Job 38-41 - 14th June 2026

Lord. Praise the Lord, oh my soul. The

Lord sets the prisoners free. The Lord

opens the eyes of the blind. The Lord

lifts up those who are bowed down. The

Lord loves the righteous.

Lord, we thank you for how good you are.

That you have set us free. Those of us

who have trusted in your son, the Lord

Jesus Christ.

Lord, that you our father are the father

to the fatherless.

That you comfort us, that you guide us,

that you care for us, that you lead us.

And for that we praise you.

And our father, we thank you that we

have once again your word in front of

us. We pray as we read this word that

you'd use it to penetrate our hearts.

that we'd hear it as the very word of

God that we need this morning for our

souls.

And Lord, I pray that we would not just

be hearers of the word, but doers of it

also. Help us, Lord, be faithful, active

listeners to what you have to say.

In your precious

name, Lord Jesus, I pray these things.

Amen.

We're going to think about a number of

questions this morning because these

chapters are chapters that are full of

questions.

And my first question for you this

morning is this. Have you ever been hurt

by someone you love?

Have you ever been hurt by someone you

love?

friend, family member, someone close to

you. Have you ever been hurt by someone

you love? And if you have been hurt by

someone you love, you start to ask a

load of questions.

Why did they do that?

Did they know that that hurt me?

Did they even care that that hurt me?

Have you ever been hurt by someone you

love? And when you're hurt by someone

you love, you start asking these types

of questions.

Job is a person who has been hurt by

someone he loves. At least this is the

way he sees it. That he has lost

everything in his life and he has been

hurt by God himself.

And so throughout these chapters,

Job himself has a number of questions

for God.

He's been asking all these why questions

in response to his suffering because he

feels that God has allowed him to be

hurt.

And so some of the questions he's asked,

I'd read I'll read three of them for

you. In Job 13:24, he asks, "Why do you

hide your face and count me as your

enemy, oh God?"

In Job 21:7, he asks, "Why do the wicked

Job 21:7

in this world still live?

Why are they the wicked allowed reach

old age?

And why are they allowed grow mighty?

Why' you allow the wicked go on and me

suffer, God? Why?

And in Job 24:1, he says, "Why does the

Job 24:1

Almighty not reserve times for judgment?

Why do those who know him never see his

days?"

So God, why do you allow the wicked keep

going? God, why have you allowed this

happen to me? And why, Lord, have we not

seen your days?

Why have you not come here and brought

about justice? Why?

These are Job's questions. They're

questions that Job asks because Job has

been one who has been hit with the

suffering of life.

And I gave you that example like the kid

in the playground. They're running

around in the playground and suddenly

they hit something. And when they hit

something and they're hurt, what do they

do? They start screaming and shouting

with pain. And that's the book of Job.

Job has been hit with life. And he's

screaming and he's shouting with pain.

And what happens when you see your

friend hurt on the playground? What do

you do? You run over. And so Elephas, he

runs over. And he sees Job's pain. And

what does he do? He just starts

screaming.

And Bildad comes over and he runs over

and he sees his friend in pain. And what

does he start doing? He starts screaming

and questioning.

And then Zofar sees Job in his pain and

he runs over as if in the playground and

sees the cuts on Job and and he starts

screaming.

And then Eliu, this young Eliu, his

words are kind of right, but but a lot

of the time they're wrong. and he runs

up and he sees all the damage and he

starts screaming. So here they are in

the playground OF LIFE AND EVERYBODY'S

JUST SCREAMING.

WHAT DO they need? They need

the father, the almighty of heaven and

earth

to walk in and calm everything down.

That's what a good father does. And this

is what God the Father is going to do in

these chapters. It's time for the Lord

to speak.

And when the Lord speaks,

the Lord has questions of his own for

Job. And I want us to look at a number

of these questions. The first question

that the Lord asks Job is this. Job, who

are you?

Job 38:1 Then the Lord answered Job out

Job 38:1

of the whirlwind and said, "Who is this

that darkens counsel by words, without

knowledge? Dress for action like a man.

I will question you

and make and you make it known to me."

Do you hear the question that the Lord

is asking? You see, we think it is time

for the Lord to answer why all this

suffering. And the Lord does answer.

Chapter 38:1 it says these words, "And

the Lord answered, but how did the Lord

answer Job?" Not with the answers that

Job wanted. The Lord answers Job with

what? Questions.

And the first question is this, Job, who

are you?

Who is it

that comes and asks me all these

questions when you have no knowledge?

And the Lord tells him, tells Job,

here's what I want you to do, Job. I

have a few more questions and here's

what I'm asking you to do, Job. Job,

dress for action like a man.

Job, in other words, get your robe and

tuck it into the belt and get ready

because I have some questions for you.

It's like the parent coming to the kid,

get yourself ready and then we're going

to talk.

Dress for action, Job. And then we're

going to talk.

And he asks Job just to humble him. Who

are you compared to me? Who are you one

who has no knowledge? And then he asked

his second question.

Where were you?

Verse four,

where were you when I laid the

foundation of the earth? Tell me if you

have understanding. Who determined its

measurements? Surely, you know, or who

stretched the line upon it? On what were

its bases sunk? Or or who laid its

cornerstone when the morning stars sang

together? And all the sons of God

shouted for joy.

Where were you, Job?

This is the question that the Lord asks

Job to humble him. Oh, I'm sorry, Job.

Where were you when creation began?

You see, because my Bible says in the

beginning, God.

It does not say in the beginning, Job.

It does not say in the beginning, you or

me. The Bible isn't about us. Life isn't

about us. Life is about who? In the

beginning, God.

God laid the foundations for the heavens

and the earth.

And God is saying

in verse 7, I remember because I was

there.

You see the morning stars, he says in

verse 7, they sang together.

Job, the stars, I remember they were

there because I put them there and I

know each one by name and they were

singing out my glory. But but you

I didn't hear a word from you.

Where were you when the stars were

singing?

Or verse 7, when all the sons of God

shouted for joy, the angels, the sons of

God were the angels. I'm sorry, Job. I

was there at the beginning. I mean, the

stars were singing, the angels were

singing, but Job, where were you?

What's the implied answer?

Job should say,

"Oh yes, Lord,

I was nowhere to be seen.

Lord, I was not there. I don't have full

understanding. I wasn't there from the

beginning of creation."

And so what this these questions tell us

is is a few things. The question that

God asks

in relation to our suffering,

the Lord answers Job, but he answers Job

with questions.

Do you know that Job, he is never going

to get an answer to the why question of

his suffering. Not once in this book

does he get an answer for the why

question of his suffering.

And I would suspect whatever world view

you have, you probably don't have an

answer for the why question of your

suffering either.

And yes, the Bible does give answers to

our suffering. Sometimes it's for our

maturity. James 1.

Sometimes it's to prove our genuiness in

one Peter.

Sometimes it is as a result of our sin

in one Corinthians.

But sometimes

you will never get the answer you want

for your suffering on this earth.

And the question in that moment,

believer, is this.

Will God be enough for you when you

don't have the answers?

Will he be enough for you even in your

suffering?

And the second thing I think we need to

learn from this is not only that we

won't get all the answers we want for

our suffering in this world

but also that I think we need to stop

our questioning at times. See Job was

full of questioning. Job was full of

doubt. Job was accusing God. And maybe

you've been hit with life recently

and you're you're you're doubting and

you're you're questioning and you're

wondering. And it's okay. The Psalms

gives categories for us to ask God

questions.

But I don't think there's quite a

category for accusations.

Maybe God is telling you this morning

this.

My child, my son, my daughter,

I would like you to stop moaning at me

and I would like you to start listening

to me.

Listen to his questions this morning.

Who are you?

Where were you when he created the

foundations of this world? And then he

moves from the personal questions onto

the kind of ability questions, the

control questions. Not only who are you

or where were you, but he moves to the

have you questions. Verse 12, he asks

this, "Have you commanded the morning

since your days began and cause the dawn

to know its place?

that it might take hold of the skirts of

the earth and the wicked be shaken out

of it.

Have you commanded the morning

since it has begun?

Do you have control over when the sun

rises and when the sun sets? Do you have

control of that?

Do you even know the time that that

happens?

Some of us might be able to kind of

guess when the time happens, but most of

us were asleep for both.

Are we really? Do you have control over

the sun rising and the sun setting?

What's the implied answer? No.

Next. Have question. Verse 16. Have you

entered into the springs of the sea or

walked in the recesses of the deep? Have

the gates of death been revealed to you?

Or have you seen the gates of deep

darkness? Have you commended the

comprehended the expanse of the earth?

Declare it if you know all this. Have

you?

So, have have you been able to cause the

sun to rise and set? Have you been able

to go down into the depths of the sea,

the deepest parts of oceans chaos? Have

you been there, a creation like I was,

being able to go down to the deepest

depths?

And what's the answer? Of course, it is

no. When was the last time you went to a

really deep swimming pool and tried to

swim right down to the bottom? What

starts happening as you go to the

deepest depths of the deepest swimming

pool that you can go into? What starts

happening? Your ears, they start

compressing.

your nose, it starts getting blocked and

you start to lose air

and then you need to get up and that's

just a swimming pool. You can't even GET

TO THE DEEPEST PART OF THE SWIMMING pool

and stay down there, let alone the

oceans of the world.

That's what God is asking. Have you done

that? What's the answer? No.

And then he moves to the next, have you?

Verse 22. Have you entered the

storehouses of snow? Or have you seen

the storehouses of hail, which I have

reserved for the time of trouble, for

the day of battle?

Not only do you have control over the

sun, do you have control over the seas?

Not only do you have control over the

seas, but do you have control over the

hail and the snow?

Well, when was the last time you saw

snow? And do you know when it's going to

happen again? No, because you have no

control over it. But the Lord, he does.

And it says he has control of it for the

battle of war. When the Lord was against

uh the Egyptians, what was what was the

plague that happened in Exodus chapter

nine? What was the plague that he sent?

The plague was that of hail.

He's in control of the sun when it

rises, when it sets. He's control of the

deepest of seas. He's in control of the

hail and the snow.

Do you have that kind of control? What's

the answer? No. And he moves from the

have you questions to the can you

questions.

Verse 31, he says, "Can you bind the

chains of Pelades or or loose the cords

of Orion? Can you lead forth uh Nazareth

in their season or can you guide the

bear with its children? Now he moves to

the stars. What about the

constellations?

Do you have control over the

constellations?

Can you loose its chains? Can you move

the constellations around? Can can you

do that, Job?

The answer is no. And then he moves on

to the next can you question. Verse 34.

Can you lift up your voice to the clouds

that a flood of waters may cover you?

Can you send forth lightnings that they

may go and say and say to you, "Here we

are.

What about the rain? Can you control

that? And the floodwaters, can you

control that? What's the answer? Think

you're getting it? No."

And then he moves to another can you

question, the third can you question.

But this time he moves from nature

to the natural animals.

And he says this in verse 39. Can you

hunt the prey of the lion or or satisfy

the appetites of of the young lions

when they crouch in their dens or or lie

in weight in their thicket? Can you

provide food for the lions? Can you?

What's the answer? I've been to Africa,

you know, you know, on one of those

trails or whatever. You start driving

and you're in this car and you you see

one of the lions. You see them and then

they start walking closer. And what do

you do? You don't stay there and say,

"Oh, little cute little lion." No. What

you do? You start driving. You start

driving away. Do you know why? Because I

can't provide food FOR THAT LION. WHAT

AM I? I AM THE LION'S FOOD.

The Lord, the Lord, he provides for all

the animals. He's in control of the sun

and the stars. He's in control of the

oceans. He's in control of of the

wildest of animals.

Even the lion, can you do that?

And he moves on to another animal. And

he moves on to another question. Not

only the have you questions or the can

you questions, but now he moves to the

do you questions.

Chapter 39:E1.

Do you know when the mountain goats give

birth? Do you observe the cving of the

doe's?

Most of us in Ireland, do we even know

what mountain goats are? Do you even

know what they look like? The country

folk might, but do you

now? Do you even know when they give

birth?

The Lord, the creator and maker of the

heavens and earth, not only knows when

every human being is going to be born

and the number of hairs on the human

being's head,

but he knows when every animal is going

to be born, the day, the time, the hour,

and he has control over all of it.

This is our God.

And then he moves to the last do you

question or the last one I will read

verse 19

of chapter 39 and he moves to another

animal

from the lion to the goat to the horse.

Verse 19. Do you give the horse his

might? Do you clothe his neck with a

man? Do you make him him leap like the

locust?

His majestic snorting is terrifying. I

don't know what kind of horse he's

talking about, but

do you have control?

Some people who are good with horses,

they have control.

Do you remember the first time you ever

sat on a horse? If you have,

you realize one thing. I have very

little control of this animal.

And if they want to kick you off, they

will.

The Lord, he has control over all of

nature

and over all of nature's animals.

Do you have that control?

The answer is no.

So, what are the answers? Let let's

let's go over the answers for a second

here.

What are the answers to all of the have

you questions?

Have you control over all of creation?

What's the answer? No.

What were the answers to all of the can

you questions?

Can you control the stars? What's the

answer? No.

What was the answer to all the do you

questions?

Do you know how to control all these

things? What's the answer? No.

Yet, what does every single human being

struggle with on this planet?

My need and my desire for control.

I wake up in the morning and I think

I've got this day under control. I'm

doing pretty good here.

You don't

you don't even know fully what's going

to be happening. Even if you write it

down on a calendar and plan it to its

end degree, you do not have control. And

that that is what God is trying to do

with Job. humble Job with each question

that Job will supply the answer himself

and finally be humbled before God and

realize he does not have control.

And that's what I think we should

realize too this morning. That you and

I, we don't have control. I read an

article this week called the heart of

control. I didn't want to read it

because I knew it would be convicting,

but I read it anyway.

And in this article, the heart of

control, they labeled out four reasons

why we can crave control from God. The

article was arguing that God is

sovereign. He's in control of all

things. And and we need to trust him.

But our scrambling and craving for

control is saying what to God. God, I

don't trust you. I've got this.

The Christian mentality is to open up

our lives, open up our hands, and say,

"God, I don't have this.

You're in control." So, what are the

four reasons that we crave control?

Number one, we fear uncertainty.

We like life to be certain and we fear

uncertainty. So, we crave control.

Number two, why we crave control? We

don't like vulnerability.

Who likes to be vulnerable? Nobody.

So, we crave control.

We want number three, we want to

guarantee the future.

And what do you know about guaranteeing

the future? You do not know what the

future holds. That's why we crave

control.

The fourth reason we crave control,

which relates to Job, is we want to live

a life that avoids all suffering and

pain. So, we'll try and control our

lives and control our children's lives

and control every single life and wrap

everybody all around in a nice little

bubble just so pain and suffering

doesn't come our way.

The reality in this broken world is you

cannot have control over even that.

It says this in the article, control

becomes our attempt to create a world

where nothing painful can happen. But

we've learned from the book of Job that

that world does not exist.

Four reasons we crave control. And then

four signs that you are controlling. You

probably know it already, but I'm going

to read them to you anyway.

One sign that you're controlling. Number

one, anger

when plans change.

You're probably a little controlling

when you start to get frustrated when

plans change.

Number two

sign that you're controlling, constant

frustration with others when they don't

meet expectations.

Controlling people have everything lined

up in a nice little neat line and when

someone comes in and makes some changes,

that line gets destroyed. What happens?

They get completely annoyed at

everything.

Number three sign of wanting to be in

control. excessive worrying about the

future. And number four, you're

constantly

manipulating others, pressuring others

to do what you want so they can fit into

your plan.

And so God asks these questions, have

you? Can you do you? And the answer is

no. And so if you like me find yourself

as controlling in different ways,

mightn't be throughout life, it might be

different parts of life that you see

yourself as a controlling person in

different parts of life. What should you

do? What is the hope for the controlling

person? Here is the hope of the gospel

for the controlling person.

Lord,

forgive me of my sins.

remind me that you're sovereign

and that I'm not even promised tomorrow.

And yes, I can make my plans, but

Proverbs tells me the Lord directs my

steps.

He is in sovereign control. So after we

repent of our our grasping for control,

what should we do? We should turn in

worship to the Lord because the answer

to these questions, have you, can you,

do you, is not just no, but it's more

specific than that.

Have you done these things? The Lord

says, here's your answer.

No, I haven't,

but you have.

Can you? The Lord asks the question.

You say, "No, I can't." But you can.

Do you? The Lord says, and you should

say, "No, I don't, but you do."

Do you have, the Lord says, control over

your life. You should say this morning,

Lord, no I don't, but you do. And I rest

my plans in your hands.

You lead and guide me, sovereign Lord

and King of my life. And that's where

Job Job is brought to this place of

humility.

And so in chapter 40 verse one, the Lord

finishes this kind of argument with the

big question. And the Lord said to Job,

"Shall a faultfinder contend with the

Almighty? He who argues with God, let

him answer it."

The Lord is saying to Job, "Can you find

fault with what I've said?" And you hear

Job's response. What is Job's response?

Chapter 40:3. Then Job answered the Lord

and said, "Behold,

I am of small account. What shall I

answer you? I lay my hand on my mouth.

I've I've spoken once and will not

answer twice, but I will not proceed.

But I will proceed no further.

Job responds to all these questions with

what?

Lord, I will finally do what I should

have done in all of the earlier chapters

of this book. I will finally take my

mouth and I will keep it shut and I will

listen to you.

That should be our posture.

Lord,

spent all this time accusing you.

It's now my turn to listen to you.

And the Lord asks Job the last question

he will ask.

Not have you or can you or do you, but

will you? Chapter 40 verse 6. Then the

Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind

and said, "Dress for action like a man.

I will question you and you make it

known to me.

Will you even put me in the wrong? Will

you condemn me

that you may be in the right?" The Lord

comes to Job again and for the second

time the Lord says, "Job, here's what I

want you to do." Job is silent. Job

seems humble. It seems like he's had

enough. And the Lord says, "No, no,

you've not had enough. Here's what I

want you to do. Get up out of bed.

Get your robe. Tuck it into your belt. I

have more to say to you. And I have more

questions for you.

Will you verse eight

even put me in the wrong? Will you

condemn me and be in the right?" In

other words, one of the biggest

questions in the book of Job is this. Is

God just? Job in all his questionings,

he was questioning the justice of God.

Job was saying this in his life. I am

blameless. Therefore, I am right and God

must be wrong. Whereas our posture

should always be not I am right and God

is wrong. My posture should be God, you

are right and I am wrong. And we see

this in reality in in the in the

authorities that God has put in place in

our lives. It is like it is like us

doing this. You're you're traveling on a

on a 50 km road or let's let's make it

even more annoying. You're traveling on

a on a 30 km road. I mean, who can drive

30 km? They shouldn't have those roads,

but they do have those roads. Have you

ever tried driving 30 km? Almost

impossible. You're almost parked.

But then you decide, you know what? I'm

not going to drive that speed anymore.

I'm going to drive what I want. And

instead of going 30 km, you start going

100 km and you start driving. And the

cop pulls you over, the police pull you

over, they take you out of the car, and

they they say to you, you you've been

speeding. And you say, "What? No, you're

wrong. I'm right."

Should we do that with that kind of

authority in our life? No.

or it's late at night, your parent comes

to you and they say, "It is time for

bed."

It's way past your bedtime, 2 hours

after your bedtime, and you say, "No,

you're wrong. I'm right."

Parents, would you advise your children

to say to you, "You're wrong. I'm

right." Would you? No, you wouldn't. And

yet, what do we do with God? Almost

every day of our lives, the creator of

the heavens and the earth, what do we

say to him?

You're wrong. I'm right.

Foolishness.

The Christian life, if you are going to

trust Christ this morning, it is the

first step to say this. I'm wrong in my

sin. And you are right.

And the Lord, he he he comes to Job and

he proves his justice to Job

in these final chapters, chapter uh 40

and 41. And how does he prove his

justice to Job? Well, he proves his

justice to Job by you've seen the

pattern of the questions, but there's

also the pattern of of of nature. So,

you have the pattern of nature where you

have the stars and you have the sun and

you have all that. And then you have the

p pattern of the the natural animals and

he's in control of all that. But then in

order to prove his justice, the Lord is

going to say, "I'm not only in control

of of nature. I'm not only in control of

the natural animals, the goats and the

lions and all that. He even mentions the

ostrich. I wanted to talk about the

ostrich, but I couldn't." He's in

control of all of those animals,

everything.

But he's also in control of the

supernatural animals, the supernatural

realm. And he talks about two

supernatural animals. He talks about the

behemoth. And he talks about the

behemoth for about 10 verses. Now, some

people think the behemoth is a hippo.

And you can think he's a hippo if you

want. I don't think he's a hippo. I

think he's a supernatural being that

represents evil and chaos. But if you

don't believe me, I want to point out to

you the other supernatural being, and

that is the Leviathan.

I told you all the way back in chapter 3

that there is this Leviathan, and we'd

explain it later. And I know you all

remember me saying that. And there's

this Leviathan here. And in order for

the Lord to show his justice, to show

his sovereignty, to show his control, he

doesn't just say, "I'm in control of all

nature." He doesn't just say, "I'm in

control of all natural animals." He's

saying now to Job, I'm in control of the

supernatural animals. He is in control

of the Leviathan. And he doesn't give

the Leviathan 10 verses like he gives

the behemoth. He gives the Leviathan one

full chapter to talk about this guy, the

supernatural animal. So, who is this

supernatural animal? Well, some believe

that this supernatural animal isn't

supernatural, that he's actually a

crocodile.

I think that is possible, maybe. But

when I look at this animal, the

Leviathan, it seems like a supernatural

creature that resembles something.

Here's why I think the Leviathan is a

supernatural creature. Number one,

humans can't catch him. Chapter 14,

verse one. Can you draw out Leviathan

with a f fish hook or press down his

tongue with a cord? Can you put a rope

in his nose or pierce his jaw with a

hook? Can you catch him? What's the

implied answer? No. Verse seven, can you

fill his skin with harpoons or his head

with fishing spears? What's the answer?

No. Verse 10. No one is so fierce that

he dares to stir him up. Who then is he

who can stand before me?

So I think this creature is a

supernatural creature because he can't

be caught by humans.

He's also probably not a crocodile

because he breathes fire.

Have you seen a crocodile breathe fire

before? I haven't. Verse 19, it says

this. Out of his mouth go flaming

torches, sparks of fire leap forth.

Verse 21, his breath kindles coals and

flame comes forth from his mouth. So

this creature, this supernatural

creature can't be thought caught by

human beings, breathes out fire, not

like a crocodile, more like a dragon.

And then this supernatural creature is

different from all the animals. Verse

33. On the earth there is not his like a

creature without fear. There is no

creature on the earth like this

creature. It seems like this creature is

a supernatural creature because he's

different from every other animal. And

lastly,

we see that he is likened to a king.

Verse 34, he sees everything that is

high. He is king over all the sons of

pride.

This Leviathan, this supernatural

creature is actually a king over all the

people of pride, over all the sons of

pride. The Lord is saying to Job making

the argument, Job, I am one who is just.

I do what is right and I show my justice

by bringing judgment upon Leviathan.

I am going to judge this creature. I am

going to judge this evil creature of

chaos.

So who is Leviathan?

I'd say Leviathan is not a crocodile.

I'd say Leviathan is representing a

supernatural creature of some sort of

evil who is in the seas of chaos seeking

to destroy God's people. Isaiah 27

verse1 says this about the day of the

Lord and the Leviathan. Listen to what

it says. The day that the Lord is coming

in his judgment. In that day, the Lord

with his hard and great and strong sword

will punish Leviathan,

the fleeing serpent. Leviathan, the

twisting serpent. He will slay the

dragon that is in the sea. Who is

Leviathan? Leviathan is a fleeing

serpent. Leviathan is a a twisting

serpent. Leviathan is a a dragon who is

in the sea. A dragon who on the day of

the Lord, the Lord will bring about

justice on Leviathan and destroy him.

Who is Leviathan picturing? Who is

Leviathan representing?

Leviathan is picturing and representing

the evil one,

Satan himself,

who one day the Lord will destroy and

one day the Lord will bring about

justice and judgment upon all evil.

In Revelation 20:2

Revelation 20:2

it says this, "And he seized the dragon,

that ancient serpent, who is the devil

and Satan, and bound him for a thousand

years and and threw him into the pit and

shut it and sealed it over him so that

he might not deceive the nations any

longer."

Who is Satan described as? the dragon,

the ancient serpent, the devil, Satan

himself. And one day, our God and King,

the king of justice, he will come back

again and destroy him fully and finally

and throw him into what Revelation 20 10

says, the lake of fire, which is a place

of burning and sulfur. And there the

devil will be defeated and he will be

tormented every day forever and ever.

That will be God's final justice.

So the Lord comes to Job and he says,

"Job, will you question me and my

judgment?"

And Job must say no because one day you

will bring ultimate justice.

You will destroy lith Leviathan and you

will curse him to the lake of fire

forever.

That is God's justice.

That's Leviathan's future.

What about your future?

Where are you this morning with Jesus?

Have you put your faith and trust in

Jesus?

Have you said to Jesus, "I want you to

be in control of my life.

I'm not running the show anymore, Jesus,

you are, and I'm asking you, Lord Jesus,

to forgive me of my sin that I might

trust in you for eternal life."

And if you put your faith and trust in

Jesus this morning, today, you will have

eternal life with him. You will inherit

the place of no more tears, no more

sorrow, no more pain. You will be with

him forever. But if you do not

repent of your sin, the lake of fire is

the lake where you will be thrown for

eternity.

And there

the scripture says,

you will burn and be tormented in the

just judgment of God forever.

If you have not put your faith and trust

in Jesus, if you have not repented of

your sin, I call on you today to do

that. Repent of your sin. repent because

that's exactly what Job does. When Job

hears all this picture and sees all of

what is happening and sees that God has

control even over Leviathan,

what does Job do?

Job repents. Let me just read these

final verses.

Chapter 42:1.

Then Job answered the Lord and said, "I

know that you can do all things

and that no purpose of yours can be

thwarted.

Who is this that hides counsel without

knowledge? Therefore, I have uttered

what I did not understand, things too

wonderful for me which I did not know.

Hear and I will speak.

I will question you and you make it

known to me.

I had heard of you by the hearing of the

ear, but now my eye sees you.

Therefore, I despise myself and repent

in dust and ashes.

That's the place we should come to when

the Lord says, "Who are you? Where were

you?

Have you? Can you? Do you? Will you?

What's the answer?

I can't, Lord.

Only you can. I repent of my sin and I

trust in you. Let's pray.

Lord Jesus, we thank you for this time

when we can remember what you have done

and that you have defeated the evil one

on the cross.

for the forgiveness of our sins. And I

pray Lord Jesus that each one here would

be ones who repent and pay put their

faith and trust in you our savior.

In Jesus precious name I pray these

things. Amen. Let's stand and sing in

response to the Lord and who he is.

Let's stand and sing to him the praises

he deserves.
