Let's take our Bibles and go to Numbers

Numbers 31 · chapter mention

chapter 31.

Numbers 31. Last week we covered the

first 18 verses of this lengthier

chapter and just dealing with the battle

against Midian where God avenged Israel

of the deceitful and alluring attacks

against Israel to try to seduce them

back into immorality as well as

idolatry. And though Israel was

responsible for their sin and God held

them responsible as 24,000 died in a

plague, God is also careful to avenge

his people of the evil that seeks to

diso to deceive them and to ruin them.

And we learn very simply that Christ is

our avenger. that he not only saved us

from our sin and gave us eternal life,

but he promises to return and avenge us

of this evil world that seeks to draw us

back into the sin that we've been

delivered from. That's what we saw last

week. And now, as we look at the latter

part of this chapter, this is really the

the response of Israel to the vengeance

that God has brought on their behalf.

And we're going to see really how we

ought to respond to Christ's vengeance

for us as well. The title of our message

tonight is the avenger is worthy. The

avenger is worthy. If you found your

place, you can stand as we give honor to

God's word. We'll begin our reading

tonight in verse number 19. And we'll

read a good portion of this text. We'll

skip a little bit of it uh to the end.

And let's begin reading in numbers 31

19.

It says, "And do ye abide without the

camp 7 days. Whosoever hath killed any

person and whosoever hath touched any

slain. Purify both yourselves and your

captives on the third day and on the

seventh day. and purify all your

raignments and all that is made of skins

and all the work of goats hair and all

the things made of wood. And Eleazar the

priest said unto the men of war which

went to battle, "This is the ordinance

of the law which the Lord commanded

Moses. Only the gold and the silver and

the brass and the iron, the tin and the

lead, everything that may abide the

fire, ye shall make it to go through the

fire, and it shall be clean.

Nevertheless, it shall be purified with

the water of separation. And all that

abideth not the fire ye shall make go

through the water, and ye shall wash

your clothes on the seventh day, and ye

shall be clean. And afterward ye shall

come into the camp. And the Lord spake

unto Moses, saying, Take the sum of the

prey that was taken, both of man and of

beast, thou and Eleazar the priest, and

the chief fathers of the congregation,

and divide the prey into two parts,

between them that took the war upon them

who went out to battle, and between all

the congregation. and levy a tribute

unto the Lord of the men of war which

went out to battle one soul of 500 both

of the persons and of the beaves and of

the asses and of the sheep take it of

their half and give it unto Eleazar the

priest for an heave offering of the Lord

and the children of Israel's half thou

shalt take one portion of 50 of the

persons of the bees of the asses and of

the flocks of all manner of beasts and

give them unto the Levites

which keep the charge of the tabernacle

of the Lord. And Moses and Eleazar the

priest did as the Lord commanded Moses.

And so now it's going to tally up

everything that was gathered here over

the next several verses. And they're

going to divide it up as the Lord said,

one out of every 500 for the men of war,

one out of every 50 for the people. And

it's offered up as a heave offering, a

tribute offering uh to the Lord. Now, I

want you to look at verse 48.

And the officers which were over the

thousands of the hosts, the captains of

the thousands, and the captains of

hundreds, came near unto Moses, and they

said unto Moses, "Thy servants have

taken the sum of the men of war, which

are under our charge, and there lacketh

not one man of us. We have therefore

brought an oblation for the Lord that

every man hath gotten of jewels of gold,

chains, and bracelets, rings, earrings,

and tablets to make an atonement for our

souls before the Lord. And Moses and

Eleazar the priest took the gold of

them, even all brought jewels. And all

the gold of the offerings that they

offered up to the Lord of the captains

of thousands and of the captains of

hundreds was 16,750

shekels. For the men of war had taken

the spoil every man for himself. And

Moses and Eleazar the priest took the

gold of the captains of thousands and of

hundreds and brought it into the

tabernacle of the congregation for a

memorial for the children of Israel

before the Lord. May God bless her in

his word. You can be seated. We'll

consider our text tonight.

December 7th, 1941

is famously known as the day that will

live in infamy.

Japanese forces bombed Pearl Harbor in

an unprecedented surprise attack on the

United States. Millions woke up that

morning to what they believed would be

an ordinary Sunday until they heard over

the airwaves and by word of mouth that

Pearl Harbor had been attacked. That

battleships had been sunk. More than

2400 were killed and over a thousand

wounded in that attack. And as you can

imagine, Americans were first filled

with shock and grief that very quickly

turned to anger and resolve. The next

day, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt

gave that famous speech and declared war

on Japan.

The attack and the a few months later,

what is called the Dittle raid was

underway. A group of 16 B-25 bombers

took off from the USS Hornet and flew

under the radar just above the waves for

650 miles until they reached Tokyo. They

immediately pulled up to 1,500 ft to

drop a barrage of of bombs all over

Tokyo. And although they did not hit

their primary targets, and although

Doolittle himself felt like he would be

court marshaled for missing them, the

reality is the exposure of the

vulnerability of the Japanese

both caused them to doubt their own

protection, but also boosted morale.

Back in the United States, enlistments

soared and in some small way, those 80

brave airmen avenged the attack on Pearl

Harbor.

When Lieutenant Colonel James Doolittle

returned, President Roosevelt awarded

him with the Medal of Honor and a

two-grade promotion to Brigadier

General. Of those 16 bombers, every one

of them crash landed in that battle. One

in the Soviet Union and all the rest of

them over the Chinese jungles.

And because of their brave actions, when

they knew this was a no return mission,

when the majority of them in fact did

survive and did return, they were

awarded greatly for their bravery, just

as doolittle was. And because of what

those 80 raiders did to avenge the

attack on Pearl Harbor, we believe them

to this day to be worthy of whatever

honor they were given, whatever rewards

some of them received, whatever

decorations some of them got. Why?

Because avengers are worthy of honor.

Well, what honor should we bestow upon

the one who avenges us of all our

enemies?

How can we give honor to Christ who not

only paid sin's price of death for us,

but also promised to avenge us of all

that seeks to attack and allure us back

into the grips of sin?

Last week we saw that just as God

avenged the Israelites of the alluring

attacks of the Midionites, one day

Christ will return and he will avenge us

of our enemies. He will destroy Satan.

He will cast down every evil king and

every evil kingdom and spoil this world

of darkness in a decisive victory.

Christ will once for all avenge us of

the snares of evil.

And just as those dittle raiders were

worthy of worthy of honor from the

nation they avenged, Christ is worthy of

honor from us. And we're not left to

figure out what that honor should be

because I believe that Numbers 31 gives

us a good road map of what that should

look like.

Following God's vengeance on the

Midianites, we find that there's a

command to be followed. There's a

portion to be divided and there's an

oblation that is given. And these three

ways that Israel honored God because of

the way he avenged them are ways that we

can honor Christ for the ways that he

avenges us. I'm going to give them to

you now and then we'll see them in the

text. Because Christ will avenge us.

Number one, he is worthy of our

obedience.

Number two, he is worthy of his portion.

And number three, he is worthy of our

lives,

our obedience, his portion, and our

lives. Let's see it from the text.

Number one, he's worthy of our

obedience. In verses 19- 24, Moses

orders the army to follow God's command

to be purified from death.

See, after this battle with the

Midionites, the whole entire army would

have been defiled by their contact with

the dead. And the same thing would have

been true of of their clothes and of the

captives, the materials, the the spoil

that they gathered, everything that

would have touched the Midionites. It

would have been defiled first of all

because of their wickedness and their

sin. But then primarily what this is

dealing with is the contact with the

dead.

See, because e death defiles everything

it touches. We've seen that as we came

through Leviticus. And because God's

essence is life, death cannot stand in

his presence. And so, Israel must be

purified from the defilement of death

before they can reenter the camp of God.

That purification process was given to

us in chapter 19 following the rebellion

of Kora when 14,000 people died in a

plague there and they were left to bury

the dead. He gave them this purification

process that they were to stay outside

of the camp for seven days. And they

were to take the ashes of a hepher, a

red hepher that was offered for a burnt

offering, and they were to mix those

ashes outside the camp with what's

called the water of separation. And and

the death of that heer mixed with this

cleansing water would purify them from

the defilement of death. And so they

would have the water sprinkled on them

on the third day and then on the seventh

day they would wash their clothes with

this water of separation and then they

could re-enter the camp. At that time

God also said that anything that has

touched a dead body whether it is their

clothes whether it is their furniture at

home or if it's the walls of their house

or or their dishes whatever it might be

anything that touches death cannot be

within the camp. it must first be

purified.

And so what happens here is Moses is

ordering Israel to follow God's command.

He he tells them as we read through

this, he says, just look at all of the

commands there in verse 19, abide

without the camp seven days. Whosoever

hath killed any person, whosoever hath

touched any dead, purify yourselves and

your captives on the third day and on

the seventh day. and purify your

raignment and all that is made of skins

and all work of goat's hair and all

things made of wood. And then you have

Eleazar here as well. He says to the the

men of war which went to battle, "This

is the ordinance of the law which the

Lord commanded Moses." And so he brings

it back to them and reminds them to keep

this law. And so he tells them that only

the gold, the silver, the brass, the

iron and tin and lead, everything that

may abide the fire ye shall make it go

through the fire and it shall be clean.

Nevertheless, it shall be purified with

the water of separation. So they have to

take the precious metals and put it

through the fire and let the fire melt

and burn off the impurities. And then

they are to sprinkle that with the water

of separation as well. And only then can

it be clean. And so then he says, "If

there are things that cannot abide the

fire, then make it go through the water,

and then you shall wash your clothes on

the seventh day, and ye shall be clean,

and afterward ye shall come into the

camp." What's going on here is that God

has given Israel this full and decisive

victory over the Midionites. And yet,

they are all defiled. And their first

response, Moses leads them here, not to

just re-enter the camp as if nothing

happened, but emphasizes the importance

of following God's ordinance, obeying

God's commands. Why? Because he gave

them this great victory. And so, I want

to say to you that because Christ will

avenge us, he too is worthy of our

obedience.

He's worthy that we would follow his

word, that we would live according to

his word. And let me just say that that

starts with salvation. Because for any

of us to be able to enter God's

presence, we too must be purified and

cleansed from death. But it's not by the

ashes of a red heer. It's by the atoning

blood of Jesus Christ. Because by the

blood of bulls and goats shall no flesh

be saved. It's only by the blood of

Jesus. And so we must be believe that he

paid it all. That sin leaves a crimson

stain, but he washes it white as snow.

And when you believe Jesus died for your

sin and rose again, and you call upon

him to be your savior, your slate is

white clean. You are purified. You are

cleansed from death to live forever in

God's presence. We must obey the gospel

first.

But if Christ was willing to die for us

and rise for us and return to avenge us,

certainly he is worthy of our obedience

on a day-to-day basis. In John 14:21,

John 14:21

Jesus said, "He that hath my

commandments and keepeth them, he it is

that loveth me." The sign or the mark

that you love and value and appreciate

Jesus for who he is and for all that

he's done is that you keep his

commandments that you obey him. I want

to say it this way that Christ is worthy

that you should read and study and know

his commandments. Not to fill our heads

with spiritual knowledge, but to conform

our hearts to faithful obedience. I want

you to notice something key in this

text. Or maybe I should say that's not

in this text.

God did not need to instruct Moses and

Eleazar how to do this. Why? He had

already given them the instruction years

prior at the rebellion of Kora.

But because they studied and they knew

and obeyed God's commandments, they

could call it back to mind and they just

go right to telling the people, "You

need to stay out of the camp seven days.

You need to purify yourselves. You need

to purify the captives and all of the

spoil. Everything must be purified on

the third day and then again on the

seventh day." They knew what they were

supposed to do because they studied and

knew God's commands. And so I want to

ask you, do you know exactly what to do?

Do you know what to do in the moment? Do

you know what God expects from you as a

husband or a wife in your marriage? Do

you know what God expects of you as a

parent or what God expects of you as a

child? Because his word tells us what

we're supposed to do, how we are

supposed to obey. Do you know what God

expects from you when that guy or that

girl you love wants to take things too

far before you get married? Do you know?

Do you know how to faithfully obey God

when you're asked to participate in

shady practices in business or with your

taxes?

See, the reality is that we ought to

know God's word in a way that we know

what to do when it meets the moment.

Well, how do I know what to do? How do I

know what the commandments are? How do I

know to obey? You remember before you

got your learner's permit that you got

that little driver's handbook and it

told you as a young 15 or 16year-old all

of the ins and outs of driving. You know

how you're supposed to stop right at the

stop sign and then inch forward a little

bit. or when you arrive at a four-way

stop, everybody at the same time that

it's the person to the right that gets

the right of way and then when you're at

a roundabout that it's the person coming

through the roundabout on the left that

gets the right away. You know, all those

rules that evidently nobody knows.

We got that handbook and that's how we

learned it. We had to study it to to be

able to take that test and ace it in the

moment when the pen was in our hands. I

want to say to you that God has left

behind for us an inspired handbook in

his word. Not so that we can uh just

just fill our heads with knowledge, but

to help us navigate our way from here to

heaven in a way that is faithful to God.

He calls us to be faithful and obedient

to his word. Why? Because of what Christ

has done for us.

We should be able to know what to do in

the moment because we care about obeying

God's word. And so, because Christ is

our avenger, he's worthy first of all of

our obedience. But I want you to notice

in the second section that Christ is

worthy of his portion.

I want you to look at verse 25. It says,

"And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

Take the sum of the prey that was taken,

both of man and of beasts, thou and

Eleazar the priests, and the chief of

the fathers of the congregation, and

divide the prey into two parts, between

them that took the war upon them who

went out to battle, and between all the

congregation." And so, they're going to

gather the the total amount of the

spoil, and they're going to split it in

half. And half of it is going to go to

the 12,000 that went to battle. and then

half is going to go to all the rest. And

so when you when you see this, God is

giving the people who fought the battle

more of the spoils of the battle. And so

he's going to divide this up between

them. But then God does something else.

He says that of the uh of the 12,000 of

their half that they are to give one out

of every 500

to the Lord as a tribute as a an

offering of recognition of offering of

payment. They are giving a portion of

theirs to the Lord and then they're

going to give it to the Lord and theirs

is going to go to Eleazar, the high

priest, who's going to offer it as a

heave offering. And that means that he's

he's he's not literally burning it on

the fire, but he's heaving it up as a

presentation of gift and gratitude to

the Lord. And then Eleazar is able to

take that to himself and put it to use

in the service of God. Now you have the

congregation who has the other half and

one out of every 50 is going to be taken

uh from theirs and it's going to be

given to the Levites. Those who also

dedicate themselves to serving full-time

in the tabernacle ministry. But what I

want to draw our attention to is that

God gives Israel a huge portion of the

spoil. A huge portion. will not take the

time to read through all this. I'll just

give you the numbers. 675,000

sheep. There are uh 72,000 cattle,

61,000 donkeys, and 32,000 captives that

would become servants for them. And out

of all of that, the Lord only required

for himself a portion of 1.1%.

I want you to think about that for a

moment. God gave 98.9%

of the spoil to the people of a victory

that he won for them in this battle. A

vengeance that he took for them. See,

God is a very generous God to the people

that he redeems and the people that he

avenges. And he only requires a small

portion. But let me say this, he is

worthy of every portion he requires.

And because Christ will avenge us, I

just want to say that he too is worthy

of his portion.

Throughout scripture, God's people have

responded to God's grace by giving him a

particular portion of what he has

provided them. We've seen it as we've

come through the Old Testament that when

God gave Abraham a victory over the five

kings of Canaan, he gave God a tenth of

all the spoil. We saw that Jacob, when

God safely brought him back from Syria,

that he fulfilled a vow to give God a

tenth of all that God had given him.

Every single year, we've seen that God

required Israel to give him a tenth of

their increase. as well as on Pentecost,

the first fruits of their harvest, the

first sheath of their their crops and

their fruit was to be given as a heave

offering to the Lord and enjoyed by the

priests and the Levites. What God is

doing is he is setting up before his

people here. that everything you have

comes from me and I'm going to bless you

richly and I'm going to care for your

needs and you're going to have an

abundance to be able to live off of and

I require a small portion back lest you

forget how you got it in the first

place.

And that's what God is doing here with

Israel. But notice this is not a a

tenth. This is 1.1%

of a rich spoil that God has given them.

And so I don't think the principle that

it's drawing here is specifically tithe,

but it's this that God's worthy of a

portion of everything that he gives us,

especially because he is the one who

saved us and he is the one who will

avenge us.

This is where this idea of tithing comes

from though. And countless Christians

through the centuries have chosen in

accordance with God's word to give a

tenth of all that God has given them.

And what we notice in scripture is that

tithing is a response of worship to God

for blessings received from God.

That it's a response to the grace that

we have received through Christ. It is a

response to God's faithful care for us

throughout each year. And when we

consider what Christ has already done

for us and all that Christ will do for

us, he is worthy that we would designate

to him a portion of what he gives to us.

He's worthy of it. But but we also

notice that this offering of the spoil

is in addition to their tithe. This is

not their tithe. This is not their

crops. This is an added blessing from

God that that he has given to them. And

yet from this, God says it's right for

you to designate even just a small

minuscule portion back to me because I

want you to know you can't do this on

your own.

God's people have often given a portion

above their tithe as free will

offerings, whether it's out of a gift of

gratitude or a gift to help and support

uh uh others or or a gift of the

fulfillment of a vow. You know, we it

could be a love offering that you give

to a missionary or something that you uh

designate a portion to missions or you

vow to give a portion of each bonus that

you might get from the Lord. You give

God that portion out of gratitude and

you remind yourself that because of all

that he's done for you, Christ is worthy

of his portion.

Some might ask, why give so much?

But maybe the better question is why not

give so much?

See, when we fully grasp all that he's

done for us a after what we know that he

will do for us when he returns, he is

worthy to receive the portion of what he

gives to me.

What we recognize is God's still

generous to us, isn't he?

He still gives us a lot. He still

provides for us. He still meets for our

needs. Here in the United States of

America, even though the the costs are

rising and even though it's so crazy

expensive, the reason why many of us

struggle is not because we can't make

ends meet. The reason why many of us

struggle is because we live on more than

what we need.

When if we would really just be grateful

for what God gives us, which sure help

us make it by a lot better.

We ought to be grateful. He doesn't

require much of us, but what he does

require, he is worthy of every portion.

And so, because Christ is our avenger,

he's first of all worthy of our

obedience. Number two, he's worthy of

our portion. But then number three,

Christ is worthy of our lives, our very

lives. We see this in verse 48- 54.

the officers over the thousands, the

captains over hundreds. They come to

Moses in verse 48 with a report of the

casualties from the battle. It says in

verse 49, "And they said unto Moses, thy

servants have taken the sum of the men

of war which went which are under our

charge, and there lacketh not one man of

us."

There were literally zero casualties on

Israel's side of this battle. That is

nothing short of a miracle. You know

what that tells us? This battle was not

won by Israel, this battle was won by

God. That though they were engaged in

this battle, they were perfectly

protected and perfectly preserved

through it. I can't help but think when

when the book of Revelation says that

Christ returns with 10,000s of his

saints, we're there. We're present. We

may be around with him, but it's Christ

who is winning the battle just like God

was here for Israel.

And notice what happens in verse 50.

This is in light of the fact that not

one of them died. In light of the fact

that God perfectly preserved all 12,000

of them, they said, "We have therefore

brought an oblation for the Lord. what

every man hath gotten of jewels of gold

and chains and bracelets and rings and

earrings and tablets to make an

atonement for our souls before the Lord.

Now, what's going on here is that they

are actually following God's instruction

from Exodus 30. The first time that they

counted heads, God instructed them that

when they any any time that they count

the people, they are to offer a half

shekele of silver for each head counted

to make an atonement for their souls.

And the purpose of that offering was

really to convey this. There is a price

on our head and that price must be paid

for us to live and not face a plague

because that was what God warned. And

what happens here is they have counted

up the sum. So they've counted the heads

and they too are concerned with obeying

God's word. But notice the amount that

they give. If you look at verse 52, and

all the gold of the offering that they

offered up to the Lord of the captains

of thousands and of the captains of

hundreds was 16,750

shekels, not of silver, but of gold.

When you do the math, I mean, this

almost adds up to three times the amount

of what was required of them in silver.

And because of the fact that this is

gold and it's much more than the half

shekele, this is an offering that is way

bigger than the regular ransom atonement

that God required. Why is that? Well, it

says that they brought an oblation.

This is a gift of attitude, a gift of

gratitude, excuse me. They are grateful

to God for the way that he has spared

their lives.

And these shekels are given to God to

say this.

Every single one of us three times over

owes our life to God.

See what what we understand is that the

in that offering the half shekele

represented the head of every person. It

was given in place of the man. And

that's what's happening here is they are

offering to God who has won them this

great victory who has perfectly

preserved them alive through it. They

are offering to him their very lives.

And so I say to all of us today that

because Christ is our avenger, we owe

him our very lives. This is why the

Apostle Paul in Romans 12:1 said, "I

Romans 12:1

beseech you therefore, brethren, by the

mercies of God, because of all of the

wonderful truths of salvation that Paul

had built up from Romans 1 through 111,

he said, "Because of this great grace of

God and the wonderful salvation he has

wrought for us in Christ, I beseech you

therefore, brethren, by the mercies of

God that ye present your bodies a living

sacrifice."

We're to lay our lives on the altar of

surrender to the one who laid his life

on the altar of sacrifice for us. He's

worthy of it. Every single day you have,

I'm going to I'm going to lean into our

theme a little bit here. Every single

day you have is a precious commodity

that God has placed in your hands.

And this precious resource that God has

mercifully placed in our hands has not

been given to us to feast on the

appetites of our flesh or to store up

treasures on earth where moths and rust

corrupts and where thieves break through

and steal or to to or or to give uh to

the enjoyment of the pleasures of sin

for just a season. know this day has

been placed in your hands by your

redeemer to be managed to magnify the

glory of Christ that we might hear well

done good and faithful servant he's

given you this very day by the

redemptive blood of Jesus Christ and he

has given you the promise to avenge us

just a as God was worthy of the lives in

these soldiers Christ is worthy of our

lives today. He's worthy of it. He's

worthy that we would place our lives in

his hands to be used however he sees fit

because he is the one who will avenge

us. And at the same time, he is the one

who will perfectly preserve us through

death to enjoy the eternal inheritance

that he has promised us. We owe him our

very lives.

And so because Christ will avenge us,

he's worthy of our obedience. He's

worthy of his portion and he's worthy of

our lives. So I just ask you tonight, is

Christ receiving from you the obedience

that he deserves?

Is he?

Would you characterize every thought,

every action, and every decision as

being conformed to the obedience of

Christ?

Might I ask, is he receiving the small

portion that he requires, the small

portion that he is worthy of in your

life? It may be that in your Christian

life, you started well on tithing, but

eventually it tailed off in your life.

Or perhaps you committed to give that

extra portion of missions last year and

you started well for six months, but

maybe you came on some hard times and

and and you haven't caught up yet. Or

maybe you haven't given yet the portion

that you promised to him.

It could be that

that you've just not yet recommitted to

giving God what he's worthy of.

The Lord is still worthy of his portion.

And I want to say to you that he's still

perfectly capable of supplying all of

your needs according to his riches in

glory. So you know why God only required

1.1% of Israel? He didn't need it.

Bible says he owns the cattle on a

thousand hills. He made it all by the

word of his mouth. He owns it all.

Everything belongs to him. And he has

riches untold in heaven that none of us

could even speak of at this point in our

finite human minds. God is wealthier. He

than anything that we could ever know or

experience. He doesn't need our

offerings.

But he knows our hearts need to be

oriented to him.

Is that portion slipped in your life?

He's worthy of it. And might I ask, is

Christ receiving the total commitment

and surrender of your life that he is

worthy of?

Does your job have first claim on your

Sundays?

Is your life and your schedule fully

devoted to Christ or the pursuit of the

next paycheck, the next bonus, or the

next promotion?

As we can clearly see in this text, God

is still generous to his people.

He delights not only in avenging them,

but also in blessing them. God delights

in caring for your needs. He delights in

hearing the cries of dependence from

your heart that you need something from

him that you can't come up with on your

own. And he delights in meeting that

need as a father delights in meeting the

needs of his children.

That's how good he is.

Because of what Christ has done and will

do for us, he is worthy that we would

put our life back in the hands of the

one who gave his life for us.

Exceedingly more than those dittle

raiders were worthy of the honors they

received. Christ is worthy of the honor

of your full and complete obedience.

He's worthy of whatever portion he may

require. He is worthy of our very lives.

Why?

Because one day your enemy will fall.

One day Christ is going to return and

every temptation will cease. Every tear

will be wiped away. And Christ will

stand triumphantly over all your

enemies.

He will come. He will avenge.

And for that reason, we ought to give

him everything that we have.

And because Christ laid down his life

for your redemption, I want to say he's

worthy of your faith.

He's worthy that you would trust wholly

and completely in him for eternal

salvation.

If you're not a Christian, I would

invite you tonight to believe the

gospel, to be cleansed and forgiven in

Christ. And you can receive the promise

of eternal inheritance in Christ's

eternal kingdom. And Christ can become

your savior and your avenger tonight if

you will trust in him. Our avenger is

worthy. He's worthy. Lord, we want to

give you

the praise, the glory, and the worship

of which you are far exceedingly

worthy than we can describe.

I trust that one day when Christ returns

and our faith becomes sight,

oh Lord, we will know it then.

But right now, we look forward in faith,

trusting that this evil world will be

dealt with once and for all.

And I pray that by the enabling grace of

your spirit,

we would live obediently.

That we would give you a portion of what

you give to us.

And I pray that we'd lay our lives all

on the altar of surrender.

Thank you for paying sin's price. Thank

you for forgiving us. And I pray that we

would return to you the honor of which

you're worthy. In Jesus name I pray.
