chapter 37.

I appreciate each one of you being here

today. Thank the Lord for you. And I

love each and every one of you. God sure

is good to us. And he's been so good.

Blessed us more than we deserve. I tell

you what, I ought to be in hell this

morning. And but I'm here and in my

right mind, saved and on my way to

heaven. Amen. And my wife might would

argue about the right mind part. Amen.

But I think I am. Let's put it that way.

Amen. But I appreciate you being here.

Genesis chapter 37. I want to read just

Genesis 37 · chapter mention

a few verses this morning. Give you a

thought and then we'll go home uh this

morning. Genesis 37 verse number one.

The Bible says, "And Jacob dwelt in the

land wherein his father was a stranger

in the land of Canaan." These are the

generations of Jo of Jacob. Joseph being

17 years old was feeding the flock with

his brethren. And the lad was with the

sons of Bilha, and with the sons of

Zilpa, and his father's wives. And

Joseph brought unto his father their

evil report. Now Israel loved Joseph

more than all his children, because he

was the son of his old age. And he made

him a coat of many colors. When his

brethren saw that their father loved him

more than all his brethren, they hated

him, and could not speak peaceibly unto

them. And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he

told it his brethren, and they hated him

yet the more. And he said unto them,

"Hear I pray you this dream which I had

dreamed. For behold, we were binding

sheav in the field, and lo, my sheath

arose, and also stood upright, and

behold, your sheep stood round about,

and made obedience to my sheath." And

his brethren said to him, "Shalt thou

indeed reign over us, or shalt thou

indeed have dominion over us?" And they

hated him yet the more for his dreams

and for his words. And he dreamed yet

another dream, and told his brethren,

and said, "Behold, I've dreamed a dream

more. Behold, the sun and the moon, and

the 11 stars made obedience to me." And

he told it to his father, and to his

brethren. And his father rebuked him,

and said unto him, "What is this dream

that thou hast dreamed? shall I and thy

mother and thy brethren indeed come to

bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?

And his brethren envied him, but his

father observed the saying. Now, I want

you to notice the end of this chapter.

And then we're going to turn to the

Gospel of John for just a minute. But in

35 verses, the tune really changes in

this chapter. The Bible says in verse

number 32 or verse 31 that they took

Joseph's coat and killed a kid of the

goats and dipped the coat in the blood.

They sent the coat of many colors and

they brought it to their father and

said, "This have we found. Know now

whether it be thy son's code or no." Let

me say this to you. They knew whose code

it was. Amen.

>> They would have knew whose code it was

if they had found it and they hadn't

been the one that done it.

>> Yeah.

>> That's the way your sin is, by the way.

Let me just put that out there. Notice

verse 33. And he knew it and said, "It

is my son's coat, an evil beast hath

devoured him." Joseph is with without

doubt ren in pieces. And Jacob ran his

clothes and put sackcloth upon his loins

and mourned for his son many days. And

all his sons and all his daughters rose

up to comfort him. But he refused to be

comforted and comforted. and he said,

"For I will go down into the grave unto

my son mourning." Thus his father wept

for him. Now I want you to notice with

me John's gospel.

John's gospel chapter number 15.

John's gospel chapter number 15 and

verse number 17.

Chapter 15:E1 17 the Bible says Jesus

speaking these things I command you that

you love one another. Verse number 18 if

the world hates you

know that it hated me before it hated

you.

>> Amen.

>> And with the help of the Lord I want to

preach on the thought out of verse

number 18 on why the world hates Jesus.

why the world hates Jesus. Father, I ask

you this morning that you would help us

as we've come, Lord, of this hour, this

time of worship, Lord, this time of

preaching. God, I pray that you'd give

us strength. Give us liberty. Give us

uncction. Fill us with the spirit of

God. Remove every hindrance. Lord, I

know I am completely incapable of

preaching this sermon this morning

without your help. And God, I pray that

you would move in our midst, work in

every heart and every life, have free

liberty and cores in every heart. God, I

ask you, Father, for that one that's

here lost today. I pray today would be

the day of salvation for them. And we

give you thanks for what you do because

we ask it in Jesus name. And God's

children said,

>> "Amen." Thank you for standing. You can

be seated this morning. Genesis chapter

Genesis 37 · chapter mention

37 begins the story of the man Joseph.

Now, Joseph comes on the scene. several

chapters earlier his birth. Of course,

he and Benjamin are the two sons of

Rachel. Now, we know that Jacob here has

four wives, Leah and Rachel, and then

their two handmmaids, Bilha and Zilpa in

this text. And Joseph is a son of

Rachel. And I want to say this this

morning when I come to this text, I

think about Joseph. I think about Jacob.

And I think about what comes to my mind

always when we think about Jacob is the

dysfunction of his family. Jacob's

family is a mess. And I'll tell you the

reason why his family is a mess. Because

Jacob was full of lust. And everyone in

his life was led around by his

deception. Jacob was a man full of

deceit. He was a man full of strategery

and scheming. He was constantly trying

to undermine somebody else and so he

could exalt himself. And I'll say this,

that is your natural state as a sinner

this morning. You realize, no, it does

not matter how hard you try to be

righteous that you are you are

exceedingly sinful. Somebody say amen.

And because of that, you are ultimately

going to be a schemer and a deceiver.

Your flesh is deceitful. And so because

of that, that's what your nature is.

That's the way you're going to be. And

so if you operate as a saved person in

the power of the flesh, you will be

deceitful and be a schemer. If you are

lost, you can't help but operate that

way this morning because you have no

capacity to operate in holiness and in

righteousness. But I'm thankful all of

that can change this morning. Amen. God

can do an eternal work in your heart.

And I pray that he'll help us as we look

at this text. But Jacob's life is a

mess. And Jacob's children, there's many

things that go on in this chapter. You

can look just a couple of chapters

prior. And Jacob's one of Jacob's older

sons, Judah, the son of Leah. He he

takes a woman unto himself of the

Canaanite people. And then there's a

bunch of murder that takes place. And

there's just so much that goes on.

Reuben sleeps with one of Jacob's wives,

his oldest son. And Dina is is she is

taken and her purity is taken from her.

It's just a mess. There's just constant

mess in Jacob's life. But Joseph is the

one with whom righteousness dwells. When

we get to chapter 37, it's almost like

the pages turn. It begins with talking

about this man Joseph and who he was.

And I want to give you some things out

of this text this morning. Note by way

of introduction the timing here in verse

number one of chapter 37. The Bible

says, "And Jacob dwelt in the land

wherein his father was a stranger in the

land of Canaan." Now Jacob here, he has

come out. They've been dwelling in

different places in this land. He's been

to Bethl. He's been to Padana Ram. He's

been over there by the brook Jabbok. We

preached about that there on last week.

And Jacob has been many different

places. And here in this text, of

course, it's a summarizing thought that

he is dwelling here in the land of Cain.

We know that was the promise that

Abraham had give unto him. But I'll say

this, you can be dwelling in the place

where God wants you to be and still not

living the way that God wants you to

live. Somebody say amen. Jacob now is

right. And I preached this there really

along the same lines talking about Lot.

Just because Lot was righteous, he found

himself in the wrong place, living the

wrong way. And Jacob here, he is doing

right now for the most part. He's had

another experience there at Bethl in

chapter 35. But I'll tell you this,

Jacob's sins have been passed on to his

children and they, it seems, are falling

by the wayside. And that's what we're

going to find in this very same chapter.

But there's one of his children that's

not this way. And so I note the timing,

but I note the type in our text. In

verse number two, the Bible says, "These

are the generations of Jacob. Joseph

being 17 years old was feeding the flock

with his brethren." Now, what we have

come across here this morning in this

text is the most pure picture and type

of Jesus and all the word of God. Joseph

pictures and types Jesus Christ better

than any other person in all the Bible.

And I I there's a lot I could say about

that this morning. For just sake of

time, I'll say this. You never find a

sin of Joseph recorded in the Bible.

>> You never see a place where he missed

the mark. You never see a mistake that

Joseph made. Now, there's some

inferences, maybe implications that you

might could make about different places,

but I'll say this. As far as pure types

go in the word of God, Joseph is the

most pure type of the Lord Jesus Christ

just for his life. And we'll say more

about that as the message comes about

this morning. But I I note not only the

timing the and the and the type in the

text, but I note the truth in this text.

In verse number two, the Bible says that

he was 17 years old feeding the flock

with his brethren. Notice this. And the

lad was with the sons of Bilha and with

the sons of Zilpa, his father's wives.

and Joseph brought unto his father their

evil report. Now, what's happened in

this text is life is being lived. Now,

let me just stop right here and let's

just take a reality check for a minute.

Breathe in and breathe out.

You know what that means?

>> You're living.

>> Just thought we'd stop and take a

reality check for a minute. Amen.

>> So, you know what that means? If you're

living this morning, you have a life.

>> Amen. and your life is influenced and

it's influxed by many things and many

people

>> Joseph is in a dysfunctional family.

His brethren really are defiled people

and Joseph is trying to be different.

And let me say this to you young people

this morning. Just because your life's

dysfunctional and things are defiled

around you does not mean that you can't

be different.

>> Right? Amen.

>> You can live for God.

>> You can be different.

>> You can be a person a a a a person that

stands out for the glory of God. But

I'll tell you this, it comes with a

cost.

>> Right?

>> You see in this text, you find it three

times in our text. The Bible uses the

word hate. The Bible says in verse

number four that his brethren saw that

their father loved him more than all his

brethren. They hated him. Verse five,

Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told his

brethren, and they hated him yet the

more. Verse eight, they said, "Shalt,

thou indeed have dominion over us." And

they hated him yet the more for his

dreams and for his words. And I'll tell

you, just like Jesus told his disciples,

he said, "Marvel not if the world hates

you. Know that it hated me before it

hated you."

>> I want to tell you this, church, this

morning. Don't expect the world to love

you. Why do we have this mentality in

this day and time that the church is

supposed to be loved by society? We

should not expect the government to bow

down to us.

>> Right?

>> Amen. We should not expect society to

grant our every wish as the church. Now,

I know in American history, there was a

day when the world did revolve around

the church, but we're not living there

anymore.

>> Amen. I know America has been blessed in

days gone by and there was a time period

when government answered to the church

when they took advice from preachers.

Much of the government was preachers at

one time. What I'm saying is is that day

is gone.

>> Right?

>> And the influence of the church in

America is just a shadow

>> of what it used to be. But I'll tell you

this, Christ has not changed.

>> And the true church has not changed.

Somebody say amen right there. Hey,

those that really believe and those that

really want to follow Christ, they're

living the same way. They're doing the

same things, praying the same prayers,

and reading the same Bible. Somebody

say, "Amen." We have not changed. And

I'm thankful there's some things that

don't change. Amen. But in this text, I

consider that Joseph is in a dire place.

He's in a place that's very destructive

to his mental capacity. And we note his

age in verse number seven. He's 17 years

old. He's just a young man at this time.

Jacob is probably from what I've

studied, he is over a hundred years old

at this time. Maybe they're getting

close to a hundred. And so Jacob here,

he's really raising Joseph as what we

would call a great great grandchild.

It's precious to him. It's the son of

his old age, the Bible says. And I want

to give you three reasons this morning

why the world hates Jesus. And it's

pictured to us perfectly in this man,

Joseph. It's seen in these verses just

perfectly. And I want to say this to you

this morning. Do not marvel that these

things bring bring about hatred in our

life. You're

>> right

>> when I'm going to give you this list of

three things. Do not be amazed that this

is going to be a part of your life.

Because the truth is if they hated

Jesus, they will hate us.

>> Amen.

>> Amen. I want you to know first of all in

this message this morning, this just a

simple thought and I'll get out of the

way and be done. Number one, the reason

the world, one of the reasons why the

world hates Jesus, number one, is

because his distinction,

his distinction. You say, "What do you

mean?" Well, notice that the Bible

literally marks Joseph in verse number

two. You can read about Judah. You can

read about Simeon and Levi, their

wickedness, and killing off a bunch of

men. Judah's wickedness and defiling

himself, Reuben's wickedness and

defiling himself with one of his

father's handmaidadens, Dina's

wickedness, and literally almost every

other son of Jacob as described as

wicked.

But this person, Joseph's different.

He doesn't look the same. You see, the

pages of scripture paint him

differently. I'll say this, first of

all, number one, he's distinct because

of his birth. Look at the text. Verse

two, Joseph being 17 years old was

feeding the flock with his brethren. The

lad was with the sons of Bilha, with the

sons of Zilpa, his father's wives. And

Joseph brought unto his father their

evil report. Now, who's whose mother was

whose whose son was Joseph?

Rachel.

Who was Rachel?

Rachel was the one that Jacob loved

most. Rachel was the one that he served

seven years and then Laban tricked him.

Remember that? And in and then seven

more years he served for Rachel. And the

Bible says they seemed as but a few days

for Jacob because he loved her and he

loved Rachel. And Joseph was the

firstborn son of Rachel. We know the

scripture teaches that she was barren.

And the competition between the women

there was there he they gave their

handmaidadens unto Joseph so Rachel

could have children by them. And I want

to say this this morning. In a in a

world that's increasingly uh you know

making this okay and and saying it's all

right. Polygamy is still wrong. Okay.

>> Amen. It never works out. It's always

wicked. Every time you see it in the

Bible, there's a destruction that

follows it. Just like David when he sent

out Uriah said there followed him a mess

of meat with from the king. Every place

where there's adultery, every place

where there's polygamy, every place

where there's sexual immorality, there's

nothing but a mess that follows. Right.

>> Amen. One man and one woman for life.

Hallelujah. Somebody say amen.

>> Amen.

>> It's what the Bible teaches.

>> But in this text, he was distinct

because of his birth. See, Joseph was

the one. He was number one born in his

father's old age. Amen. But he was born

by Rachel, the one that Jacob loved the

most. And so Jacob's got a target on his

back. And you say, "Preacher, what do

you mean by that?" Well, number one, I'd

say Jesus was distinct because of his

birth.

>> Amen. He's the only one that's ever been

born of a virgin.

>> Amen. And you say, "Preacher, what does

that have to do with me?" Well, if

you're saved, you're distinct because of

your birth. Somebody say, "Amen." Hey,

you've been set apart. You've been born

from heaven, born again by the grace of

God. What I'm saying is you are distinct

because of the new birth. We know Jesus

was distinct because he was the virgin

born son of God. And Joseph was distinct

because he was the son born of Jacob in

his old age. And so he was distinct

because of his birth. He was also

distinct because of his behavior. Notice

that in verse two and Joseph brought

unto his father. What's your Bible say?

Their evil report. You know what that

means? Joseph come back and said, "Hey,

Daddy,

my brothers ain't doing right."

You know what that implies? Joseph

didn't live like they did.

>> You're right.

The world hates Jesus because his birth

is distinct. But I'll say this, his

behavior was distinct.

>> Amen.

>> Not a single time did they ever find any

wickedness in Jesus. Not a single time

do you ever see any wickedness in

Joseph. And you say, "Preacher, well, he

was a prideful young man." No, he cared

about his daddy and he wanted his daddy

to know what his brothers were doing.

>> Amen.

>> You say, "Preacher, well that's a

tattletail. I don't want to train train

my children to be a tattletail." Well,

if you don't teach them when they're

young, Amen. that they need to tell on

themselves when they mess up.

>> Amen.

>> I'm not telling Hey, listen to me this

morning. When your child, Amen, gets in

a mess and makes a mistake and they sin,

do something against God, the first

person they run to ought not be a friend

down at the schoolhouse.

>> Amen.

>> You better train your children that they

come to you.

>> Amen. And you say, "Well, Joseph didn't

hadn't sin." Well, you're exactly right

about that. But Joseph was watching

after his brethren.

>> Amen.

>> You think about this. Jesus when he come

to this earth, what did he come to do?

Come to look after his brethren, didn't

he?

>> What the Bible say in John chapter one?

He came unto his own and his own

received him not.

>> You say, you say, "What do you mean,

preacher?" I'm saying that Joseph was

looking out for his brethren. Jesus, the

world hated him because he was just

looking out for

>> right.

>> Amen. He They hate him. He's distinct in

his birth. He's distinct in his

behavior. I'll say this thirdly, and let

me just put this out there before I move

on. A Christian ought to be distinct in

our behavior. Amen. We ought to act

different than the world. We ought to

look different than the world. Amen. And

just because of that, know that the

world will hate you.

>> Amen. You're different. You've got you

just wearing that yoke of bondage. Let

me tell you, it's freedom, friend.

Hallelujah. Bless his name. I'll take it

every day of the week. Jesus said, "Come

unto me all ye that labor and are heavy

laden." How is it that we labor and are

heavy laden under the bondage and the

yoke of sin? SOMEBODY SAY, "AMEN. COME

UNTO me all ye that labor and are heavy

laden?" He said, "I'LL GIVE YOU REST.

TAKE MY YOKE UPON YOU. LEARN OF ME for

I'm meek and lowly IN HEART." HE SAID,

"YOU SHALL FIND REST UNTO YOUR SOULS."

>> I don't know. I'll take it every day.

Amen.

>> He was distinct in his birth. He was

distinct in his behavior. But I'll say

this, he was distinct in his beauty.

Notice the text. The Bible says in verse

number three, "Now Israel loved Joseph

more than all his children." I'll say

more about that in a minute. Because he

was the son of his old age. Notice this.

And he made him a coat of many colors.

You say, "What do you mean Joseph was

distinct in his beauty?" Well, some of

y'all hook up with what I'm fixing to

say, but I'm going to explain it for the

rest of you. Amen. Joseph, that coat of

many colors, you see, he was arrayed

with beauty that wasn't his own. You're

right.

>> Come on.

>> That coat of many colors was put on

Joseph. Amen. To make him distinct from

all his brothers.

>> So that everybody knew when they saw

that coat that that's Joseph.

>> You know what that coat represented? Not

only that it was Joseph, but that he was

the father's favorite son.

>> Amen.

>> Amen. You say, "What do you mean by

that?" Well, I'm saying Jesus.

>> Amen.

>> Jesus was endued with flesh. Hey, God

conceived him in the womb of Mary. God

wrapped him in flesh. And you know what?

He had more beauty.

>> Yeah.

>> Amen. God placed the beauty upon him. He

was more beautiful than his brethren.

How is that? Well, his behavior made him

sto out. But I'll say this, his his his

beauty made him stick out.

>> Amen.

>> The Bible talks about how beautiful are

the feet of them that preach the gospel

that bring glad tidings of good things.

I'm saying to you that the beauty makes

you distinct.

>> Right?

>> Why is why was he distinct in his

behavior? Why was he distinct in his

birth? Why was he distinct in his

beauty? It's because his father's love.

>> Right?

>> You think about this. His birth was

distinct because his father loved him

more than the rest. His behavior was

distinct because his father loved him

more than the rest. His beauty was

distinct because his father loved him

more than the rest. Let me say this to

you this this morning, young people. I

know this ain't normally how I preach,

okay? But y'all hang with me. All right?

You just remember God loves you

>> more than anybody else. Right.

>> You say, "Preacher, if he loves

everybody the same, but he loves me like

I was his only child." That's that's the

thing. See, he loves us all maximum.

>> You're right.

>> He couldn't love us more. He couldn't

love us less. God loves us all to the

maximum. And if it had been just for me,

you know what? He just sent Christ to

die at Calvary.

>> Amen. And so, he loves me. You know why?

My my behavior ought to be distinct. My

birth is distinct. My behavior ought to

be distinct. And my beauty ought to be

distinct. I'm not talking about

physically. Amen. I'm talking about I've

been arrayed. I've been robed IN THE

RIGHTEOUSNESS OF JESUS CHRIST and the

coat of MANY COLORS IS UPON MY LIFE

BECAUSE IT'S BEEN GIVEN TO ME. HEY,

JOSEPH DIDN'T HAVE ANY BEAUTY TO MAKE

HIM DISTINCT IN HIMSELF. BUT IT WAS THAT

COAT THAT HIS FATHER PUT ON HIM.

SOMEBODY HELP ME PREACH THIS MORNING.

I'M SAYING HE WAS DISTINCT. AND BECAUSE

OF THAT, HIS brethren hated him. The

world will hate you

>> for your distinction,

>> but bear to be different.

>> Be that kid that brings their Bible to

the lunchroom.

>> Amen.

>> Be that kid that has a New Testament in

their pocket. Be that kid that MORE THAN

APPS AND GOOGLE AND EVERYTHING ELSE ON

YOUR PHONE, HAVE BIBLE ON THERE AND HAVE

BOOKS ON THERE TO STUDY THE WORD OF GOD.

SET YOURSELF APART FROM THE WORLD IN

YOUR TIME. LET YOUR TIME BE GIVEN TO GOD

AND HIS WORD AND PRAYER AND TO CHURCH

AND MEETINGS AND MINISTRIES. FIGURE OUT

HOW YOU CAN SERVE. FIGURE OUT HOW YOU

CAN STAND FOR GOD. BE DIFFERENT THAN THE

WORLD.

>> You say, "Preacher, I don't like that as

a parent." Well, let me tell you, THIS

WORLD'S GOING TO DIE AND GO TO HELL IF

SOME kids don't get different. You're

>> right.

>> You know why? Because you're not trying

to be different.

>> I can't reach you. Preachers been

preaching to you 30 years before I come.

But I can reach them. They're listening.

>> Yes.

>> Why is that? People are hard-hearted.

>> Come on.

>> I hit a stump right there. But it's the

truth.

>> I want to reach them because I want them

to know they don't have to live through

what their parents live through. THEY

DON'T HAVE TO LIVE THROUGH THE MESS THAT

THEIR FRIENDS AND THEIR FAMILY GO

THROUGH. THEY CAN HAVE A BETTER LIFE.

THEY CAN HAVE A DIFFERENT BEHAVIOR. THEY

CAN HAVE A DIFFERENT BEAUTY. HEY,

THERE'S A PURITY THAT THEY CAN KEEP AND

REMAIN. WOULD SOMEBODY SAY AMEN IN THE

BUILDING? DON'T YOU WANT YOUR CHILDREN

TO BE ABLE TO GO TO THE MARRIAGE ALTAR

PURE? WOULD SOME DADDY SAY AMEN THIS

MORNING? I'M SAYING THERE OUGHT TO BE A

DISTINCTION. WE OUGHT TO BE DIFFERENT

THAN THIS WORLD. AMEN.

>> YOU'RE RIGHT.

>> We ought to be different. We ought to be

distinct. The world will hate you for

it.

>> But I'll tell you what, there's a

blessing from it.

>> Amen.

>> His distinction his distinction was his

was his father's love. They hated him.

You just know when the world picks on

you and mocks you for the way you live

and how you act, you just know that your

God loves you.

>> Amen.

>> Your father loves you.

>> And if everybody else walks out on you,

just remember that he's going to be

there.

>> They hated him because of his

distinction. They hated him not only

because of his distinction, but they

also hated him because of his

declaration. Look what the Bible says in

verse number four. And when his brethren

saw that their father loved him more

than all his brethren, they they hated

him and could not speak peacefully unto

them. Now here here's what's

interesting. The world has always got so

much to say,

>> right?

>> But every bit of it nasty,

>> notice that it says they hated him more

and they could not. It was physically

impossible for them to speak peacefully

unto them. Here's a good measure. When

you know that the world is completely

against you, just know you're probably

going in the right direction.

>> Amen. When society says you're a fool

and you're crazy, you've lost your mind,

just know you probably hit it in the

right way. Amen. If you're walking by

that book and everybody, the devil, your

family, your friends, everybody else

looks at you and says you're crazy.

>> Just know you probably right.

>> Amen.

>> Amen. If you're following this book,

you're not probably right. You are

right. Somebody say amen. Verse number

five, look what he says. And Joseph

dreamed a dream, and he told it his

brethren, and they hated him yet the

more. The world hates Jesus because of

his distinction. The world's going to

hate the church because of its

distinction. But I'll say this, the

world hate hates Jesus because of his

declaration.

>> Yeah.

>> Look what the Bible says in verse six.

And he said unto them, "Hear I pray you

this dream which I dreamed. For behold,

we were binding sheav in the field. And

lo, my sheep arose and also stood

upright. And behold, your sheep stood

round about and made obedience to my

sheath. You see, he was distinct because

of his father's love. But I'll say this,

he had a declaration because he was

faithful to listen.

>> Say, what do you mean? Well, notice the

text again. Look what he says. Verse

number five. And Joseph dreamed a dream.

Now, I want you to know this morning.

You're not going to have a dream. Okay?

You might have a dream, but I wouldn't

trust him. Okay? Let me just say this to

you. God dealt with dreams. this way cuz

they didn't have a whole Bible.

>> You're right.

>> We got a Bible here.

>> Amen.

>> Amen. And so, you know what them dreams

represent?

>> Represent that book right there.

>> Right.

>> And the Bible says, "And Joseph dreamed

a dream." You see this dream that Joseph

had, he would have he could have chose

to keep that to himself. Now, remember,

he's distinct. Ain't that right?

>> He's distinct. He's distinct in his

birth. He's distinct in his behavior.

He's distinct in his beauty. And so

because of that, Amen. He had a dream.

>> Right?

>> You don't read none of these other boys

having a dream, do you?

>> Right.

>> Think about this. All right. If we're

born again, you're saved by the grace of

God. You're distinct. You've been set

apart by Jesus Christ.

>> You know what you have

>> on the inside.

>> Amen.

>> Man, I tell you, I love this. When when

a young gets saved and they have no clue

about the word of God, they've never

heard nothing. They don't know anything.

And you know what? You see them a day or

two later and you talk to them, they

say, "Well, I just there's just some

things I was doing. It just didn't feel

right anymore."

>> That's right.

>> Nobody's told them anything.

>> Come on.

>> Nobody said anything to them. It's

because the Holy Ghost on the inside

said

>> that's right.

>> But something on the inside says, "Nope.

That ain't right no more.

>> Come on.

>> Don't feel right. That ain't right.

Don't do that." No. Nobody's heard any

They ain't heard no word of God about

nothing. I tell you what, ain't it good

when the word reinforces that?

>> Amen. Joseph has this dream. I'll tell

you this. If you're saved by the grace

of God, you will have the spirit of God

speak to you. You're right.

>> Amen. And you better be faithful to

listen.

>> Amen.

>> Amen. What was his dream? What was his

declaration? Number one, his declaration

of is of what he would become. Oh, I

love this. For behold, we were binding

sheav in the field. And lo, notice this.

My sheath arose. Now, I'm going to take

time out right there for just a minute.

Why the world hates Jesus? They hate him

because of his distinction, but they

hate him because of his declaration.

>> You know what the Jews choked on every

time Jesus preached.

>> Come on.

>> Was that when he come to this earth, he

said he said you, he said, you tear this

temper down three days, I'll raise it up

again.

>> Amen. And what did Joseph say? He said,

he said, I had a dream. He said, my

sheath arose.

>> Yeah.

>> You know what the world hated about

Jesus declaration? He told him said,

"Hey, I'm going to get up again."

>> You're right.

>> You don't have to get in on that. Amen.

If you don't want to. Amen. But I'm just

going to tell you, I about shouted the

roof off my house when I read that. Say,

"Preacher, that ain't literal." But it

fits. Somebody say, "Amen." What did

Jesus say to Nicodemus? He said, or he

said to the disciples in chapter 12, he

said, "Except a corn of wheat fall into

the ground and die, it abideth alone.

But if it die, it bringeth forth much

much fruit." What does it be doing? IT

BE THAT SHE AMEN. That corn OF WHEAT BE

SPRINGING UP. AMEN. OH FRIEND, what I'm

saying, Jesus told Nicodemus, HE SAID,

"NOW, IF I BE LIFTED UP, I'll draw all

men unto me." I'M SAYING HE WAS LIFTED

UP. HE AROSE. WHY? BECAUSE HE SAID HE

WOULD. AMEN. GOD SAID HE WOULD GET UP

AND HE DID. AND YOU KNOW WHAT? THEY

HATED HIM FOR THAT.

>> YES.

>> I tell you this, church, youngans, the

world hates you because of what you're

going to become.

>> Yes. That's good.

>> You see, if you're faithful to listen,

the sky is the limit.

>> Amen.

>> That's that's what I love about this

thing. You don't have to be a great

ortor.

>> Yeah.

>> You don't have to be great at anything.

All you have to do is be good listener.

>> Amen.

>> Amen. And let the Holy Ghost of God.

Take that book speak to your heart. And

you know what'll happen? Them dreams in

your life will become reality.

>> Amen.

>> Amen. What I'm saying is in our terms,

faith will become sight. Hallelujah.

Bless his name. They hated him because

his declaration was of what he would

become. But I'll tell you this, they

hated him because his declaration was

not only of what he would become, but

it's how they would bow to him. Notice

what the Bible said in verse 7. And lo,

my she arose. I can't get past that.

Amen. Hallelujah. He's alive. He got up.

Somebody say amen.

>> And also stood upright. He's still

standing at the right hand of God.

Hallelujah. Verse number seven. And

behold, your she stood round about and

made obedience unto my sheath.

They hated him because of what he what

he said he would become. But they also

hated him because he told them how they

were going to bow. You know why the

world hates Jesus? Because everything

that he said about himself was true and

is going to happen.

>> Yes, sir.

>> But the world hates Jesus because

everything he said about the world is

true

>> and is going to happen. Yeah.

>> The world doesn't want to hear the fact

that every knee shall bow.

>> Amen.

>> And every tongue that shall confess that

Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God

the Father. I'm saying the truth is this

morning they don't want to receive that

message.

>> Amen.

>> You know what? When you were lost, you

didn't want to receive it either.

>> Right.

>> Amen. Cuz that means you are wrong.

>> Amen.

>> You know what I see a problem with in

this damn time? People are unwilling to

separate from things they have done for

their entire life just because they've

done it for that long.

>> Doesn't matter whether it's right or

not.

>> Come on.

>> Amen. They're unwilling to follow THE

BIBLE. WELL, WE'VE ALWAYS DONE it that

way. Well, WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY?

>> AMEN.

>> WELL, SUCH AND SUCH TAUGHT ME THIS. WHAT

DOES THE BIBLE SAY? Where is the final

authority? Listen to me this morning.

When it comes to our life, your and

mine, faith and practice, EVERY PART OF

WHAT WE DO AND WHO WE ARE F RISES AND

FALLS on this Bible. And the truth is

your life, everything rises and falls on

leadership. And so what's your

leadership?

>> Come on.

>> Who's leading you?

>> LET ME ASK YOU THIS. WHAT'S leading you?

>> Is tradition leading you or is truth

leading you?

>> Amen.

>> You see these boys here in this text,

you know what they were doing? They were

following tradition. They were acting

just like their daddy.

>> Come on.

>> That's right.

>> Amen.

>> ALL THEM BROTHERS. AMEN. WHAT WAS THEIR

PROBLEM? THEY ACTED JUST LIKE JACOB AND

ESAU. FULL OF HATRED AND FULL OF MALICE.

FULL OF BITTERNESS and and scheming and

conniving ALL THE TIME. THEY WERE

FOLLOWING in tradition. Tradition is

nothing but a dead end ditch.

>> Truth is where you'll find life.

>> Amen.

>> And Joseph here has given them truth.

You know why they didn't like it?

Because it was new.

>> You're right.

>> Well, daddy didn't tell us that.

>> Daddy didn't tell us that you were going

to reign over us.

Isaac, grandpa didn't say that you were

going to reign over us. Jacob's had a

dream for himself.

>> You know what, young people? Listen to

me. There's going to be truth that God

shows you in your life that your mom and

daddy haven't even seen.

>> You're right.

>> Boy, I wish somebody hook up with this

brother Rick. I'm telling you this

morning. Here's what I'm telling you.

Okay.

They hated him because of his

declaration. If you're saved, you going

to have to tell somebody.

>> You're right.

>> And if you're saved, you going to have

to show somebody you're living right.

You going to have to tell them why you

don't do some things. You're right. When

they invite you to go to the party and

get drunk and do all the other things

that go along with that, you're going to

have to tell them why. Because they're

not going to let you go without asking

you why.

>> Yeah.

>> Why? I'm distinct. And so, I'm going to

declare to you, I have no part in that.

>> I had a dream,

God told me, can't do that.

>> You know what happens when you tell

people that? You know what you're doing?

You're condemning them.

You say, "Preacher, but I don't want to

condemn them." You don't have to. But

when you tell them that you're going a

different way, you know what? In their

heart, they just

>> cuz they hate that.

>> You're right.

>> Flesh hates that.

>> The world's going to hate you for that.

>> The world hated Jesus. For his

declaration of what he would become and

how they would bow to him. You see, this

first dream that he has in verse number

seven represents the famine. He mentions

these sheavs.

Lo, my sheath arose. You know the story

of Joseph goes down the road. Of course

he goes gets sold into slavery at

Potter's house in Potterer's house ends

up in the prison out of the prison into

Pharaoh's palace. And then in Pharaoh's

palace, famine strikes, seven years of

good, seven years of bad. That last

seven years, those those men come, his

family comes down there. You know the

story. And the only place that's got

bread and wheats, Egypt.

>> You're right.

>> And who's over all of it?

>> Joseph.

>> He's telling them that there's a famine

going to come. Joseph doesn't even know

that. Listen to me, young people. Well,

you might you don't even know what

you're doing right now. What God could

be doing in your future. God may be

telling you something right now to

prepare you for what's down the road. I

wish I could tell you some personal

examples, but I ain't got time to deal

with that this morning. I'm telling you,

he'll lead you years down the road.

>> Amen.

>> You're right.

>> He will. His declaration, but it'll only

be if you're faithful. If you're a

faithful listener. Amen. They're They

hate him because of his distinction.

They hate him because of his

declaration. This world hates the

gospel.

>> It's good news to us. It's the power of

God under salvation to them that

believe. But I'll tell you this, it's a

stumbling block

>> to this world. They hate it.

>> But I'll say this and I'm done. They

hate him because of his distinction.

They hate him because of his

declaration. But they hate him the most

because of his dominion.

>> Amen.

>> Because of his dominion. Now he's he's

told them here of the famine. He's

mentioned his family. Notice that in

verse n he dreamed he had another dream

and told it his brethren said, "Behold,

I dreamed a dream more. Behold the son,

the moon, the 11 stars made obedience to

me. The son of course being Jacob, the

moon being his mother, and then the 11

stars are his brethren.

>> And look what Jacob says to him. And

verse number, and he told it, verse 10,

he told to his father, to his brethren,

and his father rebuked him and said unto

him, what is this dream that thou has

dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy

brethren indeed come to bow down

ourselves to thee to the earth? And his

brethren envied him, but his father

observed the same. You see, Joseph here

in the text, he tells him, "Hey boys,

I'm going to be over all of you." He

doesn't say it like that, but Joseph in

humility, he's just a young man. I don't

believe there was an ounce of pride in

Joseph. But he was just telling them,

"Hey, God told me this." Let me say

this, young people. When you tell

somebody something God dealt with your

heart, make sure there's no pride. Yeah.

>> Make sure that just because you're right

doesn't mean you have a right to be uh

just

disrespectful.

>> Amen.

>> We know we're right about what this

Bible says. I'm sure there's things we

miss. Amen. Ain't that right? We're not

perfect,

>> right?

>> But I know that we're close and the

world's going to disagree. But we don't

have to be disrespectful. Let me put

that out there. But I'll say this, the

reason we don't have to be disrespectful

is because here in this text, Joseph his

he was he was he was distinct because of

his father's love. He had a declaration

because of his faithful listening. But

I'll say his dominion represent

represented his future lordship.

You see, Joseph had a future. You know

why the world has a problem with what we

do and who we are? It's because we have

a future,

>> right?

>> They don't have a future.

>> They're living for here and that's it.

They're living for this life and that's

all there is. They have nothing else to

gain. They're no different.

>> They've got nothing to look forward to.

>> And when Joseph's in this in this text,

his dream reveals that they're going to

bow unto him, he's revealing to them

number one, the deity of his position.

And I I want to get I want you to get

this. All right. The world hates Jesus

because he's God.

>> You're right.

>> Amen.

>> They hate that he's going to dominate,

that he's going to have dominion over

all. God has already put all things

under his feet. The Bible says HE IS GOD

IN FLESH AND HE IS DEITY.

>> HIS POSITION IS THE RIGHT HAND OF THE

FATHER AND ALL AUTHORITY IS GIVEN INTO

HIS HANDS. IN REVELATION IN CHAPTER

NUMBER 19 WHEN THE WORLD stands before

him. He said I saw him that SAT ON THE

WHITE THAT WHITE THRONE. HE SAID FROM

WHOSE FACE THE EARTH AND HEAVEN FLED

AWAY AND THERE WAS FOUND NO PLACE FOR

THEM. YOU KNOW WHO THAT WAS? THAT'S

JESUS.

>> AMEN.

>> He is deity is God. HIS POSITION IS ALL

AUTHORITY. AND THEY HATED him for that.

>> RIGHT?

>> THEY HATED JOSEPH BECAUSE OF HIS

AUTHORITY. YOUNG PEOPLE, listen to me.

You are not God. BUT LET ME TELL YOU,

YOU ARE JOINT AIR WITH JESUS CHRIST.

>> RIGHT?

>> You have authority.

>> Amen.

>> Oh my. Could we get a hold to that?

>> Yes.

>> That we have authority

>> in heaven.

>> Amen.

>> You say, "Preacher, can I make decisions

for God?" No, YOU CAN MAKE DECISIONS

WITH GOD.

>> AMEN.

>> OH, did anybody hear that? Amen.

>> We have a divine guidance.

>> The deity of his position thing about

this, not only the duty of his position,

but the divinity of his power. Joseph

was going to have power and be second in

command over all the land.

>> Right?

>> It was God-given power.

>> Yes.

>> God endued him with that power. What do

we have?

>> Come on.

>> What was the GREAT COMMISSION? SOMEBODY

TELL ME. ACTS CHAPTER 1 and verse NUMBER

Acts 1 · chapter mention

EIGHT. YE SHALL RECEIVE POWER

>> AFTER THAT THE HOLY GHOST HAS COME UPON

YOU. YOU THINK ABOUT JESUS. JESUS HAD

ALL POWER on this earth.

>> Right?

>> God had invested him with all the power

and order that HE MIGHT BRING REDEMPTION

AND SALVATION TO THE HUMAN RACE. AND

BECAUSE OF THAT, THE WORLD HATED HIM.

THE WORLD HATED HIM BECAUSE OF HIS

DOMINION. THE WORLD HATED HIM BECAUSE OF

HIS DEATH.

>> RIGHT. They hated the fact that he would

die sacrificially. When they when they

put him on the cross, they couldn't kill

him. But as they thought they were

killing him, they're thinking, "Well,

this man thinks he's dying for the sins

of all."

>> Come on.

>> And what they didn't know that he was.

>> Amen.

>> They hated him the more for that. You're

>> right.

>> When you give your life a sacrifice

under Jesus Christ to live for him, the

world's going to look at you and say,

"Oh, they think they're just better than

us just because they're living for God."

>> No. You know what the truth is? We know

we're not.

>> Amen.

We know at the end of the DAY THAT

THERE'S NOTHING GOOD IN US. WE KNOW THAT

THERE'S NOTHING WORTHY, THAT THERE'S

NOTHING BLESSED OTHER THAN WHAT GOD HAS

GIVEN US.

>> We have divine power.

We have position with God. But I'll say

this, I promise I'm done right here.

They hated his dominion because of his

deity, because of his divinity. They

hated his his dominion because of the

deliverance

>> of his people.

You see, Joseph would have to reign in

order that they might be spared. You

see, his entire family would have

starved, would have had nothing and been

left for dead,

>> right?

>> If it had not been for Joseph having

dominion.

And you say, "Preacher, well, in my

life, I don't see all of it right now. I

don't see everything that you're telling

me." Well, let me just give you this.

Joseph's still at home.

>> You're right.

>> None of this has happened. Joseph is

just being told this. Matter of fact,

he's just been told this in a dream, but

he believes it. He believes it enough

that he's willing to tell his brethren.

Oh, somebody hear the preacher this

morning. What's happened to us, WHAT

WE'VE HEARD, WE OUGHT TO BELIEVE IT

ENOUGH TO TELL IT TO SOMEBODY ELSE.

>> And he WAS GOING TO BE THE one that

would bring deliverance. But you see IN

THIS TEXT THOUGH, HE WOULD BE THE ONE

THAT would bring deliverance. this same

chapter, his brethren deliver him to be

stripped, to be scorned, and to be

slain. You're

>> right.

>> You say, "Preacher, they didn't kill

him, but they wanted to."

>> You're right.

>> They would have if Reuben hadn't talked

him out of it. Let me give you this. All

right. When Jesus came to this earth,

you know what? People thought his mother

thought he was going to reign.

>> You're right.

>> But you know what? He was spitting upon.

He was stripped.

>> Yeah. Joseph was stripped of his

garment. He was thrown in the pit. Jesus

went to the cal went to Calvary. He

didn't have he didn't go to hell. Amen.

But he suffered death. The pit of death.

That sting for us. But you know what?

Joseph went through all of that so he

could save his brethren.

>> Amen.

>> Jesus went through all of that so he

could save the church.

>> Amen.

>> Let me say this to you, child of God.

There may be people in your life that'll

never hear the gospel if you don't give

it.

>> You're right.

>> I'm saying the suffering that you go

through,

>> come on,

>> in this life, the problems that you

face, the situations, the agony, all the

dysfunction, all of the defilement, all

of that stuff that we deal with, God

might be using that just so you can

deliver somebody.

>> Amen.

I'm going to tell you why the world

hates Jesus.

Because he brought deliverance.

>> You say, "Preacher, why is it that they

hate him?" Because of his deliverance.

I'll be honest with you. I really don't

understand it on this side. But I know

in my flesh, here's what I know. In

order to receive deliverance, you've got

to recognize that you need it.

>> All right?

>> And the reason the world hates his

deliverance is because they say this,

"Jesus, I don't need that." Yeah.

>> The Bible says, "The fool hath said in

his heart, there is no God."

>> Amen.

>> But if you read the original manuscript,

it says this, "The foolath said in his

heart, no God.

No,

I don't want what you have." And you

know what? That's what every atheist

says.

>> Amen.

>> They can't say there's no God.

You know what they say? No,

God.

You know what I watch people do week in

and week out in this church?

>> Come on.

>> No.

No.

The world hates Jesus because he's

distinct. Because he's got a

declaration. I'm thankful it's still

sounding.

>> Amen.

>> Paul said, "I delivered unto you first

of all that which I also received." That

declaration is still being given.

>> I'll tell you this, one of these days,

his dominion's going to be finalized.

Amen.

>> Amen.

>> Every sinner that will be saved will be

saved. And everyone that says no,

>> will die and go to hell.

>> Amen.

>> Every head bowed and every eye closed.

Christians are praying. I want to ask

you this morning.

The world hates Jesus

because he calls on them and says, "You

need what I have to offer."

Joseph's brethren hated Jesus or hated

Joseph because

Joseph was telling him, "You're going to

need me."

Listen to me this morning, sinner. If

you turn God away again and say, "I

don't need what you have to offer,"

you're going to realize that you should

have took it one of these days.

If this is the last chance and you walk

out of here lost, here's what you're

going to find out. You're going to find

out that at the very end of this thing,

you really did need that gospel.

>> You really did need that salvation that

preacher preached about. You really did

need that forgiveness. You really did

need that mercy and that grace. You

needed that spirit on the inside. You're

going to realize you needed every bit of

that.

But I tell you what's more sad than that

is somebody to say, "No, I don't need

it." Here's what's more sad than that.

You say, "Preacher, how could anything

be more sad than that?" And here I'll

tell you is for you to sit here this

morning and know you need it.

>> Yes.

>> And know that you need salvation and

know that you need the grace of God, but

yet TURN AND WALK OUT OF HERE BEING

WILLFULLY ignorant

of his grace.

>> Amen.

>> And saying, "Preacher, I know that I I

need that, but I don't want it."

I pray to God in heaven that there's

nobody here that's like that this

morning.

You say, "Preacher,

I need to be saved."

Would you pray for me? Ain't nobody

looking around but me. I want to ask

you, do you need to be saved this

morning? Would you be honest when you

and God? Preacher, I need to be saved.

Slip your hand up and back down. I want

to pray for you. Preacher, I'm not

saved.

Say, "Preacher, why you do this every

week?" cuz I don't want to miss a

service without giving somebody a

chance.

>> You see, God wouldn't lead me to preach

these messages if somebody wasn't here

lost.

>> Amen.

>> And furthermore, your life tails on you.

You're either lost or you're out of the

will of God. Far, far out of the will of

God.

Preacher, would you pray for me? I'm

just I'm not sure.

God will appreciate your honesty.

I appreciate your honesty, preacher. I'm

not sure. Would you pray for me? Anybody

be honest? Slip your hand up. Hold it

up. Preacher. I'm not sure.

Let me say this to you this morning,

child of God.

We've been called to be distinct.

And here's the thing about it. The world

may not see what you have as beautiful.

The world not may not notice your

behavior being different.

And the world may not recognize your

birth. But I'll tell you this, you got a

declaration that you can give.

Not about a dream that you've had, but

about an experience you had with God.

That's what Joseph's experience was. He

had a place in his life where God spoke

to him.

You know what you can tell others for

the rest of your life? God saved me and

he's given me his word and he speaks to

me each and every day. You say,

"Preacher, I want to be that one to tell

others

what he's done for me, how he spoke to

me." Preacher, I want to be that one.

Anybody

preacher? I want to be that one.

God sees that hand, buddy.

Let me tell you, you ought to slip your

hand up if you want to be that way.

One person

One young man bold enough say,

"Preacher, you know I want to do that."

Well, how can I expect you to do it out

there if you won't even slip your hand

up in here?

>> Yes.

>> Let's try that again, preacher.

I want to be the one.

Now, make take that resolve.

Take it with you out those doors. Cuz

you know what you going to have to do?

You going to have to fight the flesh.

>> Amen. just like you just did.

And I'm going to be real honest with

you. It's a lot easier in here than it

is out there.

Father, I pray Lord, you give us all

holy boldness,

Lord. Cuz I know that the world

hates you.

But Lord, you told us to not be marveled

by that.

But Lord, to know that it hated you

before it hated us.

God, I'm so thankful that though the

world spurn us, scorn us, and reject us,

we have entrance into your throne, we

have a future,

>> Lord, I don't have a

concern about where my soul will be when

I take my last breath. God, I'll finally

be where I belong. In a place of perfect

perfection and holiness.

Where there won't have to be any more

preaching for people to get right.

Where there won't have to be any more

constraining for people to serve.

Nor where every heart will be willing to

sing and to serve and to stand and sing

your praise for eternity. God, I pray

that you'd salvage the church in these

days. God, seems so few are interested.

Lord, I pray you'd bring revival.

Grant it, Jesus, I pray. We ask it in

your son's name.

Amen.
