  1. So, we've been talking about unseen realm, and one of the things that happens in the

  2. unseen and does not manifest until much later is this idea of things that we sow that reap

  3. a harvest.

  4. And I think there's a phrase that goes this way, that there's a forest in an acorn.

  5. And so, I think it was Michelangelo who once said that he saw an angel in the marble and

  6. carved until he set it free.

  7. And so, there is this idea of you give someone a chunk of marble and you don't know what

  8. it might turn out to be, and then he begins to carve it because he saw an angel in the

  9. marble and he set it free.

  10. Or you take an acorn and it looks so tiny, and yet in an acorn is a forest because an

  11. to a tree which gives birth to many acorns and that's how forests are formed.

  12. And so, there is this unseen realm that just gestates within us, but it starts with the

  13. idea of a seed that we plant that at some point manifests.

  14. And if you go to Galatians chapter 6, verse 7 and 8, God puts it this way.

    Galatians 6:7

  15. He says,

  16. If you sow to the flesh, you reap corruption, you reap ruin, you reap destruction.

  17. If you sow to the spirit, you reap life.

  18. And so, the Bible indicates again and again and again that there are two destinations

  19. for seed and there are two harvests.

  20. And so, when it says sowing to the flesh, it means if I sow into the traditions of men,

  21. if I sow into the patterns of the world, if I sow into sin, if I sow into desire outside

  22. of God, then it will result in decay, it will result in corruption, it will result in loss.

  23. But then I can also sow into the traditions of men, and I sow into the patterns of the

  24. world. But then I can also sow to the spirit, and if I sow to the spirit, as in if I sow

  25. righteousness, if I sow principles from the word, if I sow what I hear him say, if I sow

  26. his ways, then it results in abundant life. And what does abundant life look like? It

  27. looks like shalom plus rest plus vision plus profit. That's what abundant life is.

  28. What does abundant life look like? Abundant life is this mixture of shalom or wholeness

  29. of rest where there's very little flailing of vision so that our people don't perish,

  30. of profit or increase. It captures the essence of what God said to Adam when he said multiply,

  31. replenish, subdue. That's what abundant life looks like.

  32. And what we don't realize is that each of us is a carrier of seed, and you're always

  33. sowing unknowingly or knowingly. You're always sowing. You're a carrier of seed. Every day

  34. of your life you are sowing, either knowingly or unknowingly you are sowing, and you're

  35. a carrier of seed. Very often the tongue is the spade, the tongue is the spade, and your

  36. words are seed. Very often the tongue is the spade, and your words are seed. Proverbs

  37. 18-21 talks about how a man shall live by what he speaks. He either speaks death or

  38. he speaks life, and based on how he speaks, he eats. So your tongue is your spade, and

  39. your words are seed that you sow. Or as it says in Proverbs 23, verse 7, as a man thinks,

    Proverbs 23:7

  40. so is he. So in that sense your thoughts and attitudes are seed that you plant knowingly

  41. or unknowingly. Throughout the day we are doing this knowingly or unknowingly. If we

  42. don't put it into words, we put it into thoughts, and our thoughts then begin to shape our attitude.

  43. I know you've all either heard this or read this, but sow a thought and you will reap

  44. an action. Sow a thought often enough and it always reaps an action. Sow an action long

  45. enough and it will always reap a habit. Sow a habit long enough and it will always reap

  46. a character. Sow a character long enough and you will always reap a destiny. Eddie used

  47. to say a man of choices is a man of destiny. As in the choices you make with the thoughts

  48. and the actions and the habits that you cultivate is what causes you then to reap a destiny.

  49. So I am the way I am today because of the things that I have sown. And I didn't mean

  50. that in a positive way. I meant if there are negative ways in my life today, they are the

  51. result of what I have sown. And there are positive things too, but when I just said

  52. it, I meant gosh man, many of us could be so different if we had been taught how to

  53. sow right. And the thing is guys, every seed has its body. Every seed has its own body.

  54. 1 Corinthians 15.30 it says that every seed has its own body. As in it produces different

  55. things. I mean, now that TNT market is right under my home, I occasionally read a book

  56. and I venture into TNT. It's a scary place. But I'm fascinated by just the apples there, man.

  57. Like you would think that there's an apple seed and it brings apples. No, there's pink

  58. lady, there's granny, there's red delicious, there is golden. There is even something called

  59. envy. And those are really good and the most expensive. If that had dropped on Isaac Newton's

  60. head, we wouldn't have had the law of gravity because it would have killed him. Because

  61. it's that big and super expensive. But if an apple can produce six different varieties

  62. and then there's the most expensive one, the iPhone, but that's a whole different story.

  63. It is a little funny. You could have at least grinned. Okay, it was corny. Okay, moving on.

  64. So I planned that so elaborately for the last 20 minutes and got nothing for it. Okay,

  65. moving on. So every seed has a body produces something. And therefore, guys, here's the

  66. thing. Every time you saw a thought, every time you saw words, every time you saw an

  67. attitude that comes from God, it will produce an amazing bountiful harvest. By the same

  68. token, every time you saw something to the flesh, as in the traditions of men, sin,

  69. pleasing the desires of the body that are outside of God, all human philosophies and so

  70. on, every time you saw it, you will reap ruin, corruption, loss. And the Bible puts

  71. it simply this way, do not be deceived. God is not mocked. It then goes to say that

  72. breakthrough or break ins, break ins are not the same thing. They are not the same thing.

  73. It then goes to say that breakthrough or break ins break ins as in when Satan breaks in or

  74. breakthroughs as in when you break out into the things of God breakthroughs and break ins happen

  75. through what you saw through the seed that you saw, you can either saw into problems or you can

  76. saw yourself out of problems. I would go so far as to say this in a way that sounds ungodly. Some of

  77. the situations that I am in, I can get out of without even praying by sowing the right seed.

  78. Meaning it's okay if you prayed for it, but some of it you can get out of even without praying

  79. because you're inserting a principle of God that can get you out. By the same token, I can also get

  80. into situations without the devil's help. You know one of the things God desired, can we remove

  81. him from the overhead? There's only so much of chat I can handle. Thanks Ryan. Oh he's back.

  82. Thanks. I've got to spend three days with him starting tomorrow. Guys, I'm going to

  83. go ahead and say a few words about the things that I've been doing. I've been doing

  84. I've been doing things for God. Oh he's back. Thanks. I've got to spend three days with him starting tomorrow.

  85. Guys, yeah I can handle that. Guys, God had this idea of divine self governance

  86. and what he means by divine self governance and that's what he really desired for Israel.

  87. He said, hey can you self govern yourself? I'll give you a set of principles.

  88. You don't need a king or a president or a prime minister.

  89. Can you self-govern yourself based on the set of principles

  90. that I derive from my nature that you can participate in?

  91. That was his intent, self-governance.

  92. Subin would be such a happy dad if his son Daniel

  93. could learn at an early age how to self-govern himself

  94. in the ways of God and in the ways of his parents

  95. without the need for a stick or a reward

  96. because that is the way one was supposed to live.

  97. That is why God put his spirit within us.

  98. He says it in Ezekiel and he says it again

  99. in the New Testament where he says,

  100. I replace the heart of stone with the heart of flesh

  101. so that you may know my laws.

  102. No one will have to teach them to you.

  103. They'll be written on your heart and mind.

  104. And so one of the ways we can enter into this whole idea

  105. of divine self-governance is by determining

  106. what do I sow so that I get a godly harvest in my life?

  107. And the great thing about a godly harvest

  108. is every time you have a godly harvest,

  109. others benefit from it.

  110. And then the flip side is every time you have

  111. an ungodly harvest, people are affected.

  112. When you have a godly harvest, people benefit.

  113. When you have an ungodly harvest, people are affected.

  114. None of the things that I do in my life

  115. that are ungodly will not translate into this church.

  116. Everything that I do that is ungodly will affect the church.

  117. And you would think, well, then you're of the past

  118. so naturally, no, what about Achan?

  119. Achan at I, Israel lost the battle because of Achan.

  120. This whole thing called the family

  121. is not some utopian idea in the head of God.

  122. This was in his mind,

  123. we are actually limbs connected together.

  124. He really thinks you're a part of my life

  125. and I'm a part of your life

  126. and we are a part of Christ's life

  127. and Christ is a part of God's life.

  128. He thinks like this.

  129. Any questions before we go on?

  130. So many things in life you can weed out or garden

  131. in your life by following these simple principles.

  132. You can either weed it out or garden

  133. so that your landscape looks so different.

  134. We'll talk about that now.

  135. Any questions?

  136. I hope this church won't be a place

  137. this church won't be a bunch of Christians

  138. who are on either extreme

  139. because churches usually post themselves on two extremes

  140. where it's super legalistic

  141. and by legalistic, I mean, what did I do wrong?

  142. Or the other end, which is super chief grace,

  143. which is, how can I,

  144. this wrong doesn't matter.

  145. These are the two extremes that churches find themselves in.

  146. Either what did I do wrong?

  147. What's God gonna do?

  148. What opening have I given the devil?

  149. How is it gonna end now?

  150. So that's one extreme.

  151. The other extreme is wrong is nothing

  152. because the grace of God covers everything.

  153. Both are extreme.

  154. I pray that we land somewhere in the middle

  155. where we understand that what you sow, you reap.

  156. And we also understand that grace is poured out on me

  157. when I have done wrong, that it's not one or the other.

  158. It's both operating together.

  159. Both have to be held in tension.

  160. They are not contradictory.

  161. That I do sow what I reap, but thank God I don't reap

  162. all that I sow because of the grace of God

  163. that just comes in sometimes like a whirlwind

  164. and just sweeps the seeds away

  165. or comes in like amazing rain and produces a crop

  166. that I haven't worked hard enough to harvest.

  167. That is the idea of grace.

  168. Either it removes that which is harmful

  169. or adds that which I have not earned.

  170. But any of these extremes will paralyze us.

  171. One of the things I like doing is whenever things go wrong

  172. in my life, before I pray, I'd like to find out

  173. if there's anything that I can sow

  174. that will either correct it or anything I can weed out

  175. so that it doesn't become a tear

  176. that will be indistinguishable from the wheat.

  177. So it's good to ask these questions early

  178. before you even pray.

  179. And then you can pray and ask God to help you.

  180. But it's a great method.

  181. We do it in every other area of life,

  182. but for too long the church has told us

  183. that God is so gracious we don't need to do this.

  184. Or the church has told us God's gonna punish you

  185. because you did this.

  186. It's one or the other.

  187. Ministries are based on these.

  188. You either have a ministry that says

  189. if you don't get rid of these roots, you're finished.

  190. Or you have ministries that say,

  191. oh, don't worry about it, grace covers everything.

  192. It's neither, it's both.

  193. One of the things I love about the New Testament

  194. is when it says God does not reckon sins against us.

  195. Every time I go to him, a pastor may reckon your sin

  196. as you come up for prayer saying,

  197. I know what she has done, da da da da da.

  198. God doesn't reckon your sins first.

  199. He sees you with grace and then he deals with your sin.

  200. He doesn't see your sin first

  201. and then deal with your situation.

  202. Very different God, eh?

  203. Any questions before we go on?

  204. Whenever there are situations in my life

  205. that I think I need help with,

  206. the first thing I check is,

  207. is there anything I can weed out

  208. so that the situation will not continue?

  209. Or is there anything I can sow

  210. so that this situation will perpetuate profitably?

  211. And so many times things end so easily without prayer

  212. because I find out what needs to be found out.

  213. And the way you find it out is by asking God

  214. or by just sometimes examining your life.

  215. Husbands and wives do this.

  216. We got zero problem.

  217. Usually wives are more inscrutable than God.

  218. And yet husbands will go through a list of things

  219. that they think could be the reason

  220. why their wife is upset.

  221. And nine out of 10 times they get it right

  222. because they fixed all the things that they went through.

  223. And everything is okay.

  224. Much more so with God who is absolutely readable.

  225. He's not inscrutable.

  226. He's not nebulous.

  227. He doesn't speak in riddles.

  228. Okay.

  229. So when, I'm gonna call them carnal seeds,

  230. as in seeds of the flesh

  231. or seeds that bring out a harvest that is corrupt

  232. or that will result in loss or decay.

  233. And we all have, there's nobody here who doesn't have them.

  234. We have them in different areas.

  235. I have, when I was going through this,

  236. when I was writing down this list,

  237. I was thinking to myself, my God,

  238. you've had all of them at some point in your life.

  239. So all of them are present in this room

  240. in different capacities.

  241. The thing is to make sure that we get rid of them.

  242. So when carnal seeds are sown,

  243. the great thing is God mitigates,

  244. as in he steps in and prevents it

  245. from becoming the kind of harvest that it could become.

  246. God mitigates, God intervenes, God weeds out,

  247. and God smothers the harvest.

  248. So when carnal seeds are sown,

  249. the God of grace mitigates, intervenes,

  250. smothers the seed,

  251. and weeds it out before it can get deep roots

  252. and produce toxic harvest.

  253. So God is anyways working at it.

  254. If we were to actually reap everything we sowed,

  255. we'd be dead by now.

  256. Thank God that's not the way it works,

  257. because he's an amazing gardener

  258. and he takes ownership of his garden,

  259. meaning you, me.

  260. Satan, on the other hand,

  261. contaminates,

  262. plants,

  263. supplies,

  264. seed,

  265. through,

  266. I'm talking about carnal seed,

  267. through friends,

  268. systems of the world,

  269. through giving you your essential desires

  270. or giving you a way to satisfy them,

  271. through the bait of immediate gratification,

  272. because that is something he loves providing.

  273. If you can covet or desire something,

  274. or lust after something,

  275. the devil has a desire to provide you

  276. what you want gratification in.

  277. Or he contaminates plants and supplies carnal seed

  278. through your past experiences,

  279. through pain,

  280. through fear,

  281. where knowing that you have had a traumatic experience,

  282. knowing that you were betrayed,

  283. knowing that trust was broken,

  284. knowing that you were hurt,

  285. now he supplies you seed

  286. that will perpetuate that carnality.

  287. And by carnality,

  288. you are not going to get anything

  289. from that carnality.

  290. And by carnality,

  291. all I mean is that which is not of the spirit,

  292. and that will bring more loss, more decay,

  293. and more corruption,

  294. and nothing that will give you life.

  295. Satan provides that.

  296. And he does it through friends,

  297. it does it through the systems of the world,

  298. does it through human philosophies,

  299. does it through our parents,

  300. does it through sometimes churches.

  301. So what happens is once these seeds are planted,

  302. they can become intertwined,

  303. as in more than one seed intertwined and deeply rooted.

  304. And once they are deeply rooted,

  305. that's when they manifest.

  306. So something like say jealousy,

  307. let's assume I'm jealous.

  308. And so let's assume instead of combating it

  309. or countering it with other ways that the spirit provides,

  310. I keep walking that path of jealousy,

  311. it gets to a point where jealousy can combine with envy,

  312. can combine with bitterness,

  313. can combine with unforgiveness,

  314. and now they are intertwined and they get deeply rooted

  315. because I'm beginning to delve into it,

  316. dive into it, not pull myself out of it.

  317. And as it gets deeply rooted,

  318. it begins to manifest,

  319. as in you will begin to see it in my life.

  320. The thing with seed is, like I said,

  321. the forest is in the acorn.

  322. It has to fall to the ground.

  323. It takes time to develop.

  324. And that is when you and I can call out to the father

  325. and say, father, I'm your son, I'm your daughter.

  326. I'm struggling with this, help me.

  327. What do you think David would do in the Psalms?

  328. What was one of the reasons he wrote the Psalms?

  329. He didn't read it so that we read it in the Bible later.

  330. He wrote it because he wanted to get it out of his system.

  331. Oh God, look at what they have done to me.

  332. I want them to suffer.

  333. I want this to happen to them.

  334. I want that to happen to them.

  335. But oh God, you are good.

  336. It was this lament that he would write

  337. that would turn from lament and anger

  338. to love and purity and worship.

  339. So once it gets deeply rooted, it begins to manifest.

  340. The good news is that you don't have

  341. to let the roots develop.

  342. The good news is you don't have to let the roots develop.

  343. And all of us know as it begins to develop.

  344. Like I know when I am struggling with a certain way of thinking

  345. or I'm struggling with an issue, I know it.

  346. And I can either try to suppress it and say,

  347. oh Jesus, take it away.

  348. Or I can have a conversation with God

  349. so that he can help me weed it out.

  350. My God, he's so good at it.

  351. He's so good at it.

  352. To weed it out.

  353. I remember telling the church a story long ago

  354. where I was really bitter about this other pastor

  355. who I thought was getting unnecessary accolades

  356. even though I knew his life was hollow.

  357. I was sitting there thinking to myself,

  358. Father, how can you do this?

  359. You know the guy's life.

  360. And he's sitting there being such a hypocrite

  361. and you're doing nothing.

  362. And I was so bitter and jealous

  363. about what was happening with him.

  364. And I was complaining to the Lord about it.

  365. The next morning at about eight o'clock, God wakes me up

  366. because that's when he wakes me up.

  367. And he wakes me up and he says,

  368. I've got something exciting to show you in the Bible.

  369. And I'm thinking to myself,

  370. some great revelation is gonna come my way.

  371. And that this will be a profound moment in my life

  372. that God will show me the future.

  373. So I said, yes, Lord.

  374. And then he gives me this particular chapter to go read.

  375. And I'm thinking to myself, hallelujah.

  376. And I go read it.

  377. And it's this passage where it says,

  378. and the women came out and sang,

  379. Saul has killed thousands, David has killed 10,000,

  380. and Saul felt jealous.

  381. And I'm thinking to myself, this is what you woke me up for?

  382. You woke me up because you wanted to correct me.

  383. And yet that is the kind of father we have

  384. who is willing to wake you up excitedly

  385. because he wants to remove weeds from your life

  386. so that you can be the garden he wants you to be.

  387. I was deeply thankful, little disappointed,

  388. but deeply thankful for his willingness to do that with me.

  389. So the good news is he can weed it out.

  390. The bad news is that strongholds, once they develop,

  391. once things get intertwined and deeply rooted,

  392. they become strongholds.

  393. And once strongholds develop,

  394. they become the hideout of the demonic.

  395. Demons hide in strongholds.

  396. Let me give you an example.

  397. Let's assume you have a room in a house

  398. and in that room there's nothing.

  399. And then you begin to stack these wooden crates,

  400. one after the other.

  401. Every time you get a crate or a cardboard box,

  402. you stack it in the room and it just begins to pile up.

  403. And then one day you find that the snake

  404. has been able to get into the room.

  405. And now you can't catch the snake

  406. because every time you go and try to get that snake,

  407. it goes behind the cardboard boxes

  408. or slithers under a wooden crate.

  409. Now, if the room was empty,

  410. it would be easy to get that snake.

  411. But now that you have these wooden crates

  412. and cardboard boxes that I've collected,

  413. every time you wanna go grab that snake or kill it,

  414. the snake disappears behind a crate

  415. or disappears behind these cardboard boxes

  416. that have been stacked there for now months on end.

  417. The only way now that you can get to that snake

  418. and kill it without being harmed

  419. is by removing the cardboard boxes and the wooden crates.

  420. This is what is meant when I say that,

  421. if these seeds that we sow

  422. are allowed to become strongholds,

  423. then they become places that the demonic can hide.

  424. Any questions?

  425. Through the simple word, at the end of the day,

  426. every stronghold is dismantled through the word

  427. and the spirit.

  428. Every stronghold is dismantled by the word and the spirit.

  429. The weapons that we fight with are not carnal,

  430. but are spiritual for the pulling down of strongholds.

  431. And what are strongholds?

  432. Reasonings, thoughts, arguments, imaginations,

  433. and every lofty thing that raises itself up

  434. against the knowledge of God,

  435. to take them captive and bring them into submission

  436. and to be able to do that.

  437. To take them captive

  438. and bring them into submission to the Lord.

  439. How do you do it?

  440. Only with the word.

  441. And the spirit of God begins to work with the word.

  442. As in when I read that passage,

  443. it was not that I didn't know the passage,

  444. but in that passage,

  445. what happens immediately after Saul becomes jealous,

  446. is that the distressing spirit that had already left

  447. because David had played the harp,

  448. returns the very next day.

  449. I'm reading that word thinking,

  450. Father, the last thing I wanna do is waste my time

  451. getting jealous of someone who is perhaps faithful to you.

  452. And the last thing I wanna do is get jealous

  453. and have distressing spirits come into my life.

  454. No, thank you.

  455. It's not worth it.

  456. And this is a person I don't even know well.

  457. The amount of time we waste on people we don't know.

  458. That didn't come out right, but you know what I mean.

  459. So guys, learn the mechanics of how to go about this.

  460. This list is by no means conclusive.

  461. You can keep adding to this list.

  462. If you read the book of Proverbs,

  463. you'll find hundreds of cause and effect equations

  464. where, so this, read this, so this, read this.

  465. Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Isaiah,

  466. they have so many different equations like this.

  467. Life can become just principle-based

  468. and you can use faith for other things.

  469. Learn it, because once you do,

  470. God gives you the keys for weeding your life

  471. and watering it, both your physical life

  472. and your spiritual life.

  473. Any questions?

  474. Because I wanna go into the seed itself.

  475. Today, we'll only be able to do the carnal seeds

  476. and then next Sunday we'll do the life seeds.

  477. Any questions?

  478. Okay.

  479. So, first one is doing nothing.

  480. Doing nothing.

  481. Doing nothing is a seed.

  482. Doing nothing is the seed for decay or deterioration.

  483. Doing nothing is the seed for decay

  484. or things deteriorating.

  485. Doing nothing.

  486. Doing nothing unless commanded.

  487. The only time you do nothing

  488. is God tells you to do nothing,

  489. as when he told Joshua, I don't want you to do anything,

  490. I just want you to walk around the city once

  491. and then go do whatever soldiers do after they walk.

  492. And doing nothing unless commanded

  493. is the seed for decay and deterioration.

  494. Go to Ecclesiastes 10, 18.

  495. Sometimes what I read might depend on the version,

  496. so I'll try to give you the version.

  497. Ecclesiastes 10, 18.

  498. Ecclesiastes 10, 18.

  499. If a man is lazy, the rafters sag.

  500. If his hands are idle, the house leaks.

  501. If a man is lazy, the rafters sag.

  502. If his hands are idle, the house leaks.

  503. Sometimes we do nothing just based on the simple thing

  504. that God will take care of it.

  505. Unless God has told me to do nothing,

  506. I must do what I have been initially told to

  507. and continue with it.

  508. Otherwise it ends up with the rafters sagging

  509. and things decaying or deteriorating.

  510. Doesn't matter whether it's with regard to a job

  511. or whether it's regard to marriage

  512. or whether it's regard to something spiritual.

  513. I must do what I was last told to do

  514. and continue doing it till God gives me something new.

  515. Just this morning I was going over

  516. what God has asked me to do at the beginning of the year.

  517. Just wanted to go over it

  518. because I haven't received any new directions,

  519. so I just have to keep doing what I was told

  520. at the beginning of the year.

  521. Next one.

  522. After three, I'll go over three and then I'll stop

  523. and you can ask questions.

  524. Next one, gossip.

  525. Gossip is a seed for strife.

  526. Gossip is a seed for strife.

  527. Gossip is a seed for strife.

  528. What does gossip look like?

  529. Gossip looks like defaming someone, spreading rumors,

  530. being someone who mocked someone behind their back,

  531. speaking ill of someone.

  532. It's not a woman thing, it's a man thing too.

  533. I used to think only women do that,

  534. but it's so not true.

  535. Gossip is a seed for strife.

  536. One of the ways you can dismiss strife from a place

  537. is by casting out the scoffer.

  538. The Bible says in Proverbs 21, verse nine,

  539. that throw out the scoffer, or verse 10,

  540. throw out the scoffer and strife will end.

  541. Sometimes the easiest way to cause strife

  542. in any situation to end

  543. is to dismiss the scoffer or the mocker.

  544. One is scoffs.

  545. And who is one who scoffs?

  546. In Proverbs 22, it says a scoffer

  547. is a proud and arrogant man.

  548. And so once you dismiss the scoffer, strife ends.

  549. But gossip is the seed for strife.

  550. So one of the ways you can end strife in your life

  551. is by ending gossip.

  552. Proverbs 18, verse eight.

  553. Proverbs 18, verse eight.

  554. Proverbs 18, verse eight.

  555. The words of a gossip are like choice morsels.

  556. They go down to a man's inmost being.

  557. And there's another proverb which talks about

  558. dismissing the gossip or the scoffer and the strife will end.

  559. One of the things I've noticed about Chad

  560. is he is a guy who knows a whole lot of pastors.

  561. He knows their inside and their outside.

  562. He knows what they actually do in their churches

  563. and what he doesn't.

  564. But you'll never hear him either encouraging gossip

  565. or encouraging them to do something

  566. or you'll never hear him either encouraging gossip

  567. about somebody else or talking about them

  568. even though he knows exactly what's happening.

  569. I found that quite fascinating

  570. because when I find out a little about someone,

  571. I have to go tell someone, do you know what happened?

  572. But he has this ability to know a whole lot of information

  573. and not talk about it.

  574. Create strife, eh?

  575. Strife and discord.

  576. Third one, fear is the seed for insecurity

  577. and double-mindedness.

  578. Fear is the seed for insecurity

  579. and double-mindedness.

  580. It's in James chapter one, verses four to six.

  581. Insecurity and double-mindedness.

  582. And double-mindedness invariably leads to unbelief.

  583. So fear is where it starts but then it keeps escalating.

  584. And so whatever area I have fear in

  585. will be an area that I feel insecure in.

  586. And if I don't fix it with the word

  587. and by running into the arms of God

  588. and finding help there, then fear will lead to insecurity.

  589. Insecurity will lead to double-mindedness.

  590. Double-mindedness makes it difficult for me

  591. to believe God in that area.

  592. These are things we must nip in the bud.

  593. The whole idea of not letting a seed grow

  594. is to quickly recognize what is happening

  595. and then run for help.

  596. Run for help to either God,

  597. run for help to someone who is godly,

  598. run for help to the word.

  599. At the end of the day, God uses others,

  600. God uses his spirit and God uses his word.

  601. Any questions on these three before we go on?

  602. These are unseen things, guys.

  603. We only see them once they manifest.

  604. Okay, next one.

  605. Slander-laced,

  606. slander-laced accusation.

  607. As an accusation that has slander in it.

  608. Slander-laced accusation.

  609. Slander-laced accusation is the seed for affliction.

  610. Is the seed for affliction.

  611. I have personally experienced this.

  612. Is the seed for affliction.

  613. Because it couples you with the accuser.

  614. He's known as, Satan is sometimes known

  615. as the accuser of the brethren.

  616. When Jacob actively begins to slander or accuse

  617. someone else, particularly believers,

  618. then he is now running a two-legged race

  619. with the accuser of the brethren.

  620. Once Jacob slanders or accuses someone

  621. without any valid reason,

  622. you then begin to suffer this thing called affliction

  623. because you are way too close

  624. to the accuser of the brethren.

  625. One of the stories in the Old Testament

  626. that highlights this is Numbers chapter 12,

    Numbers 12 chapter mention

  627. where Miriam and her brother begin to,

  628. not Miriam and Aaron, begin to slanderously accuse Moses

  629. of being married to Zipporah

  630. and saying that he isn't the right guy

  631. and why should God only speak to him?

  632. That's in verse one.

  633. In verse 12, she's suddenly afflicted with leprosy.

  634. Her skin turns white.

  635. I've done this to people that have suffered immensely

  636. and it did not stop till I went and told them

  637. that I had slandered them and accused them.

  638. But thank God I knew the key.

  639. I prayed throughout the night praying

  640. that this affliction would go away and it did not.

  641. I repented of it.

  642. It did not.

  643. Finally, I had to go to the person

  644. and say to the person, I have slandered you.

  645. Will you forgive me?

  646. Or will you pray for me?

  647. And the person forgave me and prayed for me

  648. and the affliction immediately lifted.

  649. The affliction lifted within 20 or 25 seconds.

  650. This is what I mean by knowing these seed and keys

  651. so that many things in your life ends

  652. without even having to do any praying.

  653. My experience shouldn't be the criteria

  654. that we base this on, but I'm just giving you

  655. an anecdote to explain that these things are real.

  656. Yep.

  657. There isn't much difference except that

  658. when I say slander-laced accusation,

  659. I mean, you're now publicly accusing someone.

  660. You are going around saying something

  661. about somebody publicly, at least gossip.

  662. It's between you and me.

  663. But now I'm going, telling people, hey, did you hear about,

  664. it's very similar, but there is something

  665. that Satan does where he picks on things

  666. that are in your life.

  667. Some of it may be true, but he starts accusing you.

  668. Zechariah three is a classic example.

  669. But there's Joshua the High Priest standing on one side,

  670. the angel of God on one side, Satan on one side,

  671. and Satan is accusing him.

  672. He's called the accuser of the brethren.

  673. He still tries to accuse us,

  674. but every time he tries to accuse us before God,

  675. he suddenly has to confront the blood of Christ

  676. and it's freshly slain blood.

  677. So I'm not saying that accusations have to be valid

  678. before you use them.

  679. Sometimes accusations are valid,

  680. but there must be great shown,

  681. because accusations are accusations

  682. where the intent is, can I bring this person down?

  683. That's the point of accusation, right?

  684. Can I bring this person down?

  685. So it's very similar to gossip.

  686. I was thinking I should remove gossip,

  687. but I thought I'd leave that in,

  688. because it's such a familiar word to us.

  689. Jealousy is the seed for demonic oppression.

  690. Jealousy is the seed for demonic oppression.

  691. This is far more nasty than we give it credit for.

  692. It's an ancient spirit.

  693. Jealousy is seed for demonic oppression.

  694. It's an ancient spirit.

  695. In 1 Samuel 18, verse eight to 10,

  696. you'll read the story that I mentioned just now

  697. about Saul.

  698. What drove Satan to rebel?

  699. What drove Satan to rebellion was also jealousy.

  700. Here is the most high God who's receiving all worship.

  701. Why should he receive all worship?

  702. I will sit on Mount Zion.

  703. The king has been installed on Zion,

  704. and yet Satan says, I will sit on Mount Zion.

  705. Jealousy is the seed for demonic oppression.

  706. Whenever you're jealous, get rid of it quickly, eh?

  707. Because this is so common.

  708. Some of the things with these,

  709. some of the problems with these simple things

  710. is that they have become so common to human experience

  711. that we think it is okay.

  712. 1 Samuel 18, eight to 10.

  713. Next one.

  714. Stinginess is the seed for spiritual disorientation

  715. and darkness.

  716. Stranger.

  717. Stinginess, as in being miserly,

  718. as in not being generous,

  719. is the seed for spiritual disorientation and darkness.

  720. Jesus put it this way in Matthew 6, 23.

  721. If your eye is evil, how great is the darkness within you?

  722. He was talking about money.

  723. He was talking about treasure.

  724. He was talking about where your heart is.

  725. He was talking about generosity.

  726. In Proverbs 21, verse nine,

  727. you see in the New King James Version

  728. and the King James Version, the opposite,

  729. that if a man has a bountiful eye,

  730. how blessed is he?

  731. By the same token, if a man has an evil eye,

  732. and by evil eye, it didn't mean an eye

  733. that looks at you evilly.

  734. Because Jesus uses the same phrase in Matthew 20,

  735. where he's distributing Dinahri to his laborers,

  736. and he says to one laborer,

  737. why do you have an evil eye

  738. with regard to how much I give this guy?

  739. Can't I be generous the way I want to be?

  740. An evil eye is an eye that is stingy or miserly.

  741. And it is surprising how stinginess

  742. brings in spiritual disorientation and darkness.

  743. What is the measure of stinginess?

  744. It changes from person to person, right?

  745. If I think that being generous

  746. is moving from 10% to 11%,

  747. I would suggest to you that I'm still stingy.

  748. It's not percentage.

  749. Generosity is the heart of God.

  750. Begin to increase in it.

  751. Stinginess brings in spiritual disorientation and darkness.

  752. An evil eye brings such darkness into a person's life,

  753. just as a bountiful eye, as it says in Proverbs 21, nine,

  754. brings such blessedness.

  755. And I'm not talking about offerings, guys.

  756. I'm talking about being generous.

  757. Any questions before we move on?

  758. Okay, next one, unforgiveness.

  759. I know you know enough about this one.

  760. Unforgiveness is the seed

  761. for spiritual quarantine and toxicity.

  762. Spiritual quarantine and toxicity.

  763. As in, once you don't forgive,

  764. once I don't forgive you for what you may have done to me,

  765. if you don't forgive me for what I've done to you,

  766. then till you do, you are not usable.

  767. You are quarantined.

  768. Because there is nothing that I have in common with Jesus

  769. when I refuse to forgive you.

  770. There is nothing that I have in common with Jesus

  771. when I refuse to forgive you.

  772. That's one side of it.

  773. So I'm quarantined saying,

  774. hey, Jacob, if you forgive, it's not that,

  775. I mean, there is a scripture which says,

  776. forgive us our sins as we forgive those that sin against us.

  777. I mean, if you were to flip it around,

  778. do not forgive me my sins

  779. if I do not forgive those that have sinned against me.

  780. That's not what it says.

  781. But the point is, unforgiveness causes me

  782. to be spiritually quarantined.

  783. And then leave that alone,

  784. it begins to develop toxicity inside me,

  785. which I know you've heard enough about,

  786. so I won't go there.

  787. Should I forgive if someone hasn't asked for forgiveness?

  788. Absolutely.

  789. Why?

  790. Because God does that.

  791. When does a person experience forgiveness?

  792. When he asks for it.

  793. When do you give it?

  794. As soon as you can.

  795. Here's a subtle one.

  796. Control is the seed for self-reliance.

  797. It's very subtle.

  798. You know, if you went into the Bible

  799. and Googled or searched for the word control,

  800. you'll only find words that have to do with self-control

  801. or someone controlling something in a good way.

  802. Control is a word that we have developed recently.

  803. I don't know what the right word is,

  804. I don't know what the right word is in the Bible.

  805. But you'll find stories where people,

  806. like for instance in Luke 12,

  807. where the man decided,

  808. hmm, now that I've done well, let me see what I can do.

  809. I can build some barns and then I can build bigger barns

  810. and then I can do this and then if I do this,

  811. then my life is secure.

  812. That is the whole idea of control.

  813. Can I secure my life by taking care of this, this, this

  814. and that so that in the eventuality that that happens,

  815. I can do this and this and it'll all be secure?

  816. Control is the seed for self-reliance.

  817. Control is the seed for us self-reliance.

  818. And it leads to delusion and the neglect of faith.

  819. It leads to delusion and the neglect of faith.

  820. It leads to delusion and the neglect of faith.

  821. As in one thinks one has everything under control and it's an absolute illusion

  822. because you have nothing under control and it leads to a neglect of faith

  823. because the opposite of faith is not fear the opposite of faith is self-reliance.

  824. What did God challenge people on always in the Old Testament? He did not say you

  825. He said you did not rely on me. Self-reliance is the opposite of faith.

  826. It's not fear that is the opposite of faith. Fear hollows faith but

  827. self-reliance is the contradiction to faith.

  828. It's what we teach our children be self-reliant and then we also expect

  829. them to show faith.

  830. This is going completely on a detour but one of the things that any martial art

  831. does to your child is it teaches your child how to be tremendously self-reliant

  832. for his or her own security and protection and there is a good side to

  833. it and there is a really detrimental side to it.

  834. But that's a topic for another day.

  835. That was supposed to be martial arts.

  836. Deception is the seed for concealment. For concealment. Concealment as a

  837. when I begin to live a life that is steeped in deception, either the world

  838. or sometimes God or the enemy, I don't know who, throws a blanket over me where

  839. I will stay concealed and will never see the light of day or light of

  840. breakthrough or light of emergence or light of God. This is what happened to

  841. Jacob. Jacob was highly deceptive and so every day he would be in a state of

  842. every time he would deceive and he would try to control his circumstances

  843. by thinking if I do this and do this then Esau may react this way. He would

  844. plan things so far ahead. He was a control freak and he was deceptive and

  845. his deception ended concealing him in Laban's land for 20 years.

  846. 20 wasted years. That marriage should have taken 20 days, man. It took him 20

  847. years. Deception conceals you. Deception is the seed for concealment. Jacob

  848. deceived and stayed concealed in Laban's house. Any questions before we go on?

  849. Deception is using lies to on one hand pave the way for you and on the other

  850. hand deprive someone of a benefit. It's both. Lies would sometimes be just to

  851. get out of something. Here there's a double whammy. It is pave a creative

  852. path to a better life. It's a path to a better life. It's a path to a better

  853. life. Here there's a double whammy. It is pave a creative path for you and deprive

  854. someone of something in the process and Jacob did that many many times.

  855. Next one. Complaint. Complaint. Complaint or discontentment, which is often where

  856. the complaint comes from, is the seed for coveting or craving. When I complain,

  857. when I'm discontent, it's only a matter of time where I start craving or

  858. coveting. And when I don't get what I crave or covet, now I begin to step into

  859. envy and bitterness. James chapter four, verse one talks about this where it

  860. says, why do you fight? Why do you quarrel? It is because you desire things

  861. and when you don't get them, you don't like it. You ask a miss. You get bitter.

  862. You start fighting. So complaint and discontentment. It is not that you don't

  863. take your complaint to God. Take your complaint to God. David did this often.

  864. Write your own psalm. It's really helpful. Both Val and Jane will endorse your

  865. complaint. But at the end of the day, after you write your psalms and get done

  866. with your complaining, don't go into discontentment because discontentment

  867. will eventually lead to coveting. Coveting is wanting something right now

  868. and wanting it at whatever cost. Craving then leads to bitterness and envy when it

  869. is not met. And unfortunately because we don't have the power to turn stones into

  870. bread, you can crave for something and not get it. And it just leads to envy and

  871. bitterness. And that then brings in its own bitter pill because bitter envy, this

  872. is a nasty one again. Bitter envy is the seed for confusion and the demonic.

  873. Where do we see it? We see it in James chapter 3 verse 16. Complaint is the seed

    James 3:16

  874. for discontentment. You'll see that in Exodus 16.3 and many times in Israel's

  875. life where Israel would begin to complain. The complaint would lead to

  876. discontentment. The discontentment would lead to bitterness. Bitterness against

  877. God, bitterness against Moses, bitterness against Joshua. And bitterness and envy

  878. would bring in all kinds of confusion and would bring in serpents. James 3 verse 16

    James 3:16

  879. very clearly says, where there is bitter envy, there is always confusion, things

  880. which are sensual and that which is demonic. Guys, remember this. Just to put a

  881. small mark on it. Sexual discontentment also goes this route of coveting and

  882. craving. Next one, pride. Pride is the seed for divine resistance. This is one of

  883. the few things that God resists. Like when you read the word resist, it's a

  884. sense of a soldier taking a stand against the enemy. So every time I walk in pride,

  885. there is divine resistance to my progress. There's divine resistance to my progress.

  886. It's in James chapter 4 verse 6. I was reading something by C.S. Lewis on pride

    James 4:6

  887. and he says pride is always competitive. It is always competitive. It will always

  888. compete. It will always compete. If a guy drives a little faster than you, you've got

  889. to show that next turn you'll drive a little faster. Doesn't matter what happens, it

  890. competes. Pride competes. After reading that article by C.S. Lewis yesterday, I was

  891. saying to him, as a father, I'd like to lose this desire to compete. Because

  892. competition, when you lose or win, you get critical. I want to lose the ability to

  893. compete. I don't want to compete. Except with Toronto. But otherwise, don't want to

  894. compete. Except against the Maple Leafs. Everything else is forgiven. So pride is

  895. the seed for divine resistance. It has the tendency to compete by nature and I must

  896. lose it. Next one is anger. Anger is the seed for stupidity. Yeah. Anger really

  897. makes you stupid. Stupidity, contention and plunder. A man who does not have

  898. control of his temper is like a city without walls. Can easily be entered into,

  899. can easily be plundered. A man who is angry is a man who is stupid, literally

  900. some versions say stupid because everything that he builds he destroys in a day.

  901. A man who is angry should be cast out because he will bring contention and discord.

  902. The thing is, we Christians are brilliant at disguising anger. Only our mothers, our

  903. fathers, our sisters, brothers and our spouses and occasionally our kids are ever

  904. exposed to our anger. And it comes out in these nasty flares that just shoot out

  905. and can be withdrawn. I want that gone from my life so that nobody near me gets

  906. singed. It won't be you. Because I'm supposed to take care of you. I'm a pastor.

  907. I'm supposed to be nice to you. It won't be people that I know. It will always be

  908. people that I know I cannot lose that will suffer.

  909. Destroy it out of your life because it brings stupidity, it brings contention and

  910. it plunders you. A man who does not have control over his temper is like a city

  911. that has walls. Anybody can enter anytime, take anything, put anything in.

  912. Oh, I'm glad my mum didn't turn up today. She would have looked at me like,

  913. really, you're talking about this? She was supposed to be here today. She's postponed

  914. her visit by a month. I'll preach some other sermon that day.

  915. So...

  916. Yeah, guys, remove this from your life because it's always the ones closest to us

  917. that bear it. It's never the ones that you are in charge over. It's always the ones

  918. that, you know, won't disappear if you get angry or won't leave the church or won't

  919. leave the company or won't sue you or won't take you to small courts. Those are

  920. the ones who bear it.

  921. Complacency. Complacency is the seed for loss and the sabotage of your destiny.

  922. There's this horrible verse in Zephaniah 1, verse 12 and 13, and God is saying this.

    Zephaniah 1:12

  923. God is saying that, I've heard what you're saying. You're saying that I won't do good,

  924. I won't do evil, that I'm neutral. Well, I want you to know that because of your

  925. complacent attitude, everything you have, you're going to lose. Your homes, your

  926. vineyards, your wells, everything you've planted will go away because of your

  927. complacency because you've decided that you will live your lives neutral, so much

  928. so that you're even saying that, I, God, am neutral. I won't do you any harm. I

  929. won't do you any good. Zephaniah 1, verse 12. What a powerful verse. I read that and

    Zephaniah 1:12

  930. thought to myself, nuts. Another word for complacency is mediocrity. One of the

  931. easiest ways to avoid being spotted for complacency is to make sure that you

  932. never hang out with passionate people because passion will always expose mediocrity.

  933. The easiest way to avoid being labeled or being exposed for mediocrity is if I can

  934. hang out with people just like me because passion will expose complacency and

  935. mediocrity. It's only when you stand next to something bright that you realize that

  936. you're wearing blue and black. Proverbs 1, 32 says your mediocrity will kill you.

  937. I taught something ages ago called taberah. If you ever get a chance, go listen to

  938. it on the website, taberah. Taberah is when the fire of God fell and it fell along

  939. the outskirts of the camp. And you realize that the ones around the outskirts of

  940. Israel's camp were the riffraff, as some versions say, that were complacent, that

  941. were dabbling in this and that, that were a mixed crowd. And that is where the fire

  942. fell. And God will not, after the passion of the cross, will not allow his children

  943. to continue in complacency or in mediocrity. One of two things will happen.

  944. One of two things will happen. Either he will say, I've got to ignite you because

  945. I cannot withstand lukewarmness. Or he will say, there will be loss and a sabotage of

  946. your destiny is one or the other because he hates this. He will do something to ignite

  947. you because lukewarmness and him don't get along well together.

  948. Three or four more and we're done. Legalism. Legalism. As in when I exalt or when I value

  949. the traditions of men, when I value my own culture, when I value my experience, when

  950. I value my thinking about the word, that's legalism. It's Christ plus something. Legalism

  951. is the seed for dullness. Legalism is the seed for dullness. Galatians 3.3, Paul says,

  952. Hey guys, what happened to you? Who bewitched you? Don't you know that everything you've

  953. gotten came by the Spirit and by hearing of faith? Why is it that you've walked into

  954. legalism now? How is it that you've become dull? Galatians 3.3. Legalism brings dullness

  955. and that dullness leads to greater stubbornness. Legalism is not some religious ritual.

  956. Legalism can happen to the best of us. It's stiff-neckedness and the stiff-neckedness

  957. comes because Jacob thinks that his experience, his thoughts, his present understanding or

  958. his culture is now exalted above the word, that this is higher than the word. It doesn't

  959. matter what you tell me. This is what I believe because this is what my experience has taught

  960. me. How do you battle legalism? You battle legalism by always being open to the fact

  961. that what you know today may be incomplete and that tomorrow someone may introduce something

  962. else that is better, that is wiser, that is more accurate. And if I don't live like that,

  963. and especially as we get older, if we don't live like that, this awaits us.

  964. What an encouraging message. Some Sundays we'll have to go through this, guys. Rebellion.

  965. Rebellion is the seed for dislocation. Rebellion is the seed for dislocation. Rebellion is

  966. the seed for dislocation. Genesis chapter 3, verse 24. Once they rebelled, they had to

    Genesis 3:24

  967. be put outside of the location that was planned for them before the foundation of time. They

  968. had to be put outside and an angel had to be put at the gate so that they could not

  969. enter back into Eden. Rebellion or the breaking of order is seed for dislocation. Genesis

    Genesis 3:24

  970. 3, verse 24. Dislocates you. That's why keeping order is so brilliant. It locates you where

  971. you were supposed to be even before the foundations of the earth. Rebellion dislocates you. Once

  972. you're dislocated, then the serpent has rights because it says in Ecclesiastes 10, 8, break

  973. the head and the serpent will bite. Compromise is the seed for blindness and disgrace. Compromise

  974. is the seed for blindness and disgrace. Bible says when a man takes a bribe, when a man

  975. perverts justice, when a man compromises, what happens is that he now deliberately chooses

  976. blindness. He blinds himself to what is true. Eutronomy 16, I think verse 19 or 19, verse

  977. 16 talks about it. Compromise is the seed for blindness. Eutronomy 16, 19. There was

  978. this king called Nehash in Judges chapter 11. Nehash, you know what he would do? He

    Judges 11 chapter mention

  979. would go and he would blind people who would gouge out their right eye. Israel gathers

  980. 7,000 Israelites gathered at Jabesh Gilead and they say, we'll come out to you. You can

  981. take whatever you want. And he says, okay, you come out to me. Here's a treaty I'll make

  982. with you. You come out to me and I'll take out your right eye. Every man, woman and child,

  983. I'll take out your right eye because I want to bring this grace on you. And they say,

  984. give us seven days and we'll let you know. And if nothing works, we'll come out. And

  985. then they send word to Saul. Saul has the spirit of God come down upon him. And he says,

  986. he cuts up an oxen and he sends the oxen to every tribe and he says, if you guys don't

  987. turn up here and fight with me, this will be the condition that all of you will have

  988. to bear as this oxen go. They all come, he goes, fights them, defeats Nehash. It's such

  989. a remote story that most of us don't remember, which is why I said it. But compromise causes

  990. blindness. And stand against this, see? It blinds you. Stand against it because once

  991. the blindness comes, this grace will follow but stand against it. Do not compromise. Do

  992. not compromise with your taxes. Do not compromise with the truth. Do not compromise with little

  993. things that have to do with the law and big things of the law. Do not compromise. Do not

  994. compromise. Daniel is brilliant at this. Keith Green brought out an album long ago called

  995. No Compromise. You should listen to the songs on that Keith Green album. Every one of them

  996. was about not changing or perverting or distorting that which is God. And I think that's why

  997. I said it. A culture that tolerates will also begin to be tolerating of God. We live in

  998. a culture that is very tolerant. Every time a culture becomes this tolerant, people in

  999. that culture become tolerant of God. Not obedient to God, tolerant of God. As in okay, we will

1000. humor you also. But don't get too God-ish on us now. Last two. Scorn. Scorn is a very

1001. important word. Scorn is the seed for barrenness. Scorn is the seed for barrenness. Scorn is

1002. the seed for barrenness. What you scorn or what you despise, you will not birth. Michael

1003. or Mikael, David's wife scorned him, was barren. Esau scorned his birthright, who was barren

1004. for the rest of his life even though he's sotted with tears. Scorn is the seed for barrenness.

1005. I'm talking about barrenness in terms of not being able to produce things in your life

1006. in the area that you despise something in. There are many things I despised with regard

1007. to church. And Acts 29 has suffered because of that. Because I as the pastor despise certain

1008. things about big churches or the way prophecy is being told. And I despise the fact that

1009. churches or the way prophecy is done or things like that. Because of that, this church has

1010. suffered because whatever you despise, you will not birth. Sorry? Whatever, because I

1011. have despised things, I have prevented them from happening at Acts 29. If I have despised

1012. big churches, Acts 29 has struggled to grow. If I have despised a certain way of doing

1013. things that I despise just because I didn't like the person who was doing it, then whatever

1014. I run begins to get affected. Because whatever you scorn, you will not possess. In that area,

1015. you will not be fruitful. If it is a church, you will not be fruitful. If it is a church,

1016. it doesn't matter how I mutilate it, you must believe it. God will judge me for mutilating

1017. it, but you must believe it so that it can be yours. If you despise prosperity because

1018. creatures teach prosperity in distorted, perverse ways, then you will not be able to enjoy what

1019. prosperity may look like here on earth. If you despise prophecy because there have been

1020. prophets that have abused and made money out of it and peddled their gifts, then you will

1021. not benefit. These are things that are already God provided. It is sad that the ones using

1022. that have given it such a bad rap, but we must now be wiser and look beyond them.

1023. Last one. Isolation, isolation, isolation is the seed, isolation is the seed for the

1024. cutting off of wisdom. Isolation is the seed for the cutting off, as in you cut yourself

1025. off from wisdom when you try to, when you choose to live. When you choose to live, you

1026. will not be able to live. You will not be able to live. You will not be able to live

1027. when you try to, when you choose to live an isolated life. You cut yourself off from

1028. wisdom. Proverbs 18.1, depending on the version you read, it says, a man who isolates himself

1029. is a man who strives against wisdom. He does not want to connect with wisdom. Proverbs

1030. 18.1. Isolation is like damming a stream so that the water doesn't get through you. It

1031. just cuts you off from wisdom. Now it makes sense why it says in Proverbs that in a multitude

1032. of counselors there is wisdom. Any questions guys?

1033. This seems, 19 of these things seems like a lot and trust me, there's at least 200 and

1034. so we haven't done 10%. So we leave it at this just to give you an idea of how this

1035. works and now it becomes easy for me to stop plunder, to get the Spirit of God flowing over

1036. me and helping me because immediately after the verse which says God resists the proud,

1037. it says he gives grace to the humble and the Spirit of God is my helper. It prevents me

1038. from breaking order because I know that when I break, I dislocate myself. It prevents me

1039. from nursing bitter envy because I know that it is only a matter of time where confusion

1040. and the demonic comes. I'm not even going into things like sexual immorality or adultery

1041. because that's a dirt thing. I mean to go into sexual immorality and adultery and to

1042. think that you can come out of it without being stained is foolish. The Bible speaks

1043. about it at least 40 times out of which 20 are in the Proverbs itself. So I'm not even

1044. going into those obvious sins. I'm talking about these little seeds that we sow without

1045. thinking on a regular basis. Any questions before I conclude? My conclusion is so how

1046. do we deal with this? Very easy, really very easy. The great thing about Jesus and what's

1047. his name was right when he called his book bondage breaker. What was the guy's name?

1048. Anderson. Jesus is a marvelous bondage breaker. He breaks things very very easily. So once

1049. you know which area, let's say it's anger that I am dealing with, then first I go to

1050. Romans 2, 4 and in Romans 2, 4 it says it's the kindness of God that brings someone to

1051. repentance. Start there guys. Remember you're not dealing with a judge, you're not dealing

1052. with a lawgiver, you're not dealing with a faceless surgeon who just wants to remove

1053. an ulcer. You're dealing with a father and that's where it starts. And so you go to the

1054. father and you first begin in Romans 2, 4 where it says receive his kindness because

1055. his kindness leads to repentance. That's where you start. So how do you deal with this?

1056. So father, I am so sorry for flaring against my mom or my sister knowing that they'll always

1057. be around, they can't disown me, they can't disappear. I am so sorry for being angry with

1058. them. Let's take an example because that's happened in the past in my life. I'm so sorry

1059. but father before, I don't want to be just forgiven for this. I want it removed from

1060. my life because this is not who you are. I want it removed from my life. That's a father

1061. I come to you and I think of the millions of times you could have been at least a little

1062. angry with me yet every time you could have, what did you meet me with? With tremendous

1063. kindness like the prodigal father who's running down the lane because he can see his son at

1064. a distance. Kindness is where it starts. And then once I go to Romans 2, 4, I go to 2 Corinthians

1065. 7, 10 where it says real repentance has remorse in it, has sorrow in it. Real repentance has

1066. sorrow in it. But that sorrow comes only after I see the kindness of God. And now I

1067. begin to sorrow that I have treated someone made in the image of God in a way that diminished

1068. them, that dissed them, that brought disdain on them. Doesn't matter whether it's your

1069. mother, father, friend, stranger, the guy who did not give you good service for the money

1070. you paid, how can I tear down someone made in the image of God? Father, I am so sorry

1071. because this is remorse that is genuine because repentance carries in it godly sorrow. 2 Corinthians

1072. 7, 10. That's the second part. If those two parts are met, then it becomes super easy

1073. because now you're like really skiing down this amazing slope which I've never done in

1074. my life and don't intend to but I watch it and I think, man, this must be fun with the

1075. wind blowing through your locks of your hair which also I don't have but I imagine. And

1076. so now it is you've done those two things. The third thing is now in submission, resist

1077. the devil. In submission. Now that you have submitted to God, resist the devil. Resist

1078. the devil. Resist the devil. Because God has the ability to catch that snake hidden behind

1079. throw it out even before you get rid of the crates. Resist the devil and he will flee from

1080. you because you've just sprayed this amazing thing called snake spray and it makes snakes

1081. slither away like bear spray. And so now in submission to God, resist the devil. Father,

1082. I am done with this anger thing. I remember telling my sister some years ago, I told her,

1083. Reba, I will, I give you my word, I will never be angry with you again. I will never raise

1084. my voice against you because she was so hurt that time that I did it. She didn't say anything

1085. because I was in Bristol. She didn't know what to say but I could see the hurt on her

1086. face. She just walked away. That made me feel worse because at least when you're angry and

1087. someone's angry back, you feel that it cancels each other out. When the person is still nice

1088. to you, now it was like keeping coals on my head. I remember going and sitting her down and saying,

1089. I am so sorry I've done this to you before and it ain't gonna happen again. And surprisingly by the

1090. grace of God, I've kept my word man. And it's only the grace of God. I kept my word. Trust the Holy

1091. Spirit man. Trust the Holy Spirit. One of the things I've learned is when I am not able to do it,

1092. there is someone called the Holy Spirit and he is God and he lives in me. I must trust that he can

1093. change me. I must trust that he can change me. Why is it that he can only change a smoker who has a

1094. 20-year addiction? Why can't he change you? He can change us. It's amazing how we trust God to

1095. change other people but we don't trust the Holy Spirit enough to change a habit in you. Trust the

1096. Holy Spirit. He is God. He can change you. He can change you. So now that we resist the devil,

1097. the snakes leaves before the crates are taken down. Trust the Holy Spirit for this. There is nobody

1098. interested, nobody interested in making you like Jesus as much as the Spirit of God. This is his

1099. life work. Can I bring out of you a blemishless bride for the bridegroom? If necessary, confess

1100. your sins to one another. As in go talk to somebody. Tell them, hey I had this problem. Hey guys,

1101. I'm telling you something. There's never been a sin in my life that I haven't gone and confessed

1102. to somebody else. It's been what certifies my victory because it is biblical. There has never

1103. been a sin in my life that I have not beaten, that God did not help me with but I had to bring it out

1104. into the light. You don't know how embarrassing it is when you're a pastor and you have to bring sins

1105. out into the light. But find people and you will always find people who won't write a blog about

1106. it and you can then bring it out into the open saying, here oh God and then go and say to Sheldon,

1107. here Sheldon, this is where I've been failing. Every sin that has been beaten has always found

1108. light in being confessed to someone else. I'm telling you the God-honest truth. God is my witness

1109. that I'm not trying to pull a fast one on you. These are biblically certified ways of victory.

1110. Then now that the snake has been removed from the room, rise up as many times as you need to

1111. cultivate like an athlete, like a soldier from 2nd Timothy 2 verse 2 to 5 where it says, like an

1112. athlete run according to the rules, like a soldier, do not get entangled in civilian affairs, like a

1113. farmer, wait patiently again and again and again go and take down those crates, go take those cardboard

1114. boxes out, throw them. Do they come back again? Get up again, go throw them out. Hey I've said

1115. this before, if you had a hundred dollar note in your hand and the wind blows and it blows out of

1116. your hand, what will you do? Go after it, pick it up. It happens again, what will you do? Go after it,

1117. pick it up. It happens a third time, trust me you won't come to the conclusion, ah if it blew three

1118. times it must be blowing in the wind and you start singing Bob Dylan. No, you would still go after it,

1119. pick it up again. The point being that it doesn't matter how many times I have to clear that room

1120. of crates, I will do it because I cannot afford, cannot afford the serpent and its brood to come

1121. back and build its lair there and so do it again and again like an athlete, like a farmer, like a

1122. soldier, discipline habits that dismantle old strongholds and build godly fortresses. Why? So

1123. that the world may benefit and so that no one is harmed.
