Our Example for Joyful Living

Philippians chapter 2.

Philippians 2 · chapter mention

The title of the message this morning is Our Example for Joyful Living.

We've started a series called What It Means to Walk in the Joy of the Lord.

And we welcome you that are over in the overflow.

Praise the Lord for that.

But I'm excited because last week we looked at the joy of unity.

And we said the key to getting the gospel out to the community, to our, hey, to our region, is seeing that there's a church that has a love for God and a love for people.

That's it.

That's who we are.

That's our vision.

Loving God and loving people.

And we said that the key that Paul's writing to the church at Philippi, he's writing to probably the best church out of all the churches because he mentions it over and over.

It was one of the churches, actually the only church listed in name that was consistently and continually helping Paul wherever he was.

So it was truly Deedra, a missionary church.

The way it reached out and helped Paul on his missionary journeys.

So today, though, and we saw that verses 1 through 4 last week, today we're going to look at verses 5 through 11, and the key is one word, humility.

Paul is saying, if you're going to be unified, you've got to be humble.

Because the, should I say, the antagonistic attitude of wanting your own way and I'm wanting my way is not a humble attitude.

Amen?

And that's what disrupts unity.

Because instead of, as Doc, boy, that was powerful, Dr.

Carr, what you said.

It wasn't about Dr.

Carr, who happens to be one of the best surgeons in the country, pediatric surgeons.

He really is.

But it was not about him.

It's not about his abilities and his giftedness.

It's all about God.

Amen.

And so this is the whole proposition that God is saying through Paul to the church at Philippi.

Because they were starting, every once in a while, we had this thing, they were starting to get a little proud.

And he was reinforcing the key to unity is humility.

In fact, I was reading.

How many of you remember 9-11?

We all remember it.

I was pulling in the University of Liberty University when I got the call from the president.

I remember it vividly.

Well, there was also a lady named Peggy Noonan, who was a news reporter.

The weekend following September 11, 2001, syndicated columnist and former presidential speech writer, Peggy Noonan, drove to Lower Manhattan to witness the relief effort taking place at Ground Zero.

She found herself focusing on the convoy of trucks filled with rescue workers coming from their 12-hour shifts.

The men in the trucks were construction workers, electrical workers, police, emergency medical workers, firemen.

It was a procession of not so rich and famous.

Nonetheless, these New Yorkers were celebrating.

Hey, they were they were the stars at this time.

They were the celebrities at this time in a human drama more significant than any Broadway act.

Noonan joined the crowd, the growing crowd of onlookers cheering the workers with shouts, God bless you, God bless you, God bless you, we love you.

They clapped and blew kisses.

Noonan writes, I looked around me at all of us who were cheering and saw who were there.

Investment bankers, orthodontists, magazine editors.

In my group, a lawyer, a columnist, and a writer.

He had been the kings and queens.

Here had been the kings and the kings, the kings and the queens of the city of New York, respected professionals in a city that respects its professional class.

And this night we were nobodies.

We were nobodies.

We were so useless.

All we could do was applaud the somebody's.

Wow.

Wow, wow, wow.

The reversal of pagan communion this witness is nothing less than a foreshadowing of what Jesus talks about in these next few verses.

A day is coming when the first shall be last and the last shall be first.

May we strive to put Christ and others first in our lives.

By doing this, we can keep the church unified and the church growing.

It's not about us, it's about Him.

But for us, what did we say last week as we walked out of here?

What was that one word?

Others, say it out loud.

Others.

Others, not us.

Many times, as believers, we come to a place where we get very discouraged, very disgruntled, and very sometimes disillusioned by people.

If you are putting your faith and you are following example of people, I'm gonna help you right now.

You will be very disappointed.

And you will be very disillusioned.

Why?

Because all of us are rotten, no good sinners saved by God's grace.

All our righteousness is as filthy rags.

Isaiah 64, 6.

There's none that seeketh after God.

There's none that understandeth.

Romans 3.10.

We're just, hey, hey, we are sinful by our nature.

We're born with people, and except from a radical transformation by the power of the Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ our Lord, we are rotten, no good.

Sorry, I know you didn't want to hear that.

But that's the truth.

That's what scripture teaches.

We will let you down.

As your pastor, I will let you down.

As a member, you will let me down.

But the key is it's not about me, it's not about you, it's about him.

Not I, but Christ, Galatians 2.20.

So we see how important it is.

In fact, Psalms 118, verse 8 says, it's better to put your trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.

Can I get an amen?

Let me say that again.

It's better to put your trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.

Psalms 118 verse 9, it's better to put your trust in the Lord than to put your confidence in the government, which stands for, hey, every politician, every government organization, they're not the answer.

Psalms 118:9

Jesus is the answer.

And boy, do we know that today.

So, because of our confidence and pattern for living to be in Christ, and not me and Paul pins Philippians 2.5.

Look at it.

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.

Susan was reading from the NIV, and it says, Let this attitude be in you.

In other words, we have to have the right attitude toward ourselves, and then we have to have the right attitude toward God.

Amen.

And the attitude toward ourselves is very simple.

It's only by God's grace that we are who we are.

Thank you for the grace of God.

Can I get a hearty amen?

For by grace are we saved through faith, not of ourselves.

It is a gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast.

But then we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God before ordained that we should walk in them.

Our attitude after we're saved should be a right attitude to God, that it's not my will, but thy will be done.

That I am to please the Father, not myself.

Can I get an amen?

So that's exactly what he's talking about.

And the key is what does the mind of Christ, what kind of attitude should we have?

Now, I gave you a lot of verses.

I'm not going to go over all of them, but you need to take those home because every verse under the introduction deals with the mind of Christ and what kind of mind scripturally he had.

For example, what does it mean to have the mind of Christ?

How did Jesus think?

What was his attitude?

First of all, in Zechariah 9.9, his reputation was not his priority.

His reputation was not his priority.

That's what I appreciated, what Dr.

Carr said.

He said, Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion.

Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem.

Behold, thy king cometh unto thee.

He is just and having salvation.

And then the last phrase in that verse blows my mind.

Lowly and riding upon a donkey and upon a coat, the foal of a donkey.

Now here's the King of Kings.

Just entered Jerusalem on a donkey.

He didn't come in through Jerusalem with the beautiful four or five white horses pulling the finest chariot.

He came in on a donkey.

His reputation of love and godliness and miracles that he did was tarnished by what?

Those who attacked him and discredited him and said all malicious false things about him.

He wasn't just held as the king of kings.

He was, hey, shouted out as a murderer, as a thief, as a criminal, and ultimately crucified as that.

Jesus wasn't worried about his reputation.

What about you?

What about me?

What does our reputation mean to us?

But also he was humble.

Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, for I'm meek and lowly in heart, and you shall find rest unto your souls.

Ooh, what a beautiful word.

In other words, here's what he's saying.

And I love Luke 22, 27.

Don't miss this.

For whether is greater, he that saith, excuse me, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serves, is not he that sits at meat.

Oh, the prominent guy sitting at the head of the table, he's the one.

Jesus said, Oh no, uh-uh.

No.

He said, But I am among you as he that serves.

And then he says, Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, for I'm meek and lowly in heart.

The mind of humility and the attitude of serving was the mind of Christ.

The attitude of humility and the mindset of and the attitude of serving was the mind of Christ.

He was humble, he was meek, he was kind, he was caring, and he gave.

He wasn't interested about himself, he was interested about others.

Wow, what a beautiful, beautiful picture.

He was obedient.

If we are to have the mind of Christ, then we too must be responsive and obedient to the Lord and to the Word.

Are you obedient to the Word?

That's what matters.

If you love me, what?

What does it say?

Keep my commandments.

He was compassionate.

He had compassion on people everywhere he went.

He was forgiving.

And I love this one.

He was relentless in doing the work of God.

Luke 2.49.

He said unto them, How is it that ye sought me?

Did you not know that I was about my father's business?

Wow.

About our father's business.

And what is our father's business here?

Three things: worship on Sunday, discipleship on Wednesday, and serving in the area of your giftedness and your talents during the week.

Serving, doing something for the glory of God.

That's being about the Father's business regularly and consistently.

He was relentless in doing that.

He was relentless in challenging others to go to the next level.

Remember the young rich ruler, bless his heart, he said, Why don't you sell everything?

Give it away.

Hey, give it to the poor and then come follow me.

Take up your cross daily and follow me.

Now, he wasn't just lamblasting him about his wealth, but what he knew, his wealth was his God, so he challenged him right where his heart really was.

But he said, Why don't you just follow me?

I'm challenging you to come follow me.

When you and I get saved, we are challenged immediately to make Jesus Christ his Lord, and you'll see that in a few moments.

We are challenged to be like Christ.

I am crucified with Christ.

Nevertheless, I live.

Yet not I, but Christ liveth in me.

In the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me.

Galatians 2, 20.

Whoo.

And then we see he was reverent and prayerful.

He told Peter, I have prayed for thee, that thy faith failed not.

And when thou converted, strengthen thy brethren.

Aren't you glad to know that God is praying for you?

Can I get an Amen?

God is praying for us.

What a tremendous insight.

What a tremendous.

And he was surrendered to the will of the Father.

He rescued those in need and loss.

Luke 8, Luke 4, 18, the Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor.

He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives and recovering of the sight to the blind, to set at liberty those that are bruised.

We're to win the lost at all cost.

That's why we do mission, medical medical mission.

It's work.

And we go and we train pastors to start churches.

We're interested in reaching those countries with the gospel.

You realize 30% of your budget, over$450,000 budget last year, went to missions.

Can I get an amen?

Let's give Jesus a clap offering.

Unheard of.

Unheard of.

That's why God's blessing the church.

We're doing it his way.

It's not about us, it's about others.

Can I get an action?

The reason we get 91 acres, it's not about us, it's about others.

That we can reach this whole region with the gospel through activities on that land.

That's what it's all about.

And he was righteous and pure.

And he was a servant to others.

So, if we're to be like Christ, if we're to have the mind of Christ, what was it?

Let's look at Christ real quick.

Number one, he was the sovereign savior.

Look at verse 6, who being in the form of God thought it not robbery to be equal with God.

There's two words here, being and form, that they're used.

One is who parko, being, and what it means there, it means the very essence of which cannot be changed.

In other words, we're humans.

We can't change that.

That DNA that you were born with, you can't change that.

That is who you are.

Amen.

I don't care who you are.

Hey, you can't change your DNA.

And there's no one in this building like you but you.

And some of y'all say, that's right.

Thank God.

Yeah.

Thank God there's not two of me.

I know what you're thinking.

Amen.

Right.

My wife is too.

Amen.

So what do we see here?

The essence.

That first word means the essence.

It can't be changed.

For God, hey, Jesus could not be changed, not being God.

He was as much God as God ever has been, ever will be.

But then that morphy, the other word, is constantly changing.

Well, when he became man, then he took on what?

That changing aspect.

But he was God man.

His deity never changed, but his outward appearance as man did change.

Is that not normal to all of us?

We're human.

We have our own DNA.

But we change.

We go from a baby to an adult and ultimately to an older person.

We change outwardly, but inwardly we can't change that DNA who we are.

Amen.

Jesus could not be changed from being God, but yet he was man.

And that is exciting to me because that means he was touched by the infirmities of all that we go through.

He knows everything we go through when you go through the trying times, the troubled times, the discouraging times.

He's been there.

He's been through them.

He's been through the same pain that you're going to go through, and he knows how to lead you through it victoriously.

He was human as much as we are.

Every feel that you have, he had.

Every anguish that you had, he had.

But that's why at the end of Hebrews 4, we can come boldly into the throne of grace that we might receive mercy and grace in time of need.

Can I get an amen?

So, he's the sovereign savior.

But he's more than that.

He's God.

John 10, 30 through 33.

You got, well, in the beginning was the word.

The word was with God.

And the word was God.

Before anything was, he was with God.

And after everything will be, he still will be with God.

And then I'm a Father of one.

John 10, 31, then the Jews took up stones against the stone.

You know why they wanted, they couldn't stand Jesus?

Because he claimed to be God.

Verse 32, Jesus answered them, Many good works have I showed you from my father, for which of those works do you stone me?

In other words, he says, You're stoning me because I claim to be God.

But guess what?

I am.

I am that I am.

I am God.

Verse 33, the Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not, but for the blasphemy.

And because thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

Well, I've got good news for you.

He was man, but he was God.

So we see that.

We see that right here.

Unbelievable.

Jesus is being and is the form of God.

Jesus is equal with God.

Look at verse 7.

Second thing, we see the servant Savior.

Not only was he the sovereign Savior, but he's the servant.

Look, being made himself of no reputation, took upon him the form of a servant and was made in the likeness of men.

Wow.

Jesus made himself of no reputation.

Now the Greek text translate the word of that little of no reputation, kineo, kineo.

And it literally means to totally empty himself.

It means to take a bucket of water and totally pour it all out.

He emptied himself of everything.

In fact, the Greek word there means made void.

It means that what he had in heaven was not effective here on earth.

And what was that?

Two things.

He emptied himself of his divine glory.

He emptied himself, number one, of his divine glory.

I mean, he had the glory of God.

He was in the presence of the glory of God every day.

He was with God.

He was God.

I mean, he experienced that.

Oh, but yet he came right here and he was temporarily veiled in his humanity.

Men, now, while he was human, saw brief examples of that divinity.

They would see him in the love of God, the miracles of God.

They would see some of it.

But you know what his own family said about him?

His own family never saw the revealingness of him being God.

In fact, here's what they said in John 7.5.

For neither did his brethren believe in him.

They didn't believe he was God.

They just believed that he was their brother.

His brother.

Oh, that's just my brother.

Huh?

Who do you think you are, Jesus?

You're telling people you God.

What's wrong with you?

What's wrong with you?

They didn't believe it.

But then look what else he did.

He emptied himself of his eternal riches.

Well, go back.

I want you to see John 17 5.

You need to see that also in John 7 5.

There's another verse.

Jesus said this of himself.

And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thy own self, with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

In other words, he said, as he's getting ready to go back to heaven, I can't wait to be restored in the glory that we had before I left heaven and became a man.

Do you see that say amen?

That's important.

So we see that he had left that glory.

He had denied himself of all the glory of heaven to come to earth so that he could be our Savior.

What a joy.

What a sacrifice.

And by the way, it was a joy to him looking unto the author and finisher of our faith who for the joy set before him, Hebrews 12.2.

So we see this.

But then we see, secondly, he emptied himself of his eternal riches.

He gave up the riches, the blessings, the adoration, and the worship in heaven to receive what?

To be despised and rejected by men.

Look at this.

Matthew 20, 28.

Even as the Son of Man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister and to give his life a ransom for many.

And then look at 2 Corinthians 8 9.

Man, this is good.

For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

Now, I got this morning early.

I was drinking and I read that and I was reading through this as I always do in Sunday mornings, going back over all that studied and just making it so real in my own heart.

And I started thinking about, hey, and I just wrote this down.

I wrote it down this morning.

He was poor.

He became poor so that we could become rich.

He became rejected so that we could be received by God the Father.

Oh, he was despised so that we could be exalted.

Oh, he had no home.

He had no place to lay his head so that we could receive the matchings in heaven.

Oh, he was bruised and beaten so we could be blessed.

Oh, he was wounded for our transgressions so that we could worship God the Father.

He was persecuted so that we could praise him and have peace with him.

Wow.

That's what he gave up.

Oh, he gets better.

Got some more.

Jesus was born in a buried stable.

He was laid in a borrowed manger.

He used a pulpit that was a borrowed boat.

He fed thousands with a borrowed lunch.

Hey, he slept in a borrowed bed.

He rode as a king on a borrowed donkey.

He observed the last supper in a borrowed room.

He was mocked as a king in a borrowed robe.

He was buried in a borrowed tomb.

Preach.

Now that's what he gave up.

So that we could receive his glory.

God the Father's glory.

Is that not good?

Is that not good?

The glory of divinity.

He gave it all.

His divine rights for us without surrendering, his divine abilities, he gave it all.

He took the lesson here is Jesus was a servant.

And he wants us to see this lesson.

There are some great lessons here that impress not just myself or you, but the Lord.

In fact, you know what I saw here, and I wrote this another note to me.

There are some great lessons for us here, and here's what it was.

When we try to impress others, now listen to me.

And this is good.

When we try to impress others, and this is so true, this is not in God's character.

When you and I spend all our time trying to impress others, that's not what God's all about.

Amen.

It's not what it's about, folks.

Not I, but Christ.

Man, that that spoke to me.

The Lord whom we are to serve came and served us.

The Lord whom we are to love came and loved us.

The Lord who we are to adore came and adored us.

The Lord that we are to seek came and sought us.

Amen.

That is the grace of God.

Thirdly, he was the sacrificing Savior.

And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient unto the death.

Galatians 3.13.

When you look through the doctor's report of the crucifixion, the punishment of the cross was so horrible.

It was only designed for robbers, assassins, rapists, and murderers.

Can you believe that?

The suffering of crucifixion was intense, especially in hot climates.

Inflammation and bleeding of jagged wounds produced traumatic fever that was aggravated by the sun strained on the body and thirst, unbelievable.

The wounds from nails swell around the nails.

Torn tendons and nerves produce extreme pain.

Arteries in the head and stomach were so bad with the blood clodding and terrific throbbing.

Headaches ensured.

The rubbing of the back of that was so ripped to pieces on the rough surface of the cross was excruciating.

The victim of the cross died a thousand deaths.

Death would be preceded by exhaustion and unconsciousness.

It was a long ways from heaven's throne to Calvary's cross.

A long ways.

That we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

2 Corinthians 5.21.

Wow.

Not my meat.

I have come not to do, hey, I have come not to do my will, but the meat of the Father, to do his will.

John 4.34.

The sacrificing Savior.

Ladies and gentlemen, he gave up everything for you.

Amen.

Everything for you.

Everything.

The sacrificing Savior.

And then last, the sanctifier.

The sanctified Savior.

Verses 9 through 11.

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him and given him a name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow of things in heaven and things in earth and things under the earth.

And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.

God highly exalted Jesus.

Above everything.

His resurrection from the dead exalted him.

His ascension to heaven exalted him.

His coronation exalted him.

His intercession as our high priest exalted him.

Hey, his name, Lord of Lords, exalted him.

And then his lordship exalted him.

Those are all those fill in the blanks.

His resurrection from the dead exalted him.

His ascension to heaven exalted him.

His coronation exalted him.

His intercession as our high priest exalted him.

His name.

Benji and them sang a song, There's No Other Name.

His name.

We just sang it.

That's what we're going to do for the invitation.

His name.

His name.

The Lord of Lords and the what?

King of Kings.

His name.

In fact, when you look at his name, look at what he says.

There's two things.

Number one, first of all, there is forgiveness in his name.

Look at Luke 24, 47.

And it literally says, What?

And the repentance and remission of sin should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

We have access into his presence through his name.

John 16, 23.

And in that day ye shall ask me nothing.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it to you.

Verse 24.

Hereto have ye asked nothing in my name, asking ye shall receive that your joy may be full.

The joy of the Lord is my strength.

Walking in the joy of the Lord is in his name.

His name.

Lordship.

The last thing, the great title by which Jesus came to be known in the early church means master owner.

The Hebrew word Jehovah is translated Lord in the Greek.

Now watch this.

Jesus is no longer the baby in the cradle.

He's no longer the Savior on the cross.

He is the risen King of kings and Lord of Lords.

Now don't miss this.

It's the most important part of the message.

When a person is saved, he is to acknowledge Jesus as Lord.

Now listen to me.

You don't get saved and then make Jesus Lord later.

You don't do that.

I know there's a lot of people teach that.

That's not scriptural.

Show it to me scripturally.

It's not scriptural.

Because Jesus is, do you believe Jesus is Lord?

Amen.

Well, you better because listen, in the New Testament, he's called Lord 651 times, Savior 24 times, the book of Acts, Savior twice, and Lord 92 times.

He's Lord.

He's Kuros, Master, Controller.

When you get saved, he is as much Lord right then as he ever will be.

You don't make him Lord, he is Lord.

How do you have the power to make him Lord anyway?

Hello.

He's Lord.

And I am deeply concerned that a lot of people have said a prayer, gotten supposedly saved with not understanding Lordship.

And if you don't understand Lordship, I'm not really sure you can be saved.

Because it's too simple not to understand.

You know what lordship means?

I am yours, Lord.

You're the boss, not me, and I'll do what you tell me.

Amen.

Is that hard to understand?

Come on, folks.

Church, is that hard to understand?

Look what happens supposedly when you got saved.

Are you ready?

Listen.

Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord, my God, when he really realized that he had been resurrected.

Romans 10 9, the salvation verse, if thou shalt confess with thy mouth, what does it say?

The Lord Jesus and shall believe in the heart that God has raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Romans 10 13, for whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Here's what I believe.

If a person is unwilling for Christ to be their Lord, then it indicates a lack of genuine repentance.

I know that's tough, but I believe that scripture.

Matthew chapter 7, look at it, verse 21 through 23.

Matthew 7 · chapter mention

Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven.

But he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not preached in thy name?

And in thy name have cast out devils, and in thy name done many wonderful works, and then will I profess unto them, I never knew you.

Depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Now, I've had a lot of people challenge me on this verse.

In fact, Ty and I were just talking about this verse.

That's what I love about interns.

We get to study theology while we're visiting.

He said, What do you think about that?

I said, how can they do these things that Jesus did?

I said, because God's word never returned void.

It's not, hey, it's not the messenger that changes people's lives.

It's the message.

Hello?

You with me?

That's why people can preach the message and things still happen, but the messenger can still be dirty.

How do you know which is which?

It's pretty simple.

Your heart.

Does he really control your heart?

That means when you wake up in the morning, the first thing you say is, Lord, what would you help me to do?

Not getting up with your calendar already planned out.

Oh, and by the way, Lord, if I need you, I'll holler.

Lord, if I need you, I'll pray.

No.

Lord, what would you help me to do today?

I understand work and all, but even in your work, Lord, how will you let me be an influence today in my work?

Amen.

Jesus was dogmatic about pleasing the Father.

Dogmatic.

Are you dogmatic, Danny?

Pastor?

Am I dogmatic about pleasing the Father?

Because that is it.

That's Lordship.

Hey, let me tell you what lordship is.

I wrote this to me.

Paul said, I die daily.

I die daily.

I die daily.

I have to get wake up in the morning.

And by the way, I have to do this all through the day too.

I have to say, Lord, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.

That's not that's not what I want to do.

I mean, it is what I want to do, but I'm not sure that's what you want me to do.

Lord, not my will, but thy will be done.

Say that with me.

Lord, not my will.

Again.

Lord.

Now that's Lord's yield.

That's Lord's yield.

Not okay, Lord, if I need you, I'll pray.

I'll call.

I'm always, sometimes I'm very guilty of that.

But God has been teaching me.

One day at a time, sweet Jesus.

Amen.

And hey, today, I'm yours.

Give me what?

My marching orders.

Amen.

Do you really know him this morning?

A lot of people in church think they're saved.

And they're still doing what they want to do.

When they want to do it, how they want to do it.

You know what I've had young people tell me to say him?

Well, I'm saved.

I just hadn't made him Lord yet.

I've had older people say, Well, you know, I I'm saved.

I he's just not Lord because I hadn't been in church in 20 years.

He that says he loves me that keeps not my commandments, is a liar.

And the truth's not in him.

1 John 2.

So how could you say you're saved and not be obedient for 20 years?

I don't understand that, folks.

I'm sorry.

I really don't understand that.

It doesn't add up with the book.

It adds up with our our book, our thinking.

So we're not held responsible.

I'm telling you something.

If he's not Lord of all.

He's not Lord at all.

You really need to examine your heart.

You don't get up on Sunday mornings if he's Lord and decide whether or not you're going to go to church today.

It's not even a decision.

Hey, that decision's been made a long time ago.

That decision was made when you got saved.

To find a great, dynamic church that preaches the word, loves God, loves you, and you're growing together to reach your community.

That decision's been made.

I mean, when I said I do to my beautiful precious wife, and I married her, and when when uh Michelle and Dustin made that commitment yesterday, it's till death do our part.

I'm not leaving my wife.

There's no way.

I'll die first.

Now she may shoot me.

That's a joke.

I hope.

I had to get us laughing a little bit because we're all looking.

You know what?

The sap and the Holy Spirit just took a two by four and bammed us right between the eyes.

That's what he did.

I've done my part.

Now you gotta do your part.

Is he Lord?

Is he really Lord?

If not, you need to make him Lord.

And you know how you make him?

You don't make him.

You receive him.

You surrender.

You get saved.

Billy Graham says 70% of people in church are lost.

I'm beginning to believe that.

We have no hunger in America for the things of God anymore.

We're in trouble, folks.

We're the third rated country that are having missionaries sent to our country now.

China, I mean India, China, America.

Our light is about out.

It's not totally out, because as long as God's got his church, the light's gonna be there.

But it's time to have revival.

Can I get an amen?

And maybe God will let it start in Chelsea Westover.

And spray it.
