Praise the Lord Jesus Christ. Hallelujah. Today we're going to talk about baptism
-
and how it's supposed to be done according to the Scriptures. We're going to pray.
-
Lord Jesus, we can do nothing without you. We pray, God, that you will lead
-
us today and that you will help us to understand what is required of us and,
-
for us to fulfill the Scriptures as it is written.
-
So open our understanding, Lord. Remove, O God, any doubt or any lies of the enemy.
-
Everything, every false way that's not of you, Lord. expose all the works of
-
darkness. In the name of Jesus Christ, let your revelation of truth be poured out. Amen. Praise God.
-
So today, mainly, there's two ways, pretty much, people baptize.
-
There's three, I guess, if you want to, you know, add certain things.
-
So for instance, there's being baptized in the name of the titles,
-
which they say in the name of the Father, Son, Holy Ghost.
-
And then there's people who say we baptize in the name of Jesus Christ.
-
And on top of that, then there's the difference between, for instance,
-
Catholics who will sprinkle water for their baptisms.
-
And then the other one is immersion, which is to be completely submerged underwater.
-
So according to the scriptures, let's go there first. Let's go to Matthew 28, verse 19.
-
So it says this. It says, go ye therefore and teach all nations.
-
Baptizing them in the name of the Father.
-
And of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. We need to pay attention to this scripture
-
because it is not telling us to baptize in Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. That's not what it says.
-
It's very clear. He said, baptizing them in the name of. Father is not the name.
-
Son is not a name. Holy Ghost is not a name. So if I told you to baptize me in my Father's name,
-
You don't repeat what I say You have to do what I say And the first thing you
-
need to know Is my father's name,
-
So you don't You're not obeying the scriptures By repeating what he said If
-
the doctor gives you a prescription You have to take the prescription In order for it to do his job,
-
But you're not obeying it,
-
If it was for instance If it was a password To get into heaven And I said,
-
okay, well, the password to get in is my father's name.
-
You can't come to me and say, I say, what's the password? You say, my father's name.
-
That's not going to work. It's the name. The name is how you get in.
-
The Bible says in Acts 4.12, there's no other name given among men whereby we must be saved by.
-
So there is no other name. We're saved by the name because we are buried in his name.
-
So, for example, let's go to Romans chapter 6 and we'll read verse 3.
Romans 6 chapter mention
-
Romans chapter 6, listen to this, from verse 3, Know ye not that so many of
Romans 6 chapter mention
-
us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into His death?
-
Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death, that like as Christ
-
was raised up from the dead by
-
the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
-
For if we have been planted together in the likeness of His death,
-
We shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.
-
So we are buried with him.
-
We're buried with Christ through baptism. So buried, that's why we emerge.
-
Even the word baptism, if you look up the Greek word as bapto,
-
which means to be completely immersed.
-
So there is no other way to do it except for being immersed in the name of Jesus
-
Christ. How do I know that?
-
Because when we go to Acts chapter 2 and the very first message that was preached
Acts 2 chapter mention
-
in the church age, we learn that verse 38, when they asked the question in verse
-
37, how shall we be saved? What shall we do? Verse 38 says, repent.
-
So I'm going to deal with that too. What does repentance mean?
-
Repentance doesn't mean say, I'm sorry.
-
Repentance means to turn. So by you saying sorry and if you continue in sin, you didn't repent.
-
Repentance means to turn from your sins.
-
To turn your back on sin and then turn towards God, turn towards the light and obey Him.
-
So that's what true repentance is. It's when you turn from your sins.
-
Then it says, repent and be what? Baptized every one of you. How?
-
In the name of Jesus Christ. Why? For the remission, for the removal of sins.
-
So the name is what applies the blood of Jesus to our life.
-
The Bible says we put on Christ through baptism.
-
How do we do that? By taking on his name. It's like a marriage.
-
When someone gets married, they take on the name of the husband.
-
Well, we are the bride of Christ and we take on his names through baptism.
-
So the name is what saves us. When we cast out demons, we don't cast out demons in titles.
-
We don't say in the name of father, in the name of son and holy ghost, get out.
-
It won't work because there's no power in that. The Bible says he has a name
-
that's above every name. Every
-
knee shall bow. Every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
-
Jesus Christ is Lord. You need to use the power of the name.
-
The name is what applies the blood to your life.
-
So there is no other way. There's not both. There's not one or the other.
-
You need to be baptized in the name because he's coming back for a church called
-
by his name without spot or wrinkle.
-
So you need the name of Jesus to be saved.
-
This is how we baptize. And first of all, there's no scripture in the Bible
-
where anyone was baptized in the titles. Show it to me.
-
It's not in there. So if it's not in there, why are we doing that?
-
Why are people practicing it? Why is this even a debate? This is not a debate, brethren.
-
The word of God can't lie. He said, do it in the name of the father.
-
The name of the son. The scripture says Jesus came in his father's name.
-
We know the name of the son is Jesus. He said, I will send a comforter in my name.
-
One name. Doesn't say names. It's not plural because it's one God.
-
One God we serve. So it's one name we're saved by.
-
So if we're going to baptize, we should do it according to the examples that
-
we have that are in the Bible.
-
There is no other example. All the scriptures teach us that baptism in Jesus'
-
name. You don't believe me?
-
Acts 2.38 says, which I already quoted to you. Repent, be baptized,
-
everyone in the name of Jesus Christ.
-
You go to Acts chapter 10.
Acts 10 chapter mention
-
Let me go there quickly. And why I'm going to these scriptures,
-
because these were all conversions.
-
And what does it say? They were baptized, says, oh, I'm in the wrong book.
-
So it says, and he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord.
-
So if they did it in the name of the Lord, are we going to say he did it in
-
Father, Son, Holy Ghost?
-
Or is it going to be in the name, which is Jesus? The name that's above every
-
name, that every knee is going to bow to.
-
Then we go to Acts chapter 19. We go to verse 1 and 6.
Acts 19 chapter mention
-
And it says, I'm going to read verse 5. It says, when they heard this,
-
they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
-
In the name of the Lord Jesus.
-
And if you go to even Acts, I skipped over chapter 8, says.
-
Acts chapter 8 verse 16 says, For as yet he was fallen upon none of them,
-
only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
-
Again, the scriptures don't lie. The scriptures are consistent.
-
There is no other name. There is no other example in the Bible.
-
So why would you take the scriptures out of context? Why would you use Matthew
-
28, 19, which tells us it's not a contradiction. It literally says to do it
-
in the name of the father, the name of the son, the name of the Holy Ghost.
-
There's only one name because there's only one God.
-
So I hope you get this revelation. It's very simple.
-
Some people are very complicating things. It's not that complicated.
-
Jesus is the Father. He's the Son. He's the Holy Ghost.
-
The Father represents the Spirit of God.
-
The Son represents God in the flesh. So God's a Spirit. We can't see His Spirit.
-
So He robed Himself in flesh so that we could see Him, but it wasn't really for that purpose.
-
It was for the redemption of man so that He could die because God doesn't have
-
blood, but yet He purchased us with His blood because He robed Himself in flesh.
-
He came down in the form of a servant. That's what Philippians 2 says.
-
He came down the form of a servant.
-
So, and then we know the Holy Ghost is God. The Holy Ghost is the Spirit of
-
God. There's not multiple spirits of God. There's one Spirit of God. He is the Spirit.
-
One Lord, one faith, one baptism. There's only one way to do things.
-
And that's God's way, not my way.
-
So God bless you. If you have any questions, let them put them in the comments.
-
And I'll get back to you in Jesus' name. Amen.
