  5. in your life, text CHANGEME to 9700. Thank you

  6. and enjoy the message. Hey, good morning everyone.

  7. So good to see you. It felt good to walk outside

  8. this morning and feel a little bit of warmth.

  9. We may be taking the turn towards springtime.

  10. I want to begin this morning by watching a really

  11. short advertisement that you may have seen before.

  12. However, this commercial has actually caused

  13. a lot of uproar and controversy within the Christian

  14. community. So let's watch. Don't ask me what

  15. you know is true. Don't have to tell you. I love

  16. your precious heart. I, I was standing. You were

  17. there. So as you're watching that, you may have

  18. seen an inner city policeman washing the feet

  19. of a young black man. You possibly could have

  20. seen an oil rig worker washing the feet of a

  21. climate activist. Maybe you saw an older woman

  22. washing the feet of a young woman outside an

  23. abortion clinic. And I find it interesting that

  24. as that commercial played, Once it was debuted,

  25. the biggest uproar and complaints came from the

  26. church, the Christian community. The ad was made

  27. by He Gets Us. It's a campaign of establishing

  28. a story, and their goal is simply to reintroduce

  29. our society to Jesus. I personally believe this

  30. ad made Christians uncomfortable because it made

  31. them realize that Jesus would have actually washed

  32. the feet of those said individuals, and they

  33. wouldn't. They wouldn't find themselves near

  34. them. And for Jesus to wash the feet of these

  35. individuals, the Christian community would deem

  36. that unimaginable. Impossible. When in reality,

  37. the commercial wasn't about he getting us. It

  38. was more about do we get him? Do we truly understand

  39. the way of Jesus? Because foot washing is what

  40. Jesus is all about. See, Jesus did the unimaginable.

  41. He washed the feet of his disciples to demonstrate

  42. to his followers this unglamorous act is actually

  43. how we should treat each other. And more importantly,

  44. how we should love our enemies. I mean, just

  45. think about it. Jesus washed Judas' feet who

  46. that very night would betray him. Jesus knew

  47. it was coming. Yet he chose to wash Judas' feet

  48. anyway. And when Jesus washed the remaining feet

  49. of his disciples, that simple act caused an uproar

  50. from them because rabbis don't wash feet. And

  51. more importantly, the Savior, the Messiah, would

  52. never be caught washing feet. And see, the disciples

  53. couldn't... They couldn't handle the power reversal,

  54. the upside down nature of the kingdom. Because

  55. this simple act of humility, which Jesus instructed

  56. his followers to continue, is still causing an

  57. uproar in our society today. Why? Well, because

  58. the way of Jesus goes against the grain. It does

  59. not follow political agendas. It especially doesn't

  60. follow humanity's selfish tendencies, and it

  61. challenges people to change. And I believe that's

  62. what God is inviting us all to this morning.

  63. So welcome to HCV, where for the month of March,

  64. we've been discussing the way of Jesus in our

  65. series, Rooted. If you're joining us from home,

  66. thank you for welcoming us into your Two weeks

  67. ago, I kicked a series off discussing what it

  68. means to be devoted to Jesus. Last week, I shared

  69. about how we are all created for community. Now,

  70. by a show of hands, did anyone do your homework?

  71. About four. So thank you for making me realize

  72. that I'm failing in my job. Some of you are thinking,

  73. what was my homework? If you remember, I encouraged

  74. you to have someone over for dinner or take someone

  75. out for lunch. And I believe the week's not over

  76. yet, so you can still do it today. So let's all

  77. get 100%. Can I get an amen? Thank you. This

  78. morning... We will be looking at serving others

  79. with humility, which, if we're honest, is probably

  80. one of the most challenging aspects of following

  81. Jesus, but one that Jesus lived out every single

  82. day. We're going to be reading through the original

  83. gospel account of Jesus' foot -watching, which

  84. took place on the night of Passover, just hours

  85. before Jesus would be betrayed into the hands

  86. of religious leaders. As I was standing in the

  87. back worshiping this morning, a sense of expectancy

  88. came over me. And I'm not really sure what that's

  89. about, but I believe that God has something special

  90. for us this morning. And I'm expectant to see

  91. the Holy Spirit move. So Holy Spirit, come. God,

  92. unplug our ears. Open our minds. More importantly,

  93. reveal our hearts to us as we desire to draw

  94. close to you. Move in this place, God. We give

  95. you this time, this space to have your way. In

  96. Jesus' name, amen. Our first thought this morning.

  97. See, God's kingdom is upside down. We will be

  98. reading from the book of John. And of course,

  99. John was one of Jesus' original 12 disciples

  100. and one of his biographers. And in chapter 13,

  101. he wrote about a time when Jesus was having dinner

  102. with his disciples celebrating Passover. It would

  103. be the last time that Jesus would eat with them.

  104. before his death. John describes the account

  105. this way in John chapter 13. Jesus knew that

    John 13 chapter mention

  106. the Father had given him authority over everything

  107. that he had come from God and would return to

  108. God. So he got up from the table, took off his

  109. robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, and poured

  110. water into a basin. Then he began to wash the

  111. disciples' feet, drying them with the towel he

  112. had around him. Just a question for you to ponder.

  113. What would you do if you were the most powerful

  114. person in this room? Would you host a party for

  115. yourself and invite everyone to come? If you're

  116. an artist, Would you announce that your album

  117. is dropping? If you're all over social media,

  118. would you post an Instagram reel of just how

  119. talented and special you are? See, powerful people

  120. within our society may do those things, but Jesus,

  121. Jesus wrapped a towel around his waist, got down

  122. on one knee, and watched dirty, stinky feet.

  123. Now we're talking about the king of the universe,

  124. the God who set our world in motion, actually

  125. creating the disciples' feet. And where do we

  126. find it? At the lowest possible position, washing

  127. their feet. Now why would he do this? Because

  128. see, in ancient times, people traveled by foot

  129. everywhere they went. Now the wealthier individuals

  130. would be wearing sandals, but you and I, chances

  131. are, we'd have nothing on our feet. And the dirty,

  132. dusty roads left their feet coated with dirt,

  133. grime, and mud. Which is why travelers, upon

  134. reaching their destination, they would be greeted

  135. by a host carrying a basin of water. to wash

  136. their feet. It was a simple gesture of welcome

  137. and kindness, not to mention the means of keeping

  138. dirt out of the home. Now in the homes of the

  139. wealthy or the powerful, this task was given

  140. to a servant or a slave or maybe the wife of

  141. the host. Which is why Jesus' decision to wash

  142. the disciples' feet It wasn't just humbling.

  143. It actually would have been viewed as humiliating.

  144. The Son of God intentionally chose the lowly,

  145. demeaning task of a common house servant. Lord

  146. Jesus literally kneeled down to wash, rinse,

  147. and towel dry the dirty, cracked, smelly, sore

  148. feet. of a group of outcasts and forgotten within

  149. that society. The lowest of lows. And this was

  150. the man the disciples believed to be the long

  151. -awaited ruler, who, according to biblical prophecy,

  152. would deliver Israel from its oppressors, the

  153. Romans. This was the God -man. So when Jesus

  154. begins to wash their feet, it was so incomprehensible

  155. to their way of thinking, so contrary to the

  156. culture which they lived, so offensive to their

  157. understanding of who this person should be that

  158. they just didn't even get it. They didn't understand

  159. it. Why? Well, we now know it's because God's

  160. kingdom is upside down. Both cultural custom

  161. and religious etiquette dictated that only a

  162. common slave, not even a Jewish slave, should

  163. perform this degrading task. No exalted man of

  164. God would stoop so low and perform such a lowly

  165. task. We know that from reading through the Gospels.

  166. When we read the parable of the Good Samaritan,

  167. the religious leaders walked on the other side.

  168. But Jesus was unlike any other king or revolutionary.

  169. His choice to wash the disciples' feet is a vivid

  170. demonstration of how Jesus' followers should

  171. live every day in this upside -down kingdom.

  172. See, the reason the commercial drew so much negative

  173. feedback from the Christian community? Conviction.

  174. conviction from the Holy Spirit that that's how

  175. I should be living. Because in God's kingdom,

  176. the way up is the way down. You want to be great?

  177. Then serve the least of these. And that is why

  178. Jesus washed Peter's feet, who would later deny

  179. him. That is why Jesus washed Judas' feet, who

  180. would later betray him for 30 silver coins. See,

  181. our second thought, Jesus, he was a servant leader.

  182. He knew that the Father had given him authority

  183. over everything. He'd come from God, would return

  184. to God. So he got up from the table, took off

  185. his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, and

  186. poured water into a basin. He began to wash the

  187. disciples' feet, drying them with a towel he

  188. had around him. See, for Jesus, nothing was beneath

  189. him. It's the way of downward mobility. And he

  190. is demonstrating for his disciples, this is the

  191. way of abundant life. This. He's challenging

  192. his followers to lay down their pride. Get over

  193. yourself. Sacrifice your egos, your very lives,

  194. humbly serving one another. Listen to Jesus'

  195. response to two brothers arguing over who would

  196. be the greatest in the kingdom in Matthew chapter

    Matthew 20 chapter mention

  197. 20. But Jesus, He called them together. You can

  198. almost view this as a huddle. And He says, you

  199. know that the rulers in this world lord it over

  200. their people and officials flaunt their authority

  201. over those under them. But among you, church,

  202. it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader

  203. among you must be your servant and whoever wants

  204. to be first among you must become your slave.

  205. For even the Son of Man came not to be served,

  206. but to serve others and give his life as a ransom

  207. for many. See, in God's kingdom, serving is not

  208. about control or power. It has nothing to do

  209. with it. When it comes to following Jesus, it's

  210. supposed to be different. We're to view ourselves

  211. as servants or slaves of others. And you're like,

  212. Chris, why would I be a slave to someone else?

  213. So they can see Jesus inside of us. When it comes

  214. to our relationship with Jesus, our focus becomes

  215. the kingdom. The kingdom of God forcefully advancing

  216. and how one decision can change a life for eternity.

  217. But unfortunately, we now know our third thought,

  218. the church, is full of spiritual consumers. See,

  219. Simon Peter knew this task of foot washing should

  220. not be performed by Jesus when he spoke these

  221. words in John 13, 6 -10. When Jesus came to Simon

  222. Peter, Peter said to him, Lord, are you going

  223. to wash my feet? So he's questioning what Jesus

  224. is doing. Jesus replied, you don't understand

  225. now what I am doing, but someday you will. Now

  226. notice Peter's response. No, Peter protested.

  227. You will never, ever wash my feet. Exclamation

  228. point. Literally, he's raising his voice. He

  229. is getting riled up towards Jesus. But you can

  230. picture Jesus replying, well, unless I wash you,

  231. you won't belong to me. But again, look, Simon

  232. Peter exclaimed, John is writing this narrative

  233. where we see Peter lashing out, then wash my

  234. hands and my head as well, Lord, not just my

  235. feet. Again, Jesus replies, a person who is bathed

  236. all over, does not need to wash except for the

  237. feet to be entirely clean. See, Peter, he was

  238. only focused on himself. He was focused on what

  239. he was going to get out of Jesus' actions to

  240. wash feet. And in Peter's response, we unfortunately

  241. see the way of the Western church, which has

  242. become consumer Christianity. Feed me. Give me

  243. what I want. Make me feel good. Give me that

  244. encounter. But don't expect anything from me

  245. on Monday. And see, when Jesus asked the disciples

  246. in verse 12, do you understand what I was doing?

  247. The answer, of course, is no. They didn't understand.

  248. Because their mindset was that people would be

  249. serving them. No, Jesus, you don't serve me.

  250. We get served. After all, we're following the

  251. Messiah, the Savior of the world. And now suddenly,

  252. though, with this example, Jesus is telling them,

  253. no, you have to serve each other. That's the

  254. way of following me. But unfortunately, this

  255. attitude the disciples had has become a part

  256. of the Western church, and many in the church

  257. have become spiritual consumers. People who look

  258. for churches to meet their needs. They come in

  259. and they listen to the music. Are they playing

  260. the right songs? Do they sing classic hymns?

  261. Is it modern worship? Are the vocals too loud?

  262. Are the drums too loud? Do I need earmuffs? What

  263. is happening here? Is the message built around

  264. how I feel? Or does it only focus on truth? Because

  265. if it focuses on truth, I'm out. I have children.

  266. What does the church do for them? Are they cared

  267. for? Are they safe during the service? Because

  268. I need my time to focus on God. See, spiritual

  269. consumerism places one's personal needs and desires

  270. at the center of God's universe. Instead of Jesus'

  271. example to us here, with foot washing. See, Jesus

  272. isn't looking for members to casually join an

  273. organization and occasionally attend their meetings.

  274. He is looking for people who will lay down their

  275. lives to follow him on mission together with

  276. others. He wants imitators, not admirers. He

  277. wants followers, not consumers. He wants family

  278. members on mission, not casual meeting attenders.

  279. See, Jesus is showing his disciples, you and

  280. me, the entire church, how to move away from

  281. being spiritual consumers to spiritual contributors,

  282. which is our final thought. See, God, he desires

  283. his church to be spiritual contributors. In the

  284. final verse of this teaching, we see Jesus challenging

  285. his disciples, do the same. John 13, 14 to 15

  286. and 17. And since I, your Lord and teacher, have

  287. washed your feet, you ought to wash each other's

  288. feet. I've given you an example to follow. Do

  289. as I've done to you. And then verse 17. Now that

  290. you know these things, God will bless you. for

  291. doing them. See, in other words, don't be consumers

  292. focused on yourselves and what you want. Be focused

  293. on others as Jesus was and what is best for the

  294. kingdom of God. See, Jesus doesn't just wash

  295. the disciples' feet. We all know he goes on to

  296. suffer and die on a cross as a means of giving

  297. you and me eternal life. Jesus sacrifices everything

  298. for us. And that, friends, is the invitation

  299. of the kingdom. That is the way of serving others

  300. with humility. See, serving isn't something we

  301. do. It becomes who we are. A servant leader pointing

  302. others to Jesus who lives inside of us. Spiritual

  303. contributors understand the church does not exist

  304. for them. It's not just an organization. The

  305. church is a living, breathing organism that possesses

  306. abundant life to what? Be given away. Not kept

  307. from the world. Not to hoard it inside of here.

  308. Now we're to go love the world. In Matthew 22,

  309. Jesus replied, you must love the Lord your God

  310. with all your heart. All your soul and all your

  311. mind. This is the first and greatest commandment,

  312. and the second is equally important. Love your

  313. neighbor as yourself. See, God created you and

  314. me to be a blessing to others. He sends us out

  315. on mission every single day to do the stuff by

  316. first loving others, serving them, and inviting

  317. them into the kingdom. See, spiritual contributor's

  318. worldview, it has to change from, well, what's

  319. in it for me, to know I'm living in this world

  320. by pointing others to him, by being focused on

  321. Jesus. And I'm so blessed to be a part of a community

  322. of faith that's full of servant leaders. You

  323. know, as you pull in, we have a parking team

  324. and a welcome team at the door and a cafe team

  325. at the coffee bar and a kids team and a youth

  326. team and a worship team, tech team, camera teams,

  327. you name it, we have a team. And they are the

  328. ones that make this place go. They are the ones

  329. that are setting the example for all of us. To

  330. follow. Which leads to our simple action steps.

  331. And I want to be honest with you this morning.

  332. I'm going to lay out the difference between spiritual

  333. consumers and spiritual contributors. And there's

  334. five differences that I have found. And my challenge

  335. to you this morning as I share them is, if in

  336. one of them you find yourself as a spiritual

  337. consumer, That's the Holy Spirit inviting you

  338. to change. That's the Holy Spirit whispering

  339. in your ear, hey, it's time to lay it down. It's

  340. time to jump on the team and be a part of all

  341. that God is doing, which leads us to our first

  342. one. Consumers are spectators. Contributors are

  343. participants. See, church, Jesus followers are

  344. not called to sit in the stands, watch the game,

  345. and celebrate what Jesus is doing as fans. No,

  346. we're not fans. We're followers. We're called

  347. to be on the field making a difference. Now,

  348. Paul, I love Paul because he lays out my job

  349. description in Ephesians chapter 4. Would you

    Ephesians 4 chapter mention

  350. like to hear my job description? Ephesians 4

  351. .12. Their responsibility, and should I say Chris's

  352. responsibility, is to equip God's people to do

  353. his work and build up the church, the body of

  354. Christ. Did everyone see that? See, Paul clearly

  355. stated that the purpose of church staff, church

  356. leaders, is to equip you, God's people, to do

  357. his work. I'm not called to do all the work.

  358. Thank God. Because it's not physically possible.

  359. I'm not the only one called to share Jesus with

  360. others. We are all called to do that because

  361. as followers of Jesus and as contributors, We

  362. can help those in our sphere of influence who

  363. are young, stagnant, unstable, forgotten, confused

  364. in their faith get off the bench and in the game.

  365. And it's the best thing you'll ever do. See,

  366. I'm called to be the coach. And I often view

  367. our Sunday gatherings as a halftime talk. And

  368. we're down by 10. We're down by 10, church. But

  369. the good news is, I know we're going to win.

  370. I know we're going to win. But we win when we're

  371. all participating. Which leads us to number two.

  372. See, consumers are cisterns of truth. Contributors

  373. are conduits of blessing. So I want you to reflect

  374. on your personal life this morning. I did a celebration

  375. of life this week. And the son of, it's actually

  376. my uncle that passed away, shared a poem called

  377. The Dash. And the poem was about how on a tombstone

  378. there's a start date where you were born and

  379. an end date where you died. But between those

  380. two, there is a dash, your life that you're living

  381. this morning. So this morning, is your life the

  382. Jordan River or the Dead Sea? Because see, the

  383. Jordan River is an active body of water flowing

  384. from north to south. The Dead Sea, on the other

  385. hand, has no outlets. Water comes in from the

  386. north to the lowest point in the world and doesn't

  387. flow out. The water is stagnant, smelly, and

  388. dries up. So you're either flowing like the Jordan

  389. River as God uses you to impact the lives of

  390. other people for his kingdom, or you're stagnant

  391. and lifeless like the Dead Sea. And see, if we're

  392. continually growing closer to Jesus and learning

  393. more about him, you have one or two options.

  394. You can hoard what you've learned and keep it

  395. for yourself, or you can give it away as a benefit

  396. to others. Because see, here's the reality. You

  397. can read through the Bible a hundred times, and

  398. I'll give you a high five and tell you to do

  399. it a hundred more. You can learn all about Jesus

  400. throughout the Gospels, how he lived his life.

  401. But if you only do it for your edification and

  402. so that other people look up to you, you're a

  403. consumer. You're not a contributor. But if we're

  404. conduits of the Holy Spirit, listen to what is

  405. produced in our lives, Galatians 5. But the Holy

  406. Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives.

  407. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,

  408. faithfulness, gentleness. and self -control.

  409. And see, I personally believe that we all agree

  410. that's what life is supposed to look like. So

  411. this morning, let's choose to be conduits, not

  412. consumers. Which leads us to number three, consumers

  413. criticize, contributors appreciate all that God

  414. is doing. By show of hands, have you ever met

  415. anyone with the gift of constructive criticism?

  416. In other words, a person in your life that always

  417. finds something wrong. Yep. We all know them.

  418. Unfortunately, critical spirits divide churches.

  419. And unfortunately, the consumerism mindset leads

  420. people to be critical about everything. And let's

  421. be honest, does HCV do everything right? No way!

  422. Of course not! We're far from perfect, and we

  423. recognize that there are changes that we need

  424. to make. But we all pause and reflect on what

  425. God is doing in our community of faith. It's

  426. evident that his presence is in this place. It's

  427. evident. Just yesterday, we opened our doors

  428. for a memorial service, a celebration of life

  429. for people that don't even go to this community

  430. of faith. And it was over 500 people here to

  431. celebrate a woman of God. And we do that because

  432. we welcome the community. Last week I shared

  433. about a man that God supernaturally healed his

  434. heart. Every single week I give words of knowledge

  435. and people come up here to our prayer team and

  436. receive healing every single week. Last January

  437. we baptized 63 people. And we already have upwards

  438. of 30 signed up for Good Friday. And some of

  439. you need to make that decision because you're

  440. realizing you're a consumer. See, God is motivating

  441. us. to change, and we're called to celebrate

  442. what he's doing in our midst. The author of Hebrews

  443. writes it this way in Hebrews 13. Therefore,

  444. let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice

  445. of praise to God, the fruit of lips that give

  446. thanks to his name, and don't forget to do good

  447. and to share with those in need. These are the

  448. sacrifices of what pleases God. See, when Jesus

  449. followers aren't investing in others, aren't

  450. serving others, and you know what it allows for?

  451. Idle time. And idle time leads to the focus on

  452. the negative, in other words, becoming critical.

  453. So who are you serving? What team are you on?

  454. Because, see, we're not perfect. Our community

  455. of faith never will be perfect because you and

  456. I are in it. But it will improve when all of

  457. us are on a team. Which leads us to number four.

  458. Consumers sit and get. Contributors go and serve.

  459. Now notice 1 Peter 4 .10. God has given each

  460. of you, say me. That was really bad. Say me.

  461. Thank you. God has given you a gift from his

  462. great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them. Use

  463. them well to serve one another. See, it's completely

  464. fine to sit and be filled by biblical teaching

  465. and engage Jesus in worship, but that can't be

  466. all. If that's all, that becomes religion. Spiritual

  467. contributors take it a step further. They know

  468. they're being filled. for a specific purpose

  469. of filling others who are still empty. I mean,

  470. think about it. Think of the potential this team

  471. has if all of us sitting in these seats, which

  472. is probably close to 400 people, choose this

  473. week To go and serve someone in our sphere of

  474. influence that is hurting. You're talking about

  475. another 400 people that are being encouraged

  476. to join the community of faith and experience

  477. the abundance of God. See, we're not called to

  478. sit and be filled and then leave. We're called

  479. to sit and be filled and give it away. Who are

  480. you giving it away to? Which leads us to our

  481. final step. Consumers take for themselves. Contributors

  482. give to others. I'm just being honest with you.

  483. Following Jesus can be hard. It can be difficult.

  484. Jesus even told us, hey, you're going to have

  485. trouble. And you know why we have trouble? Because

  486. we have to deal with each other. Dealing with

  487. people is challenging. But that is why it's increasingly

  488. crucial to be sure that we're being filled from

  489. the only source who can sustain us to do the

  490. work. And who is that source? Jesus. See, think

  491. about it. If you think about your life, if you're

  492. in a relationship with Jesus, the good news was

  493. shared with you by someone, right? That was meant

  494. for someone else, which is you. And if you stop

  495. the story, then the kingdom of God is not forcefully

  496. advancing. See, what you were given, you're meant

  497. to be given away. It's meant to be shared. And

  498. if we believe the church is simply this building

  499. or a destination, then all the people, Outside

  500. of these walls, who are hurting and desiring

  501. for someone to give them hope, will never hear

  502. it. See, church, we're called to do the stuff.

  503. And some of you are thinking, okay, well, what's

  504. the stuff I'm called to do? Matthew 10, 7 through

  505. 8. This is what I want you to do this week. This

  506. is your homework. Go and announce to them. That

  507. the kingdom of heaven is here. It's here. Heal

  508. the sick. Raise the dead. Cure those with leprosy.

  509. Cast out demons. Give as freely as you have received.

  510. See, that's what it looks like to give it away.

  511. That's what it looks like to do the stuff. Right?

  512. Sharing the good news first starts that our actions,

  513. who we are, is a reflection to the world that

  514. we're different. When our actions are different,

  515. then our words that we speak will be heard and

  516. we can speak the good news. But then God will

  517. give us opportunity to lay hands on and heal

  518. the sick. And that's intimidating. But that's

  519. where faith comes in. That's where we take a

  520. big step of faith to see God move. And when God

  521. uses you, to be a conduit of his healing, the

  522. miraculous, or the gift of new life to someone

  523. else? Listen, you'll never be the same. You will

  524. never be the same. Will you stand with me? So

  525. I said earlier, I said earlier that I had an

  526. expectancy this morning. Did you guys hear that?

  527. And what does that mean? An expectancy is like

  528. an excitement. It's butterflies in my stomach.

  529. I used to get it all the time. I used to be a

  530. wrestler when I was a kid. I started wrestling

  531. when I was like four and wrestled until I was

  532. 14. And every time, I'm not making this up, whenever

  533. I was about to wrestle, I would go in the bathroom

  534. and vomit. I was so expectant and nervous. That's

  535. expectancy, right? If you have that type of expectancy,

  536. I want you to come up front here. If you have

  537. like an expectancy, yeah, come up front. If you

  538. have an expectancy, like you're excited, there's

  539. something happening here, it's different. You're

  540. not sure what it is. You're just kind of like,

  541. I'm not sure, but I'm just going to do it. If

  542. you have like an expectancy, come up forward.

  543. Make room. Mike's coming. Come, Holy Spirit.

  544. You have an expectancy. There's just something

  545. in you that's just, ooh, it's stirring. You're

  546. just, I mean, I'm not sure what's going on. I've

  547. never felt this before. It's different. It's

  548. going to wait. Don't worry. You won't miss lunch.

  549. Everyone just calm down. Anybody else? Expectancy.

  550. Anybody else? Yeah. I love it when young people

  551. come. Anybody else? Just have an expectancy,

  552. an excitement. That's it. That's it. We'll wait.

  553. It's all good. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, they're still

  554. coming. Make room. They're still coming. There

  555. we go. Come on. Yep. Come on. That's it. That's

  556. it. And you feel that, don't you? It's like this

  557. tangible presence, this excitement, and you don't

  558. know what to do with it. Is that what you feel?

  559. Is that what you feel? All right, well, I want

  560. to read this over you. You ready? And over all

  561. of us. Everyone close your eyes. Matthew 23,

  562. 11 to 12. The greatest among you must be a servant.

  563. But those who exalt themselves will be humbled.

  564. And those who humble themselves will be exalted.

  565. Now see, by you coming forward, you just humbled

  566. yourself. You just said, I have this expectancy

  567. because I know that God wants to use me to do

  568. something. That's what you came forward to do.

  569. And now the Holy Spirit has just been poured

  570. all over you. And you can sense this tangible

  571. presence, which is a beautiful thing. Okay, now

  572. you guys up front here, look at me. Look at me.

  573. Okay, here's what you're going to do. Okay? You're

  574. going to go out there, and you're going to pray

  575. for the person that God leads you to. You got

  576. that? All right, go. All right, now, the rest

  577. of us, you may get ready, because they may find

  578. you, and they're excited. They're excited. The

  579. rest of us, As I do every week, we're going to

  580. pray a simple prayer because I believe there's

  581. someone here that wants to give their life to

  582. Jesus. Amen? So for those of you that are not

  583. being prayed for, let's pray this simple prayer

  584. together. Jesus, I'm broken. I'm full of doubt,

  585. shame, regret, sin. Change me. I believe. You're

  586. God's son. I believe you died for me. Make me

  587. new. Set me free. Fill me, God, with your spirit

  588. and anticipation. In Jesus' name, amen. All right,

  589. before we go, there was several words of knowledge.

  590. Our prayer team will be here on my right. You

  591. have discomfort behind your left ear. You have

  592. a right knee muscle or tendon tightness on the

  593. outer side of your right knee. You have left

  594. arm muscles or nerve condition causing loss of

  595. mobility. You have pain in your left eye that

  596. extends to the back of your head. So if any of

  597. those are you, our prayer team will be here on

  598. the right. Okay, listen. I am full of expectation

  599. of what God wants to do in your life. And my

  600. prayer for all of you is, this week, you contribute

  601. to someone else's life. Amen? That there's not

  602. 400 of us in here celebrating, proclaiming God's

  603. promises and greatness, but there's, by the end

  604. of the week, 800. Because that's how the kingdom

  605. of God works. So next Sunday, You get a special

  606. treat. Jess will be sharing at all three of our

  607. Sunday gatherings. So be expectant for God to

  608. move. Thank you for joining us online. I'm going

  609. to my left side door. So keep that door shut.

  610. I love you guys. Have an incredible Sunday. And

  611. if someone's praying for you, don't leave.
