  8. God.

  9. >> Amen. Well, good morning, church family.

  10. Hope you're having a good day in the

  11. Lord and appreciate you tuning in here

  12. with us uh to our Facebook YouTube

  13. broadcast for today and I wanted to be

  14. able to have church today. Didn't want

  15. to miss out on nothing and uh weather's

  16. just caused us pretty much be shut down

  17. and it's pretty nasty and yucky out

  18. there, but I'm thankful the Lord allowed

  19. us to make it in to have live service

  20. here this morning. And I appreciate you

  21. tuning in with us. I will say if you

  22. would uh go ahead and share uh the video

  23. uh whatever platform you're on, let them

  24. get the word out. Let them know, let our

  25. church know that we're having this if

  26. they didn't know already. And uh and

  27. we'll have share a portion of a chapter

  28. word of God today and give you a little

  29. message. And this is going to be

  30. different for me. So y'all bear with me,

  31. but we'll get through it together. But I

  32. want to share some word with you today

  33. and have a time of prayer. And so I've

  34. got uh here on the pull pit with me,

  35. I've got the live stream going. So, if

  36. you have a prayer request or something

  37. uh you'd like to uh make mention of, uh

  38. you can put that in the comments there.

  39. And I know everybody can see that there

  40. on the comments. And so, if you have a

  41. prayer request you'd like to share

  42. anything like that, um it is delayed a

  43. little bit, so I may not see it on here,

  44. but I did want to let you know that uh

  45. that way our church family can be

  46. praying. Uh but do like and share the

  47. video uh so we can get it out there to

  48. as many uh as we can. and uh got some

  49. some already coming up on here. So, uh I

  50. appreciate you tuning in with us. Uh but

  51. if you have a Bible, I invite you to go

  52. ahead and be find your place, the Gospel

  53. of John, if you'd like to. Gospel of

  54. John, chapter 16, and we'll go there in

    John 16 chapter mention

  55. just a minute. Uh but do want to make

  56. mention of a couple of announcements. Um

  57. you know, yesterday, uh we were supposed

  58. to have soul win and visitation uh on

  59. yesterday, but we had to we moved that

  60. just due to the extreme cold

  61. temperatures. uh didn't want anybody get

  62. mad at us knocking on their door

  63. yesterday. And so we're going to

  64. reschedu that to this coming Saturday

  65. and this coming Saturday the 31st. And

  66. so uh it's 10:00 the 31st we have

  67. visitation. And hard to believe January

  68. is already coming to a close uh but here

  69. we are. And so remember that on the

  70. 31st. And then uh do remember if you

  71. haven't already for those that's going

  72. on the marriage conference February the

  73. 23rd through the 25th if you haven't

  74. already uh go ahead and reserve your

  75. room. Uh you need to have that done

  76. before February comes around. And so

  77. that gives you about a week there to get

  78. your room reserved. Remember the rooms

  79. are booked under MBC. Okay? And so

  80. remember that if you would please and

  81. that'll be here before you know it as

  82. well. And then the first week there,

  83. February, uh we'll have uh ladies

  84. fellowship, men's fellowship, ladies the

  85. 2nd, men's the 5th, and then our ladies

  86. shopping trip there on the 7th. And so

  87. if you would remember all of that and

  88. we'll let you know kind of as the

  89. weather progresses uh this week what we

  90. decide to do. Um I do know that this

  91. coming Wednesday um probably going to be

  92. really hard for us to have a service

  93. just with the temperatures forecasting

  94. like they are. And so we'll keep you

  95. posted and but we just want to make sure

  96. everybody's safe and uh and if you can

  97. I'll say this, make sure you got

  98. everything uh with you. I hope you

  99. already done that. But I'll say this,

  100. try not to get out as much as you can

  101. just traveling in. Uh me and Brother

  102. Randall's here. Uh we the roads are bad.

  103. So uh if you would just stay at home,

  104. stay safe with your family and uh we'll

  105. say more about that in just a few

  106. minutes. Uh but do remember these

  107. announcements and be praying uh for the

  108. upcoming events at the church. uh the

  109. marriage conference as well uh as

  110. revival be coming up there in the month

  111. of March and so be praying about that as

  112. well the 9th through the 13th. Okay. And

  113. so got several request of prayer here.

  114. We'll look at for just a minute. Uh do

  115. continue to pray um for brother Donnie

  116. and sister Sarah Joe Abbott. Continue to

  117. pray for them. See that comment on

  118. there. And like I said, there is

  119. probably a little bit of a delay uh to

  120. my screen from what the live feed is. Uh

  121. but do remember them. Uh remember Miss

  122. Tracy Fortune's uh daughter and her

  123. surgery. Do remember that. And uh

  124. remember these requests. There's several

  125. on here. I'm not going to be able to get

  126. to everybody. And so you see the

  127. comments there. Just make sure to take

  128. time to pray and uh we'll say more about

  129. that in just a minute as we get to the

  130. message. Uh but do if you haven't

  131. already shared the video, go on there

  132. and share the video and get it out so we

  133. can get as many people on here with us

  134. as we can. John chapter 16 is where

    John 16 chapter mention

  135. we'll be. And so we'll go to the Lord in

  136. a word of prayer uh this morning. And do

  137. remember uh you missionaries, pray for

  138. them and pray for our country. God will

  139. help us. And we definitely need his

  140. help. We're living in cold times, not

  141. just the weather. Amen. Uh our world is

  142. very cold and dark. We need God's help.

  143. And so remember to pray for our country

  144. and our leadership. And pray for the

  145. churches during this time. pray for each

  146. other and those uh need safety during

  147. this time. They're working out on the

  148. roads trying to get everything as well

  149. as the linemen, linemen. So remember

  150. them as well. All right, let's go to the

  151. Lord in prayer and ask him to help us as

  152. we look in the word of God and like I

  153. said there on the announcements for

  154. this. We're not going to take a whole

  155. lot of your time. Just wanted to share

  156. uh sort of a devotional thought with you

  157. and pray that God would help us. But

  158. let's pray and ask the Lord to help us

  159. this morning. There is a lot of prayer

  160. requests on here and so if you would

  161. just remember those each of those in

  162. prayer. Got several on here. Continue to

  163. pray for all those on the prayer list at

  164. the church uh as well. All right, let's

  165. pray together this morning. If you could

  166. bow where you're at there and let's pray

  167. and ask the Lord to help us. Our father,

  168. uh we come before you today. Thank you

  169. for the privilege uh that we have, Lord,

  170. to uh still be able to have church

  171. today. God, I I thank you for the gift

  172. of of modern technology. Lord, we know

  173. it's not perfect. Uh but Lord, we know

  174. otherwise we wouldn't have been able to

  175. have church today. And so God, I want to

  176. say thank you for that and thank you for

  177. this these means uh that we have to

  178. worship you and gather around the word

  179. of God still. And Lord, I pray that you

  180. would help us give us wisdom today as we

  181. have gathered here uh around the word of

  182. God uh to study and to share truth this

  183. morning. I pray that you will bless the

  184. listener. God, I pray for these many

  185. requests of prayer uh that's been

  186. mentioned. You know each and every one

  187. of them. And uh God, I pray that you

  188. would touch and bless in every

  189. situation. God, you know the needs. And

  190. Lord, we pray for each one this morning.

  191. Our church, God, still recovering um

  192. from different procedures, surgeries,

  193. things of that nature. God, that you

  194. would be with them and help them. And

  195. Lord, I ask you that you would help us

  196. today as we share the word of God for

  197. just a little while. Uh God, it's

  198. different. My flesh doesn't like it. But

  199. God, I know that this what you want us

  200. to do today. And so, God, I pray you'd

  201. help us, rid us of the flesh, and use us

  202. for your glory and speak to every heart.

  203. I pray God you'll take this time and use

  204. it for your glory and honor. And Lord,

  205. we pray you'd keep your hand about those

  206. that are traveling, uh those that are

  207. working to clean up the roads, as well

  208. as those that'll be working on power

  209. lines. Pray you'd watch over them. And

  210. uh please protect each one of our church

  211. folk and be with them during this time.

  212. And we want to say thank you. Thank you

  213. for allowing us this privilege. Thank

  214. you for the blood of Jesus and for

  215. saving my soul from hell. Lord, I love

  216. you. Thank you so much for all that you

  217. do for us. would you help us this

  218. morning and give us grace. We ask it in

  219. Jesus name. Amen. Amen. John chapter 16,

    John 16 chapter mention

  220. if you have a Bible and just share a

  221. thought here with you the Lord put on my

  222. heart and had some time to meditate here

  223. the last few days and I just pray that

  224. the Lord would give us something maybe

  225. we could share to be a blessing to you.

  226. And I know we got many different outlets

  227. here that you'll be watching on. some uh

  228. YouTube, some on Facebook, this will

  229. probably be on a podcast uh later. And

  230. so um whatever outlet you're listening

  231. to us from, we want to say thank you for

  232. tuning in with us. And so if you have a

  233. Bible, sit down with us and get get you

  234. a cup of coffee if you need today, man.

  235. We'll read the word of God and study for

  236. just a minute of time here. John chapter

    John 16 chapter mention

  237. 16. I want to begin reading in verse

  238. number one. And we'll give you the

  239. thought here in just a moment. John 16

  240. verse number one. The Bible says, "These

  241. things have I spoken unto you, that ye

  242. should not be offended. They shall put

  243. you out of the synagogues. Yay, the time

  244. cometh, that whosoever kleth you will

  245. think that he doeth God's service. These

  246. things will they do unto you, because

  247. they have not known the Father, nor me.

  248. But these things have I told you, that

  249. when the time shall come, you may

  250. remember that I told you them. These

  251. things I said not unto you at the

  252. beginning, because I was with you. But

  253. now I go my way to him that sent me, and

  254. none of you askketh me, whether goest

  255. thou? But because I have said these

  256. things unto you, sorrow hath filled your

  257. heart. Nevertheless, I tell you the

  258. truth. It is expedient for you that I go

  259. away. For if I go not away, the

  260. comforter will not come unto you. But if

  261. I depart, I will send him unto you. And

  262. when he has come, he will reprove the

  263. world of sin and of righteousness and of

  264. judgment. Of sin because they believe

  265. not on me. Of righteousness because I go

  266. to my father and you see me no more. Of

  267. judgment because the prince of this

  268. world is judged. Verse 12, he says, "I

  269. have yet many things to say unto you,

  270. but you cannot bear them now. How be it,

  271. when he, the Spirit of truth, has come,

  272. he will guide you into all truth. For he

  273. shall not speak of himself, but

  274. whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he

  275. speak, and he will show you things to

  276. come. He shall glorify me, for he shall

  277. receive of mine, and shall show it unto

  278. you. All things that the Father hath are

  279. mine. Therefore said I, that he shall

  280. take of mine, and shall show it unto

  281. you. A little while and ye shall not see

  282. me. And again, a little while and ye

  283. shall see me because I go to the father.

  284. Now, the thought this morning that the

  285. Lord's put on my heart for this time

  286. period, uh he's given us here to just

  287. study the word of God for a moment of

  288. time is based there out of verse number

  289. seven where the Bible says Jesus says,

  290. he said, "I'll tell you the truth. It's

  291. expedient for you that I go away. For if

  292. I go not away, the comforter will not

  293. come unto you." And I want to talk for

  294. just a few moments of time about the

  295. ministry of the Holy Spirit. About the

  296. ministry of the Holy Spirit. Now, uh

  297. this time period, what we're what we're

  298. living through today. Of course, we're

  299. not gathered here uh in the sanctuary

  300. this morning. Uh but I was thinking

  301. about this preparing this this message

  302. and what God had uh put on my heart for

  303. this particular uh time today. I want to

  304. share with you that we've been gifted.

  305. Uh each and every day is a gift. We know

  306. that that the Lord has blessed us with

  307. the opportunity to serve uh in the

  308. capacity of each and every day allows us

  309. different opportunities. And I'll say

  310. this about that today. Um you may feel

  311. like you're pretty much locked up where

  312. you're at uh there at home. But I want

  313. to say this, in our day and time, this

  314. might be the best thing that's happened

  315. for some of you. And uh what I mean by

  316. that is it's took you away from all your

  317. business. It's uh slowed you down a

  318. little bit. And uh because of that, I

  319. want to just say a few things concerning

  320. that. And then I'll give you some

  321. thoughts here concerning the ministry of

  322. the Holy Spirit. Many times the

  323. busyiness of our life is what hinders us

  324. from hearing his voice. We are so

  325. cumbered about by many things. We've got

  326. plans and things that are going on in

  327. our lives. We're busy with work. We're

  328. busy with school. We're busy uh in all

  329. factors of life. And we we insert church

  330. there and put that on the list as well.

  331. And then if we have time for the other

  332. ministries that God uh wants us to do,

  333. we'll do that when we have time. We show

  334. what our priorities really are. And I

  335. want to say that during this time uh

  336. that we've been given where it looks

  337. like we're going to have several days of

  338. quietness. I want to say embrace the

  339. embrace the silence. And uh I think I

  340. think God has given us this time period.

  341. I think we can use it uh in such a way

  342. that'll help us if we'll allow it to. Uh

  343. but God wants to speak to us. And now we

  344. know this. The church knows that God

  345. wants to speak to us every day of our

  346. life. He expects us to have daily

  347. fellowship uh with him. And uh many

  348. times I know myself there's many days

  349. that because of busyness even I uh

  350. there's some days that I I miss the

  351. prayer closet like I should I always try

  352. to spend some time with the Lord but I

  353. don't always spend enough time. And uh I

  354. I would say for all of us we could agree

  355. this morning that we need to embrace uh

  356. the time that we've been given uh in the

  357. silence. And so I I notice in this the

  358. the thought here of the text Jesus is

  359. dealing with a broken people. And I I

  360. mentioned that busyiness can hinder us

  361. from heal from hearing from the Holy

  362. Spirit. But I'll tell you this, our our

  363. own brokenness can hinder us uh from

  364. hearing from the Holy Spirit because the

  365. Bible says in in verse number six of

  366. John 16, Jesus there his disciples are

  367. troubled. And he says because I've said

  368. these things unto you, sorrow hath

  369. filled your heart. You see, he's he's

  370. he's made them aware of the fact that

  371. the world is not going to accept them.

  372. Rather, the world is going to reject

  373. them and their ministry. He's not

  374. they're not going to be welcome. Their

  375. welcome map's not going to be rolled

  376. out. The red carpet is not going to be

  377. placed before them. They're going to be

  378. rejected because Christ was rejected.

  379. And and he says, because I've said that,

  380. you know, I'm going away. I'm having to

  381. leave and and you can't go where I'm

  382. coming to. He said, "Because I've told

  383. you all these things," he said, "sorrow

  384. has filled your heart." But he says in

  385. verse 7, notice that first word. He

  386. says, "Nevertheless, I tell you the

  387. truth. It is expedient for you that I go

  388. away." And so, we know that Christ here

  389. in this text is dealing with the fact

  390. that he was headed to Calvary. It's

  391. expedient. It was necessary for him that

  392. he go away because salvation could not

  393. be brought to them if they had not if he

  394. had not went to the cross and went away

  395. for a time. And I'll say more about that

  396. in a minute. But he know he notes a

  397. statement. He makes a statement in verse

  398. 7. He says, "For if I go not away, the

  399. comforter will not come unto you." And

  400. so I was thinking about this truth and

  401. you know busyness hinders us from

  402. hearing from the Holy Spirit. Brokenness

  403. will hinder us from hearing from the

  404. Holy Spirit. And I'll say this, our

  405. burdens, burdens in our life will hinder

  406. us from hearing from the Holy Spirit. we

  407. it'll cause us to be distracted and

  408. busyness will distract us. Brokenness

  409. will surely distract us. But I'll say

  410. this burdens that we have, things that

  411. may not necessarily be a direct problem

  412. in our life, but things that are

  413. affecting us from the outside in, they

  414. can hinder us from hearing from the Holy

  415. Spirit. And Jesus is telling them,

  416. you're broken about this, about what

  417. I've told you. You're burdened by this.

  418. You cannot accept that this is the truth

  419. of my life. This is where I'm headed.

  420. Cal the Calvary is is my purpose. You do

  421. not want to hear that. He said, but I'm

  422. telling you, if I don't go away, the

  423. Holy Spirit cannot come unto you. And I

  424. want to say this, there's so many things

  425. in our life that can hinder the voice of

  426. the Holy Spirit coming to us. But that

  427. does not negate his ministry is still

  428. present. He still wants to work in our

  429. life. He still wants to do in our life,

  430. what he has been purposed, what he's

  431. been placed in our life to do. Now the

  432. Bible teaches us that when you get

  433. saved, the Holy Spirit indwells the

  434. believer. And the great commission tells

  435. us that we would receive power. He told

  436. the disciples that you should receive

  437. power. After that, the Holy Ghost should

  438. come upon you and you shall be witnesses

  439. unto me. And so the work of the Holy

  440. Spirit in our life is so that we might

  441. be a witness for Christ. But but he lays

  442. out here in this text a a three-fold

  443. ministry of the Holy Spirit. And I want

  444. to just give you these truths here

  445. today. And in the slowness of this time

  446. when we most of us are pretty much

  447. homebound for a few days probably, I

  448. want to say make the most of that and uh

  449. take time, read your Bible more than you

  450. ever have. Pray more than you ever have.

  451. Make it a make it a personal thing that

  452. you're going to do more for God in these

  453. days than you ever had. You say,

  454. "Preacher, well, I can't get out and I

  455. can't go to people." Well, I'll tell you

  456. this. Uh the greatest battle is that

  457. battle that's on our knees and it's it's

  458. won in prayer. And uh we need to take

  459. time to pray and spend time with the

  460. Holy Spirit. And I notice first of all

  461. in this the thought the ministry of the

  462. Holy Spirit here. I want to consider the

  463. advocacy of the Holy Spirit there in

  464. verse number seven. He says for if I go

  465. not away the comforter will not come

  466. unto you. Now the the label here is used

  467. for the Holy Spirit. The comforter. Now

  468. we know that word in the Greek is the

  469. pariclete. It means one called alongside

  470. to help. In a literal definition, strong

  471. definition says it's an intercessor or

  472. an advocate. Now, we know the Bible

  473. teaches us according to the book of

  474. first John in chapter number two, if any

  475. man sin, we have an advocate with the

  476. father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And

  477. so, when you think about scripture, the

  478. picture of our advocate, Christ is the

  479. believer's advocate with the father. But

  480. in the like manner, the Holy Spirit is

  481. our advocate with Christ. He is our

  482. minister in the presence of Christ.

  483. Romans chapter 8 tells us that he maketh

    Romans 8 chapter mention

  484. intercession for us with groanings which

  485. cannot be uttered. Those intercessions

  486. are made under unto the son. And so he

  487. is our advocate. I'll say this, you

  488. notice in verse number seven that he is

  489. dispatched from Christ. Look what the

  490. Bible says. If I go not away, the

  491. comforter will not come unto you. But if

  492. I depart, notice this, I will send him

  493. unto you. And so Christ in his

  494. departure, he's going to dispatch the

  495. Holy Spirit. He's telling these men,

  496. "Hey, just because I'm leaving you

  497. behind for a period of time to go to the

  498. cross and then after that I'll be

  499. received up into heaven of my father,

  500. I'm not going to leave you comfortless."

  501. He told them that in John 14. He said,

  502. "I'm not going to leave you comfortless.

  503. I will come to you." And the comforter

  504. is who he was talking about. The Holy

  505. Spirit of God would come. He would be

  506. dispatched and his destination is seen

  507. in verse 7. But if I depart, I will send

  508. him unto you. And so the ministry of the

  509. of the Holy Spirit is personal. And and

  510. this is what I love about this text

  511. because we it teaches us the truth that

  512. Christ had to leave. He was a man bound

  513. in a physical body. God became flesh.

  514. John chapter 1 in verse number 14 tells

    John 1 chapter mention

  515. us that. And so he was limited. Christ

  516. was limited to the elements of the

  517. physical body. He could only be in one

  518. place at one time. He couldn't be in

  519. many places because of his physical

  520. body. And so he wasn't able to operate

  521. in the spiritual realm in the same sense

  522. that he was able to before when he was

  523. in heaven. And so the Holy Spirit was to

  524. come so that he might be with them

  525. always. You see, the disciples were not

  526. always with Jesus. Not at every point in

  527. time. There was times when he had to

  528. depart from them for whatever reason. We

  529. know that Calvary, all the disciples

  530. forsook him and fled. But he was telling

  531. them there was coming a day when Jesus

  532. would be gone. But the Holy Spirit would

  533. come and he would be with them always.

  534. And it goes beyond just the fact that he

  535. would be with them always. He's

  536. dispatched. His destination was unto

  537. them. He said, "I will send him unto

  538. you." But we know from what he told them

  539. in chapter 14 that it's more than that.

  540. It wasn't only that he would uh stay

  541. with them always, but he would be in

  542. them. Notice John chapter 14 and verse

    John 14 chapter mention

  543. 17. Listen to what Jesus says. even the

  544. spirit of truth whom the world cannot

  545. receive because it seeth him not neither

  546. knoweth him but you know him for he

  547. dwelleth with you notice this and shall

  548. be in you and so the promise of the

  549. inddwelling spirit of God was coming to

  550. them and he was trying to tell them hey

  551. it's going to be better from here Jesus

  552. gave them the promise he said greater

  553. works than these shall you do because

  554. I've sent to my father what was that

  555. promise uh stating it was stating that

  556. the Holy Spirit through them would be

  557. able to reach preach more and do more

  558. for the glory of God than even Christ

  559. being among them could do. And it was

  560. Christ's purpose. It was his plan that

  561. the Holy Spirit, the advocate, would

  562. come and dwell in the hearts of the

  563. believer. The book of First John tells

  564. us that there are three that bear record

  565. in heaven. The Father, the Word, and the

  566. Holy Ghost. And there are three that

  567. bear record on the earth. And it's the

  568. spirit, the water, and the blood. And

  569. and so the spirit of God is that one

  570. that witnesses on this earth. He is our

  571. he is dwelling within us. That's why the

  572. Bible says that we are the temple of the

  573. Holy Ghost of God. We're the temple of

  574. God. We've been bought with a price. And

  575. so, he dwells in our heart. He is our

  576. advocate. He answers to Christ

  577. concerning our estate. Now, I want to

  578. remind you of this truth, okay? We have

  579. no ability to speak to Christ apart from

  580. the Holy Spirit. We have no entrance

  581. into the throne room without the power

  582. of the Holy Spirit. Jude talks about

  583. building up yourselves on your most holy

  584. faith, praying in the Holy Ghost. And so

  585. if there is a prayer that is made, it

  586. must be made through the power of the

  587. Holy Spirit. And so thus, he is our

  588. advocate. Romans chapter 8, I want to

    Romans 8 chapter mention

  589. turn you and read this verse to you for

  590. just a minute. You say, "Preacher, how

  591. can I know that he's present in my

  592. life?" Listen to what he says in verse

  593. number 15. Romans chapter number 8,

  594. verse 14 rather. For as many as are led

  595. by the spirit of God, they are the sons

  596. of God. So the spirit leads us. I'll say

  597. more about that in a minute. Verse 15.

  598. For you have not received the spirit of

  599. bondage again to fear, but you have

  600. received the spirit of adoption whereby

  601. we cry aba father. There's the witness

  602. of our heart. We cry unto the Lord. He

  603. is our father. Verse 16, the spirit

  604. itself beareth witness with our spirit

  605. that we are the children of God. And so

  606. the Holy Spirit bears witness with our

  607. human spirit and lets us know that we're

  608. saved. There is a knowledge of the

  609. indwelling spirit of God. Now before man

  610. gets saved, he has a conscience that

  611. gives him a baseline of what's right and

  612. wrong. But you understand when a man

  613. gets saved, the Holy Spirit brings about

  614. a supernatural conscience unto him. And

  615. it causes him to know more than just

  616. what's right and wrong, but it causes

  617. him to know how to do right. You see, a

  618. lost man doesn't know how to do right.

  619. And the Holy Spirit is the one that

  620. would teach us how to do right. He is

  621. our advocate making intercession for us

  622. before the Lord Jesus Christ. And so I

  623. consider the ministry of the Holy

  624. Spirit. And if you want to make these

  625. points here, there's the advocacy here

  626. that's mentioned. And we could say it

  627. this way that he is leading the saints.

  628. We could put it that way. The advocate

  629. in the Holy Spirit. Then I notice not

  630. only the advocacy of the Holy Spirit,

  631. but I notice the admonishing of the Holy

  632. Spirit. Notice verse number eight. And

  633. when he has come, he will reprove the

  634. world of sin and of righteousness and of

  635. judgment. Of sin because they believe

  636. not on me. Of righteousness because I go

  637. to my father and you see me no more. Of

  638. judgment because the prince of this

  639. world is judged. And so the Holy Spirit

  640. was coming unto them personally. In

  641. verse number seven, he said, I will send

  642. him unto you. It would be a personal

  643. presence. But you understand verse

  644. number eight, the presence of the Holy

  645. Ghost in this world. He brings about a

  646. reproof when he comes. It is his

  647. presence that brings about this reproof.

  648. Verse number three, he says he will

  649. reprove the world of sin, of

  650. righteousness, and of judgment. Now that

  651. word reprove means to convince or to

  652. admonish, strong says. And so when he

  653. has come, his literal presence is going

  654. to shed light upon the darkness of this

  655. world. And so what does he what does his

  656. admonishing ministry look like? Well, of

  657. course, the advocacy there is for the

  658. leading of the saints, but his

  659. admonishing is is for to to show sinners

  660. their loss to show how that they are in

  661. darkness. And so I notice this first of

  662. all I consider first of all in his ad

  663. his admonishing ministry. He admonishes

  664. them number one concerning their fa the

  665. fatal sin. Verse number nine, look what

  666. he says. He says he'll reprove the world

  667. sin verse eight of righteousness and of

  668. judgment. Verse nine, the first

  669. description of sin because they believe

  670. not on me. Now, you've heard it said

  671. this way that that sin, all sin, uh, is

  672. forgivable except the unpardonable sin.

  673. Now, I want to say this to you this

  674. morning, and I don't want to be

  675. confusing when I say this, but God has

  676. never once forgiven a sin. All sin has

  677. been judged in the person of Jesus

  678. Christ. If you are saved, Jesus, he he

  679. took your sin. The Bible tells us that

  680. the book of 2 Corinthians chapter 5, he

    2 Corinthians 5 chapter mention

  681. hath made him to be sin for us who knew

  682. no sin that we might be made the

  683. righteousness of God in him. And so

  684. Christ, God has never forgiven us sin,

  685. but he has often forgiven sinners.

  686. That's what Dr. Rudy Smith said and I I

  687. agree with him. And what he's saying

  688. here in verse number nine is he is

  689. labeling the sin of sins. This is the

  690. fatal sin. This is the final sin. so to

  691. speak. What is the sin that condemns men

  692. to hell? It's not adultery. It's not

  693. homosexuality. It's not murder. It's not

  694. any of those sins. But it is the sin of

  695. unbelief. This is the fatal sin. This is

  696. the sin of sins, the mother sin, the

  697. father's sin. And this is where all sin

  698. comes to those that refuse to believe on

  699. the Lord Jesus Christ. And he says that

  700. the Holy Spirit is going to admonish

  701. them concerning this fatal sin that is

  702. unbelief. You understand this morning

  703. does not h matter how good of a person

  704. you are if you do not believe on the

  705. Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible says that

  706. the wrath of God abideth on you. And so

  707. this sin the beginning and the ending of

  708. all sin is unbelief. And so he

  709. admonishes them concerning their fatal

  710. sin. The Holy Spirit each and every day

  711. is admonishing those that are at loss

  712. concerning their sin of unbelief. And

  713. I'll say this to those of us who are

  714. saved. uh he admonishes us concerning

  715. the sin of unbelief. It's the sin of

  716. unbelief that hinders those who are

  717. saved from going forward for God. I'd

  718. say more about that, but time will not

  719. allow me. Notice not only he admonishes

  720. them concerning the fatal sin that is

  721. unbelief, but he also admonishes them

  722. concerning the faithful standard. In

  723. verse 10, he says, "Of sin, because they

  724. believe not on me, of righteousness

  725. because I go to my father and you see me

  726. no more." And so what this states here

  727. in the text is is that Christ as he has

  728. come, he has set the standard of

  729. righteousness. The Bible tells us that

  730. Christ is the express image of God the

  731. Father and he is the standard. He is the

  732. plum line in which all of men are to

  733. line themselves up against. And if your

  734. righteousness does not does not exceed

  735. the righteous, Jesus said to the scribes

  736. and Pharisees, you shall not enter into

  737. the kingdom of God. But I'll say this,

  738. if your righteousness is not the

  739. righteousness of Christ, there is no

  740. salvation in your life. Now, what is the

  741. truth here? He admonishes them

  742. concerning their sin, but he also

  743. admonishes them concerning the standard.

  744. You understand that for a man to be

  745. saved, he cannot make himself righteous,

  746. but he has to be made righteous. It's

  747. not an interior work, but it is an

  748. exterior work of the Lord imputing his

  749. righteousness onto those who would trust

  750. him by faith. And he says in verse 10,

  751. he said he's going to reprove the world

  752. of righteousness because I go to my

  753. father. Now, what's the truth here? He's

  754. talking about the ascension. The fact

  755. that Jesus would leave his disciples

  756. behind. We notice the note in the book

  757. of Acts, chapter number one, his

  758. ascension is made. those disciples stand

  759. there gazing up into the heavens looking

  760. for Jesus and the angels speak to them

  761. say ye men of Galilee why stand you up

  762. into the gaz gazing up into the heavens

  763. he said for this same Jesus shall come

  764. unto you again in like manner and what g

  765. what the Jesus is saying here is that as

  766. his bodily presence leaves his presence

  767. in the Holy Spirit would come to to

  768. reestablish and reinforce the standard

  769. now the standard is Christ and salvation

  770. the Bible says in the book of actsap

  771. Chapter number four. For there's none

  772. other name under heaven given among men

  773. whereby you must be saved. And so he

  774. alone is righteous. What does the Bible

  775. tell us about sin? Romans chapter 3 and

    Romans 3 chapter mention

  776. verse number 23 says, "For all have

  777. sinned and come short of the glory of

  778. God." Romans tells us that there's none

  779. righteous. Know not one. There's none

  780. that understandeth. There's none that

  781. seeketh after God. And so there is no

  782. righteousness that is attainable in the

  783. flesh. But there's only righteousness of

  784. Christ that is imputed unto the

  785. believer. And so the fatal sin is

  786. unbelief. The faithful standard is the

  787. righteousness of Christ. What did Jesus

  788. tell his disciples in Matthew chapter 6

    Matthew 6 chapter mention

  789. and verse number 33? He said, "Seek ye

  790. seek ye first the kingdom of God and his

  791. righteousness, and all these things

  792. shall be added unto you." And so there

  793. is the faithful standard. There's the

  794. fatal sin. But he doesn't only admonish

  795. them concerning sin and the standard of

  796. righteousness, but he also admonishes

  797. them concerning the final sentence,

  798. verse 11. He's going to reprove the

  799. world of sin, of righteousness, of

  800. judgment, because the prince of this

  801. world, notice that, is judged. Now, that

  802. simply tells us, this is foreshadowing.

  803. Christ in his death on Calvar's cross

  804. would bruise the head of the serpent's

  805. seed according to Genesis chapter number

  806. three would bruise his head and the

  807. serpent's dominion Satan's dominion

  808. would be finished and cal at Calvary

  809. Jesus Christ doomed the realm of Satan

  810. to destruction and so the final sentence

  811. was placed upon the devil at Calvary

  812. victory was won at Calvary and so what

  813. does this tell us that that all men are

  814. coming to a day of judgment. Notice that

  815. in verse 11 of judgment because who the

  816. prince of this world is judged. You see

  817. the reason that sinners die and go to a

  818. place called hell is because they are a

  819. two-fold child of hell. They are born

  820. into this world conceived in sin and by

  821. their actions they choose to sin and so

  822. they follow the devil. But you

  823. understand Jesus says the Holy Spirit is

  824. going to commit. judgment is committed

  825. unto Christ. The Holy Spirit is going to

  826. witness this. He's going to reprove the

  827. world of judgment because the prince,

  828. the leader, the devil himself is judged.

  829. And so those that would follow in his

  830. steps, they are sentenced as well. And

  831. so there is the fatal sin and the

  832. faithful standard. And I'm thankful

  833. there is a final sentence. The devil and

  834. his his uh angels and all of those that

  835. would follow in his steps, they will be

  836. sinners. And the Holy Spirit is

  837. admonishing this. The reason why the

  838. world refuses the voice of the Holy

  839. Ghost in their life is because he tells

  840. them who they really are. There's many

  841. voices in this world today that say many

  842. different things there. Everything's

  843. relative. But the truth is when it comes

  844. down to the bottom line, the truth that

  845. God shares with us, the sentence is set,

  846. the standard is set, the sin is

  847. described, and it is unbelief, refusing

  848. to receive the words of God. And so

  849. there is the advocacy of the Holy

  850. Spirit. There is the admonishing of the

  851. Holy Spirit. But then notice thirdly,

  852. and we'll be done here in just a moment.

  853. Consider not only the advocacy and admon

  854. and the admonishing ministry, but

  855. consider the assisting ministry. Verse

  856. number 12, Jesus says this to his

  857. disciples. He says, "I have yet many

  858. things to say unto you, but you cannot

  859. bear them now." And so Jesus has a

  860. desire to tell them future events,

  861. things that he has not told them up to

  862. this point. Of course, he's headed to

  863. Calvary. And he's tried his best to

  864. explain to them what has come what is

  865. coming for him and what is coming for

  866. them, but their flesh would not allow

  867. them to receive that truth. And so what

  868. we discover here is verse 12, he says,

  869. "You cannot bear them. You cannot

  870. receive the truths that I want to share

  871. unto you now." But in verse 13, he

  872. starts off with this little word. He

  873. says, "How be it when he, the spirit of

  874. truth, has come. He will guide you." And

  875. so the Holy Spirit, he is our advocate

  876. personally. He admonishes the world to

  877. turn to Christ, turn from their sin, to

  878. turn under the righteousness, to turn

  879. away from the judgment that is to come.

  880. But then for the believer, he is our

  881. assistant. He's he is with us at all

  882. times. and thankful for the everpresent

  883. hand of the Holy Spirit in our life. He

  884. is always at work in our heart. Now, the

  885. Bible teaches us that God's going to

  886. finish the work that he started in us.

  887. How's he going to do that? He's going to

  888. do that through the working of the Holy

  889. Spirit. Notice what he says here in

  890. verse 13, 14, and 15. So, in this

  891. assisting ministry of the Holy Spirit,

  892. there's guiding. Notice that in verse

  893. 13, he will guide you into all truth.

  894. That word guide there speaks of an

  895. influence. He will guide you, notice

  896. that into all truth. Now Jesus had

  897. shared much truth with them up to this

  898. point. And and the thing was that they

  899. did not understand many of the truths

  900. that Jesus had spoken. But he was

  901. telling them that there would come one

  902. that would indwell on the inside and

  903. would give them understanding of the

  904. truths that were previously spoken. But

  905. he would also not only influence them

  906. concerning the truths that Christ had

  907. told them, but he would also influence

  908. them into the truths that they would

  909. learn afterward. Because he just told

  910. them in verse 12, he said, "There's many

  911. things that I want to say, but you

  912. cannot bear them now." But he says of

  913. the spirit of truth, he will guide you

  914. into all truth. The thing about the Holy

  915. Ghost is, and many people say that

  916. they're led by the Holy Spirit in this

  917. day and time, but the truth is about

  918. their life, when you measure up their

  919. life, they're not led by the entirety of

  920. the word of God. If you cherrypick the

  921. scripture and try to make things twist

  922. and turn to the m way that you want them

  923. to affect your life. You are not being

  924. led by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit,

  925. his influence is total. It is all truth.

  926. You're not going to take one and have

  927. the other. You're not going to be able

  928. to have one foot in and one foot out and

  929. have the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

  930. That implies there must be complete

  931. submission. If he will guide you into

  932. all truth, that means that you must be

  933. willing to follow. Now, you know, just

  934. by the thought of the terminology that's

  935. used, he will guide you. A guide is only

  936. as good as the one who is willing to

  937. follow. And so, he is willing to guide.

  938. He wants to influence you into all

  939. truth, give you the understanding of all

  940. truth. There's not only his influence in

  941. the guiding, but there's his

  942. inspiration. In verse 13, look what the

  943. Bible says. For he shall not speak of

  944. himself, but whatsoever he shall hear,

  945. that shall he speak. So the spirit of

  946. God is in is the influence in our life

  947. that guides us into truth. But his

  948. inspiration is the father. You see, the

  949. spirit of God does not speak of himself.

  950. He has no will of his own. But he is

  951. controlled by the Lord Jesus Christ.

  952. whatsoever he shall hear that shall he

  953. speak. So as the words of God are spoken

  954. unto him by the Lord Jesus Christ for he

  955. is the word that is what the Holy Ghost

  956. witnesses in our heart. A good image of

  957. the Holy Ghost in our life is the same

  958. picture of the what the Lord Jesus

  959. Christ showed to us on this earth. He

  960. said I can only do those things that

  961. please the father. The Holy Spirit only

  962. does and says the things that please the

  963. Lord Jesus Christ. And so the Bible says

  964. there in verse number 13, he shall not

  965. speak of himself, but whatsoever he

  966. shall hear, that shall he speak. As

  967. Christ speaks to him, he will speak to

  968. us. So there's his influence. His

  969. influence is of our own is upon our

  970. faith. He influences our growth and our

  971. faith. And then his inspiration is from

  972. the father. But then in verse 13,

  973. there's his indication. What does the

  974. Holy Spirit indicate? Well, he indicates

  975. the future in verse 13. and he will show

  976. you things to come. He's going to give

  977. you wisdom concerning future events.

  978. He's going to give you understanding

  979. concerning what is to come in your life.

  980. And not only your life, but the the

  981. existence of the world and what is to

  982. come beyond this life. He will show you

  983. things to come. I'll say this. You're

  984. going to know anything about your life

  985. and what is to come. The Holy Spirit's

  986. going to have to teach you. If you're

  987. going to know anything about the Bible

  988. in your life or anything about the

  989. purpose of God for your life, what he is

  990. doing, why he is doing it, how he is

  991. doing it, you're going to have to have

  992. the Holy Spirit's voice in your life.

  993. And so there is the assisting ministry

  994. of the Holy Spirit seen in the guiding.

  995. But it's not only seen in his guiding of

  996. believers, but it's also seen in his

  997. glorifying of the Lord Jesus Christ. In

  998. verse 14, notice those first four words.

  999. He shall glorify me. He shall glorify

1000. me. The primary ministry of the Holy

1001. Spirit is to exalt the Lord Jesus Christ

1002. to lift him up to magnify him. And as

1003. Jesus is exalted, the scriptures are

1004. magnified. Now, we know what Jesus said

1005. there in the book of John chapter 3. He

    John 3 chapter mention

1006. told Nicodemus, he said, "And I if I be

1007. lifted up from the earth, I'll draw all

1008. men unto myself." And so on Calvary, we

1009. often equate that ministry there of

1010. Calvary that he was lifted up on

1011. Calvar's cross and that as he was lifted

1012. up there, the whole earth is drawn unto

1013. him to the cross. But you understand the

1014. Holy Spirit is the is the one that

1015. glorifies that lifts up Jesus. And by

1016. the Holy Spirit, the world is is will be

1017. can be saved and those that will come

1018. unto him will be saved. His ministry is

1019. a glorifying ministry. You say,

1020. "Preacher, how do I know how much the

1021. Holy Spirit's working in my life?" Well,

1022. how much do you glorify God in your

1023. life? How much do you exalt him? How

1024. much is his praise on your lips? How is

1025. he guiding your life? Are you following

1026. his influence? Do you have his

1027. indications? And I'm not talking about

1028. extra biblical uh things that are

1029. outside of the scriptures, but I'm

1030. talking about how much of this Bible do

1031. you live by? His guiding, his

1032. glorifying. And I'll say this and I'll

1033. be done. this this afternoon verse

1034. number 15 he is glorifying but he's also

1035. granting you see anything that we will

1036. receive in our life it comes through the

1037. ministry of the Holy Spirit verse 15 the

1038. Bible says all things that the father

1039. hath are mine therefore said I that he

1040. shall take of mine and shall show it

1041. unto you and so what this implies is

1042. first of all that there's a storehouse

1043. verse verse number 15 Verse 14, he shall

1044. receive of mine, that's Christ, and

1045. shall show it unto you. Verse 15, all

1046. things that the Father hath are mine. So

1047. you see the Trinity manifested there.

1048. What the Father has, the Son has, and

1049. all that the Father has, the Son has all

1050. of that. And the Bible says in verse 15,

1051. "Therefore said I that he shall take of

1052. mine and shall show it unto you. All the

1053. praise, all the glory, all the honor,

1054. all the promises, all the provision,

1055. everything that God has and everything

1056. that God is is entrusted in the person

1057. of Jesus Christ." And so because of

1058. that, the Holy Spirit is the one, if you

1059. were to consider it this way, if the if

1060. this is imaged as a large estate, the

1061. Holy Spirit is the executive of that

1062. estate. And he is the one that is

1063. entrusted to divvy out the grace and the

1064. provision and the promises unto you.

1065. Verse 15, he shall take of mine and

1066. shall show it unto you. any blessing in

1067. your life, and I'm not talking about

1068. physical things, but any blessing of

1069. spiritual measure in your life, being

1070. able to serve God, being able to work

1071. for God, being effective in the ministry

1072. that God has called you to do only

1073. happens and it's only made possible by

1074. the working of the Holy Spirit. He says

1075. in verse 15, "All things that the Father

1076. hath are mine." The storehouse is there.

1077. But I'll say this, the Holy Spirit wants

1078. to share with with you out of this

1079. storehouse. But the truth is what

1080. hinders us so often times is we are

1081. refusing to receive it because of our

1082. burdens, our brokenness, most of the

1083. time our busyiness. And so I want to say

1084. this to you, all right? These these days

1085. and and uh I want to make this this

1086. statement. I'll be done here this

1087. morning. During these days when you're

1088. at home, you're getting to spend a lot

1089. of time with your family. I'll encourage

1090. you, dads, take your Bible and sit down

1091. with your family, study the word of God.

1092. You're not going to get days like this

1093. often in your life. You're not going to

1094. get these opportunities. One day, your

1095. children will be grown and gone. You

1096. don't have another chance to tell them

1097. the word of God. Just sit down in a

1098. family set and you ought to make it a a

1099. priority in your life. And you say,

1100. "Preacher, well, I've never had the time

1101. up to this point." Well, that's what I'm

1102. telling you. You have the time now. And

1103. what I want to encourage you to do, if

1104. you'll make the time now to do what you

1105. know you need to do, spend time in God's

1106. word and in prayer, you'll make it a

1107. habit later when things get busy again.

1108. And make sure that you're spending the

1109. time with God that he wants you to

1110. spend. And uh I thank you so much for

1111. listening with us today. Tune in with

1112. us. And uh I I know this. I know God

1113. will help us, but it's going to come

1114. from the private place. It's going to

1115. come through the ministry of the Holy

1116. Spirit in our life. I know I've said a

1117. lot about that here at the church of

1118. late, but the Bible still tells us we're

1119. to be be filled with the spirit. Amen.

1120. Be not drunk with wine. Word is excess,

1121. but be filled with the spirit. Be

1122. controlled. Be led by the spirit of God.

1123. I tell you what, God can do something

1124. with our lives if we'll be filled and be

1125. led by the spirit of God. Allow him to

1126. assist us in our daily life. And I love

1127. you, church. I appreciate you listening

1128. in with us. and go back through there

1129. and check out the prayer requests there

1130. on the live feed and pray one for

1131. another. And I want to let you know this

1132. as far as this week goes. Wednesday

1133. night service is not cancelled yet.

1134. Okay. Um I know weather and all it's not

1135. looking good. Um but we'll let you know

1136. as of when it comes to that time. Um I'm

1137. sure you know due to everything we

1138. probably will have to postpone that and

1139. so you just stay up with us. We'll have

1140. the church message out on the Facebook

1141. page and we'll let you know as

1142. everything comes in what we see and so

1143. be safe and if you have a need I will

1144. say this church family if you have a

1145. need please let us know and myself the

1146. deacons brother Kyle Brother Chris or

1147. any of the men if you have a need please

1148. let us know and we'll help you any way

1149. that we can love each and every one of

1150. you and let's close in a word of prayer

1151. and uh then I appreciate you so much for

1152. tuning in with us today. Father, thank

1153. you for the good day. Thank you for your

1154. grace and your mercy. And thank you for

1155. allowing me to share the word of God

1156. today with our church, Lord. I sure love

1157. them. Miss them this morning, God, or

  1158. this afternoon. It's it's different,

1159. Lord, this way. But God, I'm thankful we

1160. still have the opportunity to share the

1161. word of God. And I pray you'll take it

1162. and use it for your glory. And help us

1163. to be uh submissive, Lord, to be

1164. faithful to listen to the voice of the

1165. Holy Spirit in these days. Help us to

1166. take time and pray and read our Bibles,

1167. Lord, not to just be lazy and sit

1168. around, look at our phones, uh but God,

1169. to take time and pray and read God's

1170. word and pray for the lost. Lord, I pray

1171. you'll do a work in our church. I pray

1172. when we come back in here, Lord, in the

1173. next days, whenever it is, I pray God

1174. that we'll not be laxed. Uh Lord, we'll

1175. not have to get used to it again, but

1176. Lord, that we'll just have spent time

1177. with you in prayer and in the word of

1178. God, and we'll just be refreshed and

1179. ready to worship. And Lord, I just pray

1180. you'll do that for us. I sure love you.

1181. Thank you for loving us and believe with

1182. our church family. Please, Lord, watch

1183. over those uh that are that are working

1184. the roads as well as the power

1185. companies. Please watch over those

1186. linemen and watch over them. Be with our

1187. church family. All those prayer

1188. requests, God, touch each and every

1189. need. We'll be sure to thank you for

1190. what you do. We love you and we ask it

1191. all in Jesus' name. Amen. Thank you,

1192. church. Hope you have a wonderful day.

  1193. God bless you.
