  2. Wherever you're tuning in from, we hope you're encouraged by today's message.

  3. Hey, let's- We're gonna clap.

  4. Let's put our hands together for Jesus.

  5. Come on.

  6. He's worthy.

  7. Worthy, worthy.

  8. I want to say welcome to all of our locations.

  9. Everybody joining us online, our gateway gatherings, our prison campuses, and of course, anybody that's joining us for the very first time, we want to say a big welcome to you.

  10. Come on, all across church life.

  11. Let's put our hands together and welcome those with us for the first time, first time in a long time.

  12. And of course, I've got to give a big shout out to our Jackson Hole campus.

  13. Tammy and I had the honor of being there last week.

  14. You just gotta know you got some family in Jackson Hole, and God is moving, packed house, and uh we're seeing people saved, getting water baptized, connected into community.

  15. Um, God's doing some great stuff there with the team, and uh it was a pleasure to be there.

  16. And I gotta say, everybody, when you land and the Grand Tetons are on your left, it's it's kind of like I was like, maybe we should make that the broadcast location.

  17. And I'm joking, I'm kidding.

  18. Sort of.

  19. Wanna uh also give a big shout out to our Grand Prairie campus.

  20. If you're not familiar with it, um for I think several years now I've been having a mobile food bank once a month, um, just caring for those who are food insecure in that community.

  21. And um, week before last, you gotta know this, cross the one millionth pound mark of donating food into that community.

  22. And I say that because there's so many amazing things happening across the life of the church, and you don't always get to know about them.

  23. But I just want to say too a big thank you to everybody that gives so faithfully.

  24. Your generosity is making a massive difference in the lives of people.

  25. And I want you to know this you don't give to a church, but you give through a church.

  26. Because as you give through the church, ministry is happening, lives are being touched, not only around the world, but in the neighborhoods, in the DFW and in Wyoming.

  27. And so God's doing some great stuff.

  28. Marriage night this weekend, everybody.

  29. That was a wonderful time together.

  30. Some of you were here, great.

  31. It was a wonderful time.

  32. And next Sunday, I want you to know this before we get into the word.

  33. Next Sunday, we're beginning a brand new series called Made for More.

  34. Made for More.

  35. You were made for more.

  36. And I don't know the exact more you were made for, like God's specific calling.

  37. You gotta wrestle that out with the Lord.

  38. But I do know some things from Scripture that all of us as believers were made for.

  39. And uh, and I want to give you this thought.

  40. You weren't made to do more, you were just made to do what God's created you to do.

  41. And some of you think made for more, and you're like, I have no time in my schedule for more.

  42. That's not what I'm talking about.

  43. But you were made to do what God has called you to do.

  44. And I know there's some specific things, four of them we're gonna talk about over the month of October.

  45. Then it's gonna be Thanksgiving and Christmas, and welcome to 2026, everybody.

  46. Just like that.

  47. All right, let's go to the Lord in prayer.

  48. Father, we love you.

  49. Holy Spirit, speak to us.

  50. We need it.

  51. Our hearts and minds are open, and we pray this in Jesus' name.

  52. Everybody said, Amen.

  53. Amen.

  54. We're in the final week of Happy But Hollow.

  55. And uh, if we've been walking through the book of Philippians, I want to bring a message titled today, When Enough Is Never Enough.

  56. This is where Paul lands us in chapter four, When Enough Is Never Enough.

  57. Anyone remember the very first car that you ever got?

  58. Anyone remember?

  59. Okay, I remember mine.

  60. I was 16, living in Kingsport, Tennessee.

  61. I grew up in Upper East Tennessee, so I speak English and Hillbilly fluently.

  62. Grew up in Tennessee where men are men, and so are the women.

  63. And I'm joking, I'm joking.

  64. If you're from, forgive me, if you're from Tennessee, you know I'm right though.

  65. Um but I remember I got my very first car, it was to use a 1990 Ford Mustang hatchback five speed.

  66. Come on, somebody.

  67. It wasn't a 5-0, so don't get too excited.

  68. Didn't have that engine, but five speed in the floor, and I I thought that was the greatest thing ever.

  69. I was just like, I can never have a better car in my life.

  70. Like pulling up the school in that, I mean the cred that I got, rolling up, you know.

  71. I laid the seat back a little bit.

  72. Come on, y'all know what I'm talking about.

  73. So you could get the arms stretched out.

  74. Okay, you gotta do.

  75. And so I I remember that, and I would wash that thing all the time.

  76. I'm a little, I'm a little bit of a clean freak, but I washed it all the time.

  77. I armor alled everything in the car.

  78. I had toothpicks, I had Q-tips.

  79. I mean, I was cleaning this thing.

  80. I'm a little obsessive about things being everything has a place and it should go in this place.

  81. And once you meet Jesus, you'll realize that.

  82. I'm kidding.

  83. Okay.

  84. So, I mean, I was cleaning, I would armor all the leather seats.

  85. If you took a heart turn too hard, you would kind of slide against the door.

  86. You know what I'm talking about?

  87. Like, and I was so content with that car until my buddy got a new car.

  88. And then I was like, I didn't feel about that car the way I once did.

  89. How many of you know that that's life a lot of times?

  90. That all of a sudden you're so happy with something, and then something else comes along, or you see a newer model, or you see a newer opportunity, or you see the bigger, and all of a sudden, what used to give you contentment in your heart no longer is there anymore.

  91. And we live often in this race of enough is never enough.

  92. And the line keeps moving.

  93. And what I thought would give me contentment no longer gives me contentment.

  94. And we live in the when-then syndrome.

  95. When this happens, then I'll be.

  96. When this gets done, then I'll when the kids get out of the house, then I'll when I get the promotion, then I'll whenever I land the next deal, get the next contract, make the next commission, then I'll, whenever I get into the school I want, and then we live this when-then life.

  97. And this is what Paul, and I just give you a warning, this is what he's gonna confront in Philippians chapter 4.

  98. That he's confronting this whole thing of living this discontent life, and and he's gonna tell us how to not live that way.

  99. And I want you to lean into this message today.

  100. If you're with me, say amen.

  101. And I've discovered over the journey of life that as I thought, man, that was just a one-time thing, I found in my own type A-driven mindset that this is a constant battle to live content, to have a to have a inner peace and rest in my soul.

  102. And the Bible calls it contentment.

  103. Now, I've also discovered there's there's a couple things, maybe more, but I'll give you two that'll rob your contentment.

  104. If you're the note-taking type, write this down.

  105. If not, write it down anyways.

  106. Number one is this, it's the cares of this world.

  107. You could write the word cares.

  108. Here's what happens the cares of life come at us, and we all have them.

  109. Even if you're here and you're like, I don't know that I believe the Bible or I'm into church yet, you experience the cares of this world, and when cares arise, does this not happen?

  110. We move into control mode.

  111. Something happens that knocks the equilibrium off, something happens that that causes us to get out of sorts, control steps in, and then what happens?

  112. Anxiety steps in.

  113. Because you can't control everything, and when you realize you can't control everything, it begins to create anxious feelings in you.

  114. And anxiety will tell you many lies, but two main lies.

  115. God doesn't care about what you're going through, or God doesn't understand what you're going through and is unwilling to do anything about it.

  116. And so the cares of this world.

  117. This is what Jesus was talking about in Mark chapter 4.

    Mark 4 chapter mention

  118. If you remember the parable of the farmer and the sower, if you're with me, say amen.

  119. And he talked about four different types of seed, right?

  120. He talked about the seed that landed on the path, and the birds came along, and they plucked up the seed so it never took root.

  121. And then he talks about the seed that fell on rocky soil, and there wasn't enough good soil there that the plant began to grow, but then the sun came and it killed out the plant because the roots were not deep enough.

  122. Then he talked about the seed that was planted among thorns and it began to grow, but the thorns began to push the plant out.

  123. And then he talked about the seed that landed on good soil, and it produced 30, 60, 90, 100fold.

  124. If you're with me, say amen.

  125. And then he pulls the disciples aside because this is the brilliance of his teaching, and he would say, Now let me tell you what I was really saying.

  126. Do you understand this?

  127. And all the obviously they were always like, No, we don't have any idea.

  128. And so he would tell them, and he said, the first one is the seed is planted, but Satan comes and steals the seed of God's word.

  129. The second one, he says, is that the seed gets planted, but whenever pressure comes or suffering or hard times come, because you weren't rooted deeply in the word of God, then you end up running away and you give up and quit.

  130. And he said, then the third one, and he says this in Mark 4.19, he said, and the third one, the thorns represent, and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires of other things enter in and they choke out the word.

  131. So watch this.

  132. It's not that the word of God is ineffective, the word of God is powerful, it's sharper than a double-edged sword, it does not return void, it accomplishes what it was sent out to do.

  133. So the potency of the word of God is never the problem.

  134. The soil of our heart is always the problem.

  135. Hello.

  136. God's word isn't in question.

  137. The soil is in question.

  138. And what happens is the cares of world, of the world, he said, begin to choke out the word of God in our life.

  139. So you can know all day that if I'll present my request unto God, then the peace of God that passes understanding will fill my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, but the truth of that word will get choked out by the cares of this world.

  140. Are y'all tracking with me?

  141. You can know all day that God has good plans for me and they're to prosper me and not to harm me, to give me a hope and a future.

  142. You can understand that intellectually, but it doesn't take root in you because the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches and the desire for other things get in and choke it out.

  143. Not only the cares of this world, but comparison will steal your contentment.

  144. Living life, looking at what everybody else, trying to keep up with the Joneses, as they used to say, will begin to choke out contentment in your life.

  145. And can I tell you something?

  146. Most of the time we're comparing someone else's highlight reel to our everyday life.

  147. What they post wasn't real, everybody.

  148. It took 20 shots to get that photo because they were yelling at the kids.

  149. Are y'all?

  150. Nobody's posting real life.

  151. Are y'all tracking with me?

  152. No, nobody, they're like, delete the picture, retake it.

  153. Delete the picture, retake.

  154. Oh, the saints are here this morning.

  155. Y'all don't ever do that.

  156. Everybody's posting the highlight reel, and you're comparing your chaos to what looks like their beautiful Disney vacation.

  157. They're all holding Mickey bars.

  158. The part you didn't see was the mom going, if you don't straighten up when I get you to the hotel room.

  159. And so we're comparing comparing everybody's highlight reel to our behind the scenes.

  160. And it'll rob your contentment.

  161. And it'll keep you from celebrating the wins of others.

  162. And encouraging the goodness of God and others.

  163. Paul addresses this in 2 Corinthians chapter 10 and verse 12.

    2 Corinthians 10 chapter mention

  164. Listen what he says about comparison.

  165. He said, We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves.

  166. In other words, we're not comparing to people that go, hey, look at me.

  167. They commend themselves.

  168. And then he says this when they measure themselves by themselves, there's a lot of themselves in here, okay?

  169. And compare themselves with themselves.

  170. What does he say?

  171. They are not wise.

  172. Why?

  173. Because it'll steal your contentment.

  174. Comparison is a bottomless pit that'll rob you of joy, of peace, of seeing the goodness of God in your life.

  175. Let me give you a working definition of contentment, is this it's a spirit-led confidence that Jesus is enough.

  176. That's contentment.

  177. It's a spiritual discipline and it's a supernatural attitude.

  178. It is a confidence that Jesus is enough.

  179. And this is what Paul addresses in Philippians 4 as we close out this series, verse 10 through 13.

  180. Look what he says.

  181. He says, But I rejoice in the Lord greatly that at now, that now at last your care for me has flourished again, though you surely did care, but you lacked opportunity.

  182. So time out real quick.

  183. The context of this is part of the letter, the overall theme of Philippians is joy, but part of what he's doing in the letter is wanting to thank them for their generosity to the ministry.

  184. They had given gifts to the ministry, and part of the letter was to say thank you.

  185. And this is what he's addressing here when he says, I rejoice greatly that that your care for me has flourished again.

  186. In other words, they had sent another gift, and he said, But I also want you to know that I understand you cared for me even when you had no opportunity to give.

  187. So I'm not just saying that your giving is your reflection of caring.

  188. I understood you cared regardless.

  189. If that makes sense, amen.

  190. Okay.

  191. And now in verse 11, he says this, but not that I speak in regard to need.

  192. So I'm not asking for your giving because I'm in some state of need.

  193. Timeout.

  194. If you remember, Paul is under house arrest.

  195. I mean, just think about the perspective here.

  196. He's under house arrest, Roman guards are around him, he's writing this letter, and he's about to go to Caesar, and he doesn't know if Caesar will befriend him or behead him.

  197. And he says, But I'm not writing you out of need.

  198. That's contentment.

  199. He says, For I've learned in whatever state I am to be content.

  200. I know what it is to be abase.

  201. In other words, I know what it is to have nothing, and I know what it is to abound.

  202. He said, I've, you know, I've had moments where all I was doing was winning and growing and abounding.

  203. Then he says, This, everywhere and in all things.

  204. My Greek professor told me that all means all, and that's all all means.

  205. He said, I've learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

  206. And then here's the famous verse that we see in the end zone of games, right?

  207. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

  208. I hate to burst your bubble.

  209. That doesn't mean you can win the marathon.

  210. That doesn't mean that you can win the football game.

  211. Did I just ruin your favorite verse?

  212. What Paul is saying is through Christ I can be content.

  213. That's what he gives me power to do.

  214. So let me give you three thoughts on contentment.

  215. Write these down.

  216. Number one, contentment is learned.

  217. It's learned.

  218. It wasn't built into the hardwareing of your system.

  219. I can promise you that.

  220. Actually, the opposite was built into us.

  221. But contentment can be learned.

  222. In Philippians 4.11, let's read it again.

  223. He says, Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am to be content.

  224. I've learned.

  225. In other words, I didn't always have this.

  226. This isn't always how I operated, but I've had to learn this, that whatever state I am, that I can be content.

  227. And here's the deal.

  228. I think sometimes we struggle, and I found in my own life, that I struggle with contentment is because I think that real contentment will be found on the other side of whatever I see as a current limitation or a current lid in my life.

  229. That I think if I could just break through that lid, or if I could just remove that limitation, or if I could just grow beyond that thing that I feel like is a barrier in the way to my contentment, then contentment is on the other side of that.

  230. But what Paul is learning us or teaching us, learning us, I grew up in Tennessee, everybody.

  231. What Paul is teaching us is that contentment isn't an outside job, it is an inside job.

  232. That it's not based on the circumstances around me.

  233. That Paul goes, I know what it is to have a lot.

  234. I know what it is for my limits to be great and to be expansive, and I know what it is to have a little for the limitations in my life to have crunched down on me.

  235. I understand both situations.

  236. I've been on the mountaintop and I've been in the valley.

  237. I've been hugely successful by the world's standards, and I have been hugely a failure by the world's standards.

  238. And in the middle of all of it, I haven't allowed the circumstances around me to dictate the peace or the contentment within me.

  239. I have learned how to be content.

  240. And this is what God wants for you and God wants for me.

  241. That your contentment is not on the other side of some boundary that you want to break through.

  242. That contentment isn't when, then.

  243. When this happens, then I'll be content.

  244. It isn't found there.

  245. Paul said, I've learned that no matter what I'm going through, and here's what I love about Paul saying, I learned, it indicates to us that there were some days he got it right and some days he got it wrong.

  246. That there were some moments of failure and some moments of winning, and that should encourage you today.

  247. That there's going to be these moments.

  248. But Paul goes, in this journey, I have learned this.

  249. I've learned that even within my limitations, and can I tell you something?

  250. There really is no limitless life.

  251. And we live in this more culture, and we live in this hustle culture, and we live in this get ahead culture and step over whoever you have to step over.

  252. But the reality is we all have limits.

  253. You have mental limits, you have emotional limits, you have relational limits, you have time limits.

  254. God isn't making any more time for you.

  255. You have financial limits, and you're like, well, I'd like to have their financial limits.

  256. Have you ever noticed that when we compare, we always compare to someone that has more than us and never to someone that has less than us?

  257. There are always limits in life.

  258. And so contentment isn't found outside the limit.

  259. Contentment is found when I learn to have a divine sense of peace, no matter the circumstance around me.

  260. I said it earlier, chaos can be all around you.

  261. But as a spirit-filled believer, chaos doesn't have to be inside you.

  262. This is what Paul's trying to tell us.

  263. He's learned it.

  264. I love the verse in Psalm 16:6 that says this my boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places.

    Psalms 16:6

  265. I have a delightful inheritance.

  266. Contentment is this.

  267. Contentment is wanting more of what God wants, and nothing of what God doesn't want for you.

  268. Because I know for some of you, my type A-driven people like me, right now, you're like, but I want to grow and I want to achieve and I want to go after it.

  269. And I'm there with you.

  270. And so let me say this to you: contentment doesn't mean complacency.

  271. Contentment isn't your excuse to move to the mountains and watch the migratory patterns of birds.

  272. And to go, I'm just being content.

  273. No, that that isn't contentment isn't complacency because we learned in chapter three that the Apostle Paul was the one that said, I press forward to the upward calling of God in Christ Jesus.

  274. If anyone had this aggressive spirit to do more and to break through the limits and break through the barriers, well, Pastor, are you talking about so sides of your mouth?

  275. No, what I'm saying is that you should want more of what God wants for you.

  276. And discontentment comes whenever you start chasing the things that God never meant for you to have.

  277. And you end up with discontentment and anxiety and pressure, you end up like the Rockefeller.

  278. J.D.

  279. Rockefeller, and by the time he was 53, had ulcers and all these health issues.

  280. And someone asks him, Well, how much more money is enough?

  281. And he goes, just a little bit more.

  282. God, the blessing of God comes and it brings no sorrow.

  283. So if the more that you have in your hand is bringing sorrow into your life, then maybe you're chasing what God doesn't have for you.

  284. Because when God gives it to you, God gives you the capacity to hold it and to steward it and to care for it and to manage it.

  285. And with contentment and peace in your heart, all at the same time.

  286. Come on, can we get a better amen in the house of God?

  287. So contentment is learned.

  288. Number two, contentment is perspective.

  289. Contentment is perspective.

  290. Paul said this Philippians chapter 4, verse 12, the very next verse.

    Philippians 4:12

  291. He said, I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty.

  292. And I've learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.

  293. I just believe for the Apostle Paul to be able to pin those words that contentment gave him a different perspective than maybe even what we're used to.

  294. That it helped him to see things through the lens of how God was looking at them.

  295. Can I tell you something?

  296. How you see a thing will determine how you respond and how you live.

  297. It's so important the lens that you put on in life.

  298. It's so important that you look through things through the eyes of faith and not through the eyes of fear, because when you begin to put on the wrong perspective, then you'll have the wrong responses.

  299. And Paul is saying, I've learned this secret in the middle of it.

  300. And I don't know exactly what the secret is, but I kind of have a clue because of some of the other things that Paul said whenever he would say, like, rejoice, and again I say rejoice.

  301. I think Paul had this, I think Paul had this faith perspective that said, no matter what is going on, I'm gonna look at it through the lens that God is up to something, and that God is up to something good.

  302. Can I just tell you something?

  303. And I know I'm not saying that life is a bed of roses and things aren't challenging.

  304. I've walked through my own pain and had the moments in the middle of the night at 2 a.m.

  305. wake up thinking I'm gonna have a heart attack.

  306. And God, where are you?

  307. I've walked through those.

  308. I'm not saying I'm not trying to downplay pain in your life.

  309. I'm just saying that in the middle of it, if you can get a little seed, a mustard seed of faith, to go, God, I know that you are up to something in the middle of this because you are good and you are faithful, and if it's not good yet, it's not God yet.

  310. And so I'm gonna look at it through the eyes of faith.

  311. I think Paul had a spirit of gratitude.

  312. Gratitude is the gateway to joy.

  313. Gratitude invites the presence of God.

  314. I think it's why the Bible says we enter his gates with thanksgiving.

  315. That's where he wants us to start.

  316. I mean, how how much more do you want to do for all the parents in the room or aunts and uncles or people that stand in that parent role?

  317. How many of you want to do more whenever your kid's grateful?

  318. How many of you just when you don't have to ask for it, when you don't have to be like, say thank you.

  319. Okay, maybe I'm the only one that has to do that training.

  320. Tell them thank you.

  321. How many of you know you want to do more for him, right?

  322. I remember Jonas, our six-year-old.

  323. Um he's he's a whole vibe, everybody.

  324. I mean, he's a whole package.

  325. Like he's he's a he's gonna be a problem later in life.

  326. The good kind of problem.

  327. I'm not speaking death over him.

  328. Okay.

  329. But I remember one Christmas morning when uh he's six, I think I don't know if he was four or what.

  330. Um, but Tammy always gets the kids, we get them toys, but she gets the kids clothes, which is always the favorite gift of the children to get clothes.

  331. And so Jonas is ripping, you know, he's ripping the packages open and he's throwing the clothes like this over his shoulders.

  332. And like, where are the real gifts?

  333. And I think he may even like begin a full meltdown, you know, of like thinking there are no real gifts, and where is Santa?

  334. To which I'm like, I'm Santa because I'm not giving somebody else credit for money I spent.

  335. And so just a little parenting tip for you there.

  336. It's not a parenting series, but I worked hard for that, and uh so it's something in me is like, you're gonna be grateful.

  337. Your mom picked out those clothes, you know.

  338. And I wonder sometimes if God isn't just blessing us and what it looks like from heaven is just going, I don't want that, and I don't want that, and I don't want that.

  339. And God's going, maybe if you just changed your perspective to a spirit of gratitude.

  340. God, I may not be where I want to be yet, but I'm just grateful that your grace has sustained me another day.

  341. Come on, I'm just gonna enter his courts.

  342. I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm gonna determine to build the muscle of gratitude in my life where I just see the goodness of God around every turn.

  343. Well, Pastor, I lost the contract and I didn't get into the school I want, and I went on the date with the guy, and he thought he was a man, turned out to be a boy.

  344. Girls break up with the boys.

  345. Wait till they turn into a man.

  346. Maybe you just change your perspective and go, God saved me from a bad business deal with a bad business partner, and God redirected my steps to the right college around the right relationships I needed to be in.

  347. And come on, God spared me from marrying the dead bee that lives in this mom's basement instead of glory to God.

  348. Remember, I'm grateful.

  349. Come on, I'm even grateful for the goodness.

  350. Let me just take a moment and say, God, we're just grateful for your goodness that I'm alive.

  351. Come on, grateful to be alive today.

  352. Grateful to be in the house of God.

  353. Come on, grateful to be in the best church that number one.

  354. Come on, we're just grateful today.

  355. All right, number three, last thought.

  356. And uh we'll close in prayer and pray over the cowboys.

  357. They need it.

  358. I've I've become a fan and it's increased my prayer life.

  359. Number three.

  360. Let's just have an altar call right now.

  361. Number three, contentment is supernatural.

  362. Contentment is supernatural.

  363. Philippians chapter 4, verse 13, the famous verse.

    Philippians 4:13

  364. So Paul's talking about I've been abound and I've been abased.

  365. And I've had it all and I've had little, and and you know the Apostle Paul could have been much more descriptive in the text.

  366. Because when I think about a based, I think about shipwreck off the Isle of Malta, I think about getting bit by a viper and being called a devil.

  367. I think about getting beat and abused.

  368. I think about being in prison, in the inner cells of the dungeon, I think about being under house arrest as he writes the beautiful words of this letter to the church in Philippi.

  369. And then he says, I've abound.

  370. I think about all the accomplishments.

  371. Planning churches in Ephesus and Corinth and Philippi and writing these amazing epistles and debating with some of the greatest philosophers of the day in the Roman square and standing for faith in Christ.

  372. I just think about all those things, and he goes, but in the middle of all that, on the best days and the worst days, I've learned to be content.

  373. And then he says, This is how I can do all things through Christ.

  374. Because contentment is confidence that Jesus is enough.

  375. It's not Jesus plus the new house.

  376. And I hope you get the new house.

  377. I believe God wants to bless you, and the Bible says that he gives you things for your enjoyment.

  378. But it's not Jesus plus anything.

  379. It's not Jesus and anything.

  380. It's the confidence that Jesus is enough.

  381. And I have found that Jesus does some of his most beautiful work in our life.

  382. Whenever we finally get to the place of contentment, it's almost like he goes, Okay, now that you've learned that lesson, let me bless you with all the things that you used to strive for.

  383. Because now I can trust you that they won't own you.

  384. But I'll still be enough.

  385. Because contentment is supernatural, everybody.

  386. You weren't born with it.

  387. It's not an app you can download into your heart.

  388. It's something you learn through trial and error.

  389. And often it's something you learn in the valley.

  390. I think it was 2005 that there was a famous 60-minute interview with Tom Brady.

  391. And at that point, he had won three Super Bowl rings.

  392. He was being interviewed by Steve Croft.

  393. He was wildly successful and may go down in history as one of the greatest ever played the game.

  394. But in the interview, this is what he said, and I want to read it to you.

  395. He said, Why do I have three Super Bowl rings and still think there's something greater out there for me?

  396. And these are his words.

  397. I mean, maybe a lot of people would say, hey man, this is what it is.

  398. I reached my goal, my dream, my life.

  399. Me?

  400. I think, God, it's gotta be more than this.

  401. And then Steve Croft asked him, What do you think the answer is?

  402. And this was his response.

  403. I wish I knew.

  404. I wish I knew.

  405. Here's what he was saying.

  406. I've reached every goal I ever wanted to in life.

  407. And I still can't find contentment.

  408. And can I tell you something?

  409. I see too many believers living the same life.

  410. They love Jesus, they're living life, and they would say, I wish I knew.

  411. I wish I knew.

  412. Contentment isn't an outside job, it's an inside job.

  413. And it's the confidence that Jesus is enough.

  414. No matter what is going on around you.

  415. Doesn't mean you don't have drive, doesn't mean you can't have dreams, and that's not what it is.

  416. It's just saying those things don't have you.

  417. And that if they all went away today, Jesus is still enough.

  418. You received the word of God today.

  419. Let's pray together.

  420. Every head bowed, every eye closed across all of our campuses, and if you can, where you are online, there in our gatherings at the prison.

  421. And I would ask you just right where you're seated, that you have your own conversation with the Lord.

  422. Just ask the Spirit of God, am I living a content life?

  423. Am I really living in my deep in my soul that Jesus is enough?

  424. And maybe you're here today and you live with a lack of peace because you've never met the Prince of Peace.

  425. And you've reached the when and it still hasn't given you what you thought it would give you.

  426. It's because there's a part of you that it was made for God.

  427. And nothing else will fulfill that part of you.

  428. And that peace that you've been searching for only comes in a right relationship with Jesus.

  429. And the scripture tells us this that we're all sinners.

  430. And that's not meant to be a condemning statement.

  431. It's the reality of the human condition.

  432. I always tell people if you don't believe you're born with sin, you've never had a toddler.

  433. And it says that sin is the thing that separates us from a loving God, and God never wanted it that way, so he sent Jesus, his only son, into the earth to live the life that you and I could never live, a perfect life.

  434. And then he took the penalty of our sin and he died the death that really we deserved on the cross.

  435. And he says if you'll simply believe in your heart the resurrection and confess with your mouth that he's Lord, meaning it's not a word we use a lot today, but just meaning that he's in control, that you're surrendering to him.

  436. Doesn't mean you're you're stepping into perfection, and doesn't mean that I hear people say, well, when I get my life together, I'll come to God.

  437. No, it's just the opposite.

  438. You come to God and He'll begin on this journey of helping you get your life together.

  439. And so today I want to give you a simple invitation, and that's to receive the free gift of salvation, to receive forgiveness of sin.

  440. The Apostle Paul said it this way: if anybody's in Christ, they're a brand new creation.

  441. And so if you say today, I need a fresh start in God, and then I want you to invite you to join me in this prayer.

  442. And maybe you're here and you'd say, Pastor, I'm a Christian, I live in the South, but you know in your heart God's a million miles away.

  443. And today's the day, God's speaking to many of you.

  444. And this is the moment, this is why God had you here.

  445. Before I pray, I just want to know who I'm praying with.

  446. So I'm gonna count to three.

  447. No one's gonna come to you or embarrass you.

  448. But if you say that's me today, I need that fresh start.

  449. I want to know my sins are forgiven.

  450. I want to surrender my life to Jesus.

  451. Then when I count to three, you just shoot your hand up high enough and long enough for me to see, or your pastor at your campus to see.

  452. And then we're gonna pray together on three.

  453. One, two, three.

  454. You just shoot it up high in the air.

  455. God bless you.

  456. Just keep it up.

  457. God bless you all over the room.

  458. Amazing.

  459. I see you in the very, very back.

  460. God bless you.

  461. God sees you more importantly.

  462. It's beautiful.

  464. Church, let's pray this out loud for the benefit of those who just slip their hand up.

  465. We don't want anybody praying alone.

  466. Just say, Jesus, I need you.

  467. I ask you to forgive me of all my sin.

  468. I believe you died for me.

  469. I believe God raised you from the dead.

  470. Today I make you my Lord and Savior.

  471. Thank you for a brand new beginning.
