I want to say what's up to all the campuses.

A lot of people in overflow get up earlier.

You got double overflow, or you hit the snooze button twice.

But I'm I'm glad you're here.

Frisco, listen, I want you guys to know every single campus, all of the pastors, all the guys who are there right now are an extension of me.

Like we're really close, we're really good.

Like we hang out.

Um, in Frisco, you got Jelani.

We was just hanging out the other day, played basketball.

I think I got a picture of us playing basketball, actually.

Um, yeah, so and then Marcus and Stokes over at Norfits and Hills and North Fort Worth and Grand Prairie, hang out with them cats like all the time.

We were just having some bonding time last week.

So, um yeah, so that was fun, man.

And then people don't know, but Mark Job is the pastor at one at the campus as well, and he's his daughter's Carrie Job.

And I'm actually the one who told him that uh she should sing and stuff, you know, because before he had different plans, which was weird.

Um I was like, I think she should sing, and he was like, okay, and then we did it from there.

So every single campus, I want you to know that I'm with you, like for real.

Like I'm I'm with you.

In fact, if everyone, if all of us is saying, if we could just raise our hand, if everybody could raise their hand at even here too, uh South Lake.

Cool, cool, cool, Grandparry.

Come on, put the hand up, put it up.

Not in the raise the roof way.

Black people no longer do that.

I just want to point that out.

Um cool, see, I saw your hand, so thanks.

I just want you to know, like I see you for real, like I can see you.

Well, not me, but God can see you.

So there's a the the fact that everybody came today is really cool.

There's a saying that I like to say that goes along with your choice to come to church today.

Um, if you buy a man a fish, he'll eat for a day.

But if you teach him how to fish, then you gotta buy him some bait, some tackle, a fishing pole.

You gotta drive him back and forth to the lake.

Just buy that dude a fish sandwich, okay?

But if you show him his reason to fish, he'll figure it out himself.

Got a little deep.

I know, I know.

I'm excited.

My wife is on a prayer team, which means once in a while I get to be on a prayer team as well.

So I was one of my first times on the prayer team, and uh this guy came down for prayer, and I was like, yo, what you want to pray about?

I didn't say it like that, that's unprofessional.

And he said, he said he wanted to pray.

He said a phrase I'd never heard before.

He said to me, unspoken.

Have you ever heard that phrase before?

I didn't know what to do.

I was like, um, okay, uh Lord, I just thank you for forgiving this man for this unspeakable thing he's done, Lord.

Um I hope it's not contagious, Lord.

Uh I don't know what to do with that stuff, man.

Some people are too concerned with being politically correct.

I never concern myself with that.

I'm at I'm at the coffee shop, right?

And this white guy is in front of me in line.

He orders a coffee.

The lady's like, how do you want it?

He looks back at me and he's like, um, African American.

I was like, cool, let me uh let me get the Caucasian mocha.

Cool, that'd be cool with me.

You know what I'm saying?

I just I love working out.

I think working out is important.

Uh I was at the gym the other month and um I was working out.

One of the first things I noticed is the door seems to get heavier and heavier every time I go to the gym.

Um, and they moved the cardio stuff to the third floor.

I'm not climbing all them steps to go up there, man.

You tripping.

And this lady recognized me at the gym.

She's like, oh my goodness, Michael Jr.

And then she started going, Oh, I love your comedy, it's so funny, it's hilarious.

Every time I watch you, I laugh my butt off.

And I looked at her, I was like, um, keep laughing, you know.

I love looking at those little words like that.

That stuff is so much fun.

I have a friend of mine, they're in an interracial, I got a bunch of friends who are interracial couples, and I like to ask questions like, so when you first started liking someone of a different nationality, uh, is it safe to say you were having mixed feelings?

Is that safe?

Is that where people will ask me questions, they'll say stuff like, Michael Jr., where are you from originally?

I'm like, originally?

Huh.

Well, uh, I was conceived in Michigan.

Um before that, I was with my dad.

Uh and then there was a swim competition.

And I won, which is crazy.

Black people don't even like to swim.

I don't know.

I don't even know.

I don't know.

That's why we're a minority, probably.

I'm just guessing.

I just added that part.

That was awesome.

I just noticed weird stuff like that that happens, and if I don't notice it, I just make it up, like this next thing.

Um I actually I I met a family from Africa who came to America uh to adopt a white kid.

So um.

Her name was Emily, and uh they changed it to Ubuntu.

And uh and they don't know how to do her hair.

It's crazy.

I don't understand what I got this neighbor who has a really she has a what I call an opinion name.

You ever know somebody has an opinion name?

Like it's a name, but it's also an opinion.

She's like, hey, I just want to introduce myself.

Uh I'm precious.

Okay, if you say so.

Some names just don't match people, they just don't.

I know a stingy lady named Sharon.

When I was in middle school, I got beat up by an angel.

In fact, his friend got in on the fight, and his name was Jesus.

I was like, man, I'm bleeding.

Is this what they mean by the blood of Jesus?

I don't understand what just happened.

I just made that part up right there.

So my neighbor will always invite us over to eat.

Here's the thing I'm cool with the neighborly thing, invite somebody over to eat, but you should find out for sure if you could cook first.

Cause she can't, she like, I'm not being mean, like, she don't know how to cook.

Like, if there's bones in your lasagna, you probably did something wrong.

Every time she tries to invite us, I'm looking at her, and in the backdrop is her husband, like, you don't gotta come, dude.

So we go over her house, eat some food, and I should have known because I get ready to pray over my food, and I hear her son whisper in my ear, that's not gonna help.

I am so excited that Pastor Robert allows me to be a part of this series.

Oh, there's actually two scriptures that I want to refer to.

There's two scriptures, I forgot about them.

I think we got them, yeah, Jeremiah 1.5 and Jeremiah 29.11.

Um, I don't know how they apply exactly, but write them down and then uh, you know, tweet me and let me know what you figured out.

That'd be cool.

So I am, I'm really, really blessed.

And you those those scriptures actually do apply.

You just read them later.

So the the series is called How Do I Know?

And a lot of times when people hear the phrase, how do I know, the next thing they say is what?

How do I know what?

But the key really isn't to know what, the key is to know why.

Because when you know your why, you have options on what your what can be.

For instance, my why is to inspire people to walk in purpose.

My what is stand-up comedy, my what is writing books, my what can be going out with some friends to eat.

In fact, another what that is moving me towards my why is uh a web series that we have out now called Breaktime.

So every Wednesday at 3 o'clock, you should subscribe to the to the channel.

Uh we do a series called Breaktime on YouTube.

So at 3 o'clock, we drop a new episode.

One episode in particular, I'm about to show you a clip to.

We were in uh we were in Winston, Salem.

So break time, this is how it works.

I travel the country, I do stand-up comedy, probably an hour, hour and a half at an event.

And in the middle of my show, I'll just sit down and start talking to the audience.

And funny just happens.

Or I'll meet somebody who's really interesting.

So I met this one guy, and he said that he teaches music at a school.

I was like, all right, you teach music, you know.

Um, can you sing?

And then uh I'm just gonna show you the clip.

All right, so um let me get a couple, let me get a couple bars of like uh amazing grace.

Can you do the first part of that?

Go ahead.

How sweet of sound that save like me.

That brought a sing.

You know what I'm saying?

All right, all right.

Now, what you give me the version is if uh your uncle just got out of jail, you got shot in the back when you was a kid.

I'm just saying, let me see the hood version real quick if you know which version I'm talking about.

Just see if that exists.

Let me see what you got.

The second time I asked him to sing, he knew why he was doing it.

When you know your why, your what has more impact because you're walking in or towards your purpose.

So uh I'm doing new sports now.

I'm hanging out, I'm doing more sports.

Because growing up in the hood, only thing we ever played was water polo and stuff, man.

So uh, yeah, that's not true at all.

Um so I'm starting to do stuff like I you know, I've I went ball hunting recently.

Uh some people call it golf or whatever.

Uh first of all, it took all day, and my friends lied to get me to go.

They was like, yo, the greens are awesome.

I was like, cool, man.

I showed up with some cornbread.

I was like, cool, man, greens and stuff.

You're not supposed to, oh, my back.

And then I remember my coaches from high school used to always say stuff like, uh, every coach says this.

They say, Listen, the stuff I'm teaching you here is not just about this game.

You can apply it to life.

You ever hear that before?

It's not true at all.

Straight out of high school, I got a job.

I was parking cars.

One of the cars was really nice.

I took it for a little spin.

The company found out my boss lost the account.

He was yelling at me, screaming.

I didn't know what to say or do.

I thought back to my high school football coach.

I looked at my boss, I was like, you know what, man?

You win some, you lose some, man.

You can't let this one loss get you down.

The important thing is I went out there and I had fun.

And I got fired right after that.

People always they'll ask me questions like, where's your favorite place to go?

Listen, I love hanging out with my family.

Like, my favorite place to go is home.

Like, I love it.

My family is here, they're amazing.

I love them so much.

We went to Mexico recently.

We went to Mexico and um we went there for a week.

The first two days were a little rough because people there kept calling me a Negro.

And on the third day, I realized they were saying amigo.

So it was all cool.

I didn't know.

I didn't know at first, so my daughter, my kids want a dog.

They've been wanting a dog forever.

And I my concern has been that they would start to love the dog because some people love dogs.

And growing up, we didn't love a dog, we just had a dog.

We just had a dog, it was a dog, like it was really a community dog.

Like, whoever's gonna feed him, you just go over there next.

This was our whole relationship with our dog, right?

We had a dog, took him to the vet, got the bill, left him there.

Never saw that dog again.

And some people ludger dogs, and I think it's cool if you let a dog, as long as you know the dog doesn't love you back.

I know it hurts a little.

I had a lady stand in line for 30 minutes in an autograph line, so she could come up and tell me that her dog loves her.

In fact, she had proof.

She had a newspaper article, and she was like, see, look at this story.

And she explained to me how she fell asleep and the house caught on fire.

And the dog would not leave her side.

It kept barking and barking and barking till finally she woke up, opened the door, and it got out.

I was like, that's an amazing story.

I'm just saying, I think the story would be a little different if the dog knew how to turn her doorknob.

Never put that doggy door in, did you?

Yeah, yeah.

Procrastination saved your life.

That's what happened.

My youngest daughter, she had a hamster.

Um, I say had a hamster, because uh we were in the backyard playing, and um a hawk or something just swoosh, and I was like, oh, snap.

She's like, Dad, where did Mr.

Jacobs go?

Um he he went hang gliding.

That's where he went.

She's like, when we gonna see him again?

Uh we'll probably go, we're gonna meet him at the pet store.

We're gonna meet him there.

He might look a little different when we see him, though.

One thing I love to do is I love giving.

Like hang out with Pastor Robert, you learn a lot about giving.

But here's the thing.

I've I've kind of honed it into a bit where I don't just like to give, just to give.

I like to give when literally when God says give.

I'm not talking about tithe, that's automatic.

That's not even giving, that's return it.

I love to like give, like it's fun, but I want to do it when I should do it.

So I'm at Starbucks, probably, I don't know, like two months ago, I'm at Starbucks.

And uh the car in front of me pays for my Starbucks.

So what I did was I did a little prayer, heard nothing, pulled off with some free Starbucks.

The next week, for real, I'm with my son in a car.

The next week we're in the car and it happens again.

The car in front of me pays for my Starbucks.

The dude in the drive-thru is like, you're the 23rd car in a row, people are paying for each other's Starbucks.

I was like, for real?

Wow.

Pulled off with some free Starbucks.

Listen, somebody got to receive, okay?

Um here's the thing, as I started thinking about it later, I talked to some friends about it.

And if you think about it, you could argue that the only person who really gave was the person in the front.

Maybe everyone else just had a hard time receiving.

And you were planning to spend money anyway.

So when I I love to give and I love to give people opportunities to give, and uh, listen, we're not about to pass the bucket, calm down.

People online like I'm about to click, right?

No.

When you leave here, you're gonna see, you're gonna have a great opportunity to give.

So you're gonna see I got some merchandise available.

There should be right behind me.

Um with all the proceeds, all the proceeds from merchandise is going to uh to help a black family in America.

I just want to throw that out there real quick.

No, so what we do at our merchandise table, God gave me a phrase, and what we do is called communosity.

Community generosity.

This is how it works.

You can buy whatever you want, that's great.

The tables are outside at all the locations, you can buy whatever you want.

If for any reason you can't afford something at our table, what we ask you to do is walk up to the table, ask for what you want, and we give it to you.

Like for real.

If you have the means, what we ask you to do is buy what you want and then buy some more and leave it there for someone else.

It's called communosity.

Community generosity.

Now listen, I really mean this because there's people in here, there's people watching right now, you have a hard time receiving.

And this is a great opportunity for you to break through that and just receive.

There's also people who have money, you got resources, but you have a hard time receiving as well.

So, what I want you to do is walk up to the table, leave your money in your pocket.

And I want you to ask for an item and let us give it to you.

Because if you can't receive from me and the people around you, how can you receive from a God you can't see?

Because he's gonna use people like me and the people around you.

You have to be able to receive.

You don't understand how good it is to give if you can't receive.

Like for real.

So, oh, this is the cool part about what's gonna happen when you leave here.

There'll be a merchandise table out there, and you can receive, or you can give, or you could just walk by the table.

Either way, you get to deal with that when you get to the car.

There's this one lady last time I was here, as a matter of fact, she was this lady was blinged out, like she was the guy, blah, and all kind of money.

She was at the table struggling.

Like she was walking around a circle, she was like, oh, like she was struggling.

And she went up there and she actually bought a bunch of merchandise and left it there for other people, and then she was ready to go.

And then God was like, nope, go get something.

And she was struggling, walking around in circles and struggling and trying to bring me in on it.

Can I talk to you for a second?

Like, it was like, hey, I think I uh uh uh I was like, you should work that out.

Peace.

The reason I do that, the reason I do communosity is because I understand my why.

My my what, some people would think my what is so normally, so you can make a bunch of money at a merchandise table.

That's my why has nothing to do with making a bunch of money.

My why is about inspiring people to walk in purpose.

And if I give you an opportunity to give and to receive, I know that that's gonna move you closer to understanding your purpose because your gift is about giving and receiving, so you can give even more.

So the reason I do that is simply because I understand my why, and now I know my what, but none of that matters if you don't know who.

Because who is the one that gave you the why so you can do what you're supposed to do.

So not too long ago, me and my amazing wife we were looking through, and I think all the kids were sitting around, we were looking through some old home video footage, and we found some footage of my youngest daughter uh actually being born.

It's hilarious because she's here, and I was like, hey, you want to come see me in the big sanctuary?

No.

I mean, but I'm here, or you want to go to the kids' church?

She's like, bye, dad, I love you.

And she went to the kids' church.

So it's it's it's footage from the delivery room, and she is about three minutes old.

And I've never, I had never looked at this footage from this perspective before.

I was there, I actually made the video, but I had never seen it from this perspective before.

So what I want you to pay attention to when I show you this clip is she's in a room, she's all slippery, she's like three minutes old.

And um she starts to cry.

And as she starts to cry, I decide I'm going to talk to her.

And I want you to pay attention to what happens when she recognizes, when she hears my voice.

I'm right here.

We're doing just fine.

It's okay.

It's okay.

I'm right here.

Right here.

Yeah, it's okay.

It's okay, baby.

So then it's like roughly uh five minutes or so later.

Uh I stop talking and the nurse is cleaning her up, getting her all unslippery and stuff, and um she starts to cry some more.

And then I speak up.

She hears my voice and she stops crying again.

But what I want you to catch is I want you to notice how she responds when I tell her I love her.

It's okay.

It's okay, it's good, it's good, it's good.

I'm right here, I'm right here.

I am right here.

I love you, I love you, I love you.

Yeah, I'm right here, I'm right here.

It's okay, it's okay.

Here's the thing.

If you know your what, if you know your why, the key is still to know your who.

Because there are gonna be times where life gets hard, it gets rough, almost to the point of tears.

And what you have to do in those moments is be still and listen for the father's voice.

Because he is trying to talk to you, and what he wants you to know is that he loves you.

He's right here.

You just have to open your eyes.

So, what I'm gonna do right now is uh I'm gonna tell you this story, right?

And uh yeah, yeah, not yet, bruh, okay?

Yeah, yeah.

It's not your concert, okay?

It's not your concert, it's not your concert.

Um I gotta set the story up, then I'm gonna start the story, then you can come in really cool, as if nobody will notice you in the moment, okay?

So I was upright in this joke.

I asked God, because I I I tell this story sometimes, and I asked guys, like, is there another story you want me to tell at the end?

He was like, No.

So I uh I was upright in this joke, and uh, we got we got five kids, so I used to have to wake up really early because the kid, when you got five kids, it's a lot of work.

Like, you'll forget one of them sometime.

Like, oh snap, I left one in the car, and it's it's really hot outside.

Like, whatever, you're like 17 years old, man.

Get out the car.

Anyway.

So I was up writing this joke and uh about the good room.

Anyone in here know how many people know what the good room is?

See, very few people know what the good room is because um I never finished writing a joke.

And whenever you write a joke, you want to name it so people can be on the same page.

But the truth is, is mostly everyone at all the campuses in here, you know what the good room is.

The good room is that room in your grandmother's house, or your aunt's house, or your or maybe your house.

It's that room that's better than the rest of the house.

Can't nobody go in there.

Sometimes it's plastic on the furniture.

It's really just for looks.

How many people know what the good room is now?

Cool, cool.

So I was writing a joke about the good room, and in the middle of writing this joke, literally, in the middle of writing this joke, God stops me and tells me to tell this story to his people.

So I never finished writing a joke.

Instead, I'm gonna tell you the story, and it's a story is about how you can open your eyes, hear the father's voice.

So he can tell you your why, so you can do what you're supposed to do.

So I want everyone who's watching, every single campus, I'm literally talking to you.

I want everyone in here, I want you to imagine that you are a house.

Okay?

Um, anytime now, bro, it'd be a great time to start playing.

I just want to throw that out there.

Yeah, yeah.

Didn't mean to interrupt you.

Okay.

So I want you to imagine that you are a house.

And uh outside of the house is Jesus Christ.

And he wants to come in, but he'll never force his way in.

He actually wants you to invite him in.

And the reason, some people, the reason you haven't invited Jesus into your house is because you're cool with the way things are currently.

Whenever you need something, you just walk up to the door, crack it open, say a little prayer, close the door, and go back into the house.

But that's not a relationship at all.

How can you hear his voice under that circumstance?

And the reason you won't let him into the house is because you think you need to clean it up first.

Your house is a mess.

How's that working out for you?

Or you've brought other things into the house.

You're buying a bunch of stuff, or maybe drugs or pornography.

Or you've brought other people, relationships into the house, hoping that maybe they could help you clean it up.

But they can't.

The only one who can clean it up is standing outside the door wearing an apron with a bucket in his hand, waiting on you to open the door.

Then there's other people in here right now.

You used to have Jesus in the whole house, but for some reason or another, whether you realize it or not, and I'm talking to you in overflow as well, whether you realize it or not, you've tried to move him.

In fact, you've you've pushed him to just one room in the house.

The good room.

Have you ever noticed how the good room, most of the time, is the one right up front with the big window.

So when people look in, they think the whole house is clean.

But it's not, it's just that one room.

So when they hear about you going to church once in a while, they think the whole house is clean.

But you know it's just that one room.

You quote scriptures, you're a nice person.

You gave money to the church once, but it's just that one room.

Jesus wants access to the whole house so you can hear his voice, so you can know that he loves you, so you can know that he's here.

And I'm telling you, if you'll open his door, not only will he clean the house, but he'll show up at a contractor named the Holy Spirit.

And they will make sure the house is fully functioning the way it was intended to.

But none of this happens if you don't open the door.

Because he will never, he will never force his way in.

He wants you to invite a man.

He wants you to hear his voice.

Open your eyes.

Open the door.

So if everyone in here, if everyone in here could just close, if you could just bow your head and close your eyes.

I used to wonder why do they have you do this in church?

The reason they have you do this is so you can have a private moment.

There's no one looking around right now.

I'm talking to everyone, even those in overflow.

I've I've sat in overflow before.

Believe me when I tell you, I am talking to you.

If you're in here, you need to invite Jesus into your house, whether it be for the first time or to give him full access to the entire house once again.

I ask you to do something really simple.

On a count of three, I just simply want you to put your hand in the air.

I don't want you to overthink this.

I don't even want you to think about it.

If you know I'm talking to you on a count of three, just put your hand in the air.

One, two, three.

Nice and high.

Nice and high.

Okay, go ahead and put your hands down.

And then look up at me.

I am extremely proud of you guys.

So there's something else I need you to do.

This is extremely important.

Jesus says this.

He says, if you will take a stand for me before men, I will take a stand before for you before my father in heaven.

So what this is gonna look like here on earth is all of those who raise their hand, and even those who should have raised their hand, and you know you should have.

On the count of three, I'm going to want you to stand to your feet, make your way out into the aisle, and come forward so we can pray together.

I'm speaking to all of those people at the top.

I'm speaking to you in the overflow.

I want you to make your way forward on the count of three.

This is extremely important because if you can't do it in here where we're proud of you, you won't be able to do it out there.

And you have to be able to hear the Father's voice so you can understand why you're here.

He loves you, he has a purse, a purpose for you.

So again, on the count of three, everyone who raised their hand, and all those who should have raised their hand, I'm gonna want you to stand to your feet and come forward so we can pray.

And to help with that, everyone else is going to stand up and applaud as loud as they can, but it will not compare to the applause that the angels in heaven will be doing when you stand to your feet and come forward.

What good father doesn't want to hear his children's laughter in his house?

Like, he wants you to laugh.

You who thought, well, it's too late.

It's not.

All you gotta do is unbend your knees and then make your way through the, and then you just it's like a the letter L.

And what's extremely important is that after we're done praying, that you follow the instructions because they're gonna have you go to a room and give you some more information.
