  4. [SPEAKER_01]: And yet, we have that great powerful source, and yet, there's something that abides, Roman 6th calls them the old man, that old nature that lives within.

  5. [SPEAKER_01]: And as he uses here, he uses the phrase, the flesh, sin that dwells within me.

  6. [SPEAKER_01]: One of the greatest ways for you to know, whether you are a Christian or not, is based on this text.

  7. [SPEAKER_01]: And the way you know if you're a Christian or not, is if you battle.

  8. [SPEAKER_01]: If you're not battling, I'm going like, wow, either you are a superhero or something's missing in you.

  9. [SPEAKER_01]: We are made up of three parts, body, soul, spirit.

  10. [SPEAKER_01]: We are made in the likeness of our God, father, son, Holy Spirit.

  11. [SPEAKER_01]: And inside of each and ever one of us, we are there, and yet before we are saved, the spirit inside of you and I is dead.

  12. [SPEAKER_01]: It's dead to God.

  13. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not alive to Him.

  14. [SPEAKER_01]: It can't talk to God because it doesn't have that communion with Him because as Ephesians 2, you who were dead in trespasses and sins, has He made alive or has quickened.

  15. [SPEAKER_01]: He made something alive inside of you, the moment you trust a Christ is your Savior.

  16. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's why, listen, before you got saved, the only thing that was governing you is either your parents, a teacher, society, what you deemed to be good or bad in your own mind, that's how pretty much you governed your whole life.

  17. [SPEAKER_01]: And then the moment you got saved, now something that is holy, has entered inside of you, it is the Holy Spirit of God.

  18. [SPEAKER_01]: And inside of you, this Holy Spirit, as we see about the law that is holy and cannot do anything wrong, the mind is choosing those things that the spirit is bringing into your mind to do the right things, that's perfect.

  19. [SPEAKER_01]: And yet, you kept that old

  20. [SPEAKER_01]: And now, all of a sudden you got this battle.

  21. [SPEAKER_01]: I explained it to you in a humble way that before I was a Christian, I drank a lot.

  22. [SPEAKER_01]: Every weekend I was drinking as much as I possibly could I drank that's what my buddies and I did we drank We would get our kegs or cases when we go to the mountains and Pennsylvania and that's what we would do I'd be there from Friday until Sunday night and that's what I did Of course, I was everybody's buddy because I was buying most of the time It's amazing how your friends is love you when you're buying and as soon as the money's run out See you later buddy, but anyways

  23. [SPEAKER_01]: After I became a Christian, all of a sudden, this was where the talk I had with God.

  24. [SPEAKER_01]: I said, God, I want to be saved.

  25. [SPEAKER_01]: I want to go to heaven.

  26. [SPEAKER_01]: I want to quit drinking.

  27. [SPEAKER_01]: No, I love the stuff.

  28. [SPEAKER_01]: So much, maybe not the liquor as much as I did the good times.

  29. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't want to give that up.

  30. [SPEAKER_01]: It isn't an amazing that after I became Christian, that that's the first thing that all of a sudden I became to battle with.

  31. [SPEAKER_01]: Seeing it before Christ, nobody's going to tell me what to do.

  32. [SPEAKER_01]: But now all of a sudden, I'm talking with God and I'm having this battle inside of me with Him.

  33. [SPEAKER_01]: I was out drinking after I became Christian.

  34. [SPEAKER_01]: The camera started to come along, taking every place picture at the party.

  35. [SPEAKER_01]: Can I tell you what I did?

  36. [SPEAKER_01]: I took that Genesee cream ale, can.

  37. [SPEAKER_01]: And I went like this, and put it behind me when they came to me to take my picture.

  38. [SPEAKER_01]: Now six months before that, I would have gone, who cares?

  39. [SPEAKER_00]: Who cares?

  40. [SPEAKER_01]: Why all of a sudden is there this?

  41. [SPEAKER_01]: This is dirty.

  42. [SPEAKER_01]: This isn't right for me.

  43. [SPEAKER_01]: Not, this isn't it.

  44. [SPEAKER_01]: Sadly, I saw the picture afterward.

  45. [SPEAKER_01]: I put the can a little too low.

  46. [SPEAKER_01]: You could see the can of beer that I was holding underneath my chair.

  47. [SPEAKER_01]: I couldn't even hide at the floors like I'm going to show you your disgrace.

  48. [SPEAKER_01]: You know who I was thinking about?

  49. [SPEAKER_01]: The Lord, I was also thinking about my mother-in-law.

  50. [SPEAKER_01]: She had won me to Christ, and I knew that she would be ashamed.

  51. [SPEAKER_01]: There was a battle raging inside of me that I never had before.

  52. [SPEAKER_01]: I began to be confused.

  53. [SPEAKER_01]: of what's right, what's wrong.

  54. [SPEAKER_01]: Yet to understand, I didn't know the Bible when I got saved.

  55. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't know the books of the Bible.

  56. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't have any verses memorized.

  57. [SPEAKER_01]: It was very ignorant to the word.

  58. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't know what God wanted of me and what He demanded of me.

  59. [SPEAKER_01]: All that I knew was something was going on inside of me.

  60. [SPEAKER_01]: and God began through time to bring a purification in my life.

  61. [SPEAKER_01]: But I also find this, to this day as your pastor, there will always be things that I battle with, and you battle with.

  62. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's why we know we're Christians.

  63. [SPEAKER_01]: There is something yet within side, yet within you and I, that old nature, the ones that bring anger, resentment, envy, coveting, it doesn't care about anybody else, what

  64. [SPEAKER_01]: And yet, the mind between the flesh, the old man, and now the Spirit of God that's inside, the Spirit of God is over here saying, but you can still do all things through Christ because He strengthens you.

  65. [SPEAKER_01]: My love for Lord can strengthen us to do the right thing.

  66. [SPEAKER_01]: When we're in the Word, the way we should be in prayer, fellowship with our God is where it needs to be.

  67. [SPEAKER_01]: There is this strength.

  68. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's why he says, the inner man, he says in verse 1, I delight in the law of God, after the inner man, that's where the Spirit of God is dwelling inside.

  69. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like, I want to do the right thing.

  70. [SPEAKER_01]: I want to live for him.

  71. [SPEAKER_01]: Lord, I love you.

  72. [SPEAKER_01]: Understand how much you gave yourself we're gonna have communion in a little bit thinking about the alter sacrifice that Christ did for us humble us and realizing for our sin for that sin He died and shed his blood brings us right back to reality

  73. [SPEAKER_01]: You say, why do you know for sure that Paul was talking about himself as a Christian?

  74. [SPEAKER_01]: It's because of what he just said, there is a delight in the law, the inward man.

  75. [SPEAKER_01]: And yet he sees a law in the members, the flesh, warring against the law of the mind.

  76. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's the battle going back and forth.

  77. [SPEAKER_01]: The lost people don't battle like this.

  78. [SPEAKER_01]: This is for Christians.

  79. [SPEAKER_01]: We battle.

  80. [SPEAKER_01]: the victories through Christ matures us to a place where we can glorify our God in our lives.

  81. [SPEAKER_01]: A defeated Christian life.

  82. [SPEAKER_01]: Does not give glory and honor to our God.

  83. [SPEAKER_01]: We have shamed His name.

  84. [SPEAKER_01]: We have shamed the Lord's church.

  85. [SPEAKER_01]: We have shamed our family and the cause of Christ.

  86. [SPEAKER_01]: God wants us to live victorious Christian lives for Him.

  87. [SPEAKER_01]: We're going to break this down in a couple of weeks, start verse by verse, but I want to build a case for you today.

  88. [SPEAKER_01]: Because some would accuse me and maybe others that would teach this text that this is giving a license to sin or a license to do whatever the believer wants.

  89. [SPEAKER_01]: Now, that's not what this text is teaching.

  90. [SPEAKER_01]: In other words, when we find Paul saying, boy, there's good things that I want to do, hmmm, forgot, didn't do them.

  91. [SPEAKER_01]: And those bad things that I would never, ever, ever do.

  92. [SPEAKER_01]: And I find myself doing it.

  93. [SPEAKER_01]: And he says, you know why I did it?

  94. [SPEAKER_01]: Because there was sin in me.

  95. [SPEAKER_01]: I yielded to that wrong thing, that the members yielded to that.

  96. [SPEAKER_01]: And I found myself falling.

  97. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, Richard, man, I am.

  98. [SPEAKER_01]: But this is Paul.

  99. [SPEAKER_01]: writing down and penting down the very word of God.

  100. [SPEAKER_01]: This is the man that emptied himself and went all of these missionary trips and starting churches and leading pastors and establishing and ordaining all the things that God had had him to do.

  101. [SPEAKER_01]: This is Paul, folks.

  102. [SPEAKER_01]: And he looks at himself.

  103. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, his day was nothing but a worm.

  104. [SPEAKER_01]: Nothing but a bunch of dirt russled together.

  105. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm a wretched, horrible man.

  106. [SPEAKER_01]: All of a sudden, if we stop and think that Paul could call himself this old nature that he has wretched, suddenly it humbles you and I doesn't it to be thinking of all the arrogance and pride and the things that we think we've accomplished for our God, suddenly it becomes very small.

  107. [SPEAKER_01]: As Hebrews says, how many of us have resisted unto blood?

  108. [SPEAKER_01]: very few of us ever will and yet Paul did of whom the world wasn't even worthy and yet he says I can't wait to get delivered

  109. [SPEAKER_01]: Talk to Rojo Jean Bridger and Sandy's here today.

  110. [SPEAKER_01]: We've been praying for you young lady.

  111. [SPEAKER_01]: She went home and be with the Lord.

  112. [SPEAKER_01]: As we had his service on Monday, I was reminding the family of something that Jean shared with me just a few days before he went home and be with the Lord.

  113. [SPEAKER_01]: He's an entire, tired of fighting, tired of the battle.

  114. [SPEAKER_01]: Physically, absolutely, but I think mentally, there was a battle going on that each of us goes through.

  115. [SPEAKER_01]: Sweet little Betty Dow, she was back in the hospital this way, she was really sick and every time I'm with her, she's looked at me, she's passed her, I'm so ready to go on to be with the Lord.

  116. [SPEAKER_01]: That's where he's at knowing that there is something down the road that there is going to be finally a release from this battle, and folks that's not until we die.

  117. [SPEAKER_01]: I was talking to one of my deacons who is in his 80s, and I was talking to him, and we were kind of having some man talk, and he said, man, do I battle with things?

  118. [SPEAKER_01]: And I looked at him and I said, man, man,

  119. [SPEAKER_01]: You're in your 80s.

  120. [SPEAKER_01]: Surely you can't battle with things now.

  121. [SPEAKER_01]: He says sometimes it's even worse.

  122. [SPEAKER_01]: Now that it was when I was younger I said, thanks brother.

  123. [SPEAKER_01]: And I figured there'd be sure enough something that this certain age where it's finally done with and you know you can just have your head on heaven and you know the physical things are just over here

  124. [SPEAKER_01]: In chapter 5 of the Book of Romans, we talked about it when we were going and discovering God's grace some time ago, in the last two verses of chapter number 5, I'm going to have you turn there and as you're turning there, I'm reminded of verse 1, He says, therefore, He says, being justified by faith.

  125. [SPEAKER_01]: We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

  126. [SPEAKER_01]: That's the relationship peace, the tranquility we have with our God.

  127. [SPEAKER_01]: We have made peace with Him.

  128. [SPEAKER_01]: Not just a peace in our heart, but it's a we're no longer at enmity with Him.

  129. [SPEAKER_01]: And in chapter five, verse 20, I read, more over the wall, entered that the offense might abound, but where sin abounded, what abounded more, grace did much more abound.

  130. [SPEAKER_01]: Grace is greater than the law that was against us, verse 21, that as sin had rained unto death, even so might grace rain through righteousness unto eternal life, how was it done, not by what we do.

  131. [SPEAKER_01]: but it is through or by Jesus Christ, our Lord.

  132. [SPEAKER_01]: So we're celebrating grace in chapter number five.

  133. [SPEAKER_01]: Grace is God giving you and I something that we don't deserve.

  134. [SPEAKER_01]: God is giving you according to Romans five.

  135. [SPEAKER_01]: This grace that gives you eternal life that Christ is paid for.

  136. [SPEAKER_01]: You are declared righteous in the very sight of God by His grace not by what you have done for him.

  137. [SPEAKER_01]: Because if it were, by what you did for him, then why did Jesus die?

  138. [SPEAKER_01]: It would have been a waste if we could save ourselves through our works.

  139. [SPEAKER_01]: So instead, God's grace, His riches that He has given to you and I, we have forgiveness by faith in what Jesus Christ has done for us.

  140. [SPEAKER_01]: So if you are here, and you say, Pastor Carl, what do you mean?

  141. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to make it very simple.

  142. [SPEAKER_01]: You are either trusting in what you can do for God to get you into heaven,

  143. [SPEAKER_01]: or maybe even say, I don't even know if there is a heaven, I don't even know if there is a God and not be in faith with Him and in that direction you will fail, you will perish, you will die and you will go to hell.

  144. [SPEAKER_01]: You cannot save yourself.

  145. [SPEAKER_01]: Hell is real, heaven is real, God wants you to go to heaven and so to eat.

  146. [SPEAKER_01]: But this is your choice.

  147. [SPEAKER_01]: If I can make the choice for you, I would have already.

  148. [SPEAKER_01]: If God could have made that choice for you, because he's not willing that any shaperish, but that all should come through repentance, he would have made that choice for you.

  149. [SPEAKER_01]: But through his sovereignty, he created inside of you a will, because that's how he gets glory, by you choosing him.

  150. [SPEAKER_01]: moment you trust Christ is your Savior, you are declared righteous in God's sight, and you are heaven-bound.

  151. [SPEAKER_01]: But that faith isn't what He has done for you on the cross and through the resurrection.

  152. [SPEAKER_01]: But then we would stop and say, wow, I am saved by grace.

  153. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a gift and I don't have to do anything for it.

  154. [SPEAKER_01]: You've got it.

  155. [SPEAKER_01]: And you say, Yippee, I get to go and do whatever I want, like a chapter six.

  156. [SPEAKER_01]: What should we say then?

  157. [SPEAKER_01]: Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?

  158. [SPEAKER_01]: In other words, to experience this wonderful grace that keeps coming from God, do we then, as believers, go ahead and do whatever you want, go ahead and sin, eat, drink and be married, tomorrow we die, and we go to heaven, mm, mm, mm, mm, you'll find really, really, really quick that we as Christians we don't get away with it.

  159. [SPEAKER_01]: We don't get away with it.

  160. [SPEAKER_01]: You say, I have been, you better check your salvation out, okay?

  161. [SPEAKER_01]: Your preacher gets whipped all the time.

  162. [SPEAKER_01]: I go to the woodshed.

  163. [SPEAKER_01]: He is in my heart, my mind, conviction, city, sometimes if he asks a what me and do something physically to me, he can.

  164. [SPEAKER_01]: He is my God.

  165. [SPEAKER_01]: But he doesn't because he loves me because I'm one of his children.

  166. [SPEAKER_01]: So if we stop and say, I'm going to go ahead and do whatever I want.

  167. [SPEAKER_01]: He says, God forbid, how can you who are dead to sin live any longer therein?

  168. [SPEAKER_01]: We're a new man.

  169. [SPEAKER_01]: We live a resurrected life, and so in this text, even in verse number 14, for sin shall not have demanding over you.

  170. [SPEAKER_01]: You shall not, you are not under the wall, but you're under grace.

  171. [SPEAKER_01]: What then shall we sin?

  172. [SPEAKER_01]: Because we are not under the wall, but under grace, not for bed.

  173. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh.

  174. [SPEAKER_01]: Note, think that way and that's not with this session and this lesson in the weeks to follow We're all about this is not a consent or a license to you to do whatever you want But rather just the opposite and understanding of the battle that we have and to live victorious And you say when you're going to get to that point that's about two three weeks from now We have to build this with understand what is he trying to develop what's God developing here

  175. [SPEAKER_01]: So in this sixth chapter, many of you are familiar with this in verse number 23, a summary of it all.

  176. [SPEAKER_01]: The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

  177. [SPEAKER_01]: That's how we're saved.

  178. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a gift.

  179. [SPEAKER_01]: We don't earn.

  180. [SPEAKER_01]: We don't pay a penny for it.

  181. [SPEAKER_01]: we were in Haiti and I was preaching to the pastors and you know sometimes you try to illustrate things you know you try to bring Dave he's not here to defend himself he's really bad at trying to give these stories to for the guys understand the concept that he's trying to give he's laughing in his own jokes and the preachers are going crickets yet off one was going through the story which was not intended on being a joke

  182. [SPEAKER_01]: it was just an illustration.

  183. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm saying the eternal life that we receive is a free gift.

  184. [SPEAKER_01]: And I said, you know, if I bought a Bible for you, and I paid $10 for it, and I gave it to you and said, hey, I paid $10 for it, and I'm going to give this to you for $5.

  185. [SPEAKER_00]: Is that a gift?

  186. [SPEAKER_00]: No.

  187. [SPEAKER_01]: And I said, if I had this, and I paid $10 for it, and I'm going to give it to you for a

  188. [SPEAKER_01]: and all the preachers are going on and all that's not a gift that's not a gift and i broke it down to a fifty cents in a quarter and a dime and then i finally went down to the penny i said i paid ten dollars but you can have it for a penny would that be a gift and they said no no no i said that i'd be a bargain but that would not be a gift they busted out laughing i mean the whole place erupted into laughter i'm going i don't understand the joke but i'm glad i gave you a laugh today

  189. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, when you go into the marketplace, that's when they do all of this bargaining and try to get it for as little as they possibly can because you go to the market and you'll say, oh, 30 US dollars for it.

  190. [SPEAKER_01]: By the time you're done, you'll get it for two.

  191. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm saying, so that's their mindset.

  192. [SPEAKER_01]: Folks, the gift of God can't be purchased.

  193. [SPEAKER_01]: It can't be earned.

  194. [SPEAKER_01]: It's the gift of God.

  195. [SPEAKER_01]: And so if you're here ready to go to heaven, God says, I have a package of eternal life that's been paid in full by Jesus Christ himself and you could do nothing for it and God is willing to give this to you if you by faith, believe that he is.

  196. [SPEAKER_01]: That his word, what he is telling you about Jesus Christ, is real.

  197. [SPEAKER_01]: And that if you believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your personal sin, His blood was shed for you.

  198. [SPEAKER_01]: He will then give you, by faith, as you have faith in Him, this gift and it's eternal life and eternal is like a really, really long time.

  199. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay?

  200. [SPEAKER_01]: And you get that eternal life, not when you die.

  201. [SPEAKER_01]: He that has the Son has life.

  202. [SPEAKER_01]: He that has not the Son has not life.

  203. [SPEAKER_01]: You have the Son, you have life.

  204. [SPEAKER_01]: Eternal life, and God in Titus chapter 1 verse 2, and God who cannot lie, promised this eternal life before the world even began.

    Titus 1:2

  205. [SPEAKER_01]: This has been God's predestinated plan to save you and I through Jesus Christ.

  206. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what's predestinated.

  207. [SPEAKER_01]: The whole plan of salvation has been determined for you and I.

  208. [SPEAKER_01]: That's great.

  209. [SPEAKER_01]: And we get to all this and we say, Oh, that's awesome.

  210. [SPEAKER_01]: I get eternal life and I can do whatever I want.

  211. [SPEAKER_01]: No, because you're married to somebody now.

  212. [SPEAKER_01]: You're married.

  213. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what he gets through in chapter seven.

  214. [SPEAKER_01]: He's building a case here.

  215. [SPEAKER_01]: He says, under the law of a man has a woman.

  216. [SPEAKER_01]: I got to just teach this quickly.

  217. [SPEAKER_01]: This is in verses one through four.

  218. [SPEAKER_01]: If all of a sudden you're married in your testament, and so this guy decides to divorce you as a lady, and you're out because of this whole divorce, you're not free to just marry.

  219. [SPEAKER_01]: Again, you broke in the law.

  220. [SPEAKER_01]: And because of that, you can't remarry.

  221. [SPEAKER_01]: And so that was, that was a principle from the Old Testament.

  222. [SPEAKER_01]: But he says, but if while you're married, one dies.

  223. [SPEAKER_01]: And they are off this earth.

  224. [SPEAKER_01]: That one who survives is free to then marry again, because there's been a death.

  225. [SPEAKER_01]: And then he says, guess what God did for you and I?

  226. [SPEAKER_01]: God created because you and I were married if you will to the law.

  227. [SPEAKER_01]: And you know what the law was, was perfect, absolutely perfect.

  228. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like being married ladies to that guy that is an absolute perfectionist that everything has to be just right when they walk through the door.

  229. [SPEAKER_01]: There can't be dirt, there can't be dust.

  230. [SPEAKER_01]: Everything has to be even as it is hung up, shirts,

  231. [SPEAKER_01]: White, blue, colors.

  232. [SPEAKER_01]: The suit is in just a certain way.

  233. [SPEAKER_01]: The ties are all in a certain order.

  234. [SPEAKER_01]: The food has to be paired absolutely perfect.

  235. [SPEAKER_01]: By the way, I've talked to people like this.

  236. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm not kidding you.

  237. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, absolutely perfect.

  238. [SPEAKER_01]: And anything's out of sort, you've not fulfilled your duty.

  239. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what the law does to you and I.

  240. [SPEAKER_01]: All of these do this, this way, don't do this, this way.

  241. [SPEAKER_01]: And if you don't do it the right way, you're dead.

  242. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm so glad I didn't live on the wall.

  243. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, all the things that people died for, you know, remember the one guy, you know, the cart's rocking arcs one area, and what's first put it on the cart?

  244. [SPEAKER_01]: There's specific carrying it, you know?

  245. [SPEAKER_01]: All of a sudden, the tips that he reaches up so the arc on the company, it doesn't fall down.

  246. [SPEAKER_01]: He resup, he's dead.

  247. [SPEAKER_01]: I killed him right there.

  248. [SPEAKER_01]: You don't touch it.

  249. [SPEAKER_01]: You don't do it your own way.

  250. [SPEAKER_01]: It has to be you know, we're really good at this as Christians.

  251. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, we have these things we say, I know what the law says, but it's okay if you go a little over.

  252. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, we're great at that because I go five mile an hour over on trips.

  253. [SPEAKER_01]: It's the Christian thing to do.

  254. [SPEAKER_01]: You know that people.

  255. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, we're not going to go 10 or 15 to get busted.

  256. [SPEAKER_01]: We're just going to go 5 over, you know, because I talked to all my placement friends around here, and if you guys bust me this week, I'm going to get you next week, and so you know, you're going, you're going, you're going 5 over, but you know what, the law is 55, and if you go 56, you

  257. [SPEAKER_01]: If you go 55 and I got one amen over here.

  258. [SPEAKER_01]: If you go 55 and a half, you have gone over the speed limit.

  259. [SPEAKER_01]: I know of guys that have been pulled over for one to two mile an hour over the speed limit.

  260. [SPEAKER_01]: And rightfully, the police had every right to pull them over for that because they exceeded the speed limit.

  261. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what the law was like.

  262. [SPEAKER_01]: You can't go over a portion.

  263. [SPEAKER_01]: You can say, oh, God, you can wink at this.

  264. [SPEAKER_01]: It's okay.

  265. [SPEAKER_01]: You'll let this one pass by.

  266. [SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't work that way.

  267. [SPEAKER_01]: The law is absolutely perfect and holy.

  268. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's what we're here.

  269. [SPEAKER_01]: And you know what it's showing you and I, we can't do it.

  270. [SPEAKER_01]: Because my dad, I remember before he passed away, he said, I can't believe it.

  271. [SPEAKER_01]: I got a ticket.

  272. [SPEAKER_01]: He just all that I was doing.

  273. [SPEAKER_01]: He was driving along, not paying any attention.

  274. [SPEAKER_01]: And all of a sudden, a happy song's on.

  275. [SPEAKER_01]: You've been there, all of a sudden, the foot goes a little heavier because you're happy and the police are not happy that you're happy.

  276. [SPEAKER_01]: So you're going a little faster, that's what he was doing.

  277. [SPEAKER_01]: He was listening to some happy music and going a little faster, he should have and pulled over and sure enough he got a ticket or doing it.

  278. [SPEAKER_01]: But he broke the limit.

  279. [SPEAKER_01]: And every time we break the law and James chapter two, verse 10, if we offend the law in one point, we are guilty of the entire thing.

  280. [SPEAKER_01]: So if you're brother John Monroe and I seen her, we were out for a coffee there day.

  281. [SPEAKER_01]: And as we were out, he's a very faithful witness.

  282. [SPEAKER_01]: And he talked to the lady who was waiting on us and he said, man, if you were to die in a car wreck today, do you know if you were to go to heaven?

  283. [SPEAKER_01]: for sure one hundred percent sure as she said absolutely and he said how would you know that as she said i'm a good person classic answer isn't it as like folks we don't get the heaven because we think we're good enough to get there we can't exclude what Christ did for us to get there Christ died he gave his life

  284. [SPEAKER_01]: By you saying, I'm going to try to keep this law, listen, folks, the law is against you.

  285. [SPEAKER_01]: The law, he says, in relation to the schoolmaster to bring us to Christ, he says, in this text in chapter 7 of Romans, he says, I never would have understand lust, except for I would read in the law, thou shall not covet.

  286. [SPEAKER_01]: So all of a sudden, I realized coveting is wrong.

  287. [SPEAKER_01]: All of a sudden, I'm guilty before my God once I see the law that is against me.

  288. [SPEAKER_01]: So we know God says, here's what's going to happen.

  289. [SPEAKER_01]: All of a sudden, there's going to be a death that's going to happen in Romans 7, 1-4.

  290. [SPEAKER_01]: The death is to the law.

  291. [SPEAKER_01]: You say, why will we be dead to the law?

  292. [SPEAKER_01]: So we will be free to marry another.

  293. [SPEAKER_01]: Look at verse 4.

  294. [SPEAKER_01]: where for my brethren, you also are become dead to the wall by the body of Christ that you should be married to another, even to him who was raised from the dead that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

  295. [SPEAKER_01]: Under the law, we fail.

  296. [SPEAKER_01]: In the grace of God, through the eternal life that He gives, you and I can create and make fruit works for our God.

  297. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's what has happened.

  298. [SPEAKER_01]: And Grintis, he says, I have espoused you to one husband, Christ is ours, we the church are the bride of Christ, and there's a connection to him because there has been a death to the law we are freed to marry him, and it's a relationship that we have with him.

  299. [SPEAKER_01]: All of this is just the foundation folks.

  300. [SPEAKER_01]: This is just where he's getting to in the chapter seven in verse 14.

  301. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's why he says, there's a we know that the law, it is spiritual.

  302. [SPEAKER_01]: It's perfect.

  303. [SPEAKER_01]: In verse number 12, he says the law is holy.

  304. [SPEAKER_01]: And even the commandment is holy and just and good.

  305. [SPEAKER_01]: We would think of it this way.

  306. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, speed limits are really, really good.

  307. [SPEAKER_01]: Not allowing a ten year old to drive a car.

  308. [SPEAKER_01]: is a really good law.

  309. [SPEAKER_01]: I was I was talking about the wedding here of yesterday for Brittany and and the her little brothers are 14 years old and they're ecstatic because at 14 and a half in the decode is they're allowed to get their permit.

  310. [SPEAKER_01]: Kidding me I'm glad we don't have that law here.

  311. [SPEAKER_01]: See law limits.

  312. [SPEAKER_01]: keeps us, it's a generator for us to keep us from going over what we should, excuse me, a governor that would keep us from going over what we should.

  313. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's what the law is.

  314. [SPEAKER_01]: He's saying the law was good.

  315. [SPEAKER_01]: It's perfect.

  316. [SPEAKER_01]: It's holy.

  317. [SPEAKER_01]: There's nothing wrong with the law at all.

  318. [SPEAKER_01]: So don't think all the laws are bad thing.

  319. [SPEAKER_01]: Now, the problem isn't the law.

  320. [SPEAKER_01]: The problem is you.

  321. [SPEAKER_01]: And me, look at Romans 8.

  322. [SPEAKER_01]: verse 3.

  323. [SPEAKER_01]: For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh.

  324. [SPEAKER_01]: God sending his own son into the likeness of sinful flesh and forcing condemned sin in the flesh.

  325. [SPEAKER_01]: So why was he here?

  326. [SPEAKER_01]: He condemned it.

  327. [SPEAKER_01]: He destroyed it so that you and I could have eternal life.

  328. [SPEAKER_01]: Man, this whole thing just flows.

  329. [SPEAKER_01]: You say, preacher, we got to conclude because we have

  330. [SPEAKER_01]: You say, where's the conclusion of all of this?

  331. [SPEAKER_01]: The conclusion is we have a victory.

  332. [SPEAKER_01]: We have a victory over it all, through Christ, and look with me to chapter 8.

  333. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm just going to read verse 37.

  334. [SPEAKER_01]: Nay, in all these things.

  335. [SPEAKER_01]: Every thing that he's been talking about up to this thing, this point, all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

  336. [SPEAKER_01]: You know what the victory is?

  337. [SPEAKER_01]: It's in Christ.

  338. [SPEAKER_01]: Once we have Christ, we have victory.

  339. [SPEAKER_01]: But we have battle.

  340. [SPEAKER_01]: You say it seems like it conflicts.

  341. [SPEAKER_01]: That's my point.

  342. [SPEAKER_01]: That's why I told you, I'm a little nervous going through this because I hope I'm very, very clear in these chapters.

  343. [SPEAKER_01]: Folks, if you can get a hold of the book of Romans, it will, it will free you to serve your God in a powerful way.

  344. [SPEAKER_01]: And what we're going to be learning is we develop these texts and we start bringing them together.

  345. [SPEAKER_01]: so that we can live victory's life.

  346. [SPEAKER_01]: If we don't, we're gonna live defeated and we're gonna get excuses.

  347. [SPEAKER_01]: And we're not gonna live victorious.

  348. [SPEAKER_01]: God wants us to honor him through our lives to bring forth fruit of righteousness to him.

  349. [SPEAKER_01]: If you're here without Christ, you need him.

  350. [SPEAKER_01]: That's the foundation.

  351. [SPEAKER_01]: That's the beginning of it all.

  352. [SPEAKER_01]: So if you're not safe, we're gonna have an invitation time, we wouldn't you to come down and we'll be glad to show you from God's Word how to be saved before you leave this place.

  353. [SPEAKER_01]: The way as Christians is we prepare for the communion time that we're about to receive, I want to encourage you to prepare your hearts now.

  354. [SPEAKER_01]: This first Corinthians 11 described for you and I to do.

  355. [SPEAKER_01]: Make sure our hearts are right with them as we commune with him.

  356. [SPEAKER_01]: Father, we thank you for the time.

  357. [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for your word.

  358. [SPEAKER_01]: Bless the invitation time, Lord.

  359. [SPEAKER_01]: It is yours.

  360. [SPEAKER_01]: And Jesus name, I pray.

  361. [SPEAKER_01]: Amen.
