  6. Good morning Hub City Vineyard.

  7. It is Stephen.

  8. I am here with Ms. Kelly and for this series, The Build Back, we are going to interview

  9. volunteer leaders in our church just to see why they serve and in what ways do they serve.

  10. So Ms. Kelly, my first question for you is what areas do you serve within Hub City Vineyard?

  11. I think the easiest answer is what areas don't I serve.

  12. I love it here.

  13. I am in the cafe serving you coffee.

  14. I am at the kids area checking in the children.

  15. Most recently I'm volunteering with the spaghetti dinner and the run.

  16. Backpacks, Angel Tree and one of my favorite events from last year was Night to Shine.

  17. So I'm definitely looking forward to that as well.

  18. That was awesome.

  19. Yeah.

  20. That was awesome.

  21. Yep.

  22. You serve in so many capacities and how did you get into serving?

  23. That's a good question.

  24. So I'm pretty new in my walk in faith.

  25. So in November, I think it was November 2022, I walked into Hub City Vineyard because I

  26. knew I needed a community.

  27. So I came in and it just instantly felt like home.

  28. These are my people.

  29. This is where I belong.

  30. And through the course of the next few months, I went to team up and they're like, hey, this

  31. is where you can serve.

  32. So I said, okay, let me chill with the kids.

  33. Let me serve some coffee and see how that works.

  34. And just getting to know everybody just fueled my passion to, okay, I need help here.

  35. I need help here.

  36. And I've got skills that I know the church that can use.

  37. So it's been an exciting journey to meet everybody and get to know everybody through serving.

  38. I know coffee and kids are two of our favorite things.

  39. Yeah.

  40. You need one for the other, right?

  41. Why do you serve?

  42. Why do you volunteer, give your time to, like why?

  43. It fills me.

  44. It makes me happy.

  45. There's a total joy that's involved with serving other people and forming bonds and friendships.

  46. And it's part of my walk in faith.

  47. I learned from so many people about everything from the Bible to just living life here in

  48. Hagerstown and what our needs are and helping to fill those needs and it just, it fills

  49. something in my heart that makes me feel good.

  50. For people that are kind of on the edge.

  51. So let's think like you, November 2022.

  52. What would you say to that, Ms. Kelly or to the person in our church that might be a little

  53. on edge?

  54. Yeah.

  55. Yeah, I get it.

  56. When you walk in here, we're a big church where a lot of people, some of us are kind

  57. of loud.

  58. Yes.

  59. So I think it's the perfect way to get to know people on a more intimate level and to

  60. really understand why other people are at this church, why they're serving.

  61. And as you volunteer and you get to know people, you know, it starts to be like, hey, you weren't

  62. in church two weeks ago.

  63. You okay?

  64. What's going on?

  65. Can I pray for you?

  66. Like you just get to know people at a smaller level.

  67. And I truly think it makes it feel like our big church is truly not so big.

  68. Like we're all such a family.

  69. And through volunteering, I've been able to become part of that family.

  70. Well, Ms. Kelly, thank you so much for empowering, equipping and challenging the people in our

  71. church.

  72. We love you.

  73. We love everybody in the church.

  74. And yeah, thank you and keep doing what you're doing.

  75. You're so welcome.

  76. And I'll see you guys when I serve you coffee.
