Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Love Quest International
-
Church Podcast, where we seek to love all nations, equip the
-
church, mobilize the equipped, and serve all.
-
We're super glad you're joining us from whenever and wherever
-
you're at in the world. Welcome to the family to get
-
your Bibles ready, get some water, get some coffee, maybe
-
some tea, and get ready to receive.
-
Let's get into it. What a great New Year's Eve
-
message we had. And now we're into this 21 days
-
of fasting and prayer and we're creating.
-
The name of our fast for January is make room.
-
We're making room. I want to encourage you as
-
you're in this time of prayer and fasting.
-
When we talk about making room, maybe sometimes that's making
-
room in my schedule. I'm making room, making room to
-
hear from God, making room to pray and read the word.
-
There's also making room in my heart, my affections before the
-
Lord. I'm making room for God to move.
-
Sometimes we're also making room in our mind, making room for our
-
minds to be transformed and renewed by the Word of God.
-
Make room in my thinking. Make room in the way I see
-
things. Making room because the the
-
world wants to clutter it with so many things.
-
Today's word specifically is making room, removing the
-
clutter from Hebrews 12 verse one.
-
I want to encourage you to have a look at that.
-
We're making room. We're making room.
-
Want to thank Pastor Terence and Pastor Julia for the blessing
-
that it is to be able to share the word today.
-
Thank you so much for trusting me to be able to share the word
-
from this platform. Thank you for your faithfulness
-
and your love for God to pursue what He put in your heart.
-
Today I'll be speaking about the Lord of hosts, the King of
-
glory, the Lord of hosts, the King of glory, following from
-
the Scripture from Psalm 24 that was used by Pastor Terence in
-
news even though so last week. I just want to read from verse 9
-
and 10. The scripture says lift up your
-
heads. Oh you gates, yes, lift them up.
-
You age abiding doors that the king of glory may come in.
-
Who is he then, this king of glory, the Lord of hosts?
-
He is the King of glory. Who is this king of glory?
-
He is the Lord of hosts. So New Year's Eve, Pastor
-
Terrance said this is the year of the host.
-
The host is another word for the armies of heaven.
-
This is the year of the host. The year with the Lord of hosts
-
is moving on our behalf. This is a year God is on the
-
move and we're going to continue with that subject, Pasteur and
-
said. We host the tent where glory can
-
rest. Who does it?
-
We do, we do. We host.
-
We're the ones who host the tent where the glory can rest.
-
I want to read from 2 Corinthians chapter 3 verse 7.
-
This says, but if the ministry of death.
-
Paul talks about the ministry of death as the law that was given
-
by Moses under the Old Testament.
-
But if the ministry of death written and engraved on stones
-
was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not
-
look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of
-
his countenance, which glory was passing away?
-
OK, can anyone read that? Say it again.
-
Let's say it like a question. What's that?
-
What? Good question.
-
What's that? OK, let's go see what that's all
-
about, because it's like, well, what's what's that story?
-
Where where did that come from? Who's this Moses, what's going
-
on? Well, we'll give you a brief
-
summary. Moses was instructed to bring
-
the children of Israel out of Egypt.
-
And after he had brought them out of Egypt, he went to Mount
-
Sinai. And when it was up there with
-
the Lord, he was given instructions.
-
And that's where the 10 commandments come from.
-
Who's heard of the 10 commandments?
-
OK. And so where he got the 10
-
commandments was actually at the top of Mount Sinai where he had
-
an encounter with the Lord. And in this time of encounter,
-
he was up there for 40 days and nights, and he didn't eat or
-
drink, but he was in the presence of God for 40 days and
-
40 nights. And so it says when Moses came
-
down Mount Sinai carrying the two stone tablets inscribed with
-
the terms of the covenant, the the 10 commandments, he wasn't
-
aware that his face had become radiant because he had spoken to
-
the Lord. So there was this encounter with
-
God, this time of presence with God.
-
And he said so powerful was that time, so impactful that it not
-
only was a time where he received and heard, but actually
-
his very face shone. The nature of his entire face
-
was radiating now the glory of God, the presence of God.
-
And so it says, he wasn't aware that his face had become radiant
-
because he had spoken to the Lord.
-
So when Aaron and the people of Israel saw the radiance of Moses
-
face, they were afraid to come near him.
-
I get that. I get that.
-
If if all of a sudden you came out of your your house and all
-
of a sudden your face is like radiating shining, I've gone.
-
Is there radiation nearby? Is there some sort of exposure?
-
We need to be worried about what's going on?
-
And so he actually shares with the people what God says.
-
And then after he shares what the Lord says, he actually wear
-
wore a veil. And then slowly that faded.
-
So let's go back to Two Corinthians chapter 3.
-
But if the ministry of death. So the law was given through
-
Moses, from God through Moses, but the law was put in place as
-
a placeholder, as a definer, so we could see where we miss it
-
with God. Paul writes about this in
-
Romans. Is it?
-
The law was not put in place to save us, it was put in place so
-
we could see how far we are from God.
-
But if this ministry of death written and engraved on stones
-
was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not
-
look steadily at the face of Moses, because the glory of his
-
countenance which glory was passing away, how will the
-
ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious?
-
See, this is the contrasting position.
-
If the law which was unable to save us was so amazing, so
-
powerful that Moses face shone, it was radiant that people
-
couldn't look at him. It was just too much glory.
-
There's too much going on. Paul's saying if that was the
-
law that was to pass away in and even that glory on Moses face
-
was to fade, how much more glorious will this ministry of
-
the Spirit this time of the Spirit not be more glorious.
-
You see, when when we come into this place of presence, we come
-
into the place of the presence of Almighty God, the glorious
-
One, the King of glory, we come into the place of power and the
-
importance of his glory. It continues on and says, For if
-
the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of
-
righteousness exceeds much more in glory.
-
So if all of those things we were instructed to do that we
-
couldn't actually meet had this incredible glory, how much more
-
now that we have right standing with God through Jesus Christ
-
our Lord? That's the contrast.
-
That was a great glory. But even more now, those of us
-
who are part of the new covenant in Jesus, we have a position to
-
be able to step into the glory of God.
-
For even what was made glorious had no glory in this respect
-
because of the glory that excels.
-
For if what is passing away was glorious, what remains is much
-
more glorious, the glory of the Lord.
-
We are part of the New covenant, and that glory we have received
-
is more powerful, more available, more present than the
-
glory that was received by Moses, because the glory he had
-
faded. But the Holy Spirit of God
-
remains. The spirit of the living God
-
remains. He who is Lord remains.
-
I want to give you an example from Solomon's temple, because
-
one of the things that can be difficult to grasp is
-
descriptions of the glory of God.
-
But there are some great ones in the Scriptures.
-
And so I'm going to encourage you.
-
Who has a pretty decent imagination.
-
Yeah, pretty good. All right.
-
OK. And those who don't bump your
-
hands. OK, we're going to try today.
-
You know why it's important to have an imagination?
-
Because the Scripture says in Ephesians 320 He does
-
immeasurable, immeasurable be on more than you can imagine.
-
So have a big imagination because God wants to do more
-
than even that bit He wants. You have an imagination because
-
He wants to blow that away. OK, that's an aside.
-
Before He reveals glory, He expands capacity.
-
Before He sends weight, he strengthens structure.
-
Pastor Terence shared this on New Year's Eve.
-
Before he reveals glory, he expands capacity.
-
Before he sends weight, he strengthens structure.
-
Now Pastor Terence was referencing this as in terms of
-
what the Lord had been sharing and doing here at Lovequest.
-
And I want to give an example out of Solomon's Temple about
-
the preparation and how the Lord is moving.
-
So we're going to go to Second Chronicles chapter 5 and verse
2 Chronicles 5 chapter mention
-
7. Solomon had built the temple
-
because David, his father, King David, his father had wanted to
-
do it, but he'd been instructed he wasn't able to do it.
-
But the Solomon should build the temple, and there was an immense
-
amounts of gold and wood and medals and fineries all put in.
-
And once it had been completed, he actually brought all the
-
elders from around Israel and the people of Israel to come to
-
the dedication of the temple. And once they had finished, it
-
says in verse 7, then the priests carried the ark of the
-
Lord's covenant into the inner sanctuary of the temple, the
-
most Holy Place, and placed it beneath the wings of the
-
cherubim. Now I want to give you an
-
understanding of what the wings of the cherubim were.
-
In the Bible it says there were 24 cubits high.
-
I don't know what a cubit is. No one uses cubits anymore,
-
right? So I looked it up and it's 36
-
feet tall. Golden angels with their wings
-
arched now 36 feet tall. I'm I'm just just over 6 foot,
-
so it's almost 6 of me high, which would be probably twice
-
the height of the building we have here.
-
Just to give you a sense of the enormity of the this hole in
-
holies. And there were huge golden
-
chirps and not the baby ones that you see that all chubby.
-
It's not one of those. And this gives us a sense of
-
what they saw the glory of God as enormous.
-
And these are the angels, 36 feet tall, made of gold.
-
And they brought the ark of the covenant.
-
And the ark of the covenant was the place where God met the
-
people of Israel, and they brought that into the temple.
-
And you can see him, small, small font here.
-
Invite the King today. If you've never invited Jesus in
-
your life, I encourage you invite the King today.
-
If you have been in a space where you haven't been
-
permitting the Lord to be Lord, invite the King.
-
Invite the king into the place where he dwells.
-
To skip down to verse 11, then the priests left the holy place.
-
Just so you understand the structure of the temple, there
-
was the Holy of Holies or the Most Holy Place, which is where
-
the Ark of the Covenant was kept.
-
Only the high priest was allowed in there once a year.
-
The holy place around that is where the priest would be able
-
to go and do ministry to the Lord.
-
And then there was an outer court.
-
And so the priest left the holy place.
-
They had done their, the, the work they had to prepare.
-
And all the priests who were present had purified themselves
-
whether or not they were on duty that day.
-
So they all turned up. Usually there were different
-
divisions. So you do that week and you do
-
that week, you know, on four days, on four days off, right?
-
Not quite that, but that's the idea.
-
But they were all present and they'd all purified themselves.
-
They'd done the ceremonial cleansing.
-
They'd all prepared their hearts.
-
They'd all become prepared. They'd all prepared to serve the
-
Lord. They'd all prepared for this
-
great day of dedication of the temple.
-
They'd all come together. They prepared their hearts.
-
They were prepped and ready. You're prepared.
-
Remember the the word of God we received back in August, I
-
believe it was the 23rd and it was You're repaired because the
-
wind is blowing. You're equipped because the wind
-
is blowing. You're prepared.
-
You're ready. You're prepared for the presence
-
of the King. You're prepared and ready for
-
the King of glory. You're ready to receive what he
-
has for you. They would sanctify themselves.
-
They would cleanse themselves in preparation of the coming of the
-
King. They prepared themselves to
-
worship. They prepared themselves.
-
I would encourage you, especially those of you who are
-
the Love Quest International churches, your home.
-
I encourage you come prepared. Come prepared to worship.
-
Come prepared to receive. Come prepared, take that time.
-
Maybe it's in the car, maybe it's before the car, depending
-
on whether you have children, because that can be more
-
challenging. Become prepared and ready for
-
what God has for you. But you are ready for what God
-
is doing. So they were prepared.
-
And the Levites, who are musicians, Asaph, Heman,
-
Jetathan and all their sons and brothers were dressed in fine
-
linen robes and stood at the east side of the altar playing
-
cymbals, liars and harps. They were joined by 120 priests
-
who are playing trumpets. This goes beyond you.
-
You see, there's three people named there.
-
And it was all their brothers and all their sons and all of
-
them. See, you're preparing to receive
-
the King of glory, but it's not for you.
-
You're preparing to receive the Lord of hosts.
-
It's not for you. It's so you can be an impact on
-
those around you, so that when you receive the power of His
-
glory, when you experience the encounter with God, you are
-
prepared because the impact goes beyond you.
-
You're blessed to be a blessing. You're blessed with purpose.
-
You're blessed to encounter Jesus as the risen King, not
-
just for you, but beyond you. This is a time when the Lord is
-
coming to deliver households. We receive that word for pastor
-
terrorists. He's coming to deal with
-
households. There's an anointing,
-
Hallelujah. So we are prepared and ready,
-
and it goes beyond you. And then the trumpeters and
-
singers perform together in unison to praise and give thanks
-
to the Lord. Accompanied by trumpets, symbols
-
and other instruments, they raise their voices and praise
-
the Lord with His words. Can you say this with me?
-
He is good. His faithful love endures
-
forever. He is good.
-
His faithful love endures forever.
-
They had a revelation. They had a revelation.
-
I know this, He is good, I know this.
-
His love endures forever. This is a thankfulness of hearts
-
and in unison that we're rejoicing in unison that was
-
giving thanks to the Lord. Thanks opens gates.
-
Remember we read in Psalm 24 verse 9 and it said, lift up
-
your head, O ye gates, for the King of glory is coming.
-
Your thanks opens the gate, Your thanks and there was a power in
-
the unity as they come in one accord to give thanks to the
-
Lord. It opened the gates at that
-
moment. Say at that moment a thick cloud
-
filled the temple of the Lord. The priest could not continue
-
their service because of the cloud.
-
For the glorious presence of the Lord fill the temple of God.
-
In the Amplified classic it says For the glory of the Lord fill
-
the House of God. We often call it the manifest
-
presence of God because God is around, God is at work.
-
But there's this, these encounters where you see it, you
-
sense it. In this situation, the House of
-
God was filled with the presence of God and it was shown as a
-
cloud and they couldn't do continue their work.
-
Presence of the Lords is so thick, they couldn't do the
-
work. His glory captures attention.
-
His glory captures attention. His glory was so rich, so
-
present that they couldn't continue.
-
There was so much weight to it. Glory in the in the original is
-
actually often defined as weight, and it in that weight is
-
kind of the idea of splendor, majesty, awaiting this to it a
-
weight to the glory of God. But his glory, first of all,
-
before we go, can you picture that?
-
Can you picture that in your mind's eye?
-
This incredible temple with gold and and and lavish purple linens
-
and richness, and then the presence of God comes like a
-
cloud that's so weighty, they cannot even remain in the holy
-
place. Can you picture that?
-
A glory is so substantive, so powerful, so rich, and now
-
consider this. His glory now resides in you.
-
1st Corinthians 619 and 20 says or do you not know that your
-
body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you
-
have from God, and you are not your own, for you are bought at
-
a price, and therefore glorify God in your body and in your
-
spirit, which are gods. Now in in grammar I learnt when
-
the apostrophe is here, that means it belongs to that thing,
-
It's a possessive, it's a now your body and your spirit belong
-
to God. You've been redeemed by the
-
blood of the Lamb, that glorious presence, that glorious love,
-
that great work. And so now because we have been
-
redeemed, we are the temple of the Holy Spirit, that very glory
-
of God. Paul here is challenging them,
-
saying, hey, what are you doing with your body?
-
What are you doing with your life?
-
Why are you allowing yourself to get caught up in these things
-
when your body is actually the temple of the Spirit of the
-
living God? Remember that glory that you
-
pictured in your mind's eye. Remember the glory of God and
-
now you are the temple. You are the dwelling place of
-
the glory. God is coming to do what He is
-
ready to do. This is the year of the Lord of
-
hosts. God is ready to do what He's
-
going to do, is coming to do what He's ready to do.
-
A Lord of hosts is His name. Two Corinthians chapter 3 a
-
little further on in verse 17 says now the Lord is a spirit
-
and where the spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty,
-
emancipation from bondage, true freedom, and we all with
-
unveiled faces. Remember we referenced Moses had
-
to put a veil on his face with because the glory was too much
-
for the people. So now we with unveiled faces,
-
we don't have to have the veil over our eyes.
-
We now with unveiled faces continually seeing as in a
-
mirror the glory of God are progressively being transformed
-
into His image from 1° of glory to even more glory which comes
-
from the Lord who is the Spirit. The Lord is the Spirit, and with
-
the Spirit of Lord is liberty. And we all with unveiled faces
-
continually seeing, how are you seeing?
-
Through what lens are you seeing?
-
Which influencer is influence you're seeing?
-
What are you allowing to influence you're seeing?
-
What parts of you're seeing of you need to be uncluttered?
-
What parts of your seeing need to be stripped off?
-
Like it says in Hebrews 12 verse one, What part of your seeing is
-
influenced by others opinions? What parts of your seeing is
-
impacted by old ideas but not the word?
-
What part of your seeing is a distortion?
-
What part of your seeing is not purified by the word?
-
You see, how we see ourselves is reflected in what we do.
-
If I see myself as not good enough?
-
If I see myself as insufficient, as I see myself as unworthy, as
-
I see myself as worthless, I have not taken on the image of
-
Christ, I've taken the on the image of others.
-
Opinions. I'm not taken on board that I am
-
made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus as it says in two
-
Corinthians 521. Made righteous through Jesus.
-
This is important. There are so many people giving
-
you an opinion about how you should see yourself.
-
There are so many people who believe that they have a word
-
about you. Sometimes it's family, sometimes
-
it's closer than just an Instagram, sometimes it's
-
comparison. Comparison will RIP the heart
-
out of your identity. But you are not called to have
-
the opinion of another person. You are called to have the
-
opinion of the Word of God. So here we are.
-
We're seeing as in the mirror, the glory of the Lord.
-
Are we seeing the glory of the Lord and we're being
-
progressively being transformed into what?
-
His image, Not even my image of me.
-
His image of me. So we go from 1° of glory to
-
even more glory, which comes from the Lord who is the Spirit
-
of God. So we talked about it before.
-
You are the temple of Holy Spirit.
-
So how are you permitting the Holy Spirit and the Word of God
-
to tell you who you are? So you're receiving that?
-
There's two final illustrations from the word I'd like to share
-
that reflect the King of Glory and the Lord of hosts.
-
And it's important because we need to understand what we're
-
called into. We need to get an understanding
-
of who He is. We had Christmas, who had a
-
great Christmas. I had a good Christmas.
-
Some people had a good. Yeah, yeah, good.
-
Got some. You've got a couple of presents.
-
It was nice. You know, I don't think I'm
-
wearing any of them. No, not today.
-
And at Christmas time. The world loves Christmas.
-
We get presents. It's great.
-
It's exciting. We've got the trees here.
-
It's cold outside in Australia. It was hot outside.
-
We'd get like, you know, 35°. We'd be down at the beach at
-
Christmas. That's a whole different
-
experience, but the world loves to define Jesus as a baby
-
because he's not a threat. So let's go.
-
Are you ready for an encounter with Almighty God?
-
Isaiah chapter 6. Pastor Terence used this verse
Isaiah 6 chapter mention
-
in his New Year's Eve message, and I wanted to share it with
-
you again. But here and imagine, picture
-
and the year that King Isaiah died, I saw in a vision the Lord
-
sitting on a throne, high and exalted, with the train of his
-
royal robe filling the most holy part of the temple.
-
Above him, Seraphim, their angels, heavenly beings stood.
-
Each one had 6 wings. With two wings he covered his
-
face. With two wings he covered his
-
feet, with two wings he flew, and one called out to the other,
-
saying, Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts.
-
The whole earth is filled with His glory, and the foundations
-
of the thresholds trembled at the voice of him who was called,
-
who called out, and the temple was filling with smoke.
-
Then I said, Woe is me, for I am ruined because I am a man of
-
ceremonial, ceremonially unclean lips, and I live among a people
-
of unclean lips. For my eyes have seen the King,
-
the Lord of hosts, the King of Glory is being revealed as the
-
Lord of Hosts, the Lord of Heaven's armies.
-
The King of glory is also the Lord of heaven's armies.
-
The king of glories is rising in this year as the Lord of hosts.
-
The King of glory is rising in this time to stand and to bring
-
judgment. The King of glory has come as
-
the Lord of hosts because he is ready.
-
Revelation 19, verse 11 to 16. You're going to love this one.
-
You're going to love it. You're going to love it.
-
OK, don't read ahead. Now take this moment.
-
This is the risen Jesus. Then I saw heaven open wide and
-
oh, a White Horse and its rider. The rider named faithful and
-
true, judges and makes war in pure righteousness.
-
His eyes are a blaze of fire, on his head many crowns.
-
He has a name inscribed that's known only to himself.
-
He is dressed in a robe soaked with blood, and he is addressed
-
as Word of God. Who could tell me?
-
The Word of God is Jesus. The armies of heaven, mounted on
-
white horses and dressed in dazzling white linen, follow
-
him. A sharp sword comes out of his
-
mouth so he can subdue the nations, then rule them with a
-
rod of iron. He treads the winepress of the
-
raging wrath of God the Sovereign strong, and on his
-
robe and thigh is written King of kings, a Lord of Lords.
-
This is the resurrected Jesus. This is the one in whom we've
-
trusted. Yes, he came as a baby at
-
Christmas. Yes, that we remember at
-
Christmas. He came as a baby into the
-
world. He rose victorious from death in
-
the grave. He rose in authority.
-
He rose in glory. He is the Lord of hosts.
-
He is the great Lord of all creation.
-
He is the Almighty God. There is none beside him.
-
None can stand against Him. When we speak of the King of
-
Kings and Lord of Lords, we speak of the One who is more
-
than able. You see, we get back to that
-
verse in Tekken, Corinthians 3 verse 17 to 18.
-
How are you seeing? The glory of God?
-
How are you seeing? Yourself, how will you see the
-
one who lives within you? You are the temple of the Holy
-
Spirit. Yes, He's a God of love, rich
-
love, deep love, unfathomable love.
-
Yes, He is the one who gives peace, Yes, and he is the Lord
-
of hosts. And you may say, well, I heard
-
this message, but what's in it for me?
-
Quite honestly, it's not about you.
-
He is the King of glory. He is the Lord God Almighty.
-
He is the one who says he's the one who set us free.
-
And yet that reality changes how we see ourselves.
-
That truth that he is the Lord of hosts.
-
I invite you to pray with me, Lord God, thank you.
-
Lord of hosts, you are the King of glory.
-
Lord, we honour you today. We praise you today, oh God.
-
We lift our voices in worship to you.
-
Lord, You are the Lord of all heaven and the You are the King
-
of glory. You are the Lord of heaven's
-
