  1. Okay, now we can move to a collection of do something

  2. different that is wrapped around the idea of

  3. prayer. And if you were here kind of week one,

  4. the idea was God had just kind of challenged

  5. me with my own prayer life that I wasn't satisfied

  6. with where it was at. And God's like, you don't

  7. need more information. You need to do something

  8. different. You need to just do it. With around

  9. that, I realized I've got to change the way I

  10. view prayer, that if I'm going to do something

  11. different, I have to see it through a different

  12. lens. And so if you were here the first week,

  13. we talked about this idea that prayer is a gift

  14. that waters. And there was a planner box up here.

  15. If you still haven't seen that, you need to go

  16. back and watch it. But there's a planner box

  17. that is bringing to life everything that God

  18. put inside of you that he always intended for

  19. to grow in your life. And so prayer is this gift

  20. that allows me to water those things into being.

  21. We talked last week about the winter seasons

  22. of life, right? Like the difficult things that

  23. when we go through things we don't like, things

  24. that we would prefer to run away from, that it's

  25. actually in those moments when we lean into prayer

  26. that what prayer is, is it's a gift that waters

  27. into life. But it's also because we're watering,

  28. we're trusting in a relationship that is inside

  29. of the mess. And what we find is the person of

  30. the relationship, which is God, and we had a

  31. table set up here, that we get to sit down at

  32. the table with God Almighty, with the one that

  33. one word changes everything. We sit with him

  34. and what he's longing from us is honest conversation.

  35. That we would just be honest with God about where

  36. we're at. That we would hand over to him the

  37. things that we're holding that are so deeply

  38. ingrained in us that are holding us back from

  39. growing into all the things that he wants us

  40. to be. And so this gift of prayer at the table,

  41. which brings us to today. That prayer is a gift

  42. because it releases the power of heaven. Prayer

  43. is a gift because it releases the power of heaven.

  44. For me, there was a moment on my sabbatical where

  45. I got to go to Montana, and I happened to be

  46. there in between skiing season and boating season.

  47. So there was a mountain for skiing, and there

  48. was a lake for boating, and I was there in a

  49. season when they were doing neither. The lake

  50. was too cold, so nobody was in the lake, and

  51. the mountain had just lost its snow. Right? So

  52. it was a rainy day, and I went, you know what?

  53. On a rainy day, it feels right to just have a

  54. fireplace. I'm sure whatever the ski lodge is,

  55. they got a fireplace. They got a coffee shop.

  56. I'll go get a cup of coffee, sit by the fire,

  57. read a book. I'm like, that sounds so good. So

  58. I drive up the mountain, get to the ski lodge,

  59. and wouldn't you know it, they closed the week

  60. before. So I'm like, okay, God, I don't know

  61. where I'm going to go now. And so I begin to

  62. drive down the mountain. There was these signs

  63. for hiking trails. Now, those of you that know

  64. me, I do not hike. So my version was, I wonder

  65. if there's a parking lot with a view and I'll

  66. just sit in my car and read a book, right? And

  67. so I pull up in the parking lot and I realized

  68. they'd made a little outlook. I'm like, okay.

  69. So I get out and I kind of walk the outlook and

  70. the view is amazing. But what I noticed is there

  71. was a bench and it's right on the edge and there's

  72. nothing in front of it other than the view. I

  73. don't know how you feel about the bench. I feel

  74. like the bench was put there for me by God. OK,

  75. so I sit on the bench and I'm looking and the

  76. view is the top of the pine trees and then down

  77. a mountain. And then there's the lake that nobody's

  78. on because it's not boating season. And then

  79. there's another mountain going up. And as I'm

  80. reading this book on prayer, I'm sitting on this

  81. bench and I watch a storm come in. And the storm

  82. drops down one mountain across the lake and up

  83. the other mountain and out. And in that moment,

  84. I'm reminded of the power of God. I'm reminded

  85. of how powerful he is. I'm reminded that I have

  86. no control over this moment and where this storm

  87. goes and what it does. I'm reminded that me sitting

  88. there going is not going to do anything to that

  89. storm. And I'm in awe of the power of God. And

  90. then this question is in this book. If you were

  91. to take every single prayer that you have prayed

  92. this weekend, recall them and recount them, and

  93. you were to write them down, and then God answered

  94. every single one of them that week. So as you

  95. look back on your week and you go, God answered

  96. every single one, this was the question. What

  97. would have happened? So let me ask you, if you

  98. wrote down, if you recalled every prayer that

  99. you have prayed this week and God answered every

  100. single prayer today, what would happen? What

  101. would change? Because you see what I realized?

  102. My prayers don't match the God I'm praying to.

  103. I pray about the dumbest stuff. That whether

  104. it's answered or not, it doesn't matter. Whether

  105. the Steelers win or not, next season's coming.

  106. Right? Like we just pray about the dumbest things.

  107. And don't get me wrong. I'll pray with you about

  108. anything. But what I realized is that if I really

  109. believe in the power of prayer and the person

  110. that I'm praying to, then I got some bigger prayers

  111. to pray. That what I prayed didn't move the needle

  112. at all in the kingdom of heaven. And I realized,

  113. I realized that what Jesus was talking about

  114. in Matthew chapter six, this idea of the prayer

  115. of heaven being released, I realized that my

  116. prayers are too small. Here's just what I mean.

  117. So the context that we're about to jump into,

  118. right? The context is that the disciples have

  119. asked Jesus somewhere along the way, because

  120. it's captured in another spot. Teach us how to

  121. pray. So it's overplayed and often said, and

  122. I've said it before, but of all the things that

  123. the disciples could have asked that they saw

  124. Jesus do, right? The thing that they asked Jesus,

  125. the thing that they go, this moved the needle

  126. of heaven on earth. This moved the needle in

  127. the life of Jesus. What you capture them asking

  128. is teach us how to pray. So he says this, this

  129. then is how you should pray. Our Father in heaven,

  130. hallowed be your name. Instantly, what happens

  131. is our Father, our Father, right? So it's relational.

  132. It's connection to God. This is not just some

  133. random being. It's our Father. And what are we

  134. saying? He's in heaven, right? Like he is God,

  135. our Father. Hallowed, there is no one like you.

  136. Hallowed be your name. There's no one like you.

  137. So instantly in the first two parts, we're just

  138. framed up as one, we're in relationship with

  139. this God. Two, he is like no one else. The next

  140. part, your kingdom come, your will be done on

  141. earth as it is in heaven. Your kingdom come,

  142. your will. Okay, your kingdom. So instantly what

  143. I've said is, My kingdom is secondary to whose?

  144. Your kingdom, God, my father. Your kingdom come,

  145. your will. So my will, what I want, is secondary

  146. to God, what you want. So God, your kingdom and

  147. your will come where? On earth. You know what

  148. earth is? It's your home. It's my home. So, so

  149. we want your kingdom and your will in our home

  150. as it is in heaven. So, so, so what Jesus is

  151. tapping into is the reality that in our home,

  152. it can be shaped. It can be shaped by the things

  153. of heaven. Then in fact, in prayer and the gift

  154. that you have is to go to God almighty, the one

  155. who, his word, things change, right? Because

  156. he's got authority. You now have the privilege

  157. in prayer to go to God and go, I want my home

  158. to match what is in heaven. Now, this is connected

  159. to what God always intended for you. What Jesus

  160. is talking about is your purpose on planet earth.

  161. My purpose on planet earth. This is what you

  162. were created for. What do I mean? You go all

  163. the way back to creation. What do you find in

  164. creation? You find humans put into a garden.

  165. And in Genesis chapter 1, verse 26, it says specifically

    Genesis 1:26

  166. that they were created, these humans were created

  167. in the image of God. Right? That he created them

  168. to be reflectors of who he is. That you would

  169. be a reflection, that when people see you, they

  170. would see God. And then he says that they are

  171. to rule. So as a reflection of him, they are

  172. to rule. So what the word rule is, it carries

  173. royalty to it. And the idea is that it's a transfer

  174. of authority, that authority, they were put under

  175. the authority of God to shape and manage God's

  176. creation, to make it in the shaping and in the

  177. managing, to make it look like God. to make it

  178. look like a reflection of his image, that what

  179. you would create with your hands would be created

  180. in such a way that when people see what you do

  181. and how you shape and what you do when you're

  182. home and what you do in the spaces that God has

  183. you, that those spaces would be a reflection

  184. of God himself. That was the original intent

  185. of creation. That's why humans exist. And so

  186. what happens is you follow the story along, you

  187. find that sin enters. And what sin does is sin

  188. disconnects us, right? If God created us to be

  189. co -managers, what we do is we go, I'm going

  190. to manage my world. I don't need you. And so

  191. the humans stepped out from that and they begin

  192. to shape the world the way they want to shape

  193. the world. They begin to manage the world the

  194. way they want to manage the world. And what happens

  195. is they're disconnected from the source. And

  196. so now it's under their effort and under their

  197. way, and their world is being shaped by their

  198. hands. Enter Jesus. What does Jesus do? Jesus

  199. shows up, and his mission that he is on is to

  200. restore all things. What is he restoring them

  201. back to? To the way God always intended it to

  202. be. Well, what was his intent? That you would

  203. be co -shapers, co -managers, right? Like that

  204. you would be co -creators with God under his

  205. authority. Sin leaves us stepped out from under

  206. his authority, and now you are the authority.

  207. What Jesus does is Jesus comes and he restores

  208. you back under the authority that you were always

  209. supposed to be under, the authority of God the

  210. Father, which is why your kingdom come, your

  211. will be done. What are we saying? We're under

  212. your authority. We're under your will. Right?

  213. And so what Jesus does is Jesus restores the

  214. relationship so that now I can spend my days

  215. on planet Earth on the purpose that I was originally

  216. created for, to be a reflection of God himself

  217. through everything I shape under the authority

  218. of God. Now, here's where it gets fascinating,

  219. because when Jesus was about to leave the Earth,

  220. you might know it as the Great Commission. He

  221. says, all authority on heaven and earth has what?

  222. Been given to me. So Jesus has all authority.

  223. And what does he do? He puts his people, his

  224. church under his authority. And then he tells

  225. them things like this. When you pray in my name,

  226. it'll be given to you. In my name, any request.

  227. And you see it over and over in scripture, in

  228. Jesus name. And you might've been like, I just

  229. thought that's how you ended the call, right?

  230. Like, I just thought that's how, when you were

  231. praying, that's what you're supposed to do. I

  232. don't know. And what you get is this, that in

  233. my name, in Jesus's name, the translation of

  234. that is under my authority. Anything, so you're

  235. placing yourself back to what you were always

  236. created to be, under the authority and connected

  237. to the power source of heaven to shape what?

  238. To co -shape and co -manage this world to look

  239. a whole lot like God. Now, I don't know how you

  240. feel about all that. But I'm kind of simple.

  241. If you've been around me, just, if you're like,

  242. no, you're not, stick around for 10 minutes.

  243. Because I think this helps us understand. You

  244. were created to move things and shape things

  245. and manage things. In the kingdom of heaven.

  246. You were created by God to co -manage under his

  247. authority, under his power, under his reign,

  248. and the resources of heaven. Resources of heaven.

  249. That's what, when Jesus teaches here, that's

  250. what he's calling forward. That what is available

  251. in heaven is available on earth through who?

  252. Through his people. And so what has happened

  253. is in the original creation, we were connected

  254. directly to the source. And we were put into

  255. a garden where he says, OK, in the garden, you

  256. are going to co -manage. and shape this space

  257. in the image of God. And you're like, okay, I'm

  258. creating it, which I don't think Black and Decker

  259. was created in the image of God, but there you

  260. go. I'm created in the image of God and I will

  261. shape, I will shape and co -manage with God that

  262. his reflection is seen in what's created, essentially

  263. heaven on earth, where his rule and reign is

  264. what's there. Where his ideals and what he cares

  265. about. So what happens in the original creation,

  266. we're connected directly to the power source.

  267. To what? To shape. And some of you are like,

  268. that's obnoxiously loud. I agree. I hope it's

  269. obnoxious. You want to know why? Because God

  270. made you with muscle memory. Guess what's going

  271. to happen next time you hear a leaf blower? You're

  272. going to remember. Now, okay, so sin enters.

  273. What actually happened with sin? If we were connected

  274. directly to the source to co -create and manage,

  275. what happens with sin is now I'm out on my own,

  276. under my own strength and under my own power

  277. and whatever I can grab, and I'm trying to shape

  278. and manage my space. Pretty limited, right? The

  279. person of Jesus. It's the first time you're like,

  280. Jesus is an extension cord? Yes, he is. What

  281. did Jesus do? Jesus restored your connection

  282. to the power source of heaven. Jesus restored

  283. all of the resources of heaven according to the

  284. prayer of Jesus. This is how you should pray,

  285. that your kingdom come, your will be done where?

  286. On earth, in our home, as it is in heaven. So

  287. what you're asking is the resources of heaven

  288. because I'm connected to the power through the

  289. person of Jesus, I've been restored. So what?

  290. So now I can go about the world in a restored

  291. way. You also have to feel it because God made

  292. you to remember by feeling, right? But in Jesus,

  293. what has happened is what's been restored is

  294. the purpose you were always created for. You

  295. were created to be a conduit of heaven. You were

  296. created to be a conduit for the God who at one

  297. word, everything changes. You were created to

  298. be a power connected to the power source that

  299. in this moment, in this space, you can call forward

  300. the resources of heaven. You were created for

  301. it. And Jesus has restored it and given it back

  302. to you. And here's the thing. I don't pray like

  303. it. I don't find myself praying like all of heaven

  304. is available and the resources of heaven are

  305. available to this moment. And Jesus goes, hey,

  306. your kingdom come. Isn't it amazing? Sometimes

  307. I think, sometimes with like Bible stuff, we

  308. just need stories, right? If you're here and

  309. you're like, John, I don't really know. Go back

  310. to our Christmas service. All of the good news

  311. stories, guess what? They all came through the

  312. power of prayer. They all came from heaven releasing

  313. its resources to earth. When you pray for somebody

  314. for healing, what are you asking? God, you, under

  315. your authority, you are the healer. You have

  316. the power. And we're asking that that power flood

  317. this moment to this human and heal them. We're

  318. calling forward heaven to earth that it would

  319. be on earth because in heaven, guess what? Everything

  320. is healed. There's no more ailments. There's

  321. no more pain. There's no more suffering. If you

  322. like that message, come back in a couple of weeks.

  323. We're going to dig into that even more. But here's

  324. the thing. You are a conduit. You have the ability

  325. to pray with power. You have the ability to call

  326. forward heaven to earth. And we need these moments

  327. where we capture stories. There's a lady named

  328. Monica, and Monica had a son. And Monica would,

  329. every night, put her hand on her son's forehead,

  330. and she would pray for him. And she would pray

  331. that he would be a man of God, that he would

  332. be one that pursued passionately the things of

  333. God, that he would stand for Christ and everything

  334. that Jesus was for, that through him the kingdom

  335. would be built. Every night she's got her hand

  336. on his forehead. The young man, or the baby turns

  337. into a young man and turns adamantly opposed

  338. to Christianity, adamantly opposed to his mama's

  339. faith. In fact, so much so that he becomes an

  340. agitator on the other side. He decides that he's

  341. going to not only not stand for his mom's faith,

  342. he's going to stand against it. And he begins

  343. to speak in public spaces about it. And there's

  344. this moment where his mama doesn't stop praying

  345. because she believes in prayer, right? So she

  346. keeps praying. And she keeps praying that, God,

  347. you would rescue him and use him in the kingdom

  348. of God. And all the prayers that she's prayed,

  349. she's still praying those, that you can do that.

  350. And one night God gives her a dream. And in the

  351. dream, she sees her son restored to the faith.

  352. She sees him doing great things for God. And

  353. that ignites her again. And she's now got the

  354. new passion to begin to pray. And nine years

  355. later, this young man is about to go to a city.

  356. The city is known for ungodly living and everything

  357. that's opposed to God. And he's going to take

  358. this trip and she's scared for him. And she prays,

  359. God, don't let him go. And yet God still lets

  360. him go. And when he's in the city, something

  361. happens and the young man's life is turned around

  362. and he meets Jesus and it transforms his life

  363. for the rest of his life. And he did a 180 and

  364. became someone who was so strong in the faith

  365. in the early church. You might have heard of

  366. him. His name is Augustine. If you don't know

  367. who that is, go research it. Because it's someone

  368. who has transformed your life sitting here. It's

  369. someone that God has used to build his church.

  370. It's someone that God used within the foundations

  371. of our faith. And it started where? A mama going,

  372. I'm going to call the resources of heaven to

  373. a crib. Don't miss it. The power of heaven being

  374. released. There's a story. I think stories are

  375. just so good to help us understand. Acts chapter

    Acts 12 chapter mention

  376. 12. And verse one, it was about this time that

  377. King Herod arrested some who belonged to the

  378. church intending to persecute them. He had James.

  379. the brother of John put to death with the sword.

  380. So King Herod is arresting the early church and

  381. his intent is to persecute. Not only does he

  382. arrest, but he actually puts to death, right?

  383. And here's the thing, James is put to death.

  384. And in that, I want you to capture, what does

  385. this mean for the church? Okay, so imagine we're

  386. here today. There's a new regime that comes in

  387. place. And that king's like, I'm going to start

  388. pursuing the church and putting them to death.

  389. And everybody outside of the church is celebrating

  390. that you're being persecuted and put to death.

  391. I don't know about you. My natural thing is like,

  392. that's not good. To be scared, to be worried,

  393. because they are actively putting them to death.

  394. And so in this context, all of the human feels

  395. are there, right? Like all of the natural fears

  396. that would have been into it. into the moment.

  397. And so then in verse three, it says, when he

  398. saw, so when the king sees that this met with

  399. approval among the Jews, he proceeded to seize

  400. Peter also. So what happens is the Jews who are

  401. the ones that by having their support, by not

  402. creating any riots, by keeping the peace, so

  403. to speak, By making them happy, that keeps him

  404. in power. So what is happening, the king politically

  405. is making a power move, a power play. He is,

  406. you might say, using the worldly things to shape

  407. his kingdom, right? The king is using means of

  408. violence. He's using means of coercion. He's

  409. using means of... playing the political power

  410. game, and he's doing it all to what? To shape,

  411. to shape the world around him. So much so that

  412. then verse four, he says, after arresting Peter,

  413. so Peter's a leader in the church, after arresting

  414. Peter. He put him in prison, handing him over

  415. to be guarded by four squads of four soldiers

  416. each. Herod intended to bring him out for public

  417. trial after Passover. So he arrests Peter, who's

  418. the leader. He puts him into a prison. The best

  419. we can tell, there were these four squads. And

  420. in those four squads, there was four soldiers.

  421. And so two of the soldiers would be side by side

  422. with him, chained to him. And then two of them,

  423. one by the first door, one by the second door.

  424. There was no way Peter was walking out. is what

  425. the Bible wants us to understand. And then on

  426. top of that, it says that he's gonna have a public

  427. trial. Now the public trial, because he already

  428. knows the favor of the people are what? On his

  429. side, the public trial of Peter, you might as

  430. well have just said is a death sentence. He's

  431. gonna be put to death. So you've got a king who

  432. is using the world around him, using worldly

  433. measure, worldly. activities, if you like, false

  434. senses of power, false senses of fear, to shape

  435. the world to be how he wants it to be. I want

  436. to give you a picture of what that looks like.

  437. Some of you are like, man, what is going to happen

  438. next? I don't know. I'm with you. But we got

  439. this guy. Let's see what it does. Because for

  440. the king, he's choosing to use what? Not the

  441. gift that came by purpose through Jesus to heaven,

  442. but he's choosing to use another power source.

  443. He's choosing to use the world's power to shape

  444. the world around him. And it looks like it works,

  445. right? This thing sounds like a go -kart, I'm

  446. just telling you, right? Every time, smells like

  447. a go -kart, sounds like a go -kart. But here's

  448. the thing, the king is shaping the world around

  449. him. And he's using... The world's means to do

  450. it. And as he shapes, at some point, it becomes

  451. extremely limited. At some point, his power will

  452. run out. Because what he's tapped into is a false

  453. sense of power that was never created to ignite

  454. who God created him to be. And to shape the world

  455. around him the way God intended to shape the

  456. world around him. I wonder, church, I wonder

  457. how many of you, how many of us, we just continue,

  458. we continue to wonder why our world, and by world

  459. I mean your life, why your life is so limited.

  460. while you're always fighting to hold on to, while

  461. you're always fighting to shape and move. Oh,

  462. you're trying to do what you're created to do,

  463. but you're tapped into the wrong source of life.

  464. And it's fascinating. Listen to what the church

  465. does, right? So he's arrested. He's about to

  466. go on trial. He'll go to death. Listen to the

  467. very next verse. So Peter was kept in prison,

  468. but the church was earnestly praying for him.

  469. What is the church doing? This is bad. That's

  470. what the church is doing. This is not good. You

  471. know what happens? I mean, you can imagine the

  472. conversation, right? You know what happens when

  473. he goes to trial? They're definitely going to

  474. condemn him. You can understand the anxiety and

  475. the stress and that this isn't going to turn

  476. out well. And the temptation is that I go and

  477. I shape it by this, right? Like I shape it by

  478. what I can do. Instead, what we're given by the

  479. church is they step into what? They step into

  480. prayer and it's not just any kind of prayer.

  481. That word earnestly is to fervently pray. It

  482. is also to constantly pray. They constantly went

  483. to what? The power source that they knew. What

  484. does the church do? The church goes, I'm going

  485. to connect. I'm going to connect to what we've

  486. been given in Jesus. And through the power of

  487. the Holy Spirit, we're going to go to God in

  488. prayer. I'm going to ask him to work. We're going

  489. to ask him to shape. That what seems impossible

  490. is possible with God. And so we're going to go

  491. to the source. We're going to go to heaven's

  492. resources and ask them to flood. Listen to what

  493. happens. The night before, Herod was to bring

  494. him to trial. So the night before, this is last

  495. minute, y 'all. The night before, like the next

  496. morning, he's going to trial. He's going to be

  497. found guilty. He's going to be put to death,

  498. right? So that's the kind of timeline. This is

  499. last minute. Peter was sleeping between two soldiers

  500. bound with two chains. And sentries stood guard

  501. at the entrance. Wait. Peter's chained to two

  502. soldiers. And what is he doing? The night before,

  503. the last minute, he's sleeping. There's something

  504. here about trusting the one who, one word from

  505. him, one word from him. I can sleep in the midst

  506. of what looks like certain death. Why? Because

  507. one word from him, one word from him will change

  508. it. And so the church is tapped in, right? Like

  509. the church is calling forward. Suddenly, an angel

  510. of the Lord appeared and the light shone in the

  511. cell. The prayer makes it to the cell. He struck

  512. Peter on the side and woke him up. He's sleeping

  513. so solidly, he has to be hit in the side to wake

  514. him up. That is how confident he is in who God

  515. is and what God is doing. He gets hit on the

  516. side. Get up, he said, and the chains and the

  517. chains and the chains, what? Fell off. And the

  518. chains fell off. I wonder how many of you sitting

  519. in here, the story that you're reading is actually

  520. you. And you know what you're chained to? Your

  521. vices. You're chained to your way of shaping

  522. the world. You're chained to the things that

  523. you just can't stop, that you said you would

  524. stop, but you can't stop. And you're chained

  525. to them. And you need to know today, the only

  526. power that breaks the chains that are on you

  527. is the power released from heaven. There's not

  528. another source. That you're not strong enough.

  529. Oh, it may look like you're winning today. You

  530. will not win because your power will run out.

  531. The only thing that breaks the chains around

  532. Peter is God himself and they fall off. Verse

  533. eight, then the angel said to him, put on your

  534. clothes and sandals. You know what you do when

  535. an angel tells you to do something? You do it.

  536. And Peter did so. Wrap your cloak around you

  537. and follow me, the angel told him. Peter followed

  538. him out of the prison, but he had no idea what

  539. the angel was doing, what the angel was doing

  540. was really happening. He thought he was seeing

  541. a vision. They passed the first and second guards,

  542. so they just breeze on by, easy breezy, and came

  543. to the iron gate leading to the city. I don't

  544. know much about iron gates, but I know they're,

  545. in these days, they're pretty strong, right?

  546. One word from our God, listen. It opened for

  547. them by itself. An iron gate. Just open. Why?

  548. Because heaven's resources crashing into earth

  549. changes the way earth works. It changes the way

  550. earth is shaped. And they went through it. And

  551. when he had walked the length of one street,

  552. suddenly the angel left him. Then Peter came

  553. to himself and said, now I know without a doubt,

  554. the Lord has sent his angel and rescued me. The

  555. Lord has sent his angel and rescued me. Notice

  556. what he doesn't say. Oh, there's a whole bunch

  557. of people that are praying for me back there

  558. because they were praying and because of their

  559. power. No, no, no, no. They prayed and what showed

  560. up? The Lord showed up and rescued. He has no

  561. doubt. He is very clear. One word from that God,

  562. when that God showed up, Shows up, things have

  563. to change. From Herod's clutches and from everything

  564. the Jewish people were hoping would happen, when

  565. this dawned on him, he went to the house of Mary,

  566. the mother of John, also called Mark, where many

  567. people had gathered and were what? Praying. So

  568. he goes to the very place. Where there is a group

  569. of people who believe in prayer that are calling

  570. forward the resources from heaven that on earth

  571. heaven would crash in. Peter knocked at the outer

  572. entrance and the servant named Rhoda came and

  573. answered the door. When she recognized Peter's

  574. voice, she was so overjoyed she ran back without

  575. opening it and exclaimed, Peter is at the door.

  576. You're out of the mind. You're out of your mind,

  577. they told her. When she kept insisting it was

  578. so, they said it must be his angel. They had

  579. a belief at the time that when you died an angel,

  580. you had a guardian angel and that guardian angel

  581. showed up. So they're believing he's dead and

  582. his guardian angel has showed up. But Peter kept

  583. knocking at the door and when they opened the

  584. door and saw him, they were what? They were astonished.

  585. Okay, we just got to catch the story. Peter,

  586. set free, he comes, he knocks at the outer door.

  587. Rhoda comes up to the door, right? Oh, that sounds

  588. like Peter. She runs back. Hey, Peter's here.

  589. Meanwhile, Peter's still out of the door. Can

  590. I come in? You don't let me in? So we have a

  591. debate on whether it's an angel or not, but when

  592. they realize it's Peter, maybe it's just worth

  593. stating. It was easier for them to believe that

  594. Peter had died than it was that God answered

  595. prayer. And I wonder how many of us, it's easier

  596. for us to believe that God will not answer your

  597. prayer than God will answer your prayer. I don't

  598. know about you, but I want to be in a community

  599. that is astonished by the power of heaven that's

  600. released on earth. I don't want to be a part

  601. of a community. I don't want to pray anymore

  602. around the whole like the idea of, oh, well,

  603. we'll pray and see what God, I don't want to

  604. do that. I want to pray in expectancy that the

  605. God who has unlimited resources, who has tapped

  606. us into it through the person of Jesus and tells

  607. us to pray that heaven would come to earth, that

  608. we would pray that heaven would come to earth.

  609. That what you need and what I need and what you

  610. see, that we would trust the God who is all powerful

  611. for one word that'll change everything. And so

  612. let me ask you, if you wrote down all of your

  613. prayers, This past week. And God answered everyone.

  614. What would happen. Let's pray. God. God we humbly.

  615. Recognize who you are. Just in recognizing you

  616. are God almighty. That means we're not. God we

  617. say thank you. For restoring in Jesus the purpose.

  618. That we have on this earth. that we can co -shape

  619. and co -manage, that we get to co -create with

  620. you, that we get to be the distributors through

  621. our prayers of heaven's resources. God, would

  622. you light a fire in us in the belief of prayer

  623. that it is a gift from you? God, I pray over

  624. those today that their prayers are too small.

  625. Would you give them faith? Would you help them

  626. in their unbelief? God, would we be a people

  627. that cry out to you that heaven, your kingdom,

  628. that it would come to earth, that your will would

  629. be done where? In our homes. God, would you start

  630. in our homes? Would you move to our community?

  631. Would you move through our church? Would you

  632. move through our nation? that we would see the

  633. power of heaven released. So God, we thank you

  634. that we're people that get to put you on display.

  635. May your kingdom come and your will be done.

  636. It is in your name that we all say, amen.
