  7. Pastor Charlie Branch with a word from

  8. God.

  9. I want to look at one verse tonight, two

  10. verses if the Lord help us for just a

  11. moment of time and consider a thought

  12. here this evening. And uh the

  13. opposition, I want to tell you this, the

  14. opposition to the church in this day and

  15. time, I believe, is at an all-time high.

  16. And the devil does not want this thing

  17. going forward. And uh the quicker we

  18. realize that, the better off we'll be.

  19. And uh it's time to prepare ourselves.

  20. Amen. and to get ourselves ready and to

  21. go forward for the glory of God in these

  22. days. And if you're not going forward,

  23. amen, you're going backward. Amen. And

  24. we need God to help us.

  25. >> And uh it's going to take strength. It's

  26. going to take training and a

  27. willingness, amen, to serve. I want to

  28. look tonight here in uh the text 1

    1 Corinthians 16:13

  29. Corinthians 16 verse 13 and 14. 1

    1 Corinthians 16:13

  30. Corinthians 16 verse 13 and 14.

  31. And uh I'll be honest with you, I've

  32. kind of been a little bit out of my

  33. comfort zone the last several uh weeks,

  34. just not really having a specific place

  35. to go to. I generally don't like to

  36. teach or preach off the cuff in

  37. different uh meetings. I'm I've studied

  38. not when I say off the cuff, I mean just

  39. different text every service. And I feel

  40. like sometimes I'm just cherrypicking

  41. things that I want to say, but that's

  42. not the truth. I'm just trying to tell

  43. you what the Lord's told me and uh where

  44. he's led me to. And I want to look here

  45. at this thought tonight in these verses.

  46. Notice verse 13. And uh Lord willing,

  47. we'll get started back in a series here

  48. uh directly. And so you uh Sherman can

  49. be annoyed at me for preaching in the

  50. same book every week for 6 months or a

  51. year. And uh he fussed me. He's the

  52. first person when I came to this church.

  53. He said, "Now you can't just bore us to

  54. death with series all the time now. You

  55. got to change it up a little bit." And

  56. uh I got to pick on you, brother. You

  57. got to mess with you a little bit. But

  58. uh I appreciate you. Amen. and our

  59. faithful door greeter. Somebody say,

  60. "Amen."

  61. >> 1 Corinthians 16:13,

    1 Corinthians 16:13

  62. the Bible says, "Watch ye stand fast in

  63. the faith. Quit ye like men. Be strong.

  64. Let all your things be done with

  65. charity." Notice verse 15 and 16.

  66. Tonight, we'll not preach on these, but

  67. just notice the verse there. The Bible

  68. says, "I beseech you, brethren, you know

  69. the house of Stephanus, that it is the

  70. first fruits of Aaya, and that they have

  71. addicted themselves to the ministry of

  72. the saints, that you submit yourselves

  73. unto such, and to everyone that helpketh

  74. with us, and labor." I love that wording

  75. in verse number 15. I'm not going to

  76. preach there tonight, but boy, I could.

  77. If you're addicted to anything, what are

  78. you addicted to tonight?

  79. Bible says that the house of Stephanus

  80. was addicted to the ministry of the

  81. saints, taking care of God's people. And

  82. uh I can tell you what, there's nothing

  83. more rewarding in this life than that

  84. right there. And uh you say, "Preacher,

  85. well, how is that?" Well, James chapter

    James 1 chapter mention

  86. 1, the last verse says, "Pure pure

  87. religion and undefiled before God and

  88. the father is this, to look on the

  89. widows in their affliction and to keep

  90. himself unspotted from the world."

  91. taking care of the people of God. That's

  92. the highest calling.

  93. >> Amen.

  94. >> Amen. And uh if you love if you love the

  95. church, Amen. It's a good sign you love

  96. Christ. Amen. I want to look at this

  97. thought here tonight. Consider in verse

  98. number 13 and 14. And uh really there's

  99. a this is a closing admonition, I guess

  100. you would say, of the Apostle Paul here

  101. uh to the Corinthian church in his first

  102. letter. And uh I notice in this tonight

  103. just considering by in the chapter

  104. leading up to this point I note there's

  105. some things that he's dealing with. I

  106. love the ending of the epistles because

  107. a lot of times um the chap the last

  108. chapters of these epistles are the etc

  109. chapters of the Bible. And what I mean

  110. by that is is Paul is just dealing with

  111. miscellaneous topics in every verse.

  112. It's a different subject. And uh I was

  113. thinking about you look at the book of

  114. Thessalonians 1 Thessalonians 5. He

  115. deals with a lot of different subjects

  116. uh in that chapter and much the same in

  117. this one. I want to point out uh these

  118. two tonight. But I notice here in this

  119. chapter concerning the leading up to

  120. this there he begins with the membership

  121. of the church and their giving in verses

  122. one down through verse number seven.

  123. He's talking about the church at

  124. Corenth. And he says in verse one now

  125. concerning the collection for the saints

  126. as I have given order to the churches of

  127. Galatia. Even so do ye upon the first

  128. day of the week. Let every one of you

  129. lay by him in store as God hath

  130. prospered him that there be no

  131. gatherings when I come. And so he has

  132. orchestrated here the principle of

  133. giving in the house of God uh to take

  134. care of the church and its needs as well

  135. as the people of the church and its

  136. needs. Those uh people that do not have

  137. uh to take care of themselves. And so he

  138. deals with that all the way down through

  139. uh verse number seven. his desire to

  140. come and see them uh to spend some time

  141. with them. And to the best of my

  142. knowledge, Paul never made it to Corinth

  143. to see these people according to

  144. scripture. Now, I may be wrong about

  145. that, but that's what I've discovered uh

  146. from my study. And so, he writes these

  147. letters unto them. And so, you notice

  148. not only he deals with the membership uh

  149. and their giving in this chapter, but he

  150. also deals with the ministry. And in

  151. this ministry that's been given to him,

  152. he deals with this great door. Notice

  153. that in verse number eight and n he

  154. says, "But I will tarry at Ephesus until

  155. Pentecost." And notice verse 9. He says,

  156. "For a great door and effectual is open

  157. unto me, and there are many

  158. adversaries." And uh this verse gives me

  159. comfort many days in my life because the

  160. truth is the greatest doors come with

  161. the greatest adversaries.

  162. >> The greatest opportunities come with the

  163. greatest opposition. It's a fact

  164. tonight. It's a fact of the word of God.

  165. Where the most effectual work is taking

  166. place, there is going to be the greatest

  167. desire of the enemy to hinder the work

  168. of God. But Paul said, "I'm going to

  169. stay at Ephesus until Pentecost because

  170. there's an open door." And I'll say

  171. this, where God's given you an open

  172. door, you ought to stay there until he

  173. closes it. Amen. And then you move on

  174. again after that. So I notice not only

  175. the membership and the ministry, but

  176. then he mentions the men here in the

  177. text. Verse number 10 through 12.

  178. There's the men and the gospel. Here you

  179. notice verse 10. The Bible says, "Now if

  180. Timoth has come, see that he may be with

  181. you without fear, for he workketh the

  182. work of the Lord as I also do." And so

  183. he here is vindicating Timothy to the

  184. Corinthian church. He is he is possibly

  185. going to come by. And he's telling the

  186. church, all right, if he comes by, you

  187. receive him because uh you don't despise

  188. him because of his age. That's why he

  189. told Timothy in his epistle, he said,

  190. "Let no man despise thy youth, but be

  191. thou an example of the believers." And

  192. he's telling this church, he said,

  193. "Look, he's coming and you need to

  194. receive him gladly." Notice that. He

  195. said, "See that he may be with you

  196. without fear." He's timid. Amen. But

  197. he's doing the work of God. Notice that

  198. in verse 10. For he worketh the work of

  199. the Lord as I also do. And so Paul

  200. vindicates the ministry of Timothy. And

  201. he says further in verse 11, "Let no man

  202. therefore despise him, but conduct him

  203. forth in peace that he may come unto me,

  204. for I look for him with the brethren."

  205. And so they were to receive him in peace

  206. and allow him to minister unto them as

  207. the Apostle Paul ministered to them in

  208. these writings. But they were also to

  209. send him forth in peace that he might

  210. come unto Paul again as well. And so he

  211. mentions Timothy in verses 10 and 11.

  212. Then he mentions Apollos in verse 12. He

  213. says, "As touching our brother Apollos,

  214. I greatly desired to him to come unto

  215. you with the brethren, but his will was

  216. not at all to come at this time, but he

  217. will come when he shall have convenient

  218. time." And so Paul here addresses the

  219. the the thought, the hearing that they

  220. had had that uh Paulus was going to come

  221. unto them, said he's not quite ready at

  222. this time. And I find it interesting

  223. that the subject matter literally just

  224. changes completely 180 degrees into

  225. verse 13. He's given them all of this

  226. information about everything that's

  227. going on at the church and he just drops

  228. this bomb of truth right in the middle

  229. of this letter. And I love that. You

  230. know what? That's what we need

  231. sometimes, ain't it?

  232. >> Right.

  233. >> We need a bomb of truth to just blow up

  234. all of our plans, ideas, and thoughts.

  235. Amen. I think it helps us. Amen. And I

  236. noticed that. Notice verse 13. He

  237. begins, "Watch ye stand fast in the

  238. faith. Quit ye like men. Be strong. Let

  239. all your things be done with charity."

  240. And what I find interesting about this

  241. subject here in the middle of this

  242. number one, I would say that these two

  243. verses are the central point. Now,

  244. they're the central point of the

  245. chapter. This chapter has 24 verses.

  246. here in verse 13 and 14, right in the

  247. middle of this chapter. Paul gives this

  248. admonition. But I'll say this, not only

  249. it's central in the chapter as we read

  250. it physically, but it's central in the

  251. context of this this scripture. You

  252. think about this. Everything that Paul

  253. is telling them in this chapter

  254. surrounding these two verses is leading

  255. off of these verses. He is talking to

  256. them not only uh it's not only

  257. picturesque uh central in the chapter

  258. and in the context but it's also what he

  259. what he's dealing with here is what

  260. should be central in their character.

  261. These principles in verse 13 and 14 is

  262. the focus of the Christian.

  263. >> Amen.

  264. >> And I notice not only that it's central,

  265. it's central here in the chapter in the

  266. context of what he's dealing with that

  267. everything in this chapter is founded

  268. upon this. But it and it should be

  269. central in our character. He wanted it

  270. to be central in their character. But

  271. also note that it's a command. Notice in

  272. verse 13, you don't see any suggestion.

  273. You don't see any question. There's not

  274. a a exhortation to try. Amen. The Bible

  275. doesn't say try to be holy.

  276. >> It says be holy. Amen. The Bible does

  277. not say try to be righteous or try to be

  278. Amen. Try to follow the Lord. But it

  279. tells us that we are to do it. Amen.

  280. Right?

  281. >> You say, "Well, how is that? I'm just

  282. trying to serve God." Well, the thing

  283. about it is you either are or you're

  284. not.

  285. >> Right?

  286. >> Amen. That's what it comes down to

  287. tonight. And in this, this is a command.

  288. You see, Paul's not asking for an

  289. attempt. And when I preach to you, I'm

  290. not asking for an attempt for you to do

  291. right. Amen.

  292. >> I'm not asking for an attempt, but what

  293. I am preaching for, and what the Holy

  294. Ghost is calling for is apprehension of

  295. truth. Amen.

  296. >> And not only apprehension, but

  297. application of that truth. You're right.

  298. >> Amen. If you receive truth, Amen. If you

  299. apprehend it, you take hold of it, it's

  300. only going to be right that you're going

  301. to apply it. You're

  302. >> right.

  303. >> Amen. It's like hooking a plow to a

  304. tractor, amen, and sitting there and

  305. looking at it. Amen. And never doing

  306. anything with it.

  307. >> It ain't going to do any good. It can be

  308. hooked to the tractor from now on, but

  309. until you let it in the ground, Amen.

  310. >> Well, I had the intention of doing that.

  311. Well, intentions don't get anything

  312. done. Amen.

  313. >> Amen. That's right. And so I notice here

  314. it's a command. He's not asking for an

  315. attempt, but he's asking for them to

  316. apprehend this truth and to apply these

  317. principles. And I notice this thirdly,

  318. and I'll give you the thought tonight. I

  319. see it's not only central, it's a

  320. command, but I see it is Christ. And you

  321. say, "What do you mean by that?" Well,

  322. verse 13 and 14 literally are the

  323. embodiment of everything that Christ is

  324. and everything that Christ did. He

  325. exemplified these principles in every

  326. part of his life. If anybody was aware,

  327. Christ was aware. If anybody was firm,

  328. Christ was firm. If anybody was a man,

  329. Amen. Christ was a man.

  330. >> If anybody had strength, Christ was full

  331. of strength and he possessed all

  332. strength. Amen. And if anybody has ever

  333. loved anybody, Christ loved everybody.

  334. >> And so these principles are Jesus

  335. tonight. And so I want to give you this

  336. tonight concerning this admonition here

  337. in the text. Paul's last admonition, I I

  338. pinned this in my notes earlier today.

  339. Paul's last admonition in these two

  340. verses is sufficient instruction for

  341. total success in the church of God.

  342. >> If you obey what's in those two verses,

  343. you can have total and complete success

  344. in your Christian life. I'm convinced

  345. the further I go along, which ain't very

  346. far, but I'm getting further every day.

  347. Somebody say amen. I'm convinced the

  348. further I go along, the Christian life

  349. really is simple.

  350. >> Amen.

  351. >> It's hearing truth and heeding truth.

  352. >> Amen. It's receiving it and obeying it.

  353. >> The problem is, amen, we don't have a

  354. problem receiving it many times, but we

  355. have a problem with obedience,

  356. >> right?

  357. >> And so, notice this. I want to give you

  358. these five principles here in our text

  359. tonight. Verse 13 and 14. And I could

  360. deal on down to verse number 16. Really,

  361. I believe in the context it goes all the

  362. way to verse 16. But I want to deal with

  363. just these two tonight for sake of time.

  364. Notice number one tonight with me

  365. concerning this admonition here uh Paul

  366. gives to the church. There's number one,

  367. there's a patient perception that's

  368. mentioned in verse 13. He says, "Watch

  369. ye." Now, when you think about this

  370. statement tonight, what Paul is

  371. literally applying this to, he is using

  372. it in the masculine sense. We notice

  373. that in the verse when he uses the

  374. phrase quit you like me, but he's also

  375. not only using it in the masculine

  376. sense, but he's also you using it in the

  377. sense of a warrior that is going to a

  378. battle. It's much the same principle

  379. that he uses in the book of Ephesians

  380. when he talks about the armor of God.

  381. And it's the same expression that he

  382. would share with us that we are warriors

  383. that are in a battle. Amen. We fight a

  384. battle every day of our life whether you

  385. like it or not. We don't like to admit

  386. that. Amen. But the moment that you wake

  387. up in the morning until the time that

  388. you lay your head on the pillow at

  389. night, and I'll be honest with you, I've

  390. come to find it here lately, even

  391. sometimes in between that time, there's

  392. a battle that we're facing around the

  393. clock. We are in a battle. And so the

  394. first admonition he gives is that there

  395. is to be patient perception. Now what

  396. does that mean? Well, that word watch

  397. there, the phrase watch means this. It

  398. means to keep awake or to be vigilant.

  399. And Matthew Henry said this, and I like

  400. what he said. He said, "The Christian is

  401. in constant danger." Constant. It does

  402. not stop. You You say, "Preacher, well,

  403. I thought when I got saved that all of

  404. that was supposed to subside." Well, I

  405. wish it was that way. Amen. But the

  406. enemy is constantly raged. Now, the

  407. constant danger, it comes from different

  408. places in our life. There's, you know,

  409. we we think of the big three, sin, self,

  410. and Satan. But I'll be honest with you,

  411. a lot of times it's all three at the

  412. same time,

  413. >> right?

  414. >> Amen. The devil is pushing on our self,

  415. and our self is pushing on us to sin.

  416. And so, because of that, we are in

  417. danger. And all three of those are

  418. present at the hardest moments of our

  419. tenure on this earth. You understand

  420. that every day of our life, we are faced

  421. with something. And often times it's

  422. new,

  423. >> right?

  424. >> And and here's the thing about it now.

  425. The tactics are old,

  426. >> but the temptations are new every time.

  427. >> Just like God's mercies are new, the

  428. devil's temptations

  429. are new every day.

  430. If you get victory in one place, you

  431. just better watch out because the moment

  432. you turn away from that and say, "Thank

  433. you, Lord, for giving me victory there,"

  434. you're going to walk right into

  435. something else.

  436. >> Amen. You're going to come headlong with

  437. something else. And the admonition is

  438. here to watch. Now, what are we watching

  439. for? I would there's many things tonight

  440. that we could we could say, you know, we

  441. we look at those those three truths

  442. there, sin, self, and Satan. So,

  443. basically, we're to watch ourselves and

  444. the influence of sin in our lives. But

  445. it goes much further than that. In

  446. scripture, the Bible commands us. Jesus

  447. told us in Matthew chapter number 24 and

  448. verse number 42, he said, "Watch ye, for

  449. you know neither the day nor the hour

  450. where the son of man cometh.

  451. >> You don't know when the Lord's coming

  452. back. He could be here at any moment in

  453. time." And the truth is that's the

  454. biggest event of him that we're waiting

  455. on.

  456. >> Amen. And so in the moment when we're

  457. watching oursel and we're watching sin

  458. in our life, trying to keep it out and

  459. we're trying to guard ourselves from the

  460. influence of Satan all that time, we're

  461. to be giving credence and watching unto

  462. the coming of Jesus.

  463. >> Right?

  464. >> We got to be open eyes, don't we?

  465. >> Amen.

  466. >> He told us to watch because he's coming.

  467. But he also told us told those disciples

  468. in chapter 26 in verse number 42 he said

  469. watch and pray lest you enter into

  470. temptation. Why is that? The spirit

  471. indeed is willing but the flesh is weak.

  472. You see there's a watching unto eternity

  473. but there's also a watching that's

  474. present. We're watching for a moment

  475. that's that's to come. We're not expect

  476. not to expect it at any moment per se in

  477. the sense of uh you know we don't know

  478. when the Lord's coming but we're also to

  479. expect it at any moment. You're right.

  480. >> You know what I'm saying tonight? To be

  481. ready always.

  482. >> I'll say this tonight. In the broader

  483. sense, we're to be watching over our

  484. family.

  485. >> Dads, we're to watch our children. Men,

  486. we're to watch the church. Christians,

  487. we're to watch other Christians. You

  488. say, "Preacher, well, I'm not supposed

  489. to keep my brother in check." Well, the

  490. Bible teaches us that,

  491. >> right? that we're to exhort one another,

  492. to encourage one another. And if we see

  493. a brother stumble, Paul said that we're

  494. to restore such a one in the spirit of

  495. meekness, considering yourself, lest you

  496. also be tempted. I'm saying Christianity

  497. is not a place for blind people.

  498. >> Amen. I'm not talking about physically.

  499. >> You're right.

  500. >> But what's our problem? We're a bunch of

  501. Christians walking around with glasses

  502. on. Amen.

  503. >> We need to be watching. I'm not knocking

  504. you if you got glasses on tonight. But I

  505. am knocking Tilly. Amen. It's messed

  506. with me. Amen. He come the other night.

  507. We had meeting over there at New Hope

  508. and I got up there and preached and he

  509. was sitting what? Two rows back. Two

  510. rows back. I preached the entire sermon

  511. and he was saying amen just like he

  512. always does.

  513. And I still didn't know it was him. All

  514. because of the glasses.

  515. And so I'm sorry, brother. I had to just

  516. throw that out there. But

  517. where was I at? Amen. I'll never recover

  518. from that, will I? Amen.

  519. >> Oh yeah. Perception. Amen. You need a

  520. clear perception. You see? See, here's

  521. the thing about it in this day and time.

  522. This is where we all most often fail.

  523. Because where distraction is, there is

  524. not clear perception. Where defilement

  525. is, there's not clear perception. Where

  526. division is, there is not clear

  527. perception. And the Bible teaches us,

  528. Peter said this way in first Peter

    1 Peter 5 chapter mention

  529. chapter 5 and verse number eight. What

  530. was his first admonition? He said, "Be

  531. sober,

  532. >> right?

  533. >> Be vigilant, for your adversary, the

  534. devil, is as a walking line is as a

  535. roaring lion walking about seeking whom

  536. he may devour." And if we are constantly

  537. filled and moved by something else, we

  538. are not watching

  539. >> for the enemy.

  540. >> So, there is a patient perception. I'll

  541. say this tonight. It's just like the

  542. hunter. If there's going to be a side of

  543. anything that we're going to to take in

  544. or if we're going to bag that game,

  545. amen, we're going to have to be patient

  546. in our perception.

  547. >> Right?

  548. >> The same way it is in battle. You think

  549. about the the enemy. You think about the

  550. war war and the sense of this world that

  551. we're acquainted with in this day and

  552. time. All the tools that men have in

  553. order to fight battles. You understand

  554. the Christian life. The Christian battle

  555. is the same way it's always been.

  556. We don't have scopes and long range

  557. missiles.

  558. >> Amen. We don't have all of the newness.

  559. Amen. It's still fought and still

  560. learned and still done the exact same

  561. way it's always been. You're

  562. >> right.

  563. >> It it requires steady attendance. And so

  564. there is patient perception here

  565. tonight. Notice second of all here in

  566. the text, not only patient perception,

  567. we're to be watchful, but there also is

  568. an admonition here of a permanent

  569. position. And look what he says in verse

  570. number 13. Watch ye stand fast

  571. in what?

  572. >> In the faith. You know, there's some

  573. things in our life that ought not

  574. change.

  575. >> Amen. There is some things that about

  576. who we are and what we believe that are

  577. non-negotiables.

  578. And I think where we've lost it in this

  579. church world today is we've adopted the

  580. mentality of the world that everything's

  581. debatable.

  582. >> Right.

  583. >> Well, there's just some things that's

  584. not up for debate tonight. Amen. There's

  585. there's ideas, Amen. And and our our

  586. world, Amen. I'm not going to harp on

  587. this very long, but they've tried to

  588. redefine marriage. Amen. And and bring a

  589. question where God put a period. Amen.

  590. But we know the truth tonight. That's

  591. settled.

  592. >> Amen. There's no if and buts about it.

  593. Amen. It's settled tonight. That is not

  594. arguable. But I'll tell you this,

  595. greater than anything else in this

  596. world, this truth ought to be settled to

  597. us. What does he say? He says that we

  598. are to stand fast in the faith. Well,

  599. that standing fast means to persevere.

  600. But persevere in our language gives us

  601. the idea of a person running a race. We

  602. think we got to persist and persevere

  603. until the end. But this truth goes

  604. beyond that. It's not talking about

  605. moving. But if you look at the

  606. definition of this word in its fullness,

  607. it means to stand still. Means to be

  608. stationary or to persist. And so when he

  609. says here in the text to stand fast,

  610. he's telling us there's some things that

  611. you're to stand firm on and stay still.

  612. >> Right?

  613. >> You know, we we get we get our mind

  614. crossed up sometimes talking about and

  615. I've even said this tonight that we're

  616. always to be moving forward, but that's

  617. not in progressivism. Amen.

  618. >> That's in sanctification is what that

  619. is. We're to be moving forward, getting

  620. more like Christ. Amen. I think a lot of

  621. people are moving forward and staying on

  622. the same level.

  623. >> You're right.

  624. >> Amen. The Christian life is like a

  625. staircase. If you're moving forward,

  626. you're going up. Somebody say amen.

  627. You're not going to be going forward and

  628. staying in the same place. But there is

  629. going to be an elevation. And so I'll

  630. say this tonight. He tells us to stand

  631. fast in the faith. What is that? That's

  632. the gospel.

  633. >> That's Jesus Christ. That's the death,

  634. the burial, and the resurrection of

  635. Jesus. That is the faith. Amen.

  636. >> What is that faith? Well, it's our final

  637. authority. You're

  638. >> right.

  639. >> It's what we believe tonight. Everything

  640. else hinges on the gospel. Somebody say,

  641. "Amen. That is what our life hinges

  642. upon. If the gospel moves, then we're

  643. not then we then we're moved.

  644. >> Amen. That's right. If the gospel

  645. changes, then we have to change. You're

  646. right.

  647. >> But you know what? It doesn't change.

  648. You're

  649. >> right.

  650. >> Amen. Jesus Christ the same yesterday,

  651. today, and forever. Amen. Hey, he's not

  652. going to change. And so, he is our final

  653. authority. I'll say this, he's not only

  654. this this position, it it gives us our

  655. final authority, but it's our faith

  656. acquisition. And I I say that for sake

  657. of literation, but it's also a point I

  658. want to make. This is what we're

  659. striving for.

  660. >> You're right.

  661. >> What' Paul say? Said that I may know

  662. him. This is what we've zeroed in on.

  663. This is what we're heading towards. This

  664. is where we're going. You know, tonight,

  665. if you don't have a plan with your life,

  666. if you don't have a plan in whatever it

  667. is you're doing, you're probably not

  668. going to get anything done.

  669. >> You're right.

  670. >> Our acquisition is him.

  671. >> It's the faith.

  672. >> Amen. That's where we're headed. It's

  673. our final authority. It's what we're

  674. standing on. But it's also where we're

  675. going.

  676. >> Isn't that interesting? It's what we're

  677. standing on right now. But even far out

  678. yonder, the same thing we're standing on

  679. is what we're headed towards. You know

  680. what that is? That's a path, ain't it?

  681. >> Right.

  682. >> Amen.

  683. >> Notice this. It's not only our final

  684. authority and our faith's acquisition,

  685. but it's our future's assurance.

  686. >> That when you get out there, Amen. When

  687. you've when you've when you stood on it

  688. here, when it's the final authority here

  689. and it's what you're aiming for out

  690. there, when you get out there, man, I'm

  691. telling you, I feel something down on

  692. the inside of me. Amen. When you get out

  693. there, the assurance that you have here,

  694. hey, knowing what you've been aiming for

  695. all THIS TIME, IT'S WHERE YOU'RE GOING

  696. TO GET. IT'S WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO NEED

  697. WHEN YOU get there. Amen. Hallelujah.

  698. Have you ever made a trip sometimes and

  699. you had all this excitement

  700. thinking, "Man, this is going to be

  701. awesome." Man, I do that when me and dad

  702. used to go look at bulldozers,

  703. thinking, man, this is just going to be

  704. the ticket to our work. Amen. I remember

  705. we get there and the guy with the seller

  706. talk it up. Man, this looks great. You

  707. know, it's a great machine. It's

  708. perfect. You know, if you talk a truck

  709. or something like that, you know, man,

  710. there's nothing wrong with it. It's

  711. clean title, no rust. You know what I'm

  712. talking about, man. Amen. You get there

  713. and the thing's literally falling all to

  714. pieces. Amen. Is that not the way it is?

  715. >> But I'll tell you this, it ain't going

  716. to be this way with this thing, is it?

  717. >> Hey, when we get there, it's going to be

  718. better than we ever could have dreamed.

  719. >> Amen. When when we what we are laying

  720. our eyes on right now, we see it a far

  721. off. But I'll tell you this, when we get

  722. there,

  723. >> Amen.

  724. >> Amen. When faith becomes silent, man,

  725. I'm telling you, the half that ain't

  726. never been told, that's why I want to

  727. have a permanent position.

  728. >> Yes.

  729. >> I'm just going to stay here. Amen.

  730. >> Right. just going to stay in the path

  731. because I'm headed somewhere. I'll say

  732. this. We need to get a lock tight vice

  733. grip hold on the faith.

  734. >> Amen.

  735. >> Amen. Take hold of it. What what what

  736. Paul say to lay hold on eternal life

  737. where unto that are called. That is the

  738. faith. That's the gospel. That eternal

  739. life that Jesus came to impart, we're to

  740. grab hold and hang on tight. Amen.

  741. >> Get us a hold on that thing. It's why

  742. Jude said in Jude verse number three, he

  743. said, "We're to earnestly contend for

  744. the faith that's once delivered for the

  745. saints." I'll tell you this, if you

  746. hanging on to it, amen, and it gets to

  747. shaken all around, you know what it's

  748. going to look like? You're fighting.

  749. Amen.

  750. >> Right?

  751. >> I tell you what, the world's going to

  752. try to shake us up. The devil's going to

  753. try to shake us up. Amen. Friends,

  754. family, and all of that other everything

  755. else going to try to shake us up. Let me

  756. tell you something. Just keep your

  757. position. Don't change. Just stay with

  758. it. Amen. Don't back up on the doctrines

  759. of this Bible.

  760. That ought not be quiet tonight. Amen.

  761. That ought to be that's that's that's

  762. foundational. Amen. What Paul say in 1

  763. Corinthians 3, for other foundation can

  764. no man lay,

  765. >> right?

  766. >> Than that that is laid. You're

  767. >> right.

  768. >> Which is Christ Jesus. Peter said in

  769. Acts chapter 4, he said, "For there's

    Acts 4 chapter mention

  770. none other name under heaven given among

  771. men whereby we must be saved." Amen.

  772. It's his name. He is the faith and that

  773. is our permanent position. Amen.

  774. >> Not changing. Hallelujah.

  775. Notice not only our patient perception

  776. and our permanent position, we've been

  777. given this foundation according to

  778. Romans chapter number five and verse

  779. number two. We stand there by grace

  780. through faith on this foundation of

  781. faith. Notice verse three or the third

  782. thing. It's verse 13. You see he says,

  783. "Watch ye stand fast in the faith. Quit

  784. you like men." So there is our

  785. perception, our position. Now there's

  786. our posture. We're to have a p

  787. persistent

  788. posture. So what does he say? He says,

  789. "Quit you like men." Now, I've heard men

  790. preach this and I actually listened to a

  791. message today out of this text and he

  792. preached it a lot better than I did, but

  793. he preached it out of context. Amen. He

  794. talked about some things you ought to

  795. quit like a man. Amen. And it was good.

  796. I enjoyed it. Amen. But that's not what

  797. this is saying. Amen. That word quit

  798. there in the text literally means this.

  799. It means to be a man.

  800. He says, "Quit you like men." That's

  801. speaking of bravery. That's speaking of

  802. boldness. It means to equip yourself or

  803. to armor up. Amen. Put on the Lord Jesus

  804. Christ, Paul said, and make no provision

  805. for the flesh to fulfill it in the lust

  806. thereof. Hey, we're if we put him on,

  807. our posture, amen, is going to fit that

  808. armor. You ever studied about that armor

  809. in the word of God?

  810. >> That Roman soldier, you know that armor?

  811. My daddy, I'll never forget him

  812. preaching this as long as I live. He was

  813. preaching through the armor of God over

  814. there in the book of Ephesians and he

  815. said this. He said, "You know that

  816. armor," he said, "It was made to fit."

  817. >> Right?

  818. >> Amen. It didn't fit just an old lazy fat

  819. slob. Amen.

  820. >> Right.

  821. >> But it was made for somebody that to

  822. fit. And you know what? The muscles,

  823. Amen. And that thing, if you didn't feel

  824. it out, you weren't going to be able to

  825. work with it.

  826. >> Right.

  827. >> Amen. And that's the way it is with this

  828. tonight. If you don't fit this truth,

  829. the armor is not gonna not going to help

  830. you, but it's going to hurt you.

  831. >> You're right.

  832. >> Amen.

  833. >> You ever wore something that don't fit?

  834. Amen. Y'all dead as a hammer tonight.

  835. Y'all going to have to come on help me a

  836. little bit. Amen. You get chapped and

  837. charred. Amen. And all kinds of other

  838. stuff. Amen. You get hurt because it

  839. don't fit. You're

  840. >> right.

  841. >> But I'll tell you this, the armor is not

  842. the problem.

  843. >> You're right.

  844. >> Amen.

  845. >> It's the one wearing it.

  846. >> You're right. And if our posture is

  847. right, the armor will fit. Amen. We're

  848. to be a man. Hey, don't be fearful.

  849. Don't be fake. Amen.

  850. >> It ain't It's not time to be fake. Amen.

  851. We don't need fake nice guys. We need

  852. men that'll be real. Amen. And right.

  853. >> Amen. Here's what I'm seeing in this day

  854. and time. We got a lot of men that's

  855. real.

  856. >> Amen. We got a lot of men that's real.

  857. But you know what the problem? You can

  858. be real all you want to be real, but if

  859. you ain't right, your realness don't

  860. amount to nothing.

  861. >> You're right.

  862. >> Amen.

  863. >> That's right. Tonight, you've got to be

  864. right with the word of God. And then if

  865. you're real on the terms of that, that

  866. means you got to believe it, but you

  867. also got to believe it. Amen.

  868. >> You got to love it, but you have to live

  869. it. Amen.

  870. >> It's got to be more than just black

  871. black ink on white paper, but it's got

  872. to be life. And everything that you are,

  873. it is this that makes the posture. What

  874. did Paul describe the last days as? He

  875. said they have a form of godliness,

  876. >> but denying the power thereof.

  877. >> Right?

  878. >> Amen. They have an image, but you see

  879. the posture is not within. Look what he

  880. says. He says, "Quit you like a man.

  881. Quit you like men."

  882. You know what I say this, a man will

  883. stand, but I'll say this. A godly man

  884. will stand and stay.

  885. >> You're right.

  886. >> Amen.

  887. A man will stand on anything.

  888. >> We sit all over this country. Yeah,

  889. >> there's a man up there in New York right

  890. now that's standing for demonic ideas

  891. and beliefs that if they're not dealt

  892. with, they will send this country to

  893. destruction faster than we can blink.

  894. >> Right?

  895. >> He's standing for it. That'll make it

  896. right. You're

  897. >> right.

  898. >> Somebody say amen right there.

  899. >> What I'm saying is it's right for us to

  900. stand. We got to stand in the right

  901. place and on the right thing. We got to

  902. have the right posture

  903. >> and we got to stay. You know, I don't

  904. want to ever I don't want my kids to

  905. grow up and say, "My daddy believed that

  906. when I was little, but he don't believe

  907. it no more."

  908. >> That's good.

  909. >> My daddy did that when I was little, but

  910. he don't do it no more.

  911. >> I don't want a a person in this

  912. congregation to ever say that that

  913. preacher used to preach on that, but he

  914. don't preach it no more.

  915. >> Good.

  916. >> Amen. I want it to stay the same.

  917. >> I want to stand on it, but I'm going to

  918. stay with it. Amen. We ought to make

  919. that our resolve. Hey, that's not just

  920. for men. That's for all of us,

  921. >> right?

  922. >> And don't mistake the message tonight.

  923. He's using it in the masculine sense

  924. because that's what we're that's who

  925. we're warriors in this time. And the

  926. principle applies across the board for

  927. all of us,

  928. >> right?

  929. >> Amen.

  930. >> To stand.

  931. What did he tell them in the book of

  932. Ephesians? He said in Ephesians, he

  933. said, "Be strong in the Lord

  934. >> in the power of his might." He said,

  935. "Stand therefore with your loins g about

  936. truth having on the breastplate of

  937. righteousness and them feet shaw with

  938. the preparation of the gospel peace and

  939. that belt of truth." He lists all those

  940. all that armor. But what's the most

  941. important thing? He says, "Stand having

  942. done all to stand." There ought to be a

  943. persistent posture. You know, I want it

  944. to be like it was in 1st Samuel chapter

  945. number 9 and verse number six, I believe

  946. it is, when uh they was looking for a

  947. preacher and that man came and got Saul

  948. and chapter 9 verse number six, he he

  949. said, "There is in this city a man of

  950. God."

  951. Could could somebody say that about your

  952. house?

  953. >> Come on.

  954. >> Could somebody say that about this

  955. church?

  956. >> Good.

  957. >> You know, I don't want to lose that.

  958. >> Amen. Amen.

  959. >> There is in this city a man of God that

  960. ain't just a preacher.

  961. >> That's good.

  962. >> That ain't just a man.

  963. >> You're right.

  964. >> I was thinking about this the other day.

  965. I was going to actually say something

  966. about this on Sunday, but you know,

  967. there's there's something that Miss

  968. Modina, Brother Paul Cisk, and there was

  969. a few others I was thinking about that

  970. y'all don't know about, but those two

  971. have in common. Probably I don't even

  972. know if they ever knew each other, but

  973. I'll tell you this, they operate the

  974. same way.

  975. >> All right. They believe the same thing

  976. and they operate the same way. And

  977. that's by faith and on their knees in

  978. prayer.

  979. >> Yeah.

  980. >> Two totally different worlds.

  981. >> But they believe and behave the same

  982. way.

  983. >> I tell you this, that's what it's going

  984. to take.

  985. >> You're right.

  986. >> Persistent posture.

  987. That posture is a posture of prayer.

  988. >> Yes.

  989. >> That posture is a posture of praise.

  990. >> Notice this.

  991. there. I I can't get over that. There is

  992. in this city a man of God.

  993. Notice verse number the fourth thought

  994. here in our verse, verse 13. Quit you

  995. like men. Be strong. So there's a

  996. persistent posture that we ought to

  997. have. We're to equip ourselves to be a

  998. man. Be bold. Don't be fearful, afraid,

  999. or fake. Be real and right.

1000. I got to give you this before I move off

1001. of that. I'll say this. A man number one

1002. tonight, he's touchable. What do you

1003. mean by that? Well, when God deals with

1004. him, puts his finger on him, you know

1005. what? He don't just back up to that

  1006. thing.

  1007. >> Good.

1008. >> But when God touches him, it's like that

  1009. potter in the clay.

  1010. >> Yes.

1011. >> That vessel was marred,

  1012. >> painful, agonizing.

  1013. A man of God's touchable. But I'll say

  1014. this, a man of God's trustworthy.

  1015. >> Yes.

1016. >> Amen. and you can depend on him. He's

  1017. faithful. What's our verse? It's

1018. required in stewards that a man be found

  1019. faithful. He's trustworthy. But I'll say

1020. this, man of God's not only touchable

  1021. and truthful or trustworthy,

  1022. but he's teachable.

1023. >> I'll tell you this, the reason why

1024. people aren't teachable in this day and

1025. time is because they're not touchable.

  1026. >> You're right.

1027. >> You can't teach people anything because

1028. they won't let God touch them.

  1029. >> You're right.

1030. He said, "Quit, you like me." Man will

1031. admit the fact he don't know it all.

  1032. >> You're right.

1033. >> Man will admit the fact he needs to

1034. learn. Man admit the fact that he ain't

  1035. got it all together.

  1036. >> Yeah.

1037. >> I'll tell you the days that helped me

1038. the most for my daddy growing up is when

1039. he looked at me and said, "Son, I'll be

  1040. honest with you. I don't know. I don't

1041. really know what to tell you right now,

1042. but I'll tell you this. I'm going to

1043. pray and you need to pray and we need to

  1044. figure this thing out."

  1045. >> Yes.

1046. >> I'll tell you what, that helped me as

1047. much as more than anything else she ever

  1048. told me. Amen.

1049. >> We ain't got it figured out.

1050. >> But you know what? The posture don't

  1051. change.

  1052. >> Amen.

1053. >> What we do have figured out,

1054. don't back up on it. Notice this. I'm I

1055. moved tonight. He says, "Be strong."

  1056. There's there's prominent power.

1057. Prominent power. Be strong. What does

1058. that mean? Well, strong means to empower

1059. or to increase in vigor. Of course, we

1060. know tonight this is spiritual, not

  1061. physical.

  1062. It's hidden power. It's not visible.

  1063. It's not inherent, but it's attained.

  1064. >> Something you wasn't born with.

1065. Something that you just didn't get.

1066. Something you don't just stumble across,

1067. but it requires effort. You see,

1068. Ephesians 6:10, be strong, the Lord in

    Ephesians 6:10

1069. the power of his might. You see the

1070. strength that we have, it's endued.

  1071. You're

  1072. >> right.

  1073. >> It's given to us.

  1074. >> Yes.

1075. >> But you understand that strength is

1076. given to you without measure. But the

1077. difference of how strong you are is how

1078. much of that strength you employ.

  1079. >> You're right.

1080. >> You see, see strength was in dude. What?

1081. Acts chapter 1 verse number eight. He

    Acts 1 chapter mention

1082. told him said, "You shall receive power

1083. after that the Holy Ghost come upon

  1084. you." So it's spiritual strength. It's

1085. Holy Ghost. You shall receive power

1086. after that the Holy Ghost has come upon

1087. you. Shall be witnesses. You know the

1088. verse. Well, what comes out of that? Why

1089. is it that people who are saved and have

1090. that strength endued to them do not use

1091. it? Well, it's endued, but most people

  1092. don't employ it. You're

  1093. >> right.

1094. >> It's the same the same idea of having um

1095. you know, having a machine that can do a

1096. do a do a job, you know, at your

1097. workplace or something, does something,

1098. but if you don't use that,

1099. >> you know, you think about everything

1100. used to be made by hand. Now you have,

1101. you know, a machine that's able to do

1102. those things, you know, clothing, things

1103. of that nature when when, you know,

1104. ladies and men men would have to sit for

1105. hours and sew. And then there would be a

1106. machine that you hook in the wall and

1107. you just move that thing around. A lot

1108. less labor involved in that.

1109. >> It's a lot quicker to go that way. Well,

1110. you see, here's the thing about the

1111. Christian life. God's given us power,

  1112. >> right?

1113. >> We're given the operation. We know how

1114. this thing ought to go, but what

1115. happens? We try to do it ourselves.

  1116. >> That's right.

1117. We've been endued with power, but we

  1118. don't employ it.

1119. Notice that he says, "Be strong.

1120. Be strong." It's not something that that

  1121. you just get.

1122. And and I like what John said. You

1123. remember what John said, 1 John 2, he

1124. said, I said, "I've written unto you

1125. young men because you are strong and

1126. you've overcome the wicked one." But you

1127. know, he wasn't talking about their

1128. inherent strength. It's not youth that

1129. just brings strength in the spiritual

1130. world. Their strength come from the

1131. Lord. Amen. That's where their power

1132. comes from. That's where our strength

1133. comes from. And if we do not employ

1134. that, you see this strength is

1135. sovereign. It comes from God. It's

1136. spiritual. It is the Holy Ghost within

1137. us. It is imp it is employed through

  1138. scripture.

1139. The spirit of God has no foundation to

1140. work in your life without the word of

  1141. God.

1142. >> Right? You can have all the power in the

1143. world invested in you by being saved and

1144. having the spirit of God within. But it

1145. is the scripture in which the Holy

1146. Spirit writes the pages of your life

  1147. upon.

  1148. >> Right?

1149. >> But what do we do? We just set that book

  1150. aside.

1151. I I'll write my own story today, Lord.

  1152. >> It's sovereign. It's spiritual. It's

  1153. scriptural. It's sanctifying. This

1154. strength sets you apart. Think about

1155. Samson. You know, we have the image in

1156. our mind and the kids Bibles. I had one

1157. of them. Kids Bibles picture Samson's

  1158. looking like Arie,

1159. some big old buff guy. But I'll tell you

1160. what, I don't believe Samson was that

1161. way. I think he was just a small guy.

1162. And I think the Holy Ghost gave him

  1163. power.

1164. >> Bible says the spirit of God began to

  1165. move him.

  1166. >> Right?

1167. >> God empowered him. He was different. Why

1168. is that? Because God put the power on

1169. him. God made him distinct. God made him

1170. different. He didn't just look like

1171. somebody that lifted weights all the

  1172. time.

  1173. >> Right?

1174. >> You know what? Real spiritual people,

1175. what you'll notice about them is they

1176. have no distinction of themselves. They

1177. look just like the rest of us.

  1178. >> Right?

1179. >> They might dress different. I'll say

1180. this, the further we go along in this

1181. world today. All of that's going to get

1182. more and it's going to get farther and

1183. farther and farther out. The world's

1184. going to keep going farther and farther

1185. and farther away. And Christians are

1186. going to have to look more different.

1187. Amen. We're peculiar people. But what

1188. I'm trying to say tonight is this is

1189. spiritual people, holy people that have

1190. power and it's prominent in their life.

1191. You get around them and it ain't nothing

1192. they say. It ain't nothing they do. But

1193. just being around them, you know that

  1194. God's power

  1195. >> is on their life. You're

  1196. >> right.

1197. >> I'll say it again. Sister Modina is one

  1198. of those people.

  1199. >> You're right.

1200. >> You get around her and the Holy Ghost

  1201. was just there.

  1202. >> Yeah.

1203. >> My grandmother was like that. My

1204. great-grandmother was like that. My

1205. great granny's the reason probably that

1206. my family saved and preaching. My my

1207. brother and my daddy and myself all

1208. preaching and and and I know it was her

1209. prayers that put salvation in our life.

  1210. >> Amen.

1211. >> Just a bunch of farm kids.

1212. And God saved us out of that.

1213. >> Called us, saved us, sealed us, called

1214. us to the ministry. And it was because

1215. of a woman of WOMEN THAT HAD THE HOLY

1216. GHOST DRIPPING OFF THEIR LIVES. AMEN.

  1217. >> That imprint,

1218. you see, the power was there, but it

1219. wasn't just there. It was prominent,

  1220. >> right?

  1221. >> It had precedence.

  1222. You've got power tonight.

  1223. >> It's in you.

1224. >> But is it prominent?

1225. Is that what everybody sees?

  1226. You see, I'm afraid I don't want people

1227. to get to the end. I don't want to get

1228. to the end of my ministry and people

1229. look at me and say, "Well, he was the

  1230. Bible expositor."

1231. Now, I I'm thankful for the word of God,

1232. and I love it, and I love to to to

1233. expositionally teach and preach the word

1234. of God, but I'll tell you this, that

1235. book without the power of God is just as

1236. dead as yesterday or tomorrow's

  1237. newspaper.

  1238. >> Without God's presence, WITHOUT GOD'S

1239. POWER, WE'LL NEVER GET anything out of

  1240. that Bible.

1241. >> RIGHT? AND POWER HAS TO BE PROMINENT. IT

1242. HAS TO BE PREEMINENT IN EVERYTHING THAT

1243. WE DO, BUT more importantly in who we

  1244. are.

  1245. >> Right?

  1246. >> Be strong.

  1247. >> I'll remind you again, it's not

  1248. inherited, but it's inherent, but it's

  1249. attained. It's cultivated.

  1250. It's endued. It's it's increased by

1251. steady use. You remember Hebrews chapter

    Hebrews 5 chapter mention

  1252. 5. Hebrews chapter 5 verse number 14

    Hebrews 5 chapter mention

1253. said though he said even to them that

1254. strong meat belongth to them that are

1255. full age. You remember what we talked

1256. about there a few weeks ago Sunday

1257. school it belongth to them who are full

1258. age. He said what did he say? He said to

1259. them who by reason of use have exercised

1260. their exercised their senses to discern

  1261. both good and evil.

1262. >> Power belongs to people who's willing

1263. willing to work for it.

  1264. >> You're right.

1265. >> If you give five minutes a day to your

1266. Bible study and two minutes a day to

1267. prayer, you're probably not going to

  1268. have power. You're right.

1269. >> If you give that much to prayer and to

1270. Bible study a day, you probably don't do

  1271. it every day.

  1272. >> Here's here's what I'm saying to you.

1273. Power belongs to those who invest time

  1274. in it.

  1275. >> Yes.

  1276. >> To receive it.

1277. It's got to be prominent in your life.

1278. It it's increased by steady use

1279. according to Hebrews chapter 5 verse

    Hebrews 5 chapter mention

  1280. number 14. It's also increased by

  1281. obedience according to Philippians

    Philippians 2 chapter mention

1282. chapter 2 verse number 12. Paul said, he

1283. told that Philippian church, he said,

1284. "To work out your own salvation with

  1285. fear and trembling."

  1286. >> You're right.

1287. >> How's that done? He said, he said, "As

1288. you've always obeyed, Amen. Not now." He

1289. said, "I'm in my absence." He said, "You

1290. obeyed in my presence, but now in my

1291. absence," he said, you're going to have

1292. to work out your own s your work out

1293. your own salvation with fear and tremor.

1294. Can't have somebody holding you by the

  1295. hand all the time.

  1296. >> Right?

  1297. >> Y'all don't have to have a preacher, a

1298. Sunday school teacher, or somebody to

1299. hold you by the hand. You ought to have

1300. a spiritual life for yourself,

  1301. >> right?

  1302. >> You can't live off somebody else's

1303. power. You can't live off somebody

1304. else's prayer life. I'll be honest with

1305. you. I think sometimes in our church,

1306. I'll be real honest with you, can you

  1307. with tonight? I think we're operating

1308. off the prayers of some faithful saints

  1309. of God tonight.

  1310. >> You're right.

1311. >> No, matter of fact, I know we are.

  1312. >> You're right.

1313. >> Cuz this young generation ain't got time

  1314. to pray.

  1315. >> You're right, brother.

1316. They ain't got time to come to church

1317. for different events other than Sunday

1318. morning, Sunday night, and Wednesday

1319. night. They ain't no way they got time

  1320. to pray.

  1321. >> Good.

  1322. >> I'm being honest with you.

  1323. >> Come on.

1324. >> Okay. And what are we going to do when

1325. the faithful prayers are gone?

  1326. >> You're right.

1327. >> I feel like this is something every

1328. every service I preach, Brother Rick,

1329. feels like it's something comes up every

1330. time. What are we going to do when the

1331. next generation has to take it?

  1332. Be strong.

  1333. Prominent power. Y'all right tonight. I

  1334. got one more.

  1335. >> Y'all hand to one more.

1336. >> Prominent power. Be strong. Then there's

1337. the last one. This This is where it gets

1338. better. Amen. And this ain't bad. Amen.

1339. This ought to be what you love. Amen.

1340. I tell you what, when I got saved and

  1341. got right with God,

1342. later on life, I got really right with

1343. God and got surrendered to his will. You

1344. know what? There ain't been preaching

1345. I've heard since then I thought was too

  1346. hard.

  1347. >> Right.

  1348. >> There's been some preaching I thought,

1349. well, that ain't biblical. Amen. But

  1350. there's been that I never heard a sermon

  1351. I thought, man, that's too harsh.

  1352. It's just right.

  1353. >> You're right.

1354. >> Notice this verse 14. Let all your

1355. things be done with charity.

  1356. There's a prevailing passion

1357. that we are to have. And why is that

1358. passion prevailing? Well, notice the

1359. verse. There's the outlets in verse 14.

1360. Let all your things I don't know about

1361. you, that sounds like everything to me.

  1362. >> You're right.

  1363. >> That's every outlet.

1364. >> Every relationship, every employment,

1365. everything that you are, and everything

1366. that you do summed up in that verse.

  1367. >> You're right.

1368. >> Let all your things, every outlet, every

1369. operation, look what he says. Let all

  1370. your things be done.

1371. This ought to be the seasoning on top of

1372. every meal. This ought to be the staple

1373. of every event. It ought to be the

1374. center point of everything that goes on

  1375. in your life.

1376. What is it? Well, because he's talking

1377. to the church. You know what it is? It's

  1378. oneness.

1379. >> Notice the verse. Let all your things be

1380. done with charity. That charity in the

1381. church is brotherly kindness. What did

1382. Jesus say to the disciples? He said, "By

1383. this, amen. By this shall all men know

1384. that you're my disciples." When you have

1385. because you have love one to another,

1386. charity. Every outlet is designed, the

1387. operation of every false facet of life

1388. is designed to be done with oneness.

1389. That oneness first of all comes between

  1390. you and Christ.

  1391. >> Right?

  1392. >> There's got to be fellowship.

1393. >> There has to be closeness. There has to

1394. be Christian fellowship between you and

1395. your master. And then it goes beyond

1396. that. Not just to fellowship with the

1397. Lord, but it goes to fellowship with the

  1398. brethren.

1399. >> You got to be right with God and right

1400. with the church. Now, oh man, people

1401. don't like to hear that, but I'll say

1402. this. If you're not right with a church,

1403. you're not right with God.

  1404. >> You're right.

  1405. >> That's the book.

1406. >> If you are not right I'll say this. If

1407. you're not right with a family member or

1408. a spouse, you're not right with God.

  1409. Come on.

1410. >> WHAT DID THE BIBLE teach us? That we if

1411. we if we go apart, if we mess up in our

1412. marriage, what would it do? It hinder

  1413. our prayers. Right.

  1414. >> Amen.

  1415. Say, it's important.

1416. Why does that happen? Because we don't

  1417. have love.

  1418. >> You're right.

1419. >> What does the Bible say? Love will hide

1420. a multitude of sins. Love is the is the

1421. ingredient that God operates his mercy

  1422. upon.

  1423. >> Yes.

1424. The long-suffering hand of God towards

1425. sinners is is BECAUSE OF WHAT? HIS LOVE

  1426. for

1427. >> The only reason God would give us a

1428. chance to serve him is because he loves

  1429. us.

  1430. >> You're right.

1431. >> THE ONLY REASON GOD WOULD GIVE US A

1432. CHANCE TO TRY to live the Christian life

1433. the best we can is because he loves us.

1434. He knows how big of a failure we are.

  1435. >> You're right.

  1436. >> Amen.

1437. >> On our best day, WE MISS IT EVERY 5

  1438. SECONDS. SOMEBODY SAY, "AMEN."

  1439. >> You're right. I think to myself some

1440. days, man, could you be any more stupid?

  1441. Amen.

1442. You know what this life comes down to?

1443. It comes down to operating in the realm

  1444. of God's holiness.

  1445. >> You're right.

1446. >> And that's where his love is. I'll say

1447. this tonight, and I'm done.

1448. Paul points out here and really it's

1449. pointed out in all the word of God. But

1450. God has designed the church so that the

1451. church must be reliant on Christ.

  1452. >> Yes.

  1453. >> Amen.

1454. >> The church must be relied on Christ. But

1455. don't miss this. It's also dependent on

  1456. Christian brotherhood.

  1457. >> You're right.

  1458. >> It's dependent on us.

  1459. >> You're right.

1460. >> What did the Bible say? It please God by

1461. the foolishness of preaching to save

1462. them that would believe. I don't know

1463. about you, but you don't have preaching

1464. without a preacher and a people to

  1465. preach to. You're

  1466. >> right.

  1467. >> You don't have fellowship. You don't

  1468. have Christianity without Christians.

1469. This thing ain't just throw away and

1470. pick it up again somewhere else down

1471. along the way. It's not. It don't work

  1472. that way.

  1473. >> You're right.

  1474. >> This thing's holy. It's the eternal

1475. purpose, by the way. It's what Jesus

  1476. died for.

  1477. >> It is. Amen.

1478. >> He died for the church. You're

  1479. >> right.

1480. >> The grace dispensation. Just get a hold

1481. of this tonight. The mystery that has

1482. been hid from all the prophets. And God

  1483. loved his men.

  1484. >> Yes.

1485. >> Every one of them. He loved John the

1486. Baptist. He said there's not been a man

  1487. born of woman greater.

  1488. >> You're right.

1489. >> Than John the Baptist. But you remember

1490. what he said? He that's least in the

1491. kingdom of God is greater.

  1492. >> Y.

1493. >> He loved Moses. He loved Noah. He loved

1494. David. He loved Abraham, Isaac, and

1495. Jacob. He loved Solomon, and everyone

1496. that followed him. Let me tell you this.

1497. He hid what we're doing tonight from all

  1498. of them.

  1499. >> Yes, you're right.

1500. >> How do we treat him?

1501. >> The admonition of the apostle here, I'll

1502. say it again tonight. This last

1503. admonition that he interjects in the

1504. central point of this chapter is

  1505. sufficient instruction for total

  1506. success.

1507. If you apply verse 13 and 14,

  1508. sky's is the limit.

  1509. >> Amen.

  1510. >> Amen. I believe that tonight.

  1511. >> Just that

1512. it's enough. Amen. Father, thank you for

  1513. this time tonight.

1514. Thank you for these truths, Lord. I

1515. believe it with every fiber in my being.

1516. And God, I know if I should falter,

1517. Lord, if I should fail and Lord, some

1518. way, somehow I get put out of this thing

1519. because of a mistake that I made.

1520. Lord, I know tonight and I want these

1521. people to know that this is still right.

1522. >> Regardless of who fails it, of who

1523. misses it, and who makes it,

  1524. >> it's still right. Lord, I pray you'd

1525. help us to apply it. Not just to

1526. apprehend it, but to apply it. Lord, I

1527. love you. Thank you for loving us and

1528. giving us this wonderful church. And

1529. Lord, I know it's not perfect, but God,

1530. I know one day you're going to make us

  1531. perfect.

  1532. >> Amen.

1533. >> And so, Lord, help us to strive to be

1534. until you come. Lord, we love you. Bless

1535. us as we depart in Jesus name. And God's

  1536. children say it.

  1537. >> Amen.

1538. >> I love each and every one of you. I hope

1539. you have a good rest of your week.
