  1. Let's go. That makes it sound really exciting. Good morning

  2. Venture Church.

  3. Also greeting to all of you who are joining us online.

  4. If I haven't met you yet, my name is Christian Lindbeck.

  5. I'm just another one of.

  6. The really, really grateful pastors on staff Adventure. This is

  7. a great place to be partnered in ministry with you.

  8. I want to warn you right up front that I'm

  9. fighting a cold or a star throat or something.

  10. So if I have to cough, I'll try to cough

  11. away from the microphone. Bless you in Jesus name, especially

  12. those of you online, there's no escape. Glad to have

  13. you with us today.

  14. We're gonna take a big bite say we're gonna try

  15. to accomplish two things in one sermon. The first thing

  16. we want to do is try to launch this sermon

  17. series Solomon, the Man who Had it All.

  18. We're also calling it the Rise and.

  19. Fall of Solomon like you saw in that video. And

  20. we're also launching our second year of Kingdom Builders.

  21. But we're gonna do all of that.

  22. In the next thirty two minutes in one sermon.

  23. Which means it's gonna have you know.

  24. This is gonna be some twenty thousand foot stuff, some

  25. introductory stuff. I hope that in both cases it causes

  26. you to want to learn more, read more, get into

  27. first kings with us, come out of the kingdom, milder corner,

  28. find out more. But I think that you'll find that

  29. they are both interconnected.

  30. Will tie these two things together well.

  31. Scripture has from the very beginning presented life lived in

  32. two ways. That life has two possible central pathways. There's

  33. maybe some nuance in between. Will probably agree we've blended

  34. them some ourselves, but they are two fundamental ways that

  35. you might live, and this story plays out through Scripture.

  36. The first way is that you enthrone rightfully, enthrone God

  37. in the center of your life, giving him his authority,

  38. receiving from him.

  39. Direction for life. Who am I? What is life all about?

  40. And it's the privilege of human beings to be in

  41. this relationship with God. When we enthrone God, it doesn't

  42. mean we just become servants. It means we become participants

  43. trained in the family business. We get to be part

  44. of God's kingdom, and that means we get to take

  45. all of us beauty and creativity and fun and peace

  46. and restoration. We get to put our hands alongside God's

  47. hands and participate that we become kingdom builders. It's wherever

  48. it is that we find ourselves in life and has purpose,

  49. It has beauty, it has the joy of participating with

  50. God even when it is difficult. There is a good

  51. way to live with God enthroned in the middle of

  52. our life. But there is another way to live. The

  53. second way enthrones ourselves in.

  54. The center of our lives. We make ourselves the first authority.

  55. Now, I think if I asked you, nobody would say, oh,

  56. I'm making myself my own God.

  57. If you do, let's have some counseling.

  58. But like, but that's effectively what we do when we

  59. take God out of his rightful position. As we say no,

  60. it's me. I make that decision. I make the decision

  61. about what life is about.

  62. I make a.

  63. Decision who I am. I make decision how I interact

  64. with others, what is good and what is not good.

  65. It feels like it's going to be this wide open,

  66. spacious that we take for ourselves.

  67. But scripture will show.

  68. Us over and over it's a small, narrow, tiny decision.

  69. One life was God rightfully enthrone. The other is this sort.

  70. Of small, twisted disobedience is the first lie Satan never told,

  71. who was himself the first one who would not humble

  72. himself and rightfully put God on the throne. So it's

  73. the lie that he told Eve and Adam, you don't

  74. have to just decide for yourself.

  75. If you see that.

  76. Something is good and you want it, you want to

  77. take it. You're just an animal. That's what animals do.

  78. They should have it. So since he would not submit,

  79. he gives this first lie to our first parents, and

  80. they make this decision that it is up to them.

  81. It is not that God has told him.

  82. This is the first thing that they disagree with.

  83. Did God say that?

  84. So instead of participating in this broad, wide, open, purposeful,

  85. fruitful life where God has bringing restoration, shalom, beauty and

  86. peace upon the world, they chose.

  87. A small, little life, a small.

  88. Life of self determination, where it becomes a twist of

  89. what they were supposed to have. And this poison, this

  90. birth of pride, which is the first sin, nearly kills

  91. our first parents. That is only by God's grace that

  92. it does not kill them, But it has poisoned every

  93. single human being, every culture, and every system we have

  94. built since those first days pride, enthroning ourselves on God's

  95. place in our life as what is twisted everything else.

  96. It's a simple question.

  97. It's a simple, recurring, constant question for every human being.

  98. It's an invitation that gets extended over and over. Will

  99. we acknowledge and worship God joyfully, keeping him on the

  100. throne of our life? Or will we deny God, pull

  101. inward and just live by our wits and our soul

  102. called strength and competition and build these little temporary empires

  103. of the thing that we want. And again, this just

  104. makes us animals like every other animal on.

  105. The face of the earth.

  106. You can disobey God and live exactly like your dog

  107. and a bear. You can be Hey, I'm gonna fight,

  108. I'm gonna.

  109. Compete for resources. I'm gonna fight against my neighbor.

  110. I'm gonna build my own little empire with my own

  111. little so called safety and my own little things in it.

  112. And it's choosing a small life.

  113. It feels like maybe it's choosing a big life. A

  114. big life is to see where God will take you.

  115. What will you participate in with God? And this little

  116. self determined life is just he chooses this tiny, little

  117. narrow life right, just what.

  118. Do I get, what can I get? How do I

  119. save it?

  120. And it sometimes comes off as like building safety, but

  121. it's really just building our own little empires. And so

  122. this question is presented to us in these two ways

  123. to live, Where we build God's kingdom or we would

  124. build our empire. We're made as sons and daughters of God,

  125. called to participate in building his empire until he comes

  126. back and makes things all. Well, that's what we're called

  127. to do. But we have the freedom to deny God.

  128. It's not wild that he gave us that freedom.

  129. He says, I'm just giving one being the right to

  130. say no to me.

  131. Whales they will go on being whales, bumblebees and mice.

  132. They will do exactly what they're supposed to do. You

  133. you can rebel. I gave you the free will to rebel,

  134. and I gave you the chance to.

  135. Come walk along when you enthrone me.

  136. This is good life, wide open, spacious, but you can rebel.

  137. Choose to build your own little, self destructive empire. And

  138. presented to every human being through the grace of Jesus,

  139. is this question.

  140. Will I be a kingdom builder like I was made

  141. to be? Or will I be an empire builder like

  142. a simple, small, temporary human.

  143. You can build a grand empire and guess what happens

  144. when you die. It's nothing, It's just it's vapor. The

  145. little empires we build are tiny compared to the everlasting

  146. good Kingdom of God. Will we build the city of

  147. Babylon or the City of God?

  148. Will we be children of God? Or will we be

  149. mere animals? Cain or Abel, Peter or Judas. It's all

  150. the same question. And this question about.

  151. Kingdom builder or empire builder, God on the throne or

  152. me on the throne? It runs all through scripture, It

  153. runs through every story of the people.

  154. That we will read. It runs through us.

  155. One of my favorite theologians said, the line between light

  156. and dark doesn't run out there with somebody else, It

  157. runs right through the middle of every human heart.

  158. What will I be like humans sitting here? What about

  159. on your homes? Are your work?

  160. You can ask this question with your kids, or your

  161. spouse or your roommates. You can ask this in the

  162. way you go to work, the way you invest your income,

  163. the things that you buy. Who am I partnering with?

  164. What am I building?

  165. I have this grand invitation to build.

  166. God's kingdom, and I have a small little lie to

  167. build my own empire. And one of the most beautiful

  168. and heartbreaking examples that this is not just some one

  169. time decision, but an ongoing In fact, the more God

  170. blesses you, the more pressing the question becomes.

  171. Empire or kingdom.

  172. And one of the most beautiful examples of this is

  173. the subject of this series, King Solomon. Over the next

  174. few weeks, we will see him rise to the loftiest

  175. heights of kingdom building. He will have every human gift

  176. plus humility.

  177. He will kneel before.

  178. God, and the presence of God will fall into the temple,

  179. and all the nation will worship, and we'll think to ourselves,

  180. it just can't get any better than that. That's the

  181. ultimate sign of kingdom participation. I bet you, I bet

  182. you Solomon thought it doesn't get any better than this,

  183. does not get any better than this.

  184. And yet we will.

  185. See, because he fails to build into his life the

  186. habits and real that keep asking himself this question empire

  187. or kingdom, he will be tempted by empire.

  188. Small, tiny, stupid, vain, foolish empire.

  189. Lots of wives like power and sex have.

  190. Derailed more human beings than you can shake a stick at,

  191. and it will become these tiny, little temporary temptations of

  192. empire that we will see derail Solomon's life and his gift.

  193. And I just want to say, it's like, we'll watch

  194. him rise and then to these like horrific lows that

  195. strain our imagination to believe that.

  196. That can be the same guy. The same guy who

  197. did that is now the same guy who's doing.

  198. This, you see, because his life is presented with the

  199. same question always empire, kingdom, empire, kingdom now and maybe

  200. his opportunities to build God's kingdom and build his own

  201. empire were higher than ours, But the same fundamental question exists.

  202. Will I build God's kingdom, partner with him in this

  203. flourishing work, or will I build my own little empire,

  204. kingdom builder, empire builder? Will I keep God enthroned at

  205. the center of my life? Or while I try to

  206. creep onto that chair myself. I'm telling you we will

  207. learn through the story of Solomon and every human being

  208. that has existed since, to creep onto the chair of

  209. the throne of your life is mildly satisfying for a moment,

  210. and otherwise totally and utterly destructive.

  211. He will rise and then he will fall. And as

  212. the name implies in the series, he had it all. God,

  213. he had it all.

  214. We learn from this kind of reading around them that

  215. he had beauty and stature and calling and intelligence and wisdom,

  216. and he was.

  217. Good with people and high capacity. He could like it

  218. could have been so good. But who knows? Like just

  219. having the.

  220. Gifts is not good enough. And if you have the

  221. gifts and you'll submit.

  222. To God, great heights. If you have the gifts and

  223. you choose your own little thing, who cares you think?

  224. Like if the earth lasts one thousand years from now,

  225. they're gonna be like reading about Lebron James Rome is gone. Friends,

  226. these things don't last. He had everything going for him,

  227. which means the temptation to fall and lose his way.

  228. Is even higher.

  229. Did you know that the more opportunity you're given, even

  230. by God, the greater the risk, the more the responsibility,

  231. the more the temptation. Last week, Brandon talked about Alex

  232. Hanold climbing H one oh one.

  233. Did you see that? Oh? Good?

  234. Some of you saw it since then, because I was like, oh,

  235. we're going to use this unworking illustration twice because.

  236. The higher the start and the higher the climb.

  237. The more the possibility for glory, and the more the

  238. possibility for cataclysmic failure.

  239. What made watching.

  240. Alex interesting is that if he made it, you could

  241. just be like, how did this happen? And if he fell,

  242. that's it. So this is true for all of us.

  243. The more opportunity. I don't know who you are, but

  244. if you have more resources, I promise.

  245. The temptation is stronger.

  246. If you have more intelligence, more wisdom, more beauty. I

  247. want to hold some beautiful people.

  248. That I know by the face to say, be wise

  249. with this power you.

  250. Have been given, because often they're just manipulative with it.

  251. The more you are given the greatest problem.

  252. And for me, like maybe it's low, Like if Alex

  253. Hanald clies Type one oh one and I climbed those stairs,

  254. we're both climbing. My possibility for glory is small. Also

  255. my possibility for failure equally small. So you can do

  256. great things in the It's not saying, oh, you want

  257. to be a kingdom builder, you just got.

  258. To be a small, a diminutive person.

  259. Solomon was a great human being doing great things for

  260. the Kingdom of God.

  261. He just lost the thread of the story. What am

  262. I building? Am I building God's kingdom? Or am I

  263. building my own little empire? And the temptation to build

  264. your own empire. If you're a.

  265. Business owner out there, you can say, praise the temptation

  266. to build your own empire is high. He had everything

  267. going for him, Like I said, he had beauty and stature,

  268. and wisdom and relationship. Let me name two of the

  269. things Solomon had going for him. One Solomon I think

  270. you may or may not know this. Solomon is the

  271. restoration son of David and Bathsheba's sin. Now most of

  272. you know the story of David and Bathsheba. I think

  273. that there is a Netflix mini series on it.

  274. So you know.

  275. David takes Bathsheba. Afterwards he must kill her husband or

  276. have his Her husband murdered because she is embarrassingly pregnant.

  277. With David's child. Well, he gets called out. David and

  278. Bathsheba get called out by the.

  279. Prophet Nathan, and Nathan tells him this child that was

  280. conceived this way will not live.

  281. David pleads for his son, but his son will not live.

  282. After that son dies, David humbles himself, he humbles himself,

  283. and he repents.

  284. To the Lord for what he has done. And then

  285. it says he goes to his.

  286. Wife again and she can and has another son, and

  287. he names that son Solomon.

  288. Now you may or may not know this, but Solomon

  289. in Hebrew is Shlomo.

  290. Now we can grant that doesn't sound as cool, but

  291. it's important because Shlomo comes from the word shallom shalom peace.

  292. So David went through this grievous sin that cost life,

  293. costs his huge damage to his kingdom. He saw it all,

  294. he repented, he got off empire building back to kingdom building.

  295. And what did he feel?

  296. The peace of God who here has known the joy

  297. of repentance and forgiveness to joy.

  298. And so he names him a kingdom name. Oh, at

  299. all points of Jesus, whose.

  300. Kingdom he will be called king of kings, prince of peace.

  301. So he names them a kingdom name. So I name you.

  302. He's the Restoration Son. Two. Samuel twelve twenty four gives us.

  303. Another image into his gifting because through the prophet Nathan,

  304. the Lord says, and the Lord loved him and sent.

  305. A message by Nathan.

  306. The prophet also instructing him to name him alongside Solomon.

  307. We'll see it's both to name him Jedediah, because the

  308. name Jedediah means.

  309. Beloved by God, for the Lord loved him.

  310. Look, we've probably seen people with all the gifts and

  311. all the calling, and even seemed to have the blessing

  312. of God on their life, and then somehow horrifically later

  313. we see everything come crumbling down. I don't know who

  314. hit for you, but Robbie Zacharias, that one put me down.

  315. To see Philip Yancey fall two months ago, that one

  316. put me down.

  317. These are Christian.

  318. Men who I honored, respected, read, loved. And look, if

  319. you lose the thread of kingdom building, all the gifts

  320. in the world won't keep empire building from wrecking your life.

  321. He had all the gifts. He was the chosen king

  322. number two. You see, by normal custom, his older brother

  323. Ada Nija should be king. An ancient Maies custom, it's

  324. going to be the oldest son. So Ada Niga is

  325. the next son in row to be king, and frankly

  326. people thought he should be king. In some very powerful

  327. and dangerous allies of David's worked to make Ada Niga king,

  328. and you can go read about that in First King's one.

  329. They tried to make that happen.

  330. That'shiba Solomon's mother finds out. She goes and tells David, hey,

  331. they're trying to make Ada Niga king. David, upon hearing

  332. this news, knowing that Adam Nige's next in line, says

  333. this to Bathsheba, as the Lord lives, as God is

  334. my witness, that's a strong pledge. As the Lord lives, Solomon,

  335. your son shall reign after me.

  336. He is the chosen king.

  337. In fact, God had already told Solomon in a parallel

  338. passage in Second Chronicles, he says, behold, a son shall

  339. be born to you. His name will be Solomon, and

  340. he will build a house for my name.

  341. He will be a kingdom builder, and.

  342. I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.

  343. All is a foreshadow to Jesus.

  344. So here is Solomon, with all of the gifting, all

  345. of the family foundation, all of the calling and blessing

  346. from God.

  347. He is said up to be a kingdom builder.

  348. And I will say for the ten thousandth time, but

  349. because he will not make rhythms in his life that

  350. keep him focused on being a kingdom builder.

  351. He loses the.

  352. Thread of the story, and it will cost him dearly,

  353. and it will cost his children dearly, and it will

  354. cost the nation dearly. He'll be the last king to

  355. look over a nation that is even unified because he

  356. loses the thread of being a kingdom builder.

  357. We'll watch the next few.

  358. Weeks how he'll move from this highly favored position. Pastor

  359. Brandon's gonna teach next week.

  360. Out of first Kings three.

  361. We're gonna see he took all of this privilege and

  362. then he did the right thing.

  363. He asks for wisdom.

  364. We'll watch him go on this meteoric rise, and then

  365. we will watch him come tumbling down pride and excess

  366. and empire building, And for us, it becomes the central

  367. lesson of this story. You see, we're meant to learn

  368. something when we read this. We want you to be

  369. biblically literate. So if you just know the story, that's

  370. a good start. But it's a story so that you

  371. can find yourself in it. This is why it's not

  372. a book of propositional truths. It's stories of real people.

  373. So you can read the story and you can look

  374. at that story and say, well, I do not want

  375. that to happen to me. I do not want that,

  376. not for my house, not for my kids, not for

  377. my life, not for any kind of.

  378. Legacy I leave on the earth. That's not going to

  379. be my story.

  380. Well, if you don't learn from that history, friends, you

  381. know the rest of the line, you're doomed.

  382. To repeat it.

  383. You don't have to fail yourself to learn from his failure.

  384. God, don't you wish it always worked that way?

  385. We don't have to do this ourselves, although we will

  386. be inclined to ask ourselves throughout this series, how could

  387. that be avoided?

  388. How do I not have that happen to me?

  389. I'm going to suggest that there's one phrase you can

  390. ask yourself through this entire series that might be helpful

  391. to you, and I'm going to ask you to sit

  392. with it right.

  393. Now for a second. Ask yourself this question. What am

  394. I building? What am I building? You?

  395. Take a second with yourself right now. What are you

  396. building in your home? What are you building your family?

  397. What are you building at work? What are you building

  398. here in this community? Are you participating with God by

  399. the Holy Spirit to expand, multiply and add beauty to

  400. the Kingdom of God? Or are you building your own little,

  401. tiny empire. It's just such a good question, and the question,

  402. when dealt with honestly, will constantly lead us.

  403. Back to a life that is worthwhile.

  404. The question ignored because we like what we're getting for

  405. ourselves will invariably lead to disaster, even if it looks

  406. like temporary success. How we answer that question, kingdom builder

  407. or empire builder, will change the trajectory of our entire lives.

  408. One will build peace and order and purpose and shalom

  409. and recovery, and the other only in genders, fear, hoarding,

  410. competition against our neighbors. Look, if zombie movies and TV

  411. shows have taught us anything, and they have, then they

  412. have taught us this are the zombies the real problem.

  413. It's the people. It's always about the people, And what

  414. it teaches us is the empire building. Humans are the

  415. greatest danger.

  416. Because people who think life is all about what they

  417. can and get our selfish, violent and treacherously motivated by fear.

  418. And that is what we'll see unpack in this story.

  419. And you can watch that story over and.

  420. Over, and so we have to ask ourselves, what are

  421. we building?

  422. What are you building? Now?

  423. You might be wondering other than the name, Hey, how

  424. does this fit into Kingdom Builders?

  425. Like the pro isn't it? Like how we just raise

  426. money for global mission around here?

  427. I'll tell you that you'd be asking the right question

  428. about a mechanism. Yes, we raise some money for global

  429. mission around here, but it would.

  430. Not be the right question about why we do Kingdom Builders?

  431. Why Kingdom Builders? Why take all this time, Why take

  432. all this effort? It feels like it's adding a complication.

  433. Why do we do Kingdom Builders? And the answer is

  434. very simple, because we desire to organize our deepest conviction

  435. that are shared lives are about building God's kingdom first

  436. and not our own. And we will make it a system,

  437. a rhythm, a priority. I will make sure we will

  438. make sure together this community is not about empire building,

  439. but this community is about kingdom building.

  440. We have to make a decision to do that.

  441. I am confident that Jesus was telling the truth in

  442. Matthew six thirty three when he said, seek first the

  443. Kingdom of God, and everything else.

  444. Gets added unto you.

  445. Look, I want you to We all get homes and

  446. cars and toys and trips. All those things are fine,

  447. They're only poisonous. When they're the goal, they can be.

  448. The and added into you joy of life.

  449. But if they become the goal of your life, they

  450. become a snare. If they become a snare, they become

  451. a habit. They become a habit, they become the trajectory

  452. of your whole life. If we learn anything from studying

  453. solemn and being honest with ourselves, I think it might

  454. be something like this.

  455. Choosing humility in God's kingdom.

  456. First is a lifelong, often daily decision. We can ask

  457. ourselves over and over, what am I building? What am

  458. I doing in the midst of this conflict? How might

  459. I soften my heart in this moment and shift it

  460. to building God's kingdom with my own family, in my

  461. own home instead of my own little empire.

  462. My wife's gonna love this, she's probably watching online. But

  463. we got an argument, you know, because we're married for

  464. thirty one years, and.

  465. I think to myself, I could fight this to the death.

  466. That's empire building, or I can soften my heart build

  467. up my wife.

  468. That's kingdom building in my own home. You build it

  469. at work, you build it in your home, you build

  470. it in your church.

  471. But it is this decision that you have to make, and.

  472. Then you have to learn to do it as an

  473. habitual choice.

  474. We learn to make kingdom building by making it a

  475. rewarding habit.

  476. He just learned to do this.

  477. Until you enjoy doing it, you get to participate in

  478. a great life.

  479. You can enjoy doing it. But I'm gonna tell.

  480. You if you want it but won't but fail to

  481. make it a rewarding.

  482. Habit, it will not happen. It just won't.

  483. Darryl Taylor was in the first Service and he's a

  484. long distance runner. He runs like fifty miles, which means

  485. he has some mental disorder he should talk to people about.

  486. But he has he loves it. He's made a rewarding habit,

  487. so he achieves this thing.

  488. You want to swing a kettlebell like Diabeel's rewarding habit,

  489. you have to say, I want to do that.

  490. So now I have to.

  491. Make a habit. I have to like put a rhythm

  492. in my life. I have to make commitments. I have

  493. to make a decision. I have to sign up and

  494. go to that thing. And then if I do that,

  495. I can build this thing in my life. And I'm

  496. telling you right now, this is what I am trying

  497. to accomplish through Kingdom Builders to make it a rewarding habit.

  498. And I don't want today to talk us into being

  499. kingdom builders. My goal is not to come up here

  500. and say, oh man, I'm going to talk you into

  501. being a kingdom milder. It is the goal of this

  502. book to make you a kingdom builder. It is the

  503. goal of the Holy Spirit to make you a kingdom builder.

  504. It is the purpose of Jesus for your.

  505. Life to make you a kingdom builder. That is not

  506. my job. I have a whole different kind of job.

  507. That job is to make sure Venture Church is the

  508. kind of place where we can be kingdom builders together,

  509. where we've organized our convictions so that we can share

  510. this mission together to.

  511. Build God's Kingdom.

  512. That's something I can do, and I pledged you as

  513. the leader over Kingdom Builders. I will do that with

  514. all the integrity and energy I can muster until Jesus

  515. comes back or he is famous everywhere.

  516. The mission of Kingdom Bilders is simple.

  517. If you maybe have not heard about it, you can

  518. check out our website or do we have that slide

  519. with the QR code up thank you.

  520. You can scan the QR code. Please swing by.

  521. We have got volunteers at the Kingdom Milder's Corner which

  522. is on your way out the main doors. Come talk

  523. to somebody out there about Kingdom Builders. Check out the website,

  524. come ask us more about it. The mission of Kingdom

  525. Milders is simple, and you hear about it every single week.

  526. To build God's Kingdom by expanding the global mission, making

  527. a local impact, and developing future leaders. We stay focused,

  528. laser focused on those three goals together.

  529. And sometimes people ask.

  530. Hey, venture, when are you going to stop planting new locations?

  531. When is that over? When Jesus is famous everywhere?

  532. When are you going to stop improving the locations you have?

  533. When Jesus comes back or Jesus is famous everywhere?

  534. When you're going to stop sending missionaries?

  535. We spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on missionaries.

  536. When does that stop? When every human being knows.

  537. Jesus Christ and he's famous everywhere, then we stop?

  538. When are we going to stop investing in.

  539. Schools and kids programs and future leaders when Jesus comes

  540. back or Jesus is famous everywhere. We have organized this

  541. conviction into a system, so I hope that you be

  542. a part of it. You might be wondering at this moment, well,

  543. how do I become a Kingdom Builder?

  544. Well, I am so glad you asked.

  545. Because I'm convinced that everyone who calls Venture Home can

  546. be and should be a Kingdom Builder right alongside each other.

  547. That's going to give you three quick things.

  548. Number one, the simple one, it's the easiest to do,

  549. is to give.

  550. Please partner with us.

  551. And this is every dollar beyond our regular ties and

  552. offerings which makes this housework, makes us all a Kingdom builder.

  553. And it takes an inspiring number of resources to do

  554. what we have planned.

  555. Across all of our locations.

  556. This year, Kingdom Builders will invest one point five million dollars.

  557. In the Global Mission. Let me say that again, one

  558. point five million dollars not here, but they go straight

  559. out to.

  560. Expand the Global mission, make a local impact and develop

  561. future leaders. And I can tell you so many stories

  562. about it. But this year, this year, we are going

  563. to open the first computer lab that has ever existed

  564. in the Kibera slum in Kenya, largest slub in Kenya.

  565. But there's a school that we partner with and we're

  566. going to open the first computer lab in that school

  567. and change the.

  568. Trajectory of kids' lives. It's costing ten thousand dollars to

  569. do it. It will shape kids forever. That's something we

  570. are doing as Kingdom Builders.

  571. This picture is of Immaculate Felix, Esther and Brenda.

  572. They all started as orphans in Kenya.

  573. That is a picture after of them after they all

  574. graduated high school and with flying colors past the exam

  575. to go to university in Kenya.

  576. That's lives change.

  577. Because of our investment as a Kingdom builders. When you

  578. walk in the door, sometimes you might see the slide

  579. on the door or up here that says translation service

  580. is available.

  581. I don't know if you know this or not, but

  582. we pay you can come in and have.

  583. These services and worship translated into eighty languages, so anybody

  584. can walk in the door you want. You want it

  585. to listen in like Tagalog, Filipino that's in there for you.

  586. You want Spanish that's there for you, like every language

  587. is available for us in there. That's how do we

  588. pay for this kingdom impact, Kingdom.

  589. Builders, so that the vast global community, multi ethnic community

  590. of God feels welcome in this church. That's the kind

  591. of thing we do as Kingdom Builders. This year, through

  592. Compassionate International, We're going to take care daily of five.

  593. Hundred and fifty kids this community. That is two hundred

  594. and eighty three thousand, eight hundred dollars. Three hundred thousand

  595. dollars will go from this community to make sure kids

  596. are fed and discipled and reared and know who they

  597. are in the love of Christ. Through Convoy of Hope,

  598. we will respond to every major.

  599. Disaster on the face of the earth this year.

  600. That's things that we do through Kingdom Builders. And I

  601. could go on and on telling those stories.

  602. Here's what I will do instead. Every month.

  603. We'll do this every year for the next ten months.

  604. Every month you will meet a new partner or a

  605. new initiative, something that we together are doing as Kingdom Builders,

  606. Global Mission, Local Impact, Future Leaders. I want you to

  607. hear the stories and celebrate alongside us and check out

  608. the website.

  609. But there'll be lots of time to tell more of

  610. these stories.

  611. Next week I'll spend a little just a couple of

  612. minutes with our planned Vision dream Card, so we know that.

  613. We all know how to participate. I'm going to end

  614. with these last two things, and this very fast two

  615. other ways.

  616. So you can give, you can go, and you can

  617. get involved. Go means go on a short term missions

  618. trip with us. If you want a life set on fire,

  619. a heart lit up to participate in God.

  620. Mission around the world, go on a short term mission trip.

  621. We set a goal last year that eventually someday we'd

  622. send like twelve missions trips a year, because we're sending

  623. one every two years. This year, there are seven mission

  624. trips available. Seven mission trips, so find one to get

  625. involved to. We're going to Tijuana and La Paz and

  626. Kenya and France and Indonesia and Turkey and Israel, like

  627. find a place to get plugged. And you can find

  628. all of that on our website. And honestly, I could

  629. just I would love to just tell you more and

  630. more of these stories.

  631. But what I hope I have done today is unite

  632. these two things together.

  633. I hope that by looking at the life of Solomon,

  634. I have wet your appetite to hear more about this.

  635. How does he rise? How does he fall? What can

  636. we learn?

  637. And I hope in the same story we have set

  638. a foundation for what makes us kingdom builders instead of

  639. Empire Builders, and that looking at the life of Solomon

  640. becomes a personal thing to you and a personal thing.

  641. For the life of this church. And that we stay at.

  642. This with diligence, prayer, and creativity and passion and cooperation

  643. with one another until either Jesus comes back or he

  644. is famous everywhere.

  645. This is our calling. I'm so glad to be on

  646. this mission with you, thanks to each of you.

  647. For those of you who've already joined, I hope that

  648. this week you'll check out Kingdom Builders, become a Kingdom Builders.

  649. That you'll read first king Chapters one and two, and

  650. if you like, you can memorize Matthew six point thirty three,

  651. seek first the Kingdom of God.

  652. It's a blessing to be on mission with you.

  653. When you walk out those doors today, whatever is you're

  654. going to do, go make Jesus famous, build his kingdom

  655. until he comes back, or you go home.

  656. Amen.

  657. Man, I hope you hear the heart of that message

  658. this morning, because the question that He poses for us

  659. from the Book of All the Men in regards to

  660. Kingdom Builders is one that every single believer should ask themselves.

  661. And that's whose kingdom and I building? Am I building

  662. my own little personal empire? Or am I building something

  663. that will go beyond what I can do on my own.

  664. It's a question that we should all wrestle with, and

  665. our belief here is that together as Venture Church, we

  666. want to do everything that we can to make Jesus famous.

  667. Amen.

  668. And that requires us to not just focus on our empire,

  669. but to say, God, what do you want to do

  670. with our lives and this community to make his name

  671. known everywhere? And so as you leave this morning, you're

  672. going to be handed one of our annual goal cards.

  673. This is our goal card for twenty twenty six. We

  674. hand this out to every single person who comes to

  675. church today because we want you to know the things

  676. that we are doing together to make his name known.

  677. Amen.

  678. As you take this home, it's it's a magnet, which

  679. is which is pretty cool. Turns out box weighs a

  680. metric ton when you order a bunch of these. But

  681. you can take this and stick it on your fridge.

  682. And what we want to encourage you to do is

  683. be actively praying over our church and ask yourself that

  684. question every time.

  685. You look at it. Who's kingdom in my building?

  686. Consider how you can be a part of kingdom builders

  687. this year, you and your family, whether that's going on

  688. a missions trip, serving giving above your tithe, whatever that

  689. may look like for you. We want to encourage everyone

  690. at Venture Church to be a kingdom builder. And here's

  691. what I would love to do. Just to close out

  692. our service. You're gonna grab one of these. They're going

  693. to hand you one as you leave the doors. But

  694. I want to actually invite you to stand to your

  695. feet this morning because I want to just turn this

  696. into a prayer over you, over myself as we walk

  697. out of here today, would you just pray with me? Lord, God,

  698. we thank you so much, and I don't want to

  699. just breeze by that.

  700. God.

  701. I thank you that my life has extreme purpose. God,

  702. that you desire to use me to build something far

  703. greater than anything I can build on my own. And

  704. I pray that that truth would reside in the hearts

  705. and the minds of every single person here. God, you

  706. have called us and created us to build something far

  707. greater than we could build on our own. And so God,

  708. as a church God, I pray over my friends in

  709. this room. God, I pray that you would stir their

  710. hearts for what it means to build your kingdom this

  711. year in their own life. And as we walk out

  712. of here together and we believe for twenty twenty six, God,

  713. I pray that you would do greater things through us

  714. than we could ask or imagine God as a body

  715. making your name famous. God, we love you, We thank

  716. you in Jesus' name. And everyone said, amen, Hey, as

  717. you leave this place, you're gonna grab one of these cards.

  718. And for all of you in here that are family

  719. members here at Venture, I want to invite you back

  720. six pm for our annual family meeting tonight right here

  721. in this place. So we'll see you back here tonight.

  722. God bless you, and we'll see you next week
