  1. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Love Quest International

  2. Church podcast, where we seek to love all nations, equip the

  3. church, mobilize the equipped, and serve all.

  4. We're super glad you're joining us from whenever and wherever

  5. you're at in the world. Welcome to the family to get

  6. your Bibles ready, get some water, get some coffee, maybe

  7. some tea, and get ready to receive.

  8. Let's get into it. Well, it's such a honour to be

  9. able to share with you today the Word.

  10. Thank you to Pastor Terrance and Pastor Julia for the blessing

  11. that it is to be able to speak the Word today.

  12. And thank you for the honour, for sharing with me the honour

  13. to to give the Word. Today we're going to continue

  14. with the theme of family foe, oh, faith foes and family faith

  15. foes and family alliteration. Always good.

  16. You know, it's really important to know who you are.

  17. There's a song that says who am I?

  18. As we were saying that who am I that you keep me in your mind?

  19. Well, I am the redeemed of the Lord.

  20. I am me, the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, so I'm

  21. righteous. I'm kings and priests in the

  22. Kingdom of God. I'm a royal priesthood, part of

  23. a holy nation. Don't forget who you are.

  24. Don't forget all that's been completed through Jesus.

  25. Don't forget you are a child of the King of Kings and Lord of

  26. Lords. Remember your position and

  27. posture before Almighty God, because He has redeemed us, set

  28. us free from the power of sin and death, brought us to His

  29. glorious Son, brought us into the Kingdom of light, brought us

  30. into His presence, brought us so we can come, as it says in

  31. Hebrews 416, boldly before the throne of grace.

  32. That's right, boldly. I said it because the Bible said

  33. it. Boldly Say that with me.

  34. Boldly, boldly, boldly. I think that's what we as the

  35. bigger Church need. Again, boldly, a little bit more

  36. boldly. A little bit more boldly in our

  37. walk, A little bit more boldly in our talk, a little bit more

  38. boldly in our prayer. A little bit more boldly in our

  39. believing, a little bit more boldly, a bit more boldly.

  40. Boldly in who we are, boldly in who's we are.

  41. Bold Acts Chapter 4 after they've been challenged by the

    Acts 4 chapter mention

  42. by the authorities, I pray Lord, give us boldness to speak the

  43. word. There's boldness in your center.

  44. There's boldness in you, Giselle, there's boldness, Noah.

  45. There's boldness, Pastor Dylan, there's boldness, boldness,

  46. bold. Strong.

  47. Strong in prayer, strong in the way you speak, strong in the

  48. conviction you have in Christ Jesus.

  49. Amen. So faith foes and family.

  50. Sorry, I'm having trouble here with my computer, so I will

  51. boldly follow on with everybody else.

  52. So we have 3 verses that are pivotal verses to the message we

  53. have. So the first is from Genesis 315

  54. and says and I will put enmity between you and the woman and

  55. between your offspring and her offspring.

  56. He will bruise and tread your head under foot and you will lie

  57. in wait and bruise his heel. Now who says this?

  58. God says it. God says God puts this in place.

  59. This is the war. Next scripture is from Matthew

  60. 1036. And a man's foes will be they of

  61. his own household. Jesus is speaking here and

  62. saying even those of your own household will become ones who

  63. will press you will will defy you.

  64. The next scripture is Psalm 127 verse one.

  65. Except the Lord builds the house.

  66. They labour in vain who build it.

  67. It's not the Christians building, it's not our efforts

  68. building, not our personality building.

  69. But the Lord is the one who must build the house.

  70. The Lord builds the house. And so we see in these three

  71. scriptures the war. Genesis 3 reveals the war,

  72. Matthew 10 reveals the proximity of the war, and then Psalm 127

  73. reveals the only way that the war is won.

  74. So Pastor Terence positioned us with these three scriptures last

  75. Wednesday, and I'm going to continue with a focus on the

  76. Whisperer. Can you go to the next slide,

  77. please? The enemy is always whispering.

  78. Thank you. Perfect.

  79. The enemy is always whispering. You see, this is how the enemy

  80. gets in that ear. The whisper.

  81. It's not the obvious, it's not the upfront.

  82. It's the whisper. The enemy is always whispering,

  83. just like he did to Eve in Genesis is the Whisperer.

  84. And what does he whisper? He whispers lies.

  85. He twists words in twisting words and feeding pride.

  86. It's not that we don't have our pride, but he feeds it, adds

  87. fuel to it, inspires doubt. That seems like it doesn't make

  88. sense, but there's an inspiration in his doubt.

  89. Did he say the questioning? Did Did he really say that?

  90. Attempts the flesh, provokes jealousy, attacks identity.

  91. The enemy is always looking for ways to undermine, create

  92. uncertainty, insecurity. And as those things happen, now

  93. we feed that. And now that affects our family,

  94. how we interact, how we engage his whispering deception.

  95. I like this one. I think the enemy loves this

  96. one. Nitpick division.

  97. I said nitpick because it's those little things, those

  98. little, what is it? It's the smallest thing, the

  99. little nitpick. And all of a sudden the nitpick

  100. can become a division. And all of a sudden you'd be

  101. wondering what happened 30 years ago that we don't meet with this

  102. side of the family. And like, yeah, Cos, Cos nitpick

  103. division, just as little things became a nitpick division of a

  104. family. Affirming fears.

  105. We can come up with our own fears, but man, the enemy loves

  106. to just. Yeah, you're right.

  107. Yeah, you should be worried about that.

  108. Oh, yeah. Did you?

  109. I think you're right. I think.

  110. I think he did do that. Let me affirm you in your fear.

  111. Let me affirm you in your uncertainty.

  112. Let me affirm that little thing and and make it be.

  113. Inspires doubt. He's a deceiver.

  114. You see, deception doesn't have to be a lie.

  115. It can be the absence of truth. A deceiver doesn't have to out

  116. front lie to you, He just has to position the truth in such a way

  117. that it's now taking you down a different track.

  118. The Whisperer. In Proverbs 26 verse 22 it says

    Proverbs 26:22

  119. the words of a whisperer or slanderer are like dainty

  120. morsels or words of sports to some but to others are like

  121. deadly wounds and they go down into the innermost parts of the

  122. body or the victims nature. The Whisperer is that thing that

  123. sits in there and before long you don't even remember why.

  124. Where did that come from? But it's got into the innermost

  125. parts of you and almost become a part of your nature.

  126. And you know what? There's sometimes there's things

  127. in the family and it's like, well, I'm angry, but it's only

  128. because you know, it's runs in the family.

  129. Oh, that's becoming an accepted whisper has created a deep

  130. identity. Oh, oh, that's that's just what

  131. we do. Oh, I yeah, I get that from this

  132. side of the family. Oh, we're all afraid of, of, of,

  133. you know, whatever on this side of the family.

  134. It's just just part of it's always become this attachment of

  135. ownership, all because of a whisper.

  136. It goes deep and it can create these divisions, these

  137. separations, and before long you don't know who said what, but

  138. you're sure this is what had happened because the Whisperer

  139. has got deep in the innermost parts.

  140. And we're here to expose the work of the enemy, bring

  141. exposure, shine a light so we can walk in the victory that is

  142. ours. And so we're exposing.

  143. These are the things that the ways the enemy wants to dig in.

  144. And it's interesting Jesus family wasn't immune to this.

  145. We read in John Chapter 7 later, Jesus was going about his

    John 7 chapter mention

  146. business in Galilee. He didn't want to travel in

  147. Judea because the Jews were looking for a chance to kill

  148. him. Makes sense, right?

  149. Anybody. Yeah.

  150. You agree? People trying to kill you.

  151. I'll avoid that area. That's that's a good that's a

  152. good decision. It was near the time of the

  153. Feast of Tabernacles, A feast observed annually by the Jews.

  154. His brothers Jesus brothers said, why don't you leave here

  155. and go up to the feast so your disciples can get a good look at

  156. the works you do. No one who intends to be

  157. publicly known does everything behind the scenes.

  158. If you're serious about what you were doing, come out in the open

  159. and show the world. His brothers were pushing him

  160. like this because they didn't believe in him.

  161. Why the so his own brothers, his own brothers were like, alright,

  162. show off, go on, show us what you can do.

  163. That's the big party. Why don't you just go and and be

  164. with all your followers down there division, division, even

  165. the Son of God and his the the the brothers he had connection

  166. with his his earthly brothers didn't believe in him.

  167. You imagine that you're already dealing with the doubts.

  168. You've already got a Judas in your 12.

  169. You're already dealing with a whole bunch that have just left

  170. you and in all of this now your own family are ridiculing you.

  171. You see, the enemy was attempting to, even in his own

  172. family, even in Jesus own family, create division and as

  173. Pastor Terence said last Wednesday, familiarity.

  174. A familiarity, a familiarity even with the one who is the son

  175. of God. Familiarity to cause division.

  176. A faith reorients the fight. And this is the shift of gears.

  177. This is what we're pressing into today.

  178. Faith reorients the fight to reorient is to to, it's like

  179. when you're GPS and all of a sudden you go one way and it has

  180. to reroute for you. It's reoriented.

  181. It's it's made adjustments. It's now seeing it from a new

  182. angle. So faith reorients the fight.

  183. It actually gives the fight a different framework, a different

  184. vision, a different viewpoint. Faith shifts the fight.

  185. You see boxers who are have different strategies.

  186. So some want to get in there and grapple and just punch.

  187. Others want to dance around and wear out their, their their

  188. opponents. And each one is reorienting the

  189. fight to their advantage, right? So 1 is in there trying to keep

  190. them in the corner so they can just give them some haymakers.

  191. And the other one's dancing around trying to make the other

  192. guy wear out because he's bigger than him and he'll wear out

  193. faster than him. So whoever gets that strategy

  194. gets to reorient the fight to their advantage, and faith does

  195. that in our relationships. Faith reorients the fights.

  196. If we misidentify the foe, we fracture the family.

  197. You see, even in Jesus own family, they were looking at

  198. Jesus going all right, man, whatever.

  199. Yeah, I know you're the big guy. You get all the people coming

  200. out. I know you go on the mountain.

  201. There's thousands out there. I see it.

  202. Good for you. We're just trying to do stuff

  203. here back home, you know, and misidentified the enemy,

  204. misidentified the foe. As a result, there was fractures

  205. in the family. Let's see the strategies of the

  206. enemy. Luke chapter 4, verse 3.

    Luke 4:3

  207. This is at the time after Jesus had been fasting for 40 days.

  208. We do fasts here and they're powerful.

  209. This fast was like a nut. Nothing for 40 days fast that's

  210. wearing right. That's a different kind of fast.

  211. And the devil taking opportunity says, said to him, if you are

  212. the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.

  213. But Jesus answered him, saying, it is written, man shall not

  214. live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

  215. So here he takes advantage and says, I'm sure you're hungry.

  216. I know you can do this. I know you can turn this stone

  217. into bread. Jesus didn't argue about his

  218. capacity to do that. It wasn't.

  219. That's nonsense. I can't make the stone into

  220. bread. He's like, yeah, OK, but that

  221. wasn't the point. The point was it is written.

  222. Men shall not live by bread alone, by by every word of God.

  223. As in I'm not going to be tempted into taking bread at

  224. this moment to fulfil your temptation.

  225. The capacity wasn't the issue. It was a decision to go with

  226. what the word says because it is written.

  227. It's Him coming back with word, Him coming back with strong word

  228. that identified what the enemy was trying to do.

  229. Verses 6 says, and the devil said to him, All this authority

  230. I will give you and their glory. He'd taken them up to a high

  231. place to see over all the kingdoms.

  232. All this authority I will give you, and their glory.

  233. For this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I

  234. wish. Therefore, if you will worship

  235. before me, all will be yours. Now Jesus doesn't argue that

  236. fact. There's no argument from Jesus

  237. about that statement. The statement of the devil

  238. saying I have been given all this authority.

  239. There's no argument over that. But in verse 8 he says, and

  240. Jesus answered and said to him, get behind me Satan, for it is

  241. written, you shall worship the Lord your God and him only you

  242. shall serve. You see, the enemy was trying to

  243. feed him pride. Hey, you can have all of this.

  244. Let me feed you some pride. You can have all of this.

  245. And he says, no. It is written, you shall worship

  246. the Lord your God and him only you shall serve.

  247. He came back to the Word for his perspective.

  248. He came back to the Word of God for the way he would see the

  249. situation. He came back to the Word of God

  250. to deal with the strategies of the enemy.

  251. And then in verse 9 it says, then he brought him to

  252. Jerusalem, set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said

  253. to him, if you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from

  254. here. For it is written, he shall give

  255. his angels charge over you to keep you, and in their hands

  256. they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone.

  257. So now the devil's coming, saying, hey, like you said, it

  258. is written here, it's written here.

  259. See this, it's written here. I'm giving you the word that you

  260. just gave me for the last two times.

  261. I'm going to use that same word now and say, but hey, if you

  262. throw yourself off, you're actually covering the word by by

  263. fulfilling it. And in fact, you could prove

  264. you're the Son of God by doing it right in front of all these

  265. people right now. The enemy was twisting words.

  266. The enemy twists words. He was twisting words to try and

  267. bring Jesus into a position where he would take it into his

  268. own hands rather than fulfilling the will of the Father.

  269. But Jesus said, and Jesus answered and said to him, it has

  270. been said, you shall not tempt the Lord your God.

  271. See, Jesus knew the intent of the Word.

  272. He couldn't be distracted because he knew the intent of

  273. the word. It wasn't to fulfil him being

  274. glorified by his actions, but rather that he would fulfil the

  275. will of the Father. So even the twisting of the word

  276. couldn't draw him into a temptation because he knew the

  277. intent. And then it continues.

  278. Now, when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed

  279. from him until an opportune time.

  280. Now this gives you a very interesting characteristic of

  281. the enemy. He's waiting for the opportune

  282. time. When I'm tired and Elder

  283. Stacey's tired, that's an opportune time.

  284. We have come to realise that is not the time.

  285. We have discussions. That is not the time we're going

  286. to get into anything that might be contentious because my

  287. tiredness not good with her tiredness also not good becomes

  288. an opportune time for division, right?

  289. You see, that's the practical aspect of it.

  290. We think it's going to be this huge thing, but sometimes it's

  291. the feeding of the pride at the opportune time.

  292. Sometimes it's the twisting of the words at an opportune time.

  293. Sometimes it's the nitpick. Division at an opportune time.

  294. Are we aware of the strategies of the enemy?

  295. So we want to equipped you. God the word.

  296. Guard the word. Guard the word of God in your

  297. family. Guard the word of God that's

  298. been given through this house. Guard the word.

  299. Let the word become the driver of your your your actions.

  300. Let the word be the the the foundation and guardrails in how

  301. we live our lives. Guard the word.

  302. Earlier I read Proverbs 2622, we talked about how the whisperer

  303. becomes something that goes deep inside of you, right?

  304. But here's the answer to that is actually found in verse 20.

  305. For lack of wood, the fire goes out, and where there is no

  306. whisperer, contention ceases. Let's not give the enemy extra

  307. fuel for the fire. Let's not give him additional

  308. fuel to create contention and division.

  309. We do that by checking aha. We do that by getting the word

  310. in US, but more importantly, the word out of us.

  311. What I mean by that, we get the word in us, but I know a lot of

  312. people know the word, but they don't know how to show the word.

  313. But we're about showing that word in our way we live.

  314. It's receiving the Word and then activating the Word, bringing

  315. the word in and then living it out in the way we live, in the

  316. way we talk, in the way we engage with people, regard the

  317. Word, and in doing so we actually create a space where

  318. the whisperer cannot have an influence, Ephesians 612 says,

  319. For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood, contending only

  320. with physical opponents, but against the despotisms, against

  321. the powers, against the master spirits who are the world rulers

  322. of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of

  323. wickedness in the heavenly sphere.

  324. Know the enemy. We do not wrestle against flesh

  325. and blood. Even the flesh and blood that

  326. you don't like. It's not them, even the flesh

  327. and blood that has contentious arguments with us that we'd

  328. rather not get into. It's still not the one we're

  329. dealing with. We're actually dealing with the

  330. spirit behind it. So we have to discern the real

  331. enemy. But you know what's exciting?

  332. You know what's really exciting? You're ready, You're ready.

  333. You see, you're equipped with the Spirit of God and the Word

  334. of God. You're ready Now, it doesn't

  335. mean we don't have our moments and we're still growing,

  336. absolutely, but you are ready. You are actually equipped for

  337. the battle. You are equipped to be able to

  338. succeed in the battle. You are ready if we go back.

  339. So I just read Ephesians 612, but let's go back to verse 10

  340. and it says, in conclusion, be strong in the Lord, Be empowered

  341. through your union with Him. Draw your strength from Him,

  342. that strength, strength which His boundless might provides.

  343. You know what? If it says it in the Bible, it's

  344. true. So you can be strong in the

  345. Lord, you can be strong in His minds, you can be strong in Him,

  346. because the word says it. We get to be strong in the Lord,

  347. We get our strength from the Lord.

  348. That's something worth being excited about.

  349. Strong in the Lord, it says, draw your strength from Him.

  350. That strength which his boundless, boundless, boundless

  351. means no boundaries without boundary, no boundary, no, no

  352. boundary that surrounds that his boundless might provides.

  353. You see, sometimes we wonder where we're going to get the

  354. strength from. Stop, come to the Lord, come to

  355. the Lord. Verse 11 Put on God's whole

  356. armour, the armour of a heavy armed soldier which God

  357. supplies. Who supplies thank you that you

  358. may be able successfully to stand up against all the

  359. strategies and the deceits of the devil.

  360. You are well equipped, you are well able, You are strong in the

  361. Lord. We are strong.

  362. And then faith reorients the fight to see renewed.

  363. I'm really excited about this one.

  364. I'm really excited about this one because there's something

  365. about seeing from a new angle. I was last year, I was praying

  366. at home and Lord said stand in the corner and I stood in the

  367. corner. I felt it stand in the corner.

  368. So I'm standing in the corner. I'm thinking, this is weird.

  369. Yeah, I'll go back in the corner.

  370. Like right back here. Here we go.

  371. So I'm here, I'm standing in the corner and OK, what do you see?

  372. Oh, well, I can see behind the sofa.

  373. That's where the dog's ball went.

  374. OK, alright. I can see behind the sofa, I can

  375. see that part of the kitchen and I can see behind the TV here.

  376. OK, now go to the other corner. So for this corner now, well, I

  377. can't see behind the sofa. I can see the front of the sofa,

  378. but I can see down the hallway and I can see that part of the

  379. kitchen that I couldn't see before.

  380. My perspective changed. I shifted my my perspective at a

  381. different angle. I could see differently and part

  382. of seeing differently was making a certain movement.

  383. There's a shift, there's a change, there's a change

  384. position. I can see something different.

  385. And then I can see differently this way.

  386. And my perspective each time is changing and, and, and maybe I

  387. see something. You ever see the golfers and

  388. you're like, what are you doing kneeling down there?

  389. But they're looking, they've got a different angle.

  390. They're like, yeah, I can kind of see the slope, right.

  391. So I could if I hit there and I come around and and I try to do

  392. that, it never worked. But but they do it because they

  393. get a different angle, a different perspective, a

  394. different view. You see, faith is reorient,

  395. reorients the fight. It gives us a different view, a

  396. different angle, a different way of seeing things.

  397. Romans 12/2 Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the

  398. culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy

  399. Spirit through a total reformation of how you think.

  400. This will empower you to discern God's will as you live a

  401. beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in His eyes.

  402. You see, part of the change in the shift is to have our minds

  403. renewed, totally transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit.

  404. So we see different. You see, sometimes that argument

  405. you're having seems so important until you get a new view by the

  406. Holy Spirit, a new way of seeing what's going on.

  407. Sometimes that division, even as hard as it may have been to go

  408. through, when you see now who's behind it, what the strategy of

  409. the enemy is to bring division or destruction, I can see it

  410. differently now. Faith is the renewed mind.

  411. Faith is believing God is more than able.

  412. Faith is actually allowing us to see through the lens of Christ.

  413. You know, I didn't know love until I realise how much God

  414. loved me. And even now I'm just scratching

  415. the surface. But when I realise how much I'm

  416. forgiven, how much I'm loved, how much he's completed, we're

  417. being called higher. We, we are, we are the ones who

  418. are called to a higher perspective, to love the

  419. unlovable. I mean, I mean, Jesus said love

  420. your enemies, do good to those who hurt you.

  421. That's bring back the Romans 12 too.

  422. That's not an opinion of the culture around you.

  423. That's a different way. That's a new way of living.

  424. The new way of living sees different.

  425. Love your enemy, do good to those who hate you.

  426. Luke 6 he talks about lend to the person who hates you and

  427. don't expect the money back. I struggle enough giving it to

  428. people who I like but our Kingdom call is to see

  429. differently. If I look at my wife and I see a

  430. daughter of the king. That's seeing differently,

  431. expecting differently. I see my children, and if I see

  432. them as the children of God, if I see them as the children of

  433. God and not just my daughter and my son, then how will I raise

  434. them differently? There's something about our

  435. seeing that helps us reorient, see faith reorients the fight.

  436. It gives us a new eyes to see, new way to see.

  437. You see, Jesus, when he was being tempted, he not only heard

  438. what the devil said, but he knew what he was trying to get at.

  439. When he used Scripture and tried to twist the Scripture, he knew

  440. what he was really trying to do is deceive him into an act that

  441. would not be fulfilling the will of the Father.

  442. He could see differently. We are ready.

  443. We're ready as we listen. We're ready as we yield.

  444. We're ready as we come into the place of obedience.

  445. We're ready as we surrender. We're ready as we see.

  446. We ask God for new perspectives. The Spirit of God is the spirit

  447. of wisdom and revelation. There's revelation that the

  448. Spirit of God wants to give you. There are circumstances in your

  449. family, situations where God is giving you new perspectives, new

  450. ways of seeing a new heart of love because faith reorients the

  451. fight. I want to encourage you today.

  452. There is a new way for you to see.

  453. Some people have come from broken homes.

  454. There's a new way for you to see love even in that situation.

  455. Some have come from blended families where they're not sure

  456. how everybody fits and everybody reacts, but there's a love from

  457. God for you so you can see different.

  458. There's a heart of love. There's a heart that sees

  459. differently and it's available there.

  460. There are family divisions that maybe have taken impacts over

  461. decades. The Lord is a Lord of with the

  462. Spirit is the Spirit of wisdom and revelation.

  463. There's a revelation for how you can deal with that division.

  464. There's a love poured out by God that will transform the way you

  465. see things. It's our application in these

  466. close quarter relationships that show people that the God I serve

  467. really is real. Some people are watching you

  468. just to see if you're authentic. Some people are waiting to see

  469. if what you believe is actually real.

  470. Some people are sitting on the sidelines waiting to see what

  471. does this Christianity mean in your life.

  472. Some people are waiting to see what does that mean in the way

  473. you deal with them. Some people are waiting to see

  474. if you've got the endurance. Some people are waiting to see

  475. if you do it more than just a Sunday.

  476. The strength of the Lord, the power of the Spirit is available

  477. to you in this work. Father, I pray, I thank you,

  478. Lord. Lord, your word is truth, your

  479. word is true. A Lord we we take the word

  480. you've given us tonight and we're not going to let it just

  481. sit in the memory bank or just be in us, but rather to activate

  482. through US. Lord.

  483. A thank you. Your word declares that we have

  484. strength for the fight. Lord, your word declares that we

  485. have the armour for the fight. And Lord, your word declares

  486. that we can know the strategies and deceit of the enemy in the

  487. fight. We are equipped for the fight.

  488. Lord, I praise you today that there's a new sight in our eyes.

  489. We see differently. We see with a renewed love.

  490. We see with renewed understanding.

  491. We see with a renewed expectation.

  492. We see with new eyes, Lord. We see our relationships in new

  493. eyes. We see our spouses with new

  494. eyes, Lord. We see our children with new

  495. eyes, Lord. We see our brothers and sisters

  496. with new eyes, our uncles and aunties with new eyes, Lord, our

  497. our families with new eyes, Lord, that that they are ones

  498. we're winning. We're so winning them.

  499. We're so winning every day that you may be glorified, that you

  500. may be honoured, and we lift up your name today.

  501. Father God, I praise you for new eyes.

  502. I praise you, Lord, for your word, and I praise you, Lord,

  503. that we are ready. Hallelujah in Jesus name, Amen.

  504. Amen. Amen.
