  1. Okay guys, so

  2. We've been talking about wilderness 40

  3. And it started six weeks ago

  4. And this is I think the final week where we exit the wilderness and step into whatever else

  5. God wants us to do and we said when we began that wilderness 40 is basically

  6. the Holy Spirit leading us into a time of drawing aside with God over the last 40 days

  7. so that we can return with a greater revelation of God with greater power and

  8. In the process prepare ourselves

  9. For the post covid landscape that awaits us so that the church will no longer be

  10. Rendered a non-essential service and I'm not talking about the institution. I'm talking about us as people

  11. That was the intent with which we started wilderness 40 and over the last six weeks

  12. Weeks we've covered ground some of you have drawn aside. I know at least one or two of you that

  13. Took on fasts someone just concluded their 40-day fast a couple of days ago others withdrew from

  14. Things so that they could set aside time

  15. I was fascinated by how much you try to draw aside and create time with God so that you come back with a greater revelation

  16. Of him with greater power and prepared for what awaits us that was the intent and I believe it was God led because as I look

  17. at the teachings and go over them, I'm just

  18. Blessed by what has been taught and so today we go on to wilderness 40 the title for today is deliverer

  19. deliverer

  20. wilderness 40 deliverer and so this is a perhaps the last in the series and

  21. Next week we start on something else

  22. So if you look at Luke 4 14 Luke 4 14

  23. Luke 4 14

  24. Boy

  25. Look for 14

  26. So

  27. Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit and

  28. News about him spread through the whole countryside

  29. He taught in their synagogues and everyone praised him and so this is immediately after being in the wilderness if you go to verse 12

  30. verse 13 it says when the devil had finished all this tempting he left him until an opportune time and it started off with Luke chapter

    Luke 4:1

  31. 4 verse 1 where it said Jesus full of the Holy Spirit

  32. Returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness of the desert where for 40 days

  33. He was tempted by the devil and now we are in verse 14

  34. Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit and news about him began to spread so

  35. The intent is that if acts 29 actually

  36. Did engage in drawing aside setting time aside to pursue God then it follows that

  37. After you come out of the wilderness

  38. You come out

  39. Cloth

  40. With the power of the Holy Spirit like Jesus

  41. You come out clothed with the power of the Holy Spirit as with Jesus Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit

  42. Which then begs the question. What does that look like?

  43. What does that look like?

  44. What does that look like and to look at to see what it looks like go to

  45. Verse 17 look chapter 4 verse 17 and 18. This is what it looks like

  46. The scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him

  47. Unrolling it he found the place where it is written

  48. The Spirit of the Lord is on me because he has anointed me and this is what it looks like to preach

  49. the good news to the poor

  50. To

  51. Heal

  52. The broken-hearted

  53. To open prison doors

  54. To restore sight to the physically and spiritually blind

  55. To comfort those who mourn

  56. To set captives free

  57. And to declare the year of favor declare the year of Jubilee or the year of favor

  58. This is what it looks like

  59. So if acts 29 has

  60. Done what they are called to do as in follow God into the wilderness learn things from the wilderness

  61. While we were there setting time aside, then this is what will happen

  62. That is what it looks like to be clothed by the power of the Holy Spirit because at the end of the day

  63. The word anointed is basically being completely covered with

  64. So to be clothed with the Holy Spirit would look like this for each of us for all of us

  65. Whether we are online or sitting here

  66. This is what it would look like to preach the good news to the poor to heal the broken-hearted

  67. To open prison doors to restore sight to the physical and spiritually blind to comfort those who mourn

  68. To set captives free and to declare the year of the favor of the Lord

  69. And all this is accomplished simply by one thing

  70. Anointing or clothing or the power of the Spirit

  71. So Jesus returns as Israel's son

  72. So Jesus returns as Israel's deliverer from the wilderness

  73. He was baptized. He goes into the wilderness has an encounter

  74. with the enemy but in the process also has a revelation of who he is and who God is comes back and then

  75. He comes back as Israel's deliverer just like Moses

  76. Moses went into the wilderness was there for 40 years

  77. Moses went into the wilderness was there for 40 years

  78. confronts Yahweh confronts him through the burning bush and now Moses returns back to Egypt to deliver Israel

  79. It's it's the same motive that's being played again and again

  80. Moses is rejected by the people he came to Jesus goes opens a scroll and reads it and he is rejected by the people

  81. He came to just because God calls you and asks you to be a deliverer doesn't mean that the road is easy

  82. Doesn't matter whether it's delivering your children delivering your parents delivering people in your neighborhood

  83. Deliverers are not people who have been called and appointed so that they face no resistance a

  84. Deliverer is proved in his resistance because deliverer requires being someone who is able to set people free

  85. Which means they have to come up against someone who has taken them captive

  86. So there will be resistance

  87. But both Moses and Jesus returned from the wilderness and this is what they begin

  88. But the strange thing is it's all by the power of the Holy Spirit

  89. So

  90. I'm gonna pose a question which is just rhetorical. Is this your expectation? Is this your expectation coming out?

  91. of

  92. 40 days of wilderness

  93. This must be your expectation if you actually did set aside your expectations

  94. Set aside time to draw close to him then expect the Holy Spirit to respond the Holy Spirit honors anything that is set apart

  95. Understand this guys that setting apart is something that the Holy Spirit loves doing

  96. Loves responding to every time someone sets themselves apart the Holy Spirit responds every time

  97. he specializes in

  98. Taking care of anyone who sets himself apart. What does he say to Manoah and his wife?

  99. Hey, you're gonna have a son. He's gonna be a Nazarite set him apart. What happens the Holy Spirit falls on him

  100. What happens to John the Baptist this boy will be special. He's sent by God set him apart. The Holy Spirit falls on him

  101. Whenever a people set themselves apart it is like a natural provocation

  102. That is always always met with a supernatural response from the Holy Spirit

  103. And when we do not set apart ourselves, then the Holy Spirit has to work on setting us apart

  104. See the difference guys on one hand you have those that do not set themselves apart

  105. Which doesn't mean that the Holy Spirit abandons you now the Holy Spirit has to take up the arduous work of helping you be set apart

  106. but if you

  107. Set yourself apart then the Holy Spirit has the enjoyable work

  108. Of coming upon you with the kind of power that causes this to happen

  109. Any questions

  110. Is this your expectation because or in other words, let me rephrase it this must be your expectation

  111. This must be your expectation

  112. Come otherwise the last 42 days have been wasted all you lost was a little bit of weight a bit of watching TV

  113. This must be my expectation for you this must be my expectation of you

  114. This must be my expectation of God because he's always done this any questions

  115. Strangely it's not your responsibility

  116. Your responsibility is to believe

  117. After years I was reading I mean I've been a Christian for many years and again

  118. I'm reading John 7 37 and 38 and I'm fascinated that the only thing required for the Holy Spirit to flow out of you is

  119. believing

  120. That's all it says it says if you believe out of you will flow rivers of living water

  121. So this is not even my responsibility

  122. But it is required of me to believe this you guys we don't we can't imagine

  123. How much is wrought through believing or taking God at face value or taking his patterns as face value?

  124. part of the reason we should read scriptures is not to get a promise but to understand patterns and

  125. Then believe that God while he is not predictable has behaviors

  126. That if I do this this and this this is the result because wherever there is sowing there is reaping and

  127. So I'm going to believe for this for all of us and I have faith enough for all of us

  128. But if you believe it also it really helps

  129. Any questions

  130. It's not your responsibility except to believe and if you believe then the Holy Spirit begins to flow through you so then

  131. What really did happen in the wilderness?

  132. Why did we spend all that time in the wilderness if the Spirit of God was going to do this anyways, and it's not your responsibility

  133. To answer that

  134. Here's a question. I need to ask while you were in the wilderness

  135. Did you cut a path through the desert for the spirit to flow in your life while you were in the wilderness?

  136. Just like water flows

  137. Through rocks did you while you were in the wilderness did you over the last?

  138. 42 days when you drew aside did you cut a path?

  139. through the rock through the deserts of your life to

  140. Cut a path for the Holy Spirit to flow in drawing aside. Here are the questions you need to ask in drawing a side

  141. Hey, can I have some other pen than a red one because there were complaints about the red one last time

  142. Yeah, Derek echo it might hit you but you never know yeah

  143. You just wanted to be on TV you could have easily thrown it

  144. I

  145. While you were in the wilderness did you cut a path through the through the desert for the spirit to flow did you cut a path?

  146. In your life that would make it easy for the spirit to flow

  147. So here are the questions you need to ask in drawing aside over the last six weeks

  148. Did you increase?

  149. Did you?

  150. increase in

  151. Did you increase in?

  152. Character or moral excellence I

  153. Put these boxes because I when I went down this list I realized that I couldn't tick all these boxes

  154. Did you increase in?

  155. Presence filled power

  156. Did you increase in trusting or yielding

  157. To his sovereignty

  158. Or

  159. his absolute rulership

  160. Where you trust him saying I don't understand this I can't see you the light at the end of the tunnel

  161. But I trust your sovereignty. I trust your good fatherness. Did you increase in self-giving?

  162. Where you give of yourself and that which you have and did you increase in the purity of

  163. Love

  164. For others. These are the things that should have happened

  165. These are the things that always happen when people draw aside and spend time with the creator of the universe

  166. These are the things that always happen

  167. With anybody who draws aside and spends time with the creator of the universe you take Moses

  168. He spent time in the wilderness. He changed you take

  169. Paul he spent time in the wilderness. He changed you take Jesus. He spent time in the wilderness

  170. He displayed who he was after that so

  171. This is the list that I want to ask you did this happen for you in the wilderness

  172. As you look back at the last 42 days, which ones can you take tick

  173. Was there a change in your character and your moral excellence the way you function? Was there a change?

  174. Sometimes it takes time for change to be visible, but you know change within you

  175. What was there a difference in terms of how you deal with things?

  176. Very aware of the power of God because you're more aware of his presence presence always translates into power

  177. The closer you are to royalty or a king the greater clout you have

  178. So

  179. Did you trust or yield to his sovereignty where things haven't moved things haven't changed?

  180. You don't know what's happening

  181. You don't know what's happening

  182. But you trust and yield to his sovereignty and his sovereignty is his kingness his fatherhood his lordship his

  183. absolute control over everything

  184. and

  185. His perfect will as in his perfect ways of doing things you are perfect in all your ways

  186. Was there a yielding or trusting of his sovereignty?

  187. Force were you self-giving have you become more self-giving?

  188. Did these last 42 days bring you to a place where you had a loser grip on your money?

  189. loser grip on the time treasure talent strength and

  190. The last one is did is there an increase in the purity of your love?

  191. These are actual measures that you will find in the scriptures again and again to figure out whether someone

  192. Spends time with God because anyone who spends time with God changes did you change?

  193. I'm just saying I couldn't take all the boxes

  194. I'm just saying I couldn't take four boxes and I'll leave it at that. Don't want to know how many boxes I ticked

  195. So what do we do if we can't go through these boxes and take them hey

  196. Continue with this process anyways

  197. Find the areas of deficit and decide that in these areas. I'm not going to back off. I'm going to press forward

  198. Character or moral excellence how have your habits changed? How have your behaviors changed?

  199. How have you changed in terms of a purity not purity of love but purity of love?

  200. Purity not purity of love but purity of character did it get worse or did it get better?

  201. Or was it comes he comes up

  202. Any questions

  203. Moses Jesus Paul chiseled into their lives these traits

  204. When you chisel into your lives these traits the strange thing that happens is the Holy Spirit who has seen that you have set yourself

  205. Apart now finds easy pathways in your life to flow through

  206. It's like a river suddenly finding a secret gorge in the rock face that it

  207. Rushes through because it doesn't have to spend years creating a pathway. It has found a pathway because you were at work

  208. Jesus changes people

  209. Regardless of whether you spend time with him or not if Jesus is in your life there is change and therefore if there is no change

  210. I must begin to question my relationship with Jesus Christ not whether he is present or absent

  211. but whether he is active and

  212. The only reason Jesus is inactive is when I forcibly do not yield my will to him and he'll tolerate that for a while

  213. But because he loves me he'll begin to discipline me

  214. Because

  215. Hebrews chapter 12 says which father does not discipline his children if he did not discipline you you are illegitimate

    Hebrews 12 chapter mention

  216. That's on the side

  217. Okay, any questions

  218. Please go through this list I can give you person after person in the Bible who was changed in these

  219. The disciples my god those disciples were changed man

  220. They changed in their character. They changed in the power that they exuded they changed in their ability to trust God

  221. They changed in giving everything they changed in the purity of their love so much so that people would say we know that these guys

  222. Have hung around with Jesus

  223. Okay

  224. So

  225. You are to return we are to return I am to return from the wilderness as a deliverer

  226. But here's the thing man with being a deliverer

  227. You cannot deliver you cannot deliver

  228. That which

  229. You cannot deliver that which you will

  230. Not lay your life down

  231. In birth pangs or death

  232. This is where God is going to take us over the next few weeks

  233. So Jacob you set yourself apart as a church for the last 42 days

  234. You drew next to me the Holy Spirit always honors those that set themselves apart

  235. Some of you have pressed in and you can take off of two or three boxes

  236. Some of you can take all five you've created pathways in your life through which the Holy Spirit can flow and you can take

  237. The Holy Spirit can flow and you are now being sent anointed by the Spirit to be deliverers ones who deliver others

  238. But Jacob here's a question. I want to ask you then

  239. Actually, and here's a question. I'm asking you

  240. If you want to be a deliver deliverer

  241. I want you to know that you cannot deliver that which you will not lay your life down for in birth pangs or death

  242. I'm not

  243. I'm not playing around with words. I'm not trying to give you a nice sermon

  244. You must understand that there's a dirt in acts 29 in our lives in my life when it comes to this area

  245. You cannot be a deliverer

  246. Till you're willing to lay down your life either in travail and birth pangs

  247. So that someone be delivered or in death so that someone be delivered

  248. If you don't believe me turn to Exodus 32 32

  249. Exodus 32 32 I'll take you through some scriptures a

  250. the unfortunate thing about

  251. Getting serious about God is that?

  252. He's too serious about stuff

  253. And so our choice is either to follow down that road or just play church

  254. And so Exodus 32 32 Moses is in the desert

  255. Israel needs to be delivered

  256. They've made themselves gods of gold

  257. And now Moses says this

  258. But now please forgive their sins, but if not then erase me out of the book you have written

  259. If you want to deliver somebody

  260. If you want to be if you want to be a delivering church we have to be willing to lay our lives down

  261. either in birth pangs as in travail until something is formed or in death

  262. As in life for life dying for someone else

  263. This is the extreme that Jesus is taking us to this is what we'll be talking about in the next few weeks

  264. Otherwise, we just pretend delivering

  265. It's not real

  266. Let me show you another scripture

  267. Isaiah 53 10 and 11 Isaiah 53 10 and 11 I'm reading from the

  268. Message Isaiah 53 10 and 11

  269. Isaiah 53

  270. 10 and 11 reading from the message still it's what God had in mind all along to crush him with pain

  271. The plan was that he give himself up as an offering for sin so that he'd see life come from it life life and more life

  272. Life life and more life and God's plan will deeply prosper through him out of that terrible travail of soul

  273. He'll see that it's worth it and be glad he did it

  274. Through what he experienced my righteous one

  275. My servant will make many righteous ones as he himself carries the burden of their sins

  276. Out of that terrible travail of soul, he'll see that it's worth it and be glad he did it

  277. Through what he experienced my righteous one my servant will make many righteous ones as he himself carries the burden of their sins

  278. That's Jesus let's look at paul romans 9

  279. Romans 9

    Romans 9:1–3

  280. Verse 1 to 3 from the message romans 9 verse 1 1 to 3 from the message

    Romans 9:1

  281. I

  282. Wish I could say this for you man. You'd have such an amazing pastor if these words were mine

  283. But they're not

  284. Romans 9 1 to 3 from the message

  285. At the same time you need to know that I carry with me at all times a huge sorrow

  286. It's an enormous pain deep within me. I'm never free of it. I'm not exaggerating

  287. Christ and the holy spirit are my witnesses. It's the Israelites

  288. If there were any way I could be cursed by the messiah so that they could be blessed by him

  289. I'd do it in a minute

  290. They're my family

  291. Here's what I mean by you cannot deliver that which

  292. You cannot deliver that which you will not lay your life down either in travail or in death either in birth pangs or in death

  293. Let's look at another scripture Galatians 4 19 from the passion translation Galatians 4 19

  294. From the passion translation and here's what it says

  295. And here's what it says

  296. You are my dear children, but I agonize in spiritual labor pains once again until the anointed one will be fully formed in your hearts

  297. You are my dear children, but I agonize in spiritual labor pains

  298. Once again until the anointed one will be fully formed in your hearts

  299. The actual act of deliverance happens by the spirit guys

  300. He sets the captive free

  301. He opens blind eyes. He opens prison doors. He brings comfort to the mourning but

  302. The person through which it will happen radically are people who begin to operate the switch

  303. And I'm saying to us at acts 29 that we are the people who are the people who are the people who are the people who are the people

  304. We don't

  305. See the engine here or the or the or what fuels this whole thing these scriptures is not

  306. Uh is not obedience. It's not like oh father. We are an obedient church. We will go and deliver whoever you tell us to deliver

  307. It's a good thing. It's a biblical thing, but it's not obedience

  308. It's not anointing father anoint us anoint us with your spirit

  309. Let isaiah 61 happen in our lives so that we may go and deliver others. It's not anointing anointing is a great thing

  310. But it ain't that

  311. It's not being apostolic where father sent us out so that we may represent you accurately and set people free

  312. It is not duty where oh god, we are duty bound as believers. We are

  313. Called to set others free. No, it's not faith father. I have the faith to set this nation free. It's not calling

  314. It's not a destiny. It's not nations at the end of the day guys at the end of the day. It is simply this

  315. the

  316. Overwhelming

  317. Ever-ending

  318. Reckless love

  319. Of god, and if this is not there then you can't be a deliverer not the god kind

  320. It is what set you free man, it's not anointing that set you free

  321. It's the anointed one who behaved a certain way that sets you free

  322. All

  323. Those things I mentioned are super important obedience is important anointing is critical

  324. Faith is required calling helps you function in a certain way

  325. Destiny allows you to walk with intentionality nations are waiting being apostolic is biblical

  326. But at the end of the day you can have all that

  327. And yet this one simple factor can be missing and that's why I was asking her to sing that song

  328. Because at the end of the day, I am no deliverer

  329. If i'm not

  330. Engineed by fueled by motivated by one very simple thing the overwhelming never-ending reckless love of god

  331. This is how deliverers work

  332. This is why the spirit of god could fully be upon jesus because he was like this

  333. And this is not

  334. You can't

  335. It is both corporate and individual individuals have to have this burning in their hearts and the body as a whole has to

  336. Embrace this is this is the only thing we have been called to be

  337. Any questions

  338. And this we don't have in trumps guys

  339. This we don't have we have all those other things and they're brilliant and most churches don't have those other things

  340. But this is what we need and if we have this we

  341. Can do whatever god wants to do the way he wants it done

  342. Because anyways guys god is calling us to do what we are incapable of doing and he's calling us to do it by the spirit

  343. I

  344. Writing this message down. I felt god prompting me to watch this movie that many of you probably have already watched hacksaw ridge

  345. It's about this seven day adventist called desmond dos

  346. who

  347. Decides that he will not pick up a gun, but he cannot sit at home

  348. While world war two is going on he gets a job

  349. In a certain

  350. Industry during the war that could do services for the war front. He refuses it

  351. He says I cannot sit at home while my friends are serving out on the field. And so he registers to

  352. join the

  353. battlefield

  354. And yet he won't pick up a gun

  355. He says I will not touch a gun he goes through a lot of

  356. Difficulties he gets court-martialed but at the end of the day without firing a shot and

  357. In the battle of okinawa on a ridge called

  358. Hacksaw he saves 75 people

  359. 75 people

  360. And I wanted to show you the clip but then realized that to show you a clip in church requires a

  361. A certain license and we don't have that license so it's

  362. It would be illegal to show you the clip

  363. But you can watch it at home

  364. but one of one of the things that happens throughout this movie and I watched the movie with derek yesterday at least a bit of

  365. it is

  366. He's

  367. Quiet injured. He's got

  368. Blood flowing from different parts of his body. He doesn't touch a gun

  369. And he goes back and starts pulling one person and this is a true story by the way, so it's not made up

  370. And he died in 2006 so he goes pulls one guy brings him and then he lowers him over the cliff and he gets saved

  371. And he saves 75 people like that and every time he saves someone his cry is one more solo god one more soul

  372. When I was watching it I was thinking of jivan

  373. This is what sometimes fuels jivan one more girl. Oh god

  374. One more swati one more devi one more buddhi. Just one more one more

  375. More

  376. I want the same thing to happen for me when it comes to this idea of delivering

  377. the earth

  378. If I don't have his overwhelming never-ending reckless love I can be very effective, but it'll still lack the aroma of yabe

  379. I don't want to do anything godly that doesn't have the aroma of joe hova

  380. So

  381. So just like

  382. Desmond d'os says

  383. One more soul and just like jivan says oh god one more girl or one more kid father that won't kill himself or won't be

  384. discarded

  385. It is life for life guys. It is life on life. It is life to life in the sense that

  386. It is

  387. Deliverance doesn't happen through a prayer that just causes a demon to leave

  388. It's life for life

  389. your life for

  390. Someone else's life and by your life. I'm not saying you have to die because christ has already done that

  391. What i'm saying it requires a pouring out of life

  392. I mean who here could even dare say that oh god, I would rather that you curse me and I never

  393. See your face and be thrown into eternal damnation so that my

  394. Family would be served also that my nation would be served who says stuff like that

  395. Who says stuff like moses did when he says oh god?

  396. Uh, I would that these Israelites that the rest of my people be saved so block me out of your book

  397. But let them be written in who says things like this. Where are these people?

  398. Where are I i'm not even talking about jesus

  399. I'm talking about people like moses and paul one in the old testament and one in the new testament

  400. Man if you become a church like this imagine what what can catch fire?

  401. The 12 the 11 and then

  402. The 12th one who was chosen

  403. The they had this

  404. It was easy for them to run with this

  405. It was easy for them to run with this

  406. It's life for life it's life on life

  407. Life on life

  408. And it's life to life

  409. and what I mean by that is

  410. Jacob if you are really willing to do everything in your power with your life

  411. Leave alone for someone outside of the church if I did this for you

  412. You would change dramatically

  413. There are times when I do it for you

  414. But if this was something that was really heartfelt in my heart, I guess if it's heartfelt it has to be hot

  415. If it was really deep in my heart you would be radically changed

  416. You would be radically changed

  417. Life for life life on life as in it is not some teaching or sermon of points that's given to you

  418. It's always life on life that we get to do

  419. somewhat okay in this church but life for life and then life to life as in it

  420. If this was real guys, you would find that the people that you're working with go from

  421. Normal life to another orbit from normal life to divine life from normal life to eternal life you would find a change

  422. It is impossible to stop this because the life you are pouring out is not yours to begin with we talked about this

  423. Last week that the life that I have is in mind to begin with

  424. I live it in union with the anointed one who lives his life through me

  425. So every time I pour this out and he is waiting

  426. It's the way of the master guys and no cost is too high it is the way of the master no cost is too high

  427. It is the way of the master. This is how jesus did it in john 15 verse 13

    John 15:13

  428. He says hey, I don't call you slaves anymore. I call us. I don't call you servants anymore

  429. I call you friends

  430. And what is the best thing that a friend can do for another the best thing that a friend can do for another is lay

  431. Down his life for him. We think that is jesus's prerogative not mine

  432. Which reminds me of the other line in that song that in giving myself away

  433. Regardless of whether the other person deserves it or not whether the person has earned it or not

  434. In giving myself away the way of the master is fulfilled

  435. Because there's that line in that song you give yourself away

  436. I did not earn it nor did I deserve it

  437. I did not earn it nor did I deserve it

  438. You give yourself away

  439. I did not earn it nor did I deserve it guys. Can you go and ponder on this? Can you let it first hurt you?

  440. It should hurt you first

  441. It should hurt you because this is who christ is and this is not who you are yet

  442. And after it hurts you after it pierces you can you begin not to escape the piercing?

  443. Because what god can do with 12 what can he do with 70?

  444. It's the whole thing of giving oneself away so much could change if I saw you as valuable as I am

  445. So much could change if I saw you as valuable as me

  446. I think i'm highly valuable. I think i'm dearly loved. I have a very good estimation of myself

  447. But what if I had the ability to see you as valuable as me?

  448. What would I not do for you?

  449. It may not happen by tomorrow guys, but my god i've been

  450. Yeah, I think i'd love to go down this route because it is the way of the master

  451. Isaiah 43 verse 4

    Isaiah 43:4

  452. in the

  453. NIRV the new international readers version puts it very well. Isaiah 43

    Isaiah 43:4

  454. Verse 4

  455. Isaiah 43 verse 4 you are priceless to me

    Isaiah 43:4

  456. I love you and honor you

  457. I'll trade other people for you. I'll give up nations to save your lives. I pray god that

  458. Other people become priceless to me

  459. I feel

  460. Highly valuable. I feel i'm really valued by god

  461. And I feel i'm valued by people too

  462. I feel that i'm priceless to god. I feel i'm really loved and honored

  463. But I wish I could see you like that and you would get so much more from me if I did that

  464. And same applies to you then towards others any questions guys

  465. Hey, we got to have causes like this man

  466. I don't want to die without having a cause that I would lay my life down for

  467. And christ can't be a cause a cause that christ has must become your cause

  468. Go home and watch that scene. It's called one last one more soul. It's just a three minute 52 second clip

  469. He's just crying off to begin with he's

  470. There are bombs going off all over and he doesn't know what to do and he's standing there

  471. He says I can't hear you. Oh god. I can't hear you. I don't know what to do next. I can't pick up a gun

  472. I don't know what to do next and then as he's saying I can't hear you god

  473. He hears the scream of some person in pain and he knows what he has to do and that begins the journey and keeps saying

  474. Oh god one more soul his hands are flayed because he's got to lower these people

  475. He's got cuts and wounds and bruises and he's bleeding

  476. And yet it is can I have one more soul one more soul 75 people saved he's the only conscientious

  477. Objector to war who's been awarded the medal of honor

  478. One more soul

  479. Man find a cause man. We were born for stuff like this

  480. my god humans

  481. Especially ones that have been

  482. Especially ones that have been

  483. Found by christ and who have been paid for blood by christ now should become like him

  484. Where there must be a cause what kind of life is it? Otherwise?

  485. It's this whole idea of the importance of one importance of one it's that parable of the sheep

  486. Leaves the 99

  487. It's the importance of one

  488. I want you to begin to go down that route. It is the importance of one

  489. the importance

  490. Of one

  491. It is the importance of one

  492. It is the one sheep that strays it is the one woman by the well in samaria that jesus

  493. takes a detour

  494. To meet or to encounter it is the one man on a tree

  495. Whose name is zekias it is the one eunuch?

  496. Who is ethiopian and he's going back to?

  497. Serve candice the queen of ethiopia

  498. It is the one paul who's riding a horse as a persecutor and gets knocked off it one one one

  499. It is this one baby or one little girl that is rescued or one grown-up girl that is rescued

  500. Or one person who is retrieved from sure damage death destruction

  501. That they end up as people that change the world is a separate thing many of them do

  502. Paul became who he became the woman in samaria went and told the entire village

  503. The demoniac in gadrin went to the cities of decapolis and preach the gospel the ethiopian went back

  504. To his country and africa began to hear about christ

  505. That's a different thing the outcome is not what it is. It is a value that is in the person

  506. but we have to understand the importance of one where you

  507. Where you look at someone and you realize that?

  508. I may god not bring god will not bring too many encounters into your life when you begin to go down this route

  509. Which is why jesus dealt with 12

  510. But when you stand before somebody in your daily encounters or sometimes in your

  511. Functional encounters given what people is so easy so quick so fast so dismissive

  512. And now to sing what god is saying to you god is saying to you and we love those lines when betty

  513. Gets into those four lines

  514. She sings the first two lines low and then the next two lines high and she really puts on the writs

  515. But what if it was not god singing to you, but you singing to somebody else?

  516. These emotions will wear out guys

  517. This is nice now it touches your heart it breaks my heart

  518. But tomorrow when there are no emotions, I still have to be able to there's no shadow. I won't light up

  519. There is no mountain. I won't climb up coming after you

  520. There is no wall. I won't kick down. No lie. I won't tear down coming after you

  521. These are this is what deliverers are made of this is the substance of their life

  522. This is the substance of their life

  523. Ezekiel 34 verse 16

    Ezekiel 34:16

  524. From the nir we put to this when jesus is talking about god is talking about the shepherds of israel

  525. And he says yeah, i'll be the kind of shepherd you want me to be and he says i'll search for the lost

  526. I'll bring back those that have wandered away. I'll bandage the ones that are hurt. I'll make the weak ones stronger

  527. I'll destroy those that are fat and strong. I'll take good care of my sheep. I'll treat them fairly

  528. I'll treat them fairly

  529. I'll search

  530. This is cool

  531. Motive in most of the lost coin lost sheep story. There is the

  532. Identity as an identify what is lost search for it

  533. Discover it

  534. And then i'm always surprised at how joyful

  535. The response is after it's found there's always a party once it's found

  536. Both in the lost coin and the lost sheep. It is this idea of

  537. Yes, i've identified what's lost. Yes. I've gone searching for it. Yes. I've discovered it. Yes. I'm bringing it back

  538. Yes, I am so joyful over this

  539. You will know the depth of a joy you haven't known yet

  540. When you partner with god in this

  541. You will know the depth of a joy you haven't known yet

  542. It'll have such a divine quality to it

  543. I think i'll stop here

  544. I'll stop here

  545. Um, can you put up the song so will I

  546. So starting in the next few weeks we'll go down this road of what does it look oh god to be this kind of a person

  547. What does it look to

  548. You

  549. Can you sing this song with

  550. Some meaning guys as much as you can muster because when we get to the part where it says god of salvation

  551. it's

  552. pretty

  553. Hey jill, do you know how to play the piano?

  554. Do you want to try this?

  555. Okay, no worries

  556. Anyone else wants to give it a shot if you play the piano?

  557. Yes, even no demon. It's okay

  558. Okay, let's just sing it without so father as we sing this song

  559. There are parts of the song that are so

  560. Speaking into what we've just talked about

  561. Father I plead with you for this change it's critical to our existence

  562. Because there's so much that you've given us so much but this must happen too. It's just the core of your heart. Oh god

  563. This is why you did what you did

  564. And we need this so don't deny us this

  565. I know you won't i'm just trying to tell you how desperate we are how desperate I am

  566. For this in my own life and then for this in the church and for other churches that we are connected with

  567. So as we sing this love

  568. It's just the beginning

  569. Thank you for taking us through the wilderness. It was a really good trip father

  570. Six weeks of really learning encountering finding

  571. God of creation

  572. There at the start before the beginning of time

  573. Of time

  574. With no point of reference

  575. You spoke to the dark and flashed out the wonder of light

  576. Change guys because I don't know the words

  577. God off your promise

  578. You don't speak in vain no syllable empty or void

  579. For once you have spoken

  580. All nature and science follow the sound of your voice

  581. And as you speak

  582. A hundred billion creatures catch your breath

  583. Evolving in pursuit of what you said

  584. If it all reveals your nature, so will I

  585. I can see your heart in everything you say

  586. Heavy painted sky the canvas of your grace

  587. Is if creation still obeys you so will I

  588. If the stars were made to worship so will I

  589. If the mountains bow in reverence, so will I

  590. If the oceans

  591. Your greatness so will I

  592. For if

  593. If the wind goes where you send it so will I

  594. If the rocks cry out in silence, so will I

  595. If the sum of

  596. Still falls shy

  597. Shy

  598. Then we'll sing again a hundred

  599. Okay, this is the part that I really wanted to sing

  600. Look at the words first we'll just go through them and then we can sing them god of salvation

  601. You chased down my heart

  602. Through all of my failure and pride on a hill you created the light of the world abandoned in darkness

  603. This is the whole idea of you cannot deliver that which you are not willing to lay your life down for either in birth bangs

  604. Or in death mothers do this man

  605. Next one

  606. next verse sorry

  607. And as you speak a hundred billion failures disappear

  608. Where you lost your life so I could find it here if you left the grave behind so will I

  609. I can see your heart in everything you've done

  610. Every part designed in a work of art called love if you gladly chose to surrender so will I

  611. I can see your heart

  612. Eight billion different ways. This is the encounters we'll have eight eight billion different ways every precious one

  613. One more soul a child you die to save if you gave your life to love them. So will I

  614. Like you would again a hundred billion times, but what measure could amount to your desire?

  615. You're the one who never leaves the one behind. Yeah, so let's just sing it

  616. God of salvation

  617. You chased down my heart through all of my failure and pride

  618. On a hill you created

  619. The light of the world abandoned in darkness to die

  620. And as you speak

  621. A hundred billion failures disappear

  622. Where you lost your life so I could find it here

  623. If you left the grave behind you so will I

  624. I can see your heart in everything you've done

  625. Every part designed in a work of art called love

  626. If you gladly chose surrender so will I

  627. I can see your heart eight billion different ways

  628. Every precious one a child you died to save

  629. If you gave your life to love them, so will I

  630. I like you would again a hundred billion times

  631. But what measure could amount to your desire?

  632. You're the one who never leaves the one behind

  633. We make this our prayer. Oh god

  634. We want to learn how to self-give

  635. You gave everything sometimes it's easier to die it's harder to live and give

  636. Spirit of god, I just pray that

  637. as we set ourselves apart through both

  638. This teaching and through this song that you holy spirit would come upon us

  639. For your own sake for the sake of others who don't know you like this

  640. So we look forward to what awaits

  641. It says in luke 4 that from then on

  642. From that time on when it talks about what jesus did after the wilderness

  643. That's what we look forward to now. So we bless you about me. Thank you for this day

  644. Thank you for your kindness and your presence

  645. In jesus name, amen
