  1. Welcome to Transformation Church Podcast, where we represent God to

  2. the lost and found for transformation in Christ. We're so

  3. glad you're here and wherever you're listening from, we believe

  4. God will transform your life. Do today's message.

  5. I hope you're doing good this morning.

  6. My name is Charles, and I'm glad you're here today.

  7. A fun piece of information, which is this past week

  8. I found out I was old. So that's why I

  9. got readers. I got readers this past week. And here's

  10. why I got them because a friend went to.

  11. Do an impression of me.

  12. I'll leave this friend unnamed, but he's our youth pastor, and.

  13. He went like this. He said, watch us, watch this.

  14. So the Bible says, So first of all, you wait

  15. till your eyes go you six foot twelve, you're gonna

  16. be needing big glasses. Okay, any all right, here we go.

  17. This is what the Bible says. Genesis, chapter number fifty.

  18. Where are we gonna start here?

  19. We're gonna start in verse number fourteen, Genesis fifty, Verse fourteen.

  20. After burying Jacob, Joseph returned to Egypt with his brothers

  21. and all who had accompanied him to his father's burrier.

  22. But now that their father was.

  23. Dead, Joseph's brothers became fearful. Now Joseph is going to

  24. show his anger and pay us back for all the

  25. wrong we did. So they sent a message to Joseph

  26. before your father died. He instructed us to say, we're sorry.

  27. Please forgive your brothers for the great wrong they did

  28. to you, for their sin and treating you so cruelly.

  29. So we, the servants of God your father, begged you

  30. to forgive our sin. When Joseph received the message, he

  31. broke down and he wept. Then his brothers came and

  32. threw themselves down before Joseph.

  33. Look, we are your slaves, they said.

  34. But Joseph applied.

  35. Do not be afraid of me.

  36. Am I God that I can punish you. You intended

  37. to harm me. You intended to harm me, but God intended.

  38. I gotta say this because I'm not gonna preach it

  39. in the sermon. But those are the same word there.

  40. It's the same Greek word in the original language. And

  41. why I'm saying that is because we sing things like,

  42. oh the devil did it, but then God turned it.

  43. God is not so weak that he has to turn anything.

  44. The devil's doing. He's greater than the devil, so in

  45. his sovereignty and his understanding of the plan of our life,

  46. he accounted for that to go wrong, and he already

  47. knew it was gonna make you better. I don't have

  48. to make the God does not have to make do

  49. with stuff the devil is doing, and try to get

  50. it together. And oh, let me see if I can

  51. work this out.

  52. He already knows.

  53. Readers back on, you intended to harm me, but God

  54. intended it all for good, for he brought me to

  55. this position so I could save the lives of many people.

  56. So don't be afraid. I will continue to take care

  57. of you. So he reassured them by speaking kindly to them.

  58. The title of my sermon today three words, three important words,

  59. three powerful words, three words I think we need to embrace.

  60. Three words that I think will help you get through

  61. your week, your month, and your year. I was wrong.

  62. There was a second where I thought I wasn't gonna

  63. make it, But thank God, I was wrong. I spent

  64. a lot of my life afraid of what people thought

  65. about me, and I thought that my failures were gonna

  66. define me.

  67. But thanks be to God, I was wrong.

  68. I thought that last season of loneliness was gonna be

  69. the last season I would.

  70. Ever know, but thank god I was wrong.

  71. I thought anxiety was gonna always be my portion, but

  72. I was wrong. I thought his mercy only ran to

  73. good people, but I was wrong. I thought the grave

  74. was gonna hold him, but thank god I was wrong.

  75. I thought that my family's lineage was gonna keep on going,

  76. but thank god I was wrong. They said we wouldn't

  77. have a baby, and I believed it for a second,

  78. but thank god I was wrong. They said that this

  79. season would be my whole lifestyle, but thank god.

  80. I was wrong.

  81. I started to slip in the water when Jesus told

  82. me to get out, and I thought I was gonna.

  83. Drown, but he reached down. Thank God I was wrong.

  84. Spent a lot of my life trying to be right,

  85. but I'm grateful that there were some things.

  86. I got wrong. I was wrong. I was wrong. I

  87. was wrong, and I'm glad I was wrong.

  88. I was certain about some things and how they were

  89. gonna go, but I was wrong. I thought I knew

  90. how my life was gonna go, but I was wrong.

  91. Dear God, would you change us? Would you encounter us.

  92. Would you.

  93. Help us to see our lives and our future and

  94. our children the way you see them. We need your presence,

  95. we need your glory, We need your goodness, we need

  96. your mercy. And I think you over these next couple

  97. of moments that we spend together, that you would lead

  98. us and that you would guide us. It's in the

  99. beautiful name of Jesus we pray. And everybody said, Amen, Amen, Amen,

  100. Zach you just rock with me, man, because we're gonna

  101. get straight to business. We've been talking about fear, and

  102. I want to introduce something to you today that I

  103. think is vitally important.

  104. For not only the way you think, but the way

  105. you live.

  106. And here's the central theme of today's sermon. The most

  107. dangerous thing about fear is not that it makes you emotional,

  108. is that.

  109. It makes you certain.

  110. There's nothing like the certainty of fear, the certainty of

  111. knowing what's gonna happen, and fear has a way of

  112. doing that to all of us. Fear will have us

  113. certain about stuff there's no way we can know. Fear

  114. will have you obsessed with stuff that you can't control,

  115. and fear will cost you. The very thing fear is

  116. promising you, it's protecting, and today I just want to

  117. take a couple of moments to submit to you that

  118. maybe fear has been lying to you, because there's nothing.

  119. Like being certain. There's nothing like just knowing.

  120. I mean, for a second, I know we got the

  121. piano with us, so it's just to stay with me.

  122. But do you remember when you were young, how certain

  123. you were, how much you knew. Oh, I know exactly

  124. how my life is gonna go. I know exactly how.

  125. I mean that. I can bet you there is nobody.

  126. More certain than like a sixteen or seventeen year old

  127. with no job, no opportunities, no future, and they just

  128. be knowing something from about a certain section in our

  129. churches right over here.

  130. They just nothing I already know.

  131. But there's nothing like maturity that turns your certainty into mystery.

  132. I don't know if you've had this experience, but the

  133. older I've gotten, it feels like I got more questions.

  134. I felt like, oh, the older you get, the more

  135. sure you become.

  136. And in some ways it's true.

  137. But in some other ways, I've been wrong enough times

  138. about stuff I knew I was gonna be right.

  139. About to know maybe I don't know as much as

  140. I think I know.

  141. Genesis, after number thirty seven, we meet a certain seventeen

  142. year old. His name is Joseph, and Joseph isn't anybody.

  143. He's a favored son. His great grandfather started this whole thing,

  144. Abraham Abraham Isaac Jacob. Jacob's name gets changed to Israel.

  145. He has twelve boys, one of them Joseph, and Joseph

  146. is seventeen years old when he meet him, and the

  147. Bible gives us detail in Genesis thirty seven that his

  148. daddy loves him more than all his other kids. Now

  149. you're not technically supposed to be saying that out loud,

  150. but his daddy don't care.

  151. He doesn't care at all.

  152. He loves him so much he gives him like a

  153. special jacket that he don't give.

  154. To nobody else. He gives him his jacket.

  155. The Bible tells us that around seventeen years old, that

  156. he has a dream, and in his dream, he's a

  157. he's stars, and his brothers are other stars, and all

  158. of a sudden, his brothers start to bow to him.

  159. And then he has another dream, and in this dreams,

  160. they're all bundles of wheat, and his is in the

  161. center and all his brothers bow to him. And with

  162. a dream like that and a coat like he had,

  163. I'm sure he was certain. Oh, I know how this

  164. is gonna go. Step number one. I gotta go tell

  165. my brothers. Bible tells O. Joseph rolls up on his

  166. brothers and he says, hey, y'all, I got a dream

  167. that black people and white people.

  168. The white man, instead of checking it has bounced.

  169. Come on, somebody, y'all don't know that about Martin Luther

  170. King jer At first, I have a dream speech. He

  171. comes up to his brothers and he tells some of

  172. the dream and he says, hey, listen, I don't know

  173. you know, I know you kind of mad at me

  174. because you know I got the coat. It ain't nothing

  175. about it but a g thing. But anyways, I had

  176. this dream and in the dream, you know I didn't

  177. I didn't give myself the dream.

  178. But you were bowing to me.

  179. And I can only imagine this ain't even biblical.

  180. This is just brothers. I got a brother. I know

  181. how brothers get down. Brother, you don't shut up right

  182. now'll be quiet. Ain't nobody bowing to you. Ain't nobody

  183. bout to be little do But I'm serious. I'm serious, bru.

  184. Hey, listen, I had a dream.

  185. I had another one too, Bro. Anybody want to hear

  186. your second dream?

  187. We don't hear the first dream.

  188. You better be quiet, no, bro, just listen, Just listen.

  189. That's probably it's just different. It's different. It's different.

  190. But don't play with me if this is the same.

  191. If you about to say something stupid, don't say it now, bro,

  192. Just listen. I swear all right, go ahead. So we're

  193. all in the field, right and then I'm in the middle,

  194. and y'all start the boy if he.

  195. Don't be quiet with this dream, I promise you.

  196. And the Bible tells us that he tells him the dream,

  197. and they start resenting him.

  198. And you may be familiar with this story.

  199. You may not, but if you grew up in church,

  200. we all kind of know Joseph's story. He's a young man,

  201. he has a dream, and we kind of skip through

  202. his story. He goes from the pit to the palace,

  203. to the pit to in charge, and we do all

  204. these things.

  205. But I want to zone in for a moment.

  206. On the fear of a seventeen.

  207. Year old man.

  208. That the Bible tells us gets jumped by his eleven brothers.

  209. And thrown into a pit. This is what happened.

  210. The Bible tells us that he's walking up and they

  211. see him coming.

  212. Look, I'm gonna I'm gonna read it for you. Just

  213. say all. I'm thinking like, man, he just making all

  214. this up.

  215. Man, come on, get out of here. Genesis thirty seven.

  216. I believe it is right here, Genesis thirty seven, eighteen.

  217. When Joseph's brothers saw him coming, they recognized him from

  218. a distance. As he approached, they made plans to kill him.

  219. Here comes that dreamer. Come on, let's kill him and

  220. throw him into one of these cisterns.

  221. We'll tell our father wild animal has eaten him. But

  222. Ruben heard their scheme. Let's not kill him, and Ruben

  223. makes a plan. He says, listen, we'll just throw him

  224. in there. And Ruben's plan is to come back and get.

  225. Him when the other brothers leave.

  226. But if you think about the scene, I mean, this

  227. is a seventeen year old that this is. He is

  228. my brothers, this is my people, this is my family.

  229. What's up, guys? Hey, come here real quick.

  230. Let's talk to you, all right, what's up?

  231. God?

  232. Hey, come over here. What's going on? Guys? What's up

  233. with the vibes are a little weird?

  234. No, man, we ain't.

  235. We're done with the dream and stuff. Come here, Hey, yo, stop?

  236. What are y'all? Guys? And the Bible tells us eleven brothers.

  237. Grabbed their little brother and throw him into a pit.

  238. This is where certainty starts to fade for our character Joseph.

  239. Because I just knew. I knew God gave me this dream.

  240. I knew he was talking to me.

  241. I knew he had a plan.

  242. I knew I wasn't like everybody else. I knew that

  243. he put something in me. I just knew that it

  244. wasn't gonna be my story like everybody else's story. I

  245. just knew that it meant something different when God spoke

  246. to me. I just knew that he called me out

  247. before I was in my mother's womb.

  248. And he had a plan to prosper me and not

  249. to I just you knew it, And all of a sudden,

  250. what you think you know?

  251. You don't know no more. He was wrong. He was

  252. wrong about his brothers. Because I thought your family was

  253. the place you go to get your dreams. Reassured, supported

  254. and encouraged. But sadly, Joseph's not the only one to

  255. find out that you can be wrong about people. The

  256. Bible tells us he's in the pit, and this is

  257. what happens when you're in a pit, when you're in

  258. a dark season, when you thought your life was going

  259. to go one way and it starts going another way.

  260. Is your certainty has to It starts fading a little bit,

  261. but not too much, because the Bible tells us that

  262. they change up the plan and they come to get it.

  263. And now this is where the story turns, because if

  264. I'm Joseph, I'm in the pit, and I hear my

  265. brother say, yo, Joe, Joe, you down now?

  266. Yeah, I'm down here. What's up? Hey, man, we're gonna

  267. get you out. I knew y'all was playing. Hey, don't

  268. even worry about it. They get him out, no doubt.

  269. He starts to feel hope again.

  270. I'm good, I'm good, I'm good. And then it says

  271. there's travelers going by, and they sell him to these strangers.

  272. Wrong again, Joseph. Then the Bible tells us his story

  273. progresses a little bit. He finds himself in Egypt, and

  274. he finds himself working for a man named Potiphar, and

  275. Potiphar is a big deal. He's in charge. And no doubt,

  276. this is gotta be the dream.

  277. This is definitely it. This is definitely it. Brother's gone.

  278. I'm out of slavery. I've worked my way up, I've

  279. got a decent job. This is god to be a

  280. dream that he showed me when I was seventeen.

  281. This is it, for sure?

  282. Wrong again, that ain't the dream, Joe, because the Bible

  283. tells us that Potiphar's wife had an eye for Joseph.

  284. Now we always make light of this. I've definitely done it.

  285. Cougar came in, it's all josephin ain't nothing like an

  286. Egyptsuan cougar.

  287. He's like what he was that me. But the accusations

  288. are not a joke.

  289. Accusations can change your life.

  290. And he did nothing wrong.

  291. And there goes that certainty gone again.

  292. In prison. And what you don't know.

  293. About this unless you study into the scripture is from

  294. seventeen years old when he has the dream, working his

  295. way up in Potiphars and then thrown in jail. He's

  296. thirty years old. Years I guess they forgot about me.

  297. I guess.

  298. And it's interesting with fear is when your life starts

  299. going like this, Fear starts telling you stories of certainty.

  300. You didn't hear God. You ain't special, you think.

  301. God spoke to you.

  302. No, you'll always be overlooked. You'll always be like your dad.

  303. People will always know you by the mistakes you made.

  304. It doesn't matter how hard you try, it doesn't matter

  305. how hard you work.

  306. This is your story.

  307. Now, Joseph is in the pit, he's in prison, and again,

  308. I mean, his whole life is this roller coaster of certainty, fear, certainty, fear, certainty, fear,

  309. and it's this limbo. And there's these two people in

  310. the prison, a baker and a cupbearer, and they come

  311. to him and they're having dreams. And here's what you

  312. need to know, just to encourage somebody.

  313. No matter what.

  314. Season you're in, no matter how dark it may feel,

  315. God still put that gift on.

  316. The inside of you.

  317. And no matter where anybody puts you, it doesn't matter

  318. if they hire you, it doesn't matter if they promote you.

  319. They can't touch the gift on the inside of you

  320. because they didn't put it there.

  321. Sometimes we like to.

  322. Wait, like I'm gonna wait to do my gift until I.

  323. Really everybody can see it. But Joseph is in a

  324. prison with two people.

  325. That can do nothing from him, and he's sitting there thinking, well,

  326. why I'm down here, I might as well make a

  327. difference while I'm down here. I might as well do

  328. what God made me to do. While I'm down here,

  329. I might as well make the devil mad. While I'm

  330. down here, I might as well do something that's not

  331. about me.

  332. And they have these two dreams and there's a lot

  333. of Bible will come in today.

  334. Genesis thirty seven is Genesis fifty Go read it for

  335. yourself this week, just to make sure I ain't making

  336. up no parts of this story. He sits there two

  337. dreams and he's like, hey man, so good news and

  338. bad news. You gonna die, You're gonna get out in

  339. a couple of days, and you're gonna die. You though,

  340. you're gonna get out, and you're gonna get promoted. They're like, really,

  341. of course, the one guy that's down here, Look, she line,

  342. you don't know nothing.

  343. Nothing like you ever get a prophetic word line.

  344. They don't know nothing.

  345. It happens.

  346. Gets out, one man dies, the other man gets promoted

  347. back to his position.

  348. Of the cup bearer of the king.

  349. The only problem is Joseph asked, Yo, when you get out,

  350. don't forget about me like my brothers did. Don't forget

  351. about me like everybody else. Just promise me one thing.

  352. When you get out of here, remember me.

  353. He doesn't remember.

  354. Him until there's a scripture that says, your gift will

  355. make room for you. And Pharaoh had a lot of

  356. magicians around him, but he didn't have no profits.

  357. There's a difference.

  358. He starts being tormented by these dreams, and at just

  359. the right time, the cup bear remembers Joseph, Yo, King,

  360. there was.

  361. This guy in prison.

  362. I don't know if he's still there, but he can

  363. his god be telling him what's going on. Goes and

  364. gets Hi brings before the king. He says, hey, listen,

  365. it's gonna seven years famine. You need to store up,

  366. and then there's gonna be there's gonna be seven years

  367. of plenty. You need to store up during that time,

  368. and then there's gonna be seven years of famine.

  369. And if you store up, and here's.

  370. The beautiful thing about our God, this is what I

  371. want to say real quick. Everybody that God is talking

  372. to ain't called to be a preacher.

  373. This is business strategy, This is economical insight. This is it. Everybody.

  374. You have a moment at the altar and it's like,

  375. I need to be on the host team. No, you

  376. don't go back to your job and let God speak

  377. to you about how to change that industry.

  378. If we all up in here, who's helping the people

  379. out there? So do what God made you to do.

  380. Start that business, run that company, create the app. I

  381. don't know what it is, but God will empower you

  382. and give you divine wisdom.

  383. And insight to make a difference. He gives him this wisdom,

  384. and again here we go.

  385. This is got to be the dream. This is got

  386. to be the dream. Why because it's kind of the dream.

  387. Because some people.

  388. Are bowing to me.

  389. And here's the thing I've learned in my own life

  390. that fear will have you negotiate with your dream. This

  391. is close enough. This is I've been single so long.

  392. They're close, and they're close. They're not exactly what I saw.

  393. They're not exactly what God showed me. They're not exactly

  394. don't treat me exactly the way, but I can't be alone.

  395. So this this is probably this is probably it not

  396. the dream from Genesis thirty seven. It's Genesis fifty. We

  397. find out the moment when his dreams come true. Genesis

  398. chapter number forty five. Joseph reveals his identity as the heading.

  399. Joseph could stand it no longer. There were many people

  400. in the room, and he said, isn't his attendants out

  401. all of you? So he was alone with his brothers,

  402. and then he broke down and wept. The Bible says

  403. he wept so loudly all the Egyptians could hear him,

  404. and it quickly carried to Pharaoh's palace. I am Joseph,

  405. this is the dream. It wasn't when you were seventeen.

  406. It wasn't when you became number two in charge. It

  407. wasn't when God spoke to you and gave you the

  408. prophetic word of how to run the country of Egypt. No, no, no,

  409. that's not the dream. It's when you're curled up crying,

  410. fighting back frustration at the people who threw you in

  411. a pit, and they're now at your feet needing something

  412. you got, and it's God saying Can I trust you

  413. right here through all the fear, through all the anger,

  414. through all the frustration, through all the resentment, through all

  415. the bitterness, through all the hurt, through all the disappointment.

  416. You want a dream from God. This is a dream

  417. from God. The people who threw you in a.

  418. Pit come back talking about can I have something? Joseph says,

  419. I'm Joseph, and I.

  420. Can't help but imagine.

  421. Them sitting there looking at their little brother, and.

  422. All this going through their mind is I was wrong.

  423. I was wrong. I didn't know. I didn't know that

  424. you were. If I would have known, I never would

  425. have done that. Fear will have you certain about a

  426. lot of things.

  427. But today I want to give you three things that

  428. fear will have you certain of that you need to

  429. learn how to be wrong about. The first thing fear

  430. will have you certain about is people. Fear will have

  431. you think and I know who they are. Fear will

  432. have you looking at people who are different than you.

  433. Saying I already know what they're about. Fear of what

  434. you think about other people will have you making up stories.

  435. About people that are not true, and your pride does

  436. not care to confirm why.

  437. Because fear tries to protect.

  438. Itself, and the only way to protect me is to

  439. make you an enemy. This is why we get so segregated.

  440. And I wish I couldn't say it wasn't in the church,

  441. but sadly it still is, because we'll.

  442. Look at different people and will think, God, that I

  443. don't know about them.

  444. I don't know about them.

  445. And the truth, you're afraid, you're afraid, you're afraid, and

  446. instead of just saying you're afraid, you make up stories

  447. about people, You distance yourself from people, you talk about people,

  448. and you.

  449. Just say, we don't do stuff like that.

  450. And I'm not just talking about because of the color

  451. of somebody's skin.

  452. I'm talking about other churches we make up stories.

  453. Or that church you know, they just do this, and

  454. that church they worship a little much, and that church

  455. is just a little too intense for me, and that

  456. church is just a little too loose for me. And

  457. that person, I don't know if they really love God.

  458. I don't even know if their heart is right. I

  459. don't know what you know about their heart. You're afraid,

  460. and you're wrong about them. And don't get me started

  461. on some of my friends that a lot of us

  462. have been wrong about. And I'm talking about friends that

  463. I know in my real life, not people in.

  464. The church, people outside of the church. I had a

  465. friend I started trying to bring to church. I can't

  466. tell you.

  467. How sideways people looked at him because he had tattoos.

  468. Who's this guy? Oh man, he may have it wrong?

  469. What what?

  470. What? Oh?

  471. I will jump off the stage? What please? Please? Please

  472. say something else? I don't know.

  473. They just look a little don't they know they shouldn't

  474. be wearing that?

  475. No, they don't, dummy, that's why they're in here. Don't

  476. they know? We don't do that here. We don't do

  477. what here. You don't do nothing here except for sit

  478. in that chair. So be quiet. Why you just sorry? Sorry, sorry,

  479. sorry sorry.

  480. I'm not.

  481. Let me calm down, Let me calm down. I've been

  482. wrong about people. I've been wrong.

  483. The fear will have you wrong about people thinking you know,

  484. people thinking you know why they do what they do.

  485. When you think you.

  486. Know why somebody did what they did, it's not a

  487. reflection of them, it's a reflection.

  488. Of you, because you thinking what you would do if

  489. you were.

  490. Them, and you ain't them. Well, I know if that

  491. was me The only reason I would have done that

  492. is what, Yeah, that's you. They don't say nothing about them.

  493. But fear will have you wrong about people. It'll also

  494. have you wrong about your path in life.

  495. It'll have you thinking, Oh, I know how God's gonna

  496. do this. I know exact.

  497. I'm gonna go here, then I'm gonna go here, then

  498. I'm gonna go here.

  499. And God's like, what if we go this way? The

  500. devil is a liar. I'm supposed to go from glory

  501. to glory.

  502. Ask Paul getting flogged writing jails from prison. What glory

  503. to glory means. It doesn't mean rich to rich in

  504. check the check. It means obedience to obedience, faithfulness to faithfulness,

  505. kindness to kindness, love to love, gentleness to gentleness, self

  506. control to self control. No man ah man either way,

  507. I know if it's God and here's a dangerous here's

  508. some dangerous language I've used before, I'm just you know, I.

  509. Just feel peace about it. Okay, yes, but what do

  510. you mean by peace? Do you mean you just feel comfortable?

  511. Because that's not peace. You mean you feel safe? Oh,

  512. you mean you feel in control? I got it.

  513. So if you're in control, that's how you know. It's God,

  514. my best friends in the world. He has us saying

  515. is follow the nausea.

  516. Think Peter fell in control when God said, ay, step

  517. out of the boat. You sure Peter's better than me.

  518. I would have had a couple which one of us judas.

  519. I wouldn't risk your brother. Don't get don't get out?

  520. Whoa okay, hold on, hold no, no, let me.

  521. If following Jesus don't make you feel awkward every once

  522. in a while, let me kindly call out and encourage

  523. something that just happened a couple of weeks ago.

  524. A couple of weeks ago is Father's Day.

  525. We called all the men down to the front, and

  526. not everybody but I was standing up here. You didn't

  527. see yourself.

  528. So I will say this.

  529. Ninety nine zero point two percent of the men were

  530. like this. It was a good worship song. I want

  531. to challenge you, man of God, lift your hands. Oh

  532. I don't need to be doing all that. Don't be

  533. talking about me doing all that.

  534. Bruh.

  535. We saw you during the finals, talk about it. You

  536. had your whole joint painted and you was.

  537. This should feel a little uncomfortable Following Jesus should feel

  538. a little awkward if you following Jesus. It's like, man,

  539. this is great. My life is better. Everything's working out.

  540. I'm getting checks in the mail of God. I'm getting

  541. prophetic words about becoming a billionaire. And you know, I

  542. don't even have to really do anything.

  543. I can still just do whatever and apologize and man,

  544. God is great.

  545. That's not that's not what this book is like. Because

  546. Joe lost everything.

  547. Samson was in powered by God, but that disobedience did

  548. cost him something.

  549. It's not all.

  550. Jesus about to send out of the disciples. He says,

  551. a son a man has no place to lay his head.

  552. So just before you as gimps, why he's turning a

  553. bunch of people to follow me. He said, hey, real quick,

  554. if you want to follow me, all you got to

  555. do is just pick up your follow me.

  556. That'll be good.

  557. They're not thinking about a Jesus peace around their neck.

  558. All they know is Roman crucifixion. The cross isn't associated

  559. with Jesus. When he says this, you want to follow me,

  560. pick up your cross.

  561. Come on, I've been wrong about my path.

  562. I thought I knew God you do it this way,

  563. and you're gonna do it this way, and then you're

  564. gonna do it that way. And when it doesn't go

  565. the way I thought it, I think, Man, I don't

  566. know if this God's stuff. But I've been wrong about people.

  567. I've been wrong about my path, and there have been

  568. many times I had the wrong perspective.

  569. Because fear.

  570. Starts assigning meaning.

  571. To stuff.

  572. So fear, well have you saying, Oh, the reason they're

  573. not there, it's because you weren't enough. And if you

  574. were enough, your dad would have stayed. If you were

  575. good enough, you would have got promoted. But you're not

  576. good enough. Fear will have you making up stories before

  577. it's even happened. Fear will have you And I'm gonna

  578. say this, I'm not even being silly. I feel this

  579. as a real thing because I know some people that

  580. have done this and.

  581. That struggle with this.

  582. Fear will have you standing on the edge of commitment,

  583. making up stories about why you won't commit. Got somebody

  584. you love, won't marry them because you've already made up

  585. a story.

  586. I already know I'm gonna cheat on them, because every

  587. man in my family has cheated, so.

  588. At least it's not as bad if we don't get married,

  589. at least it's not so. I have you ready to

  590. start a business, ready to do something, but already tense

  591. up ahead if it'll probably work for a little bit,

  592. and then it'll go sideways and I'll be back here

  593. and I have to come back and all this stuff. No, no, no, friend, fear,

  594. What have you certain about? Stuff that you don't know

  595. at all? Obsessed with stuff you can't control, and cost

  596. you the very thing it's promising you, it's protecting. Joseph

  597. the end of his story, his brothers are there, he listen,

  598. We did you wrong, man, We're so sorry, We're so sorry.

  599. And his response.

  600. His proof of the spirit of God on the inside

  601. of him. Oh you weren't wrong.

  602. God was right.

  603. You meant for this to hurt me, You meant for

  604. this to break me, But God was making me.

  605. See what you don't realize is I had to deal

  606. with me when y'all threw me in that first time.

  607. I had to figure out who I was without that code.

  608. I had to figure out who I was if everybody.

  609. Didn't agree with me.

  610. And that pig gave me something that your praise could

  611. have never given me.

  612. So I thought it was wrong but.

  613. Thank goodness, I was wrong about my process because when

  614. you sold me, I had to find a love that

  615. didn't come from the people that were close to me.

  616. And when they lied on me and said I didn't

  617. do something that I know I didn't do, but they

  618. charged me anyway, I had to figure out that God

  619. is the judge and that God.

  620. Is the one who controls my life. So I was

  621. wrong about that situation.

  622. And then when I was in prison, I had to

  623. find out that I can still use my gift if

  624. nobody sees it. Because for a long time I thought

  625. my gift was only important if people clapped for my.

  626. Gift was only important if they cheered for me. But

  627. I found out in that prison that I can work

  628. this gift no matter where I am. I was wrong

  629. about that situation.

  630. And I almost got it wrong when they put me

  631. over everybody, because I thought status meant I was all

  632. the way in purpose. But I was wrong. I realized

  633. God didn't put me here but for one reason. Scircier said,

  634. so many lives could be saved. All I want to

  635. say today is whatever story fear has made you certain about,

  636. I don't know what it is.

  637. Some of you feel.

  638. Certain like, I don't know if that kid's ever gonna

  639. come home. You've been praying so long, you're certain that

  640. it's just too too much. Some of you are.

  641. Certain that you'll always be single. You're certain that the

  642. business isn't gonna work.

  643. You're shirt And all I'm saying is, you don't know

  644. that yet.

  645. You don't know. You don't know what God might do.

  646. You don't know what he's planning, You don't know how

  647. he's working. And be careful of the story your.

  648. Religion makes you certain of, because you.

  649. Don't know something that people were certain about.

  650. People were certain that nothing good could come out of Nazareth.

  651. People were certain that Mary's boy was just a boy.

  652. People were certain that.

  653. You couldn't do anything with people who had leprosy, so

  654. you had to throw them out.

  655. They were certain.

  656. About this thirty three year old man that he was

  657. causing a rebellion and he deserved to die.

  658. But there's one picture I love.

  659. The scripture tells us that Jesus up on the cross

  660. and he's in between two thieves, and they deserve to

  661. be up there. But this is the holy, merciful, gracious, kind, omnipotent,

  662. omniscient creator, of the universe, who has done nothing wrong,

  663. purest snow never an ill thought in his spirit. Only

  664. intention is to love, to.

  665. Give, to help you figure out how to be you.

  666. And the people he made pended him to a tree

  667. because they were certain he's say who we've been waiting for,

  668. Because the king we've been waiting for is gonna overthrow

  669. wrong the king we've been waiting for, it's gonna come

  670. back with raging war. And they didn't know he was

  671. raging war. But it wasn't on the external. It was

  672. on the internal. He was raging war on depression. He

  673. was raging war on our lack of righteousness. And they

  674. were certain they.

  675. Knew who he was.

  676. And the scripture tells us there's two different tracks of

  677. this story.

  678. In scripture, there's two different people. That's one story that

  679. I love. But the thieves that are on the cross,

  680. and one of them is standing there and he's on

  681. the cross and he looks over and I think he

  682. starts to look around and think, I think we're wrong.

  683. I don't know. It's beautiful because Jesus doesn't.

  684. Say nothing, but just when you get around Jesus, you

  685. can just feel this is why your life is so important.

  686. Now what you say, how you live, how you live

  687. and work.

  688. Now, what you say, now, what.

  689. You post, now, what you project, talk about how.

  690. You live, because if the spirit of.

  691. God is up on the inside of you, people will

  692. be sitting there in they're seeing.

  693. Talk about it. I think I got this wrong. I

  694. don't know.

  695. I don't know, because they going through what I'm going through,

  696. but they're not going through it.

  697. How I'm going through it. I think I think I

  698. got this wrong.

  699. I don't know that their marriage looks different than ours.

  700. I think I think I got this wrong.

  701. And there's a thief on the cross, and he says, hey,

  702. I think I think I got it wrong.

  703. You think you can remember me?

  704. And there's another one that I love. It's a Roman

  705. soldier who probably helped nail his hands to that tree.

  706. And the scripture says, most see if I can find it,

  707. just give.

  708. Me a moment.

  709. He says in Matthew be sitting there, says this at noon,

  710. darkness fell across the whole land. You already know I

  711. can't see y'all see how close I was. Y'all say

  712. that look at that. Some bystanders misunderstood and thought he

  713. was calling for Elijah, and one of them ran and

  714. filled the sponge with sour wine, holding it up to him,

  715. but the rest said, wait, let's see if Elijah comes.

  716. Then Jesus shouted out again, and he released his spirit,

  717. and at that moment the curtain and the sanctuary of

  718. the temple was torn into not from the bottom to

  719. the top, because if it was from the bottom to

  720. the top.

  721. A man could have torn it.

  722. But the scripture says that from the top to the bottom,

  723. and the earth shook, and rocks split apart, and tombs

  724. opened up, and the bodies of many godly women and

  725. men who had died were raised from the dead, and

  726. they walked out of cemeteries after Jesus' resurrection, and they

  727. walked into Jerusalem and appeared to many people. Then the

  728. Roman officer and the other soldiers at the crucifixion were terrified,

  729. and they said, this man truly was the son of God.

  730. I just want to say it's okay to be wrong.

  731. We spent a lot of our life trying to be

  732. right and clinging to everything that makes us feel like

  733. we're more right. That's why you gotta be careful of

  734. what you're listening to. On social media, Be careful about

  735. the stories they tell you about why people are doing

  736. certain stuff.

  737. Find out for yourself.

  738. Don't believe somebody else's story, Go get your own story.

  739. Well you know those type of people? Do you know

  740. any of those type of people? Because I probably know

  741. some of those type of people that you think are

  742. those type of people. And I promise you them type

  743. of people. Ain't them type of people? That your type

  744. of people? Because we all we type of people.

  745. I'm gonna pray.

  746. That wherever.

  747. Fear has told you a story specifically about your future,

  748. some of you there are decisions, opportunities, a life ahead

  749. of you that fear is currently telling you it's certain

  750. that can't happen, and it's just not true. I want

  751. to pray today that wherever you would have been wrong,

  752. you'd experience this. The Bible says that he who knew

  753. no sin became sin so that we could become the righteousness.

  754. Of Christ.

  755. Because God can give you the right people, He can

  756. put you on the right pass, and he can give

  757. you the right perspective.

  758. Would you pray with me, Lord.

  759. God, we thank you for who you are. That you're

  760. a right now God, So right now I pray for

  761. anybody who feels like fear has told them a story

  762. of what will happen and what won't happen. I thank

  763. you that you would redeem that story right now in

  764. the name of Jesus, that peace, peace that we can't understand,

  765. would enter into our hearts. And I pray right now

  766. for a super natural boldness, a boldness to live with courage,

  767. a boldness to step out and trust you, a boldness

  768. to live a life. Lord, God that we could only

  769. dream of. Forgive us where we've been wrong, wrong about people,

  770. wrong about plans.

  771. Wrong about perspectives.

  772. God, would you forgive us give us your eyes to

  773. see every doubt, every eye close.

  774. Maybe you're in here.

  775. And maybe you're starting to feel and find out that

  776. maybe you've been wrong about Jesus. Maybe you've been wrong

  777. about God. Maybe you thought God was mad at you.

  778. Maybe you thought God was waiting for you to be perfect.

  779. Maybe you thought God that was sitting there with his

  780. finger pointed you mad and waiting for you to prove it.

  781. And then he'll love you. No, friend, you're wrong about him.

  782. He loves you no matter what you've done.

  783. He loves you no matter where you've been.

  784. He loves you, no matter what people have said, and

  785. with his arms open wide waiting for his child to

  786. come home. And if you're in here or watching online

  787. and you feel like, man, I've been wrong about Jesus.

  788. Today you can become right about Jesus. And it starts

  789. with admitting I can't do this by myself.

  790. I need help.

  791. And in just a moment, I'm about to pray. And

  792. if you want to accept Jesus into your life. Before

  793. we pray, I'm gonna ask you, on account of three,

  794. to lift your hand.

  795. And it's you saying I want to get this right.

  796. You ain't got to worry about anybody else, ain't got

  797. to worry about what other people will think. This is

  798. your moment.

  799. To accept Jesus as your Lord and savior.

  800. One.

  801. He loves you.

  802. Two. Today is the day of salvation.

  803. Three right now in this room, lift your hand if

  804. you want to accept Jesus. So proud of you. I

  805. got your sister, so proud of you, so proud of you.

  806. I got you, I got you up there. I see you, man,

  807. So proud of you.

  808. Everybody out loud together, everybody repeat this prayer with me.

  809. Everybody say dear God, I admit I've gotten it wrong.

  810. I need you. I pray you would change my heart,

  811. forgive me and my sin us, make me brand new.

  812. It's in Jesus same I pray, Amen and amen. Can

  813. we celebrate people who just accepted Jesus.

  814. Standing all over this room. We're about to get out

  815. of here.

  817. your hand or prayed that prayer, let us know.

  823. we love you so much. I would encourage you to

  824. join us next week. I'm gonna pray for your week.

  825. If you need prayer for anything, our prayer team in

  826. the back would love to meet you.

  827. But got to thank you for this week. I pray

  828. that we would have.

  830. and full of your favor. Thank you, Lord Jesus, that

  831. you are with us. You will lead us, and you
