Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Love Quest International
-
Church Podcast where we seek to love all nations, equip the
-
church, mobilize the equipped, and serve all.
-
We're super glad you're joining us from whenever and wherever
-
you're at in the world. Welcome to the family to get
-
your Bibles ready, get some water, get some coffee, maybe
-
some tea, and get ready to receive.
-
It's go time. Let's get into it.
-
Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen. But you know, that's not just a
-
song, but that's a reality. The Jesus we serve and the God
-
the Father that sent him has promised us that he's coming
-
back again, and it's important that we live in that reality.
-
Just because it may seem as if he's been delayed in coming
-
doesn't mean he's not sure that he will.
-
From the time Adam, and for some accounts, if you want to say
-
2000 years from Adam to Jesus, the Bible declared that he's
-
coming. For 2000 years they said he's
-
coming and he came. So just because we haven't seen
-
his return, his return is promised, which means he's
-
coming again. And we ought to live in that
-
reality like it's reality, not as a song.
-
We ought to live in that reality like not only is a present for
-
us, but we have to get generations after us ready for
-
that shitty tarry in our lifetime.
-
Amen. You can have a seat.
-
And when Jesus comes again, the Bible, as I read it, talks about
-
two things. There's an appearing that
-
there's a coming. When he appears.
-
When he comes, understand he's not doing his own work.
-
When he comes, he is finishing his Father's work that he
-
started. His father promised not only a
-
deliverance and a freedom for people, but he also promised the
-
judgment that would come. Now, judgment has two sides.
-
Judgment is for and against. It's not always bad.
-
In a court case, someone is suing someone to collect money
-
from a contract. The judge renders a judgment.
-
This side, you win. The other side, there's
-
consequences. Judgment isn't always bad, but
-
he's coming to to do judgment. And that's important to know
-
that he's not going to stop until his father's work is done.
-
He's not going to stop until his father is fully revealed in the
-
fullness of his work. And if he's, and if he's won't
-
stop, can't stop, then neither should we.
-
Amen. Amen.
-
Again, I always thanking our pastors and the opportunity to
-
share the word of God. It's it's, it's it's a humbling
-
thing. Sometimes it's a heavy thing,
-
but it's a privilege thing and I thank God for it for sure.
-
I want to start out with a few comments this morning.
-
You already received this morning.
-
And now listen, we have fun over here, OK?
-
So y'all got to learn how to smile heavy.
-
You know what I mean by smile heavy?
-
Even though like God is in the room.
-
Smile though, because God's in the room, OK?
-
Amen. Amen.
-
So there's a couple things I want to share with you off the
-
top. Revival.
-
Everyone said revival, I think as I was preparing today and we
-
just back in the back searching things out.
-
Revival is a return to the fear of God.
-
That's really one of the hallmarks of revival is a return
-
to the fear of God. Now I know it's said often times
-
that one of the hallmarks of revival is repentance, and I
-
believe that that's true. But the reason repentance comes
-
with revival because repentance is a fruit of the fear of God.
-
When people grow in the fear of God, repentance is automatic off
-
you to that. They begin to see who he is, His
-
weight. They begin to see who they are
-
in their distance from Him. And the first response to that
-
reverence is to turn from your stuff and turn towards God.
-
Got it. So repentance is a fruit, I
-
think, of one of the key aspects of revival, which is the fear of
-
God. And with the fear of God comes a
-
lot of other things besides repentance.
-
And why is this important? Because if in revival you are
-
thinking it's mostly defined by repentance, when repentance
-
starts, then you'll stop, OK. When repentance starts, then
-
you'll stop that pressing into where God is taking you.
-
Because after repentance comes reverence, reverence comes
-
obedience. There's so much more to be done
-
out of a move of God, a revival, because the fear of God comes to
-
accomplish things. The Bible doesn't say that the
-
fear of God is the same thing as the zeal of God, but I think
-
it's this, this. They're close cousins.
-
The Bible talks about how the zeal of God shall accomplish
-
some things. It's hard to be have a zeal of
-
God without a fear of God. So when the fear of God shows
-
up, there's an urgency that comes out of your reverence for
-
Him. And so revival is not just meant
-
to get people to turn, it's meant to accomplish the Father's
-
purpose in the earth. So it's a lot more to revival
-
than just repentance. And that's why revival or
-
outpourings are for everyone. For even if you don't feel
-
there's any deep hearted, deep seated repentance that you need
-
to offer, there is an urgency that needs to be imparted to
-
finish the work of the Father that comes out of those moments.
-
I want to talk about today is the fear of God.
-
Pastors picked up on this. He felt and previously said he
-
felt a return to the fear of God to bring that message back and
-
to remind us some of some things.
-
Now I'm going to give you a quick tip.
-
Everyone say P tip, not a prayer tip, but prophetic tip.
-
P tip is this be watchful of the rhythms of what's happening.
-
OK, you, you want to God will show you a curve if you pay
-
attention to the data. OK, so if I have some data
-
points on the line and I'm this close to them, it may be
-
difficult for me to see, OK, it's not a scientific crowd.
-
OK, Google Maps. OK, I'll put something in Google
-
Maps. If I look at it real close, all
-
I see is a spot. I don't see the like the path of
-
where I'm headed. OK, But if I pull out, zoom out,
-
see I'm see I'm even changing it even I'm talking all right.
-
As I as I zoom out, all of a sudden now I kind of see where I
-
started, where I'm going. I get a context of what's there.
-
I get a sense of what's around 1.
-
I get a bigger picture as to what's happening right.
-
And this is important for you non map readers.
-
When you get a sense of the bigger picture, then you also
-
know how to respond to detour when it comes right, because I
-
have a sense of where I'm going and what's around where I'm
-
going. Got it.
-
So prophetic tip is don't just come to to to service.
-
Come to our experiences and just get data.
-
That's why I take your notes is important because notes puts
-
data down and then you step back and look at the course of your
-
notes and you go like, whoa, I'm seeing something here.
-
And that bitter bigger visual will prepare you for what God's
-
doing now and what God's doing next makes sense.
-
So when pastor said fear of God, God's trying to remind us of
-
that and how all the stuff that he's been talking about since
-
the beginning of the year to now is connected to the fear of God
-
and reminding us how that's the soil that it comes out of.
-
Good Somers care more about the soil than the seeds.
-
OK, Y'all don't farm in here. If I was out in Chilliwack right
-
now, they'd be like you Yahoo. Yeah, they'd be a something on
-
that one. OK.
-
I'd have got a good, good farmer.
-
Hallelujah on that one, I'm telling you.
-
OK, Good. Farmers care more about the soil
-
than the seeds because the quality of the soil would
-
determine the, the, the the impact on the seed and therefore
-
the harvest. I told somebody that's not, you
-
know, I don't really drink alcohol, but I I think the, the,
-
the, the, the, the analogy holds up.
-
I was talking to somebody about this very recently.
-
I think. I know I was Champagne.
-
Everyone says champagne. It's an all the ones who said it
-
really loud. Yeah.
-
OK. All right.
-
All right. OK.
-
OK, you know, the move, that move at that point was shampoo.
-
What I don't never heard that. So that was that was your cover.
-
That was your cover right there. Champagne.
-
Everyone say Champagne. Champagne now Champagne.
-
My my family was in the wine and beverage business for a lot of
-
years. And so I know something a lot
-
about that kind of stuff. So Champagne is a sparkling
-
wine. OK, but in order for a sparkling
-
wine to be called Champagne, it has to be made of 100% of 1 kind
-
of grape that's grown in the Champagne region of France.
-
You got it. If it is not, it's called
-
sparkly wine. Or they'll put on their Methode
-
de Champois Champagne method, because you can't legally call
-
it Champagne, right method. Champagne method means it could
-
have some different kind of grapes from different areas and
-
the thing. And why did he do that?
-
Because there's something about the soil of that region that
-
makes those grapes taste a certain way.
-
It's the soil that makes the flavor, not the seed that goes
-
in it. It's the soil that determines
-
the quality and the value, not the grapes that get planted in
-
the soil. You plant those same grapes in
-
California or in the valley and it won't taste the same because
-
it's different soil, even though the seeds are the same.
-
Now this is important to note too.
-
You can take that same soil from that region and transplant it to
-
California or the Valley and it will no longer produce champagne
-
grapes. Why?
-
Because the soil transplanted to a different region begins to
-
change. The sun is different, the water
-
is different, the air is different, the moisture is
-
different. So over time, the soil will
-
change. That's why it's important to
-
know where your soil is placed and to make sure your soil stays
-
where it's placed. Because when you start moving
-
your soil around, you start moving your harvest around, stop
-
moving your life around. So the farmer's concerned about
-
where the soil is. Always have to do with anything.
-
What you ready? You ready.
-
The fear of God is the soil of your heart.
-
That's the soil, OK? When you're trying to live out
-
of something other than the fear of God, it's like taking that
-
soil from France and putting it in the valley, but expecting the
-
same results. The soil makes a bigger, bigger
-
difference, even more so than the seed.
-
And, and I, and I just in, in talking about the fear of God,
-
part of what I think God's calling us to is, is to live out
-
of the fear of God, not live alongside of the fear of God.
-
And what do I mean? And, and this is the challenge
-
for me, for everyone here, OK, there are times where I'm like,
-
OK, I'm looking to do some things, but because I fear God,
-
I will say God, how does what I'm looking to do line up with
-
you? OK, now that sounds really good,
-
but that's not living out of the fear of God.
-
That's adding, that's adding the fear of God to my living.
-
It's different between when you cook it with the hot sauce in
-
the recipe versus you add it after the recipe is complete and
-
it's served. OK, living out of the fear of
-
God says this. Jesus said it best.
-
I only do what my Father has shown me.
-
I don't have to ask my father whether this is in line with the
-
fear of God, because I don't do anything except it comes out of
-
the fear of God. That's a different walk.
-
That's a different requirement. It requires you to be thinking
-
of the fear of God first. It requires you to be thinking
-
of God always first. It requires a complete
-
abandonment of your to your own plans, your own purposes, and
-
your own ideas. It doesn't mean that you're not
-
important and God doesn't have a call on your life.
-
But it means I am so abandoned to God that the only thing I do
-
always, anytime, anywhere is out of reverence for who He is.
-
You don't have to ask me whether what I'm doing is out of the
-
fear of God because I wouldn't even consider it except it was
-
out of the fear of God. So with that understanding, it's
-
important to understand what the fear of God is and remind us of
-
that. Now we I did a message about
-
this early on when we first started near the beginning of
-
the year, fall in and fall out, fear of God.
-
I kept some of the same visuals references, but just like passes
-
going back to remind US about the fear of God.
-
I I have the opportunity to remind us of what the fear of
-
God is versus what being afraid of God is.
-
OK, and it's good to have these reminders.
-
Why? Because the more you grow in
-
understanding now you see things differently.
-
OK, and your and your understanding can grow.
-
So I want to go to fear of versus afraid of.
-
The fear of God is different than being afraid of God.
-
Often times in the Bible, the fear of God is always with the
-
fear of God, but afraid can have no God with it.
-
OK. The fear of the, the, the, the
-
fear of God in the Scripture is never like fear.
-
And you just know it's the fear of God.
-
It's always fear of God, fear of the Lord.
-
Now, the Scripture also has the word afraid in it, but it don't
-
have God around it. I was afraid.
-
You see what I'm saying? There's no God in that sentence,
-
in that circle, in that context. The fear of God is always
-
contextualized around God. Often times in Scripture, the
-
word fear of God and the word fear comes from the same word,
-
from the same root. So as I'm suggesting to you, is
-
this that context determines the meaning.
-
OK. You cannot understand the fear
-
of God from the scriptural standpoint without context.
-
All right, here's an example. I'm going to give you 2
-
examples. First one Bible example.
-
Mary said Mary, Jesus, Mama. Mary said Angel said you're
-
going to have a baby born in the spirit.
-
Cool. Mary said how can this be?
-
Somebody else got the same message from the same Angel,
-
John the Baptist Daddy, He said, how can this be?
-
Well, Mary, OK, same word, same exact words.
-
Mary got a whole song for her. My soul does magnify the Lord of
-
my spirit just rejoices in God my Savior.
-
Behold, he's looked upon the she got a whole like a whole verse.
-
She got a whole single. Spotify ran it up.
-
You know, she got she got all of that.
-
OK, blessed are you and all that kind of thing.
-
John the Baptist daddy said. I'm going to shut your mouth,
-
bro. You ain't going to be able to
-
say nothing until your son gets born.
-
Same exact words, but the context of their heart made them
-
different. The context of why what they
-
were saying, what they're saying made it different.
-
Context matters. Now I'm going to give you a more
-
common example. Annabelle, we good?
-
We good. We good, we good.
-
You see it in different ways. Now.
-
The first time I said we good, she looked we good.
-
Yeah. So what's all the other we goods
-
about? I told you it was good the first
-
time. But you see I'm saying this
-
something different. We good, Now that's like, you
-
going to mess around and find out, OK, you go faith around and
-
find out now we good, we good, right?
-
Same words, but context makes a difference.
-
Body context, physical context, who's saying it, who's
-
listening, right? And that's important to
-
understand why? Because fearing God is not a
-
matter of lip service, it's a matter of your own heart
-
context. OK, you can say you fear God,
-
but don't. The Bible says that this way.
-
Your lips are near to me, but your hearts are far from me.
-
That's why the biggest fact checker in the fear of God in
-
your life is God and you. It's personal, but that's why it
-
requires so much of us and for us to you, for you to really
-
examine where you really are in honesty and in truth.
-
That's why pride is so dangerous, because pride, for
-
example, is something that keeps you see wheezing.
-
Pride is so, so terrible to have because the very nature of that
-
problem keeps you from knowing that you got a problem with me.
-
I got a problem. Pride will keep you from even
-
admitting that you have a problem, right?
-
And if even if someone tells you you got a problem, pride will
-
cause you not to listen to them even though they telling you the
-
problem that you have. OK, but the context of your
-
heart is so important and the ability to truly render your
-
heart and be honest with God, let your walls down to to really
-
examine whether you have a reverence for God that he
-
deserves is really important. Let's talk about the difference
-
between afraid of and fear of. Afraid of, afraid of the sin
-
focused and me focused. Whenever you're talking about
-
afraid, it's about sin and by self.
-
Fear is always focused on self. What's going to happen to me?
-
How am I going to be impacted? What's the results of this?
-
Something bad's going to happen to me or my family or my
-
contacts. Afraid of us always sin focused
-
and me focused. Genesis 3 says this.
-
This is Adam. I heard you in the garden.
-
I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid.
-
Now this is really important, OK, at least from an English
-
translation standpoint. I didn't study every Hebrew and
-
Greek word before the first two chapters of Genesis, but it's
-
interesting. This is the first time the word
-
fear is represented in Scripture, and it comes after
-
sin. Afraid only came after sin.
-
And why? Because frayed creates distance
-
between you and your Father. Before sin, there was no
-
distance. There was nothing to be afraid
-
of. That's what he's talking about,
-
the knowledge of good and evil. You can't.
-
You got to sin cause you to have a knowledge of some things that
-
you didn't need to have knowledge of beforehand.
-
Afraid of and sin focus and me focused and notice how all of
-
that is in there. I had sinned, I was separated.
-
I was focused on me and I hid me from you.
-
Genesis 15 one says this, after this word of the Lord came to
-
Abraham and Abraham in a vision, God said do not be afraid,
-
Abraham, I am your shield, your very great reward.
-
So clearly, if we're supposed to have a fear of the Lord, and
-
then the word of the Lord says do not be afraid.
-
He's talking about different things.
-
He's not going to say that there's a fear of the fear of
-
me. You ought to have, but don't
-
have it. He's saying there's something
-
different here. Don't be afraid.
-
It's not about I'm not here about sin and you not, and I'm
-
not here about your own self. I'm here about me.
-
Notice how much of that sentence has God in it.
-
I am not. It's not a sentence about Abram.
-
Do not be afraid, Abram. You are found holy.
-
Do not be afraid, Abram. You are found worthy.
-
You didn't talk about Abram here.
-
He says do not be afraid, Abraham.
-
I'm your shield. I'm your exceeding great reward.
-
The fear of God has shown up and he's telling Abraham you don't
-
need to respond in terror, you just need to respond in
-
reverence because I'm here and it's all about me.
-
And that's important to understand that the fear of God
-
is about God. Reverence all and him.
-
Focus. The fear of God is about who God
-
is. The fear of God is about what
-
God is doing. That's really important.
-
Why? Because when Jesus came and
-
delivered us from sin, he didn't deliver us from the fear of God.
-
If it was fear of God was about being afraid, when we got
-
delivered from sin, there was nothing to be afraid of.
-
So therefore there would be No Fear of God.
-
Actually, the fact He delivered us from sin allows us to walk
-
more purely in the fear of God. But because there's no sin in
-
self involved, there's only God and who he is and his power and
-
his glory. The fear of God is about God.
-
The fear of God is about reverence and all and, and, and
-
him and being focused on all of those things.
-
That's what the fear of God's about.
-
When God shows up, you start talking about you.
-
That's you being afraid, not the fear of God.
-
When God shows up and you start talking about him, that's the
-
fear of God. You got that.
-
So you guys that causing you asking you to be afraid of him
-
in the fear what he's saying is deal what you're saying deal
-
with yourself. I've done that through Jesus and
-
recognize who I am recognize my ability to recognize my power
-
recognize why I've come recognize you better put some
-
wrong anyway. Now the fear of God.
-
How many y'all tracking so far? OK, good.
-
The fear of God can be both in you and on you, in you and on
-
you. In you, On you, OK, I'm gonna
-
let you inside my head, right? So I, well, as I said that
-
right, you practice these things sometimes, I said the fear of
-
God can be both in you and on you.
-
And what my mind really went to is that I whipped my hair back
-
and forth and that's about my mind.
-
My my mind went about why I went there and you and on you.
-
Anyway, the fear of God can be both in you and on you.
-
You know you're not really in the fear of God.
-
There's no joy there. The bar Jesus says this in the
-
in the gospels that the Kingdom of God is righteousness, peace
-
and joy. If you have no joy, you got a 2
-
legged stool or two legged table.
-
OK, Joy has stability, not distraction.
-
When you understand it, the fear of God can be both in you and on
-
you. It is, yes, important for you to
-
have a fear of God, but there's a fear of God that comes on you
-
that's vitally important for your witness in the earth and
-
for what God's doing in the earth.
-
OK, So what is the, we're going to talk about that in a little
-
bit. So you got it.
-
Frayed fear of God, reverence, all worship, fear of God can be
-
in you versus on you. OK, so I want to go to some
-
essentials. I thought you'd get that one.
-
I thought you'd get that one. Fear God essentials.
-
OK, now if y'all are in the faster, y'all know what that
-
means? You know, y'all saw what I was
-
doing right there, right? Now, that brand was developed by
-
a Christian guys. That's my understanding.
-
OK, Christian guy, right? But this is the problem with the
-
fear of God. And in some senses, yes, it's a
-
exaltation of God and a Christian statement.
-
But it's more judgment than a Christian statement, I believe.
-
Why? How many folks walk around with
-
the Fear of a God sweatshirt with essentials on it and don't
-
fear God? How many are clothed in the fear
-
of God but have none in their heart?
-
How many are more thinking about it as a statement of how my my
-
my brand is a statement of my, of my belief, of my posture, of
-
my place in the world, but have No Fear of God?
-
How many folks don't want the Fear of God clothes but the name
-
on a on a $50 sweatshirt is enough?
-
I want as little as I can but be identified with as much of it as
-
I can. I don't want to spend $500 on
-
the shirt and the 7:50 for the pants.
-
All I want is a $50 sweatshirt and just to fall into the brand
-
Fear God should be more than that.
-
It shouldn't be something you have to put on your chest to let
-
people know you do. It'll be something in your life
-
that people reflect back to you clearly.
-
You fear God, man. That's one of the differences
-
between the end and the on. So fear of God Essentials 1
-
reverent, trusting, resting and relying on God's word.
-
Not the God's word, but relying on God's word.
-
I had first there relying on the word and I changed it to God's
-
word, but we forgot to take out the the Why did I change it?
-
Thank you for asking. Because thank you.
-
You think I felt. I felt the ask.
-
I felt the ask. I felt the ask.
-
Yeah. I felt the critique too.
-
I felt, I felt. I felt a little of the shade.
-
You're a lawyer man. How you?
-
Yeah, I felt the shade. But the fear of gods that gonna
-
have me just walk right past that and go to the interest
-
rather than the shade. Why did I change it?
-
Because when I say the word, often times we think of the
-
Scripture. When I say God's word, that
-
means everyone in the book and everyone that He speaks.
-
That was my marker. It's a reverence for all of
-
God's word, not just the written word, but the spoken word as
-
well. It is essential that the walk in
-
the fear of God. You have to reverend reverence
-
for God's word. You can't say I fear God and
-
have no reverence for His Word. I'm not talking about you take a
-
Bible and you put on a shelf and put a light on it and you bow
-
down before it. That's idolatry.
-
I'm talking about a reverence for when God speaks it means
-
something to you. A reverence that says I'm not
-
going to bend the Word to fit my circumstance, even if it goes
-
against what my desire is. I'm going to say God have mercy
-
on me. Help me to fit what the Word
-
says rather than make the Word fit without how I want to live.
-
A reverence for the Word says this, that the Old Testament is
-
as important as the New Testament because it's all God's
-
word. And the Old Testament gives me a
-
context for understanding the New Testament.
-
It's a reverence and a trusting and relying on the Word of God.
-
You cannot have a fear of God that goes beyond your the Word
-
of God. When the fear of God shows up,
-
often times it's because a word has been preached and been
-
released and it's your receiving of that word that brings the
-
fear of God. Pastor comes up and we're and
-
we're ministering and and doing things and he says this, the
-
Lord is here. How much reverence do you have
-
for that declaration? The Lord is here.
-
God is here. How much do you go like, yeah,
-
yo, thanks pastor, and take a drink.
-
How much do you take that moment?
-
And with reverence in your heart said the Lord is here.
-
And with the reverence of your heart, you take a beat and you
-
say glory to God out of just recognition of the announcement
-
that God is here, the reverence for the word of God, you know.
-
Vancouver Whitecaps holla They doing something for a change.
-
Miami FC came up, Messi came up, right?
-
Not not not the first time Messi came up.
-
He created a messy OK, we got to get a better one man, work on it
-
OK, that's the homework. OK, He created a messy.
-
Why the word of messy coming caused people to change their
-
lives. The word of messy coming the
-
first time 'cause people to sell stuff and buy $1000 tickets,
-
arrange their Dimes, arrange their dates, get off work,
-
transfer things. The word of messy coming was
-
enough for people to say I'm going to change my life and
-
respond as if it's true. They had a reverence for The
-
word of messy coming, and when he didn't show up, they got
-
upset. Why?
-
Because I changed my life for that word.
-
OK, he came up this time and he put pictures up ready.
-
Folks made changes, but it wasn't the same.
-
All of a sudden, they don't believe him at the word as much
-
anymore. But yet a lot of people still
-
made those same changes even though he didn't come up the
-
first time. If people are going to have that
-
kind of reverence for the word of Messi, how much want should
-
we have reverence for the word of God?
-
And this is what Pastor's talking about.
-
On Sunday, Pastor will say on Wednesday, we'll be here
-
declaring the word. How many of you all say, my God,
-
I've got to be there for the word of God to be declared and
-
hear it or how many of y'all go like a good pastor?
-
You know I'm busy though, right? How much reverence do you have
-
for the word of God? It's not a we're not trying to
-
train you and bind you to a chair.
-
We're checking your heart posture with it.
-
We're giving you objective measures by which you can check
-
your heart, right. It's not about you necessarily
-
being here for everything. I don't like your excuse me, You
-
don't have to be here that that much, right?
-
No, really, it's not about behind in a in a seat.
-
It's about your heart posture. When someone says I've God has
-
let me know that the guy's going to release his word afresh and a
-
new on Wednesday. How many y'all go?
-
I went last Wednesday. Why don't y'all try living off
-
last Wednesday's breath today and see how that's going to work
-
for you? Let's, let's try living off last
-
Wednesday's meal where they haven't eaten nothing but since
-
that time and this and see that's going to work for you.
-
Reverence for the Word of God, because the Word of God also
-
includes Jesus because He is the living Word.
-
Deuteronomy 8 says this. And he humbled you and allows
-
you to hunger, and he fed you with manna, which you did not
-
know, nor did your Father's know.
-
Sometimes God, you know, the pastor talked about appointed
-
sufferings. He says he allowed you to hunger
-
because he's trying to show you something bigger than your belly
-
that he might make you recognize and personally know that man
-
does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that
-
proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord.
-
That's a Deuteronomy. See Matthew 4 down there.
-
That's what Jesus quotes when he quotes to the to the devil and
-
the temptation. That's the verse.
-
It's not a New Testament thing to live by every word that
-
proceeds out of the mouth of God.
-
It's an Old Testament reference. And why is that critically
-
important? Because the Old Testament only
-
had the oral word of God. The Old Testament posture was we
-
come into a Tabernacle, the half priest goes in and he brings a
-
word from God out to us. What is God saying today for us?
-
What is God speaking today to us?
-
The prophets of the Old Testament were charged with
-
going and hearing the word of the Lord and bringing the word
-
of the Lord. What am I speaking to is having
-
reverence for what God is saying.
-
So when you come into this experience and God releases a
-
word unto you from the anointed servants and messengers He gives
-
you, that is, it's important to Revere that as much as you would
-
this written word. You Revere them the same, but
-
you hold them differently. If the written word doesn't
-
change, it anchors you differently.
-
The spoken word you Revere, but you write it.
-
You go back to it. They continually refine your
-
hearing to make sure that what God has said is what you
-
actually heard. We're back in the back and I
-
asked the music team about a song.
-
I said, listen, I'm talking about the fear of God.
-
And I say, where's the fear of God in this song?
-
And someone, you know, eventually asked a question.
-
He says, well, if there's No Fear of God in the song, then,
-
you know, tell me what song would have the fear of God in
-
it? And I told him I didn't say it
-
wasn't any fear of God in the song, but someone heard me ask,
-
where is it? And heard that as being there is
-
none. I didn't say there was none.
-
The challenge was you tell me where it is so I can anchor and
-
be ready to celebrate and and get myself dialed in and see it
-
the way you see it. That's the importance of the
-
when you get a verbal word of the Lord of writing it down, you
-
have to do that work. Why?
-
Because your lens will cause you to hear something different than
-
what was said. So you Revere them the same, but
-
you hold them differently. OK, if you got keys, everyone
-
say keys. The written word is the master
-
key. I don't make copy.
-
I don't cut keys off the master. I take the master key and I make
-
one copy. Then I make my copies off the
-
copy. I don't make my copies off the
-
master because every time I take the master and make a copy, I
-
degrade the master key and eventually over time the master
-
key won't be able to master anything.
-
The written word is the master key.
-
I hold that differently than I do the copies of the keys that I
-
made. Both can open locks.
-
Both. If they're lost, someone can get
-
in and take my stuff. I hold them differently, but I
-
reference them the same. Makes sense.
-
Hebrews 9 verse 4 says this. It had the golden altar of
-
incense with the Ark of the Covenant.
-
It had the golden altar of incense in the Ark of the
-
Covenant, covered with over with rock gold.
-
The ark contained a golden jar which helped the manner we just
-
we just we just reference that that being the word of the Lord
-
and the rod of Aaron resurrection life or life and
-
slabs of the covenant to take commandments, which is more of
-
the word. So in the ark of the covenant
-
was the written word the the the given word of God and the life
-
of God represented. Jesus says my words are spirit
-
and they are life. At the heart of the ark was the
-
Word. At the heart of the glory was
-
the Word. At the heart of the power and
-
the presence that went before Israel and destroyed enemies as
-
represented by the ark was the Word of God.
-
There is No Fear of God truly without a reference for the Word
-
of God. And if you can sit every day and
-
not read it, If you can come and he give it and not take a note.
-
If you can listen to it and not apply it.
-
If you think it's because you got up yesterday and today that
-
you don't get up tomorrow and it's not God's life and breath,
-
the word sustaining you, that you are not referencing the word
-
of God the way that you should. When you think Sunday coming to
-
church is an optional thing or fit within my calendar, you're
-
not referencing the word of God the way that you should.
-
When you come to church late and on your own time with a heart
-
posture, whatever you want to come in here with rather than a
-
heart to glorify God and and to receive that, you're not
-
reverencing the word of God the way that you should.
-
That's not a get on. That's a coach up because y'all
-
here so y'all here. So don't get condemnation by
-
that. Let that challenge you.
-
Just challenge your heart posture and say, man, am I late
-
because I want to be or as I'm late because I have no choice
-
but to be? Challenge your own heart posture
-
because you cannot have the fear of God without a reverence for
-
the Word of God. Amen, Amen.
-
That's Part 1. I know, it's so good, right?
-
Right. It's so good.
-
Part 2 is even better. So I encourage you to come on
-
back for Part 2. I'm going to close out in
-
prayer. Let's take a moment and let the
-
Spirit of God just shift your heart a little bit.
-
I'm going to close out in a prayer.
-
You can sit, you can stand. It's up to you.
-
Father, forgive us what? We haven't reverenced your word.
-
We say we fear you, God, but we haven't reverenced your word in
-
a way that reflects it. We haven't honored your word and
-
taking you at your word in the way that says we trust you and
-
know that you're a God. Know that you're immutable.
-
Know that you don't change your mind.
-
Know that you're all powerful. God.
-
Forgive us what we have and honored and reverenced your
-
Word. Father, we're asking that by
-
your Spirit and by your grace that the anointing of God will
-
flow upon us and our community and this church and everyone
-
under the sound of my voice to bring us a place of reverencing
-
the Word of God. Reverencing the Word of God out
-
of the fear of God. Not out of idolatry, not out of
-
the manipulation, not out of control, not out of self help,
-
not out of wanting a better life or a better lifestyle.
-
Let us reverence the Word of God because it comes from a gloving
-
father and an omnipotent, gracious Almighty God.
-
Let a let a reverence for the word of God, all of it, the hard
-
parts, the soft parts, the thorny parts, the sweet parts,
-
the bitter parts, the challenging parts.
-
Let us have a reverence for it all, God, the written word, the
-
spoken word, every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God
-
when it's in a wisdom session or prophetic word from a platform.
-
God, we're asking for a change of heart by your grace.
-
We're asking God to let us be really rooted in a reverence and
-
a fear of the word of God unlike anything we've ever seen before.
-
A reverence for the Word of God that so strikes us to the core
-
that when we read it, we read it with the fear of trembling.
-
Not a fall back, but a fall. Lynch, you say God, I'm Speaking
-
of community with my Father and the make of the universe.
-
Let's reverence the Word of God so completely that we speak it
-
with power and authority, knowing that the word we're
-
speaking is the word of the God of the universe.
-
Father, we thank you for a reverence for the Word of God
-
transform our lives. God, we yield our hearts.
-
We render hearts. What does random mean?
-
We open our hearts ourselves. We tear away the pride
-
ourselves. We tear away the issues
-
ourselves. We tear away the idolatry
-
ourselves. We tear away all the things that
-
have gotten in the way, the things that we've built.
-
We tear them away God and open ourselves up God with the works
-
of our own hands. We cast down our own idols that
-
we might Revere the Word of God in the way that allows us to
-
walk more fully in the fear of God, because we understand God.
-
That sometimes the fear of God follows the reverence for the
-
Word, not the other way around. You've already said your son
-
Jesus. There can be no greater display
-
of your love and your power and your authority than that.
-
And if the Word of Jesus is not enough to get us to fear you and
-
reverence you God, then your appearing in a flame of fire in
-
our midst will be insufficient. So Father, we reverence your
-
word for it leads us to you. We reverence your word for we
-
can stand on it. We reverence your word for us, a
-
light into our path, a lamp into our feet.
-
It guides us at times of darkness and trial and
-
challenge. It sustains us and anchors us
-
and it cures us and it establishes us.
-
God, God, we are people who fear the fear the Lord because we're
-
people who reverence the word of the Lord in Jesus name.
-
Hey man, hey man, hey man, now don't clap yet.
-
Don't clap yet. Put them on purposely clap.
-
But you heard that prayer and even more than heard that
-
prayer. Hopefully you felt that prayer.
-
And if you agree with what was prayed, if you feeling, what was
-
the, the, the feeling that was released, if you're really
-
saying God, yes, that's me. Count me in on that with a
-
sincerity, not a Patty cake thing at the end because someone
-
stopped speaking. If you really believe that, then
-
let your clap reflect that heart consecration to God.
-
Now you can clap at the end of the prayer.
-
Now the time to clap. But let your clap reflect God.
-
Yes, that's what I want. Transfer transform me.
-
It's Jesus name. Amen, Amen.
-
