  1. So I get to teach on the faithfulness of God as we think about I think this has probably been said multiple times but all the attributes of God they each accent the other God is faithful in all of his attributes God is wise in all of his attributes God is loving in all his attributes God is just in all his complete and all that he is so let's think about faithfulness what is it what is faithfulness well I like to get the old the old websters he seems to get it right firmly adhering to duty of true fidelity loyal true to allegiance constant in performance of duties or services let's think about that both from the Hebrew and Greek would get the words support uphold and trust I think that's another good word when we think about faithfulness is trustworthy can God be trusted and because he is faithful he can be trusted God is under think about this God is under no obligation to be faithful to our wishes or our desires and sometimes people get this mixed up and they'll say well because God didn't do such-and-such or God allowed this then he's not faithful well he is faithful he's just not faithful to what you want he's faithful to what he wants he's always faithful to his own decrees and will how is God faithful well God is unchanging in his nature talked about that because God is who he is he is faithful and must be faithful we all know this that God is true to his word God forever keeps his promises and God is faithful in all of his attributes all right I've told some that I was just going to get up here put up a single passage we would read that passage and that wouldn't that would be the lesson I would say that but we're not gonna do that of course but here's the passage look look at this this is amazing it is of the Lord's mercies that we are not concerned because his compassion fail not they are new every morning great yes thy faith the very fact that justice and wrath is not being carried out on us right now says God is faithful the fact that we're here this morning living moving having our being are here today says God is faith amen amen here's some verses that speak to the faithfulness of God know therefore that the Lord thy God he is God the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations forever Oh Lord your word is settled fixed steadfast in heaven thy faithfulness is unto all generations you have established the earth and it abides they continue this day according to your ordinances for all are your servants so we see here that God is faithful to his word his word is firmly fixed he's faithful in keeping in sustaining his creation you have established the earth you have established the earth and it abides or it continues its steadfast from the beginning God has established and is continuing things as from the beginning all are benefactors to the faithfulness of God it rains on the just and the unjust he's faithful in all of his creation and showing favor to all what a faithful God he is faithful when I think about that that God is faithfulness is to all generations you've established it the earth and it abides they continue this day according to your ordinances for all are your servants it made me think about and we may we probably not gonna have time now but I thought about going to second Peter chapter 3 where it talks about those who will maul at the coming of the Lord and they will say that things have continued from the beginning like they always have and so the faithfulness of God becomes a detriment to those who will not believe the King James says they are willingly ignorant they're dumb on purpose about two things the creation and the flood pretty remarkable so we see these passages that God is faithful in his creation and to all of his people but what are some ways that God is faithful to us personally he's faithful to all men all creation but he's faithful to us his children in specific ways grand ways it was the faithful God who called us into fellowship with his son God is faithful by whom you were called under the fellowship of his son Jesus Christ our Lord he's faithful to his covenants he made a covenant with his son to give him a people and all those people whom he has given to his son he will call to his son he's faithful in our call in calling us to Christ for the very God of peace sanctify you completely and I pray God your whole spirit soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ faithful is he that called you and he will do it so not only is he faithful in our salvation he's faithful in our sanctification right he's faithful to call those whom he has given to his son to bring them to his son to call them to his son and then to work his works in them of sanctification he's faithful in our sanctification he who what begins the work in us will complete it unto the day of Christ he's faithful not to allow us to be tempted beyond that we are able but will provide the way of escape there's no temptation taken you but such as common demand the temptations that we face are common to all of us sometimes we think that the only the things that we're dealing with were the only ones dealing with them news flash no it's common but what are the next words but God is faithful God is faithful who will not allow you to be tempted above that you are able but will with the temptation also make a way of escape that we may be able to bear it but the Lord is faithful who shall establish you and keep you from evil he's faithful he's faithful that i say he's faithful but what about when we do see what about when we fall to the temptation God is so so faithful but what about when we're not in the temptation to be tempted by the temptation is there faithfulness in God for that what's the next verse if we confess our sins he's faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all in righteousness and to forgive us from all in righteousness the glory of God's faithfulness is that no sin of ours has ever made him unfaithful trawlspert has God ever seemed not faithful in your life i know that you know he's faithful but have there been times in your life when you're you're like what what is going on and from our viewpoint we may think that something's amiss that God's not being faithful maybe we're getting hammered in life these afflictions these trials is God faithful in our afflictions and trials i know oh lord that thy judgments are right and that you in faithfulness have afflicted me is that not soothingly delicious to your soul we need to think on that minute because you are faithful God in your faithfulness oh lord you've allowed this affliction you've afflicted me God afflicts us in faithfulness because his faithfulness to our sanctification he's he's faithful in our sanctification therefore the afflictions are faithful servants to bring about that sanctification he's faithful have i said that he's faithful he allows the afflictions to bring about the sanctification because he is faithful this is an unknown arthur when we face difficulties we sometimes forget God's past faithfulness we see only the debtors and the dangerous path but look back and you will also see the joy of victory the challenge of the client and the presence of your traveling companion who was promised never to leave nor forsake you who could take that quote right now and stand and tell of something that's happened in your life and because of that you know God's faith we all could be faithful wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well-doing as unto a faithful creator what do these passages do for your soul do they have any help what joy and comfort to the weary saint they are what a rock what a foundation upon which we stand on the faithfulness of God God is faithful settle this in your heart whether i am up or down the Lord Jesus is the same whether i sing or sigh the promise is true and the promiser is faithful whether i stand on the summit or i'm hidden in the veil the covenant stands fast and everlastingly love abides God is faithful what should be our response to these things as we think of the faithfulness of God that God we look in the Old Testament and we see all the promises all the prophecies all the things concerning of the Lord Jesus Christ and then we look into the New Testament and we read therein that everything that was written in the prophets and the psalms in the law all of these things were written because of Christ and that he has fulfilled everything that God has said and we behold the big picture never once not one jot not one tittle has been missed all has been fulfilled concerning Christ and we must say that God is faithful so we look at the word and we we say this is a faithful saying the word of God is faithful it's true it's real it's solid i can stand on it i can embrace it i can hold it it's going to hold me up it is my life then we look at our lives we can look at the word and see that God is faithful we can look at our lives and see that every moment every second everything we're still here we're still in the house of the Lord we're still with the best of our might desiring to serve the Lord why are you still following Christ why are you still believing in God why are you here because he's faithful he's not let you down he's true so what is our response i will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever with my mouth while i make known thy faithfulness to all generation because he's faithful it should be our theme it should be our song that he is faithful now faithfulness is one of the communicable attributes of God so what does that mean we get to share in it right we are to be faithful are you faithful first Corinthians 4 2 says moreover it is required in stewards that a man be found faithful we should be faithful in making known his faithfulness to all generations that's what we're doing this morning let's pray our Lord and our Savior our King our faithful God thank you for your word that is so true think you that over and over again and we've just looked at a few verses this morning you declare your faithfulness and as we've been reminded this morning we see your faithfulness throughout your word we see your faithfulness throughout time we see your faithfulness in our very lives may we sing of your mercies forever with our mouths may we make known your faithfulness in Christ's name we pray
