Genesis chapter number four

and uh couldn't get this text off my

heart this afternoon and just praying

about the service tonight and I just

want to be obedient to the Lord and u

you know I've tried to remind myself of

something about this scripture and uh

you know the Lord we a lot of times we

think well God's got me preaching this

somebody that needs it. Well, truth is

about it, we all need.

>> And uh I think sometimes we put

ourselves in a box of thinking there's

somebody that's guilty. I'll say this,

most of the time these messages are just

preventative maintenance. Amen. And

that's what I want. And I'll tell you, I

want to change the oil in the car before

the rods go to knock. Can somebody say

amen? And I want to keep that thing

clean and right and stay right with the

Lord, right with each other. Amen. And I

was praying this afternoon. I believe

the Lord led me back here. I want to

look verse number 16 where we'll begin

reading in Genesis chapter 4 tonight and

Genesis 4 · chapter mention

I'll try to be mindful of the time this

evening. Genesis chapter 4 verse 16. The

Genesis 4:16

Bible says and Cain went out from the

presence of the Lord and dwelt in the

land of Nod on the east of Eden. And

Cain knew his wife and she conceived and

bare Enoch. And he builded a city and

called the name of the city after the

name of his son Enoch. And unto Enoch

was born Irad. And I read begget Meujel,

and Mahuja begat Methusel, and Methusel

begget Lamech. And Lamech took unto him

two wives. The name of the one was Adah,

and the name of the other Zilla. And

Adah bear Jabel, that he was the father

of such as dwell in tents, and of such

as have cattle. And his brother's name

was Jubel. He was the father of all such

as handle the heart and organ. and

Zilla. She also bare Tubalcain, an

instructor of every artifisicer and

brass and iron. And the sister of

Tubalcane was Nyan. And Lamech said unto

his wives, Adah and Zilla, hear my

voice, ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto

my speech. For I've slain a young man,

slain a man to my wounding, and a young

man to my hurt. If Cain shall be avenged

sevenfold, truly Lamech, 70 and

sevenfold. Now, Father, I ask tonight as

we come to this scripture, I pray, God,

that you would help us as we consider it

tonight. I pray that we would take and

apply it to our hearts and lives. I

pray, God, tonight that you would move

and work in our midst. I thank you for

the singing tonight. I'm thankful that

you're able tonight to do exceedingly

abundantly above all that we could ask

or think, Lord, according to the power

that workketh in us. And Lord, you told

us in your word, Lord, that you're going

to perform the work. You're going to

finish the work in our hearts until the

day that you come again. And so Lord, I

pray that you would work on us some more

tonight. God, I pray that you deal with

our hearts and Lord, help us to draw

near to you. I pray as a result of this

service, God, I pray, Lord, for whatever

needs are present. I pray the will of

God would be met in every every life and

every heart. And I pray more than

anything, God, tonight that you would

get glory and save the lost, reclaim the

backslid, and Lord, for all that you do.

We'll give you thanks, but most of all,

for who you are. And we ask all this in

Jesus name. And God's children said,

"Thank you for standing. You can be

seated tonight." This morning, we

considered the way of Cain. And tonight,

as I was reading this text, and the Lord

laid this text on my heart, I want to

consider another truth here that I want

to lay upon your heart in just a moment

in this text. But to get you back up to

speed on where we're at here in this

text, Cain has been cursed by the Lord.

He has been told uh in verse number 11

and 12 that he is cursed from the earth.

He is going to not be able to bear fruit

in his harvest. There's not going to be

a place where he can lay his head. He's

going to have no home. And there is

going to be no holiness in his life

because he decides to walk away from the

presence of the Lord. And I want to say

this to us tonight. Of course,

considering this dispensation tonight, I

personally believe that Cain walked away

from this a lost man because there was

no repentance in his life. Cain walked

away from this and he turned and when he

walked away I believe he doomed and

damned his soul to hell. You say,

"Preacher, how could that be being that

Cain spoke to the Lord face to face?"

Well, you understand something here in

this text. Cain, this is the only way

that God is dealing with man at this

point in time. You see, Cain does not

have the Ten Commandments. He does not

have the law of Moses to go by. But this

is that dispensation of conscience. that

dispensation here that God is dealing

directly with them. And I was thinking

about this in this text. You see, when

Cain in verse number 16, when he went

out from the presence of the Lord, Cain

did not go alone. And you say,

"Preacher, what do you mean?" Well, Cain

took some things from his parents in

this text. When he left here in this

text, he took some things from his

parents. He took some things from the

Lord. And you say, "What do you mean,

preacher?" Well, I'd say this. We know

by the text we preached this morning

number one that he took a son from his

parents because in our text the Bible

says in verse number eight that while

they were in the field Cain rose up

against Abel his brother and slew him

and so Adam and Eve their child they're

the second born Abel was taken from them

but I thought not only about this he

takes a son from them his brother but he

also takes himself from them because

Cain in verse number 16 walks out of the

presence of God. Adam and Eve never

leave this place. They always stay here

and they live out their days in this

place because this is the place where

God birthe Seth there. And God raised

Seth up to bring that godly lineage that

would live on to the days of Noah. And

I'll say more about that in a minute.

But God here in this text is allowing

Cain to leave his parents. And so, not

only are they losing Abel, but they're

also losing Cain. You say, "Preacher,

what's the significance of that?" Well,

what would it be to lose a son and then

lose the other? You think about David

tonight. David when Amnan, he committed

that incest with his sister Tamar. The

Bible says that Abselum hummed him down

and killed him. And then after that,

Abselum became lifted up in pride and he

ended up losing Abselum as well. And

before it was all said and done, David

lost four sons, four of his children.

And you say, preacher, well, that's all

that Adam and Eve lost in this text.

Well, if you consider it closely, I

don't believe this is all that they

lost. Cuz the Bible says in verse 16,

"And Cain went out from the presence of

the Lord and dwelt in the land of Nod on

the east of Eden." And notice the first

phrase of verse 17. "And Cain knew his

wife." You see, not only did Adam and

Eve lose their two sons, but they also

lost a daughter.

>> You say, "Preacher, what do you mean?"

I'm saying Cain's wife was the daughter

of Adam and Eve. And when Cain left the

presence of God, you know what happened?

They lost their daughter, too. And so in

this text, you say, "Preacher, that's

hard for me to understand." Well, you

just got to understand the text. Adam

and Eve were the only parents here at

this point in time. And all children

that were be were to be born were their

children. You say, "Preacher, that's

awful." Well, you got to understand

something. This economy is a lot

different than ours. Amen.

>> I ain't got time to deal with all that

tonight. But the truth is, Adam and Eve,

Eve lost three children in just a very

short span of time. And Cain is the

reason that they lost all three of them.

I'll say this, your sin will bring much

hurt to your parents.

>> Amen. And I see this in this text. I

noticed that Cain is leaving. And what

do we what is his leaving highlighted

by? Well, it's highlighted by the fact

number one that there's no fellowship.

Look what the Bible said in verse 16.

And Cain went out from the presence of

the Lord. There was no fellowship with

the father. There was no fellowship with

his family. And he did not have anywhere

else to turn to. And so he takes his

family. He packs it up and leaves them,

leaves the will of God, leaves the work

of God, leaves the family, leaves it all

behind because he's decided that he's

going to do what he wants to do. You

say, "Preacher, well, I thought God

banished him." Well, you understand

something. Because of this curse that

was placed upon him, he had no desire to

repent. And I think that many times when

somebody goes so far in their sin, when

they have decided after living a sinful,

wicked life, God turns them over to that

reprobate mind, and you know what

happens to them? Number one, they don't

want to be saved. Amen. Number two, they

have no desire to have fellowship with

anybody who is saved. Amen. And they're

going to live out the rest of their days

in boldface, anger, and bitterness

towards God and his people. And here in

this text, Cain leaves his family that

very same way. There is no fellowship.

And if you were just reading this, you

would think that everything gets all

right after Cain leaves. But what you're

going to find is tonight, and I want to

preach on this thought, the way of Cain

turns into something much more than just

the way. You see, up to this point, Cain

has only got his able. He's taken his

life. And then Adam and Eve are

affected. And somehow or another, his

wife comes into the picture. The

scripture does not tell us. But I'll say

this. Cain leaves them behind and begins

a new life. And I want to highlight a

few things tonight. We considered the

way of Cain, but I want to consider this

thought tonight. I want to consider the

world of Cain. Cain creates an alternate

environment in verse number 17 down

through the end of this chapter. And

what you're going to find is described

here in this text. The world that Cain

creates. Now, I'll be real honest with

you. This morning I was listening to

somebody preach this afternoon and I

think it may have been brother Gravely

on his podcast and he was talking about

sin. And the Bible says that there are

pleasures in sin for a season. And the

truth is tonight you can leave and get

out of the will of God if you're lost.

You can leave and reject God's word. And

you can go on and live your life. And

the truth is I do not know how long the

season of pleasure is going to be for

you.

>> You might live the rest of your life and

be perfectly fine. You might live to be

a ripe old age and and your sin, you

just go on and enjoy it and then you'll

suffer throughout eternity for those

sinful choices. But the truth is most

people don't live that way. The truth is

when most people decide to walk away

from God, what happens to them is is

that they live a I mean just a few years

sometimes, sometimes it's just a few

months, a few days. Some people it's

minutes,

>> right?

>> Amen. Some people the moment that they

turn away, their life is taken from them

in that moment because God says, "If

you're not going to turn to me, I'm not

I've not got no use for you anymore."

>> And so God takes them out of the way.

And and you say, "Preacher, what about

those that God leads?" Well, God's

longsuffering. Amen. That's all I know

to tell you tonight. And he's merciful.

Amen. He sendeth the rain upon the just

and the unjust. Amen. And if you want if

you want an answer to that tonight, you

have to take it up with God. But I will

tell you this. Sin always its pleasure.

Listen to me, young people. Sin's

pleasure always comes to an end.

>> Always. And in this text, I want to

notice a few things here and I'll be

done tonight. I want to consider first

of all in this world of Cain, not the

new family that's mentioned. The Bible

says in verse 17, "And Cain knew his

wife and she conceived and bare Enoch

and he built a city and called the name

of the city after the name of his son

Enoch." And so Cain here, he has taken a

wife. And out of this wife, there

becomes a birth. There is a son that's

born. And and so out of this son being

born, Cain desires to build a city. And

so Cain, it seems as if everything that

God has said, it seems like he's just

going to go on and do what he wants to

do. And and it's and in spite of the

fact that God told him and in verse

number 12 that he would be a fugitive in

a vagabond, Cain almost like to spit in

the face of God says, "Well, I'm not

going to do that here. I'm going to

drive my steak down somewhere and show

God that I can have it my way. And you

know what happens? Just because you

build a city doesn't mean that you're

not going to be a fugitive.

>> You're right.

>> Amen. You can build an empire in this

life, but what you'll find is that

you're always on the run.

>> And Cain in this text is the very same

way. He gets him a wife. He has a child.

He builds a city. Of course, we know

this is not skyscrapers and hospitals

and hotels and and restaurants and bars

like what we would think about in this

day and time, but it would just simply

be a congregating of people in the same

place where they would grow together.

And so, Cain is trying to surround

himself. Have you ever noticed that when

sinners get in sin, what do they try to

do? They immediately try to surround

themselves with everybody that they can.

>> Right?

sinners multiply and by the mar when you

think about the margin sinners they they

uh procreate and children are born unto

them seems like far greater than the

margins of those who are saved you say

preacher I don't believe that well you

just look at the Muslim crowd

>> right

>> I don't have to stay very long right

there for you to think about the fact

that when they have 8 n 10 children a

peace and they're all like that hey

there's no there's no re no understand

or there's no wonder that our world is

being overrun by that mindset.

>> Amen.

>> It's because evil populates. And so Cain

has built THIS LITTLE CITY TO hide and

to harbor himself there and to spit in

the face of God. And so I notice this

new family. And and sure, it looks okay.

Cain looks like he's his wife. They have

a child. Everything seems all right. And

and then you see there the genealogy

that's given in verse 18. There's

there's seven generations here from Adam

that's mentioned up until Lamech in

verse number 19. And what's interesting

about this fact is though this family is

new, what's happening is they are

bringing in new wickedness with them. Do

you realize almost every sin originated

in this family outside of what Adam and

Eve committed

>> right

>> in the garden? I want to share something

with you. We note the new family in

verse number 17 and 18. But note the new

folly in verse 19. The Bible says, "And

lamech, notice this, took unto him two

wives." The new folly, what is that?

Well, pretty simply stated this morning,

it's polygamy.

>> Lamech, this son, and I I could preach

through those names, but we ain't got

time to go through that tonight. But

Lamech, his son, the seventh from Adam

here, the six from Cain in our text, he

is the one in this text. He is the first

one in history to have two wives. Now,

why is that? Well, you think about this.

Cain has made this city. He has made an

oasis for the mind. And you know what

the Bible says that an or not the Bible

says this, but a good principle says

idol mind is the devil's workshop. And

so what Cain has done is he has made

this this melting pot. He has made this

place for wickedness just to fester. And

so every idea, every thought, every

intent of man's heart could be searched

out. And you know, sin is like water

under a door. Your lust is like water

under the door. the more you open it,

the more is going to come through. And

so they just continually follow down in

wickedness. And those names, you can

study those names out, and you'll find

that there's a continual digression

through those names up until Lamech. And

Lamech's name means this. It means

powerful. It means powerful. And out of

Lamech, his lineage here, there are

three sons that are mentioned. And I'm I

want I got to point this out before I go

any further. This new folly in verse

number 19, number one is seen in

selfishness. Look what the Bible says.

And Lamech took what? Unto him.

Lamech was feeding his flesh.

>> Lamech took unto him two wives. Two

wives. Now, what do these two wives

represent? Well, this new folly is

polygamy. But there's selfish

selfishness here. It's it's his. He's

took unto him two wives. And then you'll

note these names. The name of the one

was Ada, and the name of the other was

Zilla. Now, that name Ada means

ornament. That name Zilla means shade.

And when you look up those names,

consider them in their translation. When

you consider Ada, it means something

beautiful to look upon. That ornament,

her name spoke of her beauty. That she

was something that he was desirous to

see. She was something to behold. Really

what that translates to be. And so Ada,

he takes his first wife, Ada, and then

there's the other that's Zilla. And

that's not the sight to behold. But here

is the seduction. That word Zilla means

shade. It means a seductress.

And so this man Lamech's engulfed in

pleasure.

He's got one that looks like he wants

and he's got another one that does what

he wants.

And you see this is what Cain

has produced in his family. You say,

"Preacher, well Cain didn't have two

wives. Cain didn't live that way." Well,

what did he choose over God's sacrifice?

He chose that field. He chose that

fruit. He chose what looked pretty to

the eyes because he said, "This is the

work of my hands, and I'm going to

choose that over God." Cain chose the

works. But let me tell you, seven, six

generations later, lay chose his wives

over God. You say, "Preacher, what does

that lead into?" Well, notice this. This

new folly here, we consider not only the

new folly, but not the new fathers

that's mentioned in verse 20 down

through 22. You've got three men that's

pointed out here in the text. and ate a

bear Jabel. The Bible says he was the

father of such as dwell in tents and of

such as have cattle. There is the

marketing here, the shepherd that's

present. That cattle there speaks of all

manner of animals. And so Jabel here is

the one that is the father. He is the be

he is the one that is beginning the

marketing works of selling animals. He

is the orchestrator of all marketing

business in this city of Enoch. And so

there's not only the marketing man in

verse number 20, but in verse 21 there's

the music man. And his brother's name

was Jubel. He was the father of all such

as handle the harp and organ. So we've

got a shepherd. But now we've got a song

man. We've got somebody who's who's not

only in business, but we've got somebody

who's making music and singing. And then

we got in verse 22, if you'll stay with

me, I'm going somewhere with this. All

right. Notice 22. and Zilla, she also

bare Tubalcane, an instructor of every

artifice in brass and iron. And the

sister of Tubalcane was non. So there is

the marketing agent in Jabel. And Jubel

is the music man. And then in 22,

Tubcane, he is in metallurgy. He is the

smith. You say, "Preacher, what is all

that?" Well, do you realize what this

is?

What has America been built on?

You see, out of the perversion of lame,

having two wives, what was produced?

Prosperity. [clears throat]

>> The father, listen to me now, the father

of modern marketing and animal sales was

born unto Lamech. The father of those

that would produce music and instruments

of music AND TRAIN THOSE HOW to use them

was Jubel. And then in the text, tubcane

is the one that is in control of the

iron works, of the brass works, and

those that would be in charge of an

artifice work. You say, "Preacher,

what's the emphasis of that?" I'M SAYING

THIS IS WHAT an economy of wickedness is

built off of.

>> Right?

>> You say, "Preacher, those are Lame's

children." Let me ask you something. You

remember those are Cain's children, too.

>> You see what this produced? Cain's

mindset, what did it produce? It

produced an entire generation. It

produced an entire nation of people that

were geared toward prosperity.

And this is what it led to. It led to

their defilement. And isn't it

interesting, and I've preached all of

this to get to this point, and there's

so much more I could say about this, but

but you see these new fathers here,

these are the top ones in this city of

Cain. What's interesting about this in

verse number 23, the Bible says, "And

Lamech said unto his wives, Ada and

Zilla, hear my voice, ye wives of

Lamech, hearken under my speech, for

I've slain a man to my wounding and a

young man to my hurt." Now, to make the

long story short, now six generations

later, his great great great great,

however many greats it is, grandson, you

know what happens? He commits the same

sin as Cain.

>> Right?

>> You say, "Preacher, what's interesting?

What what is it that's so fascinating

about that? Well, Cain thought that his

way was best,

>> right?

>> So, you know what he does? He goes out

on his own and he builds his city. He's

got his family. He's got his city named

after his child. He's got all of this

that he's created. And you know what? It

looks all right. But isn't it

interesting how sin's a revolving door,

>> right?

>> And on down the line, you say,

"Preacher, well, Cain never saw it." No,

actually, he did. If you look at this

text correctly, these men in the Old

Testament, they lived to be 8, 900 years

old,

>> right?

>> I don't know how old Cain lived to be,

but I believe he got to saw that he got

to see Lamech and his children. You say,

"Preacher, what's the emphasis of that?"

I said all that to say this. See, when

when Cain left in verse 16, there was no

fellowship with God. He walked out of

the presence of God. But six generations

later, you what you're going to find is

is that there's no fear. You say, "What

do you mean?" Well, notice verse 23 and

24 and I'll be done tonight. And Lamech

said unto his wives, consider his maids

here, Adidenzilla. Hear my voice, ye

wise of lay, hearken unto my speech.

Think of the forcefulness of this man

speaking. Number one, it's very

disrespectful that he would speak unto

his wives this way. But I think that he

spoke to them this way because he was

trying to prove out his pride. You see,

Cain spoke to his brother that way in

verse number eight. Amen. And Cain

talked with Abel, his brother. And

there's not a doubt in my mind that when

Cain looked at his brother there in that

field, he said, "Look, I'm getting my

position back. I don't care if it cost

me, you or anything else." And his pride

is what caused him to have that

conversation. What do you find here in

the text? This same this man, this

grandson of Cain is doing the same

thing. He is speaking to his maids, his

wives. What is he speaking to him of?

Well, he's speaking of this murder. Look

what the Bible says. For I've slain a

man to my wounded and a young man to my

hurt. He is literally telling them in

this text he says I've killed a man. And

most writers believe that in this text

ca this son of lame here this son has

killed one of an Adam and Eve's good

children. Now I can't verify that. All

right I don't know how they come up with

that but they said that he is this

notice that text. He said I've slain a

man to my wounding. He says this has

hindered me. This has harmed me. What

did Cain say? He said, "My punishment is

greater than I can bear."

>> Right?

>> He didn't like the consequences. Lamech

saying the same thing. He don't like the

consequences of his sin. And notice what

he says in verse 24.

This is what the whole text hinges on.

If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold,

truly lame 70 and sevenfold. Now, you've

seen his maid. You see his murder in

this text. But consider his mindset. You

say, "What is his mindset, preacher?"

Well, you remember the Bible says in

verse 13, Cain told the Lord, "My

punishment is greater than I can bear."

He tells the Lord, he says, "I'm going

to be a fusion in Veabon." He said,

"Everybody that findeth me is going to

slay me." And notice verse 15. "And the

Lord said unto him, therefore, whosoever

slayth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on

him sevenfold." He was he put a mark on

Cain, a mark of judgment that would say,

"Whoever took Cain's life." All right,

I'm going to make a point with this,

okay? In just a minute. Whoever took

Cain's life would be avenged sevenfold.

They would suffer the consequences seven

times as much. You say, "Preacher, why

is that?" Because Cain was meant to live

out his life as a fugitive in a Vega

bond.

>> And anybody that took his life would be

shortened in his judgment. You say,

"Preacher, what do you mean by that?"

Well, you think about the people that

are in hell right now.

What are they there for? Eternity.

>> The reason why the judgment does not end

is because their judgment is forever. is

perpetual.

>> And God had a set time of judgment for

Cain.

>> Amen. It wasn't eternal, but it was for

his lifetime.

>> And he said, "The one that takes Cain

out,

he's going to be judged sevenfold."

Well, what does Lamech say in verse

number 24? If Cain shall be avenged

sevenfold, truly Lamech 70 and

sevenfold. Lamech was so prideful about

his sin that he said, "If somebody kills

me, God's going to take out not

sevenfold,

but 490."

>> See, he in his mind thought that God, he

deserved protection because Cain got

protection. But you see, the sentence

wasn't the same. You're

>> right.

>> And I want to give you this and I'm done

tonight. Brother Randy, you cut that

thing off tonight. I want to share this

with you. All right? you.
