To just a preface a little bit, I just want to say that the type of evangelism I'll be talking about is called Conversational evangelism. That's what I call it. So it's not street preaching This is a little bit different type of evangelism this type of evangelism. I believe that every single person can do it You don't need a special day. You don't need a special event. You don't need toad suck days You can do it 365 days a year anytime of the day if you're sitting down you have nothing to do You just go out and do evangelism So this is something everyone can do whether it's Knocking on doors whether it's talking to your friends your family It could be talking to the people in your apartment complex going to UCA It could be just talking to the person walking down you're the aisle next to you in the store Anyone can do this and I firmly believe that For those of you that are familiar with ray comfort as well a lot of what I talk about And a lot of the analogies that I use will sound familiar to you because that's how I learned Back in 2020 Spring of 2020 is when I started doing this I just started watching his videos and then I went out and implemented it and so that's really key you know, I'm gonna teach you tonight how to do evangelism and I can teach you how to swim right? I can give you all the best books I can give you the best teachers in the world and teach you how to swim But unless you get in the water, you're not really gonna learn how to swim So you'll learn about evangelism tonight and I'll teach you but at the end of the day where you really learn is knocking on your first door and I understand it's nerve-wracking to go knock on someone's door, but I can tell you We build it up in our minds. It's not as scary as you think I Remember the first time ever knocked on a door. I didn't know how I was gonna get the words out of my mouth It's like this is scary, right?
-
But I knocked on that first door and I'm telling you it's like a wall came down and I was like, yeah This can be done. I can do this. So I just hope tonight that I can encourage y'all to go out there and do it yourself Before I start though, let me pray Father thank you so much for the Lord Jesus Christ and father. Thank you For for allowing me to speak tonight on this subject. I Pray that it would be clear. I Pray father that you'd give me a clear mind. Allow me to explain and articulate articulate these things well and That everyone here would be edified Lord. I pray that it would not just be me talking father That would be a waste of time, but I pray father that you would speak through me Lord to everyone here father I pray Lord ultimately that Christ would be exalted and I know Lord that if Christ is exalted I think we'll all go home pretty happy Lord. I pray this in Jesus name. Amen So my first point is evangelism starts with you In first Peter chapter 3 verse 15 it says but sanctify the Lord God in your hearts and be ready always to give an answer to every man that ask is you of Askest you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear now a lot of people use this verse for Apologetics and they would point to the part about making a defense for everything But what I want you want to point you to is the word sanctify it says both but sanctify the Lord God in your hearts Meaning go all in for God Set go all in for Christ set him apart in your heart Don't have one foot in the world and one foot in the church That just won't work you'll be in a constant tug of war back and forth go all in for Christ be fully Committed to the advancement of the kingdom and to the advancement of the work of evangelism and the salvation of souls and the building up of the church go all in also Don't have sin in your life. You're trying to justify It's easy to make excuses for sin and just to justify it But I want to encourage you to pray be able to pray the prayer with the psalmist psalmist in Psalms 139 It says search me Oh God and know my heart Try me know my thoughts and see if there be any wicked way in me and lead me Lead me in the way of everlasting. So don't try to justify sin in your life. Don't make excuses for it Repent of it bring to the Lord for forgiveness Get a clean conscience and then go out there and present Christ to people with all your heart. I'll give you a practical example It's easy to say I'm a cheat of my taxes, you know, I don't want to give the government my taxes I'm gonna lie on my tax return because they're just gonna spend my money on abortion So I'm justifying lying on my taxes lying, right? It's Don't have justified don't try to justify sin in your life Just repent of it bring to the Lord for sin for forgiveness Pray that prayer with the psalmist and go out there with a clean conscience You don't want that on your mind. So That's my first point be totally committed to Christ and to the advancement of his kingdom Not one foot in the world not one foot in the church all in all in second point How to do evangelism This is the main part and I'm gonna try to make this as easy as I can for y'all So it starts with a simple question you have someone is in front of you You're gonna ask them Are you a good person?
-
The majority of people believe they're a good person Now they may not say that they may say well I'm trying to be a good person or they might even agree with you that they're a sinner They might agree with you that no one's perfect. But the majority of people do not believe they're going to hell they don't because they've justified their sin in their life and they don't think they're in danger and so it's very important to Understand that and then what you do is use the law to bring the knowledge of sin and if you would turn to Romans chapter 3 and We'll look at verses 19 through 20 I'm gonna show y'all this principle So most people believe they're a good person most people do not believe that they're in danger of going to hell This is where the law comes in Look at Romans chapter 3 verse 19 through 20 now We know that whatever the law says it speaks to those who are under the law So that every mouth may be stopped and the whole world may be held accountable to God For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight since through the law Comes the knowledge of sin. So you use the law to bring the knowledge of sin That's its purpose a lot of people think the law is a standard to keep that's not true We've all broken the law you look at the commandments. We've all broken the law The law has one purpose and it's to lead us to Christ to show us the seriousness of our sin Like it says through the law comes the knowledge of sin The law is like this. Here's how it works Pretend you're in a bathroom and you look in a bathroom mirror The mirror will show you that you have dirt on your face But it can't clean you it can just show you what you are in truth So when you look at the law of God it shows us where we stand before a holy God That's why we use the law. It shows us we're sinners So you got to look at that law and so when you're doing evangelism You've got to use this law. I'm gonna show you how to do it This is where the right comfort method comes in You're gonna ask them very simply Ninth commandment how many lies have you told before and Then they're gonna answer and then you're gonna say What do you call people who tell lies and They're gonna say a liar and you're gonna say So what what's that make you a?
Romans 3 chapter mention Romans 3:19–20
-
liar Take them through the next commandment take them through the eighth commandment stealing Have you ever taken anything before?
-
irrespective of the value What does that make you a Thief so what are you you'd say that makes you a lying thief?
-
Stealing really the principle behind it is it's irrespectable of the value If you open up my wallet and take out a hundred take out $1 You'd be as much of a thief as if you took out $100 so the value is irrelevant. It's just the principle behind it and So that's that's what you're gonna do you and take them commandment by commandment. We're just gonna go through four Take them to blasphemy the third commandment using God's name in vain and ask them Have you ever used God's name in vain before?
-
And they will say yes, omg GD right choosing God's name is a cuss word His name is holy and so it's bringing it down to the level of a fifth word to express disgust Sometimes I'll ask people would you ever use your mom or dad's name as a cuss word people will say No, I respect my parents Well, you haven't respected the God that gave you your parents. That's what you did what you tell him you use his name as a cuss word I'll show you another way. We blaspheme his name and I hope this hits home. I hope this really hits close to home We are created in God's image We are image bearers of God and we are designed to mirror to one another and all of creation who God is So when we show mercy When we show grace We're saying God is a God of mercy God is a God of grace When I love justice, I'm saying God he's a God of justice when I love someone I'm saying God He's a God of love because we're his image bearers were made in his image to mirror to one another and to the world who he is So when we show those attributes of God we share in those communicable attributes where we're proclaiming to each other and to the world God he's a God of love. He's a God of mercy. He's a God of grace That's what makes sin so heinous when I lie. I'm saying God. He's a liar When I steal I'm saying God. He's a thief When someone hates someone he's saying God He hates people when someone murders someone they're saying God is a murderer. You see how blasphemous that is So just the sin alone is blasphemy Because we're designed a mirror to the world who God is and so when we sin It's blasphemy. So that's another way people blaspheme the Lord just something to think about so it's very simple We're using the law to bring the knowledge of sin and hoping that the Holy Spirit works and convicts them in their conscience Next one adultery Jesus said if you've looked with lust you've committed adultery in your heart Okay, so here's what it boils down to you go through those commandments with them and you say Well, what does that make you?
-
You just told me you're a lion thieving blaspheming adulterer So if you die in your sin You gonna go to heaven or hell You don't got to prove it to them. They already know this the conscience They have a conscience God's laws written in their mind their conscience bears witness. They already know they have guilt. They already know God exists The Bible says that man knows God exists, but he suppresses that truth But he knows and he's without excuse. So you ain't got to convince them. There's a judgment day They know and that conscience is on your side So you just take them through those commandments knowing that they know and you're hoping it brings conviction and Explain to them the the consequence of dying in your sin explain to them the wages of sin is death If we die in our sin, we go to hell If you die in your sin, you go to hell What is the wages of sin is death mean it means that if you have a criminal and he murders someone The judge might give him the electric chair and says you earn this God is paying us and death for our sin. The wages of sin is death Death is like an arresting police officer Seizes upon us. We don't know when drags us before the judge of the universe and hell is God's prison Well, there's no parole. And so if someone dies in their sin, they would very justly Face a holy God and go to hell. And so you've got to show that to them But I also want you to notice something that when I was going through that I was you I was making it personal and Using the word you you know the second person the word you It's very important you do that tell me how this hits We're liars watch You're a liar You got to confront them in their sin And you use that personal that pronoun you How many lies have you told? What does that make you?
-
You just told me you're a liar You just told me you are a lying thieving blaspheming adulterer. I'm gonna show you this principle in 2nd Samuel chapter 12 If y'all want to turn to it This is what Nathan the prophet did to David So David we all know he was caught in adultery with Bathsheba and then he murdered Had her husband murdered and then Nathan the prophet confronts him and his sin So 2nd Samuel chapter 12 verse 1 And the Lord said to Nathan and The Lord sent Nathan to David He came to him and said to him there were two men in a certain city The one rich and the other poor the rich man had very many flocks and herds But the poor man had nothing but one little eulam Which he had bought and he brought it up and it grew up with him and with his children He used to eat of the morsel and drink from his cup and lie in his arms and it was like a daughter to him Now there came now there came a traveler to the rich man And he was unwilling to take one of his own flock or herd to prepare for the guest who had come to him But he took the poor man's lamb and prepared it for the man who had come to him then David's anger was greatly kindled against the man and he said to Nathan as Long as the Lord lives the man who has done this deserves to die and shall restore the lamb Forefold because he did this thing and because he had no pity Nathan said to David You are the man Thus says the Lord the God of Israel He confronted David in the sin using that pronoun you you did it You can't let people off the hook when you're trying to confront them in their sin. They've got to understand. They've got to understand And you have to do this and I know it's it's it's It's easy to think I just want to give them the gospel. I just want to share Christ with them, but they're not gonna They're not gonna see their need for a Savior if they don't believe they're a sinner You got to take them through this law think of the hymn amazing grace Amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me So if they if they're self-righteous if they think they're a good person They don't they're not gonna need amazing grace and so the point of going through this law is to bring that knowledge of sin show them their danger and You're praying and hopefully they'll end up crying out for God for mercy and God can give them amazing grace Because of what Christ has done for us. So you've got to do that think of think of this analogy No one's gonna take a cure to cancer if he doesn't think he has the disease No one's gonna see their need for a Savior He doesn't seize the sinner pretend that I'm a doctor and pretend there's a patient and the patient has cancer and the patient comes into the doctor Doctor's office and the doctor takes the x-rays CC has cancer What should the good doctor do should the good doctor give him the x-rays showing the x-rays are giving the cure He won't take the cure because he thinks he's healthy. He'll be like doctor. What are you talking about? I run marathons I don't eat sugar. I take care of myself. I don't want your stupid cure But if you show him the x-rays first You won't have to convince him about the cure So that's why we got to go through the law first. They've got to see that their sinner before They'll see their need for a Savior and see their need for Christ so important I'll give you a parable as well Luke chapter 18. It's the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector It's Luke chapter 18 the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector It goes like this Jesus says Jesus told this parable to those who trusted in themselves that they were righteous The Pharisee Prayed thus Lord I thank you. I'm not like those other people over there an adulterer and extortioner and Some other things I fast twice a week. I give ties to all that I get He was self-righteous But the tax collector it says Couldn't even look to heaven But all he could do is look down beating his breast saying God have mercy on me a sinner and Then Jesus said guess which one walked away justified It wasn't the one that was self-righteous. It was the one who knew he was sick And he wanted the cure So you got to take people through the law very simple. Just ask them the commandments Have you ever lied have you ever stolen have you ever taken God's name in vain?
-
Jesus said if you look with lust you've committed altering the heart. What's that make you very simple?
-
she explained to them the wages of sin is death and then Give them the gospel Let me show you this principle and the and I'm gonna read a couple of verses for you here's Acts chapter 3 verses 12 through 15 about making it personal and using the word you and When Peter saw it and when Peter saw it he addressed the people men of Israel Why do you wonder at this or why do you stare at us as though by our own power or piety?
-
We have made him walk the God of Abraham the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob the God of our fathers glorified his servant Jesus whom you delivered over and denied in the presence of Pilate when he had decided to release him but you denied the Holy and righteous one and asked for a murderer to be granted to you and You killed the author of life whom God raised from the dead to this we are witnesses How about Acts chapter 2 verses 22 and 23 men of Israel?
-
Here are these words Jesus of Nazareth a man attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs that God did through Him and your midst as you yourselves know this Jesus delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God You crucified and killed by the hands of Lawless men so you got to make it personal don't let him get away confront them in their sin Because they're not going to come to Christ unless they see their need for a Savior and People are self deceived and they've justified their sin and they trivialized it and they don't think they're going to help What happens when a big celebrity or someone dies?
-
He's in a better place Like everyone says he's in a better place So that's just kind of That consciousness is on your side. We all know it's wrong to lie still blaspheme Committed altar etc. We all know that it's on your side use it to your advantage So after you use the law now you're going to give them the gospel You want to explain the penalty that Jesus paid the penalty He was our propitiation on that cross and you need to explain the resurrection Here's what I mean You ask them Does it concern you that if you died tomorrow and you died as a lion thieving blaspheming?
-
Adulter that you would go to hell does that concern you?
-
And most of the times they'll say yes, and then you ask them Do you know what God has done for you a guilty sinner?
-
So you don't have to go to hell and they're gonna say yes, no But you're gonna tell them you're gonna say here's what God has done for you a guilty sinner What I've just demonstrated for you is that God is a God of justice and a God of wrath but he's also a God of mercy and he's a God of grace and He has made a way to where he can give you mercy on Judgment Day. Here's what he's done for you 2,000 years ago God became a man in the person of Jesus Christ. He suffered and died on the cross for your sin paying your fine Here's what it means legally You and I broke the moral law the Ten Commandments where lying thieving blaspheming adulters Jesus paid the fine So if you're in court someone pays your speeding fine the judge can let you go Say this guy's guilty stack of speeding fines someone paid him. He's out here Even though you and I are guilty before a holy God God can legally forgive your sin Take the death sentence off of you and give you eternal life because Jesus suffered on that cross under God's wrath in your place Paying your fine for you and then he rose from the dead defeating death your greatest enemy and all you have to do to find Eternal life is the one you call them is Repent of yourself righteousness Repent of your sin and place your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and trust him Like you would trust a parachute You jump out of a plane you face the law of gravity You need a parachute God has provided the parachute God has provided a righteousness for you that you don't have they can only be found in Christ in Christ alone So that's it you give that you call them call them to Christ And I also want to say In the Great Commission in Matthew 28 it says go into all the world So Jesus says all authority has been given to me therefore go into all the nations and Make disciples Baptizing them in the name of the Father son and of the Holy Spirit teaching them to observe everything I've commanded you notice Make disciples. That's what we're doing is make disciples So I always say never bring someone to Christ that you are not willing to disciple and if you can't disciple them Make sure you can send them to someone who can Because when we were babies we were 100% dependent upon our mother or else we would die and so When someone is a brand new baby Christian in Christ, they don't know a thing So be able to disciple them yourself and if you can't disciple them Send them to someone who can at the very least Make sure you know of a good church that you can invite them to like this one, right?
-
so You want to do that if you're on vacation?
-
Let's say you go to the beach or something maybe research. Maybe you're gonna do some evangelism while you're there research it See if there's a church in that area So if you share the gospel with them and they believe you can send them to a church So you don't just leave them there, right?
-
so always be ready to disciple them because our call at the end of the day is not just to make converts but to make Disciples and these people need to be shepherd shepherded They need to be cared for and they need to be taught the Word of God and the gospel deeper so Okay I'm gonna give you a couple responses that you can expect so that's it use the law to bring the knowledge of sin and Then give them the gospel and you don't have to do you don't have to give them the gospel in the exact same way that I do but death barrel resurrection Give them the gospel call them to Christ. They have to repent of self-righteousness repent of sin and come to Christ So here's some of the responses you can expect whenever you're taking people through the law once you've talked to your first 500 people You've heard everything Because we have the same nature We all have the same heart and people use the same Justifications and so once you've talked to the first 500 people you've heard everything It's the same thing over and over and over But here's some of the most common responses that you'll get when you're taking them through the law one They're gonna try to justify their sin and they're gonna say well everyone does it no one's perfect Right when they say that they're justifying their sin. They're saying that no big deal I'm not in trouble because everyone else does it so it's justifying their sin Another thing they'll do is they'll trivialize their sin or they'll minimalize it. They'll say well Just told a little white lie. I stole a candy bar once I stole a pencil Right, they'll trivialize their sin. So they'll do that Or what what they'll also do is they'll run They'll Want the conversation to end they might even get mad at you. I Have a knocked on people's doors before and I've been talking to them and taking through the law and they're like hold on real quick I'll be right back and they don't ever come back So they'll run why do they run why do they justify their sin why do they trivialize their sin Let's let Jesus answer it for us John chapter 3 verse 19 through 20 and This is the judgment light has come into the world People love darkness rather than light because their works were evil for everyone who does evil hates the light and Does not come to the light?
-
For fear his deeds will be exposed you go around shining that light People want to run they want to get away So that's why they don't come back to the door Here's another one for you Romans chapter 1 verse 18 through 20 for the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth so they're suppressing the truth for what can be known about God is plain to them because God has shown it to Them for his invisible attributes namely his eternal power and his divine nature Have been clearly perceived ever since the creation of the world and the things that have been made So they're without excuse suppress the truth They don't want you around them for the same reason a criminal doesn't want to see the police after he's robbed a bank Because that police officer means justice accountability So that's one of the reasons you have atheists so that atheist will lie to himself and say God doesn't exist Because He don't want to see God Because well Same reason a criminal doesn't want to see the police after he's robbed a bank sometimes I talk with atheists and I'll get accused of needing a moral crutch or needing a crutch or I have some deep psychological need and so I want to believe the Bible is right and so I get accused of You know, I just I have to believe it because it gives me hope and you know, I tell the atheist, you know, I concede Yeah, I have a reason why I want the Bible to be true I do but are you willing to admit that you have a reason you don't want it to be true?
-
Let's be honest no one's neutral You don't want there to be a God you don't want this Bible to be true because that means accountability That means you'll have to submit your life to it And you don't want that because you love your sin so You can expect some of those things. I give you a couple other responses Sometimes you'll get accused of using fear tactics Say well, you're just using fear tactics. Well Did Jesus use fear tactics?
-
Jesus said fear not him who has power to kill your body and do no more But fear him who has power to kill your body and cast your soul into hell Did Jesus use fear tactics?
-
How about this Fear can be your friend on the right circumstance Fear will make you move back from a cliff Fear will make you put on a parachute Fear will make you buckle your seat belt So fear can be your friend the fear can say scoop back from the edge of the cliff So fear can be your friend the fear of the Lord The Bible says the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom The Bible says by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil So fear can be your friend And that's what we're trying to do We're trying to get the fear of the Lord to hit these people and that see though. Hopefully they'll repent and come to Christ I'm gonna skip over a few things here. I want to be mindful of our time I Want I really want to encourage y'all to go out there and do this But I want to say that you don't have to know everything some people think that they need to know everything about Muslims and Buddhists and Hindus and they need to know these things They need to know everything about Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons and if I don't know these religions and what they believe well then You know, I'm not gonna be able to evangelism and it's just it's not true. You don't have to know everything You just need to understand the basic principle of law gospel The Old Testament was written before the New Testament the law came first then grace and truth came through Jesus Christ This is all that you need to know. All you need to know is that there's two religions in the world to one Either you make yourself, right?
-
Through your religion through your humanitarianism whatever or Two you can't That's your options So at the end of the day that person is either trusting in themselves their religion their humanitarianism, whatever They're trusting in themselves to make themselves right before God on Judgment Day Or You can't and if you can't will Christ scan for you You're either trusting in Christ and his righteousness or you're trusting in yourself So I like to explain it this way to them about the resurrection and I think the first time ever heard this was from Pastor Jeff, but it really hit home for me The wages of sin is death Every religious leader ever lived Buddha Muhammad every person who's ever lived is in the ground they're dead and death holds them there Because the wages of sin is death Well when Jesus was dead death gave him a thorough examination One bad word one bad thought and it would have held Christ in the ground And we'd all be going to hell. No one would have any hope but death gave Christ a thorough examination and Came back With a zero not one bad word perfectly sinless perfectly righteous, holy So death could not hold Christ so he burst up out of that grave victorious And so the way the gospel works someone truly comes to Christ rejects their self-righteousness rejects their religion Places their faith in Christ in Christ alone. God takes our sin Places it on Christ on that cross our life imputed to Christ where he dies for us as the sinner and his righteous holy Resurrection life and plant imputed to us and that's what gets us into heaven the righteousness of Christ So when God looks at you, he looks at your record. He sees Christ Perfection and that's what gets us into heaven. So at the end of the day, all you need to know don't get all caught up And thinking oh, I gotta understand Muslims I gotta understand you always witnessing Mormons No, you don't all you gotta know is that a person's either trusting themself or their trust in the righteousness of Christ That's all you need to know Christ is the only way Jesus says I am the way of the truth in the life and no one comes to the father But by me he's the only one who died for us and he's the only one who has that perfect holy righteous Resurrection life that we need to get into heaven That's what you're driving people towards Don't allow them to believe they're good and their righteousness is gonna make it their religion Because it's not The Bible says our righteousness is like filthy rags But Christ righteousness is snowy white I will say one more thing and then I'll give my testimony. I Want y'all to keep something in mind Right now if we were to see the Lord Jesus Christ, we would not be able to gaze on him because he's too holy He's too glorious. We would be incinerated like that The Bible says man cannot see me and live He's too glorious We're not in the condition to see Christ to see God He's too perfect Well, the Bible says That we're gonna be made just like him. We're gonna be just as glorious We won't be God, but we'll be just as pure and we'll be just as glorious Bible says when we see him face to face we'll be just like him. So As it is right now you would not be able to look and gaze upon a glorified saint That's been resurrected. He would be too beautiful too beautiful. It's like looking at the Sun You can't look at the Sun you would not be able to gaze upon that glorified saint who's been glorified because he's too beautiful But the opposite is true for someone who dies in their sin Because someone who dies in their sin and is fully condemned sinner will be so grotesque You can't look at them You wouldn't be able to look at them because every ounce of restraining grace will be removed from them they will be completely given over to their sin for eternity and they were gnashed their teeth and blasphemed God for all eternity because every ounce of restraining grace will be Removed from them and they will be completely given over to their sin They'll be so grotesque you won't even be able to look at them now picture your loved ones in that condition Picture your neighbor like that The glorified sinner in heaven will be completely redeemed out of his sin Completely redeemed no more sin no sin nature no more slave no more bondage Redeemed saved from sin completely But the fully condemned sinner in hell completely given over to their sin That's the options so think about that get that spiritual vision and use that as Motivation to go out there and give people the only hope that they have which is Christ. I Have a lot more and I hope that it's made sense to y'all But I'm gonna get my testimony so I Was raised in a really good home Great parents a mom and a dad and I had dinner on the table every night. I had clothes to wear out of bed to sleep in air condition water to drink Yeah, it was a typical American week celebrated all the holidays and Just a great home a good home. I went out and played with the neighborhood kids We played basketball. I went hiking in the woods But there was one thing missing Christ It wasn't a Christian home it was a good home my parents didn't fight They didn't fight they were good parents my dad worked hard my mom worked hard But Christ wasn't there it wasn't a Christian home See a Christian home is a home where Christ is exalted where you do family worship Where you sing together you read the Bible together You pray together Christ is there Christ is exalted in that home That's what was missing there was no Christ in my home growing up, so I was brought to church We went to church on Sundays, but I didn't go for Christ I just went because I wanted friends The the kids there we played pool we played basketball But I didn't go for Christ That was my childhood typical American boy American home But Christ was not real Fast forward a little bit to high school I Was in a relationship With a girl And Well, I really cared for and we end up breaking up and it was like somebody took my heart and Threw it on the ground and stomped all over it Day in and day out for months and months and I became the most rebellious person you'll ever meet I Used to wake up Just thinking what law can I break and not go to jail?
-
What rule can I break and get away with it? I wanted to be known as the most rebellious person in my high school I Wanted people to know if they wanted Drugs alcohol they came to me and that's how I lived and I'm not gonna get into details because the Bible says it's so shameful just to mention a lot of those things, but I will tell you that I Was in a position where I was facing a minimum of two years in prison so I did get caught and Well It wasn't it wasn't good. I was I remember one night I fell asleep at the wheel I Used to get blackout drunk and I fell asleep at the wheel and I was the car was running and I I woke up that was getting arrested, but I had literally fallen asleep with ignition running and I Remember there was this this other One of my friends in high school. He would do the same thing. I would do Drink drive get blackout drunk and He died when he was 22 in a car accident. He also fell asleep at the wheel just like me Why am I standing here Why am I not dead why is he dead why is he not standing up here?

the grace of God That's it. There's no difference in me and anybody else. I have the same heart born with that same sin nature Did the same things?
-
But God and his sovereignty Decided to give me grace and that's why I'm here and So I want to share that grace with as many people as I can But after high school I ended up meeting my wife and Still lost as a goose We had all kinds of problems we So we used to fight a lot I loved my wife, but we used to fight a lot and it was primarily my fault and It was gotten so bad. She would do the woman shelter a few times. She'd go the woman shelter from the domestic violence and I remember we were gonna get the divorce I had moved back to Shreveport and we had the divorce papers and she was she was here And I think when I was in Shreveport and we were getting divorce, I think I prayed for the first time my life I Didn't know God but I prayed because I wanted my wife back I came back to Conway and and I'm finding my wife because I love my wife and The Lord answered my prayer you believe that Not even saved didn't even know the Lord still dead in my trespasses and sins and God answered my prayer And he gave me my wife back and I've been with her ever since and she means everything to me But The day I got saved was So I clean houses for a living my wife and I we've been cleaning houses for 17 years and I asked The guy who was living there. He was an older gentleman on dialysis. I Knew he was a Christian and I asked him one day. I said what are your thoughts on homosexuality?
-
Not because I wanted to argue I Was an interest in that I was just genuinely curious. Maybe I was just trying to make conversation and He told me The answer I don't remember much of the conversation, but there are some highlights. I remember about our conversation He answered my question And he he told me he explained to me That I'm not okay. And if I die in my sin, I'm going to hell and He said it was such conviction. It brought him to tears and I'd never seen that before and I knew in that moment man. This is real. This is real I think there's some riffs like the fear of God hit me in that moment And he was explaining to me that if I was to die in my sin he said, you know picture yourself you're in this closet and you're sitting in a chair and There's just flames coming up all around you And the fear of God really hit me and his wife said That's really nice of you you gave him a chair They've got not making me clean So but anyways, I the fear of God hit me he was explaining that to me and then he pulled out his Bible and It was this Bible right here his wife gave it to me when he passed away and he opened to John chapter 14 verse 6 and You read it to me. I Am the way the truth in life. No one comes to the father But through me and when he was reading that It he came alive it was like It's like God gave me faith I believed I Knew it was real and I walked out of that house a completely different person. I went in that house one way I walked out completely different and I went home that night and I knew of me and Angelica. We were not having a good day. We were not having a good season I knew we was gonna have an argument. I Know I had it coming and so I sat on my bed and Listened to her talk to me for two hours. I Didn't say a word the whole time And I don't know if it was talking but it was uh, she was pretty angry, but I knew it was all my fault I mean, it was my fault and I Didn't say a word though because I knew I Knew things were gonna be different and so from that point I Just I've been clinging to John 14 6 ever since I wear it around my wrist As I've grown as a Christian and I've been in a lot of different churches and denominations Over the years just looking for the truth because I wanted to understand One thing I did know I Needed Christ. I knew there was only one way and that's John 14 6 and I cling to that my entire Christian walk since 2009 I started thinking about Christ that day and that man's house when he shared the gospel with me and it's 2024 and I haven't stopped thinking about Christ since I can't get him out of my mind and The word became real to me and I've been devouring it ever since And so I'm just very thankful. I wish I could say, you know when I got saved I was this perfect Christian and I was just I had it all together that's Not even close to being true Because I've had to go through the sanctification process like everybody else in some sense die harder than others. I Didn't have no concept of worldliness when I first got saved worldliness. What's that?
-
you know, so I there was a lot of growth involved and I'm just very thankful to be in this church and to have found a true Bible believing Bible preaching church. I Was really excited when I found this church because I had come to a point where I didn't think real churches existed anymore I thought all churches were just man-centered entertainment as Paul washer would say a six flags over Jesus but Then I found this church and My first day here I knew I was home and Jeff was in Daniel chapter 1 and so uh It's been been a real blessing Are there any you know, I Tommy do we have time for questions or is it time to eat?
Daniel 1 chapter mention

a Couple questions. Does anybody have any questions?
-
And if y'all don't have questions, I mean I'm gonna be around eating and Fellas shipping so you can just talk to me then but if does anybody here have any questions Ed I Got and said You only needed to know the scripture and Yeah, yeah that day and then I did that wishing that they are I Don't know all I best to stand You Some actually I said that in one way just case to say thank you And I flatter the racial identity. Oh, let me saw how I can go about That whole out boy, you know, get on He's asking about Roman Catholicism for the recording so you're wanting to know how to evangelize a Roman Catholic Well, they're like everyone else they're trusting in their religion they're trusting in their own righteousness, they're trusting in the sacraments and You just need to you need to show them That their religion isn't gonna do it for them and that I Want to answer your question without having to explain in Detail the entire Roman Catholic system because that could take a while But I'll just say that Roman Catholicism They're trusting in their own righteousness. They're trusting in their religion their sacraments penance all those kind of things and hopefully when they die they've done enough to get into heaven and if they haven't done enough to get into heaven, well, they'll go to purgatory and Be purged of their sin and then make it to heaven but It don't matter how long you sit in prison That's not gonna change your heart It don't matter how long you know If they believe in purgatory you need to explain to them it don't matter how long you're in purgatory That's not gonna change your heart. You must be born again Only God can save and you must be born again, you need a new heart you need Christ's righteousness You can talk to me afterwards, but I don't want to go into the entire system I'd get really long You have any other questions Austin So that's never happened to me I could probably you know, it's surprising you would think that People would be more hostile, but I could probably count on one hand how many times someone's actually gotten hostile typically people are too polite down here in the Bible Belt and They just they'll listen but they want the conversation to end But they don't I've never had someone get violent with me So That oh, okay, you want to bless the food Yeah Yeah You yeah, you're woke Sure sure absolutely Zach you can talk to me afterwards if you like Father God, thank you so much for the Lord Jesus Christ. Once again, Lord Thank you for my family here from our brothers and sisters in Christ Lord I pray that Tonight this message would become real To everyone here even more real father. God. I pray that it would cause people to go out and evangelize If there's anyone here that that don't know you and everything I've said is foreign to them father God, I pray you'd make it real to them and you'd save their soul father I pray that you would turn them into a true worshipper of you And Lord we thank you for the food this evening Lord and for everyone who has prepared it father. I Pray Lord that you would bless the food Lord that you would Clean it of impurities and rather use it to strengthen and nourish our bodies Lord And use it to help us to serve you father God and to do your will I Pray this in Jesus name. Amen again.
