Don't let ambition kill you

praise the Lord Jesus Christ God is good I just want to share a word of edification you know it's very important that we don't let our ambition take us outside the will of God so we can have good intentions and be sincere about our good intentions but we can be sincerely wrong in our good intentions so we're just going to read 1st Samuel chapter 13 verse 5 to 14 and it reads dulles and the Philistines gathered themselves together to fight with Israel thirty thousand chariots and six

thousand horsemen and people at the sand which is on the seashore and multitude and they came up and pitched in the McMath eastward from that haven when the men of Israel saw that they were in a strait for the people were distressed then the people did hide themselves in caves and in thickets and in rocks and in high places and in pits and some of the Hebrews went over Jordan to the Land of God and gali as the saw he was yet in yoga and all the people followed him trembling and he tarried seven days

according to the set time that Samuel had appointed but Samuel came not to give God and the people were scattered from him and Saul said bring hither a burnt offering to me and peace offerings and he offered the burnt offering and it came to pass that as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering behold Samuel came and saw went out to meet him that he made that he might salute him Samuel said what has that done and Saul said because I saw that the people were scattered from me and

that dock came is not within the days appointed and that the Philistine gathered themselves together at McMath therefore said i the philistines will come down now upon me to kill go and I have not made supplication unto the Lord I forced myself therefore and offered a burnt offering and Samuel said to Saul thou had done foolishly thou has not kept the commandment of the LORD thy God which he commanded me for now would the Lord have established a kingdom upon Israel forever but now thy kingdom shall

not continue c11 mistaken can cost a lot the Lord has sought him a man after his own heart and the Lord had commanded him to be captain over his people because thou had not kept that was the LORD commanded me so we see here that fear came upon Saul and he didn't wake up on Samuel and so sometimes what can happen in our lives that we can have such an ambition to do the work of God we can have a mission to do certain things but it's important for us to wait upon the Lord and it's important for us to make sure that we do

things according to his way so we can't try to go ahead of God that's basically what happened here saw went ahead of God he went ahead because he thought that oh I better hurry up to a sacrifice when when you know if God is in control he should have trusted and known that God was in control and that it's going to be fine samuel was coming and you noticed that Samuel literally came right after he finished so it's like you really have been today he could have waited so this thing cost him it cost him the kingdom

so that this is very very important so we see here you can have ambition to do good but that ambition can cause you to sin it can imply a concoction to go astray so we learned that at the end just because you have a good idea that's not necessarily a god idea so God has an order and a pattern for us to follow so we can't go to the left or to the right we need to make sure that we stay on the straight and narrow path this is why it's important to be led by the spirit so the spirit has to lead us in

everything we do and we have to be completely dependent on him for example a minister can be ambitious to want to grow the church and through his ambition he starts to think he starts to you know ponder and start to figure out gee how can I go to church how can I get more people to come how can I get people to give and so we can get a bigger place a bit you know to get more things and this and that so if you start doing that what happens is you start forming your own ideas you start coming up with with men's wisdom

of how to grow the church because God already gave us a pattern so for example I'll show you to the scriptures so 1st Corinthians chapter 2 verse 4 and 5 it reads does that my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men but in the power of God so Paul saying getting cometh enticing words so therefore we don't have to entice people to come we don't have to try to come up

with gimmickry or some form of gimmicks to try to get people to come to church because he didn't come with enticing words he didn't come with man's wisdom and trying to lure people he came in the demonstration of the power of God and we know that was the example that we have because we're gonna read Acts chapter 2 verse 42 to 47 and it says and they continued steadfastly in the Apostles doctrine and fellowship and breaking of bread and prayers and fear came upon every soul and many way

Acts 2:42–47

wonders and signs were done by the apostles and all that believed were together and had all things coming and so the possessions and goods and part of them to all men as every man had me and then continuing daily with one Accord in the temple and breaking bread from house to house they eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart praising God and having favor with all the people and this is the weapon and the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved I'm also going to read Acts chapter 5 verse 12 to 16 he

Acts 5:12–16

says and by the hand of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people and they were all with one Accord and suliman's porch and of the rest there's no man to joining himself to them but the people magnified them the apostles and believers were let the more added to the Lord multitudes both of men and women in so much that they brought forth the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and couches that the least the shadow of Peter passing by my overshadows some of

them there came also a multitude out of the city round about unto Jerusalem bringing sick folks and that which were vexed with unclean spirits and they were healed every one so the pattern that God gave us is that we demonstrate the power of God when we demonstrate the power of God look what it says people from the multitude from cities will come to seek healing they seek them and it says they were healed even the people that were vexed with unclean spirits every one of them so we don't need gimmickry in the church we don't

and notice that they didn't have a problem about people giving the people gave they were all with one Accord they sold their possessions and they gave to the Apostles and laid it at their feet and they distributed among the people there was no lack among them there is no gimmicks there was no form of entertainment there is no marketing schemes there was no coaching people to get are using psychology methods or oppressing the people to give it was all done through the spirit everything was done out of love the Holy Ghost move the

manifestation of the Spirit of God moved and then the people gave and it was willing nobody even asked them so this is the pattern that were supposed to follow so we can see here that if I have this great ambition to grow the Church of God I can't try to go ahead of God I can't try to come up with my own ideas to grow the church because what you're ending up doing is you're you're trying to grow the church do flex the ideas that doesn't work we have to do things according to the spirit so we don't want

our ambition to basically kill us because that's what happened to solve so we don't want our I guess we can be enthusiastic we can be ambitious but we have to be ambitious in the right things so I need to be if I want the church to grow I need to be ambitious in seeking the face of God I need to be ambitious in fasting I need to be ambitious in evangelizing I need to be ambitious and seeking the face of God to get Direction constantly and so that I operate in the gifts of the Spirit because that's how

these miracles happen because they're operated in the gifts so in order for us to truly have a revival and a move of God today we have to operate in the gifts of the Spirit but we can't let our ambitions be basically caused us to go astray causes the sin against God because we're not willing to wait on God oh we're not going to do a God's Way so we need to not try to come up with our own ideas and try to you know you try to force people to game or try to try to use psychology and say oh you

know you get you'll be blessed and try to convince people to give that's not in the scripture so if people are doing that their Aaron you're just tuning it back with your own ambition let God do the work God is God people's God's church so we need to let him build it and this isn't just for ministers and growing the church but this is just for everyday life of the saint that you can be very ambitious about our jobs we can be very ambitious about certain things and I like trying to obtain a house or

trying to attain that car or certain things so you can be so ambitious to try to get these things and like maybe you're spending all your time you know working hard working working working but you spend so much time working that you don't give yourself time to God so that ambition is killing so you gotta learn to let God bless you because the blessings of God come easy the blessings of God come and you you don't have to strive in the flesh for them so it's important for us not to that our

ambition to take us away from the will of God so if a job is gonna take you away from from seeking the face of God and in being faithful to God then that's not a job that you want you have to prioritize you want to live your life to fulfill your God ordained purpose so don't just live your life just to attain things because those things are gonna perish so it's very important with all that ambition again to destroy us our ambition has to be in the will of God so I hope that helps some people that yes

it's good to have a mission but make sure that it's done according to the of God praise God
