  1. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Love Quest International

  2. Church podcast where we seek to love all nations, equip the

  3. church, mobilize the equipped, and serve all.

  4. We're super glad you're joining us from whenever and wherever

  5. you're at in the world. Welcome to the family to get

  6. your Bibles ready, get some water, get some coffee, maybe

  7. some tea, and get ready to receive.

  8. It's go time. Let's get into it.

  9. Thank you, Effie. That's powerful.

  10. Powerful word. What's so good to be with you

  11. again and what a great subject. Faith that works.

  12. I want to thank you, Pastor Terence and Pastor Julia, for

  13. the honor of being able to speak into this subject and to be able

  14. to preach from this platform. Thank you so much for all you

  15. have done, all you've established here at Love Quest,

  16. and all that God has for your future.

  17. It's exciting to be a part of what God is doing.

  18. Faith that works. Lazarus, Martha and Mary were

  19. good friends of Jesus and they were from a town called Bethany.

  20. Now Lazarus had become sick and he was Jesus actually had gone

  21. to the other side of the Jordan. He was quite a ways away because

  22. he was they were trying to arrest him in Judea.

  23. So they sent word to Jesus and said Lazarus whom you love is

  24. sick, come come in and and heal him.

  25. So we read in John Chapter 11 and verse four when Jesus got

    John 11 chapter mention

  26. this message, he said this sickness is not fatal.

  27. It will become an occasion to show God's glory by glorifying

  28. God's Son. Now what an interesting

  29. response. This sickness isn't going to be

  30. fatal, but it'll create an opportunity, an occasion for

  31. God's glory to be revealed. Now wouldn't that put a

  32. different perspective on our situation when we see the

  33. challenges of our day and say, OK, well Lord, what's the

  34. occasion that I'm dealing with that will bring glory to you?

  35. What is this circumstance that I'm encountering that is

  36. actually an occasion for the glory of God to be at work

  37. because we serve a good God, Remember, we serve a good

  38. Father. And So what is the occasion?

  39. What is this thing that is looking so bad, looking so

  40. terrible, but is in fact an occasion for the glory of God to

  41. be revealed? New perspectives, new lenses,

  42. new ways of things, seeing things.

  43. That's what we're called to. So he declared the Word of

  44. Faith. The slide will come up in a

  45. minute, but it says the Word of Faith is the word the Holy

  46. Spirit carries and governs the Kingdom with.

  47. And when Pastor Terence spoke about this, it really hit me.

  48. There's a word that proceeds. There's a word from God.

  49. And then we marry ourselves to the word of God as a Word of

  50. Faith. And then the Holy Spirit takes

  51. that Word of Faith and takes that, and that's how we govern

  52. the Kingdom. What does that mean?

  53. To govern, to set a right, to put in place, to oversee?

  54. So the Holy Spirit takes the Word of Faith and creates this

  55. space to govern with, as if Jesus here is declaking, making

  56. it a firm declaration. This sickness is not fatal, but

  57. it will become an occasion to show God's glory by glorifying

  58. God's Son. By this statement, He was

  59. putting into the ethos, He was putting into the atmosphere,

  60. He's putting into the spirit realm a declaration that this

  61. circumstance was going to give glory to God.

  62. Now what happens is he takes a couple of more days there, which

  63. was curious, right? You got a friend who's not well,

  64. you've been out there healing blind people, lame people.

  65. They're all going great. You know, we can deal with this.

  66. Why don't you just hurry up and get going, right?

  67. But he waited a couple more days, and then on the third day

  68. he said, OK, well, it's time to go to Judea.

  69. Now. There's a whole part I'm going

  70. to skip where they're worried because basically the last time

  71. they were in Judea, they were trying to kill them.

  72. But he's going back to that place where he was being

  73. threatened. But in verse 11, talking to

  74. disciples, he said these things and then and then announced our

  75. friend Lazarus has fallen asleep.

  76. I'm going to wake him up. The disciples said, Master, if

  77. he's going to sleep, he'll get a good rest.

  78. We're going feeling fine. He just had a cold.

  79. He's good, right? But Jesus was talking about

  80. death while his disciples thought he was talking about

  81. taking a nap. Misinterpretation, a little bit

  82. of confusion there. So Jesus clears it up and says

  83. Lazarus died, and I'm glad for your sakes that I wasn't there.

  84. You're about to be given new grounds for believing.

  85. New grounds for believing. Now, what happened to the

  86. statement, the declaration of the Word of Faith?

  87. Didn't he just say it wouldn't be fatal?

  88. It won't be fatal. He's going to be fine, but he's

  89. dead. Well, hold on.

  90. Isn't the definition of fatal like death?

  91. And yet here he is saying he's dead.

  92. But I'm glad he's dead because this will be an opportunity.

  93. This will be new grounds for believing.

  94. You're about to see the glory of God revealed.

  95. You're about to see the power of God at work.

  96. This is the new grounds for believing the glory of God will

  97. be revealed. Hallelujah.

  98. This is God's rhythm and God's pace.

  99. Jesus waited for Lazarus death on purpose.

  100. You know, just like we were explaining that didn't make

  101. sense to the disciples. I didn't get it.

  102. You said it wouldn't be fatal. Now you're saying he's dead.

  103. And now how does this work? But it was God's rhythm, God's

  104. purpose. And the reason for that, the

  105. reason why he let him die was so that we might believe and have a

  106. new testimony to declare the goodness of God.

  107. Now let's consider that for yourself.

  108. What things is the Lord allowed to die as grounds so you can see

  109. that He was the one who was going to bring it to life again,

  110. creating grounds for you to see His power at work, His rhythm,

  111. his pace doesn't make sense to our natural mind.

  112. But if we're patient, we're going to get that new testimony.

  113. If we're patient and we flow with the Spirit of God, we're

  114. led by the Spirit, we're going to get a new testimony.

  115. Verse 17 to 24, Jesus arrives in Bethany and Martha heard Jesus

  116. was coming and went out to meet him.

  117. Mary remained in the house and Martha said, Master, if you'd

  118. been here, my brother wouldn't have died.

  119. Even now I know that whatever you ask God, he will give you.

  120. And Jesus said your brother will be raised up.

  121. Martha replied, I know that he will be raised up in the

  122. resurrection of the dead at the end of time.

  123. Here she is. Martha, if you had been past

  124. tense, I could see how that works.

  125. And you will be. Oh, I can see how that works.

  126. What are we missing? The.

  127. Now, if I'd only done it, then I could have believed God for it.

  128. Oh, I think sometime in the far future.

  129. Yeah, this could work, but what about now?

  130. John 1125? Jesus replies and says you don't

  131. have to wait for the end. I am right now, resurrection and

  132. life, The one who believes in me, even though he or she dies

  133. will live, and everyone who lives believing in me does not

  134. ultimately die at all. Do you believe this?

  135. He is the I am. She could believe that he could

  136. be raised out of a death out of his sick bed, and she could

  137. believe that she could be raised out of the the grave at the end

  138. of time. But he was saying, but I am in

  139. the now, right now, if you'll believe.

  140. Right now, if you will believe. My dad had a line when he

  141. preached. He'd say it's not just pie in

  142. the sky when you die. It's meat on the plate while you

  143. wait. We're not waiting for all these

  144. exciting things to happen when Jesus returns.

  145. We're walking now in the fullness of God.

  146. We're walking now in the promises of God.

  147. We're stepping in now because we have a now God.

  148. Do you agree? Amen.

  149. We have a right now God and Jesus is enough.

  150. Right now Jesus is enough. Verse 33 goes on and says, when

  151. Jesus saw her sobbing, this is Mary and the Jews with her

  152. sobbing, a deep anger welled up within him.

  153. He said, where did you put him? That's Lazarus Master, come and

  154. see. They said.

  155. Now Jesus wept. The Jews said look how deeply he

  156. loved him. Others among them said, well if

  157. he loved him so much, I got to do this in a voice because it

  158. seems appropriate. Well, if he had loved him so

  159. much, why didn't he do something to keep him from dying?

  160. Right? I mean, he opened the bias of

  161. the blind. Come on.

  162. Who's the complainers? It's never enough.

  163. They want to interrupt your faith.

  164. They want to intervene. They want to put a obstacle of

  165. your belief, and Jesus says nothing to them.

  166. He just moves on. Honestly, that's a great way to

  167. go. All right, let's keep going.

  168. Remember, Jesus kicked out. It was Jairus's daughter.

  169. They kicked out all the mourners and kept us three.

  170. Like, get rid of these people. They're not helping.

  171. OK, There's time to move on. And now in verse 38, then Jesus,

  172. the anger again welling up in him, arrived at the tomb.

  173. It was a simple cave in the hillside with a slab of stone

  174. laid against it. And Jesus said remove the stone.

  175. That's bold action. That's bold action.

  176. You don't remove a stone unless you're waiting for something to

  177. come out of there. You don't get rid of that door

  178. slab unless you're expecting something to come out.

  179. And people don't expect somebody to come out of a grave that's

  180. unexpected. That's that's the that's the

  181. radical response. He's bold action.

  182. The sister of the dead man, Martha said.

  183. Master, by this time there's a stench.

  184. He's been dead for days. There are things you prayed for

  185. and believe for and then you let them die.

  186. Ask the Lord, is he breathing life into them again?

  187. Ask the Lord, is he breathing life into them again?

  188. John 1140 says this is a powerful verse.

  189. This is a critical verse. Jesus looked her in the eye.

  190. Didn't I tell you that if you believed you would see the glory

  191. of God? Jesus said that the death of

  192. Lazarus was so that the glory of God might be revealed.

  193. And now he comes and says to Martha, Didn't I tell you, if

  194. you believe? If you will believe?

  195. If you will believe, you will see the glory of God.

  196. If you will believe, you will see the glory of God, the

  197. revelation of His glory manifest, giving you new

  198. testimonies, new grace, a new love, a new peace.

  199. You're born of the Spirit. You're born of the Spirit of

  200. God. We have a new way of living.

  201. If you will believe, you will see the glory of God.

  202. Lazarus came back from the dead, but the faith Jesus was modeling

  203. for us as a faith founded upon relationship, looking under

  204. Jesus, the author and the finisher of our faith, Hebrews

  205. 12/2 says he is the one. He's modeled it and He's showing

  206. you the way He's modeling it, and He's going to bring his

  207. glory through it. God's good.

  208. As the children of God, our expectations should be that we

  209. can be led by the Spirit of God. Your faith is affected by how

  210. you see God and what you believe about him.

  211. But I tell you tonight, believe God, believe God, believe him,

  212. have faith in him. Press in because God wants to

  213. bring new testimonies in your life.

  214. I want you to invite and walk with me.

  215. A mighty woman of God, a woman who has a heart for the people,

  216. a heart of love and grace, a woman who loves to worship the

  217. Lord, a powerful and mighty woman of welcome with the seon

  218. up to the. Stage Amen.

  219. How y'all doing? Thank you Brett and Effie for

  220. paving the way. The Lord is speaking.

  221. Can y'all confirm? Y'all need to make sure you

  222. don't go sleeping on me? OK?

  223. I got a word in my belly that I need to release.

  224. Firstly, of course, I have to say thank you.

  225. Pastor Terrence, Pastor Julia, you two are just built different

  226. and I've come to terms that that's actually OK.

  227. There's a lot of people in the word that we have seen that were

  228. different and that made history. So I thank you for your

  229. obedience to see us, to equip us to mobilize us.

  230. Y'all are so blessed. You're blessed.

  231. I pray that my life and the fruit that comes out of my life

  232. that you would see the seeds that you have sown in me so

  233. fruitful in your life. So thank you from the bottom of

  234. my heart for the opportunity to speak to to God's people.

  235. Y'all good, Amen. Let's get right into it.

  236. Faith that works. Who's been blessed by this

  237. series? Faith that works.

  238. You can put up the slide train. The Raven is coming. 00 Who

  239. remembers when PT spoke about this?

  240. It was May 8th. Specifically when he brought

  241. this up when he told us, when we read the story of Elijah and 1st

  242. Kings. And he said the Raven is you're

  243. like, yeah, OK, let's go. See on.

  244. All right, let's go, let's go first King 17 says, and then

  245. this. If I mispronounce words, y'all

  246. just keep a pushing, OK? And then this happened.

  247. Elijah, the Tishbite from among the settlers of Gilead,

  248. confronted Ahab. As surely as God lives the God

  249. of Israel before whom I stand in in obedience service, the next

  250. years are going to see a total drought, not a drop of dew or

  251. rain unless I say otherwise. This is Elijah speaking and then

  252. God told Elijah, get out of here and fast.

  253. Head east. Head but out of the Carruth

  254. Ravine and the other side of the Jordan River.

  255. You can drink fresh water from the brook.

  256. I have ordered the Ravens to feed you.

  257. The Ravens are on their way, so you better get on yours.

  258. The way God provides doesn't need to make sense to you in

  259. order for it to be ordained for God.

  260. From God, by God for you. Oh, what are you trying to play

  261. God for? What are you trying to play his

  262. role for? I just said the way God provides

  263. intellectually doesn't need to make sense to you in order for

  264. it to be ordained by God for you.

  265. Have you ever asked these questions when God has asked you

  266. to do something crazy? Where am I going?

  267. Who going to be there? God, how is this going to work?

  268. Why me? I know y'all asked that last

  269. one. Faith.

  270. I understand you just happened to be the first person I saw.

  271. Why me God? Why, Where, what, how, why,

  272. Who's, If you be honest, who's asked that question before?

  273. We all have, we all have, we all have.

  274. Is your wondering out of a place of desiring for your faith to

  275. grow? Or is it out of a place of fear?

  276. The root of your questions will produce the fruit of your

  277. actions. Obedience versus disobedience.

  278. How many of you all remember when Elder John said you need to

  279. ask the Lord for some good questions?

  280. I remember he said that I was like, that's so true.

  281. Instead of me, just Yappa, Yappa, Yappa, Yappa, Yappa,

  282. Yappa, Yappa, Yappa, Yappa over here, why don't I just ask the

  283. Lord, submit myself, humble myself, lay my pride, pride down

  284. and say, Lord, what do you give me the questions?

  285. Lord, give me the questions because the root of your

  286. questions will produce the fruit of your actions out of the

  287. abundance of the heart. Oh, oh, OK, OK, OK.

  288. Pay attention. God is giving specific

  289. instruction to Elijah. He said get out of here fast.

  290. Urgency. He said head east, hide out at

  291. the Careth ravine on the other side of the Jordan River

  292. direction. You can drink from fresh water

  293. from the brook and I've ordered the Ravens to feed you

  294. provision. The Lord will never lead you to

  295. a place of confusion, but He will lead you to places that

  296. required to trust him. Be honest.

  297. Do you trust God? This ain't one of those messages

  298. where you can sit back and be like, yeah, I'm I'm talking in

  299. this moment. Holy Spirit search my heart in

  300. these moments created me a clean and pure heart in the areas God

  301. where I have doubted you, where I didn't have faith in you,

  302. where I didn't trust you God, I repent.

  303. Who says you need to wait till later for that?

  304. He's a now God. It doesn't matter what it looks

  305. like. Make the decision to be where

  306. God told you to be. Have faith that the Raven is

  307. coming first Kings continuing the Scripture, it says Elijah

  308. obeyed God's orders. He went and he camped in the

  309. Careth Canon and on the other side of the Jordan and ensuring

  310. on the other side of the Jordan. And sure enough, Ravens brought

  311. him his meals, both breakfast and supper, and he drank from

  312. the book Brook. Elijah had to put his faith into

  313. action by getting to the other side of the Jordan.

  314. Provision wasn't where he used to be.

  315. Provision was where God was calling him to be.

  316. What is dead in your life that you are asking God to bless?

  317. But He's telling you I ain't there no more.

  318. I ain't there no more. What's your Jordan?

  319. What is your Jordan church? Is it your past?

  320. Is it your family? Listen, Is it yourself?

  321. What are you willing to do to get onto the other side where

  322. God has called you? Is the true provision the the

  323. food and the water Elijah received in the midst of the

  324. unknown? Or was it really knowing that

  325. God was a God of his word and worthy to be trusted in the

  326. midst of the unknown? Come on, that's fully

  327. perspective. What are you magnifying?

  328. What have you put a lens to? Is it to know Him or is it to

  329. get stuff from Him? I'm telling you the fruit only

  330. comes from knowing him. Say this loud with me, y'all,

  331. Lord, may we seek your face more than we seek your hand.

  332. Go ahead. The Ravens kept.

  333. This is in the Christian standard Bible version of the of

  334. of 17 six. It says the Ravens kept bringing

  335. him bread and meat in the morning and in the evening and

  336. he would drink from the Wadi, which is the ravine.

  337. God in this moment reveals himself as El Shaddai.

  338. All sufficient or the God who is more than enough.

  339. God spoke, Elijah obeyed God provided God spoke, Elijah

  340. obeyed God provided. It's in God's nature to provide

  341. for his children. Obedience is better than

  342. sacrifice. First Samuel 1522 tells us that

  343. and I just want to go in this moment to to talk about Abraham

  344. for a second. Genesis 2210 says And Abraham

  345. stretched, and this is when the instruction for Abraham to go

  346. bring his son up to the mountain to go sacrifice Isaac.

  347. OK, Context. And Abraham stretched forth his

  348. hand and took hold of the knife to slay his son.

  349. But the Angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said,

  350. Abraham, Abraham. And he answered, Here I am.

  351. And he said, do not lay hands on the lad or anything to him for

  352. now I know that you fear and Revere the law and Revere God.

  353. Since you have not held back from me or begrudged giving me

  354. your son, your only son, go to the next scripture.

  355. Then Abraham looked up. He glanced around and behold,

  356. behind him was a ram which is a male sheep caught in the thicket

  357. by his horns. And Abraham went and took the

  358. ram and offered it up for a burnt offering and an ascending

  359. sacrifice instead of his son. God told Abraham what mountain

  360. to go to to offer his son as a burnt offering.

  361. OK, it doesn't say that Abraham went to the closest mountain to

  362. him. God told him where to go.

  363. What if Abraham decided I'm just going to go to the mountain

  364. closest to me? This is good, right God?

  365. What if Abraham decided I'ma just go to the mountain closest

  366. to me, God? This is good, right God?

  367. That was not. There was not a ram awaiting him

  368. on the wrong mountain, but on the right mountain.

  369. The provision he needed was at the location that God was

  370. calling him to go. Stop trying to manipulate the

  371. word or instruction God gave you to fit your comfort.

  372. This is not comfort season, this is faith season.

  373. God doesn't work like that beloved.

  374. He just doesn't. The the Lord is faithful to

  375. fulfill His word, not yours. Uh oh, Shereen, next slide.

  376. Uh oh, Jeremiah one says then said the Lord to me, you have

  377. seen well, for I am alert and active watching over my word to

  378. perform it. OK need other translations.

  379. I got you in the King James Version it says for I will

  380. hasten my word to perform it. Hasten.

  381. It means to be quick to do something.

  382. The new King James says, for I am ready to perform it.

  383. The NIV says, for I am watching to see that my word is

  384. fulfilled. The message says, I'll make

  385. every word I give to you come true.

  386. Hasten, hasten, ready watching. Make action verbs.

  387. I had to ask a couple of my teacher friends for this.

  388. God is in the business of action Baptist First Kings Eventually

  389. the brook dried up and because of because of the drought, then

  390. God spoke to him. Get up and go to Zarephath.

  391. Zarephath incident and live there.

  392. I've instructed a woman who lives there, a widow, to feed

  393. you. Stop looking for provision in

  394. areas that God isn't at anymore. It's dried up.

  395. Keep it pushing. Some of you are wondering why

  396. God hasn't come through for you, hasn't answered your prayers,

  397. isn't giving you further instruction for your next

  398. season. But the question that I would

  399. ask you is, have you obeyed the last word and the instruction

  400. that He did give you? Your next instruction comes from

  401. your obedience from the first word He gave you.

  402. Be a good steward of the word. How do you keep The Word Alive?

  403. Y'all know this one? Say it loudly with me number

  404. 12345 worship team. You can come up y'all.

  405. The Raven is coming. I'm telling you, this is a
