I sent my mom a text this morning.

And I'm I'm 42, and a mother's words matter.

She said, I love you with all my heart and always will.

I pray for you daily and your family.

I always pray for God's protection and leadership over you.

You're doing an awesome job.

Keep it up.

Love mom.

Hey, mom's words at 42 still matter.

And so, moms, as long as you're a mother, you're making an impact, and we're thankful for our moms.

I'm so thankful.

Today, I know she's watching.

I'm thankful for you, mom.

I'm thankful for my wife, who is an awesome mother to our children.

And uh, it's a beautiful thing to see Jesus in our moms and in the mothers of our children.

So thank you for that.

Look, I'm not gonna pass by a hot day again.

I'm gonna tell somebody so that we can get cooled down.

This this morning's message title is This A Special Delivery, Exodus chapter 2.

Exodus 2 · chapter mention

We're gonna be looking at, I hope for many of you, the first time you've ever heard a sermon on Yaqobed.

I said it right.

We would say it Jochabad, but a special delivery.

Point number one this morning, as you're turning there, Yaqobed moves audaciously.

I want you to see why.

Exodus chapter 1, verse 15 through 22, we'll run by the why here.

Exodus 1:15–22

It says, Then the king of Egypt spoke to the Hebrew midwives, of whom the name of one was Shirah, and the name of the other Pu'ah, and he said, When you do the duties of a midwife for the Hebrew women and see them on birth stools, if it is a son, then you shall kill him.

But if it is a daughter, then she shall live.

But, this is important, if I were any if I I would underline this verse, but the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the male children alive.

So the king of Egypt called for the midwives and said to them, Why have you done this thing and saved the male children alive?

And the midwives said to Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not like the Egyptian women, for they are lively and give birth before the midwives come to them.

Therefore God dealt well with the midwives, and the people multiplied and grew very mighty, and so it was because the midwives feared God that he provided households for them.

So Pharaoh commanded all his people, saying, Every son who is born you shall cast into the river, and every daughter shall save you alive.

Pray with me.

Father, we pray today that your word would go forth.

God, I pray for the hearts of people here.

But we come in with all kinds of preconceptions and misconceptions and everything that happened in the week.

And I just pray, God, that your word, Lord, would move through my reading of it, through the understanding of it, God, that your Holy Spirit would be given leeway.

And I pray for everybody, God, just for a few moments to unpack anything that they brought in.

And God, just let them hear from you.

Lord, I pray that our mothers would be challenged, but that we would all be challenged in Jesus' name.

Amen.

Letter A is this we see Pharaoh's wicked ruling and therefore the need for the audacity of Yaqoved.

Pharaoh attempts to solidify the power of his rule by eliminating any threat from the Hebrew nation.

I want you to know this is the same mentality that he digs in here that was used by Hitler's regime.

They try to unite people through fear of an overtaking that these Hebrew people were going to build a nation through having children, and it was going to eventually come to a war, and it was going to be a bad thing for their people.

And so he attempts the same fear-type tactics.

So they did a couple of things.

One, they enslaved the Israelites to stop any of this.

Number two, he implores the midwives to have any male children murdered at birth.

Verse 17, I said was important because, thank goodness for this verse, when it says, He tried to have them murder the boys, it says, but the midwives feared God.

Five words that should be over every doorway today.

But the rites feared God.

And as your children walk out, but the Wilsons feared God, but the keys feared God.

Our decisions are built on this.

You see, the government, the authority told them to do this, but they feared God.

And the last tactic that was used, all the Hebrew boys were to be aborted in the Nile River.

Abortion church, I want you to know, is never and will never be God's plan.

The irony of this passage, Pharaoh's focus on these boys was so in depth, he wanted all the boys to be killed, but it would be a cross-culture alliance of three women who saved the life of Moses, who would one day become Egypt's greatest adversary.

He had his eyes focused on these boys, but you know what, lady?

He wasn't looking.

He didn't know how powerful three women could be.

And so we see this alliance, Pharaoh's own Egyptian daughter, Moses' sister, Miriam, and the protagonist of this lesson, Moses' mother Yaqavat.

Look at letter B this morning.

It's this Yaqabat's worldly resistance.

I want you to turn to chapter 2.

She resisted this authority.

Want you to see verse 1 and 2.

It says, And a man of the house of Levi went and took as a wife a daughter of Levi.

So the woman conceived and bore a son.

And when she saw that he was beautiful, he was a beautiful child, another description as a goodly child, she hid him three months.

Pause there.

Well, look at her name, Yaqaved.

The name Yaqved means Yahweh is glory or glorious.

First person in the Bible that we see to have a name directly associated with the name Yahweh, the name for God.

And so then we see after this, this pregnancy that takes place and the ruling that's in the land.

I want you to think about it.

Imagine the pregnancy.

Imagine the waiting, the expectancy that we have during pregnancy, the wondering whether or not the baby will be a boy or a girl.

You got a picture.

This was a time where they didn't have any ultrasounds.

And so they just had to wait to the day of birth.

And you're waiting with an anticipation.

If I have a male child, what are my options as I look forward with a male child?

Well, it says, when Yaqved gave birth, she gave birth to a goodly baby boy.

Yaqved saw him, and just like any other mother, looked at her baby, and said, this is a perfect baby.

You remember the moment you saw your babies for the first time?

I mean, Callie, Wyatt, and Weston for me, I'll never forget those moments.

I'll never forget seeing them and hearing them for the first time.

It is forever etched in my mind those moments.

And again, I say this.

It seems to me impossible to be an atheist and watch the birth of a baby.

Miracle after miracle that takes place for a woman to give birth to a child.

And then this child comes forth, and you see this literal fruition of husband and wife coming too.

And so God's institution, marriage, and God says to be fruitful and multiply, and we see what happens from this.

And I love, I think about this, I love my children.

All three of my children.

You're goodly, you're goodly children.

I love them with all my heart.

And Heather loves them ever since the very first moment.

She didn't have to ever be taught for one second.

It's just there.

She didn't have to be taught to mother or love.

And it was there.

And can you imagine that first moment and the very hardest possible thing that could be asked of you?

Yaakoved gives birth to Moses, and she is asked the hardest possible thing.

Now go throw him in the Nile River.

Can you imagine this?

I thought about the conversation.

How would this have gone?

Amram is the father, Yaqavat the mother, and Amram comes to Yaqoved one day and says, Listen, I know the timing isn't good, but we we kind of need to talk.

And Yaqobed, listen, uh, the the ruling of the Pharaoh is this.

This is what we need to do.

We're told to throw our baby, our child in the river.

And Yaqobed maybe says, I understand, Amram, I understand that's the ruling, but look at him.

He's perfect, he's just a baby, Amram.

He's he's just a baby, and he's not not just just a baby, he's our baby.

How can we know?

No, I will not, I cannot do that.

And Amram says, but listen, Yaakved, if we don't comply with this, we possibly could lose our lives.

And I think at that moment in my head, the way it went, Yaakoved's head spun around on a swivel three times.

And she said, Amram, that is it.

I'll not hear one more of this.

If you think of touching that baby to throw in the river, I'm gonna throw you in the river.

Anybody ever seen the mama bears?

You raise your hand if you know a mama bear.

You got one you married, or you got one in your life, okay?

You've seen the claws, you've seen what happens when somebody tries to touch that baby?

Yeah.

Well, so audaciously, Yaqavat and Amram decide to hide the baby three months instead of listening to what the Pharaoh had commanded.

She resisted the worldly authority, and it's evident that other Hebrew women maybe did not, and ultimately they had to sacrifice their sons.

And I thought about this today, church, that fight is still ongoing.

Many parents are sacrificing their sons on the altar of the world's regimen.

Sometimes, probably the hardest thing a mother or father must do is resist the ways of the world.

What will you do, church?

What will you do when your child is pulled to the things of the outside world that aren't good for them?

What will you do when the world has something to offer your child, when culture is breathing at their necks about who they should be and what they should follow?

How will you continue to follow Jesus Christ when the world is pushing all this at them?

It's hard to be a mother in this world, but I want to tell you something.

I think I can promise.

They will always, a child will always remember the stand that their mother took.

A child will always remember a mother who loves the Lord and it's genuine.

A child will always remember and know a mother who read the Bible.

A child will always remember and trust a mother who made church a priority, who served God.

I want to tell you why some of those things are so important, because Satan today seeks to demoralize mothers.

He has specific, hear me, specific warfare plan against a mother and their seed.

He hates moms because moms, mothers, produce the image-bearers of God, and he hates that he cannot be God.

And so he has a major plan to attack all who nurture children.

Heather used to share to me as a young mother how difficult it was with the energies and the ways that you're pulled, how difficult it was to just have time in God's word and finish a chapter of the Bible in a day.

With all the things that a child requires, and how difficult it was, and how difficult it was to have a focused prayer time, and how she sometimes wished to just have time alone.

And mothering is so difficult, and the constant energy and can't hardly do anything.

Y'all all have seen the stories or seen pictures of a mom trying to hide in the bathroom for just a moment, and she can't because the child comes, knows you're in the bathroom, still knocks.

Right?

Mom, I need something.

And it's overwhelming.

It's hard to be a godly mom.

What threatens Satan's attack on children, though, is a mother's soul who is overflowing with Christ.

A mother given to the ways of Christ.

Threatens the attack of Satan on children.

And I want to know you, I want you to know today, moms, how valuable you are.

The second thing I want you to see this morning is Yaqabad moves attentively.

The greatest ability for a mother, for a parent, often is the ability to be available, availability to be present.

Hear me.

You hear about absentee dads and this, and I'm talking about people that aren't on the scene, that aren't in the picture at all.

But I want to tell you there's a lot of people that are at home today that aren't present.

The greatest thing that a child can have is a parent who is present in the moments that are before them, who's not checked out on their children.

And so being present, being attentive to the needs.

Yaqobat, I believe we're going to find out, was very attentive to needs that she's seen in front of her.

Look at letter A this morning.

Yacobat's release of control.

Look at verse 3 in chapter 2.

It says, But when she could no longer hide him, she took an ark of bulrushes for him, daubed it with asphalt and pitch, put the child in it, and laid it in the reeds by the river's bank.

She constructed, this is what we see about Yagabad and uh her ingenuity.

She constructed a sturdy floating basket and put it in the area which women of the palace happened to bathe ritually.

And she put the child down.

Okay.

By the way, I look at that over and over and read it this week.

This is a gritty, tough phrase.

Then she put the child down.

Imagine that moment.

She decided to hide the baby for three months because she so loved this child.

She put her life on the line.

And then it came to the point where she believed the best thing for the child.

I believe she walked closely with the Lord, but she believed attentively that the best thing for the child was to put it down.

That's hard for any mama here to reconcile with.

Put your child in a basket and walk away.

I thought about the graduation services we have.

We have graduation Sunday, next Sunday.

We're gonna honor the graduates.

And as I youth pastored, every six years my best of friends would leave me.

I spent and Heather spent time, and we would press in and build these relationships, and then they'd go off to college, and they didn't care about us staying back where we were.

We had to learn at some point to start making adult relationships because all of our good friends kept leaving.

And this was natural.

We were supposed to be excited for them, and then we were having to look at the juniors and sophomores and ones coming up like are they gonna are they gonna match their shoes?

They're very immature.

We have built these kids up.

Well, they just kept leaving.

Humanly, I think about that walk away from the basket.

And on a in a on a human level, it feels impossible.

Just leave the basket, child in it, three-month-old in it, and walk away?

Are you kidding me?

Baskets are important in the Bible.

I think we have a picture of a basket.

And as I thought about that, consider a few of the baskets that we see in the Bible.

Can you think of other mentions?

In God's hands, the Israelites met a lady named Rahab, the harlot, who let down the men of Israel in a moment that could have seen them killed in a court.

It says a braided rope, many commentators think much like a basket or similar to a basket, was dropped down the side of a window.

In 2 Corinthians 11, 33, we see in God's hands, Paul was let down through a window in a basket, escaping the enemy that was coming towards him.

In the hands of God, we saw that the disciples saw a little lad willing to help feed everybody with his little bitty lunch, five loaves and two fishes.

And when it was all over, the disciples were left looking at the miraculous vision of twelve full baskets that came from five loaves, and the miraculous hand of God over these.

And so when we see certain things in the Bible, don't just pass it on by.

In God's hand, this child was put in a basket.

And Yaqev had to be, listen, attentive, submitted to God, and surrendered to be a mother willing to make this step.

And yet we see that she was able.

She walked away.

Do I think she walked away fully intact with her head held high?

I think she was crying.

I think she was devastated.

I think she didn't understand what was going to happen, but I believe she trusted that God was bigger than her.

This is bigger than just kids, moms, parents.

Are there baskets in your life that you need to just let go and walk away from?

What are some baskets in your life?

Where you need to say, God is bigger, I've got to let go, because the picture is this, it's a control picture.

I don't know if you've heard the story.

There was a little girl on a sidewalk one day, and she had been playing with some ribbon, and she was tying ribbon around leaves that were on the ground.

And as she was doing that, a jogger came running by and it stopped him in his tracks, seeing all these leaves and ribbons.

And she was walking over to a tree and back, and he kind of startled the little girl, but he said to her, I'm sorry, I just seen what you were doing, and I I had to ask you, what are you doing with these ribbons and leaves?

And she looked at him for a second and tears began to well in her eyes.

She ran off to the house and she said, I love my mommy, I want my mommy.

And the man had no idea what he had started.

And so as he he started to walk towards the house, he met the father who had come outside.

And the father came outside and he said, Sir, I don't really know.

I I I startled your child.

All I did was ask what was going on with the ribbon.

And he said, It's okay, sir.

He said, uh, he said, actually, he said, we found out some news on my wife just a few months ago that my wife has an aggressive form of cancer.

And the doctors have said that she's only going to have a few months to live.

And we were trying to explain that to our daughter.

And one day we sat her down, he said, Listen, honey, one day soon mommy's gonna go to heaven and be with Jesus.

And he said, in that moment, she looked at me and said, When, Daddy?

I need to know when.

And he said, We looked at her and said, Honey, when the leaves change and it's fall, and the leaves begin to fall off the tree.

And he said, Sir, for the last two weeks, the leaves have been falling, and she's been going outside and grabbing the leaves and tying ribbon on it and trying to place every leaf back on the tree.

As you consider the idea of control, church, there's not one thing that that child could control.

There's not one thing that we can do to be in control.

And I know often I try to be in control.

Oh, I invite God along.

God, I would love for you to be a part of my plans.

Just please, God, make sure these things happen.

If He'll just work with me, and I have news for you and for me today.

It is a majestic fantasy to believe I've got one moment of control.

That you have a moment of control over your child, over the next breath.

It's a big mirage.

You see, God holds every breath.

And what Yaqavat understood in that moment as she walked away from a basket with a three-month-old is that Yahweh was in control, not Yaqavat.

You see, Proverbs 19, 21 says, Many are the plans in a man's heart, but God devises the steps.

God is in control.

Two times in this text we see that the best thing for the survival of Moses was that Yaqved let go.

Hear me this morning, from the Lord.

They are the Lord's, they are his.

And you may have a million plans for your child.

And let me tell you, I understand that.

And all the things that you see in them that can be done, and all the value that you put in.

But I want to tell you in Psalms 139, before they were ever born, God had plans for them.

It says he was knitting them together in her mother's womb well before you were born, before they were born.

God had a plan.

By the way, he still is knitting that plan in your life.

God has plans.

And so we're taught in Scripture sometimes that we have to let go.

In fact, Genesis, for every male child that'll be born in here, Genesis tells us one day to leave our father and mother and cleave unto our wife and therefore making a family.

This is the institution of family.

Now hear me.

Don't leave here and say, man, Pastor Rick is heartless about kids.

I want my kids to be as close to me in proximity as possible.

If God calls them to the mission field, I hope it's alabaster.

Okay?

I want my kids close to me.

It's not that.

But what makes Yaakovet such a good mother was that she wanted what is best for her child, regardless, hear me, of the personal impact.

She was willing to lay herself down, surrender herself, walk away, and believe that God had a bigger plan.

Verse 10, we see it again.

After the child is weaned, she has to let him go again.

Okay, we're gonna look at what happened there, but she has to let him go a second time.

There are many, I believe, many let goes in the relationship with child and mother, parent and child.

And church, hear me.

If they're ever to make it in this life, you are going to have to learn as a parent the ways to let go and be good at letting go.

Now don't hear me wrong, take every opportunity given.

We pour in and we pour in.

I don't care if you're 90 years old and you've got a child today, they need to be poured into you at every opportunity.

And that we get to be a parent for life.

They didn't choose to have you, you chose to have them.

So you have a responsibility to parent all of your life.

And so you take every opportunity given, but be able to let go and let God.

Well, letter B, we see Yaqavat's results through compassion.

Look at verses five through seven.

Results by compassion.

Then the daughter of Pharaoh came down to bathe at the river.

This is awesome.

This is God.

And her maidens walked along the riverside, and when she saw the ark, the basket among the reeds, she sent her maid to get it.

And when she opened it, she saw the child, and behold, the baby wept.

So she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrew children.

Then his sister said to Pharaoh's daughter, Shall I go and call a nurse for you from the Hebrew women that she may nurse the child for you?

And Pharaoh's daughter said to her, Go.

So she did.

That word compassion, Yaqaved's compassion, I want you to see, is the word Raham.

Thirty-two times this word for compassion is used.

And the word means mercy.

By implication, it means to want to soothe.

I think every parent here can understand that picture.

You want to soothe.

It's merciful love, undeserved.

It hasn't done anything to reciprocate love, but you give without any deserving.

Pharaoh's daughter, likely her name was Hatshepsut, sees baby Moses in the basket.

And it says that word.

You need some ice cream or something.

He looked at a newborn baby and it said, at the right time, can you picture?

She walked away from the basket.

God is orchestrating from heaven, getting ready for this.

Ooh, the story gets good.

And God sends this child of the Pharaoh, and there she is, and she has compassion on a newborn baby.

Callie, when she was born, it was magnificent.

She had a pile of hair like nothing you'd ever seen.

She came out of the womb with all this hair.

And by the first time we were in church, I don't know, it was it was just a few weeks we could put pigtails in her hair.

And she would sit perched on my shoulder, some of you were seeing, and she would be here, and her little head would pop out, and people would not listen to any preaching because they'd be staring at the baby, just looking at her, smiling, seeing this child with this full head of hair.

But it was amazing, this newborn, and everybody wanted to see it.

And anybody here with a child, we're sorry, I know, listen, I know we got a different world, and we all got germs.

I always wash my hand before I get a baby, but they can't help it.

They see that baby and they just go, oh, look at the baby, right?

And so she has this compassion.

Moses lets out, see this, don't miss these parts.

He lets out this God-planned sweet whimper at the right time.

He's in the basket and he goes, And there comes Pharaoh's daughter, and she says, Oh, oh, oh, oh.

And she has compassion on him at this moment, and Miriam just happens to be there, his sister, and says, Maybe we should find a Hebrew woman to come and nurse the child for you.

And she says, Hatshepsut says, That's a great idea.

Go and do that.

So, see this, don't miss this.

Hatshepsut employs Yacobed to nurse her son Moses and pays the milk fee.

Are you kidding me?

This is the hand of God.

Yacheved would go on to lovingly bring up and nurture her son until it's speculation, but he was the age to be weaned, which could be two to three.

Some commentators believe as old as four years old.

She got to, because of compassion, because of being acutely aware of the situation and knowing what she had to do, she didn't want her child to be taken or thrown in the Nile.

She didn't want any of that, but she listened in a moment.

Listen, this was a moment.

She knew it was time.

And she was acutely aware of the hand of God, and she, because of compassion, saw that this was a moment she had to let go.

And because she was so attentive to what was happening in the world around her, she was able to then raise her child.

Do you see the hand of God in that?

God blessed her.

Psalms 37:4 says, This delight thyself in the Lord, and he will also give you the desires of your heart.

Psalms 37:4

Moms, dads, hear me.

You want to be close to that child first?

Yachevet, I think first, she understood I'd got to be close to God.

If I hear his voice and I know how to act in these moments, well, I want you to turn over and see a few other statements on a godly mother.

Y'all are expecting this, so I'll just go ahead and say it.

Proverbs 31, 26.

Someone asked me if I was preaching this passage today.

I just want to hit a few verses.

Proverbs 31, 26 through 30, it says this godly woman, this virtuous woman, she opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness.

She watches over the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness or laziness.

Her children rise up and call her blessed, her husband also, and he praises her.

Many daughters have done well, but you excel them all.

This is anti-cultural today.

Charm is deceitful, and beauty is passing.

The world would have you believe beauty is everything.

But I want you to hear this but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.

I believe this is what we see in the example of Yaqavat.

The most beautiful thing about my wife, and listen, hear me, she is hot.

She is triple take across campus high.

I said, Woo! I need to meet her and learn about her spiritual life.

But the most beautiful thing about her is she's filled with compassion.

She's kind and she exudes godliness to myself and my children.

It is actual beauty.

It's not this visage.

Oh, that's beautiful too, but it's actual beauty.

It's what Proverbs is talking about.

She cares for our household, she cares for people, she cares for this church.

She loves.

Yaqavat's compassion was actual beauty.

It led her to be profoundly cognizant of the golden window that was before her, that lie at the river, because she had Holy Spirit, she had God beauty, she had God beauty resting on her, and she was walking with the Lord.

So my question today, moms, are you walking with the Lord daily?

By the way, dad, you're not off the hook because it's Mother's Day.

A godly woman is godly because she's got support.

Are you leading well?

If you're not leading well, it is very difficult for a mother.

It's very difficult for a wife.

It starts with our leading, and so are you leading well?

I want you to know your walk, Yaqavat's walk, profoundly impacts Moses' life.

Are you leading well?

Well, the third thing I want you to see this morning God moves acutely.

It's all about Yaqobed.

Where's the picture of God in this story?

Well, look at verses 6 through 10.

It says this.

And when she opened it, she saw the child, behold, had compassion on him.

This is one of the Hebrew children.

Then his sister said to Pharaoh's daughter, Shall I go call the nurse for you, the Hebrew woman, that she may nurse the child for you?

And Pharaoh's daughter said to her, Go.

So the maiden went and called the child's mother.

Then Pharaoh's daughter said to her, Take this child away and nurse him for me, and I will give you your wages.

So the woman took the child and nursed him.

And the child grew, and she brought him back.

Again, there's the other let go to Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son.

So she called his name Moses, saying, Because I drew him out of the water.

Letter A is this God is the deliverer over circumstances.

There's nothing mentioned here of Yaqobed begrudgingly passing Moses over to Pharaoh's daughter.

Nothing of Yaqobed's emotional distress in this moment.

She appears to accept that God's sovereign will was in place for her life and that of her children.

And you think about that, say, how, Pastor Rick, can a person be like that?

How in that moment can a person be able to let go and even understand how to do that?

And that's a tough question.

I'm comforted by verses like Romans 8.28, which says, and we know that all things work together for good to those that love God, to those who are called according to his purposes.

I believe in that verse.

It says, and we know, we know a couple of things about Yaqavat.

She came from good stock.

Who is Yaqavat?

How do we know anything about her?

Well, she was the daughter of Levi, who was Levi.

Levi was the great grandson, hold on to this, of Abraham and the brother of Joseph.

So what would Yakuvad know about some life that's happened before her?

Well, her uncle was Joseph.

And I bet she heard about some hard times or some stories of hard times before, some stories of some difficult things.

Like when Joseph, Uncle Joseph, was sold by his brothers into slavery.

When Uncle Joseph was sold and put in a pit and went from a pit, he went from a pit to Potiphar's house, he went from Potiphar's house to the prison, unjustly called for.

He went to prison and he went from the prison and lived for God, and he went from the prison to second in command of Pharaoh's house.

And all of a sudden, one day, all of his brothers, those who sold him out, Levi, one of them, she was a child of Levi, came and they didn't recognize, but their brother, her uncle, second in command at Pharaoh, and they all come to him, and he's able to give them food and save their lives and forgives them.

And I bet she heard a story like Genesis 15, 19, where it says, What Satan meant for evil, God meant for good.

And she said, I remember what Satan meant for evil, God meant for good.

And she says, I know this is the enemy, and I know that he said he wanted children to be thrown in the Nile, but I know that they want my child, and I think this is God's calling in this moment.

And so she was able to do something that's difficult to consider.

What do I know about Levites?

That's important.

Levites had no possession of land, but they served in tents and tabernacles.

They were pastors, they were the priests.

And Yaakovah learned of the worship of Jehovah from a young age.

I can assure you before the circumstances of the basket, before the circumstances of the three months happened, that in her heart she had been in tune with God.

Her steps were in tune with God.

Her steps remind me of the old chorus.

Maybe you remember it.

I have decided to follow Jesus.

No turning back, no turning back.

The cross before me, the world behind me, no turning back, no turning back.

Joed operated this way.

I want you to know this morning, there's a few passages that make this statement.

Deuteronomy and Joshua are two of them that both repeat this command.

It says, do not turn aside right or left.

Proverbs 4.27 says it this way, do not swerve your foot left or right.

And we're commanded in Hebrews 10.23, it says, hold fast without wavering.

You see, God is at work in every circumstance.

And my question to us, are you holding that line?

Focus not here on what the world is saying.

Focus not here over here, but focus forward.

We've got what, 70, 80, 90, 100 years at this try.

Are we focusing forward for the life of our family, for the life of our kids, for the legacy we're passing on?

Like Ephesians said, withstand, stand, having done all to stand.

And Yaqavat in this moment passes the child back.

Well, let her be.

We see this.

Moses becomes the deliverer of a civilization.

I want you to look at Exodus chapter 3.

Exodus 3 · chapter mention

Moses sees God in this burning bush and Exodus 3, verse 7.

Exodus 3:7

And the Lord said, I have surely seen the oppression of my people who are in Egypt, and have heard the cry because of their taskmasters.

For I know their sorrows, so I've come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites and Hittites and Amorites, Perizzites, and Hivites.

Now, therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to me, and I've seen their oppression.

Verse 10 Come now, therefore, this is the Moses, and I will send you to Pharaoh, that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.

See, God takes this little boy, and he does some working and pruning and adjustments in his life, and he reveals himself to Moses, and as he has seen the oppression of his people, God has had enough.

And he says, You're the one.

I don't know if Yaqevag could have ever imagined or seen that this day something like this would happen, but he says, You're the one that I'm gonna deliver my people out of Egypt.

Don't miss the weight of the mother in the background.

God used a mother's obedience and a mother's surrender to deliver her son, the little boy that was in the bushes, she had to carry and let go of, and now God said, I'm gonna use that son.

You delivered him, but I'm gonna use him to deliver an entire nation.

Yaqah carried Moses, and I submit to you today that Moses carried the Israelites.

Moms, you have no idea what's in our hands into the promised land.

Moses would go on to face Pharaoh and be an adversary to Pharaoh.

But it never, I want to tell you, it would have never happened this way had Yakuvad not first walked with the Lord.

Moses carried Israel, but without Yaqev, there would never have been Moses.

Thank God for the moms.

And when I think about this church body and the way that you encourage me and encourage one another, I'm so thankful for godly moms.

I know, and listen, I know that I can't even know.

I know what I know, but I don't understand so much.

I don't have that mom thing.

You moms have it, and whatever it is, you believe the best and have the most hope for your child, even though they have frustrated and upset and failed and all the stumbling, you just still believe in the very best for that child.

And against all hope, you continue to hope.

Thank God for moms who don't give up on their children.

Does Yaqavat remind you of any other mother?

I thought about a mother who gave up a child.

There's a mother in Scripture named Mary.

Her son was not the savior of a civilization like Moses.

She gave up this son and he gave up his life, and she watched him become the deliverer of all people of all nations of all time.

Because of the obedience of one young girl, all the sins that fell on all of the people for all of human history would one day be delivered, the Messiah and Savior of the world.

Jesus was a better Moses.

But thank God for a mom who would sacrifice, and for moms who sacrifice their sons, and in Scripture, that they could sacrifice their lives.
