  1. I'll spend some time singing and worshiping again, okay, before we go into teaching.

  2. I want you to listen to what I'm going to read.

  3. This is from Luke chapter 7.

    Luke 7 chapter mention

  4. One of the Pharisees asked him to eat with him, and he went into the Pharisee's house

  5. and reclined at the table.

  6. And behold, a woman of the city, who was a sinner, when she learned that he was reclining

  7. at table in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabasca flask of ointment, and standing

  8. behind him at his feet, weeping.

  9. She began to wet his feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair on her head,

  10. and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.

  11. One of the things I want us to do together, because I believe he desires it from us,

  12. is can we, together as a people, without having Sheldon on the piano and others with instruments,

  13. can we sing to him?

  14. Why and how?

  15. Like this lady who doesn't even have a name in the Gospel of John.

  16. Simon's house, it's a very big house, I'm sure.

  17. He's a Pharisee, he's a rich guy.

  18. There are other people reclining at the table with Jesus, and it's not her place.

  19. She's not supposed to be there.

  20. But she somehow made her way into the house.

  21. Because there's only one thing, as you read down that passage, you'll see Simon in turn

  22. asks Jesus about something, and referring to this lady, to this woman, Jesus says, she

  23. has been forgiven much.

  24. And when you're forgiven much, you love much.

  25. I want us to worship him together, without instruments.

  26. But like this lady, like this woman who made her way in, somehow she wanted to be at his

  27. feet.

  28. Somehow she wanted to break the alabaster flask.

  29. Somehow she wanted to anoint him.

  30. It wasn't her place.

  31. If you ask her, she'll tell you there were so many eyes on me, so many people calling

  32. me names, so many people saying I shouldn't be there, so many people reminding of my past.

  33. Their eyes said a story that she didn't want to remember.

  34. And then it didn't matter for her, because she wanted to be at that place.

  35. She wasn't even in the front, from the back, behind him.

  36. She started weeping, because she was forgiven much.

  37. So can we worship him like that?

  38. Because she didn't need people playing in the background to worship him.

  39. For her, in the chaos, in the sound, in the...

  40. Jesus' attention, initially I'm sure, was on other things.

  41. But she had so much to give him that she said, I will do it regardless of what people think,

  42. regardless of what people say about me.

  43. So then, can we worship him as we sing this song together, giving him everything that

  44. we have, because he deserves it?

  45. You have been forgiven much.

  46. I have been forgiven much.

  47. And it doesn't matter who we are, where we are from, what we did, because at his feet,

  48. every slate is wiped clean.

  49. And at his feet, there is always a new start.

  50. And at his feet, there is new mercies, new grace that runs after us.

  51. Can we do it?

  52. So let's do it in the sincerest way you can.

  53. In the sincerest way I can, I want to do it.

  54. It won't look anything else, like anything else to the next person, but in your heart,

  55. you're embracing him.

  56. In your heart, you have him at his feet.

  57. In your heart, you're pouring out everything you have, your affection to Jesus, your embrace

  58. for him.

  59. Let's do it as a people.

  60. We have some time, so these guys will obviously, they have a mic and their sounds will be louder,

  61. I want your voice to echo.

  62. I want your voice to be lifted up so that we're doing it together.

  63. Let's do it, yeah?

  64. Worthy is the lamb who was slain, Holy, holy is he.

  65. Sing a new song to him who sits on Heaven's mercy seat.

  66. Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come.

  67. With all creation I sing praise to the King of Kings, You are my everything and I will adore you.

  68. Clothed in rainbows of living color, Flashes of lightning, rose of thunder.

  69. Blessing and honor and strength and glory and power be to you the only wise King.

  70. Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come.

  71. With all creation I sing praise to the King of Kings, You are my everything and I will adore you.

  72. Filled with wonder, awestruck wonder, At the mention of your name.

  73. Jesus, your name is power, Breath and living water,

  74. Such a marvelous mystery.

  75. Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come.

  76. With all creation I sing praise to the King of Kings, You are my everything and I will adore you.

  77. Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come.

  78. With all creation I sing praise to the King of Kings, You are my everything and I will adore you.

  79. Jesus, we know the way is clear, The veil is torn, we have access to your feet.

  80. Jesus, we come to worship, We come to pour our affection, our adoration.

  81. We come to pour it out over your feet, Jesus. Pour it out and we wipe it with our very hair.

  82. That's the kind of worship we pour out to you, Holy, holy, beautiful one, we worship you, beautiful one.

  83. How lovely are your feet, Jesus. How worthy are your hands, Jesus. How worthy are you, Jesus.

  84. Light of the world, you step down to darkness, You open our eyes, let us see.

  85. Pour out our praise and we'll be happy.

  86. Oh, you are all things, you deserve the glory.

  87. Day and night, night and day, let incense arise.

  88. Day and night, night and day, let incense arise.

  89. Day and night, night and day, let incense arise.

  90. You are worthy of it all.

  91. You are worthy of it all.

  92. For from you are all things, and to you are all things.

  93. You deserve the glory.

  94. You are worthy of it all.

  95. Jesus, Jesus, you are worthy of it all.

  96. For from you are all things, and to you are all things.

  97. You deserve the glory.

  98. I am forgiven

  99. because you are forsaken

  100. and I accept

  101. that there is no one like you

  102. there is none like you

  103. and you are all things

  104. and you are all things

  105. and you are all things

  106. Holy is the Lord Jesus

  107. the one who's worthy

  108. the one who's worthy

  109. to open the scroll

  110. the one who's worthy

  111. of all our praise

  112. and praise the one who's worthy

  113. holy, holy

  114. is the Lord God Almighty

  115. holy, holy

  116. is the Lord God Almighty

  117. who has an is and is to come

  118. Jesus, we love you

  119. oh how we love you

  120. and you are the one

  121. that our hearts adore

  122. Jesus, we love you

  123. oh how we love you

  124. you are the one

  125. our hearts adore

  126. and our affections

  127. our devotion

  128. poured out on the feet of Jesus

  129. our affections

  130. our devotion

  131. poured out on the feet of Jesus

  132. our affections

  133. our devotion

  134. poured out on the feet of Jesus

  135. we love you

  136. oh how we love you

  137. you are the one

  138. that our hearts adore

  139. and here we are to worship

  140. here we are to bow down

  141. here we are to say

  142. that you're our God

  143. cause you're all together worthy

  144. you're all together lovely

  145. all together wonderful

  146. to me

  147. oh here we are to worship

  148. here we are to bow down

  149. here we are to say

  150. that you're our God

  151. there is no other

  152. you're all together lovely

  153. you're all together worthy

  154. you're all together wonderful

  155. to me

  156. and I'll never know

  157. how much it cost

  158. to see my sin

  159. upon that cross

  160. and I'll never know

  161. how much it cost

  162. to see my sin

  163. upon that cross

  164. and Jesus you

  165. are our King

  166. Jesus you

  167. you alone are

  168. our King

  169. Jesus you

  170. Jesus you

  171. the one and only

  172. King

  173. Jesus Jesus

  174. Jesus you

  175. are my

  176. King

  177. hallelujah

  178. to the King

  179. hallelujah

  180. to the Lord of Lords

  181. hallelujah

  182. to the King of Kings

  183. hallelujah

  184. to the Lord of Lords

  185. Jesus

  186. we worship your Majesty

  187. Jesus

  188. we worship your Majesty

  189. Jesus

  190. we worship your Majesty

  191. Jesus

  192. we worship your Majesty

  193. I'm blessing

  194. and honor

  195. glory and power

  196. be unto your name

  197. Jesus

  198. all blessing

  199. all power

  200. glory and honor

  201. be unto your name

  202. be unto your name

  203. be unto your name

  204. Jesus

  205. all blessings

  206. Jesus

  207. all blessings

  208. Jesus

  209. So even as we stand Jesus

  210. those lines

  211. day and night

  212. incense arise

  213. let incense arise

  214. our it's

  215. we know

  216. that it is one thing to sing it

  217. and we mean it when we sing it Jesus

  218. but our lives

  219. are to be

  220. a living sacrifice

  221. and so as we sit or stand

  222. here but as we pour

  223. out our affection as that song

  224. said or as we

  225. give you honor here

  226. we say Jesus we want to

  227. live our lives

  228. as a living sacrifice

  229. so that day

  230. and night night

  231. and day

  232. incense will arise from my

  233. life from our lives

  234. from this embassy of Acts

  235. 29

  236. real lives dying

  237. to ourselves

  238. so that we can become

  239. like your son

  240. Jesus

  241. thank you accept

  242. what we are offering to you Jesus

  243. accept it

  244. because you deserve it

  245. and more thank you

  246. thank you

  247. So when I was in my eighth grade

  248. you get to pick

  249. either economics

  250. or computer

  251. computer programming

  252. so I'm going to expose Dawn here

  253. I had to start with that

  254. so

  255. I picked computers

  256. it was C programming for those of you

  257. know and I scored

  258. really bad in my exam was pretty bad

  259. as I come home and I tell

  260. everyone about it and obviously

  261. not great

  262. back in the day on Sundays we'll go from

  263. one city to another city

  264. to attend church

  265. so we have to bus it

  266. and every Sunday

  267. you wake up because

  268. you want to go to the service

  269. but when you get into the bus

  270. Dawn and I always fight for the side

  271. seat as we used to call it so window seat

  272. because that's what you're after

  273. getting to the church was secondary but being

  274. getting that seat was more

  275. important than anything else

  276. and so this is March or something

  277. I'm in you know he's in fourth grade

  278. whatever age that is

  279. I'm in eighth grade

  280. and so I get the side seat this week

  281. that particular week

  282. and I'm sitting down and I'm like I made it

  283. I got it so this whole week

  284. we were trying to you know I got what I

  285. wanted and so Dawn nudges me

  286. and says if you don't

  287. give me the side seat

  288. I'm going to shout out and let everyone

  289. know how much you scored for C programming

  290. I said what?

  291. He said I'll do it so I said no you can't

  292. do it so he said no I'll do it

  293. I said there's no way you can do it Dawn

  294. so he said 80

  295. no please

  296. so he goes on

  297. to almost blurt out how much

  298. I scored and I was very

  299. careful not to have anyone

  300. else know about it so I said it's yours

  301. side seat is yours so I

  302. moved over when I think about

  303. our childhood

  304. this happened quite a lot of times

  305. so people would come

  306. home and if they're visiting once every year

  307. or once every two years

  308. they would look at Dawn and I

  309. and they would always have really good things to

  310. tell about Dawn and then they'll look at me

  311. and they'll say is your mom not

  312. feeding you? Obviously I look different now

  313. but you know back

  314. in the day is your mom not feeding you?

  315. So I used to dread it

  316. but almost every single person

  317. who came at the very end would say

  318. something that I really used to enjoy because they

  319. would say but you're really mature

  320. for your age and I used to go

  321. wow I like that because that's

  322. about the only compliment I get you're

  323. way more mature than your age

  324. so I grew up

  325. the other thing before I forget

  326. another thing that Dawn used to do

  327. because it's all about

  328. exposing Dawn today another thing

  329. that he used to do is we used to have these

  330. bakeries you know and when you're

  331. standing waiting for a bus

  332. and if there's a bakery next door

  333. nearby Dawn would almost

  334. always drag

  335. my mom buy her sari

  336. to go into the shop

  337. and I used to dread all of this

  338. because to me this guy is making

  339. a whole lot of noise and a lot of drama

  340. that I dreaded and so I

  341. would almost separate myself from the entire family

  342. stay on this side because I didn't want to associate

  343. myself with Dawn that's how

  344. I grew up what's the point?

  345. The point is this

  346. growing up I somehow developed

  347. in me an impression

  348. that maturity

  349. is being serious

  350. and that maturity

  351. is acting like you're a grown up

  352. people would come and tell me

  353. you're really mature for your age

  354. and so that

  355. impression began to sink into

  356. my mind my being yeah

  357. when they say that it really means that

  358. if I act serious and if I'm not like

  359. Dawn then I'm mature

  360. because Dawn shouts, screams, cries

  361. all of that bad stuff

  362. I'm the good kiddo

  363. I just need to put up a good face, smile

  364. polite, gentle

  365. all of that stuff and I get these compliments

  366. and so you grow up

  367. and without knowing

  368. you have this impression in your mind

  369. that maturity is equal to

  370. not doing what Dawn did

  371. and it is

  372. being

  373. serious about life

  374. being serious and if you're serious

  375. you're mature

  376. and somehow we have the tendency

  377. to associate different things with maturity

  378. it depends on your background

  379. it depends on your upbringing

  380. when I say the word let's say

  381. spiritual maturity because there is

  382. physical maturity, there is emotional maturity

  383. if I say spiritual maturity

  384. if I say spiritual maturity all of you

  385. depending on your background

  386. depending on where you came from

  387. depending on what happened, your story

  388. you associate those two words with

  389. something

  390. for me it is this

  391. you associate these two words

  392. with something

  393. and that's what I

  394. want to talk about today, spiritual maturity

  395. so if you need a title

  396. the title is

  397. from milk to meat

  398. by the way if you're a vegan

  399. we can talk afterwards

  400. from milk to meat

  401. from milk to meat

  402. so what is

  403. spiritual maturity then?

  404. so spiritual maturity

  405. simply defined for us

  406. is not being serious

  407. it's not always having

  408. a straight face

  409. it's not any of those things

  410. Christian maturity

  411. simply is

  412. being Christ-like

  413. so you can laugh out the most in the room

  414. and you can be

  415. the most mature person in the room

  416. you can crack the best of jokes

  417. which Don doesn't do

  418. but you know, anyway

  419. and you can still be

  420. the most mature

  421. so Christian maturity is

  422. being Christ-like

  423. and so when you think about

  424. Christ-like, when I think about Christ-like

  425. we have to look at it as

  426. am I thinking like how

  427. Christ thinks?

  428. am I thinking

  429. like how Christ thinks?

  430. because if I think the way

  431. Christ thinks, then

  432. I can reason the way

  433. Christ reasoned

  434. and I can act

  435. or live out like how

  436. he lived out

  437. so thinking like Christ thinks

  438. is important

  439. we are a byproduct

  440. of our thinking

  441. go to Proverbs

    Proverbs 27 chapter mention

  442. chapter 27

  443. 23, Proverbs 23

    Proverbs 23:7

  444. verse 7, it says

  445. for as he thinketh in his heart

  446. so is he

  447. for as he thinketh in his heart

  448. so is he

  449. so the way I

  450. think forms and

  451. shapes the person I become

  452. the way you think

  453. forms and shapes the person you will become

  454. it doesn't matter what your age is

  455. you can be as little as

  456. Shiloh, as old as

  457. whoever else

  458. if you think like Jesus

  459. you will mature

  460. and mature and mature to become

  461. like Jesus

  462. if you think like yourself

  463. you will be yourself

  464. and to the extent

  465. to which you allow

  466. yourself to change

  467. so that your thinking is like

  468. the thinking of Jesus

  469. to that extent you will mature

  470. in other words

  471. maturity, spiritual maturity

  472. is the rate

  473. at which you are becoming

  474. like Jesus

  475. it is

  476. a progression, it is the rate at which

  477. I am becoming like Jesus

  478. so if you hang out with me

  479. and if all you are getting is more and more

  480. Derek, I am not

  481. mature

  482. if you hang out with me

  483. and you see things in my life

  484. that point to the person

  485. that I

  486. am to live and die for

  487. then I am mature

  488. people have to

  489. look at us and see Jesus

  490. in us

  491. that's why the Bible says

  492. be imitators

  493. be imitators of me

  494. be imitators of Christ

  495. Paul said it

  496. and what we are talking about

  497. absolutely not

  498. abstract, really tangible

  499. children

  500. look up to their parents

  501. and they do things

  502. as they see

  503. they imitate, it's normal for children

  504. to do that

  505. when I was a kid I would, papa, my dad

  506. he had his signature, I really used to

  507. love it

  508. and so once I found out that signature is pretty cool

  509. I am sure there are way better signatures

  510. people have

  511. better stuff elsewhere

  512. but for me, my dad's signature, I really loved it

  513. so even now at age 35

  514. I copied my signature from him

  515. I used the same signature

  516. I also had the

  517. pleasure and privilege

  518. to sign his signature on my report cards

  519. that gave me

  520. that gave me good experience

  521. but

  522. I liked it

  523. children see

  524. things

  525. that they look at and they go wow

  526. and they become that

  527. and the story I remember is

  528. growing up

  529. my mom told me a story

  530. about my dad

  531. one day

  532. and said hey he could have made a lot of money doing it

  533. but he did not do it that way

  534. because he has a heart of integrity

  535. as a 10 year old, 8 year old

  536. you listen to that

  537. and your mind is formed

  538. because now

  539. you have this

  540. teaching that has come to you, wisdom that has come to you

  541. that helps you understand

  542. it's not about money, it's about how you live

  543. we are a byproduct

  544. of what we have heard

  545. what we have understood

  546. that's what we become

  547. and so when I talk about

  548. spiritual maturity and we say

  549. from milk to meat

  550. you have to measure yourself

  551. and compare yourself to the

  552. thinking of Jesus Christ

  553. to the person of Jesus Christ

  554. and the more

  555. aware you are about what

  556. you are lacking

  557. the better it is

  558. because as I was preparing

  559. I was looking at my life

  560. and you don't have to search deep to find out

  561. where you are lacking

  562. it's right in front of your face

  563. so if I am aware that

  564. yeah Aba, these are the areas

  565. where I don't look like your son at all

  566. and then there may be areas

  567. where you are closer

  568. now you know

  569. where you have to train yourself

  570. where you have to work

  571. so let's proceed with that thought

  572. the original design

  573. for man still remains the same

  574. we are made in his image

  575. and we are supposed to be image bearers

  576. on earth

  577. which is why

  578. in Habakkuk chapter 2 verse 14 it says

    Habakkuk 2:14

  579. for the earth will be filled

  580. with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord

  581. as the waters cover the sea

  582. how will that happen?

  583. that is you and me and us

  584. populating earth

  585. with the knowledge, with the mature knowledge

  586. of Jesus Christ

  587. and living like his son

  588. Aba's son, Jesus Christ

  589. to a point where the earth will be flooded

  590. by his glory

  591. it happens through my life and your life

  592. and our lives

  593. Habakkuk chapter 2 verse 14

    Habakkuk 2:14

  594. and this

  595. theme is prevalent

  596. all through the New Testament

  597. you see Paul writing letters

  598. to different churches addressing this thing

  599. spiritual maturity

  600. spiritual maturity

  601. you got to grow up

  602. and he says there are things I really want to tell you

  603. but I can't tell that to you

  604. because you are not mature yet

  605. so you can actually take it further and say

  606. if I

  607. if I prevent myself

  608. from being mature because I like

  609. certain things certain way

  610. and I am not conforming

  611. to the image of his son

  612. then sometimes the father

  613. has to hold things back

  614. because you are not ready for it

  615. Paul says that

  616. I really want to share these things with you

  617. but I can't

  618. he actually proceeds to share it

  619. but I really can't share this

  620. with you because you are not ready for it

  621. and so for us

  622. man, if we can have this deep

  623. desire to

  624. mature

  625. it doesn't matter if you

  626. came to faith a year ago

  627. two years ago, if you have been in faith for 40

  628. years, 50 years, it does not matter

  629. all of us must have the same

  630. desire to mature

  631. the same

  632. desire to look more and more like

  633. Jesus, the same desire

  634. to grow up so that others can

  635. look at your life and they can say

  636. well look at Matt and Rachel

  637. I want to be like

  638. them

  639. look at Shireen, I want

  640. to be like her

  641. that's what we are supposed

  642. to be living for

  643. so that the world outside will look

  644. at something that you are doing

  645. the way you speak, the way you are

  646. and they will say that is something different

  647. there is something different

  648. about this and I want it

  649. at least I want to ask what it is

  650. all about and then you

  651. can proceed to share the

  652. life you draw your life from

  653. so I want to talk about a few things

  654. we don't have much time today

  655. let's see how far we get

  656. so the letter to the

  657. church in Corinth

  658. it was written in the year 55

  659. AD

  660. Paul was in that

  661. church in 50 AD

  662. five years prior to that

  663. it is when he ministered amongst them

  664. and a lot of people became believers in the city

  665. of Corinth and in 55

  666. AD he is writing this

  667. letter to them

  668. and so read it with me

  669. today be prepared to go through your bible

  670. we will go through different passages

  671. so that's

  672. if you don't have your bible

  673. open the bible app

  674. if you have your bible

  675. get your bible

  676. because we are going to go through different verses today

  677. first Corinthians chapter 3

    1 Corinthians 3 chapter mention

  678. 1-3

  679. first Corinthians chapter 3

    1 Corinthians 3:1–3

  680. verses 1-3

  681. but I brothers

  682. could not address you as

  683. spiritual people but as

  684. people of the flesh as infants

  685. in Christ I fed you with

  686. milk not solid food

  687. for you are not ready for it

  688. and even now you are not ready

  689. for it for you are still of the flesh

  690. read it again please

  691. but I brothers could not

  692. address you as spiritual people wow

  693. it's a church

  694. they have been

  695. around for a while

  696. he ministered amongst them

  697. if you read the first

  698. chapter you will find out that they even

  699. operated in the gifts of the spirit

  700. see what he is writing in chapter 3

  701. I can't

  702. address you as spiritual people

  703. but as people of the flesh

  704. as infants in Christ

  705. because that I fed you with milk

  706. not solid food for you are not ready for it

  707. and even now you are not

  708. ready for you are still of the flesh

  709. I am going to say a line that has been

  710. repeated at Acts 29

  711. way too often

  712. in a line I like to remind myself of

  713. a man of

  714. destiny is a man of choices

  715. a man of destiny

  716. is a man of choices

  717. a woman of destiny

  718. is a woman of choices

  719. there is not one person sitting

  720. under this roof

  721. who doesn't have choices

  722. to make

  723. there are options in front of you

  724. and you have to choose

  725. so when Paul is writing

  726. he is saying guys

  727. I can't even call you as

  728. spiritual people because you are still

  729. drinking milk

  730. and I can't give you solid food yet

  731. it's like a parent

  732. who is trying to communicate

  733. you've got to grow up only then can I

  734. give the rest to you

  735. and in life

  736. you have to, I have to

  737. if we are aware of the fact that

  738. man, we are

  739. a people of destiny

  740. a people who are supposed to

  741. head a particular way

  742. do particular things

  743. things that the father even before

  744. you were formed in your mother's womb

  745. had purpose for you

  746. but those things ultimately

  747. you inherit or you don't

  748. based on your choices

  749. a man of destiny

  750. is a man of choice

  751. a woman of destiny

  752. is a woman of choice

  753. so when I became born

  754. again as soon as I accepted

  755. Christ the spirit of God

  756. came to take residence

  757. in me

  758. but from that moment on

  759. my life

  760. it depends on what I choose

  761. sure I am found in Christ

  762. but am I living and

  763. leading a spirit led life

  764. that is on me

  765. I have the ability to choose

  766. at any instant

  767. if I want to follow the spirit

  768. or if I want to follow the flesh

  769. which is why I read that last line

  770. it says and even now you are not yet ready

  771. for you are still of the flesh

  772. so living of the flesh

  773. and not living by the spirit

  774. keeps me, keeps you immature

  775. living of the flesh

  776. and being led

  777. by the spirit

  778. is simply not worth it

  779. I remember using the exact same words last week

  780. it's not worth it

  781. these words keep ringing in my ears

  782. it's not worth it

  783. man living any other way

  784. is not worth it

  785. am I being led by the spirit

  786. in everything I do

  787. I like going for night drives

  788. and so I went on a night drive yesterday

  789. and interesting things happen

  790. when you go for a night drive

  791. and it's 1am or 2am

  792. and so there is a particular

  793. road that I like to drive in

  794. Xavier knows it, Don't know it

  795. a few people know about this

  796. so I am driving

  797. and it's pretty late

  798. and as I am driving I can see a cop car

  799. on that side

  800. he thinks he is hidden, he is not

  801. I can see him

  802. I am like, ok cool

  803. it's pretty late at night

  804. so I keep driving, keep driving

  805. and then I go and turn around

  806. because I don't have anything else to do

  807. I am just driving

  808. and so as I drive and I see this guy

  809. now I can see he is following me

  810. because he was parked

  811. and now I am turning around

  812. and going in a particular direction

  813. he begins to come after me

  814. and then I see the red flashes

  815. and the blue flashes, all of that

  816. when I was driving he said, what happened?

  817. why are you driving like this?

  818. you are driving as if you know I am here

  819. what are you hiding?

  820. I said I am not hiding anything

  821. did you drink? No

  822. ok tell me, so I had to explain to him

  823. what I was doing

  824. what's the point? When I know that there is a cop car

  825. right behind me, man, you have to know

  826. I know exactly what

  827. driving I am doing

  828. I know my lane, I know the speed

  829. I know I am always below 50

  830. because I can see 50 is the thing

  831. I am below 50, you can't catch me

  832. because I know you are behind me

  833. why am I saying this?

  834. it's amazing right?

  835. because you can be on the same road

  836. driving day or night

  837. and when you know that there is no one else watching

  838. you have a tendency to go

  839. I do it

  840. being aware of his spirit

  841. knowing that he is with you

  842. knowing that you can draw from his life

  843. allows you to

  844. live life differently

  845. and that's, it's simple

  846. everything that

  847. the father has for us is simple

  848. man does

  849. his best to complicate it

  850. but everything that the

  851. father has for you is simple

  852. for you to understand, simple for you

  853. to inherit, you don't need any

  854. PhD in anything for it

  855. why? because he started with

  856. fisherman

  857. he proved it

  858. if you have a desire

  859. you can, you don't need

  860. 10 steps to do it

  861. you don't need 50 ways you can do it

  862. you just need to be a son

  863. who is aware of the fact

  864. that his spirit is

  865. inside you and that

  866. he can help direct

  867. where you go, at what speed you go

  868. if you turn left, if you turn right

  869. it's all his direction

  870. so being spirit led

  871. allows you to mature

  872. you progress into the person

  873. you are supposed to be

  874. this year, there is one verse

  875. that I have read

  876. and it's opened my eyes

  877. to different things, I think I shared it

  878. probably a few weeks ago

  879. Hebrews chapter 4 verse 14

    Hebrews 4:14

  880. Hebrews chapter 4 verse 14

    Hebrews 4:14

  881. read it please with me

  882. since then, that's Hebrews chapter 4

    Hebrews 4:14

  883. verse 14

  884. since then, we have a great

  885. high priest who has passed

  886. through the heavens, Jesus

  887. the son of God, let us hold

  888. fast our confession

  889. I'll read it again, since then

  890. we have a great high priest

  891. who has passed through the heavens, Jesus

  892. the son of God, let us hold fast

  893. our confession

  894. Jesus passed

  895. through the heavens

  896. you have to understand that when it happened

  897. every power and

  898. principality tried to keep him down

  899. but because he is the holy

  900. one, because he is the anointed one

  901. as we sang today, because he is the

  902. risen one, because he is

  903. the one who is triumphant

  904. all the powers that tried to

  905. keep him down

  906. they were defeated, because he

  907. went past the heavens

  908. to sit at the right

  909. hand of the father, why is that

  910. scripture important in this light

  911. oh my goodness

  912. my flesh, your flesh

  913. my emotions, your emotions

  914. the stuff that we see and have all around

  915. us, they are consistently trying

  916. to keep us from operating in the

  917. spirit

  918. and we have someone who went

  919. before us, who showed

  920. us that there is a way you can live

  921. on earth, but live from

  922. the throne room

  923. there is a way, and if

  924. I can catch on to this

  925. if you can catch on to this

  926. life will look so different

  927. so different, because you are not

  928. living from here up

  929. this is why

  930. it says you are seated

  931. at the right hand of God, why is it

  932. significant to say that you are

  933. seated at the right hand of God when

  934. pavan is sitting right there

  935. there is a reason

  936. because if pavan knows

  937. that yes I am sitting right here, but

  938. I am actually also sitting at the right

  939. hand of the father, and that I am

  940. in the throne room, then everything

  941. that happens in your life

  942. you have a different perspective about it

  943. when you

  944. look at your future, you think of it differently

  945. when you think of your present

  946. you think of it in the lens

  947. that the father has given you

  948. so learn to live

  949. from the throne room

  950. another thing to keep in mind

  951. because

  952. when we live life, what happens is

  953. we have the knowledge of

  954. these truths, but one of the things that

  955. can sometimes pull us

  956. back is that

  957. this is not the atmosphere

  958. you live out, week in week out

  959. you are here for 2 hours, 3 hours

  960. and for 2 hours, 3 hours, it's

  961. look at this, pretty easy

  962. to think about Jesus

  963. pretty easy to sing

  964. praises to him, pretty easy

  965. to join with other saints

  966. but on a Thursday evening, 8pm

  967. you don't feel like this

  968. I don't feel like this

  969. if you feel like it, amazing

  970. I certainly don't feel like this

  971. Thursday, 7pm

  972. but this is when

  973. if I can learn

  974. that man

  975. it is possible for me

  976. to be

  977. operating from a different place

  978. from his throne room

  979. that I am one with him

  980. that his spirit lives inside of me

  981. then it changes

  982. everything that I am about

  983. then life begins to look different

  984. no one has to teach you

  985. because the spirit of God is telling you

  986. he is speaking to you and he is saying

  987. I am here, I am here

  988. can you see this differently

  989. and this is why, because on a Thursday evening

  990. 7pm, it's the mundane

  991. it's the stuff that you do all the time

  992. but can you find

  993. the divine in the mundane

  994. can you find the divine

  995. as you are folding your clothes

  996. no I don't do it, that side, sorry

  997. I don't want you to think of certain things

  998. that I don't do

  999. I would like to do it more

1000. there are things that I do

  1001. that's mundane

1002. I am just repeating it

1003. but if I am wise enough

  1004. to see the divine

  1005. presence of God

1006. in those things, those things

  1007. will change, the rhythm

  1008. will change

1009. and it is in fact these very things

1010. that sometimes cause you to forget

1011. the truth and the reality

  1012. of who you are

1013. can you find the divine

1014. and by that I mean the divine presence

  1015. of our father

  1016. of his spirit

  1017. in the mundane

1018. as you are doing your assignments, can you do it

1019. when you are doing your assignment

1020. you just want to finish your assignment

1021. I am talking about the Trinity Western students

  1022. not your assignment

1023. it's easy to forget things man

1024. when you are doing these things

  1025. it's repetitive

1026. and you just know exactly what needs to be done

  1027. you are on autopilot

1028. but that's when the Holy Spirit

1029. wants you to see those very things differently

1030. and if you open up your eyes

1031. and if you are willing to say

1032. teach me Abba, teach me

1033. to find the divine in the mundane

1034. life begins to look differently

1035. so I can be washing the dishes

  1036. which I don't particularly enjoy

1037. but I can now do that

1038. and while I am doing that

1039. now I can meet him

1040. while I am in it

  1041. if we become

1042. if we are aware of this

  1043. and we make changes

1044. simple changes but real changes

1045. to your life, my life

1046. it will look very different

1047. by the end of this year

  1048. very different

1049. so learn to live by the spirit

  1050. number one

1051. you mature from milk to meat

1052. by giving up childish ways

1053. by giving up childish ways

  1054. can you read

  1055. 1st Corinthians chapter 13

  1056. verse 11

  1057. 1st Corinthians chapter 13 verse 11

  1058. when I was a child I spoke like a child

  1059. I thought like a child

  1060. I reasoned like a child

1061. when I became a man I gave up childish ways

1062. when I became a man I gave up childish ways

  1063. I spoke like a child

  1064. I reasoned like a child

  1065. I reasoned like a child

  1066. I reasoned like a child

  1067. I said this before

  1068. your thoughts

  1069. and your reasoning

  1070. they translate into

  1071. your actions and words

  1072. what you speak

  1073. and what you do

  1074. is a result of

  1075. what you think

1076. It's just the way it is.

1077. And so if I can leave my childish ways, then I become mature, mature, mature.

1078. If you look at your life and you can detect, identify the areas where you're still operating

1079. like a child, then it will be easier for you, as soon as you understand it, to flip, to

1080. turn the switch on and say, oh, that's not how I am to be.

  1081. I'm different.

  1082. I'm built different.

1083. Inside of me is the presence of God, is the Holy Spirit.

1084. And so I have the ability to do this very thing differently.

1085. I will not be childish.

  1086. Story of Ahab.

1087. Ahab is the king of Israel.

1088. And he looks at the vineyard, Nabot's vineyard, and he wants the vineyard.

1089. So he goes and speaks to Nabot and says, I want your vineyard.

  1090. He's the king.

1091. Nabot says, no, I can't give you the vineyard.

  1092. What does he do?

  1093. He comes back.

1094. Ahab, the king of Israel, read this.

1095. You don't need to read this.

1096. I'll read it out loud.

  1097. First Kings 21, 4.

1098. So Ahab went home sullen and angry because Nabot, the Jesterite, had said, I will not

1099. give you the inheritance of my ancestors.

1100. He lay on his bed sulking and refused to eat.

1101. When you're childish, you have an entitled thinking.

1102. When you're childish, you have an entitled thinking.

1103. I was talking about this to someone the other day.

1104. When I said this, they're like, there's nothing wrong in being entitled.

1105. Because everything that God has for me, I'm entitled to it.

  1106. It's true.

1107. And it's right to have a thinking that, man, everything the father has is for you, is for

  1108. me.

1109. But at the same time, when you're a child, you begin to look at what's happening around

1110. you and you say, I'm entitled to these things.

1111. And so if I don't get it, I will react in a childish way.

1112. So the fact that you are entitled to certain things because what Christ did for you is

  1113. good.

1114. But when you find your life different from what you think is true, are you responding

  1115. childishly?

1116. Or are you looking at the gap and you want to figure out what the gap is and how the

  1117. gap can be bridged?

  1118. That's a different story.

1119. But when I look at May's life and I go, wow, look at May's life.

1120. Those things are really good.

  1121. Look at my life.

1122. I should be having it.

  1123. He is my father.

  1124. Why don't I have it?

1125. Why am I being treated this way?

  1126. It's wrong.

  1127. May has it.

  1128. I don't have it.

1129. Why is it that it's been 10 years now?

  1130. I don't have it.

1131. Now I enter into childishness.

1132. Or I can choose to leave my childish ways aside and say, I can't understand this.

  1133. I don't know the answers.

1134. And I am, there's much pain in my life.

1135. There's pain in my heart.

1136. I need to know why, why, why?

1137. There's a different way to go about it too.

1138. When you're childish, there is a tendency to have a sense of entitlement.

1139. The second thing about being childish is you're self-focused.

1140. You think about yourself way more than anyone else.

  1141. I've said this before.

1142. Can you walk into a room and only be aware of others?

1143. Oh, that would be, actually that would be the definition of humility if you can do that.

1144. If you can walk into a room filled with people and you're so forgetful about yourself, that is humility.

  1145. Humility is self-forgetfulness.

1146. It is when you're in the room, you're only thinking about everything, everyone else.

1147. Because in your mind, your spot is not at the top.

1148. Your spot is at the bottom.

1149. I heard this some time ago.

1150. In the kingdom, this kingdom is the only kingdom where when you need things, you don't reach higher, you go lower.

  1151. I loved it.

1152. This is the only kingdom where when you need things from him, you don't reach higher to grab it.

1153. You go lower to possess it.

1154. Because the one who went before you and the one who you're following, he is one who is so humble

1155. that he laid down everything, his divine form to take up the form of a man.

1156. And you and I can't access those very things until I decide that I will become the least in the room,

1157. that I will become the least in my family, that I will become the least wherever I go for the sake of his kingdom and for the sake of his people.

1158. And so having a child, having the childish sense of I deserve all of this.

1159. And if I don't get it, I'm going to react this way like a child.

1160. It'll keep you from spiritual maturity.

1161. And if you're self-focused, everywhere you go, you're thinking about me, me, me, me.

1162. I have to catch myself with this.

1163. This is one thing that I've, you know, I think about it so much that I should be practicing this better.

1164. But it's hard sometimes, man, when you're in a room.

1165. It's hard to be absolutely forgetful of yourself.

1166. Is it possible? I know it is possible.

1167. And I want to be, I want to be like that more and more.

  1168. It doesn't matter if it's work.

1169. It doesn't matter if it's home, if it doesn't matter, church, wherever you are.

1170. Can I become like Jesus, where I'm thinking about the other person more than me?

1171. That's why Jesus on the cross, take care of my mom.

1172. He's got the Lord of the whole earth, every sin on his shoulders.

1173. And he's not trying to say something noble.

1174. He's already thought about every one of us.

1175. But somehow in his mind, he's also thinking about his mom.

1176. Does that need to be said?

1177. He's not trying to say something.

1178. It's the life he has lived.

1179. It is the life he has lived that causes him to utter those words.

1180. Because he is not thinking of himself.

  1181. He's thinking of them.

1182. And if you and I can become this, become a people who increasingly we are aware of others,

1183. aware of his spirit more than we are aware of anything else.

1184. Now, we're progressing from milk to meat.

1185. Now, the Holy Spirit can do things with me that he has always longed to do.

1186. He's always desired to do these things.

1187. But I've been shut off.

1188. I have said no, because I resisted the knowledge.

  1189. And I resisted.

1190. This is just the way it is.

1191. Sometimes in your thinking, you may not use these words, but you are so used to the ways that you live,

1192. because you have accepted that that is the way you are.

1193. And if you would allow the Holy Spirit to show you that it is not the way you are, it

1194. is the way you've chosen to be or chosen to do, now there is possibility for that door

1195. to open and for the Spirit of God to come and lighten it up so that you can begin to

  1196. operate differently.

1197. This will do wonders in marriages.

1198. This will do wonders in relationships.

1199. This will do wonders because you're used to one way.

1200. And it is absolutely you because this is what you've opted for every day of your life.

1201. It's part of who you are.

1202. But one day you decide, no, no, no, no, no.

1203. As he's showing me this, I'm going to be different.

1204. And he's fling wide the door for the Holy Spirit to come into this room and lighten

1205. it up and then you begin to operate differently.

1206. Another thing, guys, as part of this, as part of being childish is bridle your tongue.

1207. This one organ in the body, it's got a lot of power, your tongue.

1208. If you can master your tongue, you now have control over your destiny as well.

  1209. Your tongue.

1210. It's amazing how we can, again, speak things that we know is in the gray.

  1211. It's not wrong.

  1212. It's in the gray.

1213. And I'm not talking about swear words.

1214. I'm not talking about telling bad stuff about other people.

1215. I'm talking about there is such righteousness and right way of thinking and speaking that

1216. the Holy Spirit has that we sometimes in some areas can separate ourselves from that

  1217. because it's OK.

1218. It's still as Christian is as everyone else.

1219. But if you and I begin to say, no, about this tongue, I want to speak it.

1220. I want to speak whatever I speak to really come from you.

1221. And if I don't have anything to speak, I would rather be silent.

1222. I don't want to speak things for the sake of speaking things.

1223. That's when I've seen this way too often when two people are in an argument and one person,

1224. if they know how to respond with a soft speech, the whole situation is melted away.

  1225. Proverbs says it.

1226. Where does it say it?

  1227. Proverbs chapter 15, verse 1 and 2.

    Proverbs 15:1

  1228. I will read it.

  1229. Proverbs chapter 15, verses 1 and 2.

    Proverbs 15:1

1230. A soft answer turns away a rap, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

1231. The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouths of the fools or fools pour

  1232. out folly.

1233. And it says in James chapter 3, verse 2.

    James 3:2

1234. So why am I speaking what I'm speaking?

  1235. It's out of James chapter 3, verse 2.

    James 3:2

1236. For we all stumble in many ways.

1237. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man.

  1238. Wow.

  1239. Talk about maturity.

1240. If anyone does not stumble in the way he speaks, he is a perfect man.

1241. If I can train myself to speak, only the things I need to speak, to speak with a soft answer

1242. is needed, to speak directly when direct conversation is needed, but to go about it the right way.

  1243. Things will change.

  1244. So control your tongue.

  1245. Master your tongue.

  1246. Next one.

1247. Train yourself to forget what lies behind and strain forward to what lies ahead.

1248. I really hope the Holy Spirit will give me the words as I explained this one, because

1249. it's so important for all of us.

  1250. I'll repeat it.

1251. Train yourself to forget what lies behind and strain forward to what lies ahead.

1252. Where am I getting that from?

  1253. Philippians chapter 3, verses 13 to 15.

    Philippians 3:13–15

1254. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it.

1255. But one thing I do, I forget what is behind me and I strain toward what is ahead.

1256. I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in

  1257. Christ Jesus.

1258. Forgetting the things from your past that tries to pull you down.

1259. What are the things, even as you hear this, things that happened in your past, things

1260. that you did or things that others did to you.

1261. Things that were spoken about you.

1262. Your parents treating you a certain way.

1263. Your siblings treating you a certain way.

1264. Things you thought you had, but then stuff happened and you lost it.

1265. If you ask yourself, have you forgiven?

  1266. You'll say, yeah, I've forgiven.

1267. But deep down in the corners of your heart, there are things that still pull you back.

1268. And everything that the Father has for us cries out loud.

1269. Would you please, please forget the things that are behind you?

1270. Would you please look ahead at what I have for you and strive to get there?

  1271. Would you please?

1272. Let me ask you a question.

1273. Who or what do you need to release?

1274. Who or what do you need to release from malice, from anger, from resentment, hurt, mistakes,

  1275. bitterness?

1276. Who or what do you need to release from malice, anger, resentment, hurt, bitterness, mistakes?

1277. Sometimes, and this is important, because you see this in sometimes how we think, there

1278. are things that happened and every time God wants to do something, you fall back on what

1279. happened and you say, well, because it happened, I have to be this way.

1280. Let me put a different two words on it.

1281. And it's going to sound rash, but it's important, victim mentality.

1282. When I use these words, I have to be careful because I'm never saying that the stuff that

1283. happened to you is okay.

  1284. Please understand, it's a big difference.

1285. The stuff that may have happened to you is wrong, but to dwell in it is wrong.

1286. You can get beyond it if you choose to.

1287. To accept that what happened happened and you have to deal with it.

1288. It's not forgetting, I won't ever think about it.

1289. No, you have to deal with it and you have to deal with it the right way and use people

1290. around you if you need help so that you can deal with those things the right way.

1291. But you've got to then at one point decide, this does not have power over me.

1292. This does not have any more control over me.

1293. I've seen, and that's why I'm saying this, I've seen people when words that the father

1294. has for them is released, but immediately their mind somehow goes back to the same bad

1295. thing that happened to them.

1296. It's so sad because that really happened.

  1297. It really happened.

1298. It really messed up that person's life, but somehow the devil has built a stronghold

  1299. all around it.

1300. And it is a stronghold because they default back to that place.

1301. And so every attempt to pull them out of it with things that the father has for them today,

1302. it almost seems an impossible task because they would rather cling on to what happened.

1303. They would rather cling on to what was told, what was said, what was done.

1304. And it's so difficult then.

1305. Can we become a people who will not allow things from our past to pull us back?

1306. And one person's measure of what happened to them could be very different from someone

  1307. else.

1308. And your story is your story.

1309. I'm not saying that it does not matter, and that's important because the Holy Spirit

1310. will never say that it doesn't matter.

1311. The Holy Spirit will bind up your broken heart.

1312. But as soon as he binds it up, he'll say like he did with, like the father did with Moses,

1313. like he didn't get in.

1314. At one point, you've got to move on.

1315. At one point, you've got to say enough is enough.

1316. I'm not going to dwell.

1317. I'm not going to pitch my tent here.

1318. Because if you pitch your tent in what was done to you, you can't break loose into the

1319. new things God has for you.

1320. Do not pitch your tent in the past.

1321. One way to get out of that place is to use words.

1322. One way to get out of that place is to use words.

1323. Use words to yourself to say, yes, yes, that happened.

1324. But I will not remain in that place.

  1325. Start with that.

1326. Then move it, move from that place to talking to Anile and talking to Betty and saying,

1327. this is such a stronghold in my life and it has prevented me all this while.

1328. But now I come because now I have professed and have declared that this cannot have an

1329. effect on me and I resist to be pulled back by this.

1330. Now I need you guys to hear this because I am committing that I'm choosing a different

1331. way of living whereby I'm not going to give anything from my past the power to pull me

1332. back and I want you Anile, I want you Betty to listen to me.

1333. Now you've spoken it to two other people.

1334. You don't know the power of words.

1335. It's not that they pull you towards your future.

  1336. No, no, no.

1337. This is what you believe because what you believe you proclaim.

1338. So if you never proclaim these things, maybe you haven't believed it right.

1339. Because if you really believe it, the words will come out and you won't hesitate saying

  1340. it either.

  1341. I have five or 10 minutes.

1342. So next one, embrace correction and teaching to come to a place of maturity.

1343. Embrace correction and teaching to come to a place of maturity.

1344. Colossians chapter one, verse 28.

1345. He is the one we proclaim admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom so that

1346. we may present everyone fully mature in Christ.

1347. Much loud children as we are used to saying here, very teachable.

1348. Much loud children are very teachable because you know the heart of your father.

1349. And if you know the heart of your father, you will go about receiving correction either

1350. directly from him or through his people very differently.

1351. This is why there are equipers in the body.

  1352. Let's read it.

1353. Ephesians chapter four, verse 13.

1354. Every time I say let's read it, we don't have time for you to read it.

1355. So just listen to me please.

1356. Ephesians chapter four, verse 13.

1357. And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers to

1358. equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ until we

1359. all attain the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the son of God to mature manhood.

1360. So for me to be spiritually mature, for you to be spiritually mature, we have to be connected

1361. with the equipers in the body.

1362. If I choose to separate myself, to distance myself, to disconnect myself from the equipers

1363. that the Holy Spirit has placed in the body, then I am choosing not to be mature.

1364. And I like it when the Holy Spirit reminds you, tells you, teaches you, hey, this is

  1365. wrong.

1366. I have so many examples where he corrects me, where he corrects you, I'm sure.

1367. But can I hear it and change?

1368. I remember this, I remember this, some time ago, I can't tell you the place, but I'm

  1369. sitting somewhere and it's a presentation and I'm in a place where I don't belong.

1370. And I'm sitting there and there is someone, you know, sometimes when you go, and this

1371. is not church related, sometimes when you go for events and stuff like that and you

1372. to speak, it's great, you like it, you enjoy it.

1373. And I remember sitting at this place, it's a big, huge auditorium, and there is someone

1374. who is ahead of me and he is presenting.

1375. And I'm sitting there literally with the leg on my leg.

1376. And I'm the guy who's supposed to go next.

1377. And in my mind, and the guy who is doing this is my age, most of the guys there are much

1378. older, but the guy who is just ahead of me, he is my age.

1379. And I distinctly remember, leg on my leg, my arm like this, and I'm like, this dude,

1380. man, he doesn't need to use a paper, he can just speak.

1381. That's the thought in my mind.

1382. He doesn't need to use a paper to speak, he can just speak.

1383. Why is he like this?

1384. Why is it that he's making a big deal of it?

1385. He should be doing this better, it's not good enough.

  1386. Such a setting, man.

1387. You're using a paper for such a setting like this?

  1388. Pretty bad.

1389. All of these thoughts go through your mind, it did for me, in a matter of five seconds.

1390. And now it's my turn.

1391. I go up, and for the first time in my life, in a setting like that, I falter.

1392. I didn't have any sheets, because I'm better, because I want to be better, and I falter.

1393. And I sink so deep that I come back and I sit on that chair, and I'm like, oh, I know

  1394. exactly what happened.

  1395. Derek, you were so...

1396. Everything that you shouldn't have, you did.

1397. And it all happened in a span of five, six seconds, guys.

1398. So when it happened, I obviously realized what had happened.

1399. And I remember going to the father and saying, I messed up big time.

1400. You gave me an opportunity, and you put me in a place where I don't belong.

1401. And as soon as I was there, I took on a form that wasn't mine to ever have.

1402. And I started, I got my leg on my leg, armchair, and I'm looking, literally grading people

  1403. for what they're doing.

1404. And then I am up there, and I feel like bad.

1405. But as soon as that happened, it was very difficult for me when it happened.

1406. As soon as it happened, there was also this other thing, that learn.

  1407. Learn from this.

  1408. Never again.

  1409. And so what?

1410. Since then, every time or every place I go, there is this big realization, Derek, never

  1411. get ahead of yourself.

1412. Derek, learn humility, learn how to think, learn self-forgetfulness, learn understanding.

1413. Because some of the things that are said in the Bible is not just for the church.

1414. It is to be applied outside of the church too.

1415. And so why am I sharing this?

  1416. It's deep for me.

  1417. It's inside me.

1418. This is a big lesson, because you don't know how bad it felt.

  1419. Only I know.

  1420. It felt super bad.

1421. But I come out of that, and I'm a better man for that.

1422. Because I will not, by the help of the Holy Spirit, make the same mistake ever again.

  1423. What is the point?

  1424. Be teachable.

  1425. Be teachable.

1426. Because if I use that and say, well, that was something else, don't worry, then I'm

  1427. not teachable.

1428. The Holy Spirit can't teach me anymore.

1429. I've shut that door to him.

1430. Sometimes he gets your attention by having you do things and then recognize, oops, what

  1431. did I just do?

1432. But once you get a handle of, I made a mistake, Aba, can you teach me?

  1433. I'm willing to change.

  1434. Then everything changes.

1435. The next two things, I'm not going to explain this.

1436. You can write it down because we don't have time.

1437. Being unskilled in the word of righteousness leads to immaturity and dullness of hearing.

1438. Being unskilled in the word of righteousness leads to immaturity and dullness of hearing.

1439. Yes, being unskilled in the word of righteousness, meaning the word, leads to immaturity and

  1440. dullness of hearing.

1441. And a scriptural reference for that would be Hebrews 5, 13 and 14.

  1442. Hebrews 5, 13 and 14.

  1443. Yeah.

1444. I have a couple of slides here for you that I want you to, you can take a picture or ask

  1445. Brandon later.

1446. Brandon, if you can bring it up.

1447. Here are some questions for you to ask yourself.

1448. We won't go through them today, but you can, if you're serious about this, you can take

1449. the time to think through it.

  1450. Questions to think of.

1451. This has been used at Axe 29 and before.

1452. Are you known as someone who models love as a prime value?

1453. Are you someone who models love as a prime value?

1454. Are you demonstrating high levels of grace and kindness in your response?

1455. This is when people treat you bad.

1456. One thing about maturity guys is that when everything is sunshine, it's easy to be mature.

1457. When things are difficult and things are going hard, that is when your maturity is tested.

1458. So when it's difficult, are you demonstrating high levels of grace and kindness in your

  1459. response?

1460. Using your temperament and personality, are you able to exert the fruit of self control?

1461. Are you sincere, deeply to yourself and honest about learning?

  1462. Next please.

  1463. Thanks Aaron.

  1464. You're taking everyone's time away.

  1465. Just kidding.

  1466. Go for it, bro.

  1467. Next one.

1468. Are you able to move beyond your own frustration to deliver God's work over?

1469. Sometimes you are frustrated with what's happening to you that you find yourself at a place where

1470. you don't want to receive anything for anyone anymore.

1471. And it prevents the father from using you for someone else's sake.

  1472. Number six.

1473. Do you move in the opposite spirit to what comes against you on a spiritual or human

  1474. level?

1475. There's a person who always does this.

  1476. Can you recognize?

1477. And if they are trying to be harsh to you, can you move in an opposite spirit?

  1478. What does that mean?

  1479. They're harsh to you.

  1480. You're gentle to them.

1481. And if you can, if you can allow God to show you these things in your life, it begins to

  1482. change quickly.

1483. Do you bounce back quickly after attack?

  1484. Really important.

  1485. Happened with Elijah.

1486. How much time do you need to bounce back after something happened?

  1487. Can you be trusted?

1488. Do you do things well without accountability being imposed from above?

  1489. Next slide please.

1490. Do you react to events and people instead of responding to God?

1491. This is an important one.

1492. When things happen, you would rather talk about it to someone else before you talk to

  1493. the father.

1494. When things happen, you would rather first talk to someone.

1495. I need to talk to someone.

1496. I need to get this out of my system.

1497. I need to share this with someone before you talk to the father.

1498. A mature son or a daughter would run to the father and say, hey, here's what happened.

  1499. I need help.

1500. And then you can share with others as you need to.

1501. Do you have a strategy for difficult people in situations that you're placed to deal with?

1502. You must have a strategy for the same stuff that every time you know pulls you back.

1503. You must have a strategy from the Spirit of God to go and attack it and say, you were

1504. successful in doing this to me.

  1505. Not anymore.

1506. Do you come up with platitudes and repetitions?

1507. I talked about this already.

1508. Do you inspire or encourage and nudge people to a place of rest from their problems?

1509. When people come and share stuff with you, is your immediate reaction, what do you have

1510. about that I can give?

1511. Or is it anything else?

  1512. And the last set.

1513. Do you withhold love, acceptance, or approval?

1514. You know when that matters more?

1515. When the person you think doesn't deserve it.

1516. You have to see these questions in that light.

1517. Why would I withhold anything good to sin?

  1518. No.

1519. But if sin begins to treat me bad, can I do this?

  1520. That's the question.

1521. When someone is dealing with you wrong, can you still do it?

1522. Do you habitually see the negative or problems before you see the positive?

1523. Can you see the first and second image that God wants to show people, show about people

  1524. in situations?

1525. This one is important because if you can't see the second image that the father is showing

1526. you about someone, then you can have the best discernment there is, but you can't be useful

  1527. to God.

1528. You have to see what's happening and then you have to also see what the father is showing

  1529. you about the person.

1530. Because sometimes the father shows you what's happening today in them or with them, with

  1531. the situation.

1532. You know it, but you're so caught up in what has been shown that you resist wanting to

1533. hear the second picture that the father wants to show about the person or the situation.

1534. And the last one, is rejection still a strong influence on your personality?

1535. If you want these slides, ask Brandon.

1536. He can send it to you or ask me, I can send it to you.

1537. But I would highly encourage that you spend time thinking about it.

1538. So Aba, we come to you.

  1539. We thank you.

1540. Thank you that you're having us move from one place of maturity to another.

1541. And as Remy was saying before, all these weeks Aba, you're taking us somewhere where you

  1542. want us to go.

1543. We want to follow you into those things.

1544. So Spirit of God, we want to be a people who are led by you.

1545. We want to be a people who leave our childish ways.

1546. Open my eyes and our eyes to things that you want us to see where we've gotten so used

1547. to our ways of living that we are resisting you in those areas.

1548. We don't want to be like that, Holy Spirit.

1549. Help us to choose differently.

1550. Help us to refuse to use repetitions and platitudes, but help us to now cling on to the new things

  1551. you're showing us.

1552. This I ask for all of us.

  1553. In Jesus name, Amen.

  1554. Cool guys.

1555. Are there going to be people?

1556. So if you need prayer, come up.

1557. There will be someone to pray with you.
