  1. For those of you that don't know who I am

  2. because I've been gone for three weeks. I'm Brandon. I'm

  3. in charge. Honestly, it's great that you're here. I do

  4. want to say, as all of our teenagers are leaving,

  5. we're gonna miss you.

  6. Guys.

  7. This is the last Sunday that the staff doesn't have

  8. to work because starting next week we go back to

  9. three services. So I know Die already mentioned it, but

  10. I want to mention it again for those of you

  11. that weren't here when Die was up at the very

  12. beginning of the service. We go back to our three

  13. service format starting next week eight thirty ten eleven thirty,

  14. so so please mark that down. I'm sure we'll probably

  15. send you way too many reminders in the days and

  16. weeks to come, but I just want to take a

  17. moment remind you.

  18. But do me.

  19. If everybody by your heads, close your eyes, repeat this

  20. prayer after me, Everyone say, Dear Jesus, speak to my heart,

  21. change my life in Jesus' name.

  22. Amen. I love to tell stories from our past.

  23. Most of the time I tell you stories that are

  24. really encouraging, but we have lots of stories that go

  25. down and infamy also, so I want you to like

  26. allow me to share a story that in the history

  27. of venture has gone down and infamy. Now I have

  28. been serving communion at our church in the same way

  29. for twenty two years. So if you've been here when

  30. we do communion, we will be doing communion next week.

  31. But I try to make it a very deeply meaningful

  32. spiritual experience. I give everyone the opportunity before we receive

  33. of the cup to make a commitment in their faith

  34. every single time I do it. And then I talk

  35. about the cup of juice and I say, it's not

  36. what it is that matters, it's what it represents, and

  37. it represents the shed blood of Jesus. And then I

  38. basically explain that it represents grace. The grace is unmerited favor,

  39. that grace is a gift. You didn't earn it, you

  40. didn't deserve it, but Jesus loved you so much that

  41. he gave it to you. And then we pray the

  42. sinner's prayer, and then at Amen and I say, let's

  43. drink the cup of Grace together. And it symbolizes God's

  44. grace covering all of our sin and all of our shame.

  45. So as people took the cup and they drank. People

  46. begin to gag, people begin.

  47. To spit it out. I like, this is my version

  48. of the story. People begin to vomit. Now when when

  49. I drank it, I like had to pause because I

  50. was like, what in the world is that? And when

  51. we sent our volunteers to go buy grape juice, they

  52. mistaked grape juice for prune juice. So we served prune

  53. juice at that communion service two years ago. That went

  54. down in history, and I like to say we made

  55. everyone regular that week. But today we're talking about what

  56. it means to be all in. Pastor Morgan introduced this

  57. series last week, and today I want to talk to

  58. you about what you need to understand and appreciate if

  59. you truly want to be all in adventure. And I

  60. really believe that there are three things that you and

  61. I need to be fully on the same page with

  62. that we need to understand and appreciate. And the first

  63. one is you need to understand and appreciate our journey.

  64. You need to know our history. You need to know

  65. what brought us to this point. Did you know the

  66. first Sunday in November we formally celebrate our twenty.

  67. Second birthday as a church.

  68. I thought it was our twenty third birthday, but I

  69. got corrected by my wife after the first service, so

  70. I like to say the first service, that's our run

  71. through service.

  72. But I want to give you an idea of our

  73. history of our church. Here it is.

  74. Whenever I do discover venture, which is dinner with the

  75. pastor we do it every month for all of the guests.

  76. I do a brief overview of this. Now, when we

  77. were only in existence for five years, it was easy.

  78. Then it got to ten years, we could simplify it.

  79. But now that we're at twenty two years, this takes

  80. a while. But all of these dates symbolize a lot

  81. of things, and I want to emphasize this that I

  82. think it is impossible to separate the future of our

  83. church from its past. I don't think you can appreciate

  84. where we're going until you have a clear understanding of

  85. where we've been.

  86. There is a verse.

  87. I quoted it a couple of weeks ago, but I

  88. want to remind you again, and it's Matthew sixteen, verse eighteen,

  89. and Jesus was talking to his disciples, and he specifically

  90. began to address Peter and he said, I tell you

  91. that you are Peter, and on this rock I will

  92. build my church and the gates of Hell will not

  93. overcome it.

  94. Church. Honestly, if you want to be all in at venture,

  95. you need.

  96. To understand and appreciate the journey that the Church has

  97. been on. It is impossible to separate our past from

  98. our future. And over these twenty two years, I have

  99. had an amazing board, just incredibly supportive men and women

  100. that love the Church, love Jesus, bring all of their

  101. unique giftings and talents to our regular board meetings. In fact,

  102. in two weeks, for the first time in twenty two years,

  103. we are actually doing a board retreat. There's a few

  104. big visionary things that we need to navigate through discuss

  105. and we're getting away for a couple days just to

  106. figure those things out. But over the years we've had

  107. an amazing board full of men and women that have

  108. brought a great perspective to our meetings. But I will

  109. be honest and say not everyone was a great fit.

  110. They were great people, they weren't a great fit.

  111. And I remember one.

  112. Particular board member we had years ago, and this board

  113. member hated talking about the history of the church. Just

  114. any time I would refer to something that had happened

  115. in the past, he would pull me aside after the

  116. board meeting and he would correct me. Now, the way

  117. that I operate, when I present a big initiative that

  118. I want the board to wrestle through, I will always

  119. share context, because it is impossible to look to the

  120. future until you understand the journey that the church has

  121. been on. So I will explain and bring every one

  122. of our board members up to speed on where we've been,

  123. what we've done in the past, and why we've landed

  124. on this as a potential initiative for the church. And

  125. every time I did it, he hated it. And it

  126. was because he was new to the church. He'd been

  127. around for like three years. He was a very experienced

  128. board member. In fact, he had been a board member

  129. of another church than that church had over the years,

  130. celebrated over one hundred years of being in existence. Now,

  131. when you are a part of a church church that's

  132. over one hundred years old, you don't talk about the

  133. past a lot. You know why, because no one presently

  134. in the church knows it. No one knows the story

  135. of how they bought the building they have heard urban

  136. legends about it, but people hadn't experienced it. So he

  137. wasn't used to going into board meetings where the past

  138. influenced where the future was headed.

  139. But at this church, there's a lot of us that.

  140. Have been here since day one, Like we've been in

  141. all eleven buildings that we have had as a church.

  142. In fact, I want to show you a picture. This

  143. isn't even eleven buildings. These are six of the locations

  144. we've been since. This is the last ten to forty

  145. five service. We're gonna have fun today, so we're gonna

  146. play a game.

  147. How many of you have been in all.

  148. Six of these locations? Raise your hand, let me explain

  149. what they are. Just some of your Like I bad eyesight,

  150. I can't tell. That is Jackson High School. We were

  151. actually there on two separate occasions. In the middle is

  152. where we started Heatherwood Middle School. Over on the right,

  153. we call this the ev Muck Building over by Boeing

  154. down in the you've all get it. You all been

  155. in this one. This is the building you're currently in.

  156. If you didn't know you were in that one, please

  157. see Morgan after the service because you need help. We

  158. call this middle one. This is the first building that

  159. we ever owned as a church. This is the Ashway Building.

  160. We have a strong affinity for this building. Did you

  161. know it's currently a church of Scientology. Maybe we should

  162. never have sold it.

  163. And then this we call this the Dome? All right?

  164. Six buildings? How many of you? Raise your hand? Have

  165. you been in all six? Look around?

  166. Raise your hand up, Come on, be proud, you're ogs.

  167. Look at these people have been at all six buildings.

  168. That means they know the history. Put your hands down.

  169. How many of you have been in five of these buildings?

  170. Raise your hand? Okay, how many of you have been

  171. in just four of these buildings?

  172. Look at this? People have been in four of them.

  173. Love it. Put your hands down, all right? How many

  174. of you you be honest, you've only been in three?

  175. Say some of you? Good looking up in the balcony.

  176. I see you. Put your hands down. How many of you.

  177. Have been in two of these buildings? Likely it was

  178. the Dome or Jackson and this building. Raise your hand.

  179. If people only been in two, that's why there's so

  180. few of you. That's why we call those the dark

  181. days of venture.

  182. All right, how many of you have only been in

  183. this building. Raise your hand all right, put your hands

  184. down perfect.

  185. This board member obviously is no longer on the board,

  186. and that was because he struggled to appreciate our history

  187. and how our history has dramatically influenced where we're going

  188. in our future. Here's the challenge that you have. Di

  189. and I are the founding pastors. So we have been

  190. leading this church now for twenty two years. Most founding pastors,

  191. this is statistically in America, most founding pastors transition from

  192. the church they launched within the first three to five years.

  193. We navigated through that. Did you know?

  194. In addition, most lead pastors transition within two years of

  195. a major building program. Do you know how many major

  196. building programs I've had here, maybe eight, and we've navigated

  197. through every one of them. Di and I soon will

  198. share our twenty sixth anniversary, twenty sixth, twenty second It

  199. all becomes a blurr. After a while twenty second year

  200. of being the pastors of this church, we are planning

  201. on retiring as the pastors of this church.

  202. This will be the only church likely that Di and

  203. I will ever lead.

  204. And I say that because it is impossible when the

  205. founding pastor is still leading the church twenty five years later.

  206. To separate the past from the future.

  207. If you want to be all in adventure, you need

  208. to not just understand, but appreciate the journey that brought

  209. us to this point. One of the things that blows

  210. my mind over the years is my current office. Now,

  211. we did the last expansion. We added the executive wing,

  212. and I gotta be honest, I.

  213. Love my office. My office is bougie.

  214. You walk into my office, it is like you stepped

  215. out of the TV show Yellowstone.

  216. I am super proud of my office.

  217. And those of you that don't understand our history just think,

  218. of course pastor big church wants a big office. You

  219. don't know the offices that I've had over the years.

  220. Let me just share with you a couple. I had

  221. an office in the Mill Creek Town Center that my

  222. little square box square in the middle of it was

  223. a pole in the middle of the office, a pole.

  224. I had my dad bumped up to the pole.

  225. When I would have people meet with me, they would

  226. have to choose which side of the pole they needed.

  227. To sit on.

  228. That was one of my offices, and up to then,

  229. that was my nicest office. One of my offices I

  230. had was in an industrial space on both LeVert Highway

  231. in one eightieth It was painted smurf blue. It smelled

  232. so bad of diesel fuel from the company that was

  233. next door that every hour I had to leave the

  234. office because my eyes were getting bloodshot from inhaling diesel

  235. fuel and just breathe oxygen outside and not good oxygen

  236. because it was bothele Livert Highway oxygen.

  237. So I have seen all of these things.

  238. In fact, did you know, Morgan Butcher one time had

  239. an office that actually the boiler room at the church.

  240. It wasn't in office, it was a boiler room. But

  241. we told Morgan, here's your office as the youth pastor.

  242. You cannot separate the past from our future.

  243. And let me tell you why, because the past is

  244. a reminder that God's hand is on this church. When

  245. Jesus looked at Peter and he said, Peter, on this rock,

  246. I'll build my church, and the gates of Hell will

  247. not prevail against it church. I cannot tell you how

  248. many times venture church in twenty two years has had

  249. to fight the gates of hell. Do you know how

  250. many times the enemy has tried to shut this church?

  251. Down. I know the stories. I know all the mere miracles.

  252. I know this building you were sitting in is an

  253. absolute miracle.

  254. Nobody here knows how. I had to fight city council.

  255. I had to fight the county council. I had to

  256. fight the environmentalists. I had to fight peta, I had

  257. to fight the neighbors. I had to fight blenders. I

  258. had to fight everybody to get this building bill. And

  259. when we first had a service here, I couldn't believe it.

  260. I'd given up a long time ago that this was

  261. even possible. And every time we have a worship service

  262. in here, and there's one like in the middle of August,

  263. and I'm looking people on the balcony, the floor is

  264. almost full youth at the altar and they're singing this

  265. song about revival.

  266. I'm thinking, that's why we went to war to get

  267. this thing built. Did you notice.

  268. When I said how many of you this is the

  269. only church building that you've ever been in with venture

  270. that means you're new within the last six years, that

  271. was eighty percent of you. Can I tell you why

  272. we built this building because we believed you'd come someday.

  273. We believed you'd come find Jesus here. That's why that

  274. twenty percent of people that have been here before this building.

  275. That's why we gave money.

  276. That's why we went back to a high school again,

  277. after having multiple buildings that we'd own. We did all

  278. of that believing someday, if we build it, people will come,

  279. and people's lives will be changed, and the church will grow.

  280. When we see you raise your hands, we are reminded

  281. once again that venture was a God idea long before

  282. it was a grad school thesis pro For me, you

  283. can't separate the past from our future. Why are we

  284. doing what we're doing in the kids area because there's

  285. gonna come a day in a couple of years. I'm

  286. gonna ask how many of you are new to the

  287. church since we expanded and updated our kids area, and

  288. fifty percent of the hands are gonna raise, and those

  289. of you that are here right now are gonna look

  290. around and think, that's why I sacrificially gave for that.

  291. I gave so that this miracle would happen.

  292. Church.

  293. You cannot appreciate the future until you understand the past.

  294. We just had Jared ming here a couple of weeks ago,

  295. and Jared and I have spoke for each other's churches

  296. for twenty one years. We were on staff together in Modesto.

  297. He was the worship pastor. I was the youth pastor.

  298. I moved to Seattle, die and I we start venture.

  299. He moves to la Him and de Vet and they

  300. start higher vision. And the most amazing thing for both

  301. of us are seeing number one, how large our churches are.

  302. But number two, we're still pastoring those churches over twenty

  303. years later. You can't appreciate the future until you understand

  304. the past. And I'm reminded again we had a promise

  305. from God on this rock, all build my church and

  306. the gates of Hell will not prevail against it. For

  307. about the first fifteen years of the church, there was

  308. one verse. It was the theme of eighty percent of

  309. my sermons. Some of you, I'm gonna mention it. If

  310. you've been here for at least five years, you'll think, okay,

  311. I can finish that verse because Brandon quoted it all

  312. the time.

  313. In fact, I mentioned this.

  314. In the first service, and people started sending me pictures

  315. of when.

  316. I wrote that verse on the floor of this building.

  317. And it's Galatians six', Nine and is this great, reminder

  318. let us not become weary and doing, good because at

  319. the proper time you will reap a harvest if you

  320. do not give. Up raise your hand. Again if this

  321. is the only church, building this new building At venture

  322. you've ever, been and raise.

  323. It look it, Up raise it, up be proud everybody.

  324. Else look. Around this is what that verse.

  325. Promised all these hands you, see this is what was

  326. promised that if we didn't give, up we would reap a.

  327. Harvest this building is a. Miracle you're sitting in a.

  328. Miracle if you wonder if miracles happen, today you are

  329. sitting in one right. NOW i want you to appreciate

  330. the history of our, church And i've made it easy for.

  331. YOU i want you to scan THIS qr. CODE i

  332. don't want you to look it up, now but scan.

  333. It get the save the. Link this is a link

  334. to a documentary on the history Of venture that we

  335. showed at our twentieth. Birthday it shows the crazy things we've.

  336. Done it tells the stories of the great things That

  337. god has. Done it's, funny it's, moving and the weirdest

  338. part is you get to watch the progression Of Morgan

  339. butcher's hair so, hey church still Stands morgan's hair. Doesn't

  340. to be all in it, venture you need to understand

  341. and appreciate what.

  342. Led us to this. Point number.

  343. Two to be all in at, venture you need to

  344. understand and appreciate.

  345. Our core.

  346. Values our core values are so important that they are

  347. written on the pillars that hold up the roof of this.

  348. Building people ask me all the time when they hear

  349. the story THAT i wrote HOW i would plant a

  350. church as the thesis for My masters Of divinity. PROJECT

  351. i never planned on planting a. Church but AFTER i

  352. had finished my thesis and turned it, IN i felt

  353. like The Holy spirit spoke to me and, Said, brandon

  354. will you give your thirties to church? Planning after like

  355. two years of two months gives me of wrestling through

  356. Die AND i finally, said we will give our thirties

  357. to church. Planning the number one question THAT i get

  358. asked from everybody when they hear that is CAN i

  359. see your? Thesis we do have a copy of You

  360. i'm not sure exactly where it. IS i will say

  361. it's not a priority to find, it copy it and

  362. give you, it And i'll tell you why because we

  363. threw it out after the first, week because there is

  364. no manual for planting a. Church they're all, different the

  365. journey is. Different the only thing in the thesis that

  366. still applies today is that we wanted a church that

  367. was built on its core, values that there would be

  368. these non negotiables that in the history of the church

  369. would never. Change you need to know these core. Values

  370. these are who we. Are these explain why we make

  371. the decisions that we. Do these are the values that

  372. we want, you as a part of venture to embody,

  373. also and they are number one.

  374. Mission we are driven by our.

  375. Mission jesus his last command to his, disciples to his,

  376. followers it's called The Great. Commission you find it In

  377. matthew chapter twenty, eight verse. Nineteen jesus, said go and

  378. make disciples of all. Nations why do we have a

  379. group of teenagers right now In Puerto, Rico because we

  380. are fulfilling what is the.

  381. Great commission to.

  382. Us we are sending people on missions trips because that's

  383. what we should. Do go and make disciples of all,

  384. nations baptizing them in the name of The, father of The,

  385. son and of The Holy, spirit and teaching them to

  386. obey everything That i've. COMMANDED i tell, everybody this church

  387. exists for. Mission you're way. Early you can just chill

  388. for a little. BIT i decided to go, along BUT

  389. i appreciate you being. Here how many of the six

  390. buildings have you been?

  391. In so Four.

  392. Gary's men in Four gary's had me embarrass him publicly

  393. over four.

  394. Buildings you exist for. Mission the church exists for. Mission

  395. you know?

  396. Why the church doesn't exist so that your kids have

  397. a safe environment at Kids. Church the church doesn't exist

  398. so that your teenagers have a youth ministry where they

  399. can find. Friends did you know the church doesn't exist

  400. so you can have a small. Group those aren't the

  401. reasons the church. Exists the church exists for. Mission in other,

  402. words the church exists so that people that don't Know

  403. jesus can have the opportunity to begin a relationship with.

  404. HIM i hope you appreciate the journey that brought you

  405. to this. POINT i hope you remember the story of

  406. when you had that aha, moment the light bulb went

  407. on and you began a relationship With, jesus and then

  408. my biggest hope is that you want everyone else to

  409. experience the same life changing relationship With jesus that you've.

  410. Had The church exists for.

  411. Mission by the, way those other, things they're, important but

  412. they're secondary to the reason that the church, exists which is.

  413. Mission in, FACT i believe every follower Of jesus that

  414. you exist for, mission and that you should be regularly asking,

  415. yourself how's? Mission how AM i doing? Mission one core?

  416. Value community is our second core. Value we're devoted to

  417. authentic community and authentic commitment to each. OTHER i Know

  418. Pastor morgan did an amazing job teaching on this last,

  419. week but let me remind You hebrews. Ten hebrews ten,

  420. says let us consider how we may spur one another

  421. on toward love and good. DEEDS i think we all

  422. agree we should be challenging each, other encouraging each other

  423. to do. Good we should be challenging each, other encouraging each,

  424. other inspiring each other to love people to love each.

  425. Other we all agree on. That the problem is we

  426. forget the end of the.

  427. Verse it says. Not he says we should all agree

  428. love good, deeds but not give up meeting, together.

  429. As some are in the habit of. Doing you know

  430. the crazy thing about this? Verse this was written over

  431. two thousand years. Ago it's almost like it was written

  432. for the church in twenty twenty.

  433. Six.

  434. NOW i love the fact That jesus And christianity is

  435. becoming cool. AGAIN i love that Gen z is finding

  436. faith In jesus like. CRAZY i think it's. Awesome but

  437. there is this rising contingent of people that say, THIS

  438. i Love, jesus BUT i don't love the. Church i'm A,

  439. CHRISTIAN i just don't do the church. Thing, Okay i've

  440. been leading venture for twenty two. YEARS i was a

  441. youth pastor for twelve years before, that So i've been

  442. professionally a minister for thirty four. Years i've had thousands

  443. of peace people call me pastor over those thirty four.

  444. Years and in my thirty four, YEARS i have not

  445. seen an exception to this. RULE i have never seen a,

  446. growing thriving follower Of jesus that is not committed and

  447. connected to a body. Believers the myth That i'm A

  448. CHRISTIAN i just don't do the church is one of

  449. the greatest lies of the. Enemy for every one person

  450. that you might know somewhere in your life that is

  451. a Committed, christian they just don't do. CHURCH i will

  452. show you a hundred that said that that it wasn't

  453. true when it was all said and.

  454. Done in, Fact i'll go this.

  455. Far if you are not consistently attending church over a

  456. two month period of, time you are likely. Backsliding, well

  457. you got really. QUIET i think those two things go

  458. hand in. Hand why is That because IF i can't

  459. make it without being connected to a body of, believers

  460. it's really hard for me to believe that you. Can

  461. we need to, commit and committing to a church is

  462. not like being committed to your coffee. Shop you, know

  463. some of you you're really into a coffee shop when

  464. you live in the neighborhood and it's close and convenient

  465. and you like the brand of. Coffee but as soon

  466. as one or two things change you. Bail you need

  467. to like, say this is my. FAMILY i am choosing

  468. to commit to these, people which means you commit in

  469. the good and it's easy to commit when everything's.

  470. Good but you also commit when you're.

  471. At Jackson high schoo for the second time you have

  472. no building because you demoed the building and all you're

  473. doing is raising money to hopefully build a. Building you

  474. commit in those. Times you commit when it's good you

  475. commit when it's, bad you commit when it's, easy you

  476. commit when it's.

  477. Hard that is what family.

  478. Does if you're constantly switching your commitment from one church

  479. to the, next this is because you view church from

  480. the perspective solely of what DO i get out of?

  481. Church not what CAN i.

  482. Contribute if ALL i think in my family is what

  483. DO i get out of this, family Then i'm not

  484. a really good. Father Then i'm really not a very

  485. good family, member because INSTEAD i should be thinking how

  486. DO i? Invest how DO i? Contribute how DO i?

  487. Help that is the.

  488. MOTIVATION i think it's important for us to be in community.

  489. Together we're, Stronger we're meant.

  490. To live life.

  491. Together how many of you you're dating yourself? Here how

  492. many of you remember THE tv Show? Cheers see you're

  493. all the ones who weren't raised in church because it's

  494. about a. Bar But cheers is famous for their song

  495. that was sang at the, beginning And sean did it on,

  496. Cues so let's let him do it.

  497. Again how does the song, Go, sean keep going?

  498. Perfect our desire adventure is that you be known and

  499. that you know. Someone our desire. Adventure how did they

  500. respond at The cheers bar Whenever norm walked.

  501. In what did they? Do i'm gonna count to.

  502. Three everybody do, it, one, two, Three they Shouted norm

  503. every time he walk into the. Bar here's WHAT i

  504. Want next, week When Pastor johnny is back and he

  505. comes up on the platform to do all of his

  506. intro pre service, STUFF i want you guys to scream

  507. and Unison, johnny and Then johnny to wonder what's, up

  508. and Then i'll tell him go watch THE tv Show

  509. cheers and you'll figure it. Out you cannot understand and

  510. appreciate venture unless you know our core values mission.

  511. Community, finally.

  512. Generosity we want to create a culture of inspirational. GENEROSITY

  513. i believe it is irresistible For god to bless a generous.

  514. CHURCH i also believe it is irresistible For god to

  515. bless a generous. Person so we unapologetically challenge you to,

  516. tithe to give above your tithe. Generously because generosity is

  517. an act of. Worship generosity is a practical way for

  518. us to testify About god's goodness and.

  519. Provision generosity is.

  520. Contagious did you know that radical generosity is something that everybody,

  521. celebrates even people that don't go to, church have no faith.

  522. Whatsoever it astounds. People here's an.

  523. Example we have a horrible wildfire's happening in our, state

  524. but it's on the east. Side it's five hours disconnected

  525. from you AND. I but last week we took a

  526. spontaneous offering for The spokane. Wildfires you guys gave over

  527. twenty thousand thousand. Dollars has proved. It generosity is something

  528. that everybody. Celebrates radical generosity blows people's.

  529. Mind you know, why because we're naturally.

  530. Stingy but when we see people, give and by the,

  531. way when we see the total of all of our

  532. collaborative giving twenty thousand dollars spontaneously in the middle of the,

  533. summer in all of the different fundraising campaigns that venture

  534. has been in the middle, of is pretty. AWESOME i

  535. was so proud to be all an. Adventure you need

  536. to understand and. Appreciate, finally number, three our mission statement

  537. and our. Creed what is our mission statement at our?

  538. Church Make jesus. Famous it's so. Easy everybody knows. It

  539. you can quote.

  540. It it's on the. Wall it's three.

  541. Words even like the person that's the worst at memorization

  542. can remember three words Make jesus. Famous the fun thing

  543. for me is all SUMMER i spoke at churches all

  544. over AND i would talk about, like Make jesus famous

  545. is our church's mission.

  546. Statement and now.

  547. Churches are dropping all of their fall merch so it's

  548. starting to hit online social media right. Now ours drops next,

  549. week by the, Way and so many of the churches

  550. THAT i spoke at like the Make Jesus famous thing

  551. that it's on all THEIR t.

  552. Shirts SO i will.

  553. Be wearing MANY t shirts from many different churches with

  554. our mission statement on. It but it's just this reminder

  555. that we're not here to make venture, famous that we're

  556. here to Make jesus. Famous that this is not about

  557. everybody knowing Who brandon, is but everybody knowing Who jesus.

  558. Is Make jesus famous is broken down in our, creed

  559. which has three. Parts you hear me quoted all the.

  560. Time did we Believe jesus is the hope of the world.

  561. Period there was a famous pastor about fifteen years ago

  562. wrote a ton of books and coined the phrase the

  563. church is the.

  564. Hope of the. World we are not the hope of the.

  565. World we are screw.

  566. Ups we do too many embarrassing things to be the

  567. hope of the. World we were never meant to have

  568. that level of pressure, or by the, way that level of.

  569. Credit when things go, well the church is not the

  570. hope of the. World he is.

  571. Wrong jesus is the hope of the. World jesus will

  572. not let you, down he will not fail. You by the,

  573. way it ultimately wasn't a church that changed your. Life

  574. it was a relationship With jesus that changed.

  575. It jesus is the hope of the.

  576. World second part of our creed is we believe The

  577. gospel changes. LIVES i get asked all the time what

  578. is our preaching, strategy AND i, say we preach through

  579. books of The.

  580. BIBLE i shared that.

  581. With somebody a couple days, ago and the pastor of

  582. the church, said, oh, yeah once a year we do

  583. an in depth study through a book of The bible

  584. for two. Months AND i was, like, adventure we do

  585. a topical series once a year because all we do

  586. is teach through The. Bible in, fact starting In, September

  587. i'm teaching a series Through ezra And. Nehemiah some of

  588. you didn't even Know ezra And nehemiah were books of The.

  589. Bible by the end of this, year you will know

  590. it backwards and. Forwards and by the way you were

  591. going to conclude, THIS i did not know this was

  592. in The.

  593. Bible that is.

  594. Amazing it is totally applicable to my life. Today and

  595. my hope and prayer is you SAY i need to

  596. study The bible.

  597. More CAN i tell you?

  598. Why because it's not my persuasive words that change. You

  599. it's not some creative one liner that a church creates

  600. that changes.

  601. You it is Studying god's.

  602. Word it transforms you from the inside out and you

  603. will never be the same. Again my, goal beyond, anything

  604. is to make you love reading and studying this because

  605. this will change.

  606. You So jesus is the hope of the.

  607. World The gospel changes, lies but there is a spot

  608. for us that The Church big c Is god's chosen

  609. agency to advance this. Message why do we? Exist we

  610. exist to tell Everybody jesus is the hope of the.

  611. World hope of the world is not in your four

  612. to one K the hope of the world is not

  613. in who you. Elect the hope of the world is

  614. not in a, Person it is not in a, Country

  615. it is not in a. Government it is In. Jesus

  616. he is the hope of the. World and by the way,

  617. this if you allow this to penetrate the hardness of your.

  618. Heart and some of you are here this morning and

  619. your heart is. Hard but if you allow this book

  620. to penetrate the hardness of your, heart it will transform your.

  621. Life you will never be the. Same you can go

  622. and Play gary Because i'm. Done he was our one

  623. year anniversary as a. Church my, pastor Also Pastor tyrone's,

  624. Pastor Glenn, bertow came and he spoke at our one

  625. year anniverse AND i gotta be, HONEST i was a

  626. little bit embarrassed to have. Him we were at The

  627. Heatherwood Middle school cafeteria on metal folding. Chairs might have

  628. been two hundred and fifty people, there AND i knew

  629. this was probably the smallest crowd That Pastor berteau had

  630. spoken in front of in five.

  631. Years but he came and he.

  632. PREACHED i sat in the front, row and As Pastor berteau,

  633. preached he talked about being committed to. CHURCH i remember

  634. sitting there, thinking you can't Tell seattle people. This they're

  635. all gonna leave if you ask them to be. Committed

  636. and Then he ended his message by, saying here's WHAT

  637. i want you to do. Today he, Goes brandon is

  638. going to be standing out in the lobby, greeting.

  639. And as you, exit if this is your, CHURCH i

  640. want you to.

  641. Shake his, hand look him in the, eyes and, say

  642. our families committed to this. Church AND i remember when

  643. he said, THAT i felt so, awkward AND i remember

  644. saying under my, BREATH i don't need people to do.

  645. THAT i don't need them to do.

  646. That and Then DIAN i stood in the lobby after that,

  647. service and people started coming, up some of you and

  648. shook our, hands looked us in the eyes and, said we're,

  649. In we're, Committed we're all. In and by about the

  650. fourth or fifth, Person dian AND i were sobbing in

  651. the lobby as person after, person after one year of this,

  652. place looked and said we're all. In and remember it

  653. meant so much to us because something that was just a,

  654. dream something that we'd given up a lot to, start

  655. other people were now commit to. To why do we

  656. want you to do things like go through our ownership,

  657. Classes why do we want you to hear things like

  658. being all?

  659. In because there's nothing that means.

  660. More to our staff than knowing that there is a

  661. group of, people a large group of people that are

  662. committed to the mission of this, church that are committed

  663. to the community of this.

  664. CHURCH i said it in the first.

  665. Service i'll say it Again October's Pastor's Appreciation.

  666. Month there's nothing that shows.

  667. Love and appreciation more to the pastoral staff than knowing

  668. that the people that we sacrificially serve day in and

  669. day out are committed to the mission and community of this.

  670. Church it means a.

  671. Lot you just officially Finished Discover, venture the first step

  693. journey that this church has been, on And i'm thankful

  694. for our. Journey But, Lord i'm excited for our. Future And,

  719. by you can place any giving in there you're kam

  720. prepared to. Give you can also use THE qr codes

  721. on the screen or the giftab on the. App but

  722. the other big Categories Kingdom builders And brina mentioned it

  723. in his message Last sunday, morning we took a spontaneous

  724. offering across all of our campuses and gave twenty thousand.

  725. Dollars that is one way your king dollars are making

  726. a right now difference outside of The walls. Adventure another

  727. one is we partner with a table In Federal way

  728. called or a church Called The table In Federal, way

  729. and they do a big back to school outreach every,

  730. year and, you through Your Kingdom miller's, dollars gave ten

  731. thousand dollars to this outreach to make a difference in

  732. a very economically suppressed area of our.

  733. State so good job giving To Kingdom.

  734. Milders your dollars are making a. Difference so when those

  735. buckets go, by you can also place in there a

  736. paper connection card if you happen to fill that. Out let's, Pray,

  737. lord thank you for how you are allowing us to

  738. be a part of something bigger than ourselves when we,

  739. give and thank you that those dollars are making a

  740. real impact in the, world right around us and around the.

  741. World so we ask you a bless and use this

  742. in your.
