  1. Well welcome, we are glad that you are here in the Prescott location,

  2. Prescott Valley Park Collective. We are happy to be journeying alongside you as

  3. well and so welcome to you as we walk together as a family in many places that

  4. includes Paul and Baghdad. Welcome to you guys today, Paul and I hear that you're

  5. having a Super Bowl party. We'll talk about that in a minute but welcome to you

  6. and also anyone in the online family, McGinnis family, I think I'm saying that

  7. right but welcome to you. I saw that you guys were there. Welcome to you from our

  8. Heights Fam and that you're a part of that we get to journey alongside and

  9. along with that Elizabeth she says that she is in the snowy woods of Wisconsin

  10. today. So we love that you're with us, we're glad we're not with you in person.

  11. So just saying but welcome wherever you are, however you got here, welcome, we're

  12. glad that we get to do this together. One of the things I love is that we are

  13. family. We don't choose that, God chooses that for us. He's the one that says we are

  14. in family and so as a family we just get to journey alongside all seasons of life,

  15. all moments of life. There's a big one coming today apparently. There's two

  16. teams that nobody cares about and they're gonna they're gonna meet, oh sorry

  17. Walt you know maybe you care, you care but so let's just get it out of the way

  18. chiefs fans where are you? I was alright. Eagles fans where are you? If you're in the

  19. chat just write I don't care or Eagles or Chiefs whatever it is. If you don't

  20. care about football where are you at? Okay you realize that they're gonna be the

  21. happiest people at the end of the day because what they did is they got to show

  22. up to a party, eat a whole bunch of good food and they don't care who wins or

  23. loses. It's great they go home and they're content right like so some of you

  24. may be thinking the green is a nod to the Eagles. Truth be told they changed my

  25. cast this week and it's the only one I can get over or not the only one but one

  26. of the few I can get over my cast so that's why we're in green today but

  27. here's the thing right like Kansas City cheats does that sound like right?

  28. We'll see who paid the refs we'll see we'll see we'll see fourth quarter last

  29. minute that holding call right that everybody else goes I don't know if

  30. that was or not and some refs like yes it was but whatever you whatever

  31. side you're on whether you know whether your chiefs are not whether your

  32. chiefs are not or Eagles like just just have fun just have fun I know for me the

  33. win is the party the win is the party today my grandson gets to be there

  34. there's lots of food lots of friends that we call family and that's what we're

  35. gonna do so there you go whatever you do have fun hopefully this is fun for you

  36. today hopefully that as we journey together there's a piece of this that

  37. you go okay this fits with us moving as a family right like like one of the

  38. things that's this beautiful as we get to do these collections where we anchor

  39. into a conversation if you were here last week you know that we started the

  40. critical journey what I need you to know about the critical journey it is not

  41. ours as a church it is not mine we did not create it it is a book that we're

  42. taking it from you just need to know something that while we look at this

  43. this is the book and we use other resources to help us understand what it

  44. is to be on this journey and so the critical journey is a way of doing that

  45. and so the idea behind the critical journey is that there is a way that God

  46. created you and shaped your soul that as a human you develop spiritually and so

  47. this is true of every single person on the planet and you can go into different

  48. religions different followings and what you'll find is that those that people in

  49. different spaces that we are all formed in the same stages now I don't love the

  50. word stage stage feels to me like you go from this one to that one to that one

  51. life is never that clean right there's it there's I like to refer to it more

  52. like a bird's nest is what and we'll talk about that in weeks to come where you

  53. go and you shore up another part of the nest is what you're doing but you have a

  54. home base so if you think of a stage is a home base and what you do from a home

  55. base is you launch outward and so last week if you were here I mean getting to

  56. see the Holy Spirit go to work is amazing but to get to see it in every single

  57. service across every location it's just a gift right it's something we should

  58. never get old of seeing Jesus save people never gets old agreed right like

  59. that's something we should celebrate we should be for we should we should lean

  60. into and the hope is the hope is that what happens within the spiritual journey

  61. there has to be an awakening there has to be a moment where somebody has

  62. recognition of God in our case there has to be a moment when you see Jesus as

  63. Savior of your soul there has to be a moment when you trust him and last week

  64. we talked about that that's stage one is recognition of God now something

  65. naturally happens within stage one as you recognize okay I understand who Jesus

  66. is you begin to live in that you begin to enjoy that you begin to understand

  67. wait there's way more to this than I originally thought and so it creates this

  68. need in you where you begin to go there's stuff I got to learn because when I

  69. look at you you know Jesus in a way that I don't know Jesus and so I want to I

  70. want to know what that is right like or you watch somebody worship in this

  71. place and you go they worship different I want to know what it is in them that how

  72. they stepped into that with Jesus and so the idea is that as we continue over the

  73. weeks we're building the scaffold right and the idea of a scaffold is that you've

  74. got to have your first platform in place and that platform now for some of you is

  75. the recognition of God that you have a moment where you go I know I stepped in

  76. the relationship I know I gave my life to Jesus and you have that scaffold so to

  77. speak in place now you'll spend a lot of your life going back and reassuring and

  78. rebuilding up that piece of that scaffold but what happens is you move on you

  79. move forward you begin to build the scaffold further to prepare for stage

  80. two and stage two is wrapped around this idea of life of discipleship life of

  81. discipleship right that you enter into this moment where you go okay there's

  82. more to this and I need a place to belong those are two of the driving

  83. factors around it we see this pattern lived out in the life of Jesus and

  84. specifically in Luke chapter 5 and verse 1 it says this on one day as Jesus was

    Luke 5 chapter mention

  85. standing by the lake of Genesereth the people were crowding around him and

  86. listening to the word of God he saw at the waters edge two boats left there by

  87. the fishermen who were washing their nets he got into one of the boats the

  88. one belonging to Simon and asked him to put out a little from shore then he sat

  89. down in the boat and taught the people from the boat when he had finished

  90. speaking he said to Simon put out into the deep water and let down your nets

  91. for catch Simon answered master we've worked hard all night and they haven't

  92. caught anything but because you say so I will let down the nets when they had

  93. done so they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break so

  94. they signaled to their partners in the other boats to come help them and they

  95. came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink when when Simon

  96. Peter saw this he fell at Jesus's knees and said go away from me Lord I am a

  97. sinful man and so there's this moment there's a story that we're told that

  98. that for the for the early disciples their meeting of Jesus was hey we've been

  99. out all night working we've caught no fish which was for them that's the

  100. business they're in so not catching fish is bad for their business bad for

  101. what's happening in life so they come back and you can imagine there's a

  102. there's an element of that like I'm discouraged and in their discouragement

  103. they're asked to push out by this rabbi this teacher so which they do so he

  104. didn't goes tell tells them go out and fish again which for them would have

  105. been annoying as it would be for us there would be a moment of this where

  106. you're like man we've already done this you're not a fisherman you're telling us

  107. to do this they do it and they catch so many fish that there's this moment that

  108. if we go back to last week there is a recognition of God that takes place in

  109. their life that there's this moment where where Simon says that you got to get

  110. away from me because I realized how different you are than I am Lord I'm a

  111. sinful man you you got to go and so so he uses the phrase Lord and he uses he

  112. uses a recognition of who he is and who Jesus is and so there's this

  113. recognition of God moment and then look what happens next verse 9 for he and

  114. all his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken and so

  115. were James and John the son's disability Simon's partners then Jesus said to them

  116. don't be afraid from now on you will fish for people so they pulled up their

  117. boats up on shore left everything and followed him if you turn over to mark

    Mark 1 chapter mention

  118. chapter 1 it's the same story found in verse 16 it says as Jesus walked beside

  119. the Sea of Galilee he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting and edded to the

  120. lake for they were fishermen come what's that next word follow me so so in this

  121. one we know from the other story there's recognition of God that takes place and

  122. then Jesus tells him and gives him an invitation after that in this story what

  123. we get is very clear you have this language of come which is an invitation

  124. right come follow me right and so so the idea is come to me which if we go back

  125. to last week the moment when you give your life to Jesus is you going I am

  126. coming to you to be my Savior and at some point like we were talking about last

  127. week there's a point when you step in and go hey I'm giving you my life as Lord

  128. you need control of my life and what happens in this moment is you have

  129. recognition of God but then you have an instant invitation into the life of

  130. discipleship where Jesus goes come follow me now to us there's significance

  131. around this when you put it in the context of the original story in the

  132. original culture because in that culture you would have a rabbi a teacher and

  133. that rabbi wouldn't just go up to anybody and say hey come follow me in

  134. fact you couldn't choose your rabbi the rabbi had to choose you and so in this

  135. context Jesus is coming to these fishermen that's already mind-blowing

  136. because they're not students of religion he comes to them and he says come it's

  137. an invitation follow me it's an invitation to be a disciple it's an

  138. invitation into the life of a disciple it's an invitation to apprentice under

  139. Jesus and so what you have in this moment is you have an invitation this

  140. place now if I gave you an invitation today to the Super Bowl party I'm going

  141. to right so I handed every single one of you an invitation and said you got to

  142. come to the Super Bowl party who has the power of choice you do right you have

  143. the power of choice I invited you but whether you say yes or no that's

  144. entirely up to you this is how the life of discipleship works there is a

  145. commitment that has to come from you and can only come from you only you last

  146. week can go God I give you my life or at some point in your life there's only

  147. you that can go I need you to be my savior right when it comes to the life

  148. of discipleship only you only you can be the one to accept and go I am going to

  149. commit to follow Jesus with my life I'm going to commit to be a disciple of

  150. Jesus now here here's the problem around church world with this right like we

  151. start talking about this life of discipleship depending on how long you've

  152. been around church depending on what your background is here's what it often

  153. looks like okay you want to be a disciple you got to go take this class right go

  154. take this class so 101 on religion take 202 oh one on who Jesus is 301 on

  155. creation right and all of a sudden you go and you just start learning all these

  156. classes right and at some point the thought process is you get done with

  157. all this study you get to the end and tada you're a disciple no you're just

  158. really smart you'll learn the whole bunch of stuff the idea of being a

  159. disciple of Jesus is that it was actually it's in your life it's not how much you

  160. know it's how much you live and so the idea of being a disciple is that that

  161. you in those days that if you suggest to Jesus you were gonna follow Jesus

  162. closely enough that the very dust from his feet would kick up and you would get

  163. the dust of the rabbi the dust of the person that you were following would

  164. cover you you were that closely following this person the idea is this

  165. that even in the model that Jesus gave it goes from person to person it was an

  166. invitation to personally follow another person why because the intent was it was

  167. always transferred your learning would be done from person to person and

  168. somewhere along the way we eliminated relationship and we went to just take

  169. these courses and and when you look at this notice notice what else happens

  170. because you can get stuck right I took the courses right therefore I am notice

  171. what the point of being a disciple was verse 17 come follow me Jesus said and

  172. I will send you out to fish for people so there's a come follow me and I will

  173. send so from the very get-go the life of discipleship the the intent of

  174. discipleship is this you have those who are committing to there they're saying

  175. yes I will follow you because I need to learn and I need to belong you think

  176. about it in Jesus's context he's going come follow me and I'll teach you but he

  177. also put them what in a group of people the idea of being in a group of people

  178. is so central to your learning that's why last week when we were talking about

  179. it that that is so central that life groups that if you're in a life group

  180. that you're talking about this critical journey that you're identifying your

  181. home base why because if I can identify my home base I can take ownership of my

  182. maturing you realize it's nobody else's responsibility but yours to grow to be

  183. like Jesus right too many times people like I left that church they weren't

  184. doing this this this this this I left that church they weren't giving me what

  185. I needed I left that shirt no no no hang on the way this was intended is that you

  186. would spend time in a posture of learning in a commitment to learn and how is that

  187. learning from another person but the onus is on you to go I need that right and

  188. then and then what happens you learn you go through this learning process of the

  189. life of discipleship you belong and then what happens you move outward what you

  190. have been given you give away and that's what Jesus intended from the very

  191. start what you have been given you will give away so much so that he gets to the

  192. end of it right before he's gone to the cross he's about to ascend to heaven so

  193. the resurrected Jesus talking to his disciples what does he tell them I need

  194. you to go and make what make disciples go and help people apprentice to Jesus

  195. go and help people live a life of discipleship go and help them become

  196. disciples how do you do that teach them to observe everything I commanded you

  197. to do and so here's what's fascinating right you look at the early church Acts

    Acts 2 chapter mention

  198. chapter 2 and verse 42 Acts chapter 2 the early church gets together and it says

    Acts 2 chapter mention

  199. they the early church devoted devoted themselves to the apostles teaching to

  200. the fellowship to the breaking of bread and to prayer they devoted themselves

  201. what was the commitment of the disciples to take what they've been given and give

  202. it away how do we know they did that because now there's a whole group of

  203. people and what are they doing they are devoting themselves to what the

  204. apostles teaching they're devoting themselves to following them now that

  205. that idea of devoted is that they were showing up we also know from this passage

  206. they showed up daily in homes together why because they were so committed I

  207. would say this about you that if you're not in a life group and you're not

  208. connected to another group like a Bible study or something within women's and

  209. men's ministry I would encourage you to do this get coffee with somebody this

  210. week and sit with them and talk about this it has to be transferred from person

  211. to person Paul understood this so much that when Paul's writing to the church

  212. here's what he says 1 Corinthians 11 verse 1 follow my example so Paul's

    1 Corinthians 11:1

  213. going follow my example as I follow the example of Christ follow my example Paul's

  214. going I'm giving it away there's that word follow again it's an invitation into

  215. you and so here's here's a kind of a caution in this whole stage to home base

  216. that if you're going I need to learn I need to follow somebody right can I

  217. just give you a caution make sure the person that you choose to follow looks

  218. like Jesus make sure that the person you follow is actually following Jesus we

  219. we talked about this thought about this and and what I would love to do is just

  220. give you a picture of what this looks like there's a gift to our church and

  221. his name is pastor Bob and often you hear Bob and I got a joke coming I don't

  222. have a joke coming Bob is an absolute gift to my life and to this church when

  223. you talk about this of pouring your life into somebody else of taking what you

  224. have been given by Jesus and in relationship giving it away to somebody

  225. else there is no one else that has been more influential in my life of what

  226. discipleship looks like than our very own pastor Bob and so what I would love

  227. you to do both here part collective online lose your minds for pastor Bob and

  228. Abe this morning please gentlemen good morning how are we you're so nice to me

  229. you can pay me later it's fine Abe you doing okay singing and speaking how is

  230. my little hyped up I've had a okay too much Celsius so I'm trying to bring it

  231. back down control my breath yeah so here's where I love to start Bob for you

  232. I've watched this pattern in your life of giving away but that had to start

  233. somewhere for you there had to be a moment where you were invited to come

  234. follow and so what did that look like for me I came to Christ I became a

  235. Christian on my 18th birthday so it's easy to remember but the couple that led

  236. me to Christ moved within the month after I accepted Christ so they plugged me

  237. into a church but I didn't know anybody I met like a couple people but I would

  238. sit in the back row and before the pastor would say amen I was out you know

  239. and I was living a lifestyle very contrary to what God would want I was

  240. partying on the weekends and doing all that stuff and then I'd go to church on

  241. Sunday and do all that and this was up in Cleveland and I was a mailman

  242. and there was a guy on my route that attended this church and I remember the

  243. time he's an older guy but he came out one Saturday goes if you ever needed

  244. anything here's my business card and I'm like yeah I'll get right on it you know

  245. so put it away and then continue to live a wild lifestyle while I was saying I

  246. was a Christian and so one night I was in downtown Cleveland on a Friday night

  247. and I thought you know what I know if I die right now I'd go to heaven so I'm

  248. gonna kill myself on the way home so I thought I'll get the car up to a hundred

  249. and hit a pole and I thought well the people that I was partying with would

  250. be like this is gonna happen sooner or later and my Christian the couple of

  251. people that knew me at church would be like always in a better place so I got

  252. the car up to a hundred I was on the freeway and all sudden I just started

  253. crying so I pulled the car over and I'm parked on the side of the road and I'm

  254. sitting there and all sudden the Holy Spirit just laid down my heart that

  255. business card in your pocket you got to call this guy so I didn't have cell

  256. phones back then so I went to the nearest phone booth and I called was that

  257. phone booth out of curiosity so funny so it was like two in the morning and I

  258. call this and he's an attorney for LTB steals season business like but I call

  259. him up I go hey I don't know if you remember me from church who's no I

  260. remember you I go well I am a Christian but I'm not living this out and I said

  261. I can't do this anymore live in two lives and he said well come on over which I

  262. think it's funny now that he had me drive 20 minutes drunk but I got to his

  263. house and his wife got up they made me coffee and they said so do you really

  264. want to follow Christ I said well this was gonna be my last night so he said

  265. well I will need you twice a week he said my wife will make you dinner but he

  266. said we're gonna do Bible study together we're gonna do life together we're gonna

  267. walk this out and so he took me under his wing and it was two years of intense

  268. twice a week Bible studies with him which is amazing yeah he made me

  269. memorize verses and because he's very structured if I did one word wrong he'd

  270. make me write it 50 times and he told me and I go well you got the right idea he

  271. goes well Satan tried to put scripture to and I'm okay well I'll fix it which

  272. was fun if you know Bob and know his personality that's perfect for you

  273. that's that's what you needed so from that moment what did it what did it look

  274. like and so so you spent time with him kind of what what happened after that

  275. what that looked like he would challenge me on different things which was

  276. really good and at the time I could never be in front of people at all so I'm

  277. in one time he said you're gonna meet me downtown Cleveland at this one office

  278. building and I said yeah I'll be down there so I go down and it was a crowd as

  279. big as this if not bigger and he said I want you to give your testimony to these

  280. people and I remember just freaking out but he would challenge me in different

  281. areas of my walk to make me grow and I was telling in the last service it was

  282. funny to meet John and I went to a conference in Cortal Lane a couple years

  283. ago and we're sitting there and people would ask questions to the main speaker

  284. and the one guy stood up and he introduced himself said I'm so-and-so

  285. and I'm part of the Cleveland Businessmen's Association blah blah blah and I'm

  286. like what do you think and I didn't say anything to John I go up to the guy after

  287. I go hey you're from Cleveland do you know Don Hall he goes Don Hall changed my

  288. life I'm not gonna mind too you know it was crazy yeah I love that sometimes the

  289. availability that God asks of you is 2 a.m. with a drunk guy on the phone but

  290. okay so so within that then obviously we're years and years from that how do

  291. you end up sitting with Abe today what what's that was it was funny you know

  292. when God lays someone on your heart so the worship team was back at that sound

  293. booth one day and I walked by and it's like I say something to him so talking

  294. to Caleb and the rest of my said hey I guess I gotta talk to him I said Abe I'm

  295. Bob Bobo I'm one of the pastors here and kind of what the guy threw out to me so

  296. I'm like if you ever need anything you just give me a call I said those guys

  297. have my number so Abe what in the world made you call Bob so I heard Bob was

  298. really struggling I'm kidding I'm kidding well it took three months but what

  299. really made me reach out to Bob was I was trying to try to connect with other

  300. people and the conversation we had back there in front of that sound booth some

  301. of the things that Bob was sharing with me that he was able to go through and

  302. get past sounded a little similar to some of the things that I was struggling

  303. with in that moment so I got to a point where I was just I can't do this just

  304. like you how you said like I can't keep living this double life like something's

  305. got to give and just something about those muscles and that smile really

  306. really drew me towards them and so so what's it been like so you you call him

  307. and then what what is that stepping into the life of the disciple what does that

  308. look like with Bob so you hear discipleship and you want to just

  309. immediately go to okay like we're gonna just meet up once a week and we're gonna

  310. go over some scriptures and good luck see you next week like no Bob and Sherry

  311. really opened up their home opened up their arms and made me feel like family

  312. and that's that's really what changed my mind about this whole discipleship

  313. process was it's not you're just you're not just teaching somebody how to how to

  314. live life but you're teaching them how to walk with Christ you're bringing them

  315. into your home I mean we spent Thanksgiving Christmas together so we

  316. really developed a relationship just outside of discipleship and it's it's

  317. been a blessing when you hear Paul in the Bible talk to Timothy or Titus he

  318. always says my son in the faith and so really is and we sit we talk about family

  319. here but I think when you get in that kind of relationship it's not just a

  320. Bible said we really are family so much so that do you know what he did this is

  321. really bad we don't need to go there it's when the forge came out it's a movie

  322. about discipleship I had to miss one of our meetings and I said hey here's ten

  323. dollars you need to go see the forge we're gonna talk about it next week when

  324. we get together so he comes the next week and we talked about it and I'm

  325. probably not supposed to say this but he cried at the movie and he told me you

  326. know and all this well then that's like six months ago and he tells me last

  327. month he goes by the way I got the movie for free and I just kept the ten

  328. dollars it's like one of my own biological kids right

  329. oh man I also understand that the term poppa Bob is is part of it which again

  330. speaks to this is more than just imparting knowledge right you are

  331. helping somebody navigate how to look and live and love like Jesus and it's

  332. got to come from you and so I love within your guys's journey that there there is

  333. the Christmas there is the Thanksgiving there is the the walking along the

  334. moments to make you family and so Abe on your side what what are some things

  335. you've enjoyed what maybe has surprised you in this journey yeah before I answer

  336. that question I do call him Papa Bob okay but he he's got a nickname for me

  337. you want me to tell him he calls the fear

  338. I call him baby him he calls me baby him and I blush every single time no but

  339. one of my favorite moments is really just going to his house having dinner and

  340. we we go over this book called follow and we're spending three hours at your

  341. house and maybe 30 minutes in that follow so we're having conversations just

  342. about life he's challenging me spiritually challenging me just as a man

  343. but I want to bring up one of the experiences if that's okay sure go for

  344. yeah so my favorite moment and we joke about this all the time but it was the

  345. week on forgiveness and the idea of this experience is we take a sheet of paper

  346. and we write we write down a name of somebody that we have to forgive and I'm

  347. laughing because it's just the jokes that come with this but I wrote down my

  348. dad's name and just all the things that I was forgiving him for and what we did

  349. is we went outside Bob started a fire and we threw the paper in the fire and we

  350. prayed as that paper burned away but I cannot as much as I make fun of that

  351. experience I can honestly say that that really impacted me a lot. The whole time we're doing this is the stupidest thing I've ever done. I go write down those things and he goes this is so dumb and I go just write all this down and I go and say it out loud to me so then we go outside tomorrow and he goes it couldn't get any

  352. stupider than this and then I look while he's praying and the tears are coming down his eyes I'm like got him and by the way I do I do make him study so I'm trying to throw him off

  353. because he does have to memorize stuff so I want to see because I gave you a different

  354. verse last service do first John 5 11 through 13. Can I phone a friend? No alright.

  355. That's the that's the testimony one it's this is the testimony God has given us

  356. eternal life in this life is in his son whoever has the son has life whoever does

  357. not have the son of God does not have life I write these things to you who

  358. believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know you have eternal life

  359. let's go well done I memorized it because I don't want to write it 50 times

  360. maybe maybe just kind of wrap this up with this with somebody here who goes

  361. ham I'm feeling like I haven't experienced the life of discipleship or I know there's more to this Jesus thing I know there's a step forward for me

  362. any encouragement you have for them what it to take that step and and enter in oh

  363. yeah absolutely if you are really wanting to take your walk with Jesus

  364. seriously partner with somebody the best decision that I have ever made was

  365. recognizing that I can't do this by myself I've tried but really just taking

  366. advantage of the people that are around you and the love that people want to pour

  367. into you it's truly life-changing I mean the Bible says we're not supposed to do

  368. life alone even back to Genesis God was like everything is good and then he

  369. looks at man and was like it is not good for man to be alone so if you don't have

  370. a partner find a partner not romantically like just somebody who can walk

  371. alongside you in Christ and then the romance that that'll come but

  372. anyway sometimes a bromance apparently so I would say I would say this church

  373. that when it comes to stage two as a home base in this life of discipleship

  374. one of the catalysts to move you forward is that your isolation it's when you

  375. recognize I wasn't meant to do this life alone I don't have what I need to

  376. follow Jesus and I need someone to be a guide and so isolation is actually a

  377. catalyst to get you to move from recognition of God into hey I need

  378. someone to walk with me and so I would just say for you that if that's you

  379. where you're going there's a sense of belonging and learning that I'm lacking

  380. in my life I don't feel like I've ever had a discipleship experience where

  381. someone has walked me through the foundations of the faith and so my

  382. foundation feels that scaffolding feet doesn't feel like it's in place then I

  383. would just encourage you use that isolation to be a catalyst to to say hey

  384. I'm gonna I'm gonna step out and go I need someone to to walk with me so would

  385. you do this would you say thank you to these two for me part of part of this

  386. collection is that hopefully what you discover here is my home base and here

  387. is how I take ownership of my growth that requires opportunities to step

  388. forward and step into faith so just like last week if you don't have

  389. recognition of God if you need Jesus a Savior if there's a moment where you

  390. need to go I got to give him my whole life like that was a that was a moment

  391. to respond we want to do that all the way through this collection because

  392. every single one of us if you are human you have a moment to take ownership of

  393. your maturity with God and so we want to provide those all along the way and so

  394. with that if you're in the room and you go hey I I remember you're like Bob

  395. you're like I can remember someone walking with me I can remember the

  396. foundations of the faith that scaffolding being put in place that life of

  397. discipleship the learning and the belonging I can remember what that was

  398. like then then you have something to give so just like Jesus goes hey come

  399. follow me you've had an opportunity to follow and now he's gone hey I'm sending

  400. you you need to give away to be sent is to give away what you have been given

  401. and so if you are in the room and you go or across the screen or at part

  402. collective this morning and you go hey I've had a moment with Jesus where I

  403. have received and I have lived this life of what it means to become a

  404. disciple I've been under an apprenticeship to Jesus with someone

  405. and maybe that was a group maybe that was one-on-one but you go I know I've

  406. experienced that and my scaffolding feels secure than what I'm gonna ask of you

  407. what we're gonna ask of you is would you be willing to go hey I'll give that away

  408. but there's others of you that are here and you're going and by the way one of

  409. the things with this whole collection there is no shame for the stage you're

  410. at this is not a shame thing this is just a realization of hey this is where

  411. I'm at my spiritual journey and I need help I need to grow I need to step

  412. forward and so if you're here and you go I don't think I've ever had somebody

  413. walk with me I don't think I've ever experienced this life of discipleship I

  414. don't think my foundation is where it needs to be then today your commitment

  415. is I would like somebody to walk with me and so here's how we're gonna do this

  416. if you are able and you have a phone okay so if you're in the room and you have

  417. a phone and you are able okay so say it with me if I have a phone and I am able

  418. okay online if I have a phone and I am able okay park collective if you have a

  419. phone and you are able we would like for you to do this I'm gonna go a little

  420. further than that as a church family both here Baghdad, Paldon, Park Collective,

  421. online we need you to do this okay you ready got your phone out we're gonna do

  422. it right now okay there's like four of you moving you all have phones I know it

  423. take your phone out you're gonna see a QR code come up on screen I need you to

  424. scan that QR code I'm not even gonna help you you ready hit your camera button

  425. zoom in a link pops up don't take a picture it won't work if you take a

  426. picture just saying click the link it'll take you to a survey I need you to

  427. fill out the survey right here right now this is not a later thing you know why

  428. there's a football game right and you're gonna forget you're gonna eat too much

  429. food and you'll be in a food coma I know it but you need to fill out the

  430. questionnaire right now it's that important so if you have a phone and you

  431. are able you should be filling out a questionnaire on your phone right now and

  432. the lights aren't that bright I can still see you okay if you have a phone and

  433. you're able you're doing it if you don't have a phone and or you are not able

  434. raise your hand we'll get you a paper copy keep your hand up it'll get to you

  435. if you get a paper copy please fill it out and turn it in before you leave those

  436. of you online there should be a link that you can get to from YouTube this

  437. morning the link should be posted you can get to it there because obviously your

  438. phone and your screen your phone may be your screen that's a little tricky so

  439. you can get to the link there on on YouTube this morning back that paul then

  440. you can use the QR use your phone same with Park Collective and we're just gonna

  441. give you time the way God designed this you guys is that we walk alongside each

  442. other the way that God made us to form spiritually is that we would have

  443. somebody to disciple us somebody to help us apprentice under Jesus somebody to

  444. help us become more like Jesus so I'm gonna give you another 30 seconds can

  445. you imagine a church where the people that have received the privilege of

  446. knowing how to walk with Jesus okay it's a privilege that the people who know how

  447. to walk with Jesus and have been walking with Jesus turn around and go I'll

  448. give it away and they turn around and there's a group of people that go hey I

  449. don't know what it looks like to walk with Jesus yet but I really want to walk

  450. with him can you imagine the power of a church where people everybody in the

  451. family goes I know how to walk with Jesus and then they in turn turn around

  452. start giving it away that's how you change the world that's how you change

  453. communities that's how you change and we have the privilege to do that but it

  454. begins with you making a commitment to go what I have I will give away and

  455. somebody else going what I don't have I'm asking for it's a beautiful moment

  456. okay you got it you look like you're all done everybody's looking okay we have a

  457. privilege in here if you remember this stage life of disciple life of

  458. discipleship what it means to be a disciple it's about learning and

  459. belonging you know what happens in here every week when we sing we belong

  460. because we're all singing the same thing right we're all worshiping the same

  461. God and so in the room what happens in worship is there's a sense of belonging

  462. this standing shoulder to shoulder you begin to worship God together and it

  463. creates a sense of belonging that we're created for for all of eternity and

  464. then in the midst of that in the midst of that there's some of you that have been

  465. worshiping for a long time there's some of you that are experts when it comes to

  466. worship and song and so what happens is you get to be a part of helping somebody

  467. else learn right somebody else who goes I don't know how to do this karaoke thing

  468. and they get to look at you and they get to see how you worship and they learn

  469. from you it's this beautiful moment that what we're talking about in the life of

  470. discipleship gets to happen live in the room so if you would would you stand

  471. where you are and here's what we're gonna do we're gonna help people belong

  472. because you don't know who's next to you who just needs to belong today you can

  473. stand up we're gonna we're gonna sing and then you're gonna help people learn

  474. how to worship because you have been given the gift of worshiping God I don't

  475. know about you but last week when people came down for a moment with the Holy

  476. Spirit and God is saving people I don't know if you go back to when Jesus saved

  477. you the only thing I have when I focus on the person of Jesus and what he has

  478. saved me from is a hallelujah that's all I got is just thank you all I got is a

  479. hallelujah and so if you would would you worship together this morning
