The Mighty God

Woo! I love Christmas! In fact, I got a couple of songs that need to be sung.

So I'll just uh, Benji, we gotta have, we may do it on Christmas morning.

Uh, Mary, did you know?

We gotta have that.

And then, honey, I want to sing, What child is this?

That was born.

And uh, so those those two have been really on my heart in relation to this mini-series that I've been preaching.

I want you to turn with me to Isaiah chapter 9, verse 6.

Isaiah 9:6

Many of us have memorized this verse, many of us have read the verse, many of us have heard it preached.

I have preached it all inclusive in one message, but taking each and every gift, and we see the four unbelievable gifts that were given to us on that Christmas morning.

Wonderful counselor, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace.

And today we're going to be looking at the second word, the second gift.

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulders.

That's why I've never got upset about the election, folks.

I know who's in charge.

Can I get an amen?

Everything's gonna be okay.

It's already okay.

So don't worry about it because God's in charge.

He is in charge.

And then he says, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor.

And we looked at that last week in detail.

I because I don't want you to miss, I want you to have all three of these messages under your uh belt and in your heart as we close out on Christmas morning, the Prince of Peace, and how we end it that morning.

So, anyway, he says, secondly, the second gift is the mighty God.

The second title given to our Lord Jesus Christ really is one of unusual significance.

It really is.

I'm telling you, it's unbelievable.

In fact, several translations, and they've taken the word mighty God.

Now, the Hebrew word for mighty God is Gabar.

Gabar, G-I-B, B-O-R-E.

They pronounce it Jabbar, Jabor, and it literally means a strong man.

It means an upright man.

It means a powerful man.

It means a champion.

It means a mighty warrior.

It means a hero.

But a lot of translations have said it means the one who gives light to men.

It means illustrious.

It means, hey, the bright and shiny one, and we know that to be true.

In John 8, 12, he says, John, the beloved John writes, and Jesus himself says, I am the light of the world.

He that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of light.

So we see how important that is.

So the almost wandering, though, that's right here, is the best of all.

The mighty God.

It means the mighty one, the strong one, the omnipotent one, the all-powerful one.

That's exactly what the word means.

Dr.

Alexandria McLaren, a great uh theologian back in the early days, back in the early uh 1800s, said this.

Powerful statement.

It is one who is victorious in battle, a hero that has made a name for himself through triumphant war.

And I thought to myself, is that not a powerful characteristic of the mighty God?

So the essential message of this title right here is it means power, it means strength, and it means victory.

The mighty God.

Power, strength, and victory.

Revelations 19, 6.

Hallelujah.

It says, For the Lord omnipotent reigneth.

And then Paul said, hey, finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might.

Ephesians 6.10.

So today I want us to look at three things about this powerful, unbelievable characteristic of that little baby that was born 2,000 years ago in Bethlehem.

The mighty God.

Three things.

First of all, let's look at Christ's power as creator.

As creator.

Look at Isaiah chapter 9, verse 6.

Isaiah 9:6

His name will be called Mighty God.

And centuries later, John, in John chapter 1, verses 1 through 3 interpreted this name, this mighty God.

John 1:1–3

Look at what he said about it.

In the beginning was the word.

And the word was, hey, with God.

And the word was God.

He was in the beginning with God.

Now watch.

All things, now watch, were made, hey, by him.

All things were made through him and by him, and without him, nothing was made that was made.

So we see in the beginning, right here.

Listen to what Paul said in Colossians 1, verse 16.

Colossians 1:16

Paul put it this way: all things were created through him and for him.

In other words, ladies and gentlemen, this earth is no accident.

I really believe that with all my heart.

It is a matter of fact that the universe is not a self-produced universe.

God made this universe.

It did not happen through the Big Bang theory that all of a sudden these little atoms everywhere just came together and bang, and there's the earth.

No, it did not happen that way.

Hey, it starts in the very first verse of your Bible.

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

God created the earth.

It did not happen.

And by the way, you did not evolve from a monkey.

Amen.

You came from God.

Amen.

You didn't have to start out as a little tadpole, then a frog, then a monkey, then an egg, and then a man.

No.

You were fearfully and wonderfully made.

Marvelous are God's works.

Psalms 139, verse 14.

Are you with me?

So we got to see this little baby that was born on Christmas morning was the mighty God who created the heavens and the earth and who created you.

Now that gets me excited.

Because I know where I came from.

You don't have to, hey, hey, I didn't come from some kind of animal.

And I and that animal didn't just evolve.

Amen.

It'd be like a watch.

You got a watch.

Raise your hand if you got a watch on.

I got a Fitbit on.

You don't want to know how many calories I burned just in one preaching session.

It's pretty good.

Means I can go eat me a donut.

Just a thought.

Boy, I'd like to have a looking good donut bat right now.

But now, hey, hey, hey, watch this.

Watch this.

These beautiful watches.

Somebody give me a watch.

Give me a watch.

Honey, give me that watch.

That's a pretty watch.

Beautiful watch.

Let me ask you something.

If I took this watch and put it in a little box, and I took this box and just shook it.

In other words, I'd take all the parts out and all put it in a box and just shake the box, and then all of a sudden I'd reach in there and out comes a beautiful watch.

Of thousands of pieces.

Now, do you believe that?

Come on.

Anybody in here's got any sense, you wouldn't believe that.

Right?

But that is exact, I mean, some watch master took this beautiful watch and put those little intricate pieces together so that it can tell you exactly what time it is in all the world.

It took a master, hey, hey, uh, jewel or master watchman to do that.

It was a craft, it was crafted, it was put together by a craftsman.

Now, if you don't believe that I could take every one of these parts, put it in a box, shake it, and then I could just pull out this watch, how in the world can you believe in the Big Bang theory?

That all this that's so intricately made, your body, my body, and all these systems in our body could all of a sudden, out of a big atom bomb, and we just here we are.

Give me a break.

You're smarter than that.

It's not the Big Bang theory, it's God, the Creator.

We believe in a real Almighty, mighty, the mighty God.

Not a God, but the mighty God.

As we look at the glory of the heavens and the handiwork of the earth, hey, as we examine the vastness of what God created in the heavens and the stars through a telescope.

And as we also, hey, hey, observe the minuteness of all that he created, hey, not in a telescope, but in a microscope, we can't help but say, thank God that there's a mighty God.

As we see all that he is.

In fact, there was a famous English deitius.

And a deity is a person that believes in something, but they don't really know what it is.

They believe there's something other than just this dust of a man.

But they're not sure that there's a God up there.

A lot of say, well, there's something up there or the higher powers.

That's a deities.

They believe something, but they don't know really what to believe.

So this deities, very famous, Antheon, his name's Anthe, well, Anthony Collins of the 17th century, they called him Anthe.

Because he was such a tremendous lecturer in the colleges of science.

And so one day he's walking out, headed down the road, and he meets this young lad walking, going to church, had his Bible in his arm.

He said, Young sir, where are you going?

He says, I'm going to church.

He said, Oh, you're going to church?

He said, Yes, sir, I'm going to church.

He says, Well, why are you going to church?

He said, Because I believe in God.

He said, Oh, you believe in God?

He said, Yes.

He said, Well, is your God big or is your God little?

You know, there's that scientist.

He said, Oh, he's both.

And Mr.

Collins said, What?

How can he be both?

Oh, Mr.

Collins, he said.

Oh, he's big enough to create the heavens and the earth and the stars, but he's small enough to come into my heart and radically change me.

Wow.

He stopped for a moment, and later in one of his publications, he said that young lad had more sense than all the theologians and philosophers that he had ever heard to describe the mighty God.

And that is so true, folks.

It is so true.

The mighty power of God.

Job 26, 7, he hangeth the earth.

Hey, I love it.

You've got to write it down.

Job 26, 7.

He hangeth the earth upon nothing.

So, do you really think that this earth, just out of a little atom, uh, what we call the Big Bang Theory, evolved?

No.

God created it.

Oh, I love what he says.

He says in Psalms 102, verse 25, the heavens are the work of his hands.

Psalms 102:25

What beautiful.

So, not only do we see Christ's power as creator, but number two, we see Christ's power as sustainer.

In Isaiah 9, 6, his name will be called the mighty God.

Now, the New Testament expands this by stating, look at what it says in Hebrews chapter 1, verse 3.

Hebrews 1:3

Look at what he says.

Tremendous insight here.

Who being the brightness of his glory and the express image of his person.

Now watch.

And upholding, sustaining all things by the word of his power.

By the word of his power.

And then I love when he says, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the majestic high God.

And again, listen to what he said in Colossians 1:17.

Colossians 1:17

He is before all things, and in him, now watch, all things consist.

So not only is he the creator, he is the sustainer.

Oh, ladies and gentlemen, as I saw that, I said, is that not awesome?

Here we are told that not only were all things created through the, hey, the word of his power, but we also see that he says that we are sustained and governed by his power.

Now that's powerful.

Who's in control of your life?

Is it the mighty God?

Or is it you and me?

Because his word, he says, all the worlds were framed by the word of God.

Hebrews 1, 3.

So we see this powerful observation.

And here's what we do see: that, hey, in other words, it requires as much power to conserve as it does to create.

It takes the power of the mighty God.

Materialists who believe that the sustaining power of creation comes from natural laws.

The only problem is, hey, they can't prove that.

They can't prove it.

In fact, the laws that have no power to create even an atom cannot sustain a world.

The truth is that the secret behind this all phenomena is the, hey, the power of the Almighty God.

He is the one that created it, he is the one that sustains it.

I love John Peterson as he expressed this through his hymn of adoration.

He says, All glory to Jesus, begotten of God, great I am is he, creator, sustainer by wonder of all, the lamb of Calvary.

Man, that's so true.

That's so true.

So, Christ's power to sustain us.

Ladies and gentlemen, let me help you here.

I don't care what you're going through, he'll see you through.

Amen.

He'll sustain you.

Why?

He's a sustainer through his power, through his word, through his person of the Holy Spirit.

He's the creator and he's the sustainer.

The power to sustain us, to keep us.

Hey, hey, no man's gonna pluck him out of his hand.

Nothing can separate us from the love of God.

Romans 8, John 10.

Amen, church?

Nothing.

So we see that that mighty God, his power to create, his power to sustain, and notice the third thing.

Christ's power as redeemer.

Boy, this is good.

His name will be called the mighty God.

Isaiah beautifully brings these two concepts together when he puts it in the following words through the mouth of his son.

Well, God does, puts it in his own son's mouth as he speaks.

And look at this, this powerful verse, Isaiah 49, verse 26.

Listen to what he says.

I the Lord, I the Lord, now watch, am your savior, now watch, and your redeemer.

I am your savior and your redeemer.

The mighty one of Jacob.

As we think through this saving activity and this saving redemption that you and I so beautifully received as a gift.

What are the the makeup of this redemptive power?

What's this?

This will make a Presbyterian shout.

What's by the way, I went to Presbyterian school for my doctorate.

They don't shout a whole lot.

But now watch this.

They didn't know how to handle me either.

They thought I was crazy.

I am.

Now watch this.

Christ.

His power is redeemer.

Really, I want you to look at seven things about this redeeming word.

Number one, Christ's power to come to the earth.

Christ's power to come to the earth.

The prophet tells us, now look, verse six, unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given.

Now, watch this.

The Redeemer's advent that brought him to this earth on Christmas morning was very unique.

Very un should I say, it was not a should I say average birth.

It was not an average life.

It was not an average anything.

Why?

Because he's the mighty God that was born that morning.

But notice, he was born of Mary.

Yes?

Hey, he was, but he was begotten of the Holy Spirit.

In other words, he had a a real, a mom, a physical mom, Mary, the beautiful young lady born, but he was born, now watch, of a virgin.

He was born of a virgin.

The Lord himself shall conceive and bring forth, hey, hey, hey, Mary, she said, a virgin shall conceive and bring forth a child, and his name shall be called Emmanuel, God with us.

Isaiah 7.14.

So Mary knew no man till the birth of Christ.

She was, hey, she was a virgin.

In other words, the conception was of the Holy Spirit of God.

It was God's seed coming to what?

To mix with Mary's seed to conceive of the Son of God.

In fact, listen this.

Listen to what God's word says.

Powerful.

Powerful statement in Luke 135.

And he says, The Holy Spirit shall will come upon you, Mary, and the now here it is.

Here's the conception.

And the power of the highest will overshadow you.

Therefore, also that holy one who is to be born will be called the Son of God.

In other words, through Jesus.

We see because of Jesus, although Jesus passed through the natural process of human birth.

But hey, the conception was initiated by the Holy Spirit.

The holy, I wrote this to myself, the holy life of the pre-existent Son was united with the seed of the woman, and the mighty God was born into the world.

Wow.

What a picture.

What a savior.

What a birth.

What a unique experience that took place.

And then I got to thinking about it.

When the wise men brought the three gifts, the gold and frankincense and myrrh.

I thought to myself, all this was wrapped up in that conception.

What was wrapped up?

Watch this.

Hey, here it is.

And I love it.

His sovereignty was wrapped up in that little baby that was represented by the gift of gold.

And then we see his deity was represented by the gift of frankincense.

And then we see his humanity was represented by the gift of myrrh.

All this wrapped up in that one little baby.

Wow.

We see his sovereignty, his deity, his humanity.

And that makes sense when he says, unto us, a child is born through the process of natural birth.

But unto us a son is given through the seed of the Holy Spirit of God.

He was as much man as I am man, but he was as much God as God ever has been and ever will be.

He was the God man.

He was the God man.

Wow.

Then notice Christ's power not only to come to earth, but to live on earth.

Look at Romans 1:4.

Romans 1:4

Paul tells us that Jesus Christ was declared, now watch, to be the Son of God with power, according to the Spirit of holiness by the resurrection from the dead.

Wow.

For our purpose, we must realize, we're observing that the Lord Jesus manifested himself as the mighty God by the Spirit of holiness.

In other words, listen, Jesus never sinned.

He is the sinless Lamb of God, the Lamb of God that takes away our sins.

And that's why we see right here, he lived sinless, holy, in a sinful world.

And it was because of his sinless life that God raised him.

Have you ever thought about this?

From the dead, so that he, his body, could not receive corruption.

Why?

Because he's sinless.

His body saw no corruption.

It is true.

He mingled with sinners, but he was sinless.

Amen.

It is true.

In fact, the Bible says in Hebrews 7.26, he was harmless.

He was holy, separate from sinners.

And then it is true he confronted Satan, but Satan could not touch him and have nothing to do with him and in any way affect him.

Why is that?

Listen to what he says in John chapter 14, verse 30.

John 14:30

The ruler of this world is coming, that's Satan, and has nothing in me or to do with me.

All throughout his life he was characterized by the spirit of holiness.

1 Peter 1 says to us, Be holy in all manner of behavior, because it is written, Be ye holy, for God is holy.

1 Peter 1, 15 and 16.

So we see this expressed in this mighty God.

This is why Paul in another of his epistles declared that the only life worth living is a life that is indwelled by the power of the Holy Spirit of God.

He says, I am crucified with Christ.

Nevertheless I live yet not I, but Christ liveth in me.

And the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me.

Galatians 2.20.

Wow.

Wow.

The power.

The power right here to live on earth, to come to earth.

Notice the third thing: Christ's power to speak on earth.

Again and again throughout the Gospels, we read that people were astonished at this man's teachings and at this man's words.

In fact, as I was looking through the New Testament, I see in Mark 1.22, they were astonished at his teachings, for he taught them as one having, look, authority, and not as the scribes.

The scribes taught as what men had taught them.

Jesus came and he says, I do not speak as other men speak, I speak as God.

Wow.

I speak as God.

Oh, listen.

Listen to this.

This is powerful.

He says in Matthew 5, 21 and 22, you have heard that it was said to those of old, the other philosophers and teachers and religious prophets, he said, hey, they were men speaking of their old teachings and the teachings of their philosophers and their master teachers.

But notice what he said in verse 22.

But I say to you, what God says is what I say.

I was reading and I thought to myself, as I was studying and researching all this word studies, Jesus left no books behind.

Now the Holy Spirit wrote the book, the Bible, we know that.

But I'm talking about like all these other master teachers, these other theologians.

Jesus wrote, hey, he did not write one theological set of commentaries.

He wrote the commentary, the Bible, but but through the person of the Holy Spirit.

But listen to me, he wrote no tracts, he left nothing.

Nothing like Pluto and Aristotle or Shakespeare or Milton.

Hey, but hundreds have died carrying Jesus' message, Jesus' words to the ends of the world.

No one ever died.

Hey, hey, hey, for the writings of Pluto and Aristotle and Shakespeare.

But hundreds, thousands have died for the words of God.

They have been translated into hundreds of different languages, so that, hey, savage tribes have been converted, cannibals have been converted, hey, characters and cultures of individuals have been changed through his words, but not man's words.

So we see Christ's power to speak on earth.

Ladies and gentlemen, why do you read this book?

Why do you read this book every day?

And if you're not, you need to start today.

This is God speaking to you verbatim.

In the beginning was the word, the word was with God, and the word was God.

Hey, there's a two way Susan and I communicate.

She talks to me and I talk to her.

If you don't communicate, hey, hey, it's not a one-way communication.

It's a two-way communication.

Well, listen, you pray, you speak to God, you read the word, he speaks to you.

It's that simple.

And these words are life-changing.

His word never returns void, but it accomplishes where he sends it, his purpose.

Isaiah 55, 11.

Now you're cleansed through the words that I've spoken unto you.

The B-I-B-Le, that's the book for me.

It brightens my life, it instructs my life, it builds my life, it liberates my life, and it's everlasting.

The B I B El E.

That's the book for me.

So we see the power.

Christ's power to speak on earth.

Notice the other thing.

Number four.

Notice Christ's power to work on earth.

When the two disciples on the road to Emmaus were viewing the ministry of the Lord Jesus, they summed it up by saying he was a prophet, mighty in deed and word, before God and all the people.

Luke 24, 19.

And Jesus, when he was speaking to the two disciples on the road to Maas, beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he spake unto them all the words of the Lord concerning all the words of the Bible concerning himself.

I used to teach young men to preach and taught homiletics, and that's the art of teaching and preaching and putting messages together and delivering.

And I used to say, we want to preach like Jesus preached.

I said, God's word shows us how Jesus preached in Luke 24, beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them and all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

Whoa, in Genesis, he's a promise seed, in Exodus, he's a Passover lamb.

In Leviticus, he's the scapegoat.

In Numbers, he's a braven serpent.

Woo! And I could just go on all the way through each one of them.

Amen.

He's the mighty God.

We preach the book.

It is God's word speaking to us.

It is God's word changing us.

It is God's word strengthening in us.

It's supernatural power and strength.

Hey, God's supernatural power and strength was demonstrated in all that he did, which could not be denied.

Listen, when he healed the sick, the people cried out, He has done all things well.

Mark 7.37, when he miraculously fed thousands of people.

Hey, as the people stood on, they looked, and here's what they said.

This is truly the prophet who is to come into this world.

John 6.14.

Hey, when he steal the waves and the waters, the disciples marveled and said, What kind of man is this that even the waves and the seas obey?

Woo! And then he exercised the demon out of a mute man.

And the multitudes marvels.

Here's what they said, saying, It was never seen like this in Israel.

Matthew 9, 33.

And then when he forgave sinners, the multitudes marveled and glorified God who had given such power to men.

Matthew 9.8.

Oh, ladies and gentlemen, Christ's power to speak on earth, yes.

But number four, we see Christ's power to work on earth.

As he healed the sick, fed the hungry, stealed the waves, cast out demons, and forgave sinners.

And then notice Christ's power, the fifth thing: power to die on earth.

We see in John chapter 10, verses 17 through 18, listen to what Jesus said.

John 10:17–18

He declared it.

Therefore, my father loves me.

Now watch, this is powerful.

Because I lay down my life that I may take it again.

No one takes this life from me, but I lay it down of myself.

Now watch, I have power to what?

Lay it down.

In other words, power to die on earth.

Notice it was a, and really, I think this is probably one of the most remarkable statements Jesus Christ ever made on earth, describing his character.

Now watch.

Describing his character of his death.

Three things.

Notice what he said.

First of all, his death was voluntary.

It was a voluntary as to the motive.

Listen to what he said in Matthew 20, verse 28.

Matthew 20:28

The Son of Man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister and to give his life a ransom for many.

Wow.

In fact, uh in another verse, he says in John 12, 27, for this purpose, now watch, came I unto this hour.

Right now.

In other words, he controlled the very hour, the very moment, the very minute that he died.

It was voluntary to the motive.

But notice what else?

Even more amazing.

Christ's death was voluntary to us, hey, voluntary to the method.

While he escaped lynching, while he escaped stoning several different times in the scriptures, he predicted confidently to his disciples exactly how he was going to die.

He said, I must go to Jerusalem.

And there I will be, hey, arrested.

And he said, There the Gentiles will mock me, they will scourge me, and they will crucify me.

That's what he said.

But he also said in that same verse in Matthew 20, 19, but on the third day, oh, I'm about to have a spell.

But on the third day I will rise.

In other words, I'm not going to stay down.

In other words, here's what he said: they can't kill me.

They can't kill me.

That's what he's saying.

They can't kill me.

That's what he meant.

Christ's death was voluntary as to the method, exactly how he died.

And perhaps the most astonishing aspect of this character of his death is the fact that his death was voluntary to the moment, to the very moment when he bowed his head and said, Totalesti.

It is finished.

John 19, 30.

And he gave up the ghost.

He controlled the very moment of his death.

Now that's powerful, folks.

That's why he's the mighty God.

The voluntary character of the death of Christ is lift out of the ordinary deaths into the place of uniqueness and infinite wonder and redemptive significance.

That is no surprising that when he was being crucified and when he said, It is finished, that the Roman centurion standing there looked up in the darkness that had covered the earth at the time, and he said, Truly, this man is the son of God.

Truly, this man is the son of God.

Mark 15, 39.

And needless to say, only such a death could redeem sinners like you and me.

I found a powerful illustration in a I was as I was studying the commentary on Alexander.

He had an unbelievable, he was uh McLaren was a theologian of the early 19th century, late 1800s, 19th century.

He used illustration to this point, and he said it was during the funeral procession of Abraham Lincoln.

And he made this powerful illustrative statement.

There was a black mother standing respectfully behind the crowd of people, and she held her baby high above her head, and as the martyred president body passed, and she said, To look, he, and boy, what a powerful statement.

It said, take a long look at him.

It is this man that gave his life for you.

This black lady with her little black baby.

And we know what Abraham did, praise God.

But I thought to myself when I read that illustration about Calvary.

Take a long look, folks, at Calvary.

Because this baby became a man and died on Calvary for you and me.

And if I be lifted up, he says I'll draw all men unto myself.

John 12, 32.

Take a long look at Calvary.

Wow.

What a savior.

What a mighty God.

Is he?

And then the sixth thing we see Christ's power to rise from the dead, to rise from the earth.

I have power to lay my life down, but now notice 1 John 10, 18, I have power to take it again.

Dr.

B.

Myers, great early century theologian, made this statement.

And he said, Now the Bible records a number of stories of people who were raised from, you know, the dead to life.

But to be absolutely accurate in our definition, I never thought of it this way.

Sylvester, listen to what he said.

All such persons that had that were raised, supposedly from the dead, were resuscitated rather than raised from the dead.

The proof of this, hey, is that they died again.

In fact, Myers, in one of his sermons, made this statement.

These people have one cradle but two coffins.

But when Jesus rose from the dead, he conquered death forever.

Romans 6, 9.

Death no longer has dominion over him.

Wow.

Revelations 1 18.

Behold, I'm he that liveth and was dead, and behold, I'm alive forevermore, and I hold the keys of death.

Revelations 1.18.

Forever.

Folks, he never dies.

Guess what?

If you and I know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we don't either.

We don't either.

He says in Romans 4.20, he says, hey, he said, I stagger not at the promise of God through unbelief, but strong in faith, giving glory to God, that whatever he promised he would do.

And then he says, I, hey, that, hey, those who believe in him shall never die.

Never die.

To be absent from the bodies, to be present with the Lord.

What a mighty God we serve.

And then the last thing.

Christ's power to save on earth.

Look at what he says.

Matthew 9, 6.

The Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins.

Wow.

This forgiving and saving ministry continues throughout his, we call it the mediator office, the mediation.

He is the mediator.

There's one God and one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus.

1 Timothy 2.5.

Now here's one of my favorite verses.

Hebrews 7.25.

I want to get Niva and Susan to sing this for me.

Listen to what it says.

He is able.

Do we have that verse, Jason?

Hebrews 7.25.

I want them to see this.

Here's what it says God is able.

He, God is able, now watch, to save.

Are you ready?

To save to the uttermost.

Ha ha! To save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him.

Since he ever lives to make intercession for them.

There's the intercession ministry.

But there's an all-saving ministry.

He saves to the uttermost.

There's a song, Save to the Uttermost.

Amen.

Save to the uttermost.

Ladies and gentlemen, if you're here this morning, you are saved to the uttermost.

And not only are you saved to the uttermost, you got a God that intercedes for you every day.

Can I get an amen?

He sustains you every day through the grace of God.

What a glorious gospel this is.

Hey, it includes, hey, the saving from the penalty of sin.

From the power of sin.

And one day it'll save us from the presence of sin when we go to be with him.

The penalty, the power, hey, and it presents.

That's powerful, folks.

How can we have that kind of saving power?

Because of the mighty God and all that he is.

In fact, I got to go in on this.

It matters not who you are or what you are.

Can I get an amen?

The mighty God will save you.

And then I wrote this.

Hey, it matters not, hey, if you are a religious sinner, the mighty God can save you.

It does not matter if you are an intellectual sinner, God can save you.

It does not matter if you are an ignorant sinner, the mighty God can save you.

It doesn't matter if you are a cultured sinner, God, the mighty God, can save you.

It does not matter if you are a depraved sinner, the mighty God can save you.

Listen, God is an all-inclusive God.

He embraces everyone.

Thank you, Lord.

What a glorious Christmas message this is to a world waiting in the shadow of darkness and death.

His name will be called the mighty God.

Mighty as creator, mighty as a sustainer, and mighty as redeemer.

Will you claim him this morning as your Redeemer?

What?
