  8. from God.

  9. You'll go far and wide. You'll never

  10. find a person that can truly say that

  11. Jesus has ever failed him. Amen.

  12. >> Amen.

  13. >> I'm so thankful for the faithfulness,

  14. the mercy of our Lord and Savior Jesus

  15. Christ. Amen. Matthew's Gospel, if you

  16. have a Bible, Matthew's Gospel, chapter

  17. number one. When you find your place, if

  18. you would stand on and reference to the

  19. reading of God's word. Matthew's Gospel

  20. chapter number one

  21. chapter number one of Matthew's gospel

  22. and verse number one

  23. the Bible says this the book of the

  24. generation of Jesus Christ the son of

  25. David the son of Abraham him. Look with

  26. me if you would please down in verse

  27. number 18.

  28. Chapter 1 verse number 18. Now the birth

  29. of Jesus Christ was on this wise. When

  30. as his mother Mary was a spouse to

  31. Joseph before they came together, she

  32. was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

  33. Then Joseph her husband being a just man

  34. and not willing to make her a public

  35. example was minded to put her away

  36. privately. But while he thought on these

  37. things, behold, the angel of the Lord

  38. appeared unto him in a dream, saying

  39. Joseph, thou son of David. Fear not to

  40. take unto thee, Mary, thy wife, for that

  41. which is conceived in her is of the Holy

  42. Ghost. She shall bring forth a son, and

  43. thou shalt call his name Jesus, or he

  44. shall save his people from their sins.

  45. Now, Father, I come before you this

  46. morning. Thank you for the privilege to

  47. read your word today, God, for the

  48. opportunity that we have this blessed

  49. Bible in our hands. Lord, I hope that we

  50. do not take that for granted, Lord. I

  51. thank you for this good country where

  52. the freedoms that we have to gather and

  53. to worship your name. And Lord, I pray,

  54. Father, today that we would fall uh Lord

  55. would not fall short, God, of worshiping

  56. you. I pray that you would be exalted

  57. and glorified in this service. I pray

  58. that you would remove the flesh far from

  59. us. And Lord, I pray we leave this place

  60. seeing you high and lifted up. And God,

  61. I pray, Father, that you'd move in our

  62. midst. Clothe me in my calling. I pray

  63. fill me with the Holy Ghost. Give me

  64. liberty and vocabulary to preach this

  65. morning. And God, I pray, Father, you'll

  66. make us thankful, Lord, from this

  67. sermon, God, for the birth of our Lord

  68. and Savior Jesus Christ. And Lord, it's

  69. in his name we make our prayer this

  70. morning. Amen. You can be seated. Thank

  71. you for standing this morning.

  72. Matthew's Gospel chapter number one is a

  73. beginning of beginnings. When you

  74. consider this chapter, it marks the

  75. beginning of the New Testament, but also

  76. marks the beginning of the ministry of

  77. our Lord Jesus Christ. It really marks

  78. the beginning of his existence on this

  79. earth. Of course, we know that he has

  80. always existed in eternity past, but his

  81. presence on this earth is introduced to

  82. us literally in chapter number one and

  83. verse number one by this phrase, the

  84. book of the generation of Jesus Christ.

  85. When you consider that phrase this

  86. morning, it's the topic that I'll be

  87. preaching on, the generation of Jesus

  88. Christ, that literally means that word

  89. generation means nativity or the origin

  90. of. And so you notice here in chapter

  91. number one verses one down through verse

  92. number 17. You consider this man's

  93. family in chapter number one and verses

  94. one down through 17 as Jesus Christ

  95. would be incarnate God. But he also

  96. would be inspired man filled with the

  97. Holy Ghost from the time of his birth

  98. until the time of his death led into

  99. heaven after his resurrection. And this

  100. man here in our text is the man Christ

  101. Jesus. And this book, the book of

  102. Matthew, is the book of his origin, of

  103. his nativity. And I consider this not

  104. only the man's family, but I also

  105. consider the Messiah's father in verse

  106. number one, when the Bible says the book

  107. of the generation of Jesus Christ, the

  108. son of David. And we know the promised

  109. seed would be the seed that would come

  110. out of the loins of David, his father.

  111. And we know that God promised David in

  112. the book of 2 Samuel 7:es 12, 13 and 16.

  113. He promised that his seed would be given

  114. a throne and his throne would be from

  115. everlasting unto everlasting. He would

  116. never take away his dominion. He would

  117. never take away his rule and his reign.

  118. But his reign would be an eternal

  119. everlasting reign. And of course, we

  120. know that was not Solomon, though he

  121. reigned, but for just a while, we know

  122. that this man Jesus is the Messiah.

  123. Amen. And so his father David presents

  124. him as the Messiah. And I consider not

  125. only his family and his father, but I

  126. also consider the faith that's

  127. represented here in chapter 1 when the

  128. Bible says the book of the generation of

  129. Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son

  130. of Abraham. And we know that before

  131. David was, there was Abraham. And he was

  132. the one that God called out of the

  133. Caldes and said, "Get thee out of thy

  134. father's house, and out of thy father's

  135. kindred, and go unto a land that I will

  136. show thee, and there will I make of thee

  137. a great nation." Amen. And in Genesis

  138. chapter number 22 and verse number 18,

  139. God told Abraham that of thy seed all

  140. nations of the world would be blessed.

  141. And because Abraham was the father of

  142. the faith, the faith of Jesus Christ is

  143. now presented us in Matthew's Gospel

  144. chapter 1 and verse number one, the book

  145. of the generation of Jesus Christ. Amen.

  146. And I don't know about you, but I'm

  147. still thankful, hallelujah, in 2025 that

  148. this gospel is not dead. It's not died

  149. out or DRIED UP. THANK GOD. But it's

  150. still real and fresh as it's ever been.

  151. And the FAITH IS STILL REAL. AND OUR

  152. FATHER'S STILL REAL. AMEN. AND JESUS

  153. WILL STILL SAVE. AMEN.

  154. >> And when I consider this chapter, I have

  155. to consider the fact that it presents to

  156. us the origin of Christ in the flesh on

  157. this earth. And when I look at this

  158. chapter, I want to consider a few things

  159. here in our text this morning. And I

  160. notice in this text, I love the order of

  161. the scripture. And I'll tell you this,

  162. the more you study this Bible, the more

  163. you just have to believe that it's

  164. inspired and written by God's literal

  165. hand through the men, the hand of men

  166. through the years that were faithful to

  167. be led by the Holy Ghost of God to pin

  168. it. And and he says, Matthew records

  169. here in verse number 18, after the

  170. genealogy is given, he gives us now the

  171. grace of his birth. In verse number 18,

  172. now the birth of Jesus Christ was on

  173. this wise or in this manner. And Matthew

  174. records his birth, records the history

  175. of it, records the holiness of it,

  176. records the heart of it that it is about

  177. this man Jesus Christ. And notice in

  178. this text four things by way of

  179. introduction. And I'll give you the

  180. sermon this morning. I consider first of

  181. all in verse number 18 that there has

  182. been a promise made. In verse number 18,

  183. the Bible says when as his mother Mary

  184. was a spouse to Joseph. And so in this

  185. day and time, the espousal would be agre

  186. an agreement between two families

  187. because marriage was not not to be

  188. entered into lightly. Amen. And so the

  189. fathers of these families of this

  190. daughter and of this son would decide

  191. that they would not know for themselves

  192. who the spouse that they would need

  193. should be. And so there was an agreement

  194. made between these two families. And

  195. this promise is given that this woman

  196. would be given to this man. And in this

  197. period of espousal this year and

  198. waiting, they are pretty much married

  199. already being together. But they have

  200. not consummated the marriage. You see

  201. that nextly, not only the promise that's

  202. been made, but note the purity that's

  203. mentioned in verse number 18. When as

  204. his mother Mary was a spouse to Joseph,

  205. notice those four words, before they

  206. came together. Now I want to submit to

  207. you this morning those little four four

  208. little words might seem insignificant

  209. but you realize those four little words

  210. is what our salvation hangs upon. And

  211. you say preacher how is that? Well if

  212. Jesus was not virgin born he did not

  213. vicariously die for you and I but he

  214. died as a man in his own sin because of

  215. his own chain. You say preacher what are

  216. you saying? I'm saying Jesus did not

  217. have an earthly father, but God

  218. overshadowed the womb of Mary. And

  219. before they came together, there's a

  220. promise that's been made. Oh, but this

  221. marriage was pure. God had blessed them.

  222. And they were waiting for marriage until

  223. they would consummate that thing. And

  224. God had a plan for this home. Amen. God

  225. was going to bless them. Let me say this

  226. just on the precipice this morning. This

  227. is not just a time picture. Amen. But

  228. this is truth. Amen. That's a given to

  229. you and I this morning. This is the way

  230. it ought to be. Somebody say amen this

  231. morning. Hey, you ought to wait till you

  232. get married. You moms and daddies say

  233. amen this morning. Amen. What I'm saying

  234. is God bless this home because they were

  235. faithful to follow the commands of God

  236. Almighty. Amen. And so I consider not

  237. only the promise made and the purity

  238. that's mentioned, but note the pregnancy

  239. that's manifested in verse number 18.

  240. When as his mother Mary was a spouse to

  241. Joseph, before they came together,

  242. notice this, she was found with child.

  243. She was found with child. And you say,

  244. "Preacher, how significant is that?"

  245. Well, you understand, and I'm going to

  246. say more about this just a little bit

  247. later, but in this culture and under

  248. Judaism, Mary could have died because of

  249. this.

  250. >> She could have been stoned to death. She

  251. could have been taken without the camp

  252. and stoned to death. But boy, I'm

  253. thankful God had already had a plan long

  254. before anything could ever be said. And

  255. let me say this to you this morning.

  256. God's plans always work out. Amen. Hey,

  257. you can go your own way and do your own

  258. thing for all of your life. But if you

  259. won't do God's will, God will find

  260. somebody else that will. Amen. And step

  261. up and TAKE YOUR PLACE. AMEN. WHAT I'M

  262. SAYING IS God blessed this marriage and

  263. allowed her, this pure, HOLY GIRL, TO

  264. BEAR THE SON OF GOD, the lamb of God

  265. that would take away the sins of the

  266. world because here she was pure with her

  267. husband Joseph. And so I note not only

  268. the pregnancy that's manifested here,

  269. but I note this and I love this. This

  270. order is so beautiful. Look what he says

  271. lastly in verse number 18. She was found

  272. with child what? Of the Holy Ghost.

  273. Let me say this to you this morning.

  274. >> Where there's a promise that's being

  275. made and purity that's being kept. Amen.

  276. When there's pregnancy in that order,

  277. when God sets it all apart, you know

  278. what? The Holy Ghost is in that thing.

  279. >> Amen.

  280. >> You say, "What are you saying? There is

  281. no greater picture of Christ in the

  282. church than of a marriage between a man

  283. and a woman. When both souls have kept

  284. themselves pure until marriage and then

  285. out of that union there comes the birth

  286. of a child. That's right.

  287. >> You know what the Holy Ghost is in that.

  288. >> Amen. Long before there was the church,

  289. there was the family. Long before there

  290. was the institution that we call the

  291. body of Christ, there was the home. In

  292. the beginning, God made man. And what

  293. did he say? It wasn't good that man

  294. should be alone. But you know what he

  295. did? He made a helpmate for him. And

  296. what did they call her? They called her

  297. woman. Amen. and woman came to man to

  298. protect him and to aid him in his

  299. services of this life. You say,

  300. "Preacher, what are you saying about all

  301. this?" I'm saying this home was right.

  302. >> Amen.

  303. >> Let me say this to you this morning. We

  304. ain't homes that are right in this day

  305. and time.

  306. >> Amen. You say, "Preacher, ain't none of

  307. us going to raise Jesus." No, but you're

  308. raising his children.

  309. >> Amen. That's exactly right. This

  310. morning, I want to give you these three

  311. truths this morning concerning this

  312. text. the generation of Jesus Christ.

  313. What's first mentioned here in the text

  314. is the man. You say, "Well, who's the

  315. man?" Notice verse 19. Then Joseph her

  316. husband. Look what your Bible says.

  317. Being a just man and not willing to make

  318. her a public example was minded to put

  319. her away privy. And I love Joseph. I

  320. think this is why I'll be honest with

  321. you. I love Matthew's account of the

  322. birth of Christ. Probably it's probably

  323. my favorite. I love Joseph. preached a

  324. message on it here last year at the

  325. church and I really want to preach it

  326. again this morning. But I know some of

  327. y'all that take notes, y'all say,

  328. "Preacher, he preached that last year."

  329. And so I just going to get me something

  330. different. Amen. But what I noticed in

  331. this text about Joseph and Joseph was a

  332. godly man. Joseph was a man full of

  333. grace and wisdom. And the Bible

  334. literally describes him as a just man.

  335. That description speaks of his holiness.

  336. That Joseph was a righteous man. He was

  337. an upright man. Joseph. If you study

  338. history, you'll find that Joseph was in

  339. the reign of the kings. And you say,

  340. "How is that?" Well, you can look even

  341. in this own chapter and discover in

  342. verse number 16, the Bible says, "And

  343. Jacob beget Joseph, the husband of Mary,

  344. of whom was born Jesus, who is called

  345. Christ." And so, Joseph was the one that

  346. brought that kingly lineage all the way

  347. down into the family. Of course, Mary

  348. was a part of that family as well. But

  349. what I'm saying here this morning is

  350. this right here. Joseph was royal, but

  351. his royalty did not take away from his

  352. righteousness.

  353. >> And when I consider this text, what's

  354. interesting about Joseph? Joseph had

  355. rights to a throne by his family. But

  356. because the persecution, the sin of

  357. generations before him, they are under

  358. Roman rule. We note chapter number one.

  359. The Bible says in verse chapter number

  360. two and verse number one. Now when Jesus

  361. was born in Bethlehem of Judea, notice

  362. this. In the days of Herod the king,

  363. Herod was the one that was overruling

  364. the whole thing. Caesar and all those

  365. men, they were trying to take out Jesus.

  366. Why is that? They had reign over the

  367. Jews. Joseph was an heir in the family

  368. of the Jews. But you know what the truth

  369. is? BECAUSE OF SIN, he was not reigning.

  370. He was not a king. Oh, but he didn't

  371. know that he was going to get to be the

  372. one that got to raise the earthly king.

  373. Amen. The heavenly king of the Jews.

  374. Amen. Joseph didn't worry about his lot.

  375. But you know what he did? HE JUST STAYED

  376. FAITHFUL TO GOD. AND I THINK IT'S

  377. interesting that the first thing said

  378. about him is that he was a just man. He

  379. was holy. But I notice not only his

  380. holiness, but I see his heart. In verse

  381. 19,

  382. we get a picture of this man, Joseph,

  383. being a just man. Notice this. not

  384. willing to make her a public example.

  385. You see, Joseph loved Mary. You see that

  386. later on in the text. Joseph was

  387. faithful to Mary all the days of his

  388. life. Loved her and was faithful to her.

  389. But you see in this point in time, at

  390. the beginning here, things looked a

  391. little bit rocky. Things looked like

  392. they just wasn't going to go work out

  393. just exactly like he thought they was.

  394. You see that promise that had been made,

  395. that purity that had been kept, it

  396. seemed at this moment in time that that

  397. purity and that promise had been

  398. overruled. It seemed that maybe she had

  399. stepped outside or maybe someone had

  400. forced her. He didn't know the whole

  401. story, but he knew this. He knew she was

  402. pregnant, but he also knew that he loved

  403. her. And the Bible says that he wasn't

  404. willing to make her a public example. He

  405. was not willing to defame Miss Mary. Why

  406. was that? because he loved her. You know

  407. what the Bible says? For he said that

  408. grace, it'll it'll hide a multitude of

  409. sins. Amen. We know Mary's not guilty in

  410. this text, but Joseph's heart was toward

  411. her. You know what he wasn't going to

  412. do? He wasn't going to go take her out

  413. in the street. Amen. Telling to stone

  414. her. Amen. Cuz he loved her. Notice

  415. this. Not only his holiness in his

  416. heart, but I think this is the greatest

  417. aspect of Joseph I see in this text. I

  418. see his whole. You say, "What do you

  419. mean his whole?" Well, notice what the

  420. text verse 19. The Bible says, "And he

  421. was not willing to make her a public

  422. example, but was minded to put her away,

  423. put her away privately." Notice the

  424. first phrase of verse 20. But while he

  425. thought on these things, while he

  426. thought on these things, you see, Joseph

  427. had a grip on his life. You know, I'm

  428. seeing in this day and time, people that

  429. are so uncontrolled,

  430. they don't have a grip on anything's

  431. going on their life. You say, "What's

  432. the emphasis of this, preacher?" Well,

  433. first of all, I would say this. He had a

  434. grip on truth. He had a hold on truth.

  435. What is that? Well, look at the text.

  436. Verse 19. He was minded to put her away

  437. privately. You know what the law said?

  438. The law said because of this, he had to

  439. put her away because she's impure. You

  440. say, "How is that, preacher?" Well,

  441. notice the book of Deuteronomy,

  442. chapter number 22.

  443. Deuteronomy 22.

  444. These verses teach us

  445. the truth concerning the law of

  446. marriage. Notice Deuteronomy 22

  447. verse number 23. Deuteronomy 22:23.

    Deuteronomy 22:23

  448. If a dangel that is a virgin be

  449. betrolled unto an husband and a man find

  450. her in the city and lie with her, then

  451. you shall bring them both out into the

  452. gate of that city. He shall stone them

  453. with stones that they die. The damsel

  454. because she cried not being in the city.

  455. And this man but the man because he hath

  456. humbled his neighbor's wife. So shall

  457. those so thou shalt put away evil from

  458. among you. And you notice this whole

  459. chapter deals with this thought of this

  460. sin of adultery and this sin of

  461. fornication. And Joseph, you know what

  462. his heart was? His heart was toward

  463. Mary. But you know who had his heart

  464. primarily? God did.

  465. Amen. God is the one that had control of

  466. his heart primarily. And so, you know

  467. what? Rather than stoning her because

  468. having her stoned because he loved her,

  469. what does the Bible said? He he was

  470. minded to put her away privately. That

  471. was that means that because of this, she

  472. had breached the covenant, the promise

  473. that had been made. And so, their

  474. spouse, they're not married yet. This

  475. espousal period, all of that was was

  476. normal for them. If there was something

  477. that happened, she was found to be with

  478. child, found unfaithful, she could be

  479. put away. And so his righteousness

  480. overruled

  481. his love for Mary. Let me say this to

  482. you young people. Listen to me this

  483. morning. When it comes to your life, you

  484. only get one chance at this thing.

  485. >> Amen. [snorts] I don't care what the

  486. world tells you. One marriage is between

  487. one man and one woman. Amen. God will

  488. give grace to everybody that's outside

  489. of that. But let me tell you, you only

  490. get one shot to do it the first time.

  491. Amen. And anytime after that, it's sin.

  492. >> Amen.

  493. >> What I'm trying to say to you this

  494. morning is this. Joseph loved God more

  495. than he loved Mary. But you know what?

  496. He didn't only have a good hold on

  497. truth. And this is what I love about

  498. Joseph. He also had a good hold on his

  499. thoughts. Look what the Bible said. He

  500. was minded to put her away privately.

  501. Verse 20. But while he thought on these

  502. things, you see, Joseph knew the truth.

  503. All right? But you know what? Joseph

  504. loved Mary. And so, you know what? He

  505. wasn't hasty. You know what happens? You

  506. know, when young people get in trouble

  507. is when they get hasty.

  508. >> They get in a hurry. Well, I got to have

  509. it now. I want it now. I got to go on

  510. now. This person loves me and I'm going

  511. to follow it now. You know what happens?

  512. That always leads in destruction.

  513. >> But you see, Joseph, he had a good hold

  514. on his thoughts. His thoughts did not

  515. control him. He loved God more than he

  516. loved Mary. But he also knew that he

  517. loved Mary enough that this must be a

  518. weighty decision. And so, you know what

  519. he did? He gave God enough time to get

  520. to him. You know what? I'm afraid a lot

  521. of people in this damn time, they don't

  522. give God enough time to get to him.

  523. >> Amen. You say, "Preacher, well, God can

  524. get to me anytime." You're exactly

  525. right. But you know what? We make

  526. decisions so many time without

  527. consulting him.

  528. >> Amen. We think we know what's best for

  529. us when in reality, we don't know our I

  530. mean, we don't we don't know nothing

  531. about our life. We don't know what we

  532. need. Here's the fact of the matter. We

  533. would choose the will of God if we were

  534. smart enough to know to choose it.

  535. >> Amen. But the truth is in our life, we

  536. so many times refuse the will of God

  537. because we get in a hurry. We get hasty.

  538. We want to do it our way. Let me tell

  539. you, you better get you a hold on truth.

  540. But you also better get you a hold on

  541. your thoughts.

  542. >> Amen. Joseph here in this text, he had a

  543. good hold on his life. And while you see

  544. this man here is thinking on these

  545. things, notice not only the man in our

  546. text, but note the message in verse 20.

  547. But while he thought on these things,

  548. behold, the angel of the Lord appeared

  549. unto him in a dream. St. Joseph, thou

  550. son of David, fear not to take unto thee

  551. Mary thy wife, for that which is

  552. conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

  553. You see the appearance of this angel,

  554. the angel, I believe it is to be

  555. Gabriel, comes in this text and speaks

  556. here today to Joseph. And notice how he

  557. labels him. He says, "Thou son of

  558. David," he states his rulership, knowing

  559. that he is the one that's heir to the

  560. family. He says, "Joseph, thou son of

  561. David, fear not to take unto thee, marry

  562. thy wife." What was he saying? Well, he

  563. was appearing to him to tell him, "Hey,

  564. you've got an appointment. Hey, that

  565. little woman over THERE THAT'S WITH

  566. CHILD, SHE'S NOT BEEN UNFAITHFUL to you,

  567. but she's been faithful to me. That's

  568. why she's with child." Amen. And so,

  569. hey, Joseph, I'm appointing you to be

  570. her husband and to raise this child.

  571. >> Amen. Look what he says in the text. He

  572. said the the Lord appeared unto him

  573. dreams, saying, Joseph, thou son of

  574. David, fear not to take unto thee Mary

  575. thy wife. Take her unto thee. Look what

  576. he says. For that which is conceived in

  577. her is of the Holy Ghost. And I notice

  578. in that appointing there is the

  579. approval. You see, the conception in her

  580. did not have to do with a relationship

  581. that was outside the will of God, but it

  582. had to do with a supernatural

  583. relationship that she had with the Holy

  584. Ghost of God. YOU SAY, "PREACHER, WHAT

  585. ARE YOU SAYING?" I'm saying the Holy

  586. Ghost overshadowed the womb of that

  587. little virgin girl. History tells us she

  588. was only about 14 OR 15 YEARS OLD and

  589. that little virgin girl bore the son of

  590. God, THE LAMB OF GOD IN her womb. YOU

  591. SAY, "PREACHER, WHAT is that for me

  592. today? What is the application for me?

  593. Will you understand? IF YOU'VE BEEN

  594. SAVED BY THE GRACE OF GOD, JESUS LIVES

  595. ON THE INSIDE of you. AND YOU KNOW WHAT?

  596. THE ONLY WAY THAT HE'LL BE ABLE TO BE

  597. EFFECTIVE IN YOUR LIFE, TO GROW IN YOUR

  598. LIFE, AND TO BE WHO GOD WANTS HIM TO BE

  599. IN YOUR LIFE IS IF YOU ARE PURE AND YOU

  600. ARE PREPARED AND YOU ARE preserved to

  601. receive him.

  602. >> Amen.

  603. >> You see, it's all got to be right in

  604. your life. Amen. You got to have it

  605. right from A to Z. You say, "Preacher, I

  606. don't like that." Well, you just need to

  607. get over it.

  608. >> Amen.

  609. >> Here's the truth about it. If you'll do

  610. right, Amen. you'll be blessed.

  611. >> Amen. I'm not talking about physical

  612. blessings. I'm talking about heavenly

  613. >> spiritual blessings. Amen. Do right. If

  614. the world falls, do right. Amen. If your

  615. parents fall out, if the preacher falls

  616. out, IF THE CHURCH FALLS OUT, HEY, DON'T

  617. YOU QUIT LOVING GOD AND FOLLOWING GOD.

  618. YOU SERVE GOD ALL THE DAYS OF YOUR LIFE

  619. REGARDLESS OF WHAT ANYBODY ELSE DOES

  620. BECAUSE GOD HAS GOT A BLESSING for you

  621. in the place that you are. Amen.

  622. >> Say, preacher, what's the truth out of

  623. this? Well, the message for him was that

  624. he had an appointment.

  625. this little woman

  626. with child of the Holy Ghost. He says,

  627. "Look, you're going to have to take her

  628. to yourself. Look, Joseph, the father

  629. approves." You know, I think there's

  630. nothing greater in this life than

  631. knowing that the father approves

  632. >> in our life. You say, "Joseph loved

  633. Mary." You know why Joseph loved Mary?

  634. Because it was the will of God for him

  635. to love Mary.

  636. >> Amen.

  637. >> It was the will of God for him to love

  638. Mary. And when it seemed like he was

  639. going to have to put her away because of

  640. what seemed like sin, you know what? God

  641. came and spoke to him and said, "Hey,

  642. it's not what it seems, Joseph. That's

  643. your bride, but that baby's mine,

  644. >> and you going to be the one to raise

  645. him." Amen.

  646. >> You say, "Preacher, I'm not getting

  647. nothing out of that." Well, I'm telling

  648. you, it's a helping me. Amen.

  649. >> I don't know about you, but my savior to

  650. know the fact that he was raised in a

  651. humble home.

  652. This boy that was supposed to be a king,

  653. you know what? He wasn't worried about

  654. his kingship. But you know what? But he

  655. did raise the king.

  656. >> That's right.

  657. >> The King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.

  658. >> Amen.

  659. >> A humble home. Didn't have what he

  660. deserved. Probably didn't have all that

  661. they needed. But you know what? God

  662. blessed them.

  663. >> Boy, anybody hear that in the house this

  664. morning? Didn't have what he deserved.

  665. Probably didn't have I know they didn't

  666. have all that THEY NEEDED. BUT GOD

  667. BLESSED their home. Why? BECAUSE THEY

  668. WAS PURE. BECAUSE THEY WAS HOLY. BECAUSE

  669. HE LOVED GOD more than anything else.

  670. >> I consider the man in the message. But I

  671. note this third and I'll be done.

  672. Consider the miracle this morning. The

  673. miracle. The Bible says, "For that which

  674. is conceived in her of the Holy Ghost,

  675. never in history has this been done.

  676. Never was it done before. Never has it

  677. been done again. A virgin has never

  678. conceived a child other than Mary." And

  679. the Bible says in verse 21, the Bible

  680. says, "And she shall bring forth a son,

  681. that shall call his name Jesus, for he

  682. shall save his people from their sin."

  683. There's so many miracles in this text.

  684. There's the miracle of the conception.

  685. The fact that the Holy Ghost would

  686. implant the seed of the father, Jesus

  687. Christ, in the womb of Mary, and that

  688. she would give birth to the son of God

  689. himself, heaven's best child, heaven's

  690. only child, God the father's only son.

  691. He would bring forth a son, and thou

  692. shalt call his name Jesus, for he shall

  693. save his people from their sins. You

  694. understand this morning, church, the

  695. incarnation is the miracle that all of

  696. our beliefs hang upon. If Jesus was not

  697. virgin born, he did not die for our

  698. sins, but he died in his sins. But I'll

  699. tell you this, he was virgin born. And

  700. because he was virgin born, he did die

  701. for our sins. And the Bible tells us in

  702. this text number one in verse 21, this

  703. miracle is that there is a divine birth.

  704. Look what he says. And she shall bring

  705. forth a son.

  706. She shall bring forth a son. You know

  707. what? This been prophesied some 700

  708. years earlier that Jesus would come. A

  709. virgin shall conceive. Isaiah said, "And

  710. she'll bring forth a son. They'll

  711. [clears throat] call his name what?

  712. Emmanuel, which has been interpreted,

  713. God with us." It was prophesied. It was

  714. promised unto the Jews for generations.

  715. It was promised even unto Adam and Eve

  716. in the book of Genesis chapter number

  717. three and verse number 15. God told Eve

  718. in that garden and the serpent when they

  719. were standing there, he told Eve, he

  720. said, "Look, Eve, he said, "Your seed's

  721. going to bruise his head and that and

  722. his seed's going to bruise his heel."

  723. That seed was Jesus. You know what he

  724. did? He he took out the serpent, the

  725. devil on Calvar's cross, and one of

  726. these days, he'll finish him completely.

  727. He was prophesied. He was promised. But

  728. now, he is presented. She shall bring

  729. forth a son. This divine birth.

  730. Galatians 4:4 said when the fullness of

    Galatians 4:4

  731. time was come, God sent forth his son,

  732. made of a woman, made under the law to

  733. redeem them that were under the law. I'm

  734. saying Jesus was sent forth to you and I

  735. so that we could be saved. Amen.

  736. >> This divine birth is also giving us a

  737. defined blessing in verse 21. Look what

  738. the Bible says. and she shall bring

  739. forth a son, and thou shalt call his

  740. name Jesus.

  741. You see, in the scriptures, there's at

  742. least four other men named Jesus. But

  743. there's only they were only named after

  744. Jehovah. You see, Jesus means Jehovah is

  745. salvation. That word Joshua, Joshua in

  746. the Old Testament, and Jesus in the New

  747. Testament, there were other men that

  748. were named Jesus, but there were only

  749. one.

  750. They were all named after Jehovah, but

  751. only one was named as and whose name is

  752. Jehovah.

  753. >> You say, "What is that, preacher?" Well,

  754. when she called his name Jesus, when

  755. Joseph called his name Jesus in verse

  756. number 25 of this text, you know what he

  757. was saying? He wasn't just saying that's

  758. that's who he would be like.

  759. He wouldn't be like Jehovah. That's

  760. right.

  761. >> But he is Jehovah.

  762. >> Amen. He didn't name him that just

  763. because he he represented Jehovah.

  764. He named that because

  765. he is.

  766. There's been a lot of people, thousands

  767. upon thousands named Jesus since Jesus

  768. left this earth. But there'll only ever

  769. be one.

  770. >> Amen. Jesus reigns. Jesus rules. Jesus

  771. righteousness is seen. His blessing is

  772. defined to us. Why? It's defined in his

  773. name. Jehovah is salvation. And look

  774. what he says in verse 21. Thou shalt

  775. call his name Jesus for. He's called

  776. Jesus because his primary ministry, his

  777. purpose of this world, the reason THAT

  778. HE CAME WAS TO DIE. AND WHAT DID HE DIE

  779. FOR? HE SHALL SAVE his people from their

  780. sins.

  781. You see, this divine birth brought

  782. divine blessing, but it also brought

  783. deliverance.

  784. deliverance unto bliss. What did he save

  785. them from? Look what he says. He shall

  786. save his people from what? From their

  787. sins.

  788. You say, "Preacher, what's the truth of

  789. all this?" Well, the Bible says Jesus,

  790. that is Jehovah is salvation. He shall

  791. save. There's salvation. That is the

  792. what of Christ. His He is salvation.

  793. There's his people. That's the who. The

  794. what is going to deliver the who. What?

  795. There is the why. Verse number 21, he

  796. shall save his people from their sins.

  797. We must be delivered. We must be

  798. forgiven from our sins. The only way

  799. that we could be saved is if our sin

  800. problem is dealt with in salvation. And

  801. then then in this text, you say,

  802. "Preacher, well, there's the what, the

  803. who, and the why. But how? What? How's

  804. it going to be done? What's the how?"

  805. Jesus is the how.

  806. >> Amen. They shall call his name Jesus,

  807. for he shall save. He is the how. How

  808. would it be done? Jesus would live a

  809. perfect SINLESS LIFE. 33 AND A HALF

  810. years on this earth. Jesus would live

  811. without a sin, WITHOUT A SPOT, WITH NO

  812. SHAME OF THIS WORLD. NOBODY COULD LAY A

  813. MARK ON HIM. NOBODY COULD SAY THAT HE

  814. EVER MISSED THE MARK. But you know what?

  815. HE WENT UP CALVAR'S CROSS, NOT BEARING

  816. HIS OWN SIN, but bearing my sin and your

  817. sin. AND ON CALVAR'S CROSS, HEY, HE

  818. BROUGHT THE HOW TO PASS. JESUS IS THE

  819. means by which you and I are saved.

  820. >> And this book is the generation of Jesus

  821. Christ. I want to ask you this question

  822. this morning. When I consider this text,

  823. the Bible says in verse 21, he said,

  824. "Thou shalt call his name Jesus."

  825. Let me ask you something.

  826. There was the first time that Joseph and

  827. Mary looked at Jesus, and you know what

  828. they did? They called his name for the

  829. first time. They looked at that little

  830. baby boy and and said, "Jesus,

  831. let me ask you something this morning."

  832. Have you ever called on his name?

  833. >> The Bible says this in Romans 10 verse

  834. number 13. For whosoever shall call upon

  835. the what? The name of the Lord shall be

  836. saved.

  837. >> Peter said it like this in the book of

  838. Acts. He said, "For there's none other

  839. name under heaven given among men

  840. whereby we must be saved."

  841. Jesus. Jesus. Precious Jesus. There's

  842. just something about that name.

  843. >> Master, Savior, Redeemer,

  844. Jesus.

  845. Let all heaven and earth proclaim

  846. kings and kingdoms

  847. >> will all pass away. But there's

  848. something

  849. about that name.

  850. >> There's something about that name.

  851. >> Every head bowed and every eye closed

  852. this morning. I want to ask you,

  853. have you ever called his name?

  854. I'll say this to you. If you're here

  855. lost this morning, he's calling your

  856. name.

  857. He knows who you are. He knows where you

  858. are. And he wants to save you [music]

  859. today.

  860. >> [music]

  861. >> There's no more precious truth in this

  862. life than the miracle

  863. of Jesus Christ.

  864. You see, it's the law that condemns you

  865. and I. Shows us that we're sinners. Paul

  866. said, "The law was my school master.

  867. [music]

  868. Brought me to God. Realize that I had a

  869. need." You know what the Bible says? The

  870. law came by Moses. But grace and truth

  871. came by Jesus Christ.

  872. You can be saved this morning. [music]

  873. You say, "Preacher,

  874. I've never called on his name.

  875. Preacher, I need to be saved." Anybody

  876. be honest this morning? Just slip your

  877. hand up. I want to pray for you. [music]

  878. Preacher, I'm not saved.

  879. Never caught on his name.

  880. slip your hand up and hold it where I

  881. can see it.

  882. Let me say this [music] to you, child of

  883. God.

  884. For those of us that's been saved, you

  885. called his name in the past. Let me ask

  886. you, how long's it been since you called

  887. his name?

  888. How long's it been since you talked with

  889. the Lord,

  890. told him your heart's hidden secrets?

  891. How long has it been since you prayed?

  892. Since you stayed, since you stayed till

  893. your heart knew no burden, the

  894. songwriter said, "Let me ask you,

  895. he's waiting. He wants to speak with you

  896. this morning.

  897. >> [music]

  898. [music]

  899. >> Father

  900. Lord, I thank you this morning that

  901. when you came, you didn't come in

  902. royalty

  903. because Lord, I don't know. I couldn't

  904. relate to a king.

  905. But Lord, you came

  906. in humility,

  907. lowly to the poorest

  908. of the poor,

  909. [music] in a small place, in a lowly

  910. place, laid in a manger.

  911. [music]

  912. And Lord, I can sure identify with you.

  913. Lord, I'm so thankful, God, that you

  914. came to that lonely place so you might

  915. bring me to the lofty place.

  916. That you became sin for us who knew no

  917. sin, that we might be made the

  918. righteousness of God.

  919. You became a son of man that we the sons

  920. of men might might become the sons of

  921. God. And I exalt you. I praise you for

  922. that. this morning. And I pray this

  923. morning that you would help us, Lord, to

  924. [music] cling to that name.

  925. Hold to it. Trust in it always.

  926. Thank you for this season. We celebrate

  927. your birth. For we love you. We pray

  928. you'd bless the remainder of this day.

  929. We ask it in Jesus name. Amen.
