Welcome to the Life Bible Church podcast. We
-
want to thank you for joining us today, and we
-
hope you find today's sermon impacting as you
-
listen to it wherever you are in your daily walk.
-
To find service times and watch messages online,
-
see our website at lifebiblechurch .org. Now,
-
enjoy this week's message. Father, we ask you
-
now that you would help me begin to release the
-
word that you have. For your church today. Lord
-
you love your people. You love this house. And
-
Lord I'm asking now. By the spirit of the Lord.
-
That you would breathe. Lord as we dealt. Lord
-
even at your altar. Where you're breaking things
-
that hinder. You're breaking off the mind. Of
-
the prodigal. That constantly reverts back. To
-
what I did. And the shame. Lord that's done today.
-
Lord, let a new understanding come. Lord, even
-
what happened this past weekend for this church.
-
Lord, help us, guide us, walk us through. Lord,
-
we would have an understanding of the seasons
-
and the timing that we're now walking with as
-
you're leading this church to fulfill your promises
-
you've made to us. Help us grab them, believe
-
them, and walk in them. In Jesus Christ's holy
-
name. Amen. Amen. Would you tell the band they
-
did a great job this morning? All right. Praise
-
God. Well, so much to share, and I've got about
-
half hour to do it here. So I probably won't
-
get to many of my notes today because I feel
-
like I need to kind of prophetically, if I can,
-
begin to move us in. In fact, this call, and
-
if you would come and just move this. table just
-
right down here. I'm going to come down and pray.
-
I mean, and preach just down a little bit to
-
you. Sometimes when you guys are all scattered
-
out and it's not very, we got half a service
-
here as far as least attendance. I want to come
-
down and get a little closer because I feel like
-
I'm far away. So we're in our same series called
-
the Something More Church. And I think it's important
-
for us to understand that when When we as Life
-
Bible Church, and I'm just speaking now as family
-
and as your senior pastor, when... These times
-
in God come. And especially as we've prepared
-
our heart to fast and to pray three weeks saying,
-
God, we want more of you. We want more of your
-
presence. We want more of your word. We're hungry
-
and thirsty for you. God doesn't just shine on
-
those prayers. He doesn't just go, oh, no, you
-
don't. No, you don't. You say you do, but you
-
don't. And I'm going to wait until you actually
-
really do. No, he hears the prayers of his people.
-
He responds to the faith. And then he brings.
-
if you will, a grace or a fresh level of bread
-
to the house. That's the nature of the house
-
of God is to have fresh bread, bread of his presence,
-
bread of revelation, bread of insight and understanding.
-
That's what he brings. And so not just during
-
the conference, but during the season of the
-
first year as we set our hearts to... press into
-
the things of God, God is doing some miraculous
-
things. Wednesday night, I took about 15, 20
-
minutes and I kind of just recapped the conference
-
with the congregation that was here and just
-
kind of dove into some of the things that took
-
place and kind of maybe brought some understanding
-
to a few things. I don't have time to do that
-
this morning, but what I do want to do is I want
-
you to understand the importance of what God
-
is trying to work into this congregation. When
-
I asked the Lord, this week, Lord, what do you
-
want to do? What do you want to say? As I was
-
just wrestling with the Lord of, okay, God, where
-
do I go from what happened Thursday, Friday,
-
Saturday, Sunday? What do you want to say? And
-
I immediately felt like the Lord, I'm getting
-
a little bit of an echo, David, maybe turn me
-
down on the monitors back there, brought me to
-
Exodus chapter 17. Exodus 17. Now, why that's
Exodus 17 chapter mention
-
important. I touched a little bit on this and
-
I went deeper in understanding a certain way
-
of dealing with the Amalekites. I'm not gonna
-
deal with that much today on the Amalekites or
-
who Amalek was or the root of Esau, but I am
-
gonna deal with... Exodus 17, in the journey
-
for the something more church. Because I think
-
you need to understand that when God brings you
-
from a place through significant breakthroughs
-
in your journey in Christianity, every time you
-
get from a place of a high place in God, you
-
come to another place where you have to allow
-
the Spirit of God to test you. If you don't allow
-
that truth of what took place on the mountaintop,
-
let's say in a high place in God, it isn't in
-
you if it doesn't stay in the regular journey.
-
He doesn't just want you to touch it as though
-
it belongs to somewhere else. He actually expects
-
you to carry it. He expects you to carry the
-
high place moments in your life where God reveals
-
himself to you, where he all of a sudden shows
-
you that this is capable in my presence. He doesn't
-
want you to say, well, that was for then and
-
somebody else. No, he expects that to get in
-
your heart. That's what he did in John chapter
-
six. And he did with Philip at the breaking of
-
the bread. Remember, Jesus knew what he was gonna
-
do, but he turned to Philip and he said, Philip,
-
John six, he said, What are we going to do with
-
all these people? And Philip looked at the crowds
-
and he looked at the time of day and he said,
-
Lord, it's going to take more than 200 denarii.
-
I mean, two thirds of a year's worth of wages
-
to feed even this people just a little bit. But
-
Jesus, and it says in the text, John 6, and Jesus
-
said this to prove what was in Philip's heart.
-
And that word means when you walk with the Lord
-
and you begin to see, Great things of God begin
-
to break place. There comes other times where
-
you run into circumstances and you run into places
-
in your life after a high place moment that you
-
come to a place that you're either going to trust
-
God at a new level and be in rest and peace because
-
you've just now learned from what you walked
-
in or you're going to just kind of get into a
-
place and the rut that you've always been, and
-
I'm going to call it this way, you kind of just
-
undo your belt and just kind of bleh, and you
-
just kind of just puke out all the negative emotions
-
and puke out your frustrations, and you get into
-
a place where you just kind of let down and get
-
frustrated with life. Has anybody ever done the
-
latter? Okay, you don't have to raise your hand.
-
You don't want to be known for that. Okay, I
-
get it. I've done that a lot. Meaning, I didn't
-
recognize the place I was stepping into. Now,
-
let me just bring you a little history with the
-
children of Israel. Because the Bible says in
-
1 Corinthians chapter 10, and you should go back
1 Corinthians 10 chapter mention
-
and you should read this because it's very, very
-
important. 1 Corinthians chapter 10, verses 1
-
through 15. it begins to list what God did with
-
the children of Israel. It says, our forefathers
-
all ate the same spiritual food. They all drank
-
the same spiritual drink. They came out of Egypt.
-
They went through the waters of the Red Sea,
-
which is a type of water baptism. They came out
-
of that to the mountain of the Lord, which is
-
a type of Holy Spirit encounter. And they all
-
went to the place where the bitter waters were
-
and the tree fell in and God revealed himself
-
as. Jehovah Rapha. And then they came to this
-
place. And now we're catching you up to Exodus
-
17. They came to a place called Rephidim. And
-
Rephidim is important that you understand this.
-
I'm just going to kind of just preach from what
-
my notes are in my heart because I got it in
-
my spirit. And so I'm just going to kind of talk
-
to you. Rephidim means a place where you are
-
to spread out. A place where you now recognize
-
either two things. It was meant to actually bring
-
you rest and peace and confidence in who was
-
leading you or Rephidim became what it was to
-
the children of Israel, renamed place that Moses
-
named, you came to Massah and Meribah. No, no,
-
no, Moses, they came to Rephidim. No, they didn't.
-
They didn't do Rephidim. They did Massah and
-
Meribah. They were supposed to spread out. They
-
were supposed to relax. They were supposed to
-
actually have such confidence in God that coming
-
to a place that did not have any water did not
-
affect them at all because they understood who
-
had been leading them, who had been guiding them,
-
and they moved now from their own works and fear
-
and anxiety to a place of trust. It was what
-
Hebrews says in Hebrews chapter four, it was
-
supposed to be a place of rest, not rest as in,
-
oh man, I need to catch up on some sleep, but
-
rest as in, I don't have to strive. I don't have
-
to worry. I don't have to make something happen
-
myself. The God in who's covenanted with me actually
-
will take care of me. It won't be like what I
-
thought before. Something has changed. God has
-
covenanted with me personally. I now have been
-
brought into his family. You see now, why is
-
this important for the church today? Here we
-
are in the New Testament to get this understanding
-
because if we don't understand what the children
-
of Israel came out of and what they fought through,
-
Like the scripture says, and I'm just going to
-
quote it right from first Corinthians 10. I think
-
it's right in 15 or 17. It says, and these examples
-
were written down for those on whom the end of
-
the ages falls. Meaning God made sure. That we
-
would understand the story, not just the story,
-
the historical account, the spiritual truths
-
that came from getting the mindset of slavery,
-
the mindset of being bound out of the children
-
of Israel and how God revealed himself. And he
-
always brings you to a place where there is a
-
carryover, where you will now leave your old
-
behind and you'll begin to walk in the power
-
of new that he guides you in. He said, those
-
are written down for us. So that's why he says
-
they ate the same spiritual food. They drank
-
the same spiritual drink. And he said, but with
-
many of them, God was not well pleased. And then
-
he lists the things that they rose up to play,
-
which is a play on words of they became immoral,
-
sexually immoral. They grumbled and complained.
-
And it literally says, and the destroyer. destroyed
-
them. Read it in the New Testament, ESV. And
-
the destroyer destroyed them. That word destroyer
-
is the word Apollyon. It's used in Revelation
-
and it says, and the king of the bottomless pit,
-
name in Greek is Apollyon. In Hebrew, his name
-
is Abaddon. It means that they grumbled and complained
-
and opened a spiritual link up over their lives
-
that the destroyer had legal right, even though
-
they were the children of the living God. Now
-
that was later on in their journey. The first
-
thing they came into after the plagues, after
-
the Red Sea, and then after Jesus healed the
-
waters is this place called Rephidim. Now this
-
is important because, let me just take you on
-
a journey. Are you okay with that? Just kind
-
of just, you and I are gonna move along together
-
here. What we don't understand about the plagues
-
is this. is that many people read the story of
-
the plagues, but they don't know the nation of
-
Egypt, nor how the culture of the occult was
-
tied into the world system that was Egypt. Meaning,
-
how many... have known this fact that there is
-
a pantheon of gods in Egypt and that each plague
-
that God decided to show was a direct shot at
-
one of the Egyptian deities. How many knew that?
-
Okay, about a third of us. Meaning that every
-
plague that was done, the water turning to blood,
-
the gnats, the flies. the boils, the darkness.
-
The darkness plague was a direct shot at Ra,
-
the sun god. The killing of the firstborn was
-
a direct shot at Pharaoh being the God over all
-
gods of the country and that he alone had life
-
and power and that God revealed at every level.
-
There was Newt, there was Hecate. I mean, I could
-
go down through the 10 deities of the Egyptian
-
culture of what they worshiped and the Lord as
-
sovereign God destroyed at every level, Egypt's
-
trust in their God. That's why Pharaoh, if you'll
-
get behind it, that's why Pharaoh called the
-
magicians and the occultists at every confrontation
-
with Moses and Aaron is that the occultists were
-
behind the gods that Egypt worshiped. So you
-
need to understand something right from the very
-
beginning. When you understand a world system,
-
you have to understand that the powers of darkness,
-
The Bible talks about this. The powers of darkness
-
and occult power operates in a world system.
-
That's why the Bible says in Ephesians chapter
-
two, let me quote it. And the gods of this world
-
rule over the sons and daughters of disobedience.
-
That's what it says. I'm just quoting it verbatim.
-
Meaning what? That a world system that elevates
-
the flesh, that elevates self -will, always has
-
a cult power to it because that's how the world
-
stays in power, manipulates through. through
-
deception and through power. And if you remember
-
the children of Israel, they were bound in those
-
first plagues, the magicians of Egypt or the
-
occult artists, or it's better if you understand
-
it, those that operated in dark cradle primitive
-
power could do the first three signs just like
-
Jehovah did. They modeled leprosy. When Moses
-
put his hand in his garment, it became leprous.
-
When he put it back, they could do that. Moses
-
threw a staff down and it became a serpent. Guess
-
what? In the presence and the power of their
-
gods, they threw their staffs down and theirs
-
became serpents. The only problem was Moses'
-
staff, that serpent ate their other staffs. So
-
he gathered his staff. and all of their other
-
staffs were swallowed up in it. That's a problem.
-
If you're an occult artist and a sorcerer, to
-
have your staff swallowed up by someone else's
-
ought to bring you a big clue. Uh -oh. Then they
-
went to the Nile, and he turned the water into
-
blood, and Pharaoh's occult artists Turned the
-
water into blood. But the fourth plague, when
-
the dust turned into gnats, they realized and
-
they said to Pharaoh, they couldn't do through
-
their magical arts and their chants and their
-
sorcery. They actually said, this is not capable.
-
This can only be done by the finger of God. And
-
God began to break the power. of occult powers
-
that were hiding under the world system, one
-
after another after another, finally to bring
-
Pharaoh to his knees to realize that he didn't
-
have the power of life at all. It was the Lord
-
who had the power to preserve, and it was only
-
by the blood of the slain lamb that would come
-
over the doorpost that would bring liberty from
-
death, and he alone had the power of life. And
-
so you got to get that in your heart when you're
-
traveling through this to understand. Then the
-
next thing they do, God knew what was in his
-
own people because they had been in slavery 400
-
years. Remember what God said to Abraham. Remember
-
after the smoking oven and the burning torch
-
at that darkness fell and Moses went into a deep
-
sleep and God said, Moses. I'm going to fulfill
-
my promises, but your people will go down into
-
Egypt 400 years, and then I will bring them out
-
with a mighty outstretched arm. God was fulfilling
-
the promise he made to Abraham, and as they went
-
down, and you know the story, Joseph sold into
-
slavery, came to rise to second command, brought
-
down Jacob. Jacob had a revelation. Here, Jacob
-
sees the faithfulness of his father Abraham.
-
He believed it. And as he's prophesying over
-
all of his children before he dies, the Bible
-
says that he picked up his feet and he drew up
-
his legs and he gave up his breath. He gave a
-
prophecy to each of his kids right before he
-
died about their destiny. And then he looked
-
at Joseph. He looked at the leader and he says,
-
grabs him by the hand or grabbed him somewhere
-
and says, do not leave my bones in this place,
-
but take every part of me to the place that's
-
been promised. Now I'm gonna say that's a very
-
prophetic statement. Because even though Jacob
-
saw his son again almost returned like a type
-
and shadow from death, even though he saw now
-
Manasseh and Ephraim that represents fruitfulness,
-
and he saw the bounty of what God was going to
-
do and prophesied over them, he refused to allow
-
his body to stay in Egypt. Why? He didn't want
-
to be anywhere in what was called the world.
-
He wanted everything. Everything of him. Even
-
when he died. To be put in the promises of God.
-
Something was inside of him that said. Move me.
-
Even when I'm gone to be in the place. Of the
-
Lord or Abraham's bosom. You move my bones. And
-
you bury me. Of where we have an inheritance.
-
Now that ought to get down inside of you. That
-
ought to just preach to your own spirit. Saying
-
I don't want any. part of my life connected to
-
the world, the systems of this world, or the
-
gods of this world. Every part of me in my fight
-
of faith and even in my dying moments, I want
-
connected to who God is, his promises, and the
-
promises to my lineage. Right? Okay. Now you're
-
tracking with me? We're still on the same page?
-
Okay. Now they move out of Egypt by the outstretched
-
hand of God. God moves them. He said, I can take
-
you a shorter way, but if the people see war
-
right away, they're going to go back into what
-
they've already known. Now listen, 400 years.
-
We're going to celebrate 250 years as a nation
-
on July 4th, representing the 1776 Declaration
-
of Independence. We are just 250 years as a nation
-
this year. They were in slavery 400. Now, okay,
-
I could concede maybe 80 or 100 years of that
-
because when Jacob passed and then Joseph passed,
-
it says in the scriptures in Genesis, and then
-
a Pharaoh arose in Egypt that did not know Jacob
-
and did not know Joseph. And he said to the people,
-
these people have, because they went down 70
-
and they blossomed. I mean, it was like the spirit
-
of rabbits came on them and they filled the land
-
of Goshen, right? And it says, they're gonna
-
overtake us. And so what did Pharaoh do? From
-
that point on, once Joseph died, they became
-
slavery. So there was 300, if you will, out of
-
the 400 years they were there in the land of
-
Goshen and where they lived, there was over 300
-
years of bondage. That culture. of their gods,
-
that culture of slavery, that loss of freedom,
-
the demands that they would serve Egypt and live
-
in Egypt was bred into them and there were generations
-
that were born that had no idea what freedom
-
and promised land was. So God had to work it
-
out of them. He does the 10 plagues, destroying
-
the deities of the nations. He then brings them
-
a different way. Pharaoh thought they were, he
-
kind of came to himself for a moment, thought
-
that they were lost because they'd not been out
-
of the land of Egypt for 300 plus years. They
-
could never venture out. Pharaoh wouldn't even
-
let them go three days journey to go worship.
-
That was the big fight. They had never been outside
-
the borders. I mean, just imagine being bound
-
in Harrisburg for 300 years. It's a scary thing,
-
right? Never ventured to Corvallis, never ventured
-
to Eugene, just stayed within the boundary of
-
one stoplight. Somebody say, that is slavery,
-
hallelujah. Okay, so God had to what? He had
-
to bring them back to a place and he brought
-
them to the Red Sea. He did it to show his power.
-
They got fearful. Pharaoh went to kill them.
-
What happened? God. Commanded Moses to stretch
-
his staff over the Red Sea. Red Sea parted. They
-
went over on dry land. And then God caused the
-
armies, the military power, to come back and
-
flood. And so Exodus 15 is what? Exodus 15 now,
-
12 is Passover. 13 and 14 is the journey of the
-
Red Sea. 15 is Miriam kind of getting her praise
-
on to Jesus, right? They're dancing with tambourines
-
and 15 is singing the song of Moses and how the
-
chariots of Israel and God is a mighty man of
-
war and he kicked your butt in the Red Sea and
-
kind of just that kind of the hip hop version
-
of that song was taking place. Then they start
-
the journey. And they start the journey out of
-
the Red Sea and they go to a place called Marah.
-
Marah means bitter, sour. The waters were bitter.
-
They couldn't drink it. And so revelation comes.
-
Well, God had been using Moses' staff all along.
-
This time he doesn't use Moses' staff. He says,
-
you put that big dead tree in the water. It was
-
a symbol of Christ. Soon as the cross hit the
-
water, what does he say? He revealed himself
-
as Jehovah. First time he brought another name
-
other than I am to the children of Israel. I
-
am now, who was? Jehovah Rapha. I am manifesting.
-
Who I am, I am healing. And there God said through
-
his prophets, I will put no longer the diseases
-
of the people of Israel on you. I am Jehovah
-
Rapha. I am the God, and that literally says,
-
I am the God who heals you. That was his next
-
revelation after water baptism. And as they're
-
on their way to the mountain, they're on their
-
way to Exodus 19, to where God would come down.
-
in fire and in shaking, where God would come
-
down and want to move them from just having a
-
representation to now including everyone to come
-
to the mountain and hear God for themselves.
-
between 19, which God would reveal himself in
-
that, they're now at 17. And Exodus 17, one through
-
seven says this, and they came to a place called
-
Rephidim. And we say, we look at the meaning
-
of Rephidim. It means to spread out. It means
-
to encamp and to allow yourself to be, if you
-
will, to rest and to receive. But it didn't become
-
Rephidim to the children of Israel. Why? Because
-
they weren't aware, now please hear me on this,
-
they weren't aware of the ground that they were
-
stepping on was somebody else's that needed to
-
be redeemed. The ground that they had now come
-
into was a place that was, quote, owned by the
-
Amalekites. who are the Amalekites. You're gonna
-
see this picked up in scripture over and over
-
and over. And probably this in Exodus is one
-
of the most key passages to understanding spiritual
-
warfare, even in the New Testament, even today.
-
At the end of, I think it's Exodus 17, verse
-
15, it says, and Israel will have war with Amalek.
-
generation after generation. What happened between
-
verse one and verse 17 reveals the story. Israel
-
came into a place that was meant for them as
-
their walk with God, the healing with God, the
-
victory of God, the high place with God, walking
-
in new ground and new authority. They came into
-
a place that God wanted to call Rephidim. Moses
-
had to rename it based on their actions. And
-
you know what he named the place? He named it
-
Masa and Meribah. And if you look it up, Meribah
-
is mentioned twice in the Old Testament. Why?
-
Now, I'm going to use both of you here. Meribah
-
represents the first generation that comes out.
-
This is where, sorry, this is where they grumbled.
-
Meribah means Place of contending. Place of strife.
-
Place of wrangling. The root Meribah, Mary, means,
-
I mean, you think of it, there was Mary Bale
-
that was a place. Mary means a place of wrangling,
-
contending, and striving. Masa means what? The
-
place of testing and proving. What was supposed
-
to be a place of rest and putting their faith
-
and trust and spreading out and allowing themselves
-
to grow in God for what God had just revealed
-
to them through the journeys they'd been in became
-
now a place of proving, but unfortunately it
-
became a place of contention, strife, wrangling.
-
chiding. And it didn't just happen in the first
-
generation. When you read your Bible and you
-
come all the way back around to Numbers, as they
-
get ready, as most of this generation has passed,
-
and now we're at the second generation, what
-
happens in Numbers 14? They come back to the
-
same place called Meribah and the same atmosphere,
-
same spirit of the land gets on Moses and he's
-
disqualified from going into the promised land.
-
You see, the children of Israel were not understanding
-
what they were walking into. I want to say this
-
to us. This is maybe my whole message for the
-
church this morning. Because it's maybe more
-
for a life Bible understanding here. When we
-
go through high moments in God, When the prophetic
-
is activated, God begins to speak and give assignments
-
to the church. And if you didn't hear the word
-
of the Lord, basically one of the main theme
-
of the word of the Lord over this last weekend
-
was this is a governmental house. Meaning what?
-
It's a regional apostolic house that has a mandate
-
to take kingdom authority and extend it in the
-
territory. Now we've known that. That's been
-
prophesied over here before, but for the Lord
-
to keep saying it over and over means one of
-
two things. One, we're not getting it. Kind of
-
like the McFly moment. McFly, are you getting
-
this? This is to be a governmental house. This
-
is to be a house of authority. This is to be
-
where people actually operate in kingdom power,
-
in love, in grace, but understand they have authority
-
to push territory and to take territory for the
-
king. Either we didn't understand it or what?
-
Or that there's been great pushback. and we only
-
allow it to settle on us for a little while,
-
we didn't actually tie it down into our heart
-
and say, this is who I am. And this is who God
-
called me to be. There's something that happens.
-
You can, like this, I can put on my blazer here.
-
And I've seen Jenny do this time after time,
-
where she'll say, give me your coat, and she'll
-
just wear it like this. I'm cold. And she'll
-
just, well, most of the time now she's hot. But
-
back just a few years ago, she was cold. Okay?
-
And she would wear the coat like this. Now, if
-
we needed to go anywhere fast, right, and we
-
would just run, what would happen? The coat would
-
fall off. There's a difference between putting
-
something over your shoulders and putting something
-
on. And the minute I put something on, now I
-
can run and it's gonna move with me. It ain't
-
going anywhere. Okay? Why is that important?
-
That's what a prophetic word's supposed to do.
-
It moves to just, it's not just meant to be something
-
that just comes on you. It's meant to be something
-
that you actually put on. Now you would say,
-
well, show me that in scripture. I'm glad you
-
asked. When Elijah came down from hearing God
-
again and being recommissioned, the Bible says
-
that he went down to anoint Elisha. And Elisha
-
was plowing in the back with 12 oxen. teams of
-
two. And he was in the back of the line as a
-
son, as the 12th pair, sucking up, well, listen,
-
I'm a farmer's kid. If you're plowing with the
-
12th set of oxen, you have got a bird's eye view
-
of 11 other back end of two horses. And that
-
is not a, it's like, and you are all day, there
-
is, Pooping and belching out the other end. All
-
day long. You're eating dirt and you're in horse
-
dung. And the prophet comes to the son who's
-
in the last of the 12 and just walks by Elisha
-
and throws his mantle on him. And then says,
-
sorry, at least you got hair. Let me help you
-
there. Man, that feels good. Let me try that
-
again. Yeah, there you go, there you go. And
-
Elijah says, wait a minute, wait a minute. And
-
Elijah turned around. This is a whole nother
-
message. I don't have time to preach this. What
-
have I done to you? Well, let me first say goodbye.
-
Elijah just kept walking. Elisha had to do something
-
at that moment. Either it would have just been
-
a moment of, okay, that's my future. No, he stood
-
up. He killed the oxen. cut up the yoke that
-
he was on, used it for burnt offering and wood,
-
burnt those cattle, and then put on the mantle
-
of Elijah so that he could begin to operate in
-
the things of the Spirit. And he began to be
-
trained by the new destiny rather than just have
-
something touch him and go back to what he was
-
doing. That was the problem with King Saul. When
-
the prophet Samuel, I'm giving you another scripture
-
you asked. When the prophet Samuel anointed Saul,
-
what did they do when all of a sudden it came
-
time, the enemies came to fighting? Where did
-
they find Saul? Back at his dad's house farming.
-
plowing, and they had to get the one who was
-
anointed king over that high place where everything
-
was supposed to change, and Saul reverted back
-
to something that was familiar, something of
-
his soul. Now, I know I'm about out of time,
-
so I need my beautiful 50th year bride. Love
-
you. Okay. All right, now. So in that reality,
-
what are we talking about? We're talking about
-
when God comes and brings you to a high place,
-
you have a choice. Are you just gonna allow the
-
word to touch you in that atmosphere? Or are
-
you gonna allow that word that you're gonna fit
-
it on over your life and you're gonna put it
-
on and say, that's who I am. That's the tribe
-
I've been born into. That's the house I've been
-
planted. And those are the prophetic words that
-
need to come and be fulfilled over my life. That
-
I am going to extend territory. That I am going
-
to be one who is a kingdom ambassador and I'm
-
gonna live in the presence and I'm gonna get
-
rid of things that hinder me from actually communicating
-
with the Lord and being obedient to how he wants
-
to use my life every day because that's what
-
he's asked of me. I'll put it this way and you
-
can relate. How many have traveled Highway 58
-
and tried to pass somebody that did not have
-
a revelation of the speed limit? You can be behind
-
that person for 12 miles. Why? There's a section
-
in the brilliance of the Oregon Department of
-
Transportation. Having no turnout spots. And
-
then when they do, it's as short as three Yugos.
-
I mean, literally, you have to be on the person
-
and ready to jam lanes. And then they invariably
-
speed up 15 miles an hour right before they get
-
there. You know, and when Jenny's driving with
-
me, she's like, she's learned. I talk to them.
-
What are you doing? Get out of the way. Get over.
-
Get over. Now listen, the reason I'm telling
-
this story is because you only have a moment
-
when you see that passing lane one mile ahead.
-
You have to position yourself because of the
-
shortness of that little time frame. You have
-
to be willing to leave the lane you were in,
-
pick up the speed that you were traveling in,
-
and move at all costs to... pass and to forward
-
yourself in and to leapfrog in front where you're
-
going to be. You miss that window, guess what?
-
You're stuck behind the person that doesn't have
-
the revelation for another journey of who knows
-
how long. I'm using that example of in the spirit.
-
We've come to a place. where God's trying to
-
move you out of your lane and move you into something
-
that's greater and further to get actually past
-
where you've been stuck. You have to be willing.
-
You have to be willing to say, I'm not going
-
to yield to the old opinions, the old wrangling
-
of words, the things of how, how just nitpicky
-
things, striving, contending. And turn your place
-
of actually what was supposed to be a spreading
-
out and a growing and a trust in God only to
-
come back and to have you just let your soul
-
out and you partnered with the spirit and the
-
atmosphere. And instead of having a Rephidim
-
moment where you'd gather yourself and grow in
-
God, you end up having a Masa and a Meribah moment
-
where you now had to circle back to the rock
-
and it took 30 some odd years to get you back
-
to the same place. Let me tell you something.
-
I've watched Christians. I've been saved almost
-
50 years. And in Christian ministry now, full
-
time, 32 and a half years. I've watched people
-
that I've seen stuck for 30 years. God has to
-
bring them back to the place because they have
-
to be willing to change lanes and to partner
-
with the now moment of what he's doing to break
-
them ahead. That's where we're at as a church.
-
There is a passing lane that's right now. And
-
it means what? It's a fresh revelation. It doesn't
-
mean we, we're not leaving the Bible and we're
-
not contending for anything that isn't in there.
-
This is about leaving the stubbornness of our
-
will and our heart and ticky -tack issues on
-
how things were done yesterday and other denominations
-
and other upbringings. And I'm getting that out
-
of me to say, here I am, move me forward. I want
-
to go in the things of God and I don't want to
-
be hindered. How many would say, I could receive
-
that and that was for me this morning? Can I
-
pray for you? Just keep your hands lifted as
-
Tiff comes. Come on, maybe just stand and lift
-
your hands before the Lord. We're in a great
-
moment right now. Holy Spirit, we thank you.
-
We thank you. Lord, we feel and see and have
-
heard the passing lane is coming now. And Lord,
-
we don't hang back. We're not gonna be timid.
-
And Lord, we're not going to stay stuck. We are
-
going to take our moment. That means we're going
-
to be led by the Spirit. That means our wineskin
-
of understanding is not calcified. We choose
-
the life of the Holy Spirit and we choose to
-
be redirected and catapulted into the timing
-
that you have for this place. Let the Spirit
-
of God move us forward. Let my life bring fruit
-
to you for glory. that which was prophesied this
-
morning, alignment, obedience, and maturity.
-
Let it come, the fruit for your glory and for
-
your kingdom in Jesus' holy name. And everybody
-
said, amen. Come on, hallelujah. Amen, amen.
