  1. Guys we are talking about the characteristics of

  2. Presence and we finished reconciliation. We finished

  3. Prosperity finished as and we've touched on reconciliation and prosperity and now we come to the fear of God and we had

  4. Talked about the fear of God in Feb in the middle of Feb

  5. We had talked about the fear of God, but there's more added to it now

  6. Should be the case and so we look at it again

  7. So what are we saying? We are saying that Moses said in Exodus 33 verses 11 14 to 17

    Exodus 33:11

  8. Moses said that oh God

  9. Your presence is what distinguishes us from all the people of every other nation on the face of the earth. And so

  10. that's what makes us distinct and

  11. That's where we started some six weeks ago

  12. And we are saying that when the presence of God is in a people there are some characteristics that are manifested

  13. One of the characteristics we said is reconciliation. We dealt with that

  14. the other characteristic is prosperity which we talked about last week and

  15. Now we're talking about the fear of God a people in whom the presence of God is

  16. Manifest not as in resident, but both resident and manifest will

  17. Cultivate or will express this amazing thing called the fear of God

  18. and

  19. So, how do I know or how do you know that Jacob in your life?

  20. There is a manifest presence of God you will see in Jacob's life the cultivation of the fear of God

  21. And so we're going to talk about what this fear of God is today

  22. And so what did we say these characteristics or outworkings of his manifest presence are we said reconciliation? We said prosperity

  23. We said fear of God

  24. Then we'll deal with fearlessness as in boldness

  25. signs and wonders zeal and

  26. passion

  27. Introduction as in both after his kind and numerically

  28. Liberty as in freedom and Dominion these are the topics that we will cover and then perhaps stop or add more to it

  29. So let's talk about the fear of the Lord guys. Here's the thing

  30. The fear of the Lord is a fear born in love

  31. It really complicates things the fear of the Lord

  32. Is a fear

  33. That is born out of love

  34. That is born out of love in that it dreads

  35. Offending

  36. The father I

  37. Love

  38. Very different from the Old Testament concept

  39. In the Old Testament the fear of the Lord

  40. Had reverence in it and had a lot of trembling and shaking in it. I'm not saying we have

  41. We put that behind but in the New Testament

  42. There's this new new take on the fear of the Lord where the fear of the Lord is a fear

  43. That is born out of love and what do I mean by that?

  44. It's that I dread offending the father I love

  45. How cool is that that I dread offending the father I love

  46. It's a fear born out of love

  47. So the fear of God is impossible

  48. without

  49. recognizing the love of the father so that you can now love him back and live in the fear or the dread of

  50. offending

  51. the father who you love I

  52. Love what Jesus has done to to the Old Testament

  53. He's put such a cool spin on it

  54. Where everything changes

  55. So the fear the Lord is a fear born out of love it dreads offending the father that you love

  56. And so it's impossible to understand the fear of God unless you understand the love of the father

  57. It's impossible to have the fear of God without understanding the love of the father

  58. So

  59. We cannot therefore understand the fear of God without understanding the love of the father

  60. Comes back to all that we are talking about yesterday

  61. So let me throw these things at you just so you have an estimation of where you are at and where I'm at

  62. And how we need to upgrade

  63. Guys as 2014 rolls around comes along you're okay. Come on feeling hot cold

  64. You're feeling warm, but otherwise you're good

  65. This is true, yes, it'll change perhaps after tonight so the

  66. The fear of God is not just about the fear of God

  67. The

  68. The fear of the okay, so guys here are some questions I want questions and statements

  69. I want to throw out at you and me and it'll give us an understanding of where we are at and I would so suggest

  70. That as 2014 rolls along

  71. Why don't you upgrade why don't you upgrade your perception of God because it's vital to this

  72. So what is your vision of the father? What is your vision or your perception of the father?

  73. Because guys how you see him is how you will see yourself and

  74. How you will live your life I

  75. Think it's such an important statement that I've made

  76. What is your vision or perception of the father?

  77. Because how you see him is

  78. How you will see yourself and how you will live your life

  79. For example if I see the father as judgmental

  80. Then I will see my life as one that has to be severely judged analyzed

  81. And I will live my life that way too afraid of being judged

  82. if I see my father as

  83. joyful and

  84. kind I

  85. Will begin to live a life that now basks in

  86. His kindness and his joy over me

  87. And I'll begin to live that way if I see the father as uninterested I

  88. will see

  89. My life as one that has to constantly do things to persuade or draw his interest

  90. And I'll begin to live my life striving always for his interest

  91. Go home and ask yourself

  92. Go home and ask yourself

  93. What is my perception of the father and it will show you why your life is where it is and why my life is where it is?

  94. Because how I see him is how I see myself and how I live my life if I seem as hard to please

  95. Then how do I see my life a life that is constantly trying to please that is constantly trying to be deserving and

  96. So everything in my life gets colored my marriage gets colored how I get money gets colored

  97. How I relate to you gets colored because now

  98. There is this need in my life because I see the father differently to always please

  99. How do you see the father

  100. Are you a sinner who struggles with the love of the father

  101. Are you a sinner who struggles with the love of the father or are you a lover of the father?

  102. Who occasionally sees the father?

  103. Or are you a lover of the father who occasionally struggles with sin?

  104. Are you a sinner who struggles with the love of the father?

  105. Or are you a lover of the father?

  106. Who occasionally struggles with sin?

  107. Changes everything depending on where I'm at if I am suffering

  108. If I am someone who as a Christian bound for heaven

  109. Is struggling with the concept of the love of the father on a daily weekly basis then yes

  110. This thing called sin can be overpowering

  111. Or am I a lover of the father which makes it then

  112. So different because now I'm the lover of the father I'm a lover of the father who struggles with sin every now and then

  113. Guys the right image of the father

  114. Will open heaven for you here on earth

  115. I'm telling you man. It is so true

  116. The right image of the father will open heaven for you here on earth

  117. So upgrade your image as 2014 comes along upgrade that image

  118. As the image of my father changes to who he is

  119. Heaven will open here on the earth for me. I mean we sang

  120. Your presence is heaven to me

  121. A couple of days ago one of the things a lot was saying to me was heaven has plenty of all that you need I

  122. Was struggling with the love of the father

  123. I was struggling with an aspect of provision and

  124. The song came to man and I started singing it and in the middle of the song I felt the Lord saying hey Jacob

  125. Heaven has plenty of all that you need not heaven has enough for you or heaven is sufficient heaven has plenty of

  126. all that you need and

  127. Suddenly I began to hone in on the father as

  128. One who provides just like my earthly dad did my earthly dad went out of his way

  129. He worked longer

  130. Beyond retirement because his son was not still on his feet and was in Canada

  131. And he's worked a couple of years more so that he could send me money

  132. Because I squandered a lot of his money so he had to work an extra two years, but he still did it

  133. The image of the father

  134. If upgraded will open heaven to you on earth so

  135. Ask myself. What is my perception of God when I pray is he?

  136. Someone who needs to be persuaded

  137. Amazing how many times we think that that as we pray God is someone who has to be persuaded

  138. Yeah, but he has to be persuaded

  139. Is the father someone who needs to be persuaded or

  140. When I go to pray do I think that the father is someone who's

  141. deeply interested in me and delighted with me and is

  142. Intently having his ear inclined to me every time I open my mouth

  143. What a difference prayer will take on if I think God does not need to be persuaded and

  144. That is actually interested and delighted in me

  145. There are days when your children know that you're in a good mood and

  146. Those days they come to you and they ask for ridiculous things. I

  147. Remember one day when my dad I know I've told you this when my dad took me

  148. With him in a Jeep into a market area. I knew he was in a good mood

  149. I knew he was in a good mood

  150. He loved having my company there and we saw a guy with a horse and it's colt walking by the roadside

  151. And I asked my dad to stop Jeep and asked him to buy me the horse

  152. Because I wanted to go to school on a horse. I wanted to ride to school

  153. And he was in such a good mood that he

  154. He stopped we looked at the horse and then he told me

  155. Asked me whether I'd be willing to get up in the morning feed the horse

  156. Asked me whether I'd like to clean up its poo when it poos

  157. asked me where I would tie up the horse when I'd be in class and

  158. He didn't need to ask too many questions. I said no dad

  159. I'll bike to school and so I decided to bike and not ride a horse the point being I

  160. Always wanted to be the first cowboy in India, but no what?

  161. First Indian cowboy

  162. A 10 gallon hat yeah, oh

  163. No, it's right there

  164. It's right there and no I'd prefer coming by my Tucson and not by a horse to church. So don't buy me one

  165. Yeah, that's the Mexican as usual we are going down a rabbit trail let me get his back I

  166. Started it. I admit. Yeah, so guys

  167. It's so different when you know, your dad is interested that his ear is inclined to you that he delight

  168. He's delighted with you being with him

  169. How it changes prayer but I would suggest to you that many of us me included so many times

  170. Feel like we have to persuade him in prayer

  171. Do you know that he loves you by choice and not because he created you

  172. He loves you by choice

  173. He chooses this is his choice. He wants to love me. He loves me by choice and

  174. Yet how often do I try to deserve the father's love so much of my life is sometimes spent trying to deserve the father's love

  175. But he loves me by choice. I

  176. Have phrased differently once before I said he loved us into existence

  177. He loved us. He didn't even create us. He loved us into existence

  178. it's a choice he's it's his choice and

  179. Yet so much time I spend in deserve deserving his love

  180. I said this yesterday when you do well God approves of you when you do poorly God accepts you

  181. When you do well God approves of you when you do poorly

  182. God accepts you

  183. There's never any deserving of his love. I was fascinated by this statement a

  184. Question do you think guys?

  185. That the father loves you more today than when you were an unbeliever

  186. Just think of that

  187. He does not love you more today than when you were an

  188. Unbeliever and lived in hostility or did not know him. He does not love you more today if that is the case

  189. It's ridiculous

  190. To think that people out there who do not know the Lord are loved as much

  191. By him today as they will if they met the Lord tomorrow

  192. What

  193. Is the father's love for you ever less than 100% no it has never been less than 100% since the day you were born

  194. the difference is we now begin to experience it because we know him and

  195. They are not able to experience it

  196. They occasionally catch glimpses of it and they perhaps give credit to some other person or some other God

  197. But it's things that God loved me the same as he loves me today even when I did not know him

  198. Bless is my heart

  199. What kind of God is this but you see when we begin to see the father like this?

  200. You're like a child that is weaned

  201. Quiet restful peace

  202. You

  203. Here's another question is the father the happiest person you know

  204. We never think of stuff like that because from what we've heard he's grumpy most of the time

  205. Is the father the happiest person you know?

  206. Is he the kindest person you know

  207. Is he the most trustworthy person you know

  208. I

  209. When was the last time you were overwhelmed by his love tangibly

  210. You know I believe he's trustworthy, but I've never thought of him as the happiest person I know

  211. The joyfullest happy happiest

  212. Irrepressibly laughter-filled God I don't often think of him like that

  213. Because if I did it would change the way I approach him to change the way I live and it will change the way

  214. I live with you

  215. Does it occur to you that he looks forward to loving and enjoying you every day

  216. Not to me doesn't happen to me every day

  217. Does it occur to you that he looks forward to enjoying and loving you every day?

  218. There are days I wake up, and I don't think he's particularly looking forward to enjoying me today

  219. Guys the reason I'm asking this question is to expose where our minds and our hearts are at what a different God we are looking at

  220. But if I don't recognize

  221. This father that we are talking about then the fear of God cannot be born

  222. Out of love and I will not dread offending the father I love

  223. Because I cannot love him till I recognize how much he loves me you know we let circumstances harass us

  224. Torment us and frustrate our relationship with the father have you noticed how in circumstances get

  225. Tight when things begin to press in what does it do it harasses torments and frustrates our relationship with him

  226. It's like where is he he's not here abandoned and no good. I've said my prayers nothing has happened

  227. Line after line after line comes out I would suggest to you that circumstances reveal two things one it reveals our

  228. understanding of God and to our understanding of the nature of the father

  229. Both are the same circumstances revealed our understanding of the nature of the father. This is why I said some weeks ago I

  230. Think I quoted Abraham Lincoln. He said if you give me four hours to cut down a tree. I'll spend three hours sharpening the axe

  231. It's during times of peace when there are no

  232. Problems when there is no crisis that I'm supposed to sharpen my axe so that when crisis comes it

  233. Reveals my understanding of the nature of the father

  234. Meditate on scriptures guys that reflects the nature of God. I'll help you with that today before you go

  235. Meditate on scriptures that reflect the nature of God

  236. How take one scripture and spend an entire week going over it again and again and again and again and again a

  237. Couple of weeks ago. I think it was Psalm 28 verse 7 or something

    Psalms 28:7

  238. I got every morning I'd get up and I'd go over it again and again and again

  239. What is meditating self God directed self-talk God directed self-talk where I take the scripture

  240. It's God directed and I examine it from every side just like you examine

  241. Your iPhone 5s

  242. Look at this way than this way

  243. It's the same phone but every angle and if it's got a gold back or then you show it around to oh

  244. No, I'm not looking at you know why you are feeling guilty suddenly

  245. I just heard it today in the living news and whatever

  246. You read that verse she read it right now we all nodded sagely which is great we should not sagely

  247. But now if you really want to understand that you'll have to take it for a week at least go over it

  248. Again and again and again pondering on it and then it becomes real

  249. Changes your perception of God and your mind. Yeah

  250. Any questions before we go on?

  251. Any questions before we go on that was not a question by the way, yeah, it's very rarely that answers come from that side of the room

  252. Okay

  253. So so what is the fear of the Lord

  254. Let's examine other things about the fear of the Lord keeping this in the background

  255. We always keep this in the background as we talk about the fear of the Lord

  256. The fear of the Lord guys part of it is Deuteronomy 424 where it says our God is a jealous God

  257. He's a consuming fire our God is a jealous God. He's a consuming fire

  258. Why are why am I bringing that up guys one of the things you need to understand about the father is that he is

  259. Consuming fire and he'll actively clean your house

  260. Torching all that needs to be burnt and he won't quit until it's cleansed

  261. That is the nature of a loving father

  262. God is consuming fire because he's jealous over his reputation and over you because his reputation is now connected to you

  263. God is consuming fire because he's jealous over his reputation and over you because his reputation is now connected to you

  264. Hey

  265. Why is it that when?

  266. Gabriel starts crying

  267. After a while when the crying gets louder and louder and louder

  268. Why does Mary Anna walk with the child into the room two reasons one

  269. It's her child needs to be calmed. That's one two

  270. she does not want you to think that her child is a reason for a disturbance because

  271. Her reputation as a mom is connected to her child. And so she takes a child and moves away

  272. We don't realize this but our father thinks of us much

  273. Highly year than we think of him

  274. Highly areas Greek and so

  275. And so so I knew there was something wrong with the word

  276. Thank You Elma for helping out and so

  277. because he thinks of us much higher than we think of him his reputation is connected to me and

  278. So one of the things God does as a father is he's consuming fire in that he will actively

  279. Cleanse or clean my house. He will torch all that needs to burn and he won't quit

  280. Until I'm clean

  281. this is the nature of the father and if I

  282. continually resist this

  283. program of

  284. Cleaning that he initiates because he's consuming fire. He has another option

  285. which

  286. You won't like he'll just tell you come home and he'll take you home

  287. As in

  288. You ain't changing here Jacob, so why don't I just change you and bring you to live with me

  289. Don't be scared of death just be scared of all the things that will be left undone if that happens

  290. Death is a micro fraction of a second. So

  291. It's over

  292. Not even over

  293. You didn't even hear that because it was that fast

  294. So don't be afraid of death, but be afraid of the stuff that is left undone

  295. So I would rather I would rather

  296. So don't be afraid of death, but be afraid of the stuff that is left undone

  297. So I would rather actively participate in his clean cleaning up here where his cleaning house where is torching all that needs to be burned

  298. He did this with the temple by the way brought a whip and chased out everything we prayed that last week

  299. So be aware that it's been initiated in prayer and it'll happen to your lives in mine and it'll start with me

  300. So don't think

  301. That it won't happen. We asked God for that and I heard you guys saying amen. Amen as I was praying

  302. Then is laughing

  303. Jesus cleans the temple in Revelation 3 19. He says those that I love I to rebuke

  304. Those that I love I rebuke

  305. My dad

  306. Helped me that way tremendously

  307. Look at listen to these two lines a guy called Mike Yaconelli

  308. Said these lines. I love these two lines. The church must become a place

  309. Where God continually has to tell us fear not

  310. Why because his presence shatters our egos into dust

  311. burns our sin into ashes and

  312. strips us naked to reveal the real person within and

  313. Every time your lips say whoa, I'm undone. You will hear God whispering those three

  314. terrifying words I

  315. love you

  316. I'd love us to become a people like this

  317. Where we understand that God is consuming fire his father?

  318. He will torch all that is in my life that is unnecessary and doesn't look like Jesus

  319. he'll torch that he'll clean house and

  320. As I see his

  321. Magnificence and his jealousy over me

  322. I'll say like Isaiah said in Isaiah chapter 6

    Isaiah 6 chapter mention

  323. Whoa, I'm undone

  324. because I'm a man of unclean lips and

  325. As I say that I'll hear three terrifying words from his slips. I

  326. Love you and then the torching becomes easy

  327. I'll open up store rooms in my house that nobody knows of and I'll say father this one too. This one too. This one, too

  328. Because now I'm caught up in this statement. I dread offending the father

  329. I love and I'm open to him taking away things so that he chisels me into another Jesus

  330. Cool thing this fear of God is what a different take on it man

  331. Let's look at another reason what is the fear of the Lord the fear of the Lord is

  332. the

  333. Consciousness of a future appointment the fear of God is the consciousness of a future appointment

  334. The fear of God is the consciousness of a future appointment

  335. What do I mean by that not death second Corinthians 5 10?

  336. second Corinthians 5 10

  337. Where it says that sooner or later

  338. Matt and I you can pick whichever Matthew one

  339. sooner or later Matt and I

  340. Will have to face God appear before Christ and be judged for the works that Matthew 5 10

  341. For the works that Matt and I did here on earth

  342. It's called the Bema judgment

  343. It's not your eternal security is not in question. You have Christ in you. You're eternally saved

  344. but second Corinthians 5 10 talks about standing before Christ at

  345. what is called the Bema judgment where he will judge your works and

  346. Accordingly give you rewards

  347. It's no light thing guys to know that one day I will stand in that place of judgment Paul said

  348. That's why I work urgently with everyone. I meet to get them ready to face God

  349. That day God will sit there as father

  350. Yes, but he will sit there as a father who wants to see how his son did with what was given to them

  351. and

  352. It is no light thing says God

  353. It is no light thing says God

  354. When you stand before me that day Jacob and have to give an account for

  355. How you did and so Paul says and look at that's why I work urgently with everyone

  356. I meet to get them ready to face God. So there's there's happy tension where in Jude 24

  357. It says and now God is able to present you faultless and blameless before him

  358. So your eternal security is fine

  359. But yet at the same time there's revelations 22 12 which talks about shape up guys

  360. Because you will have to give account for how you lived with what you were given here on earth

  361. first Peter 1 17

  362. Since you call on a father

  363. Who judges each person's work?

  364. Impartially live out your time here in Vancouver as foreigners in reverent fear

  365. Let me read that again since you call on a father

  366. Who judges each person's work?

  367. impartially

  368. Live out your time as foreigners here in Vancouver in reverent fear

  369. First Peter 1 17

  370. So there is a facing God

  371. not as in

  372. There you are father come i'm going to come running to you and the father said just once like jake up

  373. You are my son, but this is a slightly different scenario and there were days like that with my dad

  374. Where he would say okay?

  375. I gave you work to do show me your work and those days if I went and tried

  376. Kutiku in my dad it was like pointless

  377. Because he wanted to see

  378. What I had done

  379. It's part of his fatherhood. It's not a nasty streak. It is just measuring evaluating how you did

  380. And each of us has different things to do I think I told you the story of a pastor who

  381. Went out with his wife and told his daughter that he wanted

  382. The

  383. Her bedroom

  384. To be tidy when they came back and so he goes and he comes back and as they drive back to their home

  385. They amazed the lawn is mowed

  386. The step in and the living room has been vacuumed

  387. They go to the kitchen. She's washed all the dishes

  388. They go up to their room and all the papers that were lying have been stacked

  389. carefully, and they are overjoyed and they

  390. Want to avoid the daughter and they go knock her in her room and want to say such a job well done

  391. And there she is in her room, and it's a mess nothing has been tidy

  392. And the dad withdraws this is an actual story that happened he relates it and he says I withdrew and I said

  393. I'm so sorry. I so want to commend you

  394. For all the other things you did and yet the one thing that I asked that was what I asked of you

  395. You left undone

  396. This is when we will still enter heaven

  397. By the same time that we are going to be able to see the truth

  398. And then we will still enter heaven

  399. By the seat of our pants

  400. But what we have built will be tested with fire and some of us will build with gold silver diamonds

  401. some with hay and straw

  402. This is why as you approach 2014

  403. Even though god does not work necessarily in chronological years

  404. Find out about what what what is the bedroom you want me to tidy and i'll put my heart to it

  405. Because there is a facing god that happens there is

  406. 1st john 2 28 and now little children

  407. Abide in him so that when he appears we may have confidence

  408. Not to shrink from him in shame at his coming and now little children

  409. So these are the children of god these are ones that are saved now little children abide in him so that

  410. When he appears we may have confidence not to shrink from him

  411. In shame at his coming. I know I told you this story

  412. So i'll shorten it and quickly say I was at a bible camp the team that I was leading won

  413. Because we had 90 points and the team after us had 82 points or thereabouts

  414. But if you didn't have your badge on you would lose 10 points

  415. And i'm the leader of this group of young kids and they've worked very hard

  416. We win the cup and they're going up to get the cup and I realized that I don't have a

  417. Badge I lost my badge and I know that if they see the entire group will lose 10 points and we'll come second

  418. So they call up the kids for the cup and they have a whole lot of

  419. And hurrah and medals for each one the only one who

  420. Did not go up to receive nothing was me with my jacket

  421. Zipped up right till here stifling

  422. But not willing to pull my zipper down because I know that if they see that I don't have a bag

  423. The team will suffer so the only guy who did not participate

  424. The team will suffer so the only guy who did not participate in the medals in the trophy in the thing and he was scared

  425. To even stand in a picture

  426. Was me

  427. Oh, and yet we won

  428. Won john 228 and now little children abide in him so that when he appears we may have confidence and not shrink back in shame

  429. At his coming

  430. We will be there and yet may it not be said that rob you didn't do all that you were supposed to do jacob

  431. Preached every sunday, but still didn't do what I was supposed to do

  432. May that not happen

  433. What is the fear of the lord thirdly

  434. Or fourthly or whatever

  435. It's the scandalous weight

  436. Of someone of supreme worth dying for me. It's the scandalous weight

  437. It's the scandalous weight of someone of supreme words dying for me. You know, there was a will smith movie

  438. I'm not recommending this movie. I'm just telling you there was a will smith movie

  439. Called seven pounds

  440. And in this movie

  441. Will smith for reasons that the movie explains in the beginning is

  442. Slowly donating his organs to different people so that they may live

  443. So he takes out

  444. A kidney and gives it to somebody he takes out a lung

  445. He gives it to somebody else and in the end there are these two people one needs an eye and one needs a heart

  446. And so he literally

  447. commits suicide

  448. And as he's dying

  449. He calls 911

  450. And he says i'll be dead in four or five minutes

  451. Come quickly so that you can harvest my heart and my eyes

  452. And he helped seven people that way

  453. And

  454. In the end you see these people meeting at an event and this lady who's got a new heart looks at this guy

  455. Who's got a new set of eyes

  456. and this lady knew him and as she's looking into his eyes, she says I know those eyes because

  457. Those were eyes of

  458. Her friend but it's this union of six or seven people who have received different organs from him over a period of time

  459. And they owe him everything

  460. Because they are alive today. They see today they breathe today. They're able to operate today because someone else

  461. Scandalously gave up organs even while they're living and then killed himself so that some two others could live

  462. The premise is not necessarily christian, but the point is there is a scandalous weight

  463. Of responsibilities from the other person

  464. Of responsibility sometimes

  465. when I think of the one who is of the greatest most supreme worth in the universe laying down his life so that I may live

  466. and there is now

  467. this dread of offending the father I love because of how

  468. I now lift up my hands with and heart recklessly abandoned to

  469. I stand with arms high and heart abandoned in awe of the one who

  470. laid it all

  471. gave it all

  472. I stand my soul lord to you surrendered all I am is yours

  473. same principle

  474. the scandalous weight of what he did

  475. Amazing thing this fear of the lord is guys in proverbs 16

  476. 6 and proverbs 8 13 it says the fear of the lord is required to turn away from evil

  477. Ha ha

  478. It's almost impossible to turn away from evil unless you love the father and you can only love the father by

  479. Recognizing how much he loves me so therefore upgrade your perception of the father quickly so that you understand

  480. Enter 2014 as a brand new person and you live a life that dreads offending the father you love

  481. Another scripture says that proverbs 9 10 and psalm 110 111 10 says the fear of god

  482. Opens my life to wisdom and what is wisdom wisdom is the sum total of all of god's instructions the sum total of all of god's instructions

  483. The wisdom of god is open to me when I have

  484. Fear that is born out of love for god

  485. His instructions now are not rules. It's this thing. I desire

  486. I'm like a minor panning for gold more wisdom about wanna see wanna see why because I desire it does it is

  487. to eat about

  488. That's a Greek word too

  489. Try it

  490. The other great thing is guys when you cultivate the fear of god

  491. A strange thing happens

  492. The enemies of god are afraid of you because the fear of the lord falls upon them and that fear is a different fear

  493. So

  494. In second chronicle 17 10 it says when people walk in the fear of the lord the fear of the lord falls upon the kingdoms around

  495. And they made no war against jahoshaphat

  496. Acts chapter 2 talks about it and great fear

    Acts 2 chapter mention

  497. on one hand the disciples gathered and they broke bread had fellowship indulged in prayers and

  498. Followed the apostle's doctrine as they did that

  499. They began to enjoy god and as they began to grow in the fear of the lord strange thing happened

  500. On the rest of the city the fear of the lord fell and that was not the fear that was as in

  501. Let's not mess with these guys

  502. Yeah

  503. So there there is a dread that of

  504. That's not like offending the father that you love and then there is a dread of jacob which is leave that nation alone

  505. They have the lord of

  506. god of israel walking amongst them

  507. There is this falsehood which we have decimated many times and we decimate again today that the closer you get to god

  508. The less room the devil has

  509. There is no truth to the statement that when you get close to god the devil attacks you more not true

  510. Falsehood that is

  511. Let's look at two more verses

  512. I love this some 25 12 to 14 some 25 12 to 14

  513. Some 25 12 to 14

  514. Look at this man

  515. If any man fears the lord

  516. He shall be

  517. Shown

  518. The path

  519. That

  520. He should

  521. Choose

  522. He shall enjoy

  523. Lasting prosperity

  524. And

  525. So on the lord will confide his purpose

  526. And his covenant

  527. Is theirs to know

  528. Why am I writing this whole thing just to illustrate how important this is if anyone fears the lord

  529. He shall be shown the path

  530. He shall

  531. Enjoy lasting prosperity

  532. The lord shall confide his purpose

  533. And he shall make his covenant theirs to know

  534. Amazing

  535. Amazing

  536. Um must be an ivy

  537. Confide as in hey

  538. Mariam jeff, I need to talk to you guys. I want to do something at acts 29

  539. I just need your opinion on it and I need your help with it because I really think

  540. There's something that god wants us to do

  541. So can I talk to you about this and tell you about it and I want to hear what you have to say about it

  542. And I tell nobody else in this church except you and jeff

  543. And so i'm confiding as in i'm telling you a purpose that I want done but i'm telling only you

  544. It's it's because I

  545. There's this

  546. Friendship there's this potential that god sees that he begins to confide in you abraham becomes his friend

  547. confiding purpose

  548. Think of all these things that happen

  549. Fascinating and what's response? How does all this happen through the fear of the lord?

  550. Through the fear of the lord

  551. Shows me his path you want god to show you his path get into the fear of the lord

  552. Which is born out of love and which is the fear of offending the father you love want to enjoy lasting prosperity

  553. Want to have him

  554. Wake you up in the middle of the night saying son. I want to talk to you about something

  555. I want to do on the earth gosh just think of that

  556. The god of the universe just woke you up

  557. Because he wants to talk to you about a purpose. He wants to bring to pass here on earth

  558. Ridiculous man, but it's true

  559. And then his covenant his agreement is theirs to know greater understanding of this agreement

  560. Like you'd say oh jacob there are 20 pages of

  561. Disclaimers and footnotes let me explain them to you and he begins to explain it

  562. Guys how does this all happen to the fear of god?

  563. I invite you to

  564. Unfortunately every teaching I keep saying this is so important because it is I wish I could say this one is the most important

  565. Yeah, but this is so

  566. Fundamental man, you can step into things with this

  567. Proverbs 34 9

  568. Fear the lord all you his holy people for those who fear him lack nothing

  569. Do you have lack in your life? We all do at different points in our lives

  570. Fear the lord all you his holy people for those who fear him lack nothing

  571. Proverbs 34 9

  572. Psalm 34 9 sorry

  573. Psalm 34 9 fear the lord all you his holy people for those who fear him lack nothing

  574. So at the end of the day guys how do you sustain

  575. The fear of the lord remember it's a fear born out of love that dreads offending the father

  576. So fall in love

  577. How by correcting your perception of god

  578. May I suggest to you that one way you can fall in love with one way you can correct your perception of god

  579. And then you can correct your perception of god

  580. The way you can correct your perception of god is by hanging out with people who have a better perception of god than you presently have

  581. I challenged people on monday night. I said to them you want to know the father better come and hang out with us

  582. Find time and instead of sitting at home

  583. Find time come and say want to spend time with you

  584. Because you have a perception of god that I do not have and it begins to rub off guys

  585. Because how I see god is how I see myself and how I live my life

  586. So if you have a perception of god that is greater than I as I live with you

  587. It is impossible to escape your perception of god

  588. Impossible it will upgrade my estimation of him

  589. I will tell you how wonderful emirates is as an airline

  590. And I'll convince you to fly emirates at some point and i've done that to a few of you

  591. Why

  592. Because you begin to speak of the things that you hold in high esteem

  593. And you begin to dis that when which you hold in low esteem like the maple leaves and stuff like that

  594. Low esteem like the maple leaves and stuff like that

  595. As in the syrup i'm talking about the syrup

  596. What did you think

  597. Oh, you're wearing that sweatshirt too. Oh, that is not good chris. She didn't mean it jason

  598. Okay, well then it's the other maple leaves

  599. I'm

  600. Yeah, no, no, I hear you i'm just trying to formulate an answer here here's my answer to

  601. Isn't fear dark like the heathen they're not afraid of here's my here's my answer to your question

  602. One when I talk about upgrading our perception of god, it's not a touchy feely thing

  603. It is knowing the nature of god. Let me give you an example

  604. There's nothing touchy feely about me and jason

  605. I think i've told him I

  606. love him twice

  607. That's about it in the last three years and that too I said it in such a way that it was not touchy feely at all

  608. but

  609. In the time that I spend with him. He's getting to know my nature and i'm getting to know his nature

  610. And it's got nothing to do with emotions, but it's an understanding of

  611. The nature of this person and therefore my perception of jason is changing and his perception of me is changing

  612. So first of all when I talk about upgrading our perception of god as a loving father

  613. It has nothing to do with touchy feely

  614. When touchy feely comes I love it, but it has got nothing to do with it

  615. secondly

  616. The story of ananis and safira falls into the

  617. Part I said when I said that our god is a jealous consuming fire

  618. and therefore

  619. He will torch the things that need to be burnt

  620. And will clean the house and in that instance

  621. He was not being nasty to ananis and safira because we see death as nasty for him. It's a removal from one plane to the other

  622. But it was a cleaning of a fledgling church

  623. Which would have been corrupted by what was happening had it spread because it had the nature of contaminating sin

  624. And therefore they were removed

  625. Which is why I said that when god is consuming fire and I continuously

  626. resist

  627. The torching of areas in my life that need to change god says come home son

  628. You are not going to change you i've spent years you've resisted me

  629. I can't do anything with your free will but you did exert your free will to receive me into

  630. Your life so come home

  631. And in an instant as I die i'm transformed in soul

  632. To perfection and my spirit is perfect anyways, and I live with him now

  633. So that's how I would answer you

  634. Like make it grow you better build it just so

  635. God's not gonna hit you when you make a mistake

  636. That is a large aspect

  637. That is a large aspect

  638. Everything in my life changes according to the perception of god that I have and my perception changes through the word

  639. Through the work of the spirit and through the ones that I associate with

  640. This is vital guys

  641. Three things that change my perception of god what the holy spirit does because he changes people

  642. The word of god which gives me a correct understanding and three the people that I associate with

  643. Please for me I I had the wrong

  644. Yeah

  645. Yeah, and that's the work of the spirit of god

  646. Marianna loves me but there is he may not believe that but if Marianna says it to him

  647. It's different. Yeah

  648. And that's the work of the spirit

  649. Yeah, and the spirit of god is so willing to do that. Remember James says that the spirit of god yearns over you

  650. jealously

  651. What a beautiful word the spirit of god yearns over you jacob

  652. Jealously the same jealousy that the father has the spirit of god has over me

  653. He wants me to know the father's love he'll do that

  654. and

  655. This is not

  656. Easy life this is

  657. God life

  658. It's god life it's not easy life it's god life

  659. I would suggest to you living out there and getting these things is much easier

  660. How do you sustain this

  661. one by correcting your perception of the father so that you can you can you can

  662. You can live in the dread of offending the father you love and two

  663. Proverbs 2 1 to 6 talks about it

  664. Proverbs 2 1 to 6 it says that if you receive my word

  665. If you treasure my commandment

  666. If you call out for insight

  667. You will understand that you will understand

  668. You will understand the fear of the lord gosh if you receive my word

  669. If you treasure my commandments

  670. David got the hang of it

  671. How can a man keep himself pure? How can he keep his way straight by cherishing your law?

  672. If you receive my word receive with meekness receive with the quality of hearing that is outstanding

  673. When you receive the word where you treasure

  674. His commandments and where you ask or call out or cry out for insight

  675. Then you will understand the fear of the lord when you combine that with

  676. this

  677. Dread of offending the father you love

  678. That's greek too

  679. David said in psalm 86 teach me your way o lord so I may walk in your truth

  680. Unite my heart

  681. To fear your name

  682. Bless you guys. Let's break bread as you break bread as we break bread

  683. I want us to do man. We are so doing well for time

  684. As we break bread, uh, and you take bread and go

  685. I want you to take one of these scriptures from this

  686. i've got

  687. verses written in this I want you to take one of these verses

  688. and throughout this week

  689. I want you to break this verse down

  690. and meditate on it

  691. Chew on it

  692. Let it change your thinking because much of it has to do with either the nature of god or what god wants for you

  693. Come so many people were inside there

  694. Wow

  695. When i'm done you can you can stop it now, thanks
