bible Study

  425. on Wednesday nights, shout out to all the people. We

  426. have a loyal crew of people On Wednesday nights at

  427. seven fifteen, we do a Bible study every single Wednesday,

  428. and we've been talking about the Bible and the Word

  429. of God, and so I want to share this with

  430. you if you're in here and you're wondering, how can

  431. we believe the Bible? Like, how do we know this

  432. thing is true? How do we know it's real? Is

  433. it just the book? You know, there's some eighteen year

  434. old kid on TikTok that done talked to you out

  435. of your theology just because you have a podcast microphone.

  436. He was like, you know, the Bible actually isn't true.

  437. It's like you actually can't buy alcohol.

  438. So calm down, kid, what do you know? Like you

  439. know what I'm saying, like us telling me. He's like,

  440. I saw this video on Facebook. It's like, okay, calm down.

  441. There's a lot of things on Facebook. All of our

  442. grandmother's on Facebook. So let's just like realize what's going on.

  443. Okay, I'm I'm Chloe. I didn't mean that as no offense.

  444. I mean that is none. I love you. She said,

  445. all right, Okay, here, I'm gonna give you three reasons

  446. why you can believe the Bible real quick, and then

  447. we're gonna get intigulations.

  448. Write these three down, three reasons why you can believe

  449. the Bible.

  450. The first one is facts. Everybody say facts.

  451. If somebody come up to you talking about like, how

  452. can you even believe the Bible?

  453. It was written so long ago, how do you even

  454. know it's true? How do you even know blah blah

  455. blah blah.

  456. Well, first of all, it's sixty six different book written

  457. over thousands of years that all point to the.

  458. Exact same thing. Name me one of a book that

  459. does that. But I'm gonna give.

  460. You some real facts, like if you are like more

  461. like detail on you, Like, I gotta know that, I

  462. know that, I know. Can y'all put that up there

  463. for me? This little slope that's gonna show these saints

  464. some facts real quick.

  465. Okay, look at this.

  466. This is a chart that shows copies of the Bible

  467. that we have access to at the bottom, but at

  468. the top this is a list of other stuff that

  469. is accepted all around the world that you learned in

  470. your history book and you never questioned. So Homer's Iliad

  471. was written in eight hundred BC. The earliest copies is

  472. four hundred, so there's a four hundred year gap, so

  473. it happened, and then a four hundred year gap, and

  474. we have six hundred and forty three copies of that

  475. original writing. Let's go a little bit further Herodius who

  476. was a historian.

  477. So the history you read in your history book.

  478. You don't know how many copies we have of the

  479. history you read and learned and got quizzed on and

  480. failed the sat because you didn't know. We have eight copies,

  481. eight and you ain't never looked that history book.

  482. Be like, I don't know if they technically won that war.

  483. I don't really eight copies Plato. Come on, you're like,

  484. oh Plato was so smart.

  485. Okay, there's thirteen hundred years is the closest copy we have,

  486. and we have seven of them.

  487. Let's go to the New Testament.

  488. The biggest time gap is fifty years, so from when

  489. it was written fifty years later. And look how many

  490. copies we got five, three hundred and sixty six copies

  491. of the New Testament.

  492. This is facts.

  493. So you can accept this book as an accurate depiction

  494. of what happened, just because you don't understand all the

  495. stories just because you've never seen miracles like that, and

  496. you're like, how does someone shadow heal somebody?

  497. And I don't know. Just because you don't understand doesn't mean.

  498. That aren't actual facts to tell you all that history

  499. in your history book. We have more proof about this book.

  500. We reading right here. That is a fact. So when

  501. someone come up to you and be like, how can

  502. you believe the Bible, Well, the truth is, we just

  503. got way more. And this is how people measure the

  504. legitimacy of ancient writings. So anything that is accepted as

  505. the people who wrote history, we got eight busted, crinkled

  506. up pieces of paper. They're like, hey, yeah, this is

  507. what happened for thousands of years, and we just accept

  508. it and we.

  509. Put it in our history books.

  510. The Bible, we have so many everybody say facts. The

  511. next one is fruit. Everybody write down the word fruit.

  512. Everybody say fruit. The Bible the only book that is

  513. consistent that when.

  514. You live out the truth of its words, there.

  515. Is proof in your life and fruit from that book.

  516. The truth of the Bible, the truth of scripture is

  517. so true.

  518. That people who don't even believe in it realize that

  519. the stuff that's in there has some power, and they

  520. will live it out even.

  521. If they don't subscribe to everything. It says.

  522. It is more blessed to give than receive. The world

  523. of the generous gets larger and larger, and the world

  524. of the stingy gets smaller and smaller. Philanthropist is just

  525. a fancy word for I'm a generous person. But people

  526. realize there are some principles in this book that create

  527. fruit when I live it out. The last one, while

  528. we believe the Bible is somebody say faith two Timothy

  529. three sixteen says this team, I think I added the scripture,

  530. so I'm sorry if you don't have it. I'll be

  531. playing our team sometimes and it's like, come on, through

  532. the scripture, it's my fault. Calm down, tewod Timothy three sixteen.

  533. All scripture is inspired by God and is useful to

  534. teach us. Listen to this what is true so you

  535. can live your truth. But let's be clear, there is

  536. a truth. Come on, I'm just living my truth.

  537. Coo coo coo coo. Cool.

  538. But there is a truth that is not consult on

  539. how you feel or the times, or what the government's

  540. doing or what anybody else say.

  541. It says.

  542. This Bible is how we learn what is true, it says,

  543. and it makes us realize.

  544. What is wrong in our lives.

  545. So if you read the Bible and all of it

  546. agrees with you, you may want to make sure it's

  547. a Bible you're reading and not just like a short story.

  548. Come on, if the Bible doesn't cut you when you

  549. read it, be careful.

  550. It says.

  551. It corrects us when we're wrong, and it teaches us

  552. what to do and what is right. God uses it.

  553. So this is the Bible. This is what the Bible says.

  554. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to

  555. do every good work. So there is an element of this.

  556. And I was talking to somebody and they were talking

  557. about a different religion, and I said, let's just acknowledge

  558. some facts here. No matter how much you argue at

  559. the bottom of the barrel, is a faith step to

  560. believe this book. I don't want to get a scoot

  561. around because some people will argue the facts and how

  562. do we know this?

  563. We got to at some point you got to put

  564. your faith that this is the word of God, that

  565. it is true, that I can build my life on it.

  566. So the reason we believe the Bible is those three reasons.

  567. We have facts that prove that it's way more legitimate

  568. than any ancient writing ever. We have the fruit that

  569. when we live it out, we see what happens in

  570. our life, and we have the faith step that we take.

  571. These say, you know.

  572. What, I've built my life on this book. So now

  573. i wanna jump into Galatians. Everybody say Galatians. Now we're

  574. gonna do something old school. We're gonna stand for the

  575. reading of God's word and.

  576. I'm gonna change my voice. Now I'm joking. I'm joking.

  577. I'm not gonna do that. I can't do that, metcalf Man.

  578. We were not giving that deep, raspy voice.

  579. When we get loud, our voice gets higher pitched. So

  580. it's kind of we kind of got played in that regard.

  581. Galatians chapter one.

  582. If you have your Bible, you're gonna open to We're

  583. gonna read the whole thing. I'm not gonna stop all

  584. the way through. I'm it's gonna be on the sky

  585. Bible up here.

  586. So we like to call that.

  587. So if you didn't bring your Bible, you can just

  588. read it off there.

  589. But This is what Galatians chapter one says.

  590. It's Paul talking, and I'll read this letter is from Paul,

  591. an apostle. I was not appointed by any group of

  592. people or by any human authority, but by Jesus Christ

  593. himself and the God, the Father who raised Jesus from

  594. the dead. All the brothers and sisters here join me

  595. in sending this letter to the churches. May God, the Father,

  596. our Lord, Jesus Christ, give you grace and peace. Somebody

  597. say grace and peace. Jesus gave his life for our sins,

  598. just as God planned it, in order to rescue us

  599. from the evil word.

  600. All the glory to God forever.

  601. Now Paul goes into verse six and he's talking to

  602. people because there were some people who were sharing some

  603. fake news pretty much, and this is what he says.

  604. I'm so shocked. You're turning away so.

  605. Soon from God who called you and his loving mercy.

  606. You are following a different way that pretends to.

  607. Be good news, but it's not good news at all.

  608. You are being fooled by those who deliberately twist the

  609. truth concerning Christ. Let God's curse hold up, watch out

  610. now fall on anyone, including even an angel from heaven

  611. who preaches a different kind of good news than the

  612. one I already preached to you.

  613. I say again what we said before.

  614. If anyone preaches the good news is that you welcome,

  615. let that person be cursed.

  616. Now look what he says. He's cursing people.

  617. And then verse ten, he's like, obviously, I'm not trying

  618. to win the approval of people, but God it pleases.

  619. If pleasing people were my.

  620. Goal, I would not be Christ's servant.

  621. Watch out, people, pleasers. Hold up, dear brothers and sisters.

  622. I want you to understand. The gospel message I preach

  623. is not based on mere human reasoning. I received this

  624. message from no human source, and no one taught it

  625. to me. Come on, he got rejected from school, but

  626. he said, Jesus taught me himself instead.

  627. I received it directly from Jesus.

  628. You know what I was like before I followed the

  629. Jewish religion.

  630. He's talking about his history.

  631. He says, how violently I persecuted God's Church. I did

  632. my best to destroy it. I was far ahead of

  633. my fellow Jews in my zeal for tradition.

  634. Now this is my favorite verse, maybe of all time.

  635. But even before I was born.

  636. Even before I was born, God chose me, and he

  637. called me by his marvelous grace. Then it pleased him

  638. to reveal his son to me, so I would proclaim

  639. the good news about Jesus to the gentiles. When this happened,

  640. I didn't rush to consult with any human being, nor

  641. did I go to Jerusalem.

  642. To console with those apostles.

  643. Instead, I went away into Arabia.

  644. And then later to Damascus.

  645. Then three years later I went to Jerusalem to get

  646. to know Peter. So he been rocking for three years,

  647. and he's like, all right, I guess i'll go check

  648. in with who you said I got.

  649. To check in with.

  650. I stayed with him for fifteen days. Then the only

  651. other apostle I met was James, the Lord's brother. I

  652. declared before God, what I was writing to you.

  653. Is no lie. We're about to be done right here.

  654. After I visit, I went north into Syria and Sicily,

  655. and then to all the churches that Christ and Judea.

  656. They didn't know me personally. All they knew is what

  657. the people were saying. The one who used to persecute

  658. us is now preaching the very faith he tried to

  659. destroy it and they praise God.

  660. Because of me.

  661. Can somebody clap your hands for the word? Oh God,

  662. you may be seated.

  663. Friends.

  664. I have a message today in my twenty seven minutes

  665. in three seconds.

  666. Oh, I know, I got it.

  667. I'm I'm locked in, baby. And I preached the message

  668. before called God Chose Me, and.

  669. I wanted to preach that one again. But I've got

  670. version two for you today. Okay? Is that all right?

  671. This message is for people who maybe the idea that

  672. God chose you has drifted because of the time between

  673. what he said and what you've seen. This message today

  674. is for people who feel like life has beat you

  675. down so much that somehow your trauma has warped God's

  676. ability to put his hand on your life. This message

  677. is for the single mother who feels like if God

  678. was with me, why would I be here. This message

  679. is for the person who you didn't get into the

  680. school and you feel like I've got declined so many times,

  681. I've got hit so many times?

  682. Is there anybody that still sees me?

  683. And I've got another three words for you this morning.

  684. This is gonna be a confession in your heart. You're

  685. gonna believe it in your soul. You're gonna say it

  686. until you cannot forget it. On days when you wake

  687. up and everything's going good, you're gonna say this.

  688. On days when you wake up and everything's going bad.

  689. You're gonna say this when things are going your way

  690. when they're not. You can say these three words because

  691. they are the most true words that have ever been spoken.

  692. It is this. I'm still chosen. I'm still chosen.

  693. Yeah, it's been some time and things haven't worked out,

  694. but don't you forget I'm.

  695. Still chosen by God.

  696. Yes, I know things have not gone how I thought

  697. they were, and I'm still a little rusty in my

  698. gift because God hasn't used it yet.

  699. But do not get it twisted. I'm still chosen. Yeah.

  700. I had a season where I walked away from God

  701. and I made some decisions I regret. But I'm back

  702. here and I need to let you know I am

  703. still chosen. Somebody say, I'm still chosen, Yeah, yeah, yeah.

  704. I came to remind you what has happened to you

  705. does not define who you are. I know the world's

  706. trying to discourage you. I know your family feels like

  707. they're discouraging you. I know you open up your chase

  708. account and feel discouraged, shall o somebody? But you are

  709. still chosen by God, the creator of the universe, the

  710. one who hung the stars in the sky, the one

  711. that forgives sins, that cancels debt, that raises dead bodies,

  712. that split seas open.

  713. It is that God that has chosen you.

  714. And Paul opens up the Book of Galatian throwing hands.

  715. That's exactly what he did.

  716. Because everybody suspect of Paul, they're like, okay, we know

  717. you had a little encounter. Apparently that no one was

  718. there to witness.

  719. Come on, that's the tough part.

  720. Sometimes, ain't nobody there to witness what God did.

  721. In your heart in private?

  722. And you come out trying to act different, and everybody's like, okay,

  723. who were you?

  724. Come on? You?

  725. You? Maybe you you were off at school and you

  726. come home and God changes some stuff in your heart

  727. and you about to go back to school and you're

  728. gonna try to be different.

  729. They'll be like, okay, nobody.

  730. Saw what you did while you acting brand new now.

  731. But Paul, knowing what they're thinking about him, here's the context.

  732. So the Book of Galatians is written to a group

  733. of churches and the people there.

  734. It's a very.

  735. Racially mixed group of people and ethnically mixed group of people,

  736. and there are people there who are trying to sell

  737. the truth that yeah, yeah, Jesus died, but you still

  738. got to follow all these rules, and you got to

  739. keep following these rules, even though Jesus said he paid

  740. for all that, you still And what they're doing is

  741. they're talking about Paul. They say, don't even believe Paul.

  742. Come on, we don't even know what really happened to him.

  743. Come on, he said he was on the road and

  744. then God met him.

  745. You really think God met Paul. Come on, he used

  746. to kill us, you remember what he used to do.

  747. So they're talking about Paul.

  748. So Paul cracks open the book and it's like, hey,

  749. how y'all doing?

  750. And now this is hilarious.

  751. So imagine we're in church, Paul sends us this letter

  752. and everybody's like, oh my gosh, guys, we got a

  753. letter from Paul. They're like, come on, everybody, get around,

  754. get around. Everybody quiets down, and he's like, hey, it's Paul, and.

  755. They're like, oh my gosh, Hey it's Paul. Hey, Paul,

  756. how you doing.

  757. And he's like, I'm shocked you've turned so quickly.

  758. They're like, what is he? What is he talking about?

  759. He's like from those losers who are trying to sell

  760. you a fake gospel.

  761. And then the room gets quiet. They're like, oh uh.

  762. And then maybe some of those questions start coming up,

  763. like why are.

  764. He talking so strong and who do he think he is?

  765. And Paul is very clear. He says, hey, real quick,

  766. before I finish the rest of this book, let me

  767. be clear who chose me. At this time, Jesus has died,

  768. so there's a lot of momentum in the church, and

  769. so people are raising up disciples of disciples, so there

  770. were people who walk with Jesus and so they're training people,

  771. and so people were very connected to who did you

  772. learn your gospel from? And who did you get your

  773. Jesus from? And Paul says, let me be clear with you.

  774. Didn't no human give me this, didn't no person approve me,

  775. didn't no person.

  776. Come say oh now you can do.

  777. God himself came to me and said, Paul, it's time

  778. to turn, and I got something for you. Paul says,

  779. I didn't get this from no human source. And when

  780. I got it, I didn't go check in with nobody.

  781. I got it and I got to work. And for

  782. so long we have needed the approval of other people

  783. to do what God told us to do, and we

  784. spend half of the time we were supposed to spend

  785. snatching people out of hell just checking in with all

  786. these people making sure did God tell me to do this?

  787. And is it okay to help people who are poor?

  788. And I think I should really help people who are

  789. stuck in human trafficking? And is then okay to feed

  790. the hungry? Stop checking in with the committee. God gave

  791. it to you. It is time to go. I feel

  792. that thing. If God gave it to you, it is

  793. time to go. I'm tired of Christians sitting around in

  794. our little Christian Kumbaya waiting to do all week. Got

  795. more schematics and plans to change the world that are

  796. dusty and old, and we ain't done nothing with them yet.

  797. I'm tired of that. If God gave it to me,

  798. it's time to go. Why Because I'm still chosen. God

  799. gave me this idea. God gave you that gift. God

  800. put that dream on the inside of you. God gave

  801. you that thing. God gave you those children. God gave

  802. you that job. And if God gave it to you,

  803. he has put everything on the inside of.

  804. You to walk it out. I'm still chosen.

  805. I know I'm a little weary, I know look a

  806. little beat up, but I'm still chosen.

  807. I know my heart is heavy.

  808. I know I've lost some people along the way, but

  809. I'm still chosen.

  810. I know I've made my mistakes.

  811. I know by right now, by looking at my Instagram feed,

  812. you couldn't tell.

  813. But I'm still chosen.

  814. I know if you were to go look down at

  815. the history of my life and you were going to

  816. go back into the lineage of my family, it wouldn't

  817. speak to somebody who's chosen. But don't get it twisted.

  818. You can read the history books, but I'm writing the future.

  819. I'm still chosen. Don't make up for me because what's

  820. happened in my past. Don't look at my parents struggle

  821. and try to decide about me. Don't look at my

  822. cousins and think you know who I am. I'm still chosen.

  823. God put his hand on me, and I'm not going nowhere.

  824. I'm still chosen. I need you to get something on

  825. the inside of you that is a holy get these

  826. two words, a holy confidence and a holy contentment. You

  827. can't do nothing with somebody who's confident and content. I

  828. know it for myself else I didn't used to always

  829. be this way. But I know why I am a

  830. problem for Hell and why my name comes up a

  831. lot down there, is because I'm confident enough to do

  832. exactly what God told me to do, and I'm content

  833. enough to sit at home with my wife and my babies.

  834. I'm confident and I'm content. I'm confident enough to get

  835. up on this stage and preach what God told me

  836. to preach, and I'm content enough. If he said, Charles,

  837. you ain't never gonna preach again. You just gonna sit

  838. down here and do whatever past might tell you do.

  839. I would be cool. Why because no human source put

  840. this gift on the inside of me. God chose me.

  841. I know where it came from, so I know.

  842. Who gets to tell me what to do with it.

  843. Ain't no human put this on the inside of me.

  844. But before I was even born, somebody say God chose me. Yeah, yeah, yeah,

  845. there's something happening on the inside of you. You're realizing

  846. that even though there are people in your life that

  847. try to take credit from your gift. They weren't there

  848. when it was birthed. Nobody was in Bowling Green, Kentucky

  849. checking from me. Nobody was there when me and my

  850. wife were sitting in our room crying and deciding if

  851. we were gonna leave the place we were at. It

  852. didn't have no job, didn't have no money. But I

  853. had a lot of friends that were close to me

  854. but were far from God. And so I thought, if

  855. they ain't gonna come to church, I'm gonna take the

  856. church to them.

  857. Me and my wife we literally were like, all right,

  858. we started a church. What does that mean? I don't know.

  859. Google it all right, how do you start a five?

  860. Oh one? C? Three? Done? Did it? All right?

  861. Let's let we do our first little gathering. We call

  862. them gatherings because I was like, you know, some of

  863. my friends just the word church they would flinch, like

  864. they just had so many bad experiences and so on.

  865. Saying come to church with me was like hit them

  866. in the mouth, like it.

  867. Was just like they didn't like it. So I was like,

  868. all right, why don't you just come to this little

  869. gathering thing. We're just gonna eat some food. I'm gonna

  870. talk a little bit. They're like, oh yeah, okay, cool

  871. free food. You're just gonna talk. Yeah, that's all it is.

  872. They come in. We're in this little dingy club downtown.

  873. It's dark. They walk in. All of a sudden, I'm

  874. cracking over this book. Here's the truth of God's word.

  875. Like I was just going. But it was in those moments.

  876. It was in that place. It was in those meetings

  877. with my friends who had moved from around the country

  878. to help us start a church. It was then when

  879. I bought this Bible. Let me read this to you.

  880. I forgot this was in here, Thank you Holy Spirit.

  881. The front of my Bible.

  882. This is very funny. I'll get emotional reading this. So

  883. it's the presented to Bible. So just in Oya's Bible,

  884. I wrote, presented from Pastor Charles to O yay on

  885. this date on the occasion of So it's like a

  886. whole thing in the front of your Bible.

  887. And at the time I didn't have nobody in my

  888. life like that.

  889. So my Bible says, presented you Charles Henry metcalf third

  890. by is blank.

  891. Did nobody present this Bible to me.

  892. I presented it to myself and it says on the

  893. occasion of following Jesus February twenty eighth, twenty sixteen.

  894. So in that moment when I started cracking open this

  895. book and figuring.

  896. Out what it meant for my life, it was there

  897. God started doing something. It was there that that gift

  898. that He put on the inside of me started stirring

  899. in a different way.

  900. It was earlier than that. See, this is why you

  901. gotta be careful.

  902. What you label people at a young age, because if

  903. you go back and look at all my report cards,

  904. it says the same thing. Good student but talks too much,

  905. Good student but a little distracting.

  906. Okay, yes, in sixth grade.

  907. But miss Williams said, it all makes sense now, don't

  908. I See.

  909. I'm telling you I want to encourage you.

  910. God has placed something unique on the inside of you,

  911. something of infinite.

  912. Value, and when he chooses you.

  913. There is no amount of time, there is no trauma,

  914. There is nothing that can take away the fact that

  915. He chose you.

  916. John fifteen sixteen says this, You didn't choose me.

  917. Remember, See, some of us get cocky enough to think

  918. you chose God. You didn't choose God before you were

  919. even alive. He climbed up on that cross, before you

  920. were ever looking in his direction.

  921. He says, you didn't choose me.

  922. Remember I chose you. And today I want to encourage

  923. you that maybe the idea that God chose you has faded.

  924. Maybe the life you have lived.

  925. Does it look like you're chosen and called out. But

  926. want to encourage you with the confession that you can say,

  927. I'm still chosen. There's been some time, there's been some pain,

  928. but I'm still chosen. I've made mistakes I'm not proud of,

  929. but I'm still chosen. I let other people define my gift.

  930. I let other people talk me into things I would

  931. never do, but I'm still chosen.

  932. I've ran from it for a long time.

  933. I've acted like I didn't want to do it, when

  934. the truth is I just knew it would require so

  935. much of me that I would have to give up

  936. everything I've ever loved to do it. And I know

  937. I'm working through that, but I'm still chosen. I've got

  938. some questions about some things in that book, and I

  939. don't understand it all, but I'm still here and I'm

  940. still going to church because I'm still chosen. I prayed

  941. for my kids and they're not acting right now how

  942. I thought.

  943. I raised them, And now they're going through stuff.

  944. That I thought I dealt with, but I realized I

  945. didn't deal with it.

  946. I just yelled and shouted.

  947. I didn't ever talk about what I went through, and

  948. so it's passed on and now I see that, and

  949. now I'm a little broken because I can't go back

  950. and fix it. But don't get it twisted. God still

  951. chose me to be their parents, and as long as

  952. they're still alive, I'm gonna do the best I can.

  953. Somebody say I'm still chosen, You're still chosen.

  954. I want to give you four things.

  955. It's the exact same four things when I preach God

  956. chose me. But I think for the person who needs

  957. to be reminded today, you need to be reminded you're

  958. still chosen. And here's what needs to happen because you're chosen.

  959. The first thing I need you to do is I

  960. need you to start getting ready.

  961. I know there's been some time.

  962. I know you wrote those plans and you're gonna have

  963. to go back and dust those things off.

  964. But I need you to start getting ready.

  965. Come on, look at your neighbor and say you need

  966. to start getting ready.

  967. Now.

  968. Depending on your personality type, some of y'all need to

  969. start sooner than others.

  970. Come on, now, come on.

  971. Me and my wife were getting ready to go somewhere,

  972. and it'd be one of those things.

  973. Now.

  974. Very honestly, this isn't a great example because given the day.

  975. If flip flops, who's really behind. It's either I'm.

  976. Ready and I'll me with this first year marriage, I

  977. get ready and abby, or going somewhere I get ready

  978. boom and not because I'm fast the getting ready.

  979. I actually take super long to pick out my clothes.

  980. I've been picking out my clothes the day before every

  981. single day since sixth grade.

  982. Some of you are like, Charles, that's a problem. Do

  983. you see how great I look? Though? So is it?

  984. Come on, it's not an accident anyways.

  985. Sixth grade, sixth grade, I've been doing this, like would

  986. lay my clothes out like next to me. Come on,

  987. anybody ever do that like you're laying in the bed.

  988. I went to a private school too. I was wearing like.

  989. The same shirt and tan pants, and I'd be like,

  990. is that gonna go with the Okay, yeah, we're good.

  991. So if I take a long time to get ready,

  992. it's because I didn't get to pick out my clothes

  993. the night before. But first year marriage, I pre prep

  994. my clothes and I get ready and I'm sitting on

  995. the couch. Abby takes like forty five extra minutes and

  996. then walks out and says some of the most cutting

  997. words that almost sent our.

  998. Marriage into the tailspin.

  999. She walks out, she says, this ready when you are ready?

1000. When I am, I have okay, let me just that,

1001. And then I was I literally had a moment, and

1002. then a little bit she did it again. I was like,

1003. you have got Literally one time, I was like, you

  1004. gotta stop saying that.

  1005. You have to stop.

1006. She's like, what, I'm just saying, I'm ready when you

1007. I was like, the problem is I've been ready. You're

1008. the one who wasn't ready, and you're gonna try to

  1009. flip it like I wasn't ready.

1010. I've been sitting here watching The Office. I'm through season eight.

1011. Because you didn't think about your outfit the night before,

1012. you should have listen to me.

1013. Anyways, I'm still chosen though, even though my first year

1014. of marriage was a little rough.

1015. Sometimes you gotta start getting ready a little earlier than

  1016. you think.

1017. You gotta start getting some plans together.

1018. Some of you need to start living how you want

1019. to live when you will be married. Don't wait to

1020. get married and then try to change your whole schedule.

  1021. Live how you.

1022. Want to live now, Live how when you're debt free?

1023. Now live how when you own your own house. Now

1024. you gotta start getting ready. There's some stuff we save

1025. for other seasons, thinking, oh, yeah, I'll just be able

1026. to flip that switch when I get there.

1027. Nobody, that's not how it works. You gotta decide before. Yeah,

1028. I'm wilding right now. But when I get married, you know,

1029. I'm gonna shure up. I'm gonna really just lock in.

1030. I'm gonna stop dming all these ladies.

1031. You know, I'll just just magically, I won't look at

1032. poor no more, and I won't even be tempted. Women

1033. will become ugly to me when I get married. That's dumb.

  1034. That's dumb, and it's not biblical.

1035. Stop acting a fool. Get it together now.

1036. It's not just for the fellows neither, because some of

  1037. you'll ladies be wiling.

1038. We see your your close friends.

1039. Got a lot of non close friends on there that

1040. you're trying to holler at. Let's be oh see that

1041. the ladies got quiet, Like, okay, move on.

1042. It's not funny. It's so funny. How quick I become

1043. not funny when it hits.

1044. It's like like this guy's okay, be quiet.

1045. Number two. Everybody say number two.

1046. When you believe God chose me, you gotta live ridiculous.

1047. If you want to live safe, Jesus may not be

1048. for you. Oh yeah, I don't know how this happened.

1049. Think about this. The marker of this belief system is

1050. a man who was murdered, and then all his friends

1051. were murdered, and then somehow in twenty twenty four we

1052. sell people, Yeah, follow this man, and you're life gets

1053. easy and you can live safe and he'll protect you

1054. and everything will be fine if you follow Jesus. That

1055. doesn't match up with the book he said in this

1056. life you will have trials. Here's why Jesus is so

1057. gangster and why you can live ridiculous because Jesus defeated

1058. the thing that we are most afraid of. Paul goes

1059. on to write in another book, He's like, you know,

1060. I don't really know if I should die or if

1061. I should be here, and it's kind of like, whoa, Paul,

  1062. that's a little morbid.

  1063. No.

1064. He was so connected to going to be with Jesus.

1065. One day and he realized that when we leave here,

  1066. it's actually us returning.

  1067. Home, not leaving.

1068. Home, because the Bible says I'm not even from here.

1069. He was so connected to that idea. He's writing his

1070. friends like, you know, if I stay, it's kind of

1071. better for you, but if I go, it be way

1072. better for me. And I kind of want to die

1073. to go see Jesus, but then you'd probably be freaked

1074. out and you'd believing all those crazy people.

1075. So I think I'll stay. The only way you live.

1076. In a ridiculous manner is if you realize who chose you,

1077. that who chose you is not from this planet.

1078. He's not from this system. He's not from the world.

1079. So when he asked you to do stuff, it's gonna

1080. seem ridiculous if you're in this system.

1081. I was talking to my little.

1082. Boy and we were talking about one of our friends

1083. who had passed, and I said, Bro, isn't this the

1084. coolest thing? Somebody actually our friend Katie, she wrote this

1085. poem and it was the most gang it was even

1086. a poem. It was like a battle rap and she

1087. crushed the devil. It was like so gangster. But she said,

1088. she said this line. She was like first streets, stepping

1089. on streets of gold. And the idea was, I said, Buddy,

1090. isn't it insane that they're going to get to walk

1091. in heaven the streets are gold?

1092. And he was like no. I was like yes. I

1093. was like, see Daddy's necklace.

1094. This little it's fourteen Carrit played it, but you know

1095. it like it's kind of like this. But I told

1096. I was like, in heaven the streets are gold.

1097. So how you ride your bike just out and you

1098. be drawing on it? You know, that's what gold is

  1099. in heaven.

1100. And just that one idea tells me, oh, when God

1101. asked me to do something, he's walking on streets of gold.

1102. So the paradigm with which he thinks is very different.

1103. Because the thing that's most valuable to you is like

  1104. the roads in heaven.

1105. So if you look to make.

1106. Sense of it in earth, think about the last time.

1107. You were on the road, Like, wow, what a street.

1108. This is amazing? I cannot.

1109. But you don't think about it at all.

1110. You don't look at it, you don't value it, you.

1111. Don't think nothing of it because it's just the road.

1112. It's just a means to get me from here to

1113. where I'm going. And can I tell you, in heaven,

1114. that's all worldly stuff is they got the most precious

1115. things laid on the street, because there's more where that

1116. comes from. Because when you get to heaven, you ain't

1117. gonna be worried about your fate go necklace. You're gonna

1118. be singing, Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord, God Allmighty.

1119. And if I know God chose me, I'm gonna start

1120. living like it. I'm gonna start praying like it.

1121. I'm gonna start witnessing to my friends like I'm chosen.

1122. You gotta get ready you live ridiculous.

1123. The next one is, is it you live reverent?

1124. Because the idea that God chose you is a very

  1125. humbling idea.

1126. Heard somebody say it's not about what you know, it's

  1127. about who you know.

  1128. But I think what's even.

1129. More powerful that is, it's not about who you know,

1130. but about who knows you.

1131. Come on, you know, Beyonce, But Beyonce do not know you.

1132. Not only do I know God, but God knows me.

1133. I'll read about him, but he knows me. He knows

1134. my thoughts, he knows my pain. The scripture says, we

1135. do not have a high priest that cannot relate to us,

1136. for he was tempted in every way, yet without sin.

1137. He knows what it feels like to be stuck between

1138. a decision. He knows what it is to be anxious,

1139. and so anxious that a biological system in his body

1140. responds and he physically starts to sweat blood.

1141. YEA, yeah, Jesus knows how you feel. He knows what

  1142. you're going through.

1143. And when you start to consider the fact that you

1144. are chosen not by just anybody, but by the creator

1145. of the universe. You aren't chosen by some random committee,

1146. but you are chosen by the one that said, let

1147. there be light, and there was light.

1148. There's a reverence that understands this. He could have chosen anybody.

1149. I know you're frustrated with what you're going through, and

1150. I know you wish it was different. But he could

1151. have put somebody else in your spot. He could have

1152. gave those kids to somebody else, could have put that

1153. friend in somebody else's circle, but he put them in

  1154. your circle.

  1155. Because we all.

1156. Frustrate with people until they're not here. We're all mad

1157. at people until you don't get.

  1158. A chance to say I'm sorry.

1159. So before you curse where God puts you, why don't

1160. you realize maybe he had an idea in mind. Maybe

1161. he's greater and his thoughts are higher. You gotta get ready,

1162. you gotta live ridiculous, you gotta be reverent.

1163. And the last one is you gotta be resilient.

1164. When you realize God chose you, when you realize he's

1165. the one who picked you, when you realized what is

1166. on the inside of you. The Bible says, the same

1167. spirit that raised Christ from the dead is on the

1168. inside of you. There is no situation you go through

1169. that you cannot get back up from. And I want

1170. to encourage somebody who feels like you've fallen a lot

1171. of times. You're falling on your face in front of everybody.

1172. You said you were going to pray and believe God

1173. and it was going to work out, and you feel

1174. like it didn't work out, and now you're embarrassed, or

1175. you worked really hard and you didn't get into the school,

1176. or you're trying to get over that addiction and you

  1177. just still keep.

1178. Falling, and you're in another rehab and you're in another

1179. situation that you said you'd never be in.

1180. I want to remind you you are still chosen. You

1181. are still called. The gift that God gave you is

1182. still on the inside of you. It's covered up by

1183. some pain, it's covered up by some life. But I

1184. promise you there is not a place that God cannot

  1185. get to.

  1186. You are still chosen.

1187. As long as there is breath in your body, you

1188. can say I'm still chosen. Life is not perfect, but

  1189. I'm still chosen. I'm limping a little bit, but I'm

1190. still chosen. I'm a little pain, and the people who

1191. I thought were there are not here anymore. But I'm

1192. still chosen. We're talking about the Word of God. I'm

1193. going to ask a team to begin to play. We're

1194. going to close out service. The series is the Word

1195. of God. To close out, I want to remind you.

1196. Not what the Word of God is, but who the

  1197. Word of God is.

1198. We're not talking about a book, but the Bible says

1199. in the beginning the Word already existed and the Word

1200. was with God, and the Word was God.

1201. He existed in the beginning with him, and God created

1202. everything through him, and nothing was created except through him.

1203. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and

1204. his life brought light to everyone.

  1205. And that light shines.

1206. In the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it

1207. verse fourteen. So the Word became human and made his

1208. home among us. And he was full of unfailing love

1209. and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory and the

1210. glory of the Father's one.

1211. And only son. The Word of God is not just

1212. a book. It is a person. And his name is Jesus.

1213. And what if I told you every time you interact

1214. with this book, you are not interacting with pages, but

1215. you're interacting with a person, that Jesus, who is closer

1216. to you than your very own breath, that is close

1217. to the broken hearted, that is near to those who

1218. are contrary in spirit. If you crack open this book

1219. and you begin to read this story, you're questioning, am

  1220. I still chosen?

1221. Or am I still called? Or am I still important?

1222. When you begin to open up this story, Jesus himself

1223. is their ministrying to you. Jesus himself is saying, Hey,

1224. I've still got a plan for you. Hey, it's not

1225. over until I say it's over. Hey, there's no thing

  1226. I cannot turn around.

1227. You are still chosen. Must everybody to stand up in

1228. this room if you would.

1229. Pray for two groups of people, and then I'm gonna

1230. ask the worship team to lead us in some worship.

  1231. Two groups of people.

1232. First group of people is maybe you're struggling to believe

1233. the idea that you're still chosen.

  1234. I don't know why.

1235. I don't know the reason, but maybe you are here

1236. today and the idea that you are still chosen.

  1237. Is far from you.

1238. I'ma ask everybody, if it's not an emergency, I you

1239. you'd stay still for just two more minutes. I'm gonna

1240. ask everybody, boy your heads and close your eyes. If

1241. you need some sort of encouragement that's bigger than human

1242. source that comes from a place that I cannot give you,

1243. but comes directly from God.

1244. If you need the reminder and.

1245. The confidence to live as if God chose you, I'm

1246. gonna ask you to do something bold, because I believe

1247. He's put this on the inside of you.

1248. Would you raise your hand right now all over the room.

1249. If you say I need the reminder I'm still chosen,

  1250. I feel like I've forgotten it.

  1251. I feel a little beat up, i feel a little down.

1252. But I'm gonna start living as if I'm chosen.

  1253. Holy Spirit.

1254. Right now, every person you see them with their hand raised, God,

1255. I thank you first of all, Lord, that even the

1256. courage to raise their hand hand is the honesty to

1257. admit where they really are. God, I thank you you

1258. are doing something right now that they would be reminded

1259. that it was no person, It was no human that

1260. put that on the inside of them. But it was you,

1261. God that put that gift on the inside of them.

1262. It was you who called them. It is you who

1263. sees them. And I speak against any lie right.

1264. Now that your past is too much for your future,

1265. that your mistakes have decided about you.

1266. Your story is not over. There is so much more

1267. to what God is writing.

1268. And God, I thank you that what happens from today

1269. forward will be the best of them.

1270. Lord God, that the gifting is.

1271. More on this side of the story, that the grace

1272. is more on this side of the story, that the

1273. confidence is more, that the contentment is more.

1274. Thank you Jesus, Every hand down. If you're in this room,

  1275. if you've.

1276. Never accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior, this

  1277. is the gospel.

1278. The gospel is summed up.

1279. God chose you before you were living, right, before you

1280. were doing right, before you were doing anything. The gospel

1281. is Jesus came to this earth, he lived a perfect life.

1282. He died for you and for me. Why did he

  1283. do that?

1284. Because our sin, when we mess up, when we make

1285. a mistake, it separates us from God. And regardless of

1286. if you would call it sin or not, you've all

1287. felt the feeling of being separated. It feels cold, it

1288. feels isolating, it feels hopeless. That is what sin does

1289. to us. But the good news, friend, is that Jesus

1290. came and he took your place so that you didn't

1291. have to feel that way, so you didn't have to

1292. walk through life alone, so you didn't have to come up.

1293. With answers that you don't have.

1294. But Jesus himself stands ready to be your help.

1295. All you gotta do is surrender. All you got to

1296. do is say I give up. All you got to

1297. do is say, Jesus, you are my savior. So here's

  1298. all gonna do.

1299. Everybody, bow your heads, close your eyes, just out of

1300. a moment to refocus on where you are with God.

1301. If you're in this room, I'm gonna count to three.

1302. If you're watching online, I'm gonna count the three and

1303. on the count of three, if you want to accept

1304. Jesus as your Lord and savior, you are saying he

1305. is in control of my life.

1306. I give it to him.

1307. I'm done running and I'm done doing it by myself.

1308. On the count of three, I want you to raise

1309. your hand boldly. Don't be ashamed, don't worry about it.

1310. You're gonna raise your hand.

1311. High because this is the best decision you have ever made.

  1312. One.

1313. He loves you too, He's proud of you. Three, lift

1314. your hand right now. If you want to accept Jesus,

1315. come on, boldly, lift it up. Come on, lift it up,

1316. Lift it up, Lift it up.

1317. Oh, come on, lift it up. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,

1318. come on. I'm so proud of you. Hey, listen, here's

1319. what I want you to do.

1320. If you've got your hand up right now, we have

1321. a gift for you. The word of God is so important.

1322. I told the team everybody who give their life to

1323. Jesus is getting a Bible. So if you raise your hand,

1324. raise your hand right now, and our team is.

1325. Bringing you a Bible right now. Come on, keep your

  1326. hand up.

1327. If you see somebody around, make sure they get that bible.

1328. Come on, we got bibles for days. We're gonna make

  1329. sure everybody gets one.

1330. If you still ain't got your Bible, be like, hey,

1331. don't play me, give me my bible. He said, I

1332. could have one that's a fourteen ninety nine value.

  1333. I want my Bible.

1334. All right, here's what we're gonna do. I'm gonna pray

1335. for all of us. I'm gonna invite the worship team

1336. to go ahead and come up. And if you need

1337. prayer for anything, if you need prayer for anything, anything

1338. at all, some of our prayer team is gonna be

1339. in the front. Also, a lot of our team is

1340. gonna be in the back. They're gonna put a big

1341. sign up there that says prayer. If you just need

1342. to worship, maybe you just need to focus in. Maybe

1343. God spoke to you something and it's stirring in your heart.

1344. And you're like, oh my gosh, what does it mean

1345. to be chosen? And God, I can't believe this. But

1346. team's gonna worship, We're gonna pray. I believe something powerful

1347. is gonna happen. If you just gave your life.

1348. To Jesus, we would love to know about it. If

1349. somebody in your role, I'm gonna ask you.

1350. We gave you the Bible. If somebody in your role

1351. raise their hands, I want you to give them a hug.

1352. You don't have to do it right now if it

1353. makes sense, but you know, don't be weird about it.

1354. But we love you. I'm proud of you. It's a

1355. big deal. That's a decision you could ever make. And

1356. then if you want to let us know, we would

1357. love to know about it. If you text the word

1358. saved to the number on the screen, the team will

  1359. connect with you.

1360. But I'm gonna ask everybody to lift your hands.

1361. Role, we're gonna lead and worship God. I pray a

  1362. blessing over this room.

1363. I thank you that this room is still chosen, chosen

1364. by you for great things, chosen by You Lord, to

1365. do things that their eye has not seen. And I

1366. thank you, Lord Jesus that even though people may have

1367. a past, Lord God, it's not more powerful than you are.

  1368. So God right now.

1369. I thank you though, that they would feel the confidence

1370. Lord Jesus to know who they are. That I am,

1371. I'm chosen by God. It's in the beautiful name of Jesus.

1372. We pray and everybody said, come on, everybody said, thank

1373. you for joining us today.

1374. If you said that prayer and accept it Jesus into

1375. your heart, it's the best decision you could ever make.
