  7. with a word from God.

  8. Amen.

  9. He is great. Amen.

  10. >> Amen. He is great. I appreciate the Lord

  11. this morning. All right. If you have a

  12. Bible, turn with me to the book of Ezra.

  13. Book of Ezra. Ezra, chapter number nine.

  14. Ezra, chapter number nine. If you see

  15. the book of Nehemiah, you need to go

  16. backwards. Amen. Amen. you see the book

  17. of Nehemiah, you need to go backwards

  18. and find yourself there in the book of

  19. Ezra.

  20. Ezra, chapter number nine.

  21. When you find your place, I'll invite

  22. you to stand with me on reference to the

  23. reading of God's word.

  24. Israel chapter number nine.

  25. Different portion of scripture the

  26. Lord's put on my heart for the service

  27. today, but just want to be obedient to

  28. him the best that I know how. Ezra

    Ezra 9 chapter mention

  29. chapter 9. You found your place there.

  30. Say amen.

  31. >> Amen.

  32. >> Amen. We'll start reading Ezra chapter

    Ezra 9 chapter mention

  33. 9. I want to begin reading verse number

  34. five. Ezra chapter number nine verse

  35. number five. And uh I hope that uh

  36. you'll be patient with me this morning

  37. as we deal with this text. I want to

  38. make sure I give the Lord plenty of time

  39. to have his way. And uh I'll say this

  40. this morning, you come to these passages

  41. of scripture. Uh many times we're not as

  42. familiar with. And so I want to labor uh

  43. pretty extensively this morning to give

  44. you the context of this chapter and of

  45. this story. Probably preach again here

  46. out of this text tonight. Ezra chapter

    Ezra 9 chapter mention

  47. 9. Notice verse number five. Verse

  48. number five. Ezra chapter 9:5.

  49. The Bible says, "And at the evening

  50. sacrifice, I rose up from my heaviness.

  51. And having rent my garment and my

  52. mantle, I fell upon my knees." This is

  53. Ezra speaking, "and spread out my hands

  54. unto the Lord my God. And said, Oh my

  55. God, I am ashamed and blushed to lift up

  56. my face to thee, my God. For our

  57. iniquities are increased over our head,

  58. and our trespass is grown up into the

  59. heavens. Since the days of our fathers

  60. have we been in a great trespass unto

  61. this day, and for our iniquities have

  62. we, our kings and our priests, been

  63. delivered into the hand of the kings of

  64. the lands, to the sword, to captivity,

  65. and to a spo, and to confusion of face,

  66. as it is this day. Notice verse number

  67. eight. The Bible says, "And now for a

  68. little space grace hath been showed from

  69. the Lord our God, to leave us a remnant

  70. to escape and to give us a nail in his

  71. holy place."

  72. >> Yes.

  73. >> That our God may lighten our eyes and

  74. give us a little reviving in our

  75. bondage.

  76. >> For we were bondmen,

  77. yet our God hath not forsaken us.

  78. >> Amen.

  79. For we were bond, yet our God hath not

  80. forsaken us in our bondage, but hath

  81. extended mercy unto us in the sight of

  82. the kings of Persia, to give us a

  83. reviving to set up the house of our God,

  84. and to repair the desolations thereof,

  85. and to give us a wall in Judah and in

  86. Jerusalem. In verse number 10, the Bible

  87. says, "And now, oh our God, what shall

  88. we say after this? For we have forsaken

  89. thy commandments, which thou has

  90. commanded by thy servants, the prophets,

  91. saying, The land unto which you go to

  92. possess, it is an unclean land, with the

  93. filthiness of the people of the lands,

  94. with their abominations, which have

  95. filled it from one end to another, with

  96. their uncleanness. Now therefore give

  97. not your daughters unto their sons,

  98. neither take their daughters unto your

  99. sons, nor seek their peace or their

  100. wealth forever, that you may be strong

  101. and eat the good of the land, and leave

  102. it for an inheritance to your children

  103. forever. And after all that has come

  104. upon us for our evil deeds and for our

  105. great trespass, seeing that thou our God

  106. has punished us less than our iniquities

  107. deserve, and hast given us such

  108. deliverance as this, should we again

  109. break thy commandments, and join in

  110. affinity with the people of these

  111. abominations?

  112. Would us not thou be angry with us till

  113. thou hast consumed us, so that there

  114. should be no remnant nor escaping? Oh

  115. Lord God of Israel, thou art righteous.

  116. For we remain yet escaped as it is this

  117. day. For behold, we are before thee in

  118. our trespasses. For we cannot stand

  119. before thee because of this. Let's pray

  120. together this morning. Father, Lord, I

  121. thank you for this passage of scripture

  122. that you've allowed me to read this

  123. morning. Lord, such a powerful piece of

  124. scripture, Lord, where the man of God

  125. was burdened for the children of Israel.

  126. And God, I come today with a burden,

  127. Lord, for this church. And God, for the

  128. church as a whole, Lord, God, the church

  129. is not what she should be in this day

  130. and time.

  131. >> And God, I pray, Lord, you would help

  132. us, Lord, as we consider this text. God,

  133. as I try to share my burden the best I

  134. know how. God, I pray you give us wisdom

  135. and discernment. Fill us with thy

  136. spirit. Give us uncction. Give us

  137. liberty to preach this morning. And God,

  138. I pray, Lord, that we would leave here

  139. today knowing that we've met with you.

  140. God, I pray more than anything that you

  141. would get glory to yourself. Save the

  142. sinner nearest hell this morning.

  143. Reclaim the backsliding. And for what

  144. you do, we'll be sure to give you thanks

  145. because we ask it in Jesus name. Amen.

  146. Thank you for standing. You can be

  147. seated this morning.

  148. As I was praying about this service

  149. today, I didn't have a specific

  150. direction the Lord led me in. I was just

  151. reading in my devotion time and this

  152. text come across my devotion time and I

  153. was praying what God would have us for

  154. today. And I couldn't get away from this

  155. text. And I I want to know I want you to

  156. note with me this morning here. And I

  157. I'll give you the thought the Lord's put

  158. on my heart in this text. But notice

  159. verse number eight. Verse number eight.

  160. The Bible says, "Ezra spoke and

  161. said,"Now for a little space grace hath

  162. been showed from the Lord our God to

  163. leave us a remnant to escape and to give

  164. us a nail in his holy place that our God

  165. may lighten our eyes and give us a

  166. little reviving in our bondage." And

  167. what you're reading this morning is the

  168. broken heart of a man of God that is

  169. sick of the sin of the people that

  170. surround him.

  171. >> Right?

  172. >> And in this text, you'll notice he makes

  173. a plea unto the Lord. And he says in

  174. verse number 10, he says, "Oh our God,

  175. what shall we say after this? For we

  176. have forsaken thy commandments." I want

  177. to preach on this thought for just a

  178. little while with the help of the Lord

  179. on sinning against God.

  180. in the space of grace.

  181. >> Sinning against God in the space of

  182. grace. Ezra here records a unique time

  183. period in history. Really Ezra does not

  184. even appear in the book of Ezra until

  185. chapter number seven. He comes on the

  186. scene with King Artic Xeries, his

  187. appearance in the book of Ezra. And he

  188. comes on the pages of scripture in

  189. chapter number seven. And immediately

  190. right off the beginning here, his

  191. pedigree is given in chapter 7 verses

  192. one down through verse number five. His

  193. lineage is traced all the way back to

  194. Aaron his father that he was

  195. legitimately a priest after the Aeronic

  196. priesthood. And so his pedigree is given

  197. in chapter 7. His preparation is given

  198. in chapter 7. The Bible says in verse

  199. number six that this Ezra went up from

  200. Babylon. And the Bible says that he was

  201. a ready scribe in the law of Moses which

  202. the Lord God of Israel had given. And

  203. the king granted him all his requests

  204. according to the hand of the Lord his

  205. God upon him. And so some almost a

  206. hundred years, more like 75 years

  207. earlier, there had been a group of

  208. people that had been sent back into

  209. Israel from captivity. They had left

  210. Babylon under the rulership of Cyrus and

  211. they had been sent back to build again

  212. the temple of the Lord. And they went

  213. back there and they started work. But

  214. after a time period, there was a an

  215. event that took place, a letter that was

  216. found and work had to cease there in

  217. Jerusalem. And so for another king's

  218. reign, the work was ceased. And then

  219. Darius shows up on the scene after that.

  220. And then they begin partially to do a

  221. little bit more work. And then again

  222. work is ceased. And then here in chapter

  223. number seven there is a this man Ezra

  224. comes on the scene and his burden is to

  225. go back to Jerusalem and to build the

  226. house of God. And so he has been given

  227. permission. In verse six, the king

  228. granted him all his requests according

  229. to the hand of the Lord his God upon

  230. him. And God's hand is on this man Ezra.

  231. He has prepared. He has given the

  232. provision in chapter 7 11- 26. And out

  233. of this provision that is given to him,

  234. the decree of art exeres would in

  235. essence say that Ezra had all authority,

  236. every resource, every man, every

  237. resource, everything was under the

  238. control of Ezra for him to do as he

  239. will. And Ezra's response to this decree

  240. in chapter 7 and verse 27, he says this,

  241. "Blessed be the Lord God of our fathers,

  242. which have put such a thing as this in

  243. the king's heart to beautify the house

  244. of the Lord which is in Jerusalem." And

  245. so they begin gathering up the

  246. materials, those vessels that were

  247. carried away in the days of

  248. Nebuchadnezzar. He is gathering up the

  249. gold and gathering up the silver. And

  250. articles tells Ezra, he says, "Whatever

  251. else you need, however much you need,

  252. get all that you need out of my

  253. treasury." And I still believe the Bible

  254. says the heart of the king is in the

  255. hand of the Lord. Amen. And he turneth

  256. it whethersoever he will. That's true in

  257. our day. Amen. But God blessed Ezra

  258. because Ezra was desiring to work on the

  259. house of God. And he praises the Lord

  260. for the blessing, this decree by the

  261. king art exer in verse 27. And in verse

  262. 28, he exclaims the mercy. The Bible

  263. says he's extended mercy unto me before

  264. the king and his counselors and before

  265. all the king's mighty princes. And I was

  266. strengthened as the land of the Lord my

  267. God was upon me. And I gathered together

  268. out of Israel chief men to go up with

  269. me. And so in chapter 8, you find their

  270. passage. And all through chapter number

  271. eight, they are traveling four months

  272. time, some 900 miles into Jerusalem to

  273. make this journey from the land of

  274. Babylon there from their lineage of or

  275. from their uh stay there with the king

  276. arted Xeries in that land. And he's got

  277. a group of men going with him back

  278. there. And the Bible says that they make

  279. their journey prosperous. And after

  280. their passage, verse number 36, they

  281. delivered the king's commissions under

  282. the king's lieutenants and to the

  283. governors on this side of the river. And

  284. they furthered the people and the house

  285. of God. And so Ezra's work here seeming

  286. to go in the right direction.

  287. Everything's going on schedule, on plan.

  288. They've been there for some four months

  289. at this time there in the land of

  290. Israel. When chapter nine comes around

  291. and the Bible says that after production

  292. has taken place and the people are

  293. encouraged and the house of the Lord is

  294. growing and looking better all the time.

  295. The Bible says in chapter 9 and verse

  296. number one, "Now when these things were

  297. done, the princes came to me, Ezra's

  298. here, saying, the people of Israel and

  299. the priests and the Levites have not

  300. separated themselves from the people of

  301. the lands, doing according to their

  302. abominations, even of the Canaanites,

  303. the Hittites, the Parizzites, the

  304. Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites,

  305. the Egyptians, and the Amorites." And he

  306. gives the indictment against them in

  307. verse two. For they have taken of their

  308. daughters for themselves and for their

  309. sons, so that the holy sea have mingled

  310. themselves with the people of those

  311. lands. Yay, the hand of the princes and

  312. rulers hath been chief in this trespass.

  313. And so chapter 9:es 1 through3 begins

  314. with the guilty and their sin. how that

  315. the leadership, the priests and the

  316. Levites as they have come back into this

  317. land, they have refused to forsake their

  318. wives. We know the commandment of

  319. scripture teaches that the children of

  320. Israel never intermar intermarry with

  321. any of the Canaanite people. None of

  322. them because they were wicked people.

  323. And what happened to Solomon? Solomon's

  324. failure was because he married into a

  325. wicked race of people. And Ezra in this

  326. chapter, he gets news of this sin and

  327. that the Levites, the holy ones, the

  328. priests, those that were supposed to be

  329. taking care of the house of God, they

  330. have impurified themselves by this

  331. wickedness in drawing their

  332. relationships with those who were in the

  333. land. You're

  334. >> right.

  335. >> You say, "Preacher, what are you

  336. saying?" I'm saying it's just like it is

  337. in our day.

  338. >> You're right.

  339. It seems as if the church

  340. has just yolked up with the world.

  341. >> Amen.

  342. >> And Ezra, the man of God's burdened

  343. about. You see the guilty and their sin,

  344. but you see the servants's grief. In

  345. verses 3 through5, the Bible says, "And

  346. when I heard this thing," look what he

  347. says. I rent my garment. He says, "I

  348. rent my garment and my mantel and

  349. plucked off the hair of my head and of

  350. my beard and sat down a stone." And Ezra

  351. is so shaken by this news. You

  352. understand these men, he's just

  353. journeyed some 900 miles with them,

  354. coming back into the land of Israel to

  355. restore the work at the house of God.

  356. And then after everything's going good,

  357. everything looks all right down at the

  358. temple there and they're producing, the

  359. people are growing and things are

  360. happening and everything looks all

  361. right. This one little truth is brought

  362. to him that tells him that pretty much

  363. all these men that were helping him with

  364. the exception of just a few have defiled

  365. themselves. You're

  366. >> right.

  367. >> They've defiled themselves. And you know

  368. what Ezra's burdened about it? Because

  369. here's the truth about it. God will not

  370. use a dirty vessel.

  371. >> Right?

  372. >> And so, you know what was good in

  373. chapter number eight? It looked good on

  374. the outside.

  375. >> Come on.

  376. >> Ezra even tells them, he looks at those

  377. men, one text, you can turn back there

  378. and read it in chapter number eight. He

  379. says, he says, "You're all holy unto the

  380. Lord." They bowed by that river there in

  381. the chapter number eight. And and they

  382. were fasting and praying. And Ezra said,

  383. "Sanctify yourselves. You're all holy

  384. unto the Lord." Why is that? They were

  385. bringing the instruments of the temple

  386. home. They were bringing the gold

  387. vessels and the bases. They were

  388. bringing back the beautifification of

  389. the temple.

  390. >> Right?

  391. >> All the while their homes were

  392. >> good.

  393. >> And so the man of God is grieved. And

  394. you notice out of this in our text, his

  395. his grief leds him to leads him to

  396. supplicate. The Bible says in verses

  397. 3-5, you'll notice his heaviness there.

  398. In verse 5, he said, "At the evening sac

  399. evening sacrifice, I rose up from my

  400. heaviness." He spent most of the day

  401. bitter because of this sin shocked and

  402. astonished. That means he was literally

  403. astounded. He said, "I having rent my

  404. garment, my mantle, I fell upon my knees

  405. and spread out my hands under the Lord

  406. my God." I'll tell you this, when you

  407. get news of sin, that's the first that's

  408. the that'll be the first response you

  409. have,

  410. >> right? that you ought to fall down

  411. before God.

  412. And in this text, he falls down before

  413. the Lord. And the Bible says in verse

  414. six, he said, "Oh my God, I am ashamed

  415. and blush to lift up my face to thee, my

  416. God." You see here, his supplication, he

  417. reveals the shame of sin. He said, "God,

  418. I'm ashamed." You say, "Preacher, but

  419. Ezra wasn't a part of this." No, he

  420. wasn't. But you know what? These were

  421. his people,

  422. >> right?

  423. >> And you know what? It was their sin. And

  424. because it was their sin, he counted it

  425. his sin.

  426. >> You're right.

  427. >> David said the same thing. Solomon said

  428. the same thing. Moses, all of them. When

  429. they when the children of Israel had

  430. sinned, when Moses intreated for the

  431. children of Israel, HE DIDN'T SAY

  432. they've sinned.

  433. >> He said we have sinned.

  434. >> And Ezra goes to God on their behalf to

  435. pray for them. And he shows the shame of

  436. their sin. He said, "I'm ashamed and

  437. blush to lift up my face to thee." You

  438. know what the pro where the problem in

  439. America really started really where it

  440. really started to get bad is when people

  441. no longer blushed at sin.

  442. >> When the church of God when they just

  443. started glancing over it and just

  444. accepting it and say, "Well, that's just

  445. what everybody else does. We don't have

  446. to do that. But we're not going to let

  447. it affect us."

  448. >> Come on.

  449. >> You say, "Preacher, well that's my

  450. mindset." Well, let me tell you

  451. something. If sin don't grieve you, it

  452. won't be long before you're in the

  453. middle of it.

  454. >> You're right.

  455. >> Amen. And that's exactly right. If you

  456. do not, if you try to glance OVER SIN,

  457. HEY, SIN OUGHT TO GRIEVE YOU. I'm

  458. telling you, THE SIN OF THIS COUNTRY

  459. GRIEVES ME TO MY very core.

  460. >> You say, "Preacher, but look at our

  461. leadership and look at all that's being

  462. done. They're the most wicked people.

  463. >> No character,

  464. >> full of immorality,

  465. >> right?

  466. >> Full of LUST AND AND SEXISM AND JUST

  467. TURNED on every WHICH WAY. THEY'RE

  468. MESSED UP. THEY'RE SINFUL. AND IT

  469. grieves me.

  470. >> Amen.

  471. >> I'll tell you what grieves me worse than

  472. that. The sins in this church.

  473. >> You're right.

  474. >> Ezra was grieved to the point and he

  475. said, "Lord, I'm ashamed

  476. to even turn my eyes to you."

  477. You know, the truth is

  478. the heart of every preacher when he

  479. loves his congregation, when there's sin

  480. in the camp, you know what? He feels

  481. this very same way. You're right.

  482. >> He said, "I'm ashamed and blushed to

  483. lift up my face to thee, my God." Look

  484. what he says. For our iniquities are

  485. increased over our head, and our

  486. trespass has grown up into the heavens.

  487. You see, the shame was large to Ezra,

  488. but the sin was larger.

  489. >> You're right.

  490. >> He said, "Lord, I'm ashamed to look your

  491. way." He said, "But Lord, our sin's so

  492. great. I have to look to you."

  493. >> Amen.

  494. >> BECAUSE WE ARE IN A MESS. AND BOY, IT'S

  495. HIGH TIME somebody realized that. You're

  496. >> right.

  497. >> Ezra's the only one. They've been going

  498. on all this time. JUST LIKE EVERYTHING'S

  499. OKAY. EVERYTHING'S OPERATING JUST FINE.

  500. BUT SOMEHOW A MAN OF GOD STEPS UP AND

  501. AND HE SEES EVERYTHING THAT'S NOT RIGHT

  502. AFTER they come to him and tell him. You

  503. know, I've been placed before. I've

  504. watched other pastors before. They get

  505. news of a sin that's going on in the

  506. house of God. You know what I watch

  507. happen to them? I watch them fall to

  508. pieces. You're

  509. >> right.

  510. >> Why? because they're burdened.

  511. >> You're right.

  512. >> For the house of God.

  513. He reveals the shame of sin. He reveals

  514. the suffering for sin. In verse 7, look

  515. what he says. Since the days of our

  516. fathers have we been in a great trespass

  517. unto this day, and for our iniquities

  518. have we, our kings and our priests been

  519. delivered into the hand of the kings of

  520. the lands, to the sword, to captivity,

  521. and to a spoil, and a confusion of

  522. faith. as it is this day. HE RECOUNTS

  523. ALL THE HISTORY. The reason why that

  524. they were delivered INTO

  525. NEBUCHADNEZZAR'S HAND WAS THEIR SIN.

  526. THE REASON WHY GOD TURNED THEM OVER TO

  527. CAPTIVITY AND DELIVERED THEM AWAY IS

  528. BECAUSE THEY REFUSED HIS COMMANDMENT.

  529. THEY WOULD NOT SERVE HIM. THEY WOULD NOT

  530. OBEY THE LAW OF GOD. AND WHAT IS OUR

  531. THOUGHT WHEN WE THINK WE CAN MAKE A

  532. PRAYER TO GOD living in sin?

  533. >> Come on.

  534. >> YOU'RE GOING TO SUFFER WHEN YOU LIVE IN

  535. SIN.

  536. >> YOU'RE RIGHT.

  537. YOU WILL FACE THE CONSEQUENCES of your

  538. sin because sin always

  539. brings suffering.

  540. He reveals the shame of sin. He reveals

  541. the suffering for sin. And in verse

  542. number eight, he reveals the space,

  543. the space from sin. Look what he says.

  544. And now for a little space of grace hath

  545. been showed from the Lord our God.

  546. You say, "Preacher, what does that

  547. mean?" Well, verse seven, he just

  548. recounts the how they were delivered

  549. away.

  550. You see, Nebuchadnezzar came and take

  551. them with brutal force, killed off many

  552. of them, took the best and brought them

  553. back, left the rest to die.

  554. And because of their sin, they were

  555. brutally destroyed, brutally taken from

  556. their land, and they were treated poorly

  557. in captivity. And many of them faced

  558. death. And the Bible says, Ezra says,

  559. "Now look, here we are back in the land

  560. and now we're guilty of the same thing

  561. >> that God us took out of here to start

  562. with."

  563. You know, it's a dangerous place

  564. when God has forgiven you over and over

  565. and over again.

  566. >> You're right. Amen.

  567. >> And you go back to the same sin.

  568. >> Yes.

  569. >> You say, "Preacher, what's the truth?"

  570. Well, I want to preach on this thought.

  571. sinning against God in the space of

  572. grace. You see, they God has given Ezra

  573. this vision to go back and rebuild and

  574. finish the house of God and to make it

  575. what it's supposed to be. And you know

  576. what? He's given him this vision. He's

  577. given him men. But you know what? Those

  578. men that come with him, he finds out

  579. that they're defiled and that there is

  580. going to be no labor that takes place

  581. any further until their defilement is

  582. dealt with. You know, the reason why I

  583. feel like many of our churches are

  584. hindered and even this church could be

  585. hindered on many occasions is because

  586. there's sin that's present that is not

  587. dealt with.

  588. >> That's good.

  589. >> You say, "Preacher, well, you don't know

  590. about it." And you're exactly right. If

  591. I knew about it, I'd preach against

  592. today, man.

  593. >> Right.

  594. >> What I'm saying is in this text, he's

  595. telling them, "Hey, God has given us an

  596. opportunity to rebuild, but until you

  597. repent,

  598. >> Amen.

  599. >> there's going to be no rebuilding that's

  600. done." You're

  601. >> right.

  602. You know, I think that's the case in

  603. many places, and I'm not trying to be

  604. too

  605. apply this too broadly, but I think

  606. there's places, churches, where they go

  607. through a lot, and there's a big mess,

  608. splits, and all of that stuff. And then

  609. after that, God gives them a space to

  610. repent, get right, and rebuild. And what

  611. happens? There's somebody there that's

  612. hanging on to sin,

  613. >> right?

  614. >> There's somebody there that's hanging on

  615. to bitterness. Somebody there that's

  616. hanging on to some uh past life or doing

  617. something hidden that nobody knows

  618. about. And Ezra is telling him, he says,

  619. "All he's he's praying to God and he

  620. says,"Lord, you've given us this space,

  621. but yet here we are wasting it."

  622. >> You're right.

  623. >> You say, "Preacher, how does that relate

  624. to us?" Well, you know what day we're

  625. living in, right?

  626. >> Day of grace. You're

  627. >> right.

  628. >> And you know what you're doing refusing

  629. God in this day? You are sinning away

  630. the day of grace. YOU ARE SINNING

  631. AGAINST GOD IN THE SPACE OF GRACE.

  632. NOTICE WHAT IS G. YOU SEE, THERE'S SOME

  633. THINGS THAT'S given in this space of

  634. grace. What is what does Ezra say is

  635. given in this space? Look what he says.

  636. And now for a little space grace hath

  637. been showed from the Lord our God. And

  638. out of this, God is giving them an

  639. opportunity. Notice what your Bible

  640. says. Number one, sinning against God in

  641. the space of grace. They were sinning

  642. against the people. Look what the Bible

  643. says. He says, the Bible says he grace

  644. has been showed from the Lord our God to

  645. leave us a remnant to escape.

  646. God had left a remnant that had made it

  647. through the bondage, made it through the

  648. persecution, that had stayed through all

  649. of the kings AND THAT HAD FOLLOWED

  650. FAITHFULLY AND GOD HAD ALLOWED THEM TO

  651. live and serve and God left. I'm

  652. thankful that Romans, the book of Romans

  653. says even at this present time, there's

  654. a remnant according to the election of

  655. grace. God's always going to have his

  656. Jews. Amen. And when he comes back, he's

  657. going to reign on the throne of David

  658. for THOSE JEWS. BUT THIS TEXT REVEALS to

  659. us he has left a remnant. YOU

  660. UNDERSTAND? GOD COULD HAVE WIPED THEM

  661. OUT. You're

  662. >> right.

  663. >> GOD COULD HAVE SENT THEM OFF INTO

  664. CAPTIVITY AND NEVER GIVE HIM ANOTHER

  665. OPPORTUNITY AGAIN. You're

  666. >> right.

  667. >> Oh, but what's the truth? God left a

  668. remnant.

  669. >> Amen.

  670. >> Let me say this to you this morning.

  671. Lost man, hey, God's left a remnant.

  672. >> Yes.

  673. >> The people of God you're seated among

  674. this morning, God has left them. Why?

  675. Because you need an example. YOU'RE

  676. >> RIGHT.

  677. >> GOD HAS LEFT A REMNANT. And God has left

  678. this remnant. What is this remnant

  679. represents? Well, it represents that

  680. there was deliverance instead of

  681. destruction. Look what the Bible said in

  682. verse 8. He has he's to leave us a

  683. remnant to escape. God left the people

  684. that he did not destroy,

  685. but he left the people that he

  686. delivered.

  687. >> You're right.

  688. >> Out of bondage. Hey, friend, everybody

  689. you're looking at in here this morning

  690. that's saved, that's what what's what's

  691. happened to us. Amen. We've been

  692. delivered, we've been saved from

  693. destruction. Amen. Notice, not only

  694. we've been delivered instead of

  695. destroyed, but there's a remnant instead

  696. of rending God. He could have rent the

  697. kingdom away and never give it back

  698. again. Never give him an opportunity to

  699. go home. You're right.

  700. >> And gave that land to somebody else.

  701. >> There was a remnant instead of the

  702. rending. There was deliverance instead

  703. of destruction. There was an escape

  704. instead of imprisonment.

  705. Look at it again. He has left us a

  706. remnant to escape.

  707. Oh friend, that's what we are.

  708. >> Amen.

  709. >> We've escaped the judgment of sin. Hey,

  710. we're dead to sin. Amen.

  711. >> Yeah.

  712. >> We've escaped, Amen. this world and it's

  713. judgment. That's what Egypt's a type of

  714. anyway. Amen. We've escaped. We've been

  715. delivered. Amen. We didn't get turned

  716. over to the world, but God brought us

  717. out. Amen. There's anybody in the

  718. building this morning. Amen. I'm saying,

  719. "Praise God. We have been delivered."

  720. And you know what? This crowd that

  721. sinned, they were sinning against the

  722. remnant.

  723. >> You're right.

  724. >> When you choose

  725. to walk against the will of God, you're

  726. sinning against God, but you're also

  727. sinning against his church.

  728. >> You're right. I'll give you that in just

  729. a minute. Some more on that. But he

  730. leads the people. Verse number eight, in

  731. this space of grace, he not only leads

  732. the people, but he leaves a provision.

  733. Look what the Bible says. That grace has

  734. been showed from the Lord our God to

  735. leave us a remnant to escape and to give

  736. us a nail in his holy place. You're

  737. >> right.

  738. >> What does a nail do? It holds. It's a

  739. symbol of stability. And when Ezra said

  740. that God has given us a nail in his holy

  741. place, he was saying there's something

  742. that's steady and unmoving and

  743. unchanging in the holy place. What is

  744. that? Well, IT'S JESUS CHRIST. HE is the

  745. nail in the holy place. He is

  746. unchanging. He is unmovable. Jesus

  747. Christ the same yesterday, TODAY, AND

  748. FOREVER. HE IS UNMOVING. HE HAS GIVEN US

  749. A NAIL IN THE HOLY PLACE.

  750. >> It's a symbol of stability. It's not

  751. only a symbol of stability, but it's a

  752. symbol of opportunity.

  753. >> As long as the nail is there, they can

  754. enter.

  755. >> You're right.

  756. >> I'm saying as long as Jesus lives.

  757. >> Amen.

  758. >> And he lives forever MORE. AMEN. THERE

  759. IS A nail in the holy PLACE THAT WE CAN

  760. GO TO. IT SYMBOLIZES WE HAVE A STABLE

  761. PLACE FOR OTHER FOUNDATION CAN NO MAN

  762. LAY THAN THAT THAT IS LAID, WHICH IS

  763. CHRIST JESUS. BUT IT SYMBOLIZES THAT

  764. THERE IS AN OPPORTUNITY.

  765. >> You're right.

  766. >> Peter said it this way in Acts chapter

  767. number four. He said, "For there's none

  768. other name under heaven given among men

  769. whereby you must be saved."

  770. >> You're right.

  771. >> It's Jesus.

  772. >> It symbolizes stability. It symbolizes

  773. opportunity that there would be access

  774. to God. It symbolizes not only stability

  775. and opportunity, but it symbolizes

  776. sufficiency. Look what the Bible says in

  777. verse eight to give us a nail in his

  778. holy place.

  779. >> He was saying, Ezra said, God has given

  780. us everything.

  781. >> Amen.

  782. >> That we need.

  783. >> Do you realize this morning we are

  784. lacking nothing?

  785. >> You're right.

  786. >> We're not missing anything. You say,

  787. "Preacher, well, I missed a meal

  788. yesterday." Oh, but if you're saved,

  789. FRIEND, YOU MIGHT MISS miss every meal

  790. FROM HERE UNTIL YOU GO HOME. OH, but

  791. you've got riches money can't buy.

  792. YOU'VE GOT WEALTH THAT THE WORLD KNOWS

  793. NOTHING ABOUT. I'M SAYING WE'RE LACKING

  794. NOTHING. WHY? BECAUSE OF THE NAIL IN THE

  795. HOLY PLACE. AMEN. I'M SAYING THERE'S A

  796. PROVISION THAT'S BEEN LEFT US.

  797. >> You say, "Preacher, what is that nail?"

  798. It's that blessed Bible right there.

  799. >> The only STABLE THING THAT YOU AND I

  800. HAVE IN THIS LIFE WHEN OUR FEELINGS ARE

  801. UP AND DOWN AND OUR FRIENDS ARE IN AND

  802. OUT AND OUR FAMILY SEEMS LIKE THEY'VE

  803. LEFT US. LET ME JUST TELL YOU THIS

  804. BLESSED WORD. IT'S ALWAYS THE SAME. IT

  805. ALWAYS READS THE SAME. SOMEBODY HELP THE

  806. PREACHER THIS MORNING. HEY, WE HAVE A

  807. NOW IN THE HOLY PLACE. AMEN.

  808. >> We have a provision that's steady.

  809. >> We have a provision that presents every

  810. man, woman, boy, and girl an opportunity

  811. to be saved.

  812. >> For whosoever will, let him call upon

  813. the name of the Lord, they shall be

  814. saved. Amen. I'm saying to you this

  815. morning, hey, there is a nail, there was

  816. a provision that's left them. HEY, LET

  817. ME JUST SAY IT for us this morning,

  818. CHURCH. JUST BECAUSE there's sickness,

  819. just because THERE'S SUFFERING, JUST

  820. BECAUSE there's surgeries, AND JUST

  821. BECAUSE THERE'S CIRCUMSTANCES OF HEALING

  822. THAT WE ALL NEED, LET ME TELL YOU, THE

  823. NAIL IS STILL HANGING THERE. AND JUST

  824. HANG YOUR LIFE BY IT. AMEN.

  825. >> AND LET it carry you all the way.

  826. Hallelujah. Hey, it's not just good just

  827. for salvation, but it's good for the

  828. rest of our life, too. Amen.

  829. >> I'm saying he gave them a provision

  830. >> that he would help them because he is

  831. all that they need. Then there's a

  832. product in the text.

  833. He's given us a nail in his holy place.

  834. I'm talking about this is what you sin

  835. against when you walk against Amen. the

  836. space of grace.

  837. >> Look what the Bible says. He's given us

  838. a nail in his holy place that our God

  839. may lighten our eyes.

  840. >> Yeah.

  841. >> And give us a little reviving

  842. in our bondage.

  843. >> Yeah.

  844. >> You see, this is the product. What is

  845. the product of? Well, he's left the

  846. people.

  847. >> Amen.

  848. >> That remnant. Amen.

  849. >> But he left the provision. That's the

  850. word of God. When you take the people of

  851. God and you take the precepts of God and

  852. you put them together, you know what you

  853. have? You have revival.

  854. >> Amen.

  855. >> You know why we don't have revival?

  856. Because the people of God ain't getting

  857. yolked up with the pre precepts. Amen.

  858. Somebody say amen right there. Hey, it's

  859. not an experience just a supernatural

  860. mystical thing that takes place. Revival

  861. is what happens every time the heart of

  862. man links up with the HEART OF GOD.

  863. WHERE DOES THAT HAPPEN? It happens in

  864. the Bible. The Bible says THAT MERCY AND

  865. TRUTH HAVE KISSED each other. Where is

  866. that? In the person of Jesus Christ. And

  867. he IS THE MEDIATOR BETWEEN GOD AND MAN.

  868. AND SO IN HIM THERE IS REVIVAL IN HIM.

  869. AMEN. Look what he says. He's given us a

  870. light

  871. that God may lighten our eyes. He has

  872. revealed light. But he has given us

  873. revived life. Verse eight. And give us a

  874. little reviving

  875. in our bondage.

  876. Ezra said, "God has given us all these

  877. things. He's given us life. He's given

  878. us light. He showed us his love." Notice

  879. verse number nine. For we were bondman.

  880. This is why I got so teeyed reading this

  881. a while ago because I knew where I was

  882. going.

  883. >> Come on.

  884. >> Verse nine. Look what he says. For we we

  885. we were bondman. Yet our God hath not

  886. forsaken us.

  887. >> Amen.

  888. >> He's given us life. He's given us light.

  889. He showed us his love. How did he do

  890. that? He didn't leave us. You're

  891. >> right.

  892. >> Oh man.

  893. >> Amen.

  894. >> You know how many times we failed him?

  895. Yeah.

  896. >> You know how many years and days that

  897. people in this room have lived away from

  898. him? And yet we're HERE THIS MORNING.

  899. AND GOD HAS ALLOWED US TO BE HERE. I'M

  900. SAYING HE DIDN'T FORSAKE US IN OUR

  901. BONDAGE. HE LEFT us a NAIL IN THE HOLY

  902. PLACE THAT WE MIGHT KNOW WHERE TO FIND

  903. LIFE AND WHERE WE COULD HAVE LIFE. WHY?

  904. BECAUSE HE SHOWED US HIS LOVE. AMEN.

  905. >> He didn't forsake us while we was in

  906. bondage.

  907. >> Yes.

  908. >> And notice this.

  909. What's the problem? What's the problem?

  910. Notice verse 10.

  911. God has given us his people. He's given

  912. us his provision. He's given us the

  913. product is as light, life, and love.

  914. Amen. And in verse 10, the man of God

  915. says this. And now, oh our God, what

  916. shall we say after this?

  917. >> Yes.

  918. >> For we have forsaken thy commandments.

  919. >> Yes.

  920. The only thing that would bring revival

  921. and restoration to the children of

  922. Israel was the only thing that they left

  923. behind.

  924. >> You're right.

  925. >> They brought the gold back.

  926. >> Come on.

  927. >> They brought the people back. They

  928. brought the performance back. They

  929. brought the music back. They brought the

  930. sermons back. But somewhere along the

  931. way,

  932. >> Yes.

  933. >> they forgot the scriptures.

  934. >> Right.

  935. >> Look what he says. What shall we say?

  936. The problem is Ezra had no answer.

  937. EZRA'S JUST SAID, "GOD, YOU'VE GIVEN US

  938. ALL THIS AND BUT LORD, I have nothing to

  939. say because we've taken it and spurned

  940. it away."

  941. >> Good.

  942. >> You think about what we've been

  943. entrusted with, church.

  944. >> Come on.

  945. >> We have We live in the greatest time in

  946. history.

  947. >> You're right.

  948. >> And yet there's empty pews. Amen.

  949. >> This morning,

  950. >> come on.

  951. The problem was there was no answer.

  952. There was no apprehension.

  953. They forsaken the commandments. The

  954. command was given in verses 11 12 that

  955. they should not take wives, the women of

  956. the land. I'm going to preach on that

  957. tonight. Look at chapter 10. Consider

  958. another thought out of this text. The

  959. compassion of God is seen in verse 13.

  960. And after all that has come upon us for

  961. our evil deeds and for our great

  962. trespass, seeing that thou our God has

  963. punished us less than our iniquities

  964. deserve.

  965. >> You're right.

  966. >> You just think about that for a minute.

  967. >> Yes.

  968. >> We ought to be in hell, friend.

  969. >> Amen.

  970. >> Right.

  971. >> We ought to be there eternally.

  972. >> Yes.

  973. >> I'm talking about presently and for

  974. eternity,

  975. >> right?

  976. >> Because that's what we deserve.

  977. >> And Ezra says this. He says, "Even after

  978. all that's come upon us for our evil

  979. deeds, after all that we did wrong and

  980. all that we suffered through because of

  981. our sin, here we are." He says, "And

  982. that y'all, Lord has not punished us.

  983. You punished us less than our iniquities

  984. deserve you given us deliverance such as

  985. this." In verse 14, he reveals the

  986. corruption of man. He says, "Should we

  987. again break thy commandments after all

  988. we've been through

  989. >> and after all he's done?"

  990. >> Come on.

  991. That's right.

  992. >> After all the suffering

  993. >> that you and I have had to face because

  994. of sin.

  995. >> You're right.

  996. >> And after all the blessing,

  997. >> come on.

  998. >> How good God's been to us.

  999. >> Yes, he has.

1000. >> Yet, we would choose to go back to the

  1001. same sin.

  1002. >> You're right.

1003. >> That brought us to suffer in the first

  1004. place.

1005. Ezra looks at God in his prayer and he

1006. says, "Should we again break thy

1007. commandments and enjoin an infinity with

1008. an affinity with the people of these

1009. abominations? Would us not thou be anger

1010. thus till thou hast consumed us so that

1011. there should be no remnant nor

  1012. escaping."

  1013. >> You're right.

1014. >> What did he just tell him? HE SAID HE'S

1015. LEFT US A remnant that escaped. But now

  1016. he's saying, "Lord, I don't know if

1017. you'll let us go or not." It's good.

1018. >> You know, the thing that scares me the

1019. most, and I'm being I'm being real

1020. candid this morning, and y'all forgive

1021. me for that, but the thing that scares

1022. me the most is that this church could

  1023. never have revival again.

  1024. >> Come on.

1025. >> Because there's sin that you will refuse

  1026. to deal with.

1027. >> Amen. And Ezra says, "Lord, I don't know

1028. if you're going to allow us another

  1029. chance."

1030. Look what he says. Would us not thou be

1031. angry with us till thou hast consumed us

1032. so that there should be no remnant nor

  1033. escaping?

1034. What is it? If my generation and the

1035. generation to come after me has no

1036. desire to follow God and my ministry is

1037. just simply this, burying the faithful

1038. saints of God to a generation that will

  1039. not follow.

  1040. >> Good.

1041. You see who's here this morning?

1042. Let me ask you a question this morning,

1043. young people. When they're gone, are you

  1044. going to be here?

  1045. >> Amen.

1046. What wind's going to take you out?

  1047. >> Yes.

1048. >> What sin's going to take you away?

  1049. >> Bless.

1050. >> What pride are you going to let hinder

1051. you? I'm saying it was because THEY THEY

1052. HAD JOINED UP WITH THE WORLD AND

1053. SEPARATION OTHER THAN SALVATION. I TOLD

1054. my daddy this last night. I said,

1055. "People in the church WORLD TODAY, THEY

1056. DO NOT BELIEVE in separation. They

1057. refuse to believe it. BUT SEPARATION IS

1058. AS BIG A BIBLE doctrine as salvation

  1059. is."

1060. >> Right. Paul said it this way to the

1061. Corinthian church. He said, "Wherefore

1062. come out from among them, AND BE YOU

1063. SEPARATE, sayeth the Lord, and touch not

1064. the UNCLEAN THING, AND I WILL RECEIVE

1065. YOU, AND YE SHALL BE MY SONS AND MY

1066. DAUGHTERS, SAYAETH THE LORD." THE REASON

1067. WHY YOU DON'T KNOW IF YOU'RE SAVED OR

1068. NOT, IS BECAUSE YOU WON'T LET LOOSE OF

  1069. THE WORLD.

  1070. >> YOU'RE RIGHT.

  1071. >> IT'S NOT BECAUSE YOU'RE NOT SAVED, BUT

1072. IT'S JUST BECAUSE YOU TRYING TO HAVE ONE

1073. FOOT IN AND ONE FOOT OUT, AND IT DON'T

  1074. WORK THAT WAY.

  1075. >> You're right.

1076. You cannot live in sin AND PRAY. YOU

1077. CANNOT LIVE IN SIN AND WORSHIP. YOU

1078. CANNOT LIVE IN SIN AND ENJOY THE

1079. BLESSING OF KNOWING GOD. YOU WILL NOT DO

  1080. IT.

  1081. >> You're right.

1082. >> And Ezra says this in verse 15, his

1083. consideration. He reveals the command,

1084. the compassion of God. God is merciful,

1085. but God is not obligated to deal with us

1086. in mercy forever. And he deals with the

1087. corruption of man. But know the

1088. consideration of Ezra in verse 15.

1089. Oh Lord God of Israel, thou art

  1090. righteous.

  1091. >> Yes, he is.

1092. >> Hey friend, I want to tell you this this

1093. morning. If everybody else in this world

1094. and everybody else in this church gives

1095. up, including myself, he's still right.

  1096. >> Amen.

  1097. >> HE'S STILL HOLY. HE'S STILL RIGHTEOUS.

1098. HE WILL FOREVER BE THE STANDARD OF ALL

1099. GOODNESS. AND WHEN WE'RE ALL DEAD AND

1100. GONE, HE'LL STILL HAVE SOMEBODY

1101. SOMEWHERE PREACHING THE GOSPEL BECAUSE

1102. HIS PLAN IS NOT DONE UNTIL HE GETS DONE.

1103. >> And Ezra says, "Lord, thou art

1104. righteous." Look what he says. For we

  1105. remain yet escaped.

  1106. >> Yes,

1107. >> God. I know you've given us the space of

  1108. grace.

  1109. >> Come on.

1110. >> We remain yet escaped. You've not took

1111. us back yet. But look what he says.

1112. We remain yet as it escaped as it is

1113. this day. Behold, we are before thee in

  1114. our trespasses.

1115. >> Ezra looked at that looked at that crowd

  1116. and saw the mess

1117. >> and he looked at God and said, "Lord, I

  1118. don't know.

1119. I know that we we've escaped right now,

  1120. but Lord, I don't know if you're going

1121. to be merciful to us another day,

  1122. >> right?

1123. >> But Lord, we're in your hand."

  1124. >> Yeah.

1125. Look what he says. For we cannot stand

1126. before thee because of this.

  1127. >> You're right.

1128. >> You know what? I long for the day when

  1129. people will get broken

  1130. >> over their sin.

  1131. >> You're right.

1132. >> I long for the day when tears will wet

  1133. the altars.

  1134. >> Yes.

1135. >> Of churches across this country because

1136. the children of God will get broke

  1137. >> over their sin.

1138. And this text is to those who are saved.

  1139. >> Yes,

1140. >> I've preached it to the lost this

1141. morning, but the truth is it's to those

1142. who are saved. And what this comes down

1143. to is this. If you ever want to see God

1144. do anything in your life

1145. >> or in this church,

1146. you're going to have to quit sinning

  1147. against God.

  1148. >> You're right.

1149. >> Cuz you know what he's done? You got

1150. breath in your lungs and you're in the

1151. house of God this morning. He's given

1152. you a space of grace.

1153. >> Amen. And some of you right now, you're

1154. already thinking in your mind.

  1155. >> Come on.

1156. >> You've already got plans for this week

  1157. that are unholy.

  1158. >> Come on.

1159. >> And that are unrighteous. You say,

1160. "Preacher, well, my thoughts aren't

  1161. sinful." No, sir.

1162. Your thoughts are the most sinful part

  1163. of you.

  1164. >> You're right.

1165. >> Sin is anything that I think, say, or do

  1166. that displeases God.

  1167. >> Yes.

1168. >> And while you're sitting in the space of

1169. grace, you're sinning against God.

  1170. You're right.

1171. >> You say, "Preacher, what does it mean to

1172. sin against God in the space of grace?"

1173. Well, number one, you're sinning against

  1174. Christ.

  1175. >> Amen.

  1176. >> That's who our sin's against.

  1177. >> Yeah.

1178. >> It's against him. David said, "Against

1179. thee and thee only have I sinned, done

1180. this evil in thy sight." But I'll say

1181. this, by sinning against Christ, you're

  1182. shaming the church.

  1183. >> You're right.

  1184. >> You're shaming the church. Say,

1185. "Preacher, what do you mean?" Well, if

1186. you say you're a member of this church

1187. and you're living in sin, you know what

  1188. you're doing? You're shaming

1189. >> You're right. the house of God.

  1190. >> Come on.

  1191. >> You're misrepresenting what we are.

  1192. >> You're right.

1193. >> Look, I'm nothing, friend. But this

  1194. church is God's church.

  1195. >> Amen.

1196. >> This church is the bride of Christ.

  1197. >> You're right.

1198. >> And one of these days, we're going to be

1199. robed in fine linen clean and white.

  1200. >> Amen.

1201. >> And if you are living in sin and you say

1202. you go to this church, you are shaming

  1203. >> Yeah.

  1204. >> the church.

  1205. >> You're right.

1206. >> You are shaming the church. But here's

1207. what you don't think about. All right?

  1208. You're sinning against Christ. You're

1209. shaming the church. You say, "Preacher,

1210. I know I'm doing all of that and I

1211. really just don't care." You know what?

  1212. You probably lost.

  1213. >> Amen.

1214. >> Let me say this.

1215. You're showing your own condition.

  1216. >> You're right.

1217. >> When you walk and sin against God in the

  1218. space of grace,

1219. you are sinning against Christ. You are

1220. shaming the church, but you are showing

  1221. your own corruption.

  1222. >> Right?

1223. >> And Ezra looked at these men and he

1224. thought to himself, "Lord, I don't know

1225. if you're going to have mercy on us or

1226. not. Time and time and time again,

1227. he's preached. Other men had preached."

  1228. >> Yes.

1229. >> Deliverance would come. They would sin.

1230. They would go back into bondage.

1231. >> You're right. And you know what the

  1232. truth is?

1233. Some years after this, in the book of

  1234. Nehemiah, it happens again.

1235. Nehemiah 13:14, there were men

    Nehemiah 13:14

1236. that were of the priests that married

1237. wives, married wives of Ashdod, and they

1238. have children that were half Ashdon and

  1239. half Israelites. You're

  1240. >> right.

  1241. >> And they couldn't talk plain

1242. >> because they they tried to talk in the

1243. language of Ashdod. And then some tried

1244. to talk in the language of Israel.

1245. And you know what it came from?

1246. Refusing to separate from the world.

  1247. You're

  1248. >> right.

1249. >> Refusing to say, "I've got to turn away

1250. from that. I've got to say no to that."

1251. Here's what we need this morning. We

1252. need some people who get broke.

  1253. >> Amen.

  1254. >> Over their sin.

1255. I mean, I'm talking about broke to where

1256. you weep on an altar until you forget

  1257. what time it is.

1258. >> You're right. till you forget when the

1259. last time you ate was or even where

  1260. you're at.

  1261. >> Yes.

1262. >> Because all that you can see is the

  1263. vastness of your sin.

1264. >> You say, "Preacher, well, I'm supposed

1265. to see the Savior." Until you see your

1266. sin, right, you'll never see the Savior

  1267. back.

  1268. >> Right?

  1269. The reason why

1270. feels like you're dangling out over hell

1271. every service as a child of God saved is

1272. because that's you are choosing

  1273. >> come on

1274. >> to bring judgment upon yourself.

  1275. >> You're right.

  1276. >> You say, "Preacher, but I can't face

1277. judgment." But no, you're choosing to

  1278. fill that consequence.

  1279. >> Yes.

1280. The closest thing you can do as a child

1281. of God to being lost and going to hell

1282. is to sin against God and spit in his

1283. face and him take you out.

  1284. >> You're right.

1285. >> You say, "Preacher, well, I'm going to

1286. heaven." But I said it this morning in

1287. Sunday school. Paul said it this way. He

1288. said, "Shall we continue in sin that

  1289. grace may abound?"

  1290. >> God forbid.

  1291. >> You're right.

1292. >> Let me ask you, you going to sin against

1293. God in the space of grace?

1294. Every head bowed and every eye closed.

1295. Hey, child of God, you're in sin right

1296. now. You know you are.

  1297. Your sin grieves God.

1298. You think you're all right. You think

1299. you're okay. But you know what? You

  1300. might be hindering

1301. the work of God from ever going forward

  1302. in this church.

1303. Jesus told those churches and of Asia

1304. Minor in the book of Revelation, he

1305. said, "If you refuse to obey my

  1306. commandments, I'll remove your

  1307. candlestick.

  1308. He remove his presence

  1309. from our midst."

1310. And Ezra looked at those men and he

1311. looked to God and said, 'Lord, you've

1312. been merciful to us so many times.

  1313. I just don't know that you'll do it

1314. again because our sin's so great.

1315. Let me ask you something. When's the

1316. last time your sin grieved you that

  1317. much?

1318. If your sin don't grieve you, if you can

  1319. go on living

1320. the way that you are, and you know

  1321. you're wrong, you know you're wrong.

  1322. Live that party life.

1323. There may come a day when you have don't

  1324. have another chance.

1325. I'm thankful that for Israel there was

  1326. another opportunity.

1327. We're going to look at that tonight.

1328. But I'll say this, the space of grace is

1329. going to end one of these days.

1330. But for us children of God, hear me,

1331. hear me, church this morning. And for us

1332. children of God, we've got a nail in the

  1333. holy place.

1334. God's given us his people. You see, the

1335. reason why we're to forsake not the

1336. assembly of ourselves together is

1337. because you can't come out from the

1338. world and forsake the assembly.

1339. If you come out from the world, you're

1340. going to have to have somewhere to go.

1341. You can get with God's people.

1342. Come out from the world from among them

1343. and be you separate, sayeth the Lord,

1344. and touch not the unclean thing. But the

1345. writer of Hebrews said, he said this. He

1346. said, 'You to not forsake the assembling

1347. of yourselves together as the manner of

  1348. some is.

1349. He said, "But exhorting one another, and

1350. so much the more as you see the day

1351. approaching, you may not ever have

1352. another chance to make it right." If

1353. you've got a in your heart against your

1354. brother, your sister, you need to make

  1355. it right today.

  1356. If you've got a problem

1357. of sin in your life,

1358. you might die with that thing if you

1359. don't make it right today.

1360. Let me say this to you this morning,

1361. sinner. The truth is in your life,

1362. you've been given a space of grace to

1363. repent. And if you refuse that, that

1364. grace will come come to an end in your

  1365. life.

1366. You won't have heaven to gain.

1367. You'll have an eternity in hell to

  1368. grieve,

1369. to weep, and to whail.

1370. Let me ask you this morning.

  1371. Say, "Preacher, I don't know that I'm

  1372. saved."

  1373. "Preacher, I don't know that I'm saved."

1374. There's nobody looking around but me. I

1375. want you to slip your hand up. Preacher,

  1376. I don't know that I'm saved. Would you

  1377. pray for me?

  1378. Preacher, I'm not saved.

1379. I'm going to be real bold what I'm

1380. fixing to say this morning, but it's the

1381. truth. Hey, some of y'all's raised your

  1382. hands before

1383. and you ain't raising them no more.

1384. And I can tell by the way you're living

1385. that you ain't got nothing.

1386. You say, "Preacher, how dare you say

1387. that? Only God knows my heart." Well,

1388. the Bible says that by you by by their

1389. works you shall know them.

1390. Let me ask you one more time. Say,

  1391. "Preacher,

1392. I'm not saved." There's people on this

1393. altar praying for you. Preacher, I'm not

1394. saved. You pray for me.

  1395. You'd be honest.

1396. Let me ask you this, preacher.

1397. You say, "Preacher, I I'm living in

  1398. sin."

  1399. Preacher, I know I am. I'm not right

1400. with God. Preacher, would you pray for

  1401. me?

  1402. God sees that.

1403. Someone else, be honest with God. Slip

1404. your hand up and hold it. I want to pray

1405. for you. Preacher, I'm living in sin.

1406. fixing to be real bold again, but I got

1407. to be right. I got to stay right with

1408. the Lord on this, okay? I got to I got

1409. to be honest with you. Some of you by

1410. your life, by your testimony, you're

  1411. living in sin

  1412. presently.

  1413. Presently,

1414. you may not ever have another

1415. opportunity to make it right.

1416. Say, "Preacher, how do you know that?"

1417. Well, it seems like in this day and

1418. time, everybody's just so proud of their

1419. life, they got to put it all over the

  1420. internet.

1421. I'll be honest with you, pastors used to

1422. have to work wonder about their church

1423. members, but you don't have to in this

  1424. day and time.

1425. I'll tell you with a broken heart, just

1426. like Ezra told God and looked at all

  1427. those people,

1428. I don't know if we can have revival.

1429. If you are so set on living in your sin,

1430. preacher, won't be long it'll all be

1431. right. I'll have it all fixed. Well, you

1432. might not ever make it there.

1433. Say, "Preacher, why are you going to

1434. such length in this invitation?" Cuz

1435. like Ezra, I'm grieved by sin. I can

1436. promise you I prayed about it a whole

1437. lot longer than I preached to you this

  1438. morning.

1439. Father, I pray in Jesus name,

1440. Lord, for whatever sin is present in

1441. this building that I pray you deal with

  1442. hearts.

  1443. that I pray

  1444. please

1445. Lord have mercy on us

  1446. Lord the church we're a mess

  1447. Lord we're in such a mess

1448. and God if you don't help us and people

  1449. don't get right with you Lord I don't

  1450. know

1451. what we feel here will last

1452. cuz Lord it's the nature of sin and to

1453. plunge the soul deeper and deeper

  1454. into depravity and destruction.

1455. And God, I pray humbly,

1456. Lord, please, would you be longsuffering

  1457. with us?

1458. And please, God, would you keep the

  1459. nail?

1460. Lord, would you let us keep the nail at

  1461. Meadows Baptist Church?

  1462. >> Yes.

  1463. >> Keep a stable

1464. hanging nail in the holy place. Cuz

1465. Lord, I can't control what people do.

1466. Lord, I can't control what you do, but

1467. Lord, I can control what I do.

  1468. >> Amen.

1469. >> And God, I pray you'd help every heart

1470. in here to make that resolve, that

  1471. decision today,

1472. to be obedient to you, Lord, that they

1473. wouldn't sin against you in the space of

  1474. grace.

1475. Lord, I love you, Lord. Please don't let

1476. anybody leave here lost today. Please

1477. don't let anybody leave here out of the

1478. will of God today. We ask it in Jesus'

  1479. name.

  1480. Amen.

  1481. A

1482. >> Thank you for joining our service today.

1483. We'd love it if you join us in person

1484. the next time you are able at Meadows

1485. Baptist Church. Our physical address is
