Welcome to Transformation Church Podcast, where we represent God to
-
the lost and found for transformation in Christ. We're so
-
glad you're here and wherever you're listening from, we believe
-
God will transform your life. Do today's message.
-
Hi, I love y'all. So good to see you, so
-
grateful to be here with you all, and so honored
-
to serve today. I'm so grateful for your pastors Michael
-
and Natalie and the visionaries that they are to this
-
house and to TC nation literally all over the world.
-
Thank you all for being a part of this movement,
-
this church. So happy for pastors Charles and Abby and
-
anybody else that needs to quit their church. I can help.
-
You're about to make a decision and you need some
-
high led your boy, I help you out. I guess.
-
I'm so excited to be a part of the series.
-
It could not have come to me at a more
-
specific time and a more relevant time. We have been
-
in the series called Receipts right, and Michael has walked
-
us through all of these attributes that contained the fruit
-
of the Holy Spirit. There's no s on the end
-
of it. This is not bananas and grapes and apples
-
and cherries. It's one fruit that has all of these
-
different attributes in it. And growing up Pentecostal charismatic, I
-
saw firsthand people that claimed to have the Holy Ghost
-
but didn't not bear any of that fruit. And so
-
I'm so grateful for a pastor that would literally slow
-
walk us through week by week by week by week
-
by week, just all the things that the Holy Spirit
-
living in us produces through us. And it is no
-
accident that I'm supposed to talk about what I'm supposed
-
to talk about today, Because child, when I tell you
-
I've been tested the last six days, I think it
-
was the Holy Spirit's quality assurance check to make sure,
-
like I want to make sure you have this receipt
-
in your pocket. You You know how some people, when
-
you get a receipt, if you're good with your money
-
and your taxes and stuff, you keep receipts and you
-
file them away. I think the Holy Spirit was like, pat,
-
my pocket is like you need to have this on
-
you now, and I'm gonna make sure you have it
-
on you. So I'm my assignment today is gentleness. We
-
have to talk about this gentleness that the Holy Spirit,
-
the person of the Holy Spirit, produces in and through us.
-
I know we've been walking through this for weeks now,
-
but I want to read Galatians five, twenty two and
-
twenty three again because I'm a word guy, and yeah,
-
I just can't get tired of the Bible. But the
-
Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness.
-
My weak gentleness the hood dude from CALLI whose brother
-
founded a gang gentleness. Yes, so if you're taking notes,
-
how many note takers do I have in the room? Yes,
-
you better be keep your hand up if you will,
-
because you a nerd. If you take notes, keep your
-
hand up. Don't be ashamed. But now that your hand
-
is up, look down your role at who's not raising
-
their hand because those people will work for you one day.
-
Because nerds rule the world. I'm so sorry the people
-
that take the notes, they actually ruled the world. So
-
two words, write this down. This is a regular degglar
-
like I don't have no jazzy message. Two words be gentle.
-
That's the title of this message. Be gentle. Would you
-
say that with me? Be gentle? Would you do it
-
at my cadence? Please be gentle one more time? Be
-
gentle by your hands. Let's pray. Holy Spirit help us
-
to be gentle. Amen, this is a praying church. If
-
you need me to go into more intercession, how much?
-
What are you doing? I'm the one you went over
-
for Thanksgiving dinner. Because we will eat it while it's hot.
-
We'll pray for nations later. We're gonna eat this mac
-
and cheese. Now, I just Mike has done an incredible
-
job walking us through this series. I just want to
-
remind you that when it comes to the attributes that
-
we have been articulating in the last several weeks, when
-
we're talking about the Holy Spirit's fruit, I need you
-
to keep in mind that the Holy Spirit does not
-
care about your personality. If the Holy Spirit's in you,
-
he is going to make you produce this fruit. He
-
does not care that you are not a loving person.
-
He's going to make you love. He does not care
-
that you're impatient person. He's gonna make you patient. He
-
does not care if you're not a gentle person. That's
-
just not me. He's gonna make you him.
-
You was never meant to be you. He did not
-
die for you to be you.
-
Jesus died for you to turn into him. So I
-
just want to establish the groundwork first. You can't skip
-
none of these attributes. Patience ain't my weak you know,
-
that's just not the way I'm wired. Oh you gonna be.
-
If you're really submitted to the Holy Spirit's work in
-
your life, you are going to turn into this type
-
of person. Ask me how I know, because for the
-
last twenty eight years he has been turning me into
-
him in ways I never asked for. I never once
-
came to the altar like Lord, make me a patient person.
-
He just put me in situations that produce that fruit.
-
I call it the tea bag test. You never gonna
-
know what you gotta not until you put it into
-
a pot that's boiling hot. It's just better when it rhymes.
-
It's the tea bag test. You never gonna know what
-
you gotta not until you put it in a pot
-
that's boiling hot. Why do I say that, because until
-
you are putting hot water, you don't know what's in you.
-
I could hold back, I could hold up a tea
-
bag from right here. You without having a laser acute
-
awareness and desernment, you wouldn't be able to go. That's
-
Cammel that's ginger. But you put it in hot water
-
and whatever is on the inside is gonna seep out.
-
And you don't know that you have these attributes until
-
you are putting situations where it's gonna be imperative. Oh
-
they got that fruit or God still working on them,
-
y'all pray they strengthen the Lord. They not, they don't
-
have it yet. So so I wanna, I want to
-
deal with three ways that gentleness uh shows up in
-
our lives as manifest through the Holy Spirit. In our lives.
-
It comes through accents, It comes through our attitude, and
-
it comes through our actions. Gentleness is an accent. It
-
is an attitude, and it is an action. We say
-
it one more time. Gentleness is an accent. It is
-
an attitude, and it is an action. Let's deal with
-
the accent first. Proverbs fifteen one says, a gentle answer
-
deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flair. Proverbs fifteen four.
-
Gentle words are a tree of life. The deceitful tongue
-
crushes the spirit. Proverbs twenty five to fifteen. Patience can
-
persuade a prince, and soft speech. New King James literally
-
says gentle words can break bones. Do you have the
-
accent of gentleness? How do you talk to the people
-
that you love? How do you talk to the people
-
that you hate? Because when he produces the fruit of
-
gentleness in your heart, it's not just for people that
-
are nice. When you get the accent, it's supposed to
-
work on people that you love and people that you hate.
-
It's supposed to work on people that you like and
-
people that you dislike. Never did I get checked more
-
by the Holy Spirit than when I got married to Juliet.
-
I could not believe how much he was on my
-
neck when I got married to this girl. Now, I
-
come from a loud family. We just loud for no reason.
-
We loud all the time. And when you are from
-
a family that's loud, you know you loud because everybody
-
is loud. So this is normal tone for me. And
-
I'm not even hype yet I come in the house.
-
What's good? Nothing was even funny? Just walked in the out. God,
-
we just loud. Did I get married to Juliet? Were
-
talking about something. She's like, well, babe, I don't really
-
like that you did that, And I was like, I wouldn't.
-
I don't see what the problem is. And she's like,
-
why are you yelling. I'm like, I ain't yelling. I'm
-
just passionate about what we're talking about right now. I mean,
-
you said your part, I'm saying my part. I don't
-
see what the big deal is. Ain't nobody mad, This's
-
just my tone. So then I wake up to have
-
my devotion time. For he is Lord, he Lord, he
-
has risen from the dead, and he is Lord. Every
-
neee shell bound, every tongue comenfast, that Gie sus Christ
-
is Lord, Holy Spirit. I want to talk to but
-
I want to talk to you about your tone last night.
-
For He's my Lord, He's my Lord. Like, because you
-
can't be talking to me about my tone last night.
-
Did you hear her tone last night? He said, I
-
want to talk to you about your tone last night.
-
I want to talk to you about your accent. I
-
was not gentle. That was not gentle. Yes, it was.
-
Anybody beside me have a conversation with the Holy Spirit.
-
You're just not gonna talk to me, and I'm not
-
gonna talk back. I know you a Holy Spirit. I'm
-
not gonna disrespect you, and you're gonna get this feedback
-
from me because I don't. I just you the one
-
brought the subject up. So he said, this is literally
-
what he said to me. He said, I want you
-
to watch your tone with my daughter. I said, have
-
you had this same conversation with her? She said, we
-
ain't talking about her right now. And can I just
-
pause and say, when the Holy Spirit is speaking, ninety
-
nine point two percent of the time he talking about you.
-
If you hear a spirit speaking to you about other
-
people in the negative all the time, that's not the
-
Holy Spirit. Oh it's a spirit. It's just not the
-
Holy Spirit. It's a demonic spirit. A demon wants to
-
talk to you about other people. The Holy Spirit wants
-
to talk to you about you. He not checking for
-
the other person. He wants to know do you have
-
the receipt? We ain't talking about they receive. We talking
-
about yours. Fix your tom gotta fix your accent. I'm
-
learning Spanish right now, and the accent is so important.
-
It actually communicates to Spanish speaking people that you're actually
-
doing the work to to to sound like an authentic
-
Spanish speaker. Estory uprendiendo espaniol see see Estori trabajando doro.
-
If I were to walk up to a Spanish speaking
-
person and say as stoy I prindiendo as spanel like
-
they would be like, okay, that's moui my, that's mouie
-
mooi my better. Okay, the accent is important. You can't
-
fake gentleness. Let me tell you what fake gentleness actually is. Pettiness.
-
I couldn't go back to Juliet and say, Holy Spirit,
-
tell me to fix my tone. So I mean, you
-
know I'm gentle. Now you happy? Ye? Sorry, you're good.
-
I won't be loud, no harm you are right now,
-
it's my tone. Good Now can you hear me? Now
-
you're not gentle, you're petty. So the accent has to
-
be precise. You gotta roll your rs. That's not Roberto,
-
that's Roberto. If he deep in Latin America, he's Rigoberto. Right.
-
So the accent is important. Everybody say the accent is important.
-
You got to get the accent right. Gentleness is an accent.
-
It is a tone, and you don't know if you
-
got it until somebody hit you with something where you
-
would usually be like what and then you like what
-
it's a tone? When I tell you I've been tested
-
with this real time. In the last six days, my
-
family has been threatened twice, and I received notification from
-
a friend of mine that I'm part of the Christian Illuminati.
-
I didn't even know until last night. And I am
-
a hood dude from Cali. I started rapping when I
-
was nine years old. I started battle rapping when I
-
was thirteen. I was always a skinny dude. Everybody used
-
to bag on me, so I got really, really precise
-
with my words. I have made grown men cry pre salvation.
-
I'm not proud of it. I'm not like trying to
-
say it like bye, but so, and that's my first nature.
-
I was born in sin shape, in iniquity, and so
-
when somebody comes at me, I'd be like, you go first,
-
I go last. There's no rounds. You going first, and
-
I'm going last because when I'm done, you're gonna need therapy.
-
For seven years, I never played fair. Folks would be like,
-
you so skinny, you you look like you're from Ethiopia,
-
and they would sing literally, we are the world, we
-
are the children. Like when me and my brother walked
-
to school, they'd be like, they called us the Ethiopian twins.
-
It was sad, it was very sad. I appreciate your sentiment,
-
but I was like, where's your dad? You have no dad,
-
you have no future tempers with flair And because I'm skinny,
-
Iran I did. I wouldn't. I would have got beat up.
-
So I ran as a believer in Jesus all that
-
is still in me. Here's what you gotta. This is
-
why you gotta keep your receipts on you. You can't
-
have them filed a way that tastes too long ago,
-
rumming them up. They gotta be on you because when
-
you get tested, you gotta produce the receipt right then
-
and there. You don't get to spaz and then come back.
-
I'm so sorry I acted unseemingly in that moment. No,
-
at some point, the Holy Spirit should be producing enough
-
fruit that you get to the back to the house
-
later and you go. I used to cut people. I
-
didn't even like. I didn't. I did not.
-
Even this past week would would have been.
-
I would have been justified. They text my wife. This
-
wasn't like a comment on social media. They got the
-
number and text that's grounds for termination. And the only
-
tone either one of us had was, oh man, we
-
have to pray for this person. They're hurting. They're really
-
really hurting, which brings us to the attitude. Let's go
-
through these attitude scriptures I'm giving you. I'm giving you
-
scriptures and passages so you can stand on the word.
-
When it comes to gentleness. You gotta have a word
-
to stand on. And I'm telling you, when you start
-
producing this type of food in your life, when it
-
really manifests, your life becomes so much easier because you're
-
not gonna be dealing with what other people deal with.
-
Other people are stressing, they're fragile. Every post is triggering them,
-
and you're just like, it's fine. People disagree with you,
-
and and and try to pick fights, and you're just like,
-
it's fine. You're gonna be alright because I've produced I'm
-
producing gentleness. Matthew Chapter number eleven, twenty nine says this,
-
this is Jesus talking. Take my yoke upon you. Let
-
me teach you because I am humble and gentle at heart.
-
This is an attitude, and you will find rest for
-
your souls Ephesians four two. Always be humble and gentle.
-
So this is not something that you like pick up
-
and put down. This is meant to be a permanent
-
attribute of the Holy Spirit. All of them are always
-
be humble and gentle, be patient with each other, make
-
allowance for each other's faults because of your love. Can
-
I pause right here? Gentleness produces understanding. When you really
-
take on the attribute of gentleness, understanding is one of
-
the subsequent results because when you're interacting with people and
-
when you're in relationships and you become a gentle soul,
-
other people don't bother you no more because you understand them.
-
You simply understand when this person doesn't eat, they are angry.
-
It is not personal. You understand other people. You know what.
-
The only reason why this person keeps lashing out like
-
this is because they have an untreated father wound. This
-
has nothing to do with me. This has to do
-
with their family of origin. Between zero and six years old,
-
I was not around. However, I'm the closest thing to
-
them right now, and so they're taking it out on me.
-
You don't have to internalize and personalize everything when you're gentle,
-
because gentleness produces understanding. Everything ain't about you. I'm gonna
-
help some i'mna free some people. Right now, The average
-
person in this room doesn't have one hater, let alone. Five.
-
You can't hate somebody you don't know. What you have
-
is a misunderstanding from afar. Somebody misunderstood your Facebook posts
-
and wrote your angry dissertation and response, and if you
-
read it thoroughly, you will find out they don't know me.
-
They're not even mad at me.
-
They're mad at somebody.
-
Else that they can't reach, and so they put something
-
in my comments section. That's all that is one Timothy
-
three to three. This is a qualification for a leader. Lord,
-
have mercy. We need to do a review for these leaders.
-
First Timothy three to three. He must not be a
-
heavy drinker or be violent. He must be gentle. This
-
next two words is in contrast to the gentleness not quarrelsome,
-
and not love money. Hear me attitude. He must be gentle,
-
not quarrelsome. He must be gentle, not quarrelsome. A gentle
-
person does not argue. I'm not saying that they don't
-
have conversation or they can't even be in a heated exchange.
-
What I'm saying is they're not a nitpicky, crawlsome person.
-
They're not looking for a negative thing to attack and
-
to always bring up and condescend and talk down. A
-
gentle person doesn't do that. A gentle person has all
-
the other attributes that Mike has taught, and then they're gentle.
-
Never have I found out how much I have this receipt.
-
It must not be in my pocket, It must be
-
pinned to my chest. The last two years of the podcaster,
-
I can't tell you how many people have been trying
-
to pick fights. But that receipt is in my pocket.
-
There's bread I pocket on this side, and there's gentlehen
-
it's in my pocket on this side. So the reaction
-
video and the comments, actions and this, that and the other,
-
I'm just like, oh, they want to fight? Holy Spirit,
-
can I fight? He's like no, And I'm like, but
-
I are you sure. I can't tell y'all how many
-
times I have been in the comment section and take
-
and and and and literally written out what I thought
-
was a Holy Spirit response. And the Holy Spirit is
-
on the inside of me watching me type the whole thing,
-
and I'm literally checking in like this good right, Like
-
this is good. This gotta be good, right, this gotta
-
be good, And the Holy Spirit is like he lets
-
me get the whole thing done. Then he's like, delete that.
-
Anybody beside me. I mean you crafted it. You had
-
scriptures everything I got there. I mean the whole thing
-
was structured. I had hyper leaks everything. I mean that
-
thing was. I put logos, Bible app quotations in the middle,
-
like the whole thing was ready, and the Holy Spirit
-
was like delete that. I was like, why can't that?
-
The Holy Spirit just gave me my parameters. The parameters
-
are you are not to engage with anybody unless you
-
are talking to them in person. It's easy to hate
-
somebody afar off. It's hard to hate up close. I
-
need to feel your energy. I can't feel that through
-
a text. I can't feel that through a comment. I
-
need to feel. I need to attuned to your nervous system.
-
I need to know what's going on to I need
-
to pick up on the traumatic wounds because the heart
-
is talking, but I don't know where you are. Gentleness
-
allows you to have at So we have accent. We
-
have the attitude of gentleness. I want to deal with
-
now the actions. And there are these two passages in
-
James and and Peter that are profound to me. So
-
I just want you to here. Can I just encourage
-
everybody if you haven't done so. If you've never done this,
-
I want you to feel no shame. But if you've
-
never read the whole Bible, I implore you to read
-
the whole Bible. If you've never you know, when when
-
people get saved, they'll say, hey, I'm a new believer,
-
where should I start? And I'm like, from Genesis. I mean,
-
it's the beginning, but I don't understand. And then the
-
Begats and them all them big names, and I'm just like,
-
just read it. Because the Holy Spirit given by Jesus
-
promise that he would bring all things back to your memory,
-
but he can't bring you back if it ain't in there.
-
So I think a lot of people have been playing
-
duck duck goose with scripture, where they've literally just stapled
-
the famous passages they have, like Psalm twenty three Staple
-
to Psalm ninety one, Staple to Isaiah fifty four seventeen
-
Staple to Jeremiah twenty ninety eleven Staple to John three
-
point sixteen Staple to Ephesians three twenty and then when
-
life hits them in a different way, they only got
-
those seven verses. And then you wonder why, how come
-
did they know that this whole passage was in the Bible. No,
-
they never read it. So if you would take a
-
journey through the entire Bible, it would literally bring you
-
a peace you have never understood in your life. James,
-
Chapter number three, verses thirteen through eighteen. If you are
-
wise and understand God's ways, prove it by living an
-
honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes
-
from wisdom. But if you are bitterly jealous and there
-
is selfish ambition in your heart, don't cover up the
-
truth with boasting and lying, for jealousy and selfishness are
-
not God's kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual,
-
and demonic. For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition,
-
there you find disorder and evil of every kind. But
-
the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It
-
is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing
-
to yield to others. It is full of mercy and
-
the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and
-
is always sincere. And those who are peacemakers will plant
-
seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness. Y'all.
-
The Bible's good. When I tell you that thing, it's tasty.
-
It is absolutely tasty. This is where you get into
-
the action and the lifestyle of being a gentle person.
-
I'm gentle because it's gonna help all relationships. It's gonna
-
help me with everybody. It helps me with my wife,
-
it helps me with my children. But it also helps
-
me with the public because it doesn't matter what they're
-
bringing up, and it doesn't matter what they're talking about.
-
If I'm gentle, gentleness will not interrupt your sentence. Gentleness
-
is not defensiveness. Gentleness is power wrapped in peace. Somebody
-
needs to write that down. Gentleness is power wrapped in peace.
-
Now again, I'm from the hood, so all of my
-
references are hood based. Let me tell you what gentleness
-
looks like on the street. On the street looked like this.
-
You should have died for that, but I'm gonna let
-
you live. Let me tell you how extravagant that gift is.
-
The person that didn't even know how close they were
-
to death never knows because the person never told them. Tim,
-
why would you bring that up. That's a little bit okay.
-
Let me bring you back to the Bible. Jesus did
-
the same thing on the cross. Ye, those Romans and
-
those Pharisees had no idea how close they were to death.
-
He was being gentle on that cross. Why don't you
-
call down the legion of angels to help you? If
-
he would have said, say less while he is out
-
up there bleeding out for the sins of both you
-
and I. If he would have been like, and they
-
mocking him, They've already pulled out his beard. They've already
-
ripped his back open, his whole faces this figure. They've
-
crushed thorns into his head. They have punched them, they
-
have pierced them, they have poked them. If they if
-
that person would have been like, if you really the
-
son of God, why don't you do something about it?
-
If he would have been like, okay, what, we wouldn't
-
even be here right now.
-
Jesus could have ethered Rome, we would have all went down.
-
That was Gentlemens, the same one that blue breath into
-
Adam's lungs has appointed a day for all of Adam
-
to die. And he could have just moved up the date.
-
That was gentleness. Gentleness is literal power wrapped in peace.
-
I could crush you, but I love you too much.
-
I don't have permission to cook. You don't think I can't, though,
-
And that's the thing you gotta understand. Gentleness is not weakness.
-
I gotta help somebody, because if you do this right,
-
if you've been like a brash person and you always
-
clap back, and somebody gonna get this work. If you've
-
been that type of personality, when you first allow the
-
Holy Spirit's gentleness to take control of your life, it's
-
gonna feel like you're dying. And that's because you are.
-
You better read Galations two twenty. I am crucified with Christ,
-
present tense. It wasn't past. It didn't say I was.
-
I am crucified with Christ. It's no longer I who lives,
-
but Christ that lives on the inside of me. So
-
the only thing I can give you is what He
-
put in me through the Holy Spirit. I have some
-
other stuff I would love to give you, except he
-
said I can't. You're welcome. Now. I'm about to read
-
you this and then we've done. One of the reasons
-
why I want you to take the time to read
-
the whole Bible is you do it once and you're like, wow,
-
that was a biggercomplishment. But the more you do it,
-
the more the story, the whole overarching narrative starts to
-
make sense. So I'm about to read you one Peter
-
three eight through seventeen. Before I read it to you,
-
I want to remind you who wrote it. Before I
-
even read it. What I'm about to read you was
-
written by the guy who had the hottest temper in
-
Jesus's camp. What I'm about to read you was written
-
by the guy who was ready to fight everybody on
-
Jesus' behalf. What I'm about to read you was written
-
by the guy that when Jesus himself said the son
-
of Man has to die for the sins of the world,
-
he was like, no, you not. I got you fom
-
that's not going to happen to you. Nothing that's gonna
-
happen to you, And I will never leave your side,
-
Jesus said, before the rooster crows three times, you would
-
have denied me three times? No, I won't. Yes, he did.
-
And when they came up to him to be like,
-
you look like him and you sound like him. I
-
think you've been around him, he went to cussing him
-
out to try to prove he was somebody else. After
-
they went to the garden against Simody, the soldiers came
-
to get him. Peter pulled out his sword, swung at
-
a dude, cut his ear off. Now, if bro was zorrow,
-
that would have been like a dope thing he missed.
-
That wouldn't have been in the ear, that would have
-
been a hand split blow. Wasn't trying to warran him.
-
He was trying to off him. He swung up. Dude,
-
must have he caught his ear, it fell off. Jesus
-
was like man. That's gentleness, Peter. When Jesus died, he
-
went back to his old job fishing with his underwear on.
-
Read your Bible, and then in Acts chapter number two,
-
the whole he got filled with the Holy Spirit, and
-
that angry, hot tempered, cussing, fighting, cutting man turned into this. Finally,
-
all of you should be of one. Sympathize with each other,
-
love each other as brothers and sisters, be tenderhearted, and
-
keep a humble attitude. Who is writing this? This can't
-
be the same Peter that don't repay evil for evil,
-
PD pity not you talking. You can't be don't repay
-
evil with evil? You was about that life pity you're
-
writing it. Who got you writing like this? Don't retaliate
-
with insults When people insult you, pity pay them back. Instead,
-
pay them back with a blessing. That is what God
-
has called you to do, and He will grant you
-
his blessing. For the scripture say, if you want to
-
enjoy life and see many happy days, keep your tongue
-
from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies. Turn
-
away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and
-
work to maintain it. The eyes of the Lord watch
-
over those who do right, and his ears are open
-
to their prayers. But the Lord turns his face against
-
those who do evil. Now who will want to harm
-
you if you are eager to do good? But even
-
if you suffer for doing what is right, God will
-
reward you for it. So don't worry or be afraid
-
of their threats. Peedy said this, Instead, you must worship
-
Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks
-
about your hope as a believer, always be ready to
-
explain it. But do this in a gentle and respectful way.
-
Keep your conscience clear. Then, if if people speak against you,
-
they will be a shame when they see what a
-
good life you live because you belong to Christ. Remember,
-
it is better to suffer for doing good if that
-
is what God wants, then to suffer for doing wrong. Yo,
-
the manifestation of fruit and this passage lets me know
-
that Peter got the receipt of gentleness. This is one
-
of the messages that you just have to This is
-
a message. This whole series has been a series where
-
you just have to grow up. You can't keep making
-
excuses for your attitude. Well, I was cool up until
-
they said, then they're gonna have to learn to respect me. No.
-
Peter literally says in this last verse it is better
-
to suffer for doing good if that was God once,
-
then for suffer for doing wrong. So many of us
-
have found ourselves in bad situations because we was trying
-
to keep it real. I had to let him know
-
I'm not the one, but Jesus was. He was the one,
-
and he chose to show humility and gentleness. I gotta
-
tell y'all it's not always easy. But when I tell
-
you the peace of God that rest in your heart,
-
when you don't have a lot of drama going back
-
and forth, when you don't have to lay your head
-
on the pillow, and silently regret all the things you
-
said that day, did that day, behaved that day, acted
-
that day. I'll tell you about the rest of the
-
reckless text messages. I told you about the dumb post.
-
And then last night I got to the airport at
-
five five.
-
To come to toast to preach today. First plane had
-
a mechanical issue.
-
They put me on another flight. We get on the flight,
-
that flight's missing the panel it's supposed to be coming
-
over from another place. And then everybody gets a phone
-
update that that flight has been changed to twelve pm,
-
I mean twelve am, And they said everybody has to
-
get off the flame. So everyone's loud and boisterous. I
-
can't believe you, guys, And I don't know why fly American?
-
And I'm like, cause you didn't want to drive, and
-
you're not a billionaire, you don't have your own plane.
-
Why are you so entitled? What does the stewardess have
-
to do with this? Why are you going off on her?
-
Perhaps this has nothing to do with her. It has
-
something to do with what you didn't get as a kid,
-
or who broke up with you when you were in
-
high school. The pilot is you want the pilot to
-
take off without a panel. I don't even know what
-
panel is missing, but don't you dare back this thing
-
up without whatever panel you talking about. Dog, I don't
-
even know what the panel is, but if you ain't
-
got it, let me off the plane. So on the
-
way out, I looked everybody in the eye and I said,
-
thank y'all so much, and I hope you really have
-
a good night. And they were like, we apologize, We're
-
so sorry. I'm like, you have nothing to apologize for it.
-
This is out of your control.
-
It's gentleness. Use it at work, use.
-
It at home, Use it with strangers. Just see how
-
different it is. They'll know you're different.
-
Why would you say but how.
-
You said it? Would you buy your heads and close
-
your eyes? Holy Spirit? Would you do something for us?
-
Would you do something through us? Would you take our accent?
-
Would you take our attitude? And would you take our
-
actions and make them more like you? We give you
-
the corners of our heart, the back rooms of our souls.
-
That we've tried to reserve and hold on to and excuse.
-
It as personality. Got our our friends and our family,
-
our husbands and our wives, our children. They're not trying
-
to change us. You're trying to change us, and you
-
put us in that community and in that family and
-
in that relationship to produce your fruit, not ours. So God,
-
let their receipt of gentleness.
-
Be evident and prevalent.
-
