Alright, we're gonna have some fun.

I'm excited to be here.

We're gonna laugh and stuff and have fun.

And we're all campuses.

Yo, what's up?

So here's the thing.

I hear I know that every single campus is currently in overflow.

So if you're in overflow and you don't know what that means, that means you in that other room because you got up a little later and everybody else.

Here's what I want you to know though.

Uh a while ago, God woke up some guy, or maybe he woke up this guy and he told him to go to work.

And what that guy did when he went to work, he was bending a piece of metal or cutting a piece of wood so the chair that you're sitting in could be made.

And now you're sitting in that chair that God told that guy to wake up right where you should be right now.

So please understand it.

Like you're supposed to be right where you are, and God is probably gonna speak to you, even if you gotta use a comedian.

So I'm here, I'm with you.

If everybody could just raise up their left hand and wave it so I could tell every campus tube, yeah, yeah, yeah.

The left hand do, left hand do.

Okay, cool, cool.

So we're gonna have some fun.

So this series is called Inside Story.

My inside story, so I'm gonna give you some of my inside story.

Some of you guys kind of know this already, some of it, but I'm gonna share some new stuff with you as well.

So I'm gonna start at seven years old.

My grandmother, she used to force me to go to church.

I'm talking about force me to go because church was miserable and my clothes didn't fit.

They was too tight.

My shoes were like three sizes too small, but my grandmother had this thing called a shoehorn, which means if your foot don't fit, now it does.

And church would last six hours.

Then we'd go in the basement and eat a sandwich and come back up.

I'm like, was that halftime or something?

I didn't understand what was going on.

This is church from a seven-year-old perspective.

First of all, laughing at church was illegal.

I remember one time laughing, this lady was jumping around and her wig fell off.

This stuff was hysterical.

I laughed, my grandmother would pinch and twist.

I can understand a pinch.

You gonna twist?

That's the devil right there.

Church was miserable.

I go to this church, and this dude was up on stage, and from my perspective, he was angry at everybody.

And I figured out why he was mad.

He was mad because he had some phlegm caught in his throat.

Because at the end of every sentence, he would always try to get it out.

He'd be like, the Lord said, Act like you're I'm like, Grandma, he needs to gargoyle or something, Grandma.

And the dude had a Bible in his hand and he kept playing like he was gonna throw it at everybody.

And people would get scared.

They'd be like, hey man, hey, man.

I realize now they were saying, Amen.

I didn't know, bruh.

I was seven years old.

One time I go to church, it's a dead body in the front.

Nobody explains to a seven-year-old Michael Jr.

it's the funeral.

It's not church.

I'm thinking, yo, that's how they roll.

Like every few weeks or so, they bring a dead body in as an example or something.

And the dude on stage will yell at us like we did it.

I remember I asked my grandma, I was like, Grandma, what happened to the man in the box?

What happened to the man in the box?

Her whole explanation was, he in a better place.

I'm like, what kind of box did he live in before?

Church was miserable.

So there's two scriptures that I'm gonna tie into this whole thing we're gonna do today.

One of the uh the scriptures I dug deep for one, really deep.

I didn't want to do this, like I dug deep.

I was gonna read something out of the um table of contents, but I actually went deeper than that.

Um John 3.16.

Know if you've heard of this before.

But John 3.16 basically says that God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son so that we could have eternal life.

My question to you is can you receive?

So when I was a kid, I used to have a hard time reading.

Part of my story is I would struggle with my reading.

Like I like sounding words alphabetically, it just didn't work.

I refined now like the signs over the door that say excite.

I can read that stuff.

My teachers, like, I would look at words, they would get mixed around.

They try to tell me I was less distinct, which is crazy.

I ain't um take your time, man.

You gotta work on that.

So I would struggle with my reading, and I remember my uncle would try to make me feel better.

He would try to make me feel better, he'd be like, you know what?

Don't worry about it, nephew.

We math people.

You probably gonna be a math genius like me.

You got at least a 40-40 chance.

That makes me feel better.

So now I'm always skeptical with anything that has to do with math.

Like to this day, I don't drink 2% milk because I don't know what the rest of it is made out of.

And growing up, we didn't have any money.

Like, we had no money.

I was actually being sponsored by a family from Haiti.

That's a funny joke, man.

Some Christians don't know what to do with that joke.

You can't laugh and shake your head.

We wanted to do stuff when we were kids.

Like we wanted to, my dad wanted to take us to the zoo, but we couldn't afford to go to the zoo, so he took us anyway.

We would see the fish and we would see the reptiles and the bear cubs.

And when I got a little older, I realized we are at a pet store.

That is not a bear cub, it is a Rockeweiler puppy.

Then he took us to Cotton Candyland.

You ever go to Cotton Candyland?

Cotton Candyland is this place where all this cotton candy is at, but it's really hot there?

Yeah, it turns out it was our attic.

Yeah, we were just walking around in the attic.

This is awesome, dad.

So I get opportunities.

You know, I do comedy at, you know, I do comedy all over the place, but we also go to homeless shelters and prisons.

The Bible says laughter is good like a medicine.

God said to me, take it to the sick.

So we go to homeless shoulders and prisons.

So G3 Ministries here uh contacted me and said, Hey, would you like to go to a prison with us?

So I went to this prison with them.

And I'm gonna show you this video clip just to illustrate how comedy literally follows me.

I believe when you're walking your purpose and trying to do what God says to do, he opens up doors.

So I don't really work that hard to find comedy.

I work hard to develop it, but it just kind of follows me.

So we're at this prison, and after the prison, after we do the show for the prisoners, I interview some of the prisoners.

Kind of like Man on the Street, but we're in prison, so I call this clip Man Off the Street.

I think he's the best show I saw since uh eight and a half years.

How long have you been here?

I've been here about seven months.

Uh I've been locked up for two years.

Uh 15 months.

You got your name on your city.

Offender.

Okay, cool.

Um, what do you think about today?

Oh, love gracias a Dios, but the calmido.

Um straight nosotros.

He said he got a finger with tongues today, too, the Holy Spirit.

So that is awesome, man.

Oh, snap, it's at the bars.

I didn't even notice that.

Did you ever say, hey, I'm like one of them have these glow teeth?

Yeah, yeah, actually when I get it, but I'm gonna give me the Hollywood Hollywood smile.

What's that?

Um vanilla.

Vanilla teeth all white.

Cool, that's what you had first, though, brother.

That's what I'm having first, but I'ma get it back, man.

I'm a black mole remover.

I'm gonna move black mold.

Can't you just say I'm a mole remover?

We know you're black.

You got some ink on your chest.

You got some ink.

What does it say?

This is uh man, you ain't got a touch of the stuff while you talking to me, man.

Are you rubbing on your chest while you talking to me, man?

Um wise man knows how to defeat issues without raising hand.

He who does this for my favorite night in anything that he does.

What you in for?

Comedy follows me.

So why would I go do a comedy show at that prison at that time?

Well, the reason I went is because I felt like that's where I was supposed to be.

I so I gave my time because that's where I felt like I should be at that time.

When I give, I try to give when I feel like God is saying give.

Now, when I say give, I'm not talking about the tithe.

The tithe isn't giving, that's called not stealing.

I ain't talking about that.

So when I give, I like to give when God is saying give as opposed to just giving out of out of compulsion.

Ooh, this feels good.

Ooh, it's the right thing to do.

No, what is God saying in this moment?

Actually, there's a Bible verse that goes along with this really well.

It's uh, let me see if I can find it.

I'm gonna read it to you.

But I'm not just gonna read it, I'm gonna read it in a way where you could receive it very, very well and smooth when it goes down.

Let me see if I can find the Bible verses right here.

Okay, the seven.

Okay, I'm almost ready.

Alright, so I'm gonna read this in a way where it's really, really smooth.

In fact, you know what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna go ahead, I'm gonna do a Pastor Robert impression as I read uh 1 Samuel uh 15, 22.

So here we go.

But Samuel replied, What is more pleasing to the Lord?

Your burnt offerings and sacrifices, or your obedience to his voice?

Listen, obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams.

Obedience is better than sacrifice.

So let me show you how what this looks like for me.

Um I was at a I was at a Starbucks coffee spot and I'm in the drive-thru and the car in front of me pays for my coffee.

I was like, wow, that is awesome.

So you know what I did?

I did a little prayer.

I didn't hear anything, pulled off with some free Starbucks.

Two weeks later, I'm at the same Starbucks coffee and with my son.

I love hanging out with my son.

With my son, the car in front of me pays for my coffee, like for real.

I'm like, oh wow.

The dude in the drive-thru is excited.

He's like, you're the 23rd car in a row.

I was like, for real?

Wow.

Pulled off with some free Starbucks.

Here's the thing.

Is it possible that the only person who really gave was the person in the front?

Is it also possible that everyone else just had a hard time receiving?

Because here's the thing.

If you're going to buy yourself a coffee, first of all, anytime you give, there's a sacrifice.

You want to give someone a gift, you have to work for the money.

You paid for the gift, you gave it to them.

There's a sacrifice involved.

If you're going to buy yourself a coffee, and then you go there and someone bought you a coffee, so you say, hey, I'm gonna buy theirs, there's actually not any sacrifice.

And even if there is, obedience is better than sacrifice.

So I'm gonna I'm gonna give y'all an opportunity to work this out today.

It's gonna be so cool.

I'm gonna throw that out there real quick.

Um, did he say a black family in America?

Yes.

But let me tell you how we run our table.

We do this thing called communerosity, which means if you can't for any reason afford something at our table, we actually do is walk up to the table, ask for what you want, and we give it to you.

Like for real.

If you have the means, what we ask you to do is walk up to the table, buy what you want, and then buy some more and leave it there for someone else.

Communerosity.

Community, generosity.

Now listen, I really mean this, I really, really mean this.

Because I know there's people in here who don't have much and you have a hard time receiving.

Well, maybe the reason you don't have much is because you have a hard time receiving.

So I really want you to walk up to the table, ask, and receive.

But then there's people here right now, you're you're right there, you know who you are, and you got a lot of money.

You got resources, you got money.

But you have a hard time receiving as well.

So, what I want you to do is walk up to the table and leave your money in your pocket.

And I want you to ask for an item and let us give it to you.

Because if you can't receive from me and the people around you, how can you receive from a God you can't see?

Because he's gonna use people like me and the people around you.

You have to be able to receive.

In fact, to give and not receive is actually, in my opinion, a position of arrogance.

The best part about communal rosy is when you leave here today, you can buy something at the table, you can give, you can receive, or you can just walk by the table.

But chances are when you get to your car or when you get home, you get to work on that decision and you'll learn more about yourself as to why you made that decision and how that shows up all over the place.

I'm gonna do a joke, it got way deep real quick.

You ever hear somebody say the phrase?

I heard this phrase the other day.

They say something like, Boy, I wish I could have been a fly on the wall.

Every time I hear that, I walk up to that person and I say, and then what?

No, no, no, no.

You want to be a fly on the wall so you can hear the information that was in the room.

Guess what?

I did the research.

Flies don't have ears.

Yeah, yeah.

You would be just as ignorant as you currently are.

But you would be a fly.

Nobody listens to a fly.

And let's say you get the information somehow.

Let's say you're a fly that could read lips.

What are you gonna do with the information?

Plus, you got two days to live.

You're making bad choices.

I took my niece to build a bear.

You ever go to build a bear?

That thing was$67.

I put that bear back.

I went to Walmart, got a bear for$12, took it apart, gave it to her.

I was like, boom, build a bear, baby, build a bear.

I bought some Tom shoes recently.

I bought some Tom shoes.

Whenever you buy a pair of Tom shoes, another child in a needy country somewhere who didn't have shoes before, they get a pair for free, which was awesome, right?

But the times that I got, um, I didn't really like them.

So I needed to take them back to the store.

Um, I didn't know if I need to go to Africa first and get the other pair.

Is there a Tom Repo guy?

I don't know how this works, man.

I'm just saying.

So something else that happened.

I was at um I was at uh Baby's Chicken.

I'm at Baby's Chicken.

Just I just got some biscuits because their biscuits are delightful.

So I got some biscuits and I wanted some honey because I was gonna leave and they didn't have none.

So the dude goes to the back to get the honey.

Pastor Robert happens to call right there.

I'm not thinking.

He's like, hey, what are you up to?

I'm like, oh man, just waiting on a couple honeys, man.

Just you know, um, oh wait, hold on, hold on.

Nah, let me explain.

Let me explain.

I actually think the restaurant business would be a great business to start.

I'm thinking about starting one, actually.

Um, I'm opening up a restaurant in the north, probably gonna call it uh African American Barrel.

That's what I'm thinking about calling it.

This should be fun, actually.

So now I'm about to tell you this really cool story.

This story is so, this is like, man, this is so cool.

So, as I mentioned earlier, we met this uh, we heard about this family situation, right?

This is the story that's in the uh the small group curriculum we're creating.

Uh we met this family called the Richardson family.

Now, um I think we have a picture of them.

Actually, we have a picture.

This is the Richardson, it's such a cool looking family.

Zoom in on the little boy though.

Look at this.

Like, you're doing too much right now.

You're doing too much.

All right, so that's the Richardson family.

So we heard about their the family situation.

Let me break it down for you.

So they have five biological kids, and then they adopted two more kids, and then they were fostering five siblings, all under the age of seven.

That's a group of kids.

And then someone comes along and they want to adopt two of those five siblings, which means they would be split up.

So the Richardsons prayed, pulled their resources together.

They don't have their of I'm talking about limited resources.

They pray and they felt like God said to do this, so they adopted the other five kids.

So not long after this, their vehicle gets stolen.

I don't know how your vehicle gets stolen.

Anyway, so their vehicle gets stolen, and um, now they're down to one vehicle.

So literally, if they want to go someplace, church or wherever, they have to make two trips.

Drop some kids off with an older kid and come back and get like so.

This is what we find out about the story.

And I feel like God wants me to do something, but I don't know what, because he doesn't say I want you to buy him a vehicle.

So I meet with my family, we get together, we pray, we have a family meeting, and we're like, what are we gonna do?

What are we gonna do?

And then um, and we decide to do a comedy show fundraiser for the family.

But here's the thing if I do a comedy show fundraiser, technically, that's me buying them a vehicle.

Because if people buy tickets to a show, and if there's a show, they get what they want.

I take the money I would normally make, and I buy, uh, and that would be disobedience.

So we're praying, like, God, what do you want us to do?

So we did a comedy show fundraiser, but it was called the No Show Comedy Show.

So we sold like$50 tickets to a show, and we explained to people there ain't no show.

So you can get$50 seats, you can get VIP seats, but there's no show.

People were like, Well, where is it?

I was like, wherever you want it to be.

Well, what time do I need to be there?

Whenever you want to, I won't be there.

So we asked my fans to buy tickets at this show, and they bought tickets.

And I'm blown away.

One guy, I won't forget this dude.

This dude walks over the table, he buys a$50 ticket, and he's a little teary, he's a little choked up.

And I was like, wow, man, that's so awesome.

You know there's no show.

He's like, I know.

I noticed he had a ring on his finger.

I was like, You're not gonna bring your wife?

He's like, Yeah, I probably should.

Like people just got the vision, like it didn't make any sense.

So now we're in the midst of working to get this vehicle, and I feel like the vehicle forum, I feel like the best one I could find that I feel like would fit this family is this vehicle called a Nissan NV.

I didn't know much about it at all, so I'm digging around, I'm looking into it, I'm feeling like this might be the fit.

So I tell my uh, I tell the Richardsons, actually, I tell my fans, if the Richardson gives us permission, we're gonna capture their story.

And whoever bought a ticket will shoot you out, we'll send you what it looks like when they get the vehicle.

If they give us permission.

So we go ahead and we do uh so we we go ahead and we move forward, we got the ticket, we got the tickets, or we got the van, and I go to the family's house and I'm talking to them, and I happen to go in their uh kitchen on their and on the refrigerator.

I didn't know.

I didn't know they didn't know he knew obedience is better than sacrifice.

Now the Richardsons at this point have no idea.

Like we got the vehicle.

They don't even know we got it.

So now I'm like, yo, how are we gonna get it to them?

Because I'm all about the delivery.

I'm all about the punchline.

So I told him, I said, hey, we're gonna um we wanna show you your fundraising video we made for you.

Because we told them the video we were capturing was just like a fundraising video.

Maybe they could use it, maybe get a down payment on a car.

So we told him, we said, get all your family and your friends and get everybody together, and we're gonna come to your house and show you your video.

What really is gonna happen is I'm gonna show them the video, but then I'm gonna sneak out the house, be in front of their house, interrupt the video they're watching, and introduce them to the brand new Nissan MB.

And you get to see what that looks like.

Check it.

So we all go to their house.

They're all piled in to watch the video.

But what we really wanna do is watch them watch the video.

Because in the midst of this, I'm gonna sneak out, go outside, interrupt the video, and it's gonna be me in front of their house introducing them to their brand new Nissan MV.

Check it.

I know you're in there sitting on the couch wondering if this is actually a real live video.

Well, it is, and the reason I'm in front of your house right now is because I would love it if you and your whole crew and everybody else would simply just come outside so you could see your brand new Nissan MV.

Your payments are only four hundred dollars a month.

No, this is what you pay for a hundred percent.

This isn't a Michael Jr.

thing, this is about a family.

People y'all never met before heard y'all's story.

We decided to do a comedy show fundraising.

But the accent wasn't the show.

So people all over the country, my fans, different places got together and bought tickets to a show that don't even exist.

See y'all can have it.

I don't know how to do a second.

Now you're in a position where you just need to receive it.

I received I received.

So my question to you is can you receive?

Jesus came to the earth, got on a cross, and died for you.

You probably noticed that the dad, Tim, was at first, when his gift was presented to him, he had a really it took him a while to receive the gift.

He was still, he was sitting on the couch longer than anyone else.

He was in his seat longer than everyone else because he had a hard time receiving.

He couldn't believe that this amazing gift was his.

But that gift hails in comparison to the gift of what Jesus has done for you.

So my question is, can you receive?

So I'm gonna tell you this story.

It's a really cool story about having a relationship with Jesus.

One of my favorite stories, actually.

Um, we're gonna do it without the keyboard.

It's a little emotional.

If you could just stop for a second.

Yeah, yeah, it's a little.

So first, let me let me set up how I came up with the story, and then we'll um, and then you can come back in, okay, at some point.

So the way I came up with the story is I was writing a joke about uh about the good room.

How many people in here know what the good room is?

So I was writing a joke about the good room.

The truth is, is mostly all of you guys do.

Not very many hands went up.

You you guys know watching, you know what the good room is.

So the good room is that room in your grandmother's house or your aunt's house, or maybe um your house.

It's that one room that's better than the rest of the house.

Can't nobody go in there, splastic on the furniture, it's really just for looks.

How many people know what the good room is now?

Raise your hand.

Exactly.

So I was writing a joke about the good room, and in the middle of writing this joke, God stopped me and told me to tell this story to his people.

I'm gonna tell you the story.

Keyboard, please.

There you go.

It's awesome, man.

So I want everyone watching, everyone watching, even in overflow in that chair that was made specifically for you at this time.

I want everyone here.

I want you to imagine that you are a house.

And outside of the house is Jesus Christ.

And he wants to come in, but he'll never force his way in.

He actually wants you to invite a man.

And the reason some of you have not invited Jesus into the house is because you're cool with the way things are right now.

Whenever you need something, you just walk up to the door, crack it open, say what you need, say a little prayer, close the door, and go back into the house.

But that's not a relationship at all.

How can you hear his voice under those circumstances?

And the reason you won't let him in is because your house is a mess.

And you think you need to clean it up first.

He already knows what the house looks like.

There's things in the house, maybe drugs, maybe pornography, or maybe you're just buying a bunch of stuff.

Or relationships.

You invited other people in the house hoping that maybe they could help you clean it up.

But they can't.

The only one who can clean it up is standing outside the door wearing an apron with a bucket in his hand, waiting on you to open the door.

And then there's other people in here right now, right now, you used to have Jesus in the whole house.

But whether you recognize it or not, you have moved him to just one room in the house.

The good room.

Have you ever noticed how the good room, most of the time, is the one right up front with the big window?

So when people look in, they think the whole house is clean.

But it's not, it's just that one room.

So when they hear about you going to church, they think the whole house is clean, but it's just that one room.

You quote scriptures, but it's just that one room.

You give money, but it's just that one room.

You pray with people, but it's just that one room.

Jesus wants access to the whole house, and I'm telling you, if you will just open this door and let him in, he'll show up with a contractor named the Holy Spirit.

And they will make sure the house is fully functioning the way it was intended to.

But none of this happens if you don't open the door.

Because he will never force his way in.

So if everyone can close their eyes and bow your head, every campus, every campus, every overflow room.

Everyone.

If you're in here right now and you know you need to invite Jesus into your house, whether it be for the first time or to give him full access again, I'm gonna ask you to do something really simple.

On a count of three, I just want you to put your hand in the air, right where you are.

I just want you to put your hand in the air on a count of three.

If you need to invite Jesus into your house for the first time or to give him full access again.

On a count of three, put your hands in the air.

First off, I'm very proud of you for putting your hand up.

Now I'm gonna ask you to do something else.

And this is for everyone who raised their hand and even those who should have raised their hand.

Jesus says this.

He says, If you will take a stand for me before man, I will take a stand for you before my father in heaven.

So what that's gonna look like right here on earth is everyone who raised their hand and even those who should have raised their hand, on the count of three, I'm gonna want you to stand up and come forward so you can receive this gift.

When you raise your hand, you reach for the doorknob.

But when you stand up and come forward, we pray, you're gonna be blowing a door open so Jesus can come in.

So my question was, can you receive?

So when you stand to your feet and you come forward, you're saying, Yes, I can receive.

So again, everyone at every campus, at every overflow, no matter how tight the aisles are, on the count of three, I'm gonna want you to stand to your feet and come forward.

And to help with that, everyone else in the room, they're going to applaud as loud as they can, but it will not compare to the applause that the angels in heaven will be doing when you stand to your feet and come forward.

One, two, three.

Just stand up and come forward.
